I took her for Intro and race and gender and loved them both! She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you want to learn a lot about sociology take her! She's the reason I'm going to grad school.

She makes the class interesting and had a balanced way of grading. She uses a combination of in-class tests and online quizzes. Her lecrures are interesting and funny and she shows good films. My favorite class.

i really enjoyed taking her class- it made me more intersted in the subject. There were some annoying people in the class- but she was level headed towards them even though they were quite obnoxious. i thank her for teaching such a wonderful course- im going to take more of her classes!

She explained things well- she was open to all ideas- she allowed the students to talk - and then took those ideas and applied them to what we were being taught- it made the class more relevant.I'm going to take more

friendly, easy to talk to, but is serious.- she doesnt mess around with immature 'college students'- go into her class wanting to learn. im getting alot out of her class- challenging, but intriguing. she's what college should be like.

Very good professor. Ideal for juniors and seniors. Very liberal but fair. She will listen and be respectful to any ideas or opinions. Very nice and a dear friend after only two classes. If you are young or closed minded dont even try. Otherwise, have fun.

i really enjoyed her class. if you're closed minded and not willing to learn new perspectives- i wouldn't take her classes. she taught me many different povs. if there was a problem- it was probably the rude people in the class she had to deal with.

I love her, she is one of my favorite prof's and convinced me to open up to other perspectives. She says what other people are afraid to say. I highly recommend her. Its a heavy class load but an easy one and gets easier throughout the semester. TAKE HER

She's incredibly smart and helpful

Every class consist of lectures which to me were extremely interesting and insightful. She reviews the day before the test and its smart to write down whatever she says that day. All our test were online so ur able to use ur book while testing. We took a total of 9 test (includin final & midterm). She's extremely nice & expects u to go to class.

the class was very easy. she was also very easy to get along with outside of class if you needed help with anything. although, she was BORING! the class was strictly lecture, and she laughed at her own stupid jokes a lot.

She was awesome! has a great personality, made class funny and interesting at times. occassionally the lectures were boring but on those days just fall asleep and you wont be disturbed or miss anything you'll regret. online tests are a breeze, just use the index in the readings to get the answers. you people who commented bad on her must be retarded

She is awesome! I can't understand why you guys didn't like her! Her lectures were interesting, her tests were WAY EASY and the assigned reading was minimal and related to what is happening in the world. You will learn a lot from her. Go to class and Listen... easy A.

Extreme feminist. Hates men, you can tell after just 1 lecture. The readings were pretty bad, but if you showed up for class the few days before while she goes over the material and write down everything and study that, you should know what your expected to learn. Tests were easy, she gave us them on blackboard which meant open notes and book.

let's see, all your tests are on blackboard and she lets you re-take it as many times as you need and you have unlimited time to finish them, basically you could be in a coma and get an A.

The people complaining about her are the people who never show up to class. Go to class, study and you will get an A. She is insightful, and always willing to answer questions. She also shows videos and clips on current issues which apply to readings. I plan on taking her again!

Current Social Issues was a great class! We had a class project where we raised money for the ppl of pine ridge reservation. In class movies which are relevant to readings. Lots of textbooks but easy reads. Tests are online, even the final. Grant also infuses the class with real life stories, and involves the class w/ discussion. Take her classes!!

It's a lecture class, unless willing to take notes, do not take this class. Extremely insightful, even if some of the text is not that exciting. Six online quizzes, one in-class midterm, and one in-class final. First quiz a little confusing if not understanding of what exactly she's looking for. Otherwise, very down to earth and helpful.

Great teacher, quizzes were online. Midterm and final were in class, quite liberal with attendance. Wasn't a difficult class at all, as long as you listen to the cues for the tests that she gives in class.

3rd time taking her. She is always helpful, if you have a problem w/ a quiz ask for help and she'll most likely let you take it over. Loves showing films. This class had 2 10 pg pprs, 5 books 2 read, and 5 quizzes (online). A lot of work, but it was a 400 lvl class. I enjoyed her lectures, and would take her classes again. 100 lvl classes were easy

It was a very interesting class. Everyone could learn a lot from her. She opens your mind to a lot of things. She does not oppose her opinion on you only states the facts. Those who thinks she's a feminist have a chip on their shoulder. She tells it like it is. I found her class and opinions very intersting.

She is so nice! You'll think she's crazy but really I think you should appreciate her because no one else at NKU will be that loving towards students. She really cares about everyone and seems like a feminist who hates rich white men but really she just speaks her mind and I only WISH my other teachers could be like her. Class is pretty easy too.

Be in class: First day, day before midterm, midterm, class before final, final. All grades other than the midterm and final are taken from online quizzes. When I was going to class and looking over my notes for the online quizzes I wasn't doing well. Once I stopped going to class and just sat down with my book to take the quiz I started doing well.

Fantasic teacher! Although we read a lot of books over the semester (4), she keeps it interesing during discussion. She is passionate about what she does, provides insightful experiences, and overall is a great professor. I would recommend it to any soc. majors!

I always study A LOT. But, do not do so great at her tests. They tend to be confusing, and not exactly what she talked about in class. I like her as a person, and she cares a great deal about her students. But if you are looking to take her, be prepared to have a hard time with her tests.

EASY take her the tests are online and so easy.

I liked Dr. Grant as a person and as a professor, she was okay. I actually hate sociology (but it WAS a gen-ed requirement) so I didn't always pay attention in class, but this is important to do if you take her. If she covers it, it's on a test. She will also tend to put her beliefs into the course at times so I hope that doesn't bother you.

She is profoundly enthusiastic, passionate, opinionated and she's a social activist. If you're going into sociology I have a hard time imagining a more suitable professor. She has had a sincere impact on my life not only academically but philosophically and culturally. She's the first person in my entire life who had me consider spirituality.

I thought she was a good teacher. She does take attendence but as long as you show up most of the time you should get full cradit. She is willing to help anyone who comes to her. You do have to try in this class but if you do you should do well.

Dr. Grant does care about her students but you have to show her that you care about your education in return. If you are expecting a class where you are handed an A just for being there, this isn't it. However, if you show up for most of the classes willing to learn and present a genuine interest, a fair grade will follow. She?s a good professor.

Dr. Grant is a very caring teacher who really wants her students to learn. While her class was rather difficult for me at times, she was always willing to help when I asked. The assignments were very straightforward, and classes were full of interesting discussions. If activism is your thing, this is a great class and a great professor to work with

The majority of the class focused on our reading, discussing, and writing about the three books assigned. It was hard work but Dr. Grant really helped me when I asked. She cares about her students and that they learn, so don't think you can put in minimal effort and expect an A. I've recommended her before and will continue to do so.

Okay seriously whats with all the hate towards this lady? Although her class is EXTREMELY boring, she is a very helpful nice lady. Easiest A you'll probably ever have. Everything online, attendance not mandatory, must get the book. How much better can it get?

Very on topic. Lectures are on what the student has taken from the articles on the book and how we as students feel. It has helped me to appreciate my world so much more and the cultures around me. I have more of an understanding of things and my eyes are more open now. I am glad she lets the class express their views as well...

She is a very nice person and if you go to her with questions on something she will definitely help you. However, there are only 5 assignments. 4 online tests and one 5-7 page paper, so if you do bad on a few of these your grade will plummet. She lectures about stuff not related to the topic, too.

Though her lectures often run over on time and drag a little bit, she wants to help you get through the class. As long as you do the readings before they are discussed and take notes in class the tests are a breeze. The tests are all online as is the final paper, which is explained explicitly in the syllabus at the beginning of the semester.

Professor Grant is extremely knowledgable & her lectures are very intriguing. Since Ive began her class I've opened my eyes to so many more things. She is a terrific person and though her lectures seem very long at times and there is a lot of reading, you are educated on many many things. I recommend this class to everyone.

She's an amazing professor. This class required a lot of reading but the books are really interesting and worth the read. She turns it more into a class discussion where we just tell our opinions and then she'll give us questions to think and talk about.

Dr. Grant is the best professor I have ever had. Reading all of these negative reviews of her makes me sick. It is extremely easy to get a 100% in any of Dr. Grant's classes, you just have to do the reading and write a VERY short synopsis of what you read. Classes are discussion based, and very fun. You will learn SO much from her, if you try.

Dr. Grant is a very nice and caring Professor. This specific class is completely Lecture, discussion, and reading based. No homework assigned all semester. No points for participation. Only grades are 5 tests and a Final Paper. Final paper isn't too bad and acts as the Exam. If you read what is assigned and pay attention, you can get an A.

I really enjoyed this class, there are only 4 tests and they are all open book online. The reading material is interesting but there is a lot of it. The final paper counts as your final and it is fairly simple. Class is discussion based, just make sure you keep up with the readings.

Genuinely cares about you, your learning experience, and your personal life. Is easy to work with and is very flexible. Would highly recommend taking her at any level.

The thing was Professor Grant is she is truly a great educator. She is heavy on discussions because she wants to hear what you have to say. She is extremely respected and she is very personable. She uses upwards of 4 textbooks which seems like alot but they are riveting pieces of text that are really the foundation of your sociological perspective.

I took Professor Grant's class in my freshman year, and she really helped me gain an understanding on how to do research for future classes and how to properly write papers at a college level. She's very knowledgeable and as long as you do the weekly assignments you'll pass with an A no problem!

Nicole Grant is one of my favorite sociology teachers at NKU! Her lecture materials are very easy to follow and she provides amazing additional sources when needed. She's very clear about what she's looking for and assignments are always very well explained and fairly graded. I take classes with this teacher as often as possible!!

There is a lot of reading for this course and discussions to complete, but I personally learned a lot from this course. The quizzes at the beginning of the semester were really long; all of her quizzes are short-answer questions, but towards the end of the semester we had fewer questions to answer. She is very understanding and easy to talk to.
