This class is an easy A if you show up & just follow along her guided notes. She does add points to your grade if you miss less than two days. There is homework on connect math, easy. Tests are very straightforward. She is very understanding that you have other responsibilities and lets anyone who has a 95 average exempt the final exam. TAKE HER!!
Print her notes, show up to class, and ask questions. Easy A. She makes the material easy to understand. Test(there are 3)/quiz questions are similar to problems worked in class. Online homework is an easy 100 if you take the time to do it(hint: you can rework problems until you get them right before submitting). If you average 95, final exempt.
One of the best math teachers ever, if you listen and print the notes, and take the weekly quizzes/homeowrk online you will do fine. If you miss less than 2 classes she bumps your final grade 1 point. If you have a 95 after the midterm you exempt final and dont have to come back!
Gives extra credit opportunities, if you have a 95 or above you exempt the final, she drops 2 lowest quiz grades, replaces low exam grade with final exam grade. Awesome teacher!!! Homework on Connect Math. She will pass you if you show up and try.
Mrs. Carder is a great professor. She has guided notes posted on D2L for all lectures. Tests are straight forward and she lets you use a notecard with formulas and terms. Lowest quiz grade is dropped, final can be exempted if you have a 95% average or above. Easy class and an easy A for ANYONE! Show up and you will pass!
Carder is the greatest professor I have had at KSU so far. She is very passionate about stats and knowing your teacher actually cares about what shes doing makes it much easier to learn. The material was not too challenging but she always makes sure everyone understands everything and always offers her time after class to help.
Professor Carder was the most amazing professor I have had so far. She strives every lecture to fully explain the material in a way that is easy to understand. I am not good at math at all, but she makes learning math easy and actually kind of fun. Her tests resemble her lectures and there are no surprises as to what to expect. 100% recommend!!!!!
Mrs. Carder's focus is on helping students genuinely understand the material, and it shows -- through the notes she provides, the way she lectures, and her willingness to provide additional help/examples. This was truly an enjoyable class, and I learned a lot of information I believe I will actually use. I can't recommend Mrs. Carder enough!
Professor Carder makes this class a breeze. She makes it clear what will be on the test and she gives plenty of opportunities for extra help outside of class. It's clear that she cares about her students and that she wants them to succeed. I would 100% recommend Professor Carder if you need to take this class, she makes STATS easy for everyone.
Ms Carder is incredible! She gives lots of opportunities to ask questions and deepen your understanding. If you have a 95 average after the last unit test, you get to exempt the final. Homework is on connect math, but she gives you more than enough time to finish it. Attendance isn't mandatory, but her lectures are very helpful as you fill in notes
I love Prof Carder so much!! This was my first time taking statistics ever and she made it so easy and simple to understand. She allows us to use flashcards on our tests, and the homework is pretty straightforward. I recommend printing out her notes to save time and understand the material much easier. Overall, she is an awesome teacher! Take her!
I LOVE PROFESSOR CARDER! If you have to take STAT 1401, please take it with her. She provides so many resources to help her students succeed. Most classes this semester were online due to COVID, and she did an awesome job with her online lectures. Class is easy if you do all of the guided notes and watch lecture videos. Her guided notes helped alot
She genuinely cares about her students and wants to see you do well. If she sees you putting in the work the she'll help you out. Let's you use a half piece of paper to write notes on for quizzes and exams. Weekly homework.
TAKE HER !! This semester our class changed to hybrid, but she still managed to give us the opportunity to learn all the material really well. She gives so many resources for her students to succeed and she really cares about each and everyone in the class. She may come off as strict at the beginning, but she is doing that for the own good of us !
Prof Carder is great! I took AP stats in HS and didn't understand a thing, but Prof Carder made stats easy! Everything was explained well in her lecture videos posted every week for the chapter along with some hw on ALEKS. If you had any trouble understanding, she will definitely help you out! Go to class 1x a week. 3 exams, 1 final, & extra credit
Attendance not mandatory. Can prob skip and pass just by watching her lecture recordings if you can decipher her assignment instructions. Personally, I have a 0 tolerance policy for profs who don't post clear instructions until the morning of the due date. Overall pretty easy, but lots of work.
She was an excellent professor who made the best out of a hybrid situation. There was a quiz over every "chapter" but you really don't need the actual textbook, just access to the homework site. She did prerecorded lectures that really went in-depth and allowed you to skip what you didn't need clarification on. Tests were straightforward and easy.
This professor made stats so easy for me! She always recorded class and posted the recordings on d2l so that you can review them in case you forgot/missed anything. Attendance is mandatory, but she understands if you have to miss class. Very chill teacher and she's easy to talk to. Super kind and she responds to emails. I recommend taking her class
Shess awesome, she does everything she can to help you pass and gives tons of extra help and credit
Very personable, but takes forever to grade, and forever to respond to emails. This course is coding heavy, and a lot of people taking it have never coded before, and she does not do a good job of teaching them how to-- leaving them stranded unless they continuously reach out for help. However, if you have coding experiences, then its an easy A.
She helped us understand statistics but it sometimes became a burden to have to learn so much material in a crammed manner. She was awesome as a person, but you have to pay attention and ask questions to fully understand it. You can't miss out on a few days or you'll be lost. Great professor though, very understanding and willing to help.
Professor Carder is an amazing, flexible, and understanding professor. She was really nice about extending due dates when any of us were struggling with the material, and I never felt lost despite it being math! Tests and quizzes were lockdowns taken through ALEKS!
Carder explains EVERYTHING in a way that you can easily understand, and if you don't understand it, she will find a way to help you understand it. I HATE math, and she led the way for an A in this class. TAKE HER!!!!! She is the best!!
overall ok, but if you do not do good on a test it will make you fail. tests are worth 80% and quizzes are only 10%.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! This Professor is TOUGH, she does not care about your well being and is just there to get in and get out. There are many more Statistics teachers I would rather recommend.
I have never used excel in my life but she made it so easy. The midterm and final take a long time but are easy if you pay attention in class. She does a great job of teaching excel and helping students understand it. Take her.
Shes great, you just have to ask her to be more in depth if you arent sure about a topic but shes really inclusive and makes sure to ask the whole class if they are ready to move on.
She is an amazing professor who's helpful, but you really have to work hard to make sure you have a good grade. While attendance wasn't mandatory, you're going to want to be there for every class, otherwise, you'll miss out on a lot and it'll be hard to pass. The course was pretty project centered, just put in effort and it should work out fine.
Don't take this course if you can't managed the stress.
I recommend a different Stat professor because this class is tough!
There is no clear instructions when the assignments are due. This is the worse stat professor to take as a freshmans!
I recommend Dr. Hardy for Stat 1401, and not this professor because she does not give clear instructions on when the assignments are due.
This is the worse stat professor to take, take someone else who will help you if you are struggling.
She terrible's, but if you do everything she's stay its not that bad.
This was the first year of the DATA1501 class, but she did a good job with it. There were two main projects (midterm and final) and some assignments in between that weren't very hard. I recommend going to class because if you miss one you'll be so far behind. But she is VERY caring and if you communicate with her, she helps as much as you need.
She was super nice, although not the most helpful when help was needed. In my experience, she had a tendency to just redirect you to the notes if you didnt understand, which I didnt find helpful because I had read the notes and just couldnt understand them. Overall, shes pretty alright as a teacher.
Professor Carder was nice, funny, and a good teacher to follow. She lectured based off notes we could before class and was accessible for office hours. She was upfront about the importance of attendance and rewarded those who attended, through an extra credit system but didnt penalize those who didnt attend. I would take her again and recommend!
I did not think this class was going to be that bad because I did well in my highschool math classes, but this teacher, she was so rude and not understanding at all, she only explained it once and then moved on to the next problem like people actually learn that way? Also didnt care about her students and did not care about my medical Exemptions
Trust me and do not take a class with this professor. She does not care about her students and just wants to get in and out. Lots of homework and no free time to do anything else besides her class. Just awful. Dodge a bullet and do not take her class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
I am usually terrible at math, but Professor Carder did a great job at explaining concepts. She was nice and approachable, and willing to help. Like any class, you have to put in the work, but I highly recommend taking her!
Dr. Carder is smart, but she does not know how to teach the material to the class!
Dr. Carder is a great professor if you are willing to put in the homework and the tests. My advice is to go to her office house because she will explain the concept better than in the classroom.
Don't take this class if you want to get an easy math credit out of the way. Don't take this class if you can't catch on to things fast. If you zone out easily, don't take this class. I don't recommend taking this class if you are not a math major. This class is really stressful. Take this class at your own risk.
not able to teach, does not care about students, bad attitude, does not explain things well, tough grader, makes it a pain to go to class because of how unpleasant she is, does not like to help students, teaches way too fast, it is a beginner class and she expects us all to be fast learners who are computer geniuses
if you are not a math major, u will prob fail this class she is not willing to help students AT ALL if you are bad at math and computers save yourself and don't take this class worst professor I have ever had
She is a great professor and really good at her job. It's almost as if she is too good though, she is very tough when it comes to grading and most times comes off as arrogant. I would take this class again for her teaching skills but her delivery is terrible! She is lecture heavy in the beginning but it eventually starts to lighten up.
Do not take any of her classes. If you are not a quick learner or a math major, choose another professor. She does not respect her students, is not approachable, and was not willing to be kind and helpful when needed. She has the worst attitude and does not care about her students. She is lecture heavy, but goes extremely fast.
I am leaving another review bc there is so much to say about her. She does not find any fault in her teaching methods or in herself in general. I am a great student and felt like an absolute idiot in this class. I did not feel comfortable going to class because of her attitude. She is extremely arrogant and expects us to be computer geniuses.
do not take if you aren't a math major, I am a straight A student and had to drop this class........
this is a very difficult class, do not take to get an easy math credit out the way
Do not take this class. This is a trial class just created, also it's an intro class and she grades like we're suppose to be experts. The projects are semester long, she gives ZERO help. She won't help in class she doesn't show up for tutoring, she is bad at answering emails, and no office hours. This class should have the professor replaced.
If you have any excel experience it can be a breeze. If you do not have much excel experience and do not know how to run the tests, just show up to class and it is all in the lectures. If you miss anything, it is easy to catch up using the lecture manual provided. She cares about the material but grades on effort more than anything.
Ms. Carder is honestly the best professor I've had at KSU. She's strict yet reasonable with her material. She's very chill and often hilarious. This class is very technical and relies heavily on groups projects. The homework is pretty consistent but not hard. As long as you stay on track, it gets pretty easy. I'd take this professor any day.
If you are not a strong math students Data science 1501 is it. the course heavily relies on excel. Professor Carder is a really good teacher and understands what students are trying. however you have to show up to class . beware of projects as 80% of the grade is determined by them and you have 2 project both being group project.
Stats is hard so just try your best. She was nice and would let us do things at our own pace if we asked. I enjoyed her but it was difficult. She lets you be exempt from the final if you have an A or even like an 88.5.
This class is extremely excel heavy. If you don't have prior knowledge of excel it can be very challenging to get a hang of it. She has 1 assignment and 1 quiz almost very week. She has a rubric posted for all assignments so it is very easy to make a 100 on them. Quizzes overall are easy as long as you are paying attention to her PowerPoints. Easy
Professor Cadar is understanding, and she is willing to explain the steps to you. The midterm is like what you did in class. Please attend to tutoring because they will help you with your assignments. Attendance is Mandatory. Each week we have a assignment and quiz. Please pay attention in class and you will pass the course.
Online, summer, Data 1501. Ur effort will be noticed. She gives insanely clear instructions. #'s are difficult for me to stomach, but she taught them WELL, even made me enjoy them in her class. I genuinely think having these basic data skills will make me a more valuable worker,&I'm even excited to further them on my own. Thank u over & over again!
Carder created this course so she can be very knit picky at times. We were her guinea pigs so I know things will change up. Expect to have homework outside of class work because we did not have it. Follow along and go to the TA's she provides. They help A LOT. They helped me get an A.
Do not do it. Don't. I have nothing good to say about this class. Especially dont take it online. It may be a little better in person, but I doubt it. Find a different course. A different professor even. You will thank me later I promise.
Don't listen to all the negative comments. If you just put in a little effort to this class then its really not bad at all. Everyone on here is just upset because they had to actually do some work and use their brain in the class. You will become very proficient at excel. Decent bit of busy work but as long as you go to class its really pretty easy
I liked this professor, hated the class. The instructions she made for the homework were pretty clear but there was just a lot of it. Spending 2+ hours on one assignment got old real fast. The midterm was alright but the group project/final was kinda terrible.
Don't. This was the worst class I've taken in my academic career. The number of assignments is insane. She estimates 8+hrs/wk outside of initial study. Double that. There are no lectures for the online course. Get really familiar with the TA's videos. Midterm and final require a month+ work each, in addition to weekly assignments.
Yes, there are a lot of assignments in this class but she tells you step-by-step what to do with everything. It's a very easy class if you go to class and do the work. She is a great professor that really cares about her students and their success. She drops a few of your lowest grades at the end as well as extra credit throughout the semester!
This class is soul crushing. It's not that its hard in concept. but oh boy is it such a time sink. I took it during a full summer load and regretted it very quick. this class demands far too much of your time for being an introductory course and the work is mind numbingly monotonous. RUN
The class does have lengthy assignments but she provides step by step videos and extra help anytime you need it. She is willing to go the extra mile to help students understand concepts and even offers to meet in person or virtual. I struggle with math and this class was easy compared to other math classes. Definitely recommend! Just work smart!
Highly recommend this class if you're not good at math b/c it mainly uses Excel. The homeworks are time consuming but Prof. Carder is very helpful b/c she provides lab helper videos to help understand the homework better and highly recommend giving at least a few days in advance to do the homeworks to make the workload manageable.
Would take her class again if I needed to. If you don't have an A in this class, you aren't trying. She posts a lab helper video for every assignment, and it shows you exactly what she wants to see and shows you how to get started. Her quizzes are short, but if you study the powerpoints you'll be fine. She also gives great feedback on assignments.
The class and its contents itself are pretty easy. This was essentially an intro to Excel. There is a quiz and a homework assignment every week and the quizzes are easy. The Excel assignments can also be pretty easy other than some things you may get stuck on. The only problem I had with this professor is that she took a while to respond to emails.
I took Mrs. Carder for this semester and she was amazing. She responded to questions in a timely manner. She also had lectures and lab helper videos available. I would take her class again.
The class was very well-organized, straightforward, and interesting. Tons of resources available to you, the labs all have video guides as well as practice workbooks, recorded lectures, and slides, even tutoring that's easy to access. Need to attend class and try not to fall behind in assignments because they all build on each other.
She is really good and actually helpful when showing you things on excel. I think she is the best professor of this course since she created it. It would be a very difficult class if i didn't attend like some of the material is a lot of work. She always gives great feedback on homework to prepare you for midterm and final project.
This class is the most meaningless busywork class ever. The amount of homework weekly is insane, and the class doesn't even accomplish anything. For preface, you basically just copy every single step she goes through in the lecture tutorial into your own excel workbook. professor is okay, she is more lenient on deadlines than most.
She's a touch grader but overall a really great professor. I enjoyed her class and actually thought it was fun. She is very detail orientated so make sure you do it exactly as she has it written but she is super helpful and really understands how to help you learn and not just talk at you.
I would 100% take this professor again. Class is mandatory, but if you go you will know how to do the homework. She is very detailed in her assignments but gives you clear feedback so you can improve. The assignments are usually simple but are very time-consuming. She is very accommodating to those who do not enjoy math, as long as they show effort
This teacher was the most difficult professor I have ever worked with. You will have two big projects that will consist of months of work. Attendance is mandatory for online classes as you have to do a lecture manual workbook on top of the actual lab. The most busy work class ever. She also made me feel like I was dumb when I asked questions.
I feel like this professor is misunderstood.1501 is a tedious course however she is always clear on what she wants and is willing to help; her help can come off as condescending but she wants you to figure it out on your own first. If you don't put in the work you will fail and make sure to read back all your feedback. She never wants you to fail.
Most of our work is copying another person doing data. She gives the same feedback for students but grades still vary. Not to mention she is passive-aggressive when pushed on any criticism. I couldn't tell you a single thing I learned in this class.
Not only is this the most boring and time-consuming class I have ever taken, she's highly unorganized in a way where it cost me my grade and she's unwilling to change it. And if you have an emergency you need to deal with and need to turn anything in late, she deducts points no matter what. All this work and for what?
This was truly a useless course that I regret choosing to take to fill required gen ed credit. It is incredibly confusing for an "intro" course and it is mind-numbingly boring and excessively tedious work. NEVER take this course during summer semester because the professor has paced this course beyond poorly. Just don't do it.
she spoon feeds you the assignment stuff and then for the midterm and final, you're on your own. this is not how a teacher should operate
Professor Carder is an excellent instructor with a clear and engaging teaching style. They understandably present complex material, making connections to real-world applications. The course is insightful and thought-provoking, requiring consistent effort, but Professor Carder is supportive and ensures students grasp the material well.
Dr Carder is the least communicative professor I've ever had. Every time you email her, it takes several days to hear back, even up to a week. She also spells my name incorrectly every time I contact her. I understand it is an online course, and she doesn't know us well, but that feels unfair. She also makes everything needlessly complicated.
This was the most disorganized course I have ever taken. I do not recommend taking it with this professor if you want to maintain your grades. Her grading criteria are inconsistent, as if she does not fully understand what she is evaluating. While she is kind, she is also remarkably absent and appears confused about her own course material.
Dr. Carder is a wonderful and (mostly) transparent professor. But DO NOT take her for Intro to Data Science. Unclear grading "feedback", heavy amounts of homework and the homework itself can be difficult if you are not a CS or some sort of major using MS Excel. Her Labs do not always translate into the HW sections, if at all.
Assignments build onto the last week. At the end students are expected to complete a cumulative final project to account for a hefty piece of the final grade. I'm still waiting for grades back on 7 assignments-including a midterm! The class has been bombardment of work and ridiculous expectations for an intro class. Beware. Find another professor.
She isn't all that bad. The assignments are annoying and heavy, but what annoyed me the most is how long she takes to answer her emails. The midterm and the final are basically built up lab assignments from throughout the semester which aren't horrible, but it is hard to complete things when she doesn't answer her emails for days.
Low key a good teacher but you have to be locked in to do well. She takes attendance but posts all the lectures, so you are fine to skip, but you will probably be very confused. To get a good grade, it really is just about how much you care about paying attention and doing time-consuming work.
I took professor Nicole Carder in 2020 for both biostatistics and elementary statistics. The online lectures were easy to follow and learn from. She is a fair grader and excellent at explaining statistical cncepts (compared to my previous biostats professor). Go to class, study, and do your homework.
She isn't a bad teacher but this class was rly hard for me. She is very thorough teaching the labs & posts videos of the steps on d2l which is helpful & this part was easy but the hw was a nightmare for me. Computer stuff is not my thing. The midterm & final projects were too complex considering it's a class we just have to take no matter what.
teacher gives an insane amount of homework--like the most ridiculous amount you can imagine. She gives homework that in the rubric states will take hours to complete, then makes it due same day after a class meeting. do not take her if you want to be able to submit homework without stressing over same day due dates.
In my opinion, data 1501 was one of the easiest classes I took all year. Yes, it can be hard, but if you listen to what she says and do your mid-term and final week by week you will not have to be stressed with the other (easy imo) homework she gives. She definitely knows what she is doing and that has been super refreshing!
DO NOT TAKE HER. I made the mistake of picking her for DATA 1501. She doesn't answer questions, ignores emails, and grades very harshly. I had to rely on a friend with another professor just to understand the material. She expects 5 hrs of work per week ("3 hrs class + 2 hrs homework"). Take someone else or wait for a different semester.
Dr. Carder is a great professor and the class is easy enough, but there is SO much work to do. It's 1. a gen ed class and 2. wasn't even required for my major. but there were around 5-6 hours worth of work every week, which was ridiculous. it was more work than all of my other classes combined. the work is easy, just very tedious. easy a though
okay so i took professor Watson's online summer class, but every single lecture and lab video so far has been created by professor Carder, so everything i'm learning is from her. i can't speak to her grading rubric, but I find her tutorials incredibly comprehensive and easy to understand. I owe everything I've learned so far to her teaching.
I do not know how her other classes are structured but I took Data 1501 I had never used excel before this class and I have gained so much knowledge because of her. She gives really good feedback and is really nice. She has guided videos that help SO MUCH. I would take her again if I could!!!
