I was dreading business law but she tried so hard to make a tough subject understandable to everyone. She is an amazing teacher and you can't go wrong with taking her.
Nicole (Colee) Pyne is by far one of the best professors I have had at the University of Utah. She cares a great deal about her students and will make time to meet with you outside of class. You absolutely have to attend class to do well on the tests. Be prepared to study hard and read cases. Hard class, but worth it with a professor like Colee.
Colee is AMAZING by far one of the BEST professors at the U! expect a lot of reading, and test are hard but if you go to class and participate you should pass without any problems!! she is always willing to help!!
She did an amazing job making a convoluted subject make sense to complete beginners. Will do her very best to help you understand if you talk to her. There are no group projects or long assignments but you are expected to read before class each time and the tests rough but curbed. she is lenient everywhere she can be with your grade.
She is awesome! Teaches very well, knows her field, and is funny. She goes out of her way to help students. To do well, participate, listen to the lectures, take notes, and don't miss class in order to do well in her class. oh and read till your eyes bleed. I was scared of the class at first but it turned out to be one of favorite classes.
Colee is the most amazing professor on campus! She's really energetic and excited to be there, and that makes all the difference. The class covers a lot of material, but she's great at explaining it in simple terms. She always follows up with very clear examples that clear up any confusing points in the concept. Her exams are extremely fair.
Colee wants each and every one of her students to succeed. She will go out of her way to ensure that you do. Colee created a very unique classroom dynamic, encouraging discussion on a topic that, on its face, is very black and white. She's a fantastic teacher!
Easily my favorite professor I've had at the U. She is young & energetic with a great sense of humor which made participation easy & surprisingly fun. It was an overall tough course but she goes out of her way to help & make sure that lectures are as clear as possible. In fact, I wish she taught more course. I would recommend her class to anyone!
One of the best teachers at the U. She prepares you well for the test. Lectures were interesting. Take Bus law from her.
She was tremendous. You can tell she really cares about her students and will go out of her way to help anyone. She is very lively and does a good job of making class fun. Her exams are a bit long and require studying, but she provides every resource to help you success in the course.
The best way to get a good grade in her bus law class is to pay attention and participate in class. Reading your textbook will only get you so far as her tests are based on lectures. Many of her stories to put laws into perspective will show up on the test. She is a good professor. Make sure to show up to her review sessions!
Reading in a must, paying attention is also a must but very insightful. Very demanding class but if you read, comment, and try to understand the concepts you will should do fine.
She is very nice and her lectures weren't boring. Despite having a 6-9 class, it went by really quick. If you can, go to her review sessions for the exams, they help A LOT!! I would definitely take another class from her if I could.
Take this class! It's so interesting, and it's one of the most applicable classes I've taken thus far. The professor is extremely dynamic and enthusiastic. She's genuine and extremely fair. Nothing is on the exam that wasn't stressed in class, so if you show up and pay attention, you will do well. She also brings snacks sometimes, so that's a plus.
Colee is amazing, I took her Business Law class in the summer and it was a night class but I enjoyed every session. Summer Night classes are arduous because of the time alone and she made it really fun.
Colee is amazing! I just finished her Business Law course and I felt like I gained so much from her lectures. She keeps class interesting and really teaches you the most important law topics every business student should know. Definitely didn't start out as a strong reader, but I ended up loving reading especially the cases.
awesome teacher! I really enjoyed her class. It was a tough subject, but it was fun to learn about. Don't miss class. She's great.
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. Colee goes above and beyond as a professor. She clearly is passionate about teaching, and really takes the time with students to make sure they understand the material. She's a rare find nowadays.
Colee is THE BEST. She is legitimately my favorite professor so far. She is honest, caring, and hilarious. You are going to have to read and participate and her tests are hard. You have to understand the application of the laws she teaches, but taking a class from her is so worth the effort you have to put into it.
Colee is an amazing professor who has passion for what she teaches and this comes through in her lectures. If you can take the course from her I'd highly recommend it. Be prepared to read each week, participate in class, and study hard for tests but if you do you'll learn more in this class than most others.
Colee is one of the few professors that actually CARE about the students and the subject in the business school here. She is not only passionate about the students, but she is also passionate about the topic! Her lectures are entertaining and hilarious, which is good, because participation is mandatory! Be prepared for class. Read. Engage. 12/10!
This class is brutal, and the tests are borderline torture, but it's cool because Colee's amazing and you learn a ton. Lectures are great (even in the 3 hour night section) because she requires participation and she's really funny. So glad the class is over, but I'm grateful I took it from Colee!
Hands down one of the best professors at the U, no questions asked.
Colee created the kind of college class that I dream of. It's an interesting course and challenging. She gives you all the tools you need to succeed, though, and that's what I loved. You are going to work hard but if you come prepared for class, pay attention, participate, review your notes, and study hard for the tests, you will love this class.
Absolutely my favorite professor I have ever taken from. Colee makes the lectures so entertaining and brings such great energy. The class is very hard no matter who you take from and the format will be basically the same. HARD class but Colee made is so enjoyable.
Colee made law fun, which isn't easy. The class itself is very difficult but she does everything she can to set you up for success. As long as you show up and apply yourself you will pass. Great professor with an awesome personality.
Take Colee for Business Law. Super knowledgeable and very personable - great sense of humor. READ READ READ and STUDY AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. Gives hints on test questions in lectures so ATTEND EVERY CLASS! Many participation point opportunities extra credit. She curves as much as possible on the tests; which is incredibly generous.
Best class I have taken at the U hands down. Colee is the best professor I have ever had and I would recommend this class to anyone. She is so passionate about what she teaches and it shows. ALWAYS attend every class because you won't do well on the tests if you don't. This is the hardest class I have taken, but by FAR the most rewarding.
Colee is very funny and is really good at explaining laws. Not a lot of homework but there is required reading every week. You can get away with not reading everything in detail but a good skim is still needed. Her midterms are tricky, make sure you really understand the elements to the laws being covered.
Excellent professor, her content is very lecture heavy but she is a great lecturer. Very engaging content! This class is a smaller class, so you need to know the content enough to be called on for the assigned cases. She is also hilarious, knows her stuff, and handles questions very well.
Collee is one of the best teachers. The material is hard, but she prepares you very well for her tests. Most of the class is based off of the tests, so put in the time to study to actually UNDERSTAND the material, and you should do great. She tells you during her lectures the questions that will be on the tests, changing just a few things.
Colee is the best professor I have ever had all the way through my Master's classes. She makes the subject matter interesting and is more concerned about you understanding the concepts of law than memorizing stupid stuff and making you jump through hoops.
Amazing teacher!! Take this class from her and you will not regret it.
Colee is BY FAR the best professor I've had at the U. She is hilarious and makes the class so fun. There's a ton of reading but it isn't bad, the textbook is pretty easy. Tests are very challenging but if you know the stuff they aren't impossible. Class is hard but Colee makes it worth it. Seriously the best class offered!!!
Colee is everything you could ask for out of a college professor. She has professional experience, is knowledgable and excited about the subjects she teaches, and engages the class in a clear and compelling way. The class was based on participation and tests so she makes you work for it but with solid effort, you will get a lot out of her class.
Colee is a great professor. She is my favorite teacher I have had at the U so far. Required reading and attendance/participation does matter. Tests are pretty challenging but she does a fantastic job to prepare you. If you haven't taken Biz Law yet, I highly recommend taking it from her.
Colee is by far the best professor I have had at the University of Utah. She is so personable and really cares about you as an individual and not just another student. She really understands employment law and is great at teaching it. Great class to take if you need a management elective. There is a lot of reading but the textbook is good.
Shes one of the best professors Ive ever had at the U. Her exams are hard, but if you study the heck out of the slides then youll be okay.
Professor Pyne is probably the best professor I have had at the University of Utah so far. I often dread taking required courses because they can be dry, but I found myself getting excited to go to her class. Her lectures are fascinating, she engages the students, and the content is challenging (in a good way). I would highly recommend her!
Professor Pyne is one of my favorite professors. Her lectures are super interesting making it easy to follow and take notes. Her tests are difficult, but fair. Reading/participation is mandatory, and she is very passionate about teaching.
The class was definitely very challenging and required a lot of reading. Colee makes the class very interesting. She is very passionate about what she teaches and cares about the students. She talks fast but it was something I got used to. If you go to class, pay attention to the lectures, and do the reading then you'll do fine.
Professor Pyne absolutely lives up to her reputation. She is a fantastic teacher. The content can be difficult to learn, but she makes it understandable. She cares about her students and was an absolute rock star throughout the multiple crises we as students experienced this semester.
Colee is an amazing professor. Law can be a difficult subject to learn but, she makes it enjoyable and easier to understand. If you read the corresponding chapters and attend class you should get a good grade. Use the resources available to you.
Colee is fantastic. But don't expect a college business law course to be easy. You NEED to read and participate. You'll want to though because she brings up really interesting law cases and she welcomes ALL questions and "what if" scenarios. She is the most caring person, works her butt off for you. There are spontaneous raffles for gift cards too!
COLEE PRESENTS THE INFORMATION VERY WELL AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO EXPECT FROM HER CLASS. YOU HAVE TO ATTEND CLASS EACH TIME TO PASS AND THE EXAMS ARE CHALLENGING BUT IF YOU APPLY YOURSELF, YOU WILL SUCCEED. SHE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER AND SHE IS NEVER BELITTLING WHEN STUDENTS DON'T UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. 10/10 RECOMMEND!
There's a reason Colee is the #1 rated professor at the U. Read the material, take THOROUGH notes, and keep reviewing past material weekly and you'll do well. You need to participate, even if you're just asking questions. HEAVY curve, so you won't know til the last week how you're doing, really. The final is cumulative!
All the bad ratings on here are from people who didn't understand the material. the material is super hard but Colee does EVERYTHING to help you succeed. she explains everything well, always answers q's throughly, and curves as much as she can. my final was curved 20%. She is amazing. Study slides and the cases help you remember material for tests.
There is no doubt that Professor Pyne is one of my all time favorite professors at the U. Her Business Law class is very entertaining and informative even if you usually aren't interested by the legal profession. She is definitely one of those professors who you can and should keep contact with after your class with her ends.
Love prof Pyne and her lectures. Discussion is highly encouraged. This class is heavy and pretty difficult, but going to class is still fun and the info is really useful. Prof really knows what she's talking about, and is passionate about it. Regular hours with the TAs and prof so if you need help, you can get it. Lots of reading, heads up!
Prof is very knowledgeable and relays content in a way that's easy to understand. Also, the fairest teacher I've ever had. Lots of reading (as expected from a law class), but textbook supplements (prof actually does the teaching!). 1 project you can choose to work individually or with a partner. If you get the chance to take her, take it.
Colee is as goode as a professor gets. Tests are very concept heavy and can be tricky, but she does a good job of making sure that anything covered on the test is discussed in class, and gives plenty of hints.
The best professor I have ever had at the U.
Colee is so knowledgeable about the law. She makes lectures and class fun and engaging and that engagement helps with retaining the material. Stay on top of the readings, participate and go to/listen to all the lectures.
I took the summer course that was half online/half in person. She gave us videos to watch before the next class (ranging to about an hour), and then in class, she would refresh our memories and focus more on how it applies to real-world settings. I thought this class would feel like a chore but I am happy to say that it was quite the opposite.
Colee was very engaging and was a effective instructor, this course overall was interesting even if you have no interest in law. Participation is not only expected but graded. She does randomly call on you for court cases in the readings but overall a easy course to pass if you pay attention in lectures and study. Would highly recommended Colee.
Colee is an amazing professor. The class was a hybrid set up with recorded lectures and in person lectures (taken summer semester). She is always willing to answer any questions and she makes the class very engaging. BE SURE TO READ ALL OF THE CHAPTERS AND PAY ATTENTION TO HER LECTURES! Definitely one of the best professors at the U!
Colee is fantastic and very funny. She does a great job explaining everything. Read all material and be aware of quizzes. Teaches like the legendary Dr. ABE. She cares a lot.
Colee is easily one of the best professors because she is extremely passionate, caring, and knowledgeable. She is very clear about her expectations and the nature of the course. Definitely not an easy A but if you attend class consistently, contribute to discussions, and take advantage of extra credit opportunities, you will do just fine!
This class was HARD, don't get me wrong. But Colee is just such a light and enjoyable professor. She makes jokes, she has fun with the class. If you don't read and if you skip you won't pass, but honestly she's enjoyable enough skipping didn't cross my mind.
Professor Pyne was hands down one of the best professors I've had here at the U. She is dedicated to her work and genuinely cares for her students. This class comes with heavy material, so know that you will need to spend more time than average reading and studying. Colee gave us so many different opportunities to earn extra credit.
This was a very hard class. But it was also one of the most informative classes I've taken. Colee is an awesome teacher who is strict but fair. It is very important to participate, it raised my grade massively.
Professor Pyne is honestly one of the greatest professor at the University of Utah! It was a tough class with a lot of reading and heavy lectures. However, you can get an A in the class if you take extensive notes and come to class prepared to discuss! Pyne is hilarious and always made class engaging and understandable! She's very knowledgeable!
Colee was honestly an amazing teacher! Her class mainly consisted of reading from the textbook and going over what you read in class. There is no homework! just make sure to do your reading and attend class and you'll be fine! she is always open for questions and willing to help. She has a midterm and final which is curved.
Colee is easily the best professor at the U! Her teaching style is incredibly knowledgeable and fun, and the class is one of the most useful courses I've ever taken. The exams are difficult but if you pay attention to the lectures and review the slides you'll be fine (the healthy curve helps). The effort you put in is what you get out. Take it!
Colee is the BEST professor I've had. She makes her class fun and gives tons of opportunities to boost your grade. Your grade is mainly participation and exams, with one other assignment that is an easy way to get full points. The material is hard, but if you take good notes and study you'll do fine. She gives multiple extra-credit opportunities.
Colee is the best professor in the business school! You definitely have to put in work for the class. Ask questions if you're confused about anything!! READ THE CASES in the textbook. The extra practice cases at the end of each chapter are extremely helpful for studying.
Fantastic professor and not too much work as long as you divvy up the work throughout the week. Lectures moved quick but she made sure you knew what she was teaching. TBH I had straight Cs on the exams and near 100 in everything else and with the curve it came out to a B. Participate in class and there is no way you'll get lower than a B.
Horrible grader. Changed Canvas exam to proctored exam last minute and required us to do unnecessary things such as show the room behind your screen and behind you. This is an online class and is trying to force us to do exam's in person. Attendance is mandatory.
Colee is such a great professor who only wants her students to succeed. She gives you all the resources to and lots of opportunities for extra credit. The class and tests are easy as long as you go to class and read the textbook. 10/1o recommend.
Definitely one of the best professors at the U.
Very engaging, thoughtful, and kind. She's the best. Do the work and you'll do well.
This was probably one of my favorite classes I've taken so far at the U. You're graded on 1 assignment, 3 exams and participation so you can't skip class. A tip for studying for the exams that I found was to make sure you can actually apply the concepts, not just memorize them and the exams are a breeze. She curves on all exams as well which helps.
Great professor. She knows her stuff and explains hard concepts well. The law content is hard at first, but gets easier as you go. Most of the HW is reading and being prepared with cases each class. Participation is a large part of the grade. 3 curved exams, application of content is key. If you actually read the textbook/cases you will succeed.
Colee is great. Lectures are awesome and also supplemented with videos to reiterate concepts. A lot of reading, honestly I stopped reading the textbook and was fine. Make sure that you read the cases before class. Participation can make or break your grade show up to class. Loved this class and made me consider going to law school.
She is my favorite professor thus far. She wants her students to pass and understand the material so they can apply it in their careers. My hybrid class required attendance and cameras on. Her exams are extremely specific, and hard. However, if you participate in the lectures, ask questions, and read the material you shouldn't have any issues.
B law is hard no matter who you take it from but Colee is certainly the best option. So much extra credit offered and she prepares you really well for exams. I really didn't like the material or class but I did like Colee as a professor. Attendance is mandatory and you are mostly graded on exams, though.
This class has been my favorite that I've taken here at the U so far. Colee does an AMAZING job at explaining hard-to-learn concepts and throws a lot of humor into her lectures. This class requires more reading than I've ever experienced, but it was all very fascinating and worth it! Even if I wasn't required to take this course, I would take it!
Amazing teacher. It is an intensive course with a lot of reading regardless of the teacher because of the content, but there is no one else I would rather take this class from. Very approachable, helpful, and reasonable with grading. Recommend.
she's so great! one midterm, one final, one court hearing paper, participation. midterm and final are curved heavily which was amazing. she also curved our overall grade. our class was hybrid, so just watch the lectures, read the case studies and go to class and you'll do fine. i never read the textbook at all, just took decent enough notes
Colee is one of the best professors at the U. I was worried about taking B-law as I've heard it's a difficult class. However, Colee made it one of my favorite classes! Be prepared to do lots of reading and participate in class (this is a crucial part of your grade). Take advantage of extra credit opportunities and TA office hours!
Colee was a great professor in a class that was really difficult. My section was half in class and half recorded lectures which worked well for me. Very participation heavy but she offers a lot of extra credit options upfront. She's very understanding and was willing to shift exams due to an injury I had. I really recommend taking Blaw with her!
Professor Pyne is a fantastic instructor—clear, engaging, and supportive. Just be prepared: your grade is based mainly on two exams, and there are only 8–9 practice problems. Start studying at least 2–3 weeks before each exam. Read the textbook, take good notes, and use the Quizlets under her name—they're super helpful for review.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken from the university. I didn't even pay attention to the lectures, read the textbook, or do any of the participation. I just recorded the lectures made a transcript, and put it in chatgpt to make notes. I also asked it to make practice tests. I got an A by doing the least amount of work. Lol
As a senior, she is the best professor I have had while at the university. She really knows her stuff and genuinely cares and gives good feedback. I would strongly encourage you take her because I wish I took more of her classes. GOAT Professor.
Professor Pyne is an amazing professor! She did such a great job at making the Zoom class engaging and helpful for learning law, especially for me who was not familiar with law. She offers plenty of extra credit opportunity and points for class participation. Just make sure to watch her lecture videos and study for the exams 1-2 weeks in advance.
This is one of these required business courses that is mostly a waste of time. However, there are some important topics. Colee is passionate about what she teachers and wants her students to succeed. Participation matters but you can get away with not participating in class, just make sure you do all the readings, quizzes, & extra credit. Good luck
