Professor Cintas has been the best science teacher I have ever had. She has been the teacher to show me that biology can be both fun and interesting, and has gone out of her way to help out her students.
she's so cool!! shes kinda young so she is super laid back and she grades so easily. I didnt have her for lecture, but I EASILY got an A in her lab session. she is humorous and a fun teacher who makes biology fun. she always awnsers your questions with clarity too :)
Awesome, very fun teacher. I hated BIO, so she was great to have as a teacher. She's really young & laid-back, so class is fun- but she s really good at her teaching too & super knowledgable.
The BEST! never had a professor like her before! defenitly knows her stuff, very helpful, and nice she is always there to answer any questions. bio is a very easy and comprehensive course only if the teacher is N.Cintas
Very nice, Very leniant. one of the few professors that I felt was working with me, instead of against me in class.
I would have to agree that she really is a good teacher, young or not. She explains everything thoroughly, and gives really good notes, which is important for this class, especially when it comes time to study for tests. She should walk thru labs however, but def she is top-notch in lecture.
she is a very helpful teacher...she works with her students...hopefully she teaches 162
Very nice and good teacher, she helps all of her students understand all of the course material and makes learning fun, tests are very clear and she gives study guides to help students study, nonetheless a class that is very easy to pass
Awesome!!! Very cool! Very easy, but you actually do learn! I hear she is not all that for the lab though. I can tell she teaches us way better than other profs cause we are way ahead of other kids in my lab class who have somebody else, and barely make C's in their lectures. Definitely take her!
Very nice professor who won't give you a bad grade as long as you show up, take notes, study them and for God's sake turn you cell phone OFF. Totally young and cool professor. Save old test because the questions will reappear.
One of the best teachers on campus. study and u can easily make an A. she is very detailed and be ready to learn
very cool teacher...nice and very helpful... just e-mail her when ever you need to talk to her ...I learned alot... if you want to learn easily take her...
Serious, but cool. Loosens up after a while and has a great sense of humor. Tests are from the notes. Don't buy the LIFE book, only the study manual and you'll be fine. Gives you a study guide for tests/quizes and if you can answer what's on it, you'll get an A. Is considering dropping the final for those with good grades for the next semester
great teacher who knows her stuff and is very willing to help--don't pass up the oppertunity to take this class
AWESOME. Never understood BIO so clearly in my life until her. She works really hard to see you learning from her lectures. Does anything in her power to help you. I had a B in her class, but a F in the lab(dif. prof.) which made my overall grade a D. After talking with her, she changed my overall grade to a C. Work with her and your good to go.
She is a very good teacher, clear slides and study outlines. Be prepared to read and really work for your grade. She's a science major so really enjoys the Micro part of the class. 4 quizzes, lowest grade dropped and two tests. If she was teaching 162 I would def take it, that says alot!!! It's nice when you actually learn from a teacher.
Great professor. She teaches in a way that's clear and easy to understand. Her tests are relevant to her lectures, she's very helpful, takes time with her students, and wants to help you succeed. My only complaints are 1. that I didn't have her for lab, and 2. that she won't teach NAS 162!
BEST SUPER EXCELLENT A+ ~Cintas will work with U in the class and not against U. She wants U 2 suceed, study guides and lecture outlines geared towards achieving top grade. Cintas is kind beyond words, more approachable than any teacher in the whole school, very helpful, organized so U get a quality class w/ a peace of mind. U will miss her, trust me!
She is a great teacher. I had her for nas161 I got a B for the class. she is kind, caring, nice person. I will miss her. Take her class you will be very happy.
Awesome teacher!!! Totaly willing to work with you. If BIO is a trouble subject for you TAKE CINTAS...she is very well organized, put together, and is extremely knowledgeable of her subject. Attend class, take notes and use her study guides and you'll get an easy A!!
One of the best teachers I've ever had - able to balance discussion of the large volumes of required material with access, clarity and a relaxed and pleasant environment for the students. A true "teacher's teacher".
BEST professor! she explains everything very clearly, always willing to help you. i had her for bio 101 and her tests are easy but you learn alooot about Bio. if you are a science major TAKE CINTAS~ BEST PROF! i wish i could take all my science classes with her:( and easy grading she will never give you a bad grade. Awesome teacher!
Excellent professor. And very well mannered.
She is indeed a very good professor. You have to work for an A. She has many tests but posts a study guide online, if you know the answer to those questions on study guide, you get an A. Also ask her not to call in sub if she is going to be sick, because the subs we had sucked.
Cintas is great! Tests are easy if you study and she gives a detailed review sheet before them. Some questions on quizzes are IDENTICAL to the homework questions, and the Midterm and Final is made up of mostly IDENTICAL questions from the quizzes. Lab was kind of annoying cuz there was a quiz every time. I liked the class, and her.
Cintas is a very good teacher. This is not the easiest cource at NVCC but she tries to teach as best she can. She was enthusiatic about her subject and did her best to make the class fun. Quizes were not "easy" but not that hard either but u can drop the worst one. P.S. if you like short brunettes, she is nice looking. Great personality
She's funny and makes class somewhat interesting. However, her grading is not what I expected based on the reviews on this site. She is a VERY strict grader. She will take points of for anything and everything. Don't believe me? Don't have to. Just take her class and find out for yourself.
She's the BEST BIO Prof you can get. She actually knows what she's talking about. Theres hope for getting As and Bs. You just need to study well on the quizzes and midterm and final. Guranteed good grades if you put in the effort. If you go in half-heartedly, you'll just get mediocre grades. So how much effort=good/bad grades. Go Cintas!!!
She's Great. She gives you study guides with questions that are exactly on the test. She gives you some Homework, but doesn't check it. Make sure to come to class and be on time or else she'll take points off. But its an easy class... trust me!!
*ONLINE Course* Professor Cintas is great, but this class is very challenging online. You might consider taking this one on campus.
She is one of the few teachers on campus who do teach, make you work hard, and grade very generously. If you've got any problem with Prof Cintas, no matter in terms of teaching or grading, you may think about quiting college and go back to elementary school. :)
Cintas is by far one of the best professors at NOVA. Because of her, I'm thinking about becoming a BIO major... I HATED Biology before this course. Anyway, she explains the material soo well and all of her exams are given with a study guide to practice with. She epitamizes what a professor is supposed to be like. Take her!
Professor Cintas is a very nice and approachable. Be aware it is a lot of information to grasp, no extra credit, no curve, but there are study guides. The quizes are like exams. I think this is a great class for a science major but not for a non-science major.
She is awesome, I highly recommend her. Everything is straight forward. Lectures are interesting and not straight from the book. She conveys a great interest in the subject and it is easy to find it interesting yourself. Will diverge on tangents on student questions and then relate it back to the subject. Tests from a study guide Study and do well
Yes Cintas gives a study guide but I wouldn't recommend her if your a non-science major. She gives no extra credit, no curve and way too much information crammed into one quiz that seems more like exam. It seems like Cintas goes through the information too fast. Good Luck. Take Lilley instead
very helpful...knows the course material. easy on reviews...exams are a bit hard. but if you listen to her lactures and work on review sheet u'll do great.
she's a good teacher, knows what she is talking about but she crams too much information into her quizzes and tests, i'd only recommend her if you're a science major
She is a very good teacher. She tells you whats going to be on the test. She crams too much info into her quizzes and tests although. Lot of memorizng. Don't come late to class.
just great professor.
Great class, easy to understand, and very interesting. I Learned alot
Great teacher. She is very good at what shed does.
Helpful class and she knows what she's talking about. She's very passionate about what she teaches although she's a little tough on the quizzes and tests. You may study for a whole day and still not do well on a test. I wouldn't take her class unless I was majoring in science.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!! She is a very picky graded
If science is you major, then by all means this is the professor to take. If science is not your major STAY AWAY.
If science is you major, then by all means this is the professor to take. If science is not your major STAY AWAY. a LOT OF INFORMATION TO KNOW, TESTS ARE EXTREMELY HARD. She know her stuff, but it is not for those who need it as an elective for science
I took Lilley for lecture and Cintas for lab. Honestly, I had way more stuff to do for this lab than my lecture class. She definitely requires a lot from you but I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR because she is extremely nice when you ask for help, easy to approach and you really do learn a lot.I would also take her lecture if you want to learn a lot!
Very good teacher who really wants you to learn the subject but at the same time helpfull!!
I LOVE HER, SHE NOT AN EASY A BUT IT'S NOT HARD TO GET AN A IN HER CLASS. ALL U HAVE TO DO IS STUDY THE REVIEW SHEET AND WHAT'S ON THE REVIEW SHEET IS EXACTLY WHAT'S ON THE TEST. SHE ALSO GIVES REALLY CLEAR NOTES. I WISH I COULD HAVE TAKEN HER FOR 102, BUT SHE DOESN'T TEACH IT
She is a grat teacher who really knows what she is talking about. She gives clear notes and if you study for her tests, they are easy. She also posts great review sheets that show you exactly what material will be on the test or quiz. She is an AWESOME teacher!!
She is the best biology teacher I have ever had. She mentions what students need to know for that particular course. Shes easy as long as u study the review sheet for quizzes, exams. Review sheet is the exact samething u'll find in the quiz or test. Good Luck fellas!
she is the best professor i have ever had! science is my worst subject but after taking it with her, i'm contemplating going into the medical field and go indepth with science. TAKE HER TAKE HER TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHE IS THE BEST!! she is the most helpful teacher I know... and really wants her students to learn the material... YOU MUST TAKE HER... her classes fill up quick... so you need to hurry...
This class changed my life. There is literally only one 1 person I can think of in this botany class who wasn't geeked out by the end. YOU EAT FOOD for one of the labs. It's not easy material but her study guides tell you exactly what you need to know. ALWAYS happy to clarify, answer ?s, or just to chat. Cintas is a prof you'll cherish.
Intelligent Patient Likes biology and students will too
If you are taking ELI class with her,you better NOT!I don't know why some of the students rated her high. It is not true at all. She reply yout email a week after, so if you question about homework which is due in the end of the week, you won't be able to answer it and most of the time you just have to guess it.
I agree with the students who put negative comments.I also took her ELI class. She looks nice but is a really picky graded.
I agree with the students who put negative comments.I also took her ELI class. She looks nice but is not clear and very picky. Not easy grader.
I took botany with her. She's amazing. Always gives feedback after quizzes, all her quizzes are based on lecture. If you do not have the book but go to every class, you'll be ready for tests. She's very honest and what she does not know or understand will write it down and will bring you an answer for the next class. TAKE HER!
you want an A? take her class...if you actually take the time and go through her study guides for tests you are guarenteed an A. Her SGs are her tests! of course the SG has stuff you have to get the answers from the book...which the answers are in the back!! take her class!!! SHE'S VERY HELPFUL TOO!
Prof Cintas is Great!! She knows what she's doing and loves to help her students, but don't get me wrong her class isn't an easy 'A' you actually have to study and UNDERSTAND the material to get a good grade on the exams. If you study your material you'll be ok! She's an awesome teacher nas 161.
I took her class but I droped. She's good and cares and helps alot , but YOU REALLY MUST LIKE BIOLOGY - because she's soooo in details-very very hard. If you like bio- than take it you learn with her. If you want to attend-" to get a class with lab" forget about it - she's not easy at all. If you like Bio, than take her class. Nice prof. too,
Great prof. ONLY IF YOU REALLY LIKE(or bio is your major) BIOLOGY. Otherwise, she is very hard-very detailed-takes alot of your time for this class. Very helpful, nice, HARD GRADER, answers all your needs, polite. REMEMBER: 'You really must like bio and your ok. I don't like bio much so i had to drop her class. Great Prof. though !!
HORRRIBLE ONLINE TEACHER DON'T TAKE HER IF YOU DONT WANT TO WASTE YOU MONEY. NEVER RESPONDS TO E-MAILS, GRADES TO0 HARSHLY, DOESN'T MAKE ANY EFFORT TO HELP!!!
Dr. Cintas is a great professor, but you have to study HARD to get at least a 'B' on her class. Her exams are very hard but she gives you a (huge)study guide. on the exams you'll find multiple questions, fill in the blank, matching, labeling, and short essay questions. No extra credit at all! You get the chance to drop your lowest exam
Really cool person and pretty good teacher. Takes a long time to respond to emails which is kinda annoying when you have a question for an assignment. Her tests are heavily based on the study guide and most of the answers you can just memorize. Shouldn't eb hard to get a decent grade but you may not learn as much as you'd like!
She's cool, read the text study the notes and you'll do fine. Slow grader but who cares just take her!
This was a very fun class! We took two field trips, and the labs were very interesting. If you are a foodie, then you should make it a point to enroll in her course. She also is into food, so this class plays directly into how flavor/texture/etc are biologically formed. NOT and easy class, but if you pay attention, you'll be fine! GREAT class!!!
I didn't like this class, or the teacher. There are 5 exams, and 1 final. The exams are every other week, plus labs that are due every week. There's also an exam the week before the final, because that's fair. I once emailed asking for extra help, she responded over a month later. She's terrible at responding/helping students.
Highly recommended if you love biology and want to learn something throughout the course, but if you just want an easy pass, this class is definitely not for you. Many students dropped the class because they could not handle 4 exams plus a non-accumulative final. In general prof. Cintas is nice, and she clearly know her subject.
Professor Cintas is very knowledgeable, helpful and clear. This class is extremely difficult, you have to study really really hard to get an A. The lab is very helpful and you will learn so much about Micro. If you want to learn take her, but be aware that this class is no joke, attendance and the book is required!
She is a very energetic teacher. Shes always there to help but can sometimes talk about random things about her life but thats not too bad. This is probably my easiest class but I love biology so that may be a factor. Her lab class is easy and the tests are even easier. Just use the review sheets she puts out and show to class and your golden.
Very nice and helpful teacher! Do your work and you will pass.
She was amazing. All her lectures are in power point so if you're a big PPT learner then she's right for you. Grading is pretty tough; you have 4-5 tests, 1 midterm, and 1 final exam and thats basically all your grades. She assigns homework but thats mostly for your own benefit because she doesnt grade it. Shes very fun and passionate about biology
Professor Cintas is overall a good teacher but she has a strange way of explaining things and every term that she uses is technical. Also if you're more of an "hands-on" learner or if you like working in groups, Prof. Cintas lecture course probably wouldn't be the best choice for you. Her grading criteria for tests are also confusing.
Professor Cintas is the best, I took Botany with her and I've never enjoyed a class so much. She has a lot of knowledge and a clear passion. I liked the way her presentations were laid out and how the class was based around that info. There were fun assignments and field trips, and a garden! She does a lot to keep things interesting.
I would not recommend taking this professor for the online class. The test are extremely hard and do not match the study suggestions. The feed back is also not helpful. Grading is not consistent. Grades take forever to be posted. Some assignments are confusing and lack detailed instructions, especially on the at home labs.
Prof. Cintas was a really good professor. She's very clear about everything. Has very thorough notes in lecture. No hw but she do assign worksheets, most of the questions on the worksheets will be on the tests. The tests are pretty tough but she recycles a lot of questions, which is good. As long as u take notes in class and study, you should pass.
Tests were hard and based alot on the outside applications.
During this course you better expect to read everything within the chapters. You miss one thing it will make you fail the test. She doesn't even teach, she tells you to read the book and take the test. Other assignments have really no affect on your learning. She is no help when asking what will be on the exam to prepare you. DO NOT TAKE!!
I took this class as an online class. She doesn't respond in a good timely manor, it takes about 3 days. She doesn't help you with the information for the exams she tells you its overall. Some exams have nothing to do with the material you read. Also she takes forever to grade any turned in work. Would never take this class again or recommend it.
Prof. Cintas is a sweet little lady who is willing to help you when necessary. She always introduced the lab and material in an cohesive layout so that there would be minimal questions once we got started. If you want to learn more about her, stay 10min post-class & she'll open up to you! Do NOT be late & do NOT forget your goggles!!!
Cintas is awesome, I really do not know where these other students were when she handed the study guides out. Her study guides tell you exactly what is on the exams. I got an A on every one of her exams. She's energetic and makes Biology fun. She wants her students to pass that's why she recycles the questions. Just do the worksheets.
Cintas is a great professor! Everything is straight forward. Majority test questions are from the study guide. Rarely used the textbook. No projects or presentations. Gives HW but the HW worksheets are super easy. just take good notes, do the HW, use the study guide to study for tests and you should get an easy A.
The tests are extremely hard and half of the questions are about meaningless details or are not clear. Do not take this class!
Do not take this as an online class! She does not give study guides out for the exams or even post powerpoints on each chapter. The exams are EXTREMELY difficult! I understood all of the material for each exam but failed almost all of them because the exams are out of left field. She takes points off of everything for the smallest things.
Prof Cintas is Grea!t. show up to lecture, take notes ofwhat she writes on the board. the rest is on PP that you can access onBB. Work sheets are important, make sure you show up to class, she goes over the answers at the begining of each class that info would B on your test. she gives clear test review. if i can get A so can you, a foreigner
Prof. Cintas is great and very passionate. She is clear with her lectures and helps you if you are stuck. Her tests are not too hard just STUDY and show up to class every day.
No, not the worst professor ever. You have to read the material and study and read the worksheets she assigns. I thought the tests were not too hard if I had studied the material before hand. I got an A on every test and exam. For the midterm and final, the multiple choice were repeated from the last tests we took along with new material, easy.
I took her for Bio 101. The way its all graded is you have 6 grades. 4 tests, a midterm and final. Her tests are directly based on the study guides and textbook. However, its a lot of content. She goes through large, intense chapters too fast.
If you're life involves other fields other than plants and flowers don't take this class. This class is for the serious future botanist. Tests are heavily filled with Google-able information, but expected to know IT ALL ! Diagrams that clearly are for a trained eye, study HARD! Take heavy notes, study every night. Make this you life!
Don't take this teacher, she's a tough grader and it feels like she doesn't want you to pass. her study guide isn't the same as her lab quizzes. Fool's you to study really hard on them and aren't the same, only about 2 questions of the whole quiz. Only take if you want to challenge yourself to become a botanist. you've been warned
No! she is not the worst, but the best Prof. Her test are based from the notes, yes she is strict in grading. But don't let grading part scared you. The first test that you take you will see on the second test with little questions and that happens consecutive till final you will see all. But she is fair just take notes! no textbook required.
She is a great professor. There were 4 tests, a midterm, and a final. The class might move a little fast if you have no background with biology, but if you know some basic concepts you'll do fine. She definitely knows what she's talking about and will help you with any questions you have.
Ask questions in class and go to her office hour. If you don't understand something, she will explain it to you until you do. She can come off as rude or intimidating but she really wants you to do well. The study guides are exactly what's on the test so commit those to memory. You have to put in effort but if you're really trying you'll be fine.
Professor Cintas is a great teacher do 5 test drop 1. Hand a study guide that helps for the test. 1 midterm and 1 final based on the tests so if you revised those you would ace them. She cares about her students and she is really fun. Recommend her 100%
Amazing teacher I learned so much in her class she is funny, and knows her material well and explains everything clearly. I am not a science major, frankly I am so bad at science, but she makes me love everything about Biology and her class!
Prof. Cintas is amazing. I'm not very good at science and just not very interested in general. However, she made the class very clear as far as what would be on the tests, making it super easy to pass. Such a good class that I worked my schedule for next semester around taking her for bio 102. 4 exams, lowest one dropped, plus midterm and final
I honestly love Professor Cintas, very funny. You won't pass the class if you don't show up, even if someone provides notes. She really makes things undertstandable! Your quizzes are literal questions that is on the worksheets and nothing she quizzes on is anything that is difficult. YOUR MIDTERM AND FINALS are easy ( questions from past quizzes )
Attend the lecture because half of the stuff she talks about she writes on the board, and are not in the online powerpoints. She gets off topic easily, but in a good way. She is funny, caring, and easy to communicate with. The grade is four tests, a midterm, a final, and a little poster. That's it, but it's very doable.
Prof. Cintas's tests are composed of questions that can easily be found in lecture slides and activity sheets. She gives clear lectures and is available if you have questions.
Study guides are clear and represent everything on the test. I was not good at Biology in high school but I loved this class. (& I got an A!) Awesome lecturer and is SO knowledgeable about Biology. If I had questions after class she explained it super clearly. Overall I think shes rather brilliant & a great professor - TAKE HER!
Love her. Lectures w/ ppt slides and notes on board, so show up! Take good notes, do worksheets- easy A. Graded by 3 tests (take 4 one is dropped), a midterm + final which are literally copy/pasted MC questions from past exams so just study those, and a miniposter assignment. Dont buy the book only need for review sheet so use library copy or peer
I was never good at biology, but taking her class made me like biology alot & made it seem so easy. Test questions are 90% straight from the study guide, they're easy tests too. No weekly hw, just 1 lab report, partial lab report, & other assignment. Lab has very short quizzes every class, just read from the lab book and you'll do great. Take her!!
As long as you take good notes and study for exams you'll do fine. Going to class is important, don't expect to pass if you don't. She drops the lowest grade, which I didn't do well on some. She gives you a study guide but sometimes test don't match study guide but the midterms really helped me with my grade plus lab.
You need to attend lecture because half of the material is written only on the board. However, she is fun and engaging, kind and down-to-earth. I never read the book, she doesn't recommend the book either. Just use the library copy if you need it for review. There will be stuff from the book on the exams, but they're not that hard.
Took her for Bio 101 and 102, she's so chill and super sweet. Lectures are based off the book and powerpoints. Mini posters due, but thats easy. She's easy to access through email. I wasn't a fan of science but she made it worth it!
She is the Marry Poppins of professors here at NOVA. She changed our perspective on the world through her passion for the hidden world of botany. Her interest in the subject is contagious and inspiring. Lectures keep you on your toes with juicy content. Labs are SO MUCH FUN! Im so glad I met her, she is one of my favorite humans! Definitely top 5.
Prof Cintas was such a mean professor. She didn't seem to care about the students. many people complained about her in my class and a lot failed. I got an A after working hard, the tests were difficult and tricky. Labs were annoying since I took the class online, the professor was picky.
Please please please read this DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT take this Professor I took her based off her great ratings and she is nothing like these ratings. Very rude professor who doesnt care for your grade and will always blame you for it never helps out please take any other Professor I promise you if you take this Professor you will regret it.
Honestly, I feel like she's a good person and she knows her biology stuff. Anytime I sent her a message she never responded so I don't know if I was being ignored or whatever. Everyone has their experiences. You can take her as your professor. It may be different for you
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS ESPECIALLY IF IT IS ONLINE! I have had 5 other students in my class that wrote the letter to the dean about her! The test is all on lockdown. Keep in mind I have attended every class and did all the homework and studied. You will not pass this class if you have a life. In the last email, she called me by a different name.
We were suppose to have 6 exams but she made it 5 because we were STRUGGLING. The homework she gives us is very simplistic compared to the exams which is more difficult and very specific. Our class average was a 60% for every exam so you better study HARD. Study concept checks from book and review hw (word for word). Also exam require webcam.
I took Professor Cintas for her BIO 101 class online and I can say that it was a good class overall! She would record her lectures and post them on Canvas, remind her students when her lectures would begin, and took time after her lecture ended to talk to her about anything that concerns a student. Tests were based on notes, one question at a time.
It's obvious that she knows her stuff and is good with the material but man she is a really tough grader, 5 tests with really insufficient time and really hard, and man they were all a pain in the butt. I would not recommend taking her VIRTUALLY.
Professor Cintas is by far the worst professor ive ever had. i wrote a perfect research paper that has been proofread by other professors got a 10/20. not you full face in the camera during lab 0 points. 50 questions in 60 minutes. 4 exams PLUS final. JUST DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
Professor Cintas is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is very intelligent and enthusiastic about what she teaches. Lectures were very informative. Labs included eating fruit, dyeing shirts, dissecting flowers, paper making, and lots of planting! Graded on labs, 3 lab quizzes, 4 tests, & 1 paper. Study guides for tests were very helpful.
Professor Cintas works to make success in hard class achievable and understandable. BIO101 is a foundation/filter course, meaning its work, but she works to making it clear what material you need to focus on. Good and personable lecturer. Considerate grader. No surprises on text. Firm but delightful in the lab. (Me: returning BA/some gradScl)
I loooove her!!! Literally the best! You do have to put effort in studying and keeping track of assignments. Spent approx. 6 hours studying before a test but it will probably be less for others. She is very passionate and it made us enjoy lectures. I did not even feel the time when I had her class.
Really cares about her students! As long as you pay attention and study hard you'll be fine. Accessible outside of class!
Be prepare to work for your grade. She gives worksheets on the topics for hw. Speak up when you're confused or need her to slow down. You will need the textbook! Study guides are long but they help. She drops the lowest exam grade which helps A LOT. Get help immediately if you're lost bc everything will go downhill quickly. Easy to approach 3.5/5
I really enjoyed her class. You can tell she's very passionate about her teaching. I had a very busy schedule during the semester and she was very accommodating. I would definitely recommend her.
The best professor I've ever had at NOVA! Her labs were always fun while also relating to the material, and her lectures were fun and engaging while still getting the material across in a clear and easy to understand way. I felt like I could talk to her and ask questions about the material.
She's so nice, her lab lectures were so interesting, her reading lectures however were kind of long and made time move slow but the material that we were learning made it worth the wait. she also at one point took us out of the lecture and took us to a separate room where she gave us different fruit to try and talked about what we were eating 10/10
I was nervous to take BIO again after taking is once before but this professor was absolutely amazing. I wish all of my professors were like her. I had some tough times during this term and I was unable to come in to take a couple exams she worked with me to get me scheduled for it.
Best science professor I've ever had. Super knowledgeable, lectures are fun and informative, tells you EXACTLY what is on the exams and works with you as much as you need it. If you did not like her, it's because you did not do the work. There is no midterm or final, just 5 non-cumulative exams, she drops your lowest score. TAKE HER!!!
This professor is engaging and passionate, but the class requires a lot of work. Using unstuck study and the textbook is key to success. Attend class and you'll do well.
Professor Cintas Is Great ! Her tests are very hard but it's based on the worksheets she assigns to us and the study guide. You really have to know your stuff when you take her tests, luckily she drops the lowest grade on the test ! she has office hours upon requests. definitely recommend getting a tutor if your not doing well on the tests!
Ok, not saying she was not nice and didn't try her best, but just so you know that you won't get an A grade. There is no way you can get a good grade because the test is very hard. Even what she gives for study guide don't always match. If you want to learn about plants go ahead take her. But just to be sure you won't get an A grade.
Knowledgeable and kind teacher. To get an A: Ask questions + take notes, study days before test (tests are only hard if you don't study) New students should recognize that earning full points on lab quizzes will help them reach an A — this is the main reason I got a B rather than an A. Lab quizzes are easy as long as you spend 10 minutes studying.
please avoid this class if you can!!! her tests are so detailed even if you study you will still fail. she uses very broad open ended questions as well on the test barely any multiple choice . during lecture multiple people fall asleep because they are that boring. the only way to pass this class is lab. avoid avoid avoid
Professor Cintas is kind and helpful, but the class isn't an easy A. The review sheets don't always match the exams, so you really need to understand the material. The course is very lecture-heavy, so staying on top of the content is important. There are 5 exams in total, and one gets dropped, which definitely helps.
