She is very nice and friendly if you take notes and study exactly what she gives you the test should be very easy and you will pass!
She is an amazing teacher that makes learning Sociology a breeze! If your going to take a Sociology class make sure its hers! One of the nicest teachers I have so far at Nova.
She is a very inspiring, knowledgeable yet easy instructor! I just love her class !
Wonderful, wonderful professor. You have to attend class and do the work, but her interesting lectures and style of teaching makes you not want to miss any of the classes and get your work done anyway. I recommend her highly. You will absolutely love her.
Excited about teaching. Used real life and personal experiences. She was clear about what she expected and her class had a very chill atmosphere. Plus she's hot.
If you are good at writing papers, then you should be good in this class with an easy grade. Just read the textbook & small assigned readings outside of the class & you should be fine. Her hotness created interest in the class. Two exams & two quizzes! Easiest teacher I've had. AMAZING!
Nicole is the best teacher I had at NOVA. I took 2 of her classes. She knows what she is talking about and more importantly she can explain things so even the dumbest person in the will get it. If you do the reading part and participate in the class discussions you will learn so much more. The class is so great that you would not want to miss it
Awesome professor, great at relaying the information and making it logical to everyone. Has a great personality and very active in the classroom, you will not be bored. Just read the material and go hang out, that simple!
I would highly recommend taking this professor! Professor McCoy is by far the best professors I have had in my college career! She is so passionate about her work and relates Sociology easily to everyday life! Just make sure you do all the reading and take notes because the exams are based on that.
Hard on the essay grammar. 2 Exams. Pop quizzes. Too much reading articles. Very engaging class (I never felt sleepy)! Explanations are very clear. Her notes are very useful.
She is an amazing teacher. She is inspiring and made me look at everything with a different perspective. One of the best classes I've taken.
She is very clear on things . 2 exams, 2 pop quizes and 2 essays all semester. Her way of teaching is great and she is very helpful. Attendence is mandatory. As long as you keep up with the readings you will do great. I got an A ..
Professor McCoy is AWESOME! She's smart, funny, outgoing, passionate, and she makes sociology understandable! If you are REALLY interested in learning, then take her. If you're looking for an easy A without doing any work, then move on. As long as you're responsible, you'll get the most out of her class!
my only complaint is that she allows the class to interupt too much...which slows down the learning process. to much joking and humor from students is not good for ppl who r really there to learn. otherwise good class
It's hard at the beginning but just do all the reading and try to participate. She's extremely helpful. Will review draft of your essays.
2 test, 2 papers, NO study guides! Try not to miss class because that is your study guide. She is really funny and quirky. I love attending her classes! Read all the material and attend class and you'll be fine!
Ms. McCoy is a fantastic teacher. She is really clear in her discussions and doesn't mind repeating herself if you get lost. She has great stories to tell that relate to sociology and she keeps the class on track! Now she only gave us 4 grades, so it may not be best for a person that struggles more in sociology, but you will learn in this class!
AMAZING teacher. Took her for both SOC 101 and 202. TAKE HER!!!!!
very hard grader, never take any class with her...
she is good lecturer but very hard in grades. if you want to maintain your grade never take class with her.search for other soc professors.
Took this class during summer. There is a LOT too read but the classes where very interesting. Prof. McCoy is smart, funny, spunky and quick to respond to any question you may have during class- really enjoyed having her as a teacher. 2 essays and 2 tests. A lot of reading, if you like to write you will do well in her class. I recommend it.
As she is a full time professor at nvcc, she doesn't care for students progress. Though lectures are good, no notes, hard exams, strict writing for paper writing.
Very hard grader. Do not take this class.
Took this class this summer. I felt like this course is good for those whose major is social science. For students with other majors it will be very hard to make a good grades. Most of the students get C and D.
Professor McCoy is an excellent teacher and relies more on a chalk and board style lecture than PowerPoint. The readings are useful and she is skilled at relating in class material to the real world. Anyone seeking to actually learn should take her class, although the class is not particularly difficult. Just try and you will do well.
Be careful for grades..
Professor McCoy is a GREAT teacher. No, her class is not easy but she goes over all of the reading assignments thoroughly. We learned! She welcomes questions because she wants students to understand. As for the papers, she is patient and works with students. She offers to read drafts before submission and reminds everyone about the Writing Center.
Although the lectures are interesting she is very tough for writing and grades.good for those who don't worry for grades and only want to participate in lectures. others majors student should be very careful for writing and exams.
Professor McCoy is a good professor. I got a B because the tests through me off. Make sure you have her edit your essay before you turn it in. Ask to email it o her like two days before it's due. You need the textbook!
Professor McCoy's class is really cool. She loves what she teaches and wants to make sure we learn all the info. Watch the essays. Just ask her to look at them before you turn them in. I say take this class if you want to learn something about sociology!
Don't listen to any of the people that say she isn't a good teacher and is a hard grader. If you know how to write a paper, and pay attention in class you'll do fine. My major is nursing and I took her class as a filler. I absolutely loved it! If you're not an incompetent person, take this class for an easy A. She's awesome!
She is a hard grader. You will really feel unhappy with the grades.
To say she's a hard grader is a misconception of which I'd like to disabuse you. All she asks for is a short extemporaneous paper in response usually to something you've talked about in class or something you viewed in class(then talked about). If you can't handle that then you have a bigger problem than your grade in her class. Highly recommended
She's a pretty cool teacher. Makes the concepts easier to understand. True it's not a easy class but you learn a lot. If you study and so the reading assignments you will be fine. pay attention during lectures because it helps!!! I am taking her 202 later.
I took her class this past fall semester and she was the best teacher I've had so far. Not planning to be a Sociology major but was very interested in the class. She makes you want to go to every class by her way of teaching. Totally recommend her, she loves what she teaches, which makes you love it too!
Professor McCoy is a joy to take. The woman is hilarious and her lectures are upbeat and keep you engaged. However, her grading is tough especially with essays. GO TO THE WRITING CENTER! She loves when you do. Overall knowledgeable you will learn!
She is a wonderful professor, she knows what she is teaching and she makes the class very interesting. Not a hard class if you read the book and the articles she assigns. She will help you if you ask her! She is really cool and i enjoyed her class a lot!
Take proper notes, study the notes, study what she has talked about in class and you will get an A. We had 2 tests and 2 papers, all easy if you come to class and pay attention.
She is a very inspirational professor. She offers a lot of great examples for the sociological concepts used in class. Lastly, she allows for students to argue their points in exams. I highly recommend this professor.
Very dedicated sociology teacher. She gets upset if you don't read in advance, and in reality there's not that much to read. She lets you pick either 4 essays or 2 essays 2 tests. I went with the 4-essay option, submit a draft a couple days before, and got an A on every single paper.
Professor Hindert has inspired me like no other teacher has. She is very willing to explain unclear subject matters as many times as you may need. Also if you take notes on her lectures the exam will be very easy to pass(just write everything she emphasizes on). 100% recommend taking her class.
She is a very nice professor. You definitely need to read. She is very good at explaining, making it fun and interesting. She is very nice so if you ever need to ask a question she is good. She is also very fashionable. I only had to do one essay. Her test are multiple choice, word bank, truefalse, short answers and she has bonus questions.
Easy A if you read the book and take notes in class. All all her exams comes from what she talks about in class so it's important to show up. No need to read the book just mostly definitions, but she explians the ones she wants you to know in class. Exams were easy: mutiple choice, fill in the blank, TF, short answer. Class was so fun and shes fun
SHE'S AMAZING! Best teacher i've ever had. you need to skim the book to pass. TAKE NOTES IN CLASS! you need them for the tests. her essays are easy. she's really helpful! she made me really interested in sociology. this is the only class i willingly attend. i'm going to take her class next semester! you're going to learn a lot. have fun! (:
Super Fun teacher, absolutely loved her! I never got the textbook but I regret it. Ended up starting a study group after the second test because I didn't want a C in the class. She doesn't cut you any slack so be prepared to study! I do recommend her class. Lectures were so much fun
I always looked forward to her classes, and left each time feeling like I've gained a new perspective of the world-- as well as a ton of knowledge. You have to read the book and the articles, but what do you expect?? This is a college course. She is a fair grader and her tests are 100% true to what she talked about in class. I HIGHLY recommend.
Amazing professor. She really knows her material and lectures are always interesting and intriguing. Four exams and one essay. You'll be just fine with skimming through the chapters in the book + taking notes in class. Definitely take her class, you'll love it!!
This is the best professor Iv'e had in college by far! She makes you think and question the way things are in the world. You have to read some article for class, but it really isn't that much, she tells you what to study for tests and has great discussions in class with the students. her rating on here should be much higher!
No interaction at all, the course with this instructor was not fun. She had told our class that she graduated from a university where you didnt take any EXAMS and explains how she doesnt believe taking exams would define us as a person. Yet she gives us 4 very hard exams that weighs 200pts each! She should do projects to be a fair graders.
She seems to really like what she teaches and the vibe transmits right away. If you're a guy, you must take this class. That burning chilly is spot on lol . . She's great
Professor Hindert is definitely the best professor I have ever had. She opens your eyes and makes you see a new world. You read a lot but what she gives you to read is interesting and relevant to life. 2 essays 2 exams and a final. Honestly, if you just read and take notes and also engage in class discussion you will pass. I recommend taking her!!
I absolutely loked Her! She was very clear about the essay critera and replies to emails and rough drafts very fast :)
She's great at explaining hard concepts through real life examples. She doesn't grade that harshly . if she sees your effort she' ll help you if you need it. There is usually 2 essays and 3 exams . There is a lot of reading though. and she can tell if you didn't read
She's nice, cute, dresses great. But her tests are very hard, worth a lot too. she gives no extra credit and there's a lot of reading to be done for the class. Her class was fun though .
She is great, very passionate about Sociology and makes class interesting. I liked her a lot!
She's an awesome teacher. Really easy to understand. Very attractive, makes it easier to pay attention. Tests are not hard and she gives a chance to argue your answers on tests. All around fun teacher and class. Would take again.
Lectures were always intuitive and interesting. I always enjoyed coming to class.
She is very descriptive and uses examples that help the more detailed and difficult concepts hit home. Great enthusiasm, really pulls you into the course even if you thought you hated sociology before. Eye-opener, I felt myself mature throughout the semester and grow as a person as I was made aware the reality of what really went on in the world.
Hands down one of the best professors I have had! She's very knowledgeable in what she is teaching, and you can tell she really loves Sociology. Because of her I want to minor in sociology now. She's just a wonderful person to be around. Her tests are completely fair and her essays aren't hard at all. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER
Great teacher, she really knows what she is talking about. Took soc 200 with her and am taking her again. Reading is a great thing to do it will prepare you best for exams but lectures are very important. BE sure to take notes in class. Tests are fair and the research paper was not bad at all. Easily answers questions and is clear in lectures.
I absolutely adore Prof. Hindert. She's amazing and I'm so glad I took Soc 200. That class got me to discover my passion and I changed my major to Sociology because of her. I'll take any class Prof. Hindert teaches.
Tests are your only grade and the study guide is coming to class. Be sure to take good notes during class. List examples and concepts she mentions, she will bring them up on the test. It is easy to miss a question if you didn't study. Great lectures, real life examples.
Prof Hindert is as good as they come. Lectures are interesting and funny. She really draws you in and even the most quiet kids participate regularly. She does assign a lot of reading, but its relevant material and not the usual boring theoretical mumbo jumbo. If you want your eyes opened to the world, take her class. She will inspire you.
Nicole is by far the best professor I've had at NOVA. She is clearly passionate about the subject and that makes the classes engaging and fun. Although the exams are long, if you take notes and read the book you will be fine. She wont hand you an A on a platter, you have to work for it, but that's what college is about, right?
To be honest when i first believed her exams were tough, but later I took her SOC 200 and SOC 201 courses and she is amazing. She really knows how to relate her material to real life situations and she opens up your perspective to everything. As long as you study exactly what she lectures in class you're good. Just know the examples she gives you.
Dr Hindert is the best. The material on the tests come directly from her daily lectures- so take notes. Her lectures are funny, and full of passion and knowledge. She brings the concepts to life during her lectures. Reading is necessary to pass this class which should be expected. I loved her much, I switched my major to Sociology. Great class!
Dr. Hinbert is an awesome teacher who grades very fair and is willing to help you if you're not understanding. She also stays back at the end of class to answer any questions that the students might have. Her tests are based on the readings and her lectures, no surprises on her test. I definitely recommend her b/c she knows her stuff. Highly rec..
Professor Hindert, is the best sociologist at NVCC. She is extremely outgoing and makes the class enjoyable! You will not regret it. Also, she does not give test or quizzes. She does requires for you to know the material before class and has 3 total essays. She does not give extra credit, so just do the work it's not hard. She's amazing!
Professors Hindert is one of the best professors I have ever seen in my entire life. But her test are hard and you need to focus and write notes in the class to pass.
Awesome teacher, gives many examples so you can understands concepts. Test are hard, as long as you study your notes that she gives youll pass. You will learn something by the end of the semester for sure
Professor Hindert is amazing. She is by far the best professor I have had at NVCC. She is passionate and transcends that passion to her students. You do not even realize you are learning! You have to attend her lectures because she gives so much information-prepare to read because she cant go over everything in lecture.
Great teacher, explains everything you need to know before tests.
Professor Hindert is an Amazing teacher! She does an awesome job at explaining things. Great thought provoking lectures. Tests are fairly easy, as long as you take good notes in class and read the text book. There's 1 essay assignment, which is also fairly easy. I would definitely recommend taking professor hindert!
I don't normally like humanities classes, but I took Dr Hindert's 6 week course and loved it. Her lectures are engaging and she forces you to think critically about your life and the world around you. I didn't read the textbook and still did very well, test questions taken right from her lectures. go to class, take notes, and you will do well.
Dr. H's good! Digs in2 the y and makes u think about urself. Tests r from lectures (must go). Take notes (4 every term, think of an example). Book's way 2 long compared 2 what's in lecture/exams, so I'd skim b4 class. The more u participate in class, the better. Start on the 1 essay (another 1's optional) early. Answer The Industrial Revolution ;)
She makes the class fun and somehow makes things she teaches related to others. The only assignments are an essay or 2. Her tests are just about every you learned from lecture, and she will tell you how the tests are structured, so you only end up studying 5-7 pages amount of notes. Take her for sociology and thank me later.
Dr. Hindert is the best ever. Her lectures are amazing and engaging. Test material is directly from her lectures so take notes. . She explains theories and content in a way that anybody can understand. Outstanding teacher and would definitely take her as many times as possible.
Best teacher I have ever had. I have taken all her classes, both levels of sociology and gender as well as ethnicity class. She keeps you engaged, awake, and understands you. She opens your eyes and allows you to challenge yourself. Usually 3-4 essays through the semester, nothing crazy.
She makes sociology easy to understand. Amazing professor. Does not give extra credit so don't ask her for it. Take notes during class and that's your study guide for tests. Come to class with an open mind and don't get offended easily because she speaks her mind!! Very knowledgable and intelligent professor.
Professor Hindert is amazing!! Her lectures were interesting and entertaining, she has an outgoing personality and is able to incorporate it into her lectures. The tests are hard if you don't study but overall they're pretty straight forward. I would definitely recommend taking this professor.
Best professor you will ever find. Take her classes just to be taught by her because she is an amazing speaker. Her lectures don't seem like lectures and you wont notice how time flies. The tests are on exactly what she teaches and explains through really interesting examples and scenarios. Incredibly personable and she understands.
You'd commit a crime by not taking Professor Hindert class. She's amazing and knows how to teach. Just write down the stuff she writes on the board and read the chapters assigned. That's it essentially no homework is given. No class with her is a boring one. She will make you view the world in a whole new light. NOVA is lucky to have her!!!
All I can say is that so far she's the only professor to have made a huge impact on my life through her class.
I had Hindert for Sociology of Race & Ethnicity and she was amazing. She never got angry or impatient at questions or comments, and fostered great discussions. She's also a really easy grader. The class is mostly a group discussion between her and the students, so if you don't like lectures, this is the perfect class!
She is an amazing professor. Only four test, no HW, no in class assignments, no final, no midterm. Being in class is important because she gives lectures and notes which are very helpful for the test. Very helpful and very knowledgeable.
How the heck does Prof HIndert have just a 4.4? The 100% speaks for itself tho. By far the BEST PROFESSOR out there. Hilarious. Down to earth. Interesting. Thought Provoking. Eye opening. Constantly find myself quoting and referencing her and recommending her class to other people. Makes u love soc. Prof Hindert is the GOAT. Take a class. Trust me.
What an exceptional professor. if you want to learn soc. and want to learn it from the best take her class. I can not say enough good things about this professor, her lectures are amazing. She is knowledgeable and inspirational.
Professor Hindert was AMAZING! I took her 5 week class in the summer which made the class very fast paced and we had a test almost every week... BUT Prof. Hindert was clear about grading, what was expected, and only tested us on things said in lecture. I didn't read the textbook and still passed with a high A. I would recommend her to all people!
Professor Hindert is an amazing professor. I actually learned a lot in her class. She cares a lot about her students. You will need to rent or buy the online text book at least. She gives online weekly quizzes & all of the answers are in the readings. She also gives two small writing assignments, one major research paper & a presentation. All easy.
100% recommend her! Her lectures were eye opening, almost always interesting. She only gave 5 major graded assignments, so every assignment was 20%. No extra credit but on the test, you can always redeem yourself. She allows you to explain your answers on test and the essays are based on your personal experiences (of course using the concepts).
I have transferred to VCU after taking Hindert at NOVA and 3 years after taking her I am writing a comment on her rate my prof page, If that doesn't tell you how amazing she is and the type of impact she leaves on her students, i don't know what will. She is definitely my favorite teacher ever. Her examples and stories are so memorable too.
Her lectures are really good at explaining all the content in the textbook and is whats on her exams, so I wouldn't recommend skipping. Gives lots of examples within her lecture and is good at answering questions. Do all the writing assignments on time and does do quizzes but all of them are due at the end of the semester. Definitely take her!
She is an AMAZING professor. If you write down all the notes in class you don't really have to read the book/ articles. Since she doesn't use powerpoints, I recommend coming to every class. She doesn't give extra credit but she will give bonus points on her tests. I swear I got a B on the final but she bumped up my grade to an A!
SHE IS AMAZING! HER LECTURE ARE SOOO INTERESTING! STUDY AND YOU WILL GET AN A!
Dr. Hindert is by far one of the best teachers I've had at NOVA. She is truly passionate about what she teaches, so it makes the class more enjoyable. I would recommend paying attention in her lectures & writing notes. The book definitely comes in handy if you miss important information from the lecture. Would love to have her as a professor again!
I took Nicole for Race and Ethnicity this semester and I also took her Sociology of Gender course, and I have to say that she's one of the few professors that I have absolutely adored in my academic career. Not only is she clear and concise in her lectures, she truly makes learning fun. Her lectures fly by because of how many ppl participate in em!
Sociology is a very complex class, has a LOT to cover. I felt that without her as my professor I would've struggled so much. She makes lectures super clear and interesting; she complements it with great examples and notes on the board about key parts of the chapter and relevant sociologists. Take her class, she makes all the difference!!
Best professor i've ever had at. She really made me look at society differently, the actual material is not meant easy but it was soooo easy because she teaches the class as if she's talking to a friend. Amazing professor. Attendance is not a must but if you miss class you miss a lot
She is one of the profesors that give NOVA such a high standard. One you take her class, you will be transformed (no joke). You will never see the world the same again, aka sociological imagination. Yes, you need to read the textbook and do the little quizes but that's it. Four exams and a final. TAKE HER!
Nicole Hindert has been by far my FAVORITE professor I have ever had! This class literally transformed the person I am and I now see the world in a different way (cheesey but true!). I've never been so excited about actually going to class every day. Her lectures were the highlight of my day.
We had 4 exams throughout semester. She is extremely amazing the way she teaches.
This is the most amazing professor I've had. She makes the lectures so interesting I was actually looking forward to the days I had her class. The tests and online quizzes are all straight forward. She changed the way I look at everything now even though I took her or only 6 weeks in the summer. Take her. You won't regret it.
Great teacher, her lecture are really eye opening, one of the only teachers at NOVA i have taken multiple classes with. Dont hesitate.
Prof Hindert is super cool and doesnt assign ANY HOMEWORK. However, that means that your grade is based on exams and quizzes only so if youre not a good test taker I wouldnt recommend taking her class.
Prof. Hindert is a great professor. She is very passionate about her job and her way of teaching. She has played a role in how I see our society now. She has really taught me a lot. Trust me and everyone who has rated her highly because she really is great. She also grades fairly just make sure to attend every lecture.
Dr. Hindert is great. Shes really smart and always makes her lectures topical. Your grade is primarily exam-based but absolutely doable if you commit yourself. I will say I was a bit stressed out over how detailed the exams are, because theres no saving your grade if you do poorly on an exam. Be sure to read and pay attention in lecture.
She is very caring and nice. She engages with the students and makes sociology fun to learn. Her exams are mostly lecture based you need to read also but if you know the topic well enough you can pass the tests.
She is an incredible professor who really cares about her students. She makes all students feel welcome and comfortable. I learned a lot and it was the first time I felt confident raising my hand and participating in a college class.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE professor Hinderts lectures. She didn't read off the slides and she was just someone who had many stories to tell. What I didn't like were the exams.(Hybrid class, so online exam) 30 multiple choice and two essay questions done before an hour and thirty. It was hard. Were only being graded on 4exams. 250 each1000 points
Professor Hindert was so amazing!! She makes you view society so differently with her lectures. This class was the best class Ive taken so far & will surely take it again! Your grades are weighted by the tests which arent bad at all, its so worth it!
Amazing professor!!! definitely recommend her
Fantastic experience. Those who are in a sociology-oriented major are lucky to have such a great professor to guide them. I took SOC200 to fulfill a requirement for an unrelated degree, and every lecture was interesting and enlightening. You can always see how much she cares about what she's doing and how much passion she has for it.
Most sociology professors don't get it, she does. While she is extremely smart and qualified she still respectfully listens to other opinions and gives everyone a chance. Your grade is solely based on reading homework so as long as you do it well you will earn an A. No test or quizzes just a backhand of reality.
No extra credit, study guides, dropping test grade, rounding grades & there's hard 20 point written questions. 50 point bonus written questions on things that were never covered. Notes are different from the tests she doesn't want you to memorize. 4 chapters in each test & 5 tests overall. "The grade you receive is the grade you've earned."
Prof. Hindert is awesome. She's very caring & wants to make sure she reaches every student. I also love how knowledgeable & passionate she is! She even has put up practice quizes which include many questions that are used in the actual exams so it's very easy to study for her exams.
Best professor EVER! Things that she has taught me I actually apply in life and used. She is very helpful thoughtful and inspiring. She cares about her students and teaches in a way that anyone can understand even if they arent knowledgeable about the subject. I cant wait to take another class with her!
i lovedddd her lectures, she was so passionate and made you think and question so much about today's society and the world in general. very interesting lectures, she had 4 big tests on every few chapters she taught, no homework and that was basically your grade, so make sure you do well on the tests-- tests were also easy if you paid attention
Grades are strictly based on how well you do on the exams. You will receive no credit for attendance, so there is no incentive to show up to class since the professor states the class is not mandatory. The lectures are pointless, when you're forced to read the textbook. She is passive aggressive and will show it when she grades the exams. Horrible.
Hindert was so kind & funny. Grades depend on a semester-long project that pretty much has you writing a paper (4-5 pages) each week. The final is your presentation. Lectures are so interesting and feel so short. She provides pdfs of the readings, she'll ask about them in lectures. Easy grader, easy A if you're interested in social problems.
I took Prof. Hindert's 6 week online course this summer and I absolutely loved it. Prof. Hindert made sure that the material was not just understood, but applicable to everyday life. The lectures weren't too long, but make sure to take good notes since the course is compiled of five tests based on her lectures
Professor Hindert is awesome. She is somewhat of a harsh grader but she is very respectable and likable. SOC 268 has a lot of homework, but SOC 200 has literally none. She's super real and funny. Someone I would want to go out drinking with.
I just took the six-week course with Dr. Hindert. She's smart, thoughtful, and fair. Warning: she wants you to think! She's hamstrung by the material - the textbook is mediocre and the test questions are from the book (plus three short-answer questions on the four exams). I shifted my fall schedule to add SOC 266. She's the best prof. I've had yet
Professor Hindert gives good lectures.
If you're taking her for ELI... Please don't. I saw most of the reviews were lecture based. Her ELI course is sooooo hard. So much work. I feel like she thinks this is the only class I'm taking. I'm not even exaggerating and I am a really hard worker. First week we had 4 quizzes, 3 discussions and 1 paper bro. Are you kidding me?? DUE inONE WEEK!??
Took this class as an online, 7-week version and it was not easy. There is lots of hw and papers due each week to make up for no lecture, but Dr. Hindert is very understanding of the workload. She understands that online 7-week classes arent easy since they are designed by NVCC. I wish I took her with lecture because she is an amazing person!
I understand the course I took from Nicole was made by the school. This is the excuse she using for other people leaving poor reviews. Despite that, she was a difficult grader. I somehow passed with an A. But, the amount of time I had to put into this course felt like a full time job. Worst class I have taken at NVCC by far. DON'T TAKE HER COURSES.
Best professor at NOVA hands down. Her tests are 35 multiple choice and 2-3 essay questions. The essay questions can be graded hard, and hard to answer, but not to an extreme. She is such a good lecturer and knows how to keep her students engaged, and on top of that she is so funny. If you want to take a sociology class, take her.
Definitely recommend, Course consisted of 5 exams + attendance. Simple. Pay attention to lecture she give you all of the tools to succeed along with additional material for people who want to pursue sociology further. Just make sure you understand the material and can relate it to your own real world application.
ratemyprofessor is a replica of black mirror season 3 episode 1 this class made me rewatch black mirror, thanks
She made me want to pursue an academic career in Sociology. BEST LECTURES. She is so prepared and engaging and makes it very easy to follow and take notes. She is also hilarious and attentive. The grade was based on 18 quizzes, 4 tests, and 1 2-page written assignment. There are only 5 due dates the whole semester but no late work. Take her!1
Follow and engage with the lecture and read the course material, there are reading checks. The reading can be heavy the first few weeks, but I appreciated this design meant having less reading at midterms and finals. Quiz for each chapter and an exam every few. They are multiple-choice and a few short answers, possible extra credit on each.
Professor Hindert is amazing! She cares to teach, she wants her students to learn. Attendance is mandatory! Test aren't hard, but you must pay attention in class because she will have short answer questions on exam.
I truly wish there were more professors like Dr. Hindert. I usually struggle in classes that require a lot of reading, but she did an amazing job bringing the textbook to life during her lectures. Her enthusiasm and passion for sociology is so inspiring, I always left her class feeling motivated to learn more. Definitely take her if you can!
Dr Hindert is AMAZING! If you have the opportunity to take one of her sociology classes - Do it. She is accommodating if you are having difficulties and genuinely values the class's opinions. Do the reading. Like seriously, READ the textbook and assignments she assigns - they are on the test and she always discusses them in class. Textbook is free.
This professor is a tough grader. I have never had a professor who grades soooo tough and takes points off for little things. I would not be taking her again!
Dr. Hindert's SOC200 class is a must-take. She brings the textbook to life with enthusiasm and makes even difficult topics engaging. Definitely do the readings - they're key for the tests. unstuck AI was a game-changer for me when preparing for those exams.
She was an amazing professor. She made the lectures so interesting and truly inspiring. Our class was also very engaging, with many people answering and asking questions. Quizzes and exams are very easy if you pay attention in class and review notes. I wish she had taught other classes as well. I'm sad to see this class come to an end.
Easy grader! As long as you properly answer the proposed questions, you will get a high score. She is an awesome teacher. I'll be taking her social problems class at a later date. If you need an extension, she is kind! Lots of written work, but the topics are interesting and you learn a lot! I really enjoyed this class! Choose her!
The lecture was amazing and very inspiring. I would 100% recommend it.
Professor Hindert was a great teacher. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Textbook readings are a must. There was two exams with quizzes in between. She uses lockdown browser. All her assignments prepare you for whats coming up next. This course requires EFFORT. It's not an easy A, but youll get an A if you put in the work.
Professor Hindert is an incredible professor. Every lecture was fascinating, detailed, and incredibly informative. She brings so much passion that every topic becomes engaging and exciting. I learned so much in this class, and it was an absolute joy to attend. I would definitely take her class again and highly recommend her to anyone!
