Her preference for course content is terrible and has in the past focused on transgender and crossdressing. Class discussions are usually biased to her opinion and are frustrating.

She really makes you think about things--she asks alot of hard questions. She won't settle for cliches and quick answers, which frustrates students who don't want to really work or think about issues.
Not an easy teacher but she really throws challenges at you that make you a better thinker and a better writer. She has an agenda; she doesn't pretend that she doesn't have an opinion. She forces you to form your own ideas and opinions.
She is tough but fair. She motivates students to talk out their ideas. She demands alot from you intellectually.
The worst teacher i've ever had.
not fun
she seems rigid and difficult but she wants people to think about issues. she challenges your comments with questions to make you a better thinker. she wont put up with lame excuses or answers because she wants everyone to do their best.
she seems serious about teaching, but can be funny. She is good at starting conversation and asking questions to get people to think. sometimes class discussion is slow and students say smart ass things before thinking but she tries to keep things going. she might talk some if the class is quiet but that is the students fault for not talking.
She was awesome. I still keep in contact with her through e-mail. she made medieval literature interesting. I mean it is not my favorite thing to read when Im bored but she made it exciting at times. she is a hard grader though, very tough. She demands alot out of you which can be annoying at times but she helped me as a writer.
She wants you to think a certain way. She doesn't grade real fairly and the classes aren't interesting. I would not recommend taking her for freshman english... some other teachers are more open to students ideas. Definately look for one of those teachers!
I did poorly on my first paper. She seems to want to push me to do better though because she encourages me to think out ideas that I did not fully write out. Other people who have read my paper say that her comments and questions are fair so I think that she isn't biased but just tough. She seems to know alot about certain subjects.
Classes are kind of boring because you just discuss what you read, but the way you disuss what you read helps you think analytically. That is her goal with class, to get you to think that way, and that is how you have to write. its always like WHY? HOW? and that sucks, but she makes you learn the hard way sort of.
I definitely learned to see the Renaissance in a new way. I thought that it would be stuffy and boring, but she made it seem not unlike the world today. She encouraged me to think, but asked hard questions. I liked her examples, really helpful. She didn't come off snobby or like a know-it-all. not my field but I learned some interesting stuff.
This teacher is awesome! She made me appreciate feminist critique. She will be famous some day.
really interesting movies. the texts were hard to read at times, but it was really fascinating that the ways people desired in the renaissance are similar to the way people desire today. the materials were tough but the ideas in class were very interesting. the teacher was great too.
great! very determined to get us to do analysis. like her style of teaching. she is relaxed but also challenges us. think she was at her best discussing films.
very nice and brilliant. pushes you to constantly ask "how? why? and in what way?" by the end of the class that's all you hear in your head when you're writing and it improves significantly. very available and can easily change grade in class.
Did not like this class at the start, but grew to enjoy it. Professor Batchelor really forces you to analyze all texts and you become a better reader and writer after finishing her class. Liked the movies a lot more than the books. Tough grader, but it forces you to become a better writer.
so much fun! great prof. would take again. asks alot of you intellectually. can be tough, but is very fair!

love, love her! she helped me get an internship that was highly competitive. at first I thought that her advice was harsh and unnecessary but the guy interviewing me actually liked the part of my application that she suggested. harsh, but smart!
AMAZING!! my current prof said that listening to her comments and questions has really paid off. she has this thing about ideologies which i finally began to understand at the end of her classs and it has made me a better student in my eng 2 class.
Her class was the best part of my time here. I really hate Lehigh b/c other students don't care about anything. Didn't have a choice about the class, so some material I didn't like. She asked questions that I could answer sometimes. The questions I couldn't answer at least made me think about stuff. She pushed me to have reasons and think.
She taught survey course at Arcadia--Greek and Medieval texts. She got me hooked on criticism and theory. she ran me into the ground with questions which helped me think out my readings. she was overly harsh when it came to analysis but i see the results in my classes now b/c I get comments about how thorough I am on my papers.
She really opened my eyes to what analysis is. She wrote alot on my papers that I just summarized the story and I did do that. She kept pushing me with comments and questions until it clicked. She comes off impersonal but she did care enough to push me to grow as a writer.
took a film class on desire. it was great! i learned alot about film, and now i can see how film actually works to communicate ideas about love or romance. sometimes she asked alot of questions, but it led to some interesting conversations and ideas. would take again!
Amazing!! She is so enthusiastic about literature and a devoted teacher. I loved the round chair days because it showed that she really cared about hearing our ideas. but she still questioned and challenged those ideas in really good ways! Would take again and again!
Sweetest lady ever, usually happy, very helpful, makes English fun.
Very willing to write a recommendation for anyone, but not a push over. She is challenging which comes off like she doesn't like your ideas in class. But after reading paper comments I realised that it wasn't that she didn't like my ideas, but that I needed to actually say what from the text got me to such an idea. her questions helped me alot.
WooHoo!! She helped me get into an MA program that I desperately wanted to be in! Her advice was fantastic, but brutal. Her help with my admission letter really helped me articulate my goals in a way that impressed the person who interviewed me. She congratulated me and she meant it. she will celebrate you; she's not mean but serious.
she is so knowledgable and takes class work seriously. at first i thought that she was cold and distant but getting to know her better this semester i came to think that she wanted me to succeed. she made me work hard looking the text to see what it wanted to communicate and i think that I am a better thinker for it.
The film unit was awesome. She really pushed us to see and read it like it was a book. There was alot of writing to do, but she let us revise short papers. She was tough but fair. I thought she was approachable. She never gave me answers. She told me to look to the text for answers.Frustrating but glad she did it b/c now i'm a good closereader.
I got an F on a paper and my teacher said that I could revise it and she helped me get an A! She kept asking me questions bout the story and told me to look at the language in it to help me get to a point. My answers and ideas to the questions were the points that she said I needed to put in the paper. It felt good that my ideas worked.Great tutor.
She's really hard. If you're looking for an easy english class to take freshman year, do not take Professor Batchelor. She is somewhat fair with her grading system, but still, I don't know anyone who has an A in that class.
She's really challenging, makes you think, and while in the class you'll think it's ridiculous, but I'd say I really learned a lot from her.
Very demanding prof but so helpful. She cares a lot about writing and gives so much feedback on papers. I earned an A in her class and so did a few others. And she helped me get into the eckhardt program which has made me so happy! I still ask her advice when writing an important essay. She is super supportive of my work.
I definitely don't think that she grades based on how well she likes you. She doesn't seem to pick favorites and if she did then her favorites are getting high C grades. She is a great teacher, but she doesn't just give out grades people haven't earned. If you want a challenge and a smart professor then take her.
Grades so hard. Do anything you can to switch into another freshman english class. You may not improve as much as a writer but your GPA will be better.
She is very hard but a good prof. You will learn alot.My current eng 2 teacher said that she could tell my eng1 prof really pushed me to learn how to close read. She will do that for you definitely! Im getting an A in my engl 2 class b/c of her pushing me. You need to put in the work for your papers to earn an A in her class.
I am definitely not gettin an A in her class, but she is a great teacher. And I think that she did help me improve as a writer. My grades in my history class improved thanks to her feedback with my writing.
She is horrible. Consider transferring out immediately or else you may not even get a B. She has favorites in her classes and even they don't do well. She is basically a horrible teacher who treats you like you are in high school. No one at Lehigh is planning on being an english major and yet she finds a way to destroy your GPA.
Well I don't think that she is horrible but she is very tough. She challenges you to move beyond high school writing so if you expect to earn the same grade in highschool in her class then you really need to wake up and accept that college writing is not the same as high school. And as a non-writer I think that we are responsible for our GPAs not pro
Good class and great teacher. Some of the subject material wasn't that interesting but there was some awesome texts and films. Best teacher that I've had at Moravian thus far! Really motivated me to improve as a college student and didn't baby me.
She was a crazy person, obviously the most difficult english teacher..does not realize nor care that students have other classes. Helped a lot with my writing but ne of the most frustrating classes I will ever take.
Challenging class but very nice teacher. Provides tons of comments on essays and helpful advice.
So helpful and very nice. She made me work very hard and helped a lot with my writing. Earning an A- in her class makes you feel like you climbed Everest or something. You've got to work hard in her class. And she has a great sense of humor. Conferences were the best part, she really hones in on what you need to work on.
Best teacher that I've ever had at LCCC!! She was so patient and helpful. I really think that my writing has improved a lot with her help. She is so smart, but not snotty about it. And she cares about her students loads. She is the first teacher to really listen to me and care about my work. She also made Fundamentals of Writing class interest
we covered some strange topics in class but we wrote 5 page papers at max and she's a decent grader and gives lots of constructive comments. overall nice person and tolerable class
She does not tolerate people who don't do the work for class. She likes it when a student takes risks in their essays, but she doesn't tolerate the attitude that you can make any reading you want from lit.I totally like this about her. Some people in class come up with crazy readings that the film or book just don't support. Great teacher!
I found her to be fair, but tough and challenging. She makes you pay attention to the text.I know some ofthe other students would say that she doesn't allow them to think but I don't think that they actually try.It is clear that someof them read sparknotes or offer interpretations that the text doesnt suggest.I like that she has standards.
So excited that she thought I should submit my essay to the Williams Prize. She said she loved that my essay was thoughtful and smart. Especially she liked that I wrote about things that we did not talk about in class. I feel like she really like that I tried to think outside of our class discussions.
She was AMAZING! Only had her for a short time, but she taught me so much as Chaucer and life in the middle ages! Sad to say that I preferred her to the actual professor teaching the class. She was a sub but I wish she was teaching the class for the rest of the semester! So smart and so challenging! And funny too!
Good person, bad teacher. She seems very awkward when teaching. Assigns a lot of papers with a lot of peer editing days. Cancels one class for every paper in order to have conferences. If you need help, she's there but usually her expectations for papers are unclear. Never grades anything until the last possible moment in the semester.
I found her assignments to be very clear, and she is always so helpful. I am doing very different writing from what I am used to so it is challenging sometimes to figure out how to write for an english class but she provides really great examples. And she gives a lot of comments on the papers which make it clear what we need to do to improve.
She is available to meet if you need her, and she takes the time to help you write the best essay you can. At first, I thought that she was a little distant but she can be suprisingly warm and kind. She gives tons of comments and is pretty fair. Just be ready to write differently. good sense of humor and sometimes fun.
She was very clear on what she expected during class and with assignments. I don't really like English, but I actually really liked her class because she was easy to understand. She was very helpful with assignments if you asked for help, and gave you a lot of feedback on it as well. I would definitely take another class with her if I got a chance.
I earned a C+ from her. I totally deserved it. I went from straight A's in highschool to basically Cs & Ds in college. It was hard for me to admit that I wasn't ready for college. She helped a lot. Fortunately, I had the good fortunate to have her again. I earned a B+. Even better, with her help I won a writing award.
Flexible with deadlines if you ask politely ahead of time and she is nice. She is considerate of students. Gives lots of feedback and lets us revise papers to try to earn a better grade. don't know how she does it. She's been helping her sister recover from car accident but it hasn't kept from helping us. She is really consistent.
I had Dr. Batchelor for intro to fiction a couple of years ago, and last semester I asked her to look at my medical school materials. She agreed to do it even though I wasn't currently a student. She is doing it again this semester for other apps. She gave amazing feedback last semester and now. I am happy to say that I got into UPenn! Thanks doc!
Dr. Batchelor is a highly skilled English professor. She grades with high expectations and isn't afraid to hand out criticism, but that's a good thing as it motivates you to improve. You really have to work to get the grade you want (what you give is what you get), but it makes you a better reader and writer. Highly recommend; she's truly the best!
She offers a lot of feedback; you can see she really values ideas not discussed in class or like only half discussed in class. She likes to see you add to the conversation. And she will write fair enough in the margins which I thought meant "ok" but really means she gets your point. Encourages you to submit stuff to contests which is nice.
Wonderful prof! Is understanding when you are sick and offers extensions. Encourages you to participate a lot. Asks questions to keep you thinking. Always willing to meet to help with papers. She is kind but strict too. Lost family this year but still there for me and everyone even when she looks tired and sad.
Great professor, especially if you aren't the reading type like myself. Course material includes movies and even video games. Definitely participate in class when possible. Quite responsive and sends lots of reminders for assignments through emails.
She teaches the material well, takes attendance every day, and participation matters. Very tough grader though, so make sure you put a lot of time and effort into your papers. Classes were usually pretty interesting, but there was a pretty decent amount of homework.
She knows what matters. She cares about students a lot, but she isn't a pushover. Gives lots of feedback, and she is available to meet often. Lets students choose what they want to write about but some limits. Will ask you to follow up and explain answers and encourages talking ideas out.
She cares if you succeed outside of her class. Wrote me best rec for a program abroad that changed my life. Program is super competitive so the rec had to be great. Took time to do it while teaching a lot. She is just a good person and a great teacher.
She's done so much for me. More than any prof at Lehigh. She made sure I got the help I needed and is helping me now when I don't know what I want to do. She asked me tough questions and pushed me when I needed it and didn't want it. She listened when I needed it too.
Nicole Batchelor is one of the best professors i've ever had. She gives AMAZING feedback and you will get an A on every paper if you work for it and work closely with the advice she gives to you. She's always willing to help you with your paper and her class revolves around film and music videos. You will definitely learn how to be a better writer.
Really cares about her students, but you definitely have to put in the time on papers to get a good grade especially if writing is not your strong suit. Let's you revise alot of papers at the end of the semester to get a better grade which is nice.
I had Dr. B last semester. She's tough and nice at the same time. She encourages you too and really pushes you to think things out. She won't give you answers--you go to work for things in her class. It pays off. She told me to submit a paper to the Williams Prize and I won one of the awards.
Dr. Batchelor has to be the best professor I've had at Lehigh so far! She is a genuine person that gives amazing feedback on papers. It might seem like a lot, but if you take the time to write rough drafts and outlines, she is always there to help. Attendance is mandatory, so show up!! She makes the course very interesting for the students!
Probably the best professor I've had at Lehigh so far. The course itself is difficult and has a lot of work but Dr. Batchelor is incredibly helpful as she always provides genuine advice and pushes you to make your work better.
If you have to take BUS003 AVOID HER. The class is awful to begin with (at least Fall19) but she makes it even more miserable. Only met once a week, but was the worst 50min of the week. She is condescending and doesn't answer questions clearly. She is a tough grader and it is so hard to tell what she wants on assignments. Avoid the class and her
The class is challenging because of the workload but she is very helpful and patient. She provides extensions when I need them, and she also allows me to revise and resubmit some assignments. It's a required business course, so it is challenging so she offers support and encouragement but you got to work hard to earn an A.
I won a Williams Prize! She helped me revise my essay till it was strong enough. Her advice was incredible and challenging. I didn't always like hearing it. But that's the kind that helps you really. When you look at her she may look distance but she is just thinking about how to help you best. To me that shows she cares.
She's the sweetest professor ever and would always check on us and see how we were doing. The content was easy to understand and she was always understanding and helpful if we needed an extension or assistance on an assignment.
I love her! One of the more interesting English classes I've taken, explores every kind of media. Gives great feedback and wants you to succeed. Gives lots of room for creativity and wants you to be the best writer you can! Lots of interesting stuff covered in the class so i guarantee you'll come across something you like
Essays. Tough grader. Really good person and cares about her students.
Super compassionate and knowledgeable. Shes always willing to help and gives great feedback. Grading can be hard but overall id take any course she teaches.
Dr. Batchelor is very a kind, genuine person and is very supportive of students. She may be a tough grader, but she only does so to make you a better writer. She's fast at answering emails and allows wiggle room on assignments if you email/explain. Interesting class and pushes you to do better.
Professor Batchelor is great! She cares a lot about the students and genuinely wants you to do well. She is definitely a tough grader, but I think that it helped me to become a better writer. If you go to her office hours or schedule a "conference," she can give detailed feedback on your essays so you can adjust them in time for submission.
She is very nice and very fair. She is a tough grader, you will probably not write a single A-level paper, but it is still possible to get an A in the class. Be sure to ask for help with your writing because she is willingly. Also, get help from the writing center. Participate in class and do the revision assignment and you will be good.
Dr. Batchelor is one of the most compassionate professors I have ever met. I frequently find myself having thoughtful conversations with her. She genuinely cares about her students and their well-being. While she might be a tough grader, she makes up for it with her insightful and helpful comments.
Overall this course was very enjoyable. She seems to really understand her students and is flexible. Expect 4 big essays followed by 2 smaller ones. They aren't that difficult if you pay attention to the criteria discussed in class. Also, be ready to participate in class discussions.
Dr. Batchelor is kind, respectful, and very passionate about film. Learns everyone's names, and the class was focused heavily on participation and discussions instead of lectures.
She is very caring and will work with you if you reach out. She has great feedback and will help you develop as a writer. She also has opportunities to increase your grade through revisions. Recommend getting a binder for this class or folder since she has a lot of handouts.
Dr. Batchelor really makes an effort to make sure that her students are right on track, and offers 1-on-1 meetings for essay drafting. Overall great teacher, with an amazing sense of humor. She has great knowledge on everything film/series.
Great professor for Engl 002. You can tell Professor Batchelor enjoys teaching, and her assignments reflect that. Can be hard to write about film, but she make its easy to go to her outside of class. She is super flexible about deadlines when you ask. Class is very participation heavy. Essays are a bit difficult. get ready to watch movies for hw.
Earned an A on my essay from Dr. Batchelor! Her feedback was so helpful & encouraging. She's so supportive and kind. She is flexible & offers extensions. And class conversations are so good. We are all racing to raise our hands and give our thoughts. She pushes you to think out your ideas in class too which helps me & others be creative & thoughtful.
Though this course is 3 credits, it had the workload of a 4 credit course. She gives lots of time to write essays, and allows for conferences for each essay which is very helpful. She explains things VERY well & she is so sweet. She does not show us our grades unless you make a meeting with her which sucks but she makes material easy to understand,
Dr. Batchelor is kind and understanding. She leaves great feedback on unit essays, so definitely pay attention to what she says and use it to make your writing better. I found the class very interesting, but you definitely have to do homework so you can participate which is graded. Using Lehigh writing resources (like OWL) helped me succeed.
Relatively easy grader, as long as you put in effort, you will do well in this class. Go to office hours if you need help, she is extremely helpful.
English has always been my worst subject in school, but Dr. Batchelor made this class an absolute blast. Though the unit papers were long and challenging to me, she provided lots of feedback and resources during the writing processes. She is absolutely hilarious and very understanding.
English is my worst subject because it has always been very boring to me. However this class is not your conventional English class. More-so an analysis class that teaches media analysis across different mediums. Dr. Batchelor is a very caring professor and her classes are always fun. The work is pretty light and also fun if you like analyzing.
She was nice but a little different. Lecture based class but honestly the criteria itself wasnt bad. She sometimes gives time in class to do work. She doesn't allow laptops or technology out during lecture or during class at all unless specifically told you can take it out. Not a hard class, just a little aggravating.
Dr. Batchelor is super nice and easily accessible outside of class, she truly wants you to do well and enjoy the class. Even if she does not agree with your interpretation of a text, it will not affect your grade on the paper. She doesn't make you buy anything for the class, and the first unit is film analysis.
Kindness matters. She gives extensions for papers when you have too much going on. She makes changes to the schedule when we have to many exams in a week. She always asks how we are at the start of class. Her experience and intelligence matters. Unlike students in other classes, I know I am learning a lot about writing and how to think deeply.
Dr. Batchelor is a great teacher. She's tougher than other WRT001 professors, but you learn a lot from her class. She cares about her students and is very accessible throughout the week. Her essays and grading are challenging, but they really improve your writing. Overall, she's a great person.
Very fun class, tough grader but it really helped improved my writing
Dr. Batchelor was the best writing teacher I've had so far. She listens and helps you develop your ideas. She provides great feedback; her suggestions help you think thru your ideas with a lot of care. She'll challenge your ideas to help you make them stronger. And she's always available to meet to help. She's flexible about deadlines too.
The professor is super caring she is very invested in her students and is available to help with anything even outside of the classroom. Very open to helping and giving feedback. If you put in effort and invest in the class you will do great just ask for help when you need it. Fun assignments, mostly papers. Amazing professor and person in general.
Professor Batchelor is a very very tough grader. She will not read more than one paragraph of your rough drafts. She gives lots of homework. She holds all students to insanely high standards that would be expected by professionals or English majors. An essay that would receive an A from another teacher receives a C from her.
Dr. Batchelor is compassionate and kind. Accessible during student hours outside of class to help with essays. She is always so helpful. Her feedback is thorough and incisive. She made me a better writer. She isn't a grad student so she knows what she is doing. I'd take any class she teaches.
Had her last semester. An AMAZING advocate! She made time to read my applications for a scholarship and campus position I wanted. She took time out of her busy schedule to help me. She encouraged me to submit essays from her class and other classes to the Williams Prize. I won in two different categories. She is so supportive of students!
A lot of work to do well, but she cares a lot for her students and wants you to succeed.
