Sweetest person ever! Her teaching style is very comprehendable. She's the best!
sweet, always smiling, very pretty and intelligent
Smart, passionate, fun and always smiles. great teacher.
because she was passionate about what she was teaching her lectures were cool
Great prof and an all-around nice person. Her classes are my favorite.
good teacher, excellent notes very clear
good teacher, very nice
she is so great. she really likes anthropology and it shows!
even though the material wasent too difficult, i think i got more out of this class then all the other ones I've done this year, anthro made me think! nicole is very passionate about what she teaches, how can it not wear off on her students!
Nicole is an awesome teacher with a sparkling personality. She is really passionate about the subject which makes learning easy and fun!
Nicole is the best teacher I've had so far! I hope I will go on to teach as well as her someday. She's earned every smiley-face you see here.
Passionate about her job; really nice; very approachable; good teacher
i am in love with nicole
Nice lady, very good at what she does, makes the class fun
Nicole made class so fun and interesting, I found myself looking forward to the 3 hours I spent in Anthropology every Thursday. She's awesome!!!
Thank goodness for enthusiastic, loving-their-subject teachers like Nicole. Her tests and assignments are tougher than expected but she goes out of her way to help you, which far compensates that! Really open-minded.
The info was easy enough but she over emphasized the teacher-student relationship. I didn't feel overly comfortable approaching her. Very clear, notes are great, exams are hard.
Awesome teacher. Her passion for anthropology rubs off on the students. She's made me think about switching my major to anth, she made it so interesting.
The best teacher I have ever had. With her, three hours is not enough. I get kinda sad when class is over. She makes me want to be a better person.
This woman needs to allow more room for other perspectives and she needs to update some of what she is teaching-it's offensive. Such as using the term BERDACHE.Time to update course material to suit the times!!!
I loved Anth 104 with her but Anth 240 is hard! I don't recommend it unless you plan on taking Anthro as your major. The class average for the midterm was 65%... although she still is a good teacher, she made the test and lab material very hard!
Nicole is an awesome teacher! I loved hearing her stories about her experiences as an archaeologist, it really made me love going to her lectures. I highly recommend taking this class even if you don't want it to be your major!
A really interesting course, but tough. She was very specific on the exams, but not specific in the preparation for them.
Good class, clear notes, helpful. As long as you keep up with the reading its a easy class. Good material, assignments very intesting - teaching style is great
Nicole is great. I took the course on a whim, and ended up taking one of my favorite courses yet. Great lectures, and great stories about her own experiences. Nicole is very approachable and hot to boot! Though she might find that last bit offensive ;
A true archaeologist at heart, this instructor is a lot of fun. Don’t be fooled, the first day, she comes across hard, but really, she’s the nicest person. Her lectures are always well planed, and if you ask a question she doesn’t know the answer to, sh
She is a great teacher! if you take good notes and do the readings you can get an A for sure. Interesting lectures and nicole is very approachable. I would take another class with her for sure
i had my first class ever with Nicole, i found her amazing, her passion for teaching and all the insides she putson her lectures from her own experiences made the class a a must take. In classeveryone was very passionated thanks to Nicole.
Nicole can seem cold at times but she warms up. She is a true archaeologist and who better to learn anthropology from? She is challenging with her exams but everything else is easy marks. She is fresh and self-assured.
She's awesome.. Passionate about the course.. fun too.. good course
The course material is great, and she can be a great teacher, but she is not very considerate whatsoever... especially NEVER question what she says or try to challenge it because she'll go from being the nice prof to your most dreaded
Easy tests. Fun to listen to in class because she is so passionate. I was warned she was mean and tough, haven't seen it so far. Very friendly. Looks stuff up and lets you know next day if she doesn't know something. Supportive and fair.
Don't take her course, she' an ok teacher, just her tests are horrible... not even hard.. everyone walked out thinking we did amazing, but nothing was exactly "what she was looking for" don't take if you want to keep your GPA
Great class! Nicole made classes seem too short with interesting and insightful lectures influenced by own field experience. No class for churchies: 1/3 course covers evolution. Prepare well for exams -easy A if you're good test writer: 3 term tests = 75%. Enjoyed her humour and informal approach.
Not a great professor. Examines minor aspects of course that aren't on her tests. Tests are awful. She is looking for exact answers. Majorly screws with your GPA, if you are trying to get into uvic don't take the course. Can't explain her way out of a paper bag.
enthusiastic, helpful, supportive prof. I am a big fan. straightforward exams & assignments, interesting lectures, Nicole is professional but has empathy and humour.
at first she seemed like a hard ass..She's very organized, lectures from book which makes book worth your$. Read text, notes and go to lectures you will do good. Do your work= good grade. Im at uvic now and i miss teachers like nicole that can teach. She is a very fair marker.
What is up with these votes?! Nicole is fantastic! Always approachable. Lectures are incredibly interesting and I never had a problem with any of her exams. She's a sweetheart. I've never met a prof that's so willing to go out of her way for her students! So, I don't know what all the fuss is about!
Best notes at Camosun. This woman is a fantastic instructor. Remember, this is big kid school, no more slacking for you. Participate in class, ask questions, read the text, but most of all, attend the lecture. It's worth it. Nicole is a shining star.
This person said it best about Nicole!!!! "Not a great professor. Shes friendly enough, BUT...Examines minor aspects of course that aren't on her tests. Tests are awful. She is looking for EXACT ANSWERS. Majorly screws with your GPA!!!! if you are trying to get into uvic don't take the course.
Last person, you forgot your end quotes, back to Engl-150 for you. It might do you some good. Nicole, is a great instructor. As with any class, if it's in the lecture or text, it's fair game for tests. In all of her classes I've had, she has never tested anything outside of lecture. Attendance = A+!
Freakin' Amazing! The people who give her poor reviews are the people who don't study and don't show up yo class. What's the matter, teacher making you think for yourself? She is THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! end of story. ooh snap!
If you really LOVE the topic you'll have a good time in the class.. her stories were good.. diverged a little too much, and if you haven't taken other classes in anth wouldn't reccomend her class right off the bat. i'm an a+ student and yea... not the best mark in her class
Nicloe is an incredible teacher! I loved her class and learned so much. I would recommend her to anyone. Attend class, you'll always learn something. She's approachable and helpfull. Awesome class, great stories, can't wait to take more classes with her.
Extremely dedicated and made the class very enjoyable!
I loved her classes, they were very interesting and I was never bored. In 110 she used a lot of personal examples, which were great. She is so nice, sweet and easy to talk to. She is a great prof. and I would recommend her to all of my friends and I have. Her tests can be hard though (esp. labs)
She is a student's teacher. Not because she makes it easy for you, but because she makes you learn. You're not in High School anymore! It's not supposed to be easy! Take what you can from her. Thank me later.
An excellent prof. I rather feel like becoming an Anthropologist, now. Show up, pay attention, apply yourself and you will learn a deal more than you might expect. I did. Tough marker, but fair--how else do you expect to learn? I got an A-, but it wasn't free. Very approachable and easy to talk with.
Nicole is a very passionate and intersting instructor. When marking, she looks for very specific answers and can be a bit of a hard marker. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and found her lectures to be very well organized. Take a class with her if you can!
Awesome Teacher! well organized, but be prepared to work, she does not take kindly to excuses and being late is a her pet peeve!
Every class I took with Nicole was amazing. She puts a lot of effort into her lectures. Never a dull moment! She has lots of field experience in archeology and likes to give slide shows of her trips to Belize & the American SW. She is a very inspiring woman. Her tests are challenging but fair. She does pick 3 of 5 style questions, which is great.
She's awesome!!!!!!
Really nice and fair, great person all around.
Nicole knows her stuff, great teacher. Come to class and study your notes, because the midterm will be on them and class discussions. Not much work required outside of class, easy A.
Great teacher! Attendence is a must, midterms are based on in class notes and text. Tough marker on midterms, make sure to explain everyting in depth.
Nicole truly cares about engaging and educating her students. Her lectures are great and the notes she provides are SO useful. She makes learning easy, even when the subject matter is not. Couldn't ask for more.
What a great teacher! She is so clear in her lectures, and is so passionate about her job. Her class is not easy, but I am in school to learn interesting, new things, not to coast by and just get a passing grade.I actually enjoyed going to class, and she was always there to help in any way. Thank you Nicole!
This class was VERY interesting. Lectures are always very clear. There are no surprises on exams if you attend class and read the books. She is a fair marker and encourages class participation. She organizes group projects to be as painless as possible. I learned more in this class than I thought possible!
Nicole is a great teacher, who is very passionate about Anthropology and Archaeology. Take her class if you have the chance, but be prepared to study hard.Exams can be a bit tough. Her lectures are very clear and interesting, but make sure to READ and UNDERSTAND the text in order to be ready for tests.
Horrible teacher, exams are ridiculous for a first year course!!!
Her lectures were all over the place and seemed unorganized. Her teaching was unclear. She told us not to come and see her about mid-way through the semester because she was behind in marking. The students shouldn't have to suffer because she got behind in her work. Doesn't respond to email and told me to come when she wasn't available.
Wicked prof...learned so much from her.
Nicole is INCREDIBLE!!!! She's brilliant and passionate, and approaches Anthropology from a really interesting and insightful perspective. Never have I had a class where I was sad when the 3 hours a week were up!
A wonderful teacher. Truly passionate about her profession, and it makes it so much easier for the classroom to become engaged. She's very approachable and will help you when you're confused. Leads the class into interesting debates and is not too proud to admit when she doesn't know something herself.
Nicole is awesome and clearly has a passion for this field. Take lots of notes on the examples she uses and be courteous and on time. She loves having discussion and questions in class, so jump in. Do your readings, especially on evolution. She is a great teacher but her tests are disproportionately hard grading.
Such an interesting class, but definitely not easy. Lectures are great and easy to pay attention to, but her exams are harder thatn I thought they would be. Show up on time, do all the readings and make sure to give detailed answers in exams and you'll do well in her class. Highly reccomended if you're interested in Antropology.
Nicole is the best teacher at camosun! She is easy to follow, her exams don't have surprises, and as long as you do your readings, show up, and participate, a good grade is easy in this class!
nicole is a very good professor, however her exams are very indepth and attendance to her class is mandatory. i recommend seeing her in office hour to clarify what she expects on midterms, if you know the course content thouroghly and take very detailed notes (listening to her and not mindlessly copying powerpoints) you will do great in the course.
Nicole is easy to understand and her lectures are interesting, even when the material is a little dry. Show up to class, take detailed notes on what she says, including examples and make sure you study them hard before exams. She is a hard but fair marker. Not an easy A but she is preparing you to excel in university courses. Great professor!
Nicole is obviously passionate about what she teaches. She is always willing to help you out and it's easy to get a good mark in this class.
Not a good prof at all. Leaves no room for alternate opinions and just talk s in circles. well written tests with the worst marking scheme ever. Nothing is "what shes looking for", as in, unless you tell her exactly what she wants to hear, respecting her point of view only, youll be lucky to keep your gpa
Easy, straight-forward lectures and tests; there are no surprises. However, if your opinion differs from hers your marks will, unfortunately, reflect that. I feel she didn't answer my questions and was often condescending and avoidant. I didn't get good "vibes" from her, however, other people in the class seemed to like her.
Nicole is great teacher, dedicated to her job and her students. She is primarily and archeologist, which colors a lot of her opinions, but not in a bad way. She is very interested in hearing what you have to say, and if you have a question she doesn't know the answer to she'll research it for you! I loved Nicole as a teacher.
Nicole was, without a doubt, the best academic teacher I have ever had. She is passionate about her subject, and this carries over into her lectures. While her tests aren't easy, they are straightforward, and her marking is fair. She is such an inspiration!
Nicole is a very helpful and kind prof. This class took some getting used to - no textbook and minimal writing on powerpoints, so I found I had to write down every word she said. Class was very interesting and she even brings in food to eat! She's very good at engaging the class. I found that attendance was mandatory b/c no textbook or posted notes
Great instructor - shares her passion for the subject with the class, excellent presentations and material. Exams based on overall understanding, not nit-picky details. Lively and interactive course.
Nicole is very passionate and her lectures are clear and precise. Her exams aren't difficult if you study. Not super helpful though when you do to her for help. Was not present during office hours one time. But other than that it is a great class and good prof!
Great instructor! This course was outside my comfort zone (map phobia!)but took it because Nicole was so great in a previous class. Her enthusiasm is infectious, she brings in outside resources to add different perspectives, and she offers meaningful assistance where needed. Attend the lectures and do the reading and you'll do well!
Best prof of my semester for sure. Extremely clear. Not only passionate and intelligent but very good at teaching the material. Nothing bad to say about her whatsoever.
Ive really been enjoying the class so far! Perfect one to take after five years of no school. She is clear and concise on the parameters for tests and papers. and really passionate about the subject if I could take more of her classes I definitely would!
Great prof. Gives very interesting and clear lectures. Attendance is mandatory, as she tests on lectures. I was out of school for years, had no prior knowledge of Anthro, and I got an easy A. If you show up and put the effort into assignments, it's a fun and relatively easy course. She is a slow marker though... that's the worst thing I can say :o)
Ive really enjoyed the class so far, As long as youve you the coursework and check her website regularly for updates on different assignments or on the study guides youll do excellent!
She is a good teacher until you disagree with her opinion then that will be reflected in your grades. If you want an A you better attend all her classes and agree with her politics about Gender and Race issues. Not what I expected for an Introduction to Anthropology.
100% amazing. Loved having her as a prof and I always recommend her to other students. Creative, engaging, knowledgeable, progressive, and extremely clear. Always welcomes questions and encourages you to ask for help. Very passionate about the subjects she teaches, and has excellent teaching skills. She's tough but fair.
Amazing class. Engaging and interesting, there was never a boring class (which is saying something, because they are 3 hours long). You must go to every class (unless you are dying... even then have someone to give you notes) She is an incredible prof with a real passion for the subject, approachable in her office too! Take this class!
Nicole is one of the best profs I've ever had. After taking 110 with her as an elective, I switched my major into anthropology. She's helpful with students questions, genuinely wants you to get a good mark, and understanding if you have to miss a class. Attendance is generally mandatory in her classes, as a lot of lecture notes are on exams.
Nicole is definitely my favourite teacher of all time. She's so passionate about her work and what she teaches. She's very engaging and fair with her marks, make sure to show up to her classes and take good notes as her power points don't provide enough info. She's also very helpful if you need help with anything and she's very approachable.
Nicole has got to be one of the most passionate professors. She lives and breaths what she teaches. Long lectures were never boring and she does a great job of engaging the class. Don't skip, read the material and take good notes from her powerpoint to succeed. Her tests are comprehensive but fun if you studied. Highly recommended taking her class.
Attending her lectures was something I looked forward to, I never got bored listening to her because she has so much passion for what she talks about and explains it in a very simple way that is easy to relate to. Highly recommend taking this course if you are looking for an elective-Record her lectures! As she does not post power points!
I loved Nicole's classes and I looked forward to them all week. Who knew talking about food could be so interesting? She is articulate and passionate about what she teaches. I was sad when this class was over.
Nicole is an amazing professor. I would definitely take more classes with her. Her passion for anthropology is contagious and she keeps the class engaged. One of the best professors I've had.
Nicole kilburn is very knowledgeable not only in her research areas but also in subjects that she teaches. I have never seen her make any mistakes in topics she was teaching. She helped very much in every facet of my research in her classes. I am very impressed with her knowledge.
Nicole is an amazing teacher. She's very passionate about the subject, which makes for lectures that are actually very interesting. If you show up to class and do the assignments (there really aren't many, overall), it would be very hard to get less than a B. But she does not post powerpoints online so be aware that you do need to attend class.
Nicole is a great teacher and so passionate about anthropology which helps make lectures engaging and interesting. She's down to earth and helpful outside of class. Tests are kinda tough, but the final isn't cumulative so as long as you study lots before you should be fine. Can probably get away without buying the textbook as its never really used.
Nicole is honestly one of my favourite profs and she cares a lot about students. Her lectures are engaging and she is wonderful and I've already signed up for more classes with her in the winter semester. And shes's always available if you need extra help after class and she cares about her students a lot and wants the class to be fun for everyone
Doesn't post notes so you have to show up to class. When marking she's not clear on what you did wrong. Isn't clear about what is going to be on midterms. Talks about her life a lot. Some of the stuff covered was interesting but you could learn that from a different prof. Super tough marker and this semester I got 3 A+'s and an A so I'm not dumb
Nicole is a fabulous prof and I really wish I could take more classes with her. She is very understanding and accessible outside of class. She doesn't post her lecture slides online, but if you show up to class you'll do fine. Her exams represent the material well. I did not find her to be a tough grader as her criteria is quite clear.
Worst professor I have ever taken a class with. Will not use D2L and notes are not online after class. I would say avoid this professor at all costs.
Didn't respond to any of the emails I sent over the semester, including when I got sick and needed notes. Is not clear in why you got the grades you did, just says "it wasn't what I was looking for." Has strange office hours so she is very difficult to reach outside class. Spends a lot of time talking about her family instead of actually teaching.
Will not accommodate students with disabilities. Avoid at all costs! she should revise her teaching style or switch careers.
Avoid at all costs. If you value what is done in class, throw it out the window. You can learn as much watching documentaries on youtube without long lectures. If you're late for class the door will be locked.
Class was very interesting. However, the questions she writes on the midterms/assignments are not very clear (they are broad questions, so it doesn't make sense how such answers can be wrong). I showed the questions to friends/family and they don't understand it as well. Conclusion: wish I hadn't taken the class.
Very harsh when marking, also makes it very hard to even get partial grades on exams. If she does not like one sentence from an essay, good luck getting a good grade. Took the class as an elective and wish that I did not take it, as it is only a problem for my GPA. She is also a very opinionated teacher, and I would not recommend her to anyone.
Nicole was an amazing teacher. My first sem. at college and was able to get an A in her class. Attendance is mandatory as she just follows her power points in lecture and doesn't read off of them. Her exam questions are broad which, if you know the concepts well, gives you tons of room to show what you know. Very helpful during office hours.
Nicole is a great instructor who will match anyones effort outside of class. She is very passionate about the material and is open to questions and discussion about the subject matter. Her lectures are straightforward if you pay attention in class and the exams are an accurate representation of the topics covered. Overall AMAZING instructor!!!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND Nicole as an instructor. The project in the class was AMAZING and she is easily accessible outside of class for clarification on topics. Nicole cares a lot about her students and wants to see us do well. An A is very possible as long as you put some effort into the labs and final project. It is a theory class, but very interesting
Nicole is by far one of my favourite teachers. She is passionate, kind, caring, extremely knowledgeable. I have learnt so much from her classes and really value what she offers. She is very lecture heavy so take lots of notes. She is absolutely available if you need help or have questions and will totally match the effort you choose to put in.
nicole is bomb
Anthropology of Food has changed my perspective on so many things. Nicole is super passionate about the material, and a great educator. She cares about our learning and will make you want to know more. No matter your major, don't miss the chance to take ANTH204 with Nicole. It's amazing.
I love Nicole! I wish I could take more classes with her. She is knowledgeable, passionate about the material, and a joy to learn from. She is the best teacher ever.
Nicole is the most amazing prof. She is passionate about the subject and it definitely shows. Easily accessible and approachable outside of class time and willing to match your efforts. Nicole is a true gem and the reason why I fell in love with this subject! I would take all of her classes again if I could
Nicole was the reason I switched my major to anthropology. She opened up my eyes to the real world with her inspirational lectures. She is friendly, approachable, and genuinely wants her students to succeed. 100% would recommend any of her classes.
total beauty
Nicole is by far the best prof I had at Camosun. She was willing to help me work harder and get better grades by finding my own learning and study approaches. People saying she is not fair do not understand that she is always coming from the heart and she cares about her students immensely. I would always recommend her and I enjoyed her classes.
Nicole is pretty freakin awesome. Cares a lot about her students and wants to make sure that everybody is stoked about learning. I would highly recommend taking classes with her if possible. Shes a great human being.
Nicole is the best prof that Ive ever had. She has constantly been supportive of me in my educational journey, even outside of her classes. If you want to succeed, she will do everything she can to help you meet your goals.
Nicole is the best teacher I have ever had. She is passionate and knowledgeable about the material she teaches. Her lectures are intense, thorough, and informative. If you're hoping for an easy A, look elsewhere. If you want to actually learn and are ready to put in some effort this is the teacher for you.
I really enjoy Nicole. Everything she taught I found to be so interesting and engaging. She can be a bit difficult on marking when it comes to tests. She doesn't post her slides to D2L. Never used the textbook.
Nicole is the most inspiring lecturer Ive ever had. Her classes are engaging, exciting, and full of information. The fact that the class is packed full every week is a testament to her teaching skills. Exams are hard but if you study and attend class youll do well as she gives you lots of room for improvisation.
Passionate about anthropology! Interesting lectures that break down big concepts so that they are easy to understand. Exams are long and a bit heavy, show up to class and listen attentively and you'll do just fine.
Not worth taking if you arent going into Anthropology. Massive group project, little instruction on assignments, no feedback on papers, no slides are posted, exams require you to write at the speed of light, etc.....
Such an amazing person and very inspirational but her exam/midterm questions are too broad to get as specific as she wants. I would love to take her classes without the tests because the tests bring down your grade too much to enjoy it.
Amazing human and great teacher. Hard tests, but worth it.
Nicole was a huge reason I pursued anthropology as a major. She is so inspirational, knowledgable, and cares for her students. Any negative comments about her exams being too hard aren't valid. In any class you're expected to engage with the material and study for exams. It's college/ university, and you don't get an A just for showing up to class.
Nicole was definitely super friendly and passionate. This course was delivered online for covid. I found some of the content to be boring, though it was an intro class so that was to be expected. Exam questions were far too broad for how specific she wanted the answers to be, with little criteria. Not all quizzes gave feedback on answers either.
Best professor I have ever had, hands down. One of the best people I have ever met. Nicole is genuine and passionate, and an absolute inspiration. If you match her energy in terms of your work, you won't have any problems. I viewed her exams as an opportunity to share what I had learned and did well. Definitely use office hours!!!
Nicole is fantastic. So organized. Cares a LOT. Seems to put her whole heart into teaching. Very passionate yet open minded about anthropology.
Nicole is the sweetest professor I have ever had. She cares and is very approachable with any issues you may have regarding the course. She tries her very best (and succeeds!) to give students engaging ways to learn and engage with the class material. What started out as an elective taken with Nicole seems to have now turned into my Major :D
LOve Nicole, as a Camosun alumni I have taken several of her classes and always enjoy them. She is very reliable and cares deeply for her students. She is super smart and always wants to help people learn and succeed.
Nicole is INCREDIBLE! Lectures are fascinating I wish they wouldn't end. She is so funny and kind. Her passion is infectious! She's strict with deadlines unless something major comes up, but assignments are fun and she is a generous marker. Expect to have to do the readings and show up to class if you want an A (readings can be heavy). So worth it!
I was transfixed during Nicole's lectures, she's very vivacious, tough, yet approachable. The number of readings was sometimes overwhelming, but the subject matter was of course fascinating. Participation in class discussions will boost your grade and overall experience. There were quite a few assignments, but most of them were reflection papers.
I took her archeology field course during covid and It was very difficult to understand what she was asking or to get feedback quick enough untill too late, I'll assume covid was a part of it but it was not well handled and I feel I could have done better given clairity and consideration in an unorthodox year, it was expensive and I wasted my money
Nicole is a very knowledgeable prof. She is very helpful and considerate when you are facing barriers. She is tough, though, and a difficult marker. Participation is an absolute must. I feel like I learned a lot from her, and I would recommend her to anyone. But you have to really work very hard for an A. I wish we were graded on more projects.
Super interesting class, Anthropology of Death. Nicole is a very passionate archaeologist; her enthusiasm is contagious. I likely would enroll in a class of hers again. I do wish she offered more clarity on her expectations of assignment as she is a tough grader. Perhaps better assignment instructions or marking rubrics.
Pleasant. Clear. Organized. Course pack is cheaper than most textbooks. Interesting content. Fair bit of writing for papers which are worth less than half the grade but the topics are alright. Two exams are majority of the grade. I would recommend Nicole as an instructor and take another course with her.
Nicole intentionally keeps assignments vague to encourage creativity. She could have clearer WRITTEN guidance, tbh. To ace her tests, pay attention to the themes/topics she refers to often as they will be on test. She thrives on compare and contrast. I found her exams not long enough so come with prepared answers to anticipate what she may ask.
Nicole was a fantastic teacher. I took the 3 hour lecture block class. She is very kind and patient. Interactive activities, lots of community in her class, a group project, creative projects. In the past I thought I was more of a cold lecture style, but her warm welcome was great. Some say she is a tough grader, but I found the class very easy.
I love this professor! i have never felt more engaged in a class, she makes class engaging and you really get to know her and her passion for Anthropology and Archaeology. Definitely sparked a new love for Archaeology and Anthropology from her class, im absolutely taking another class
Nicole's ANTH280 class is fascinating and engaging. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she encourages creativity, though expectations could be clearer. Doing the readings and participating is key. Unstuck AI was a great study tool alongside other resources.
best university teacher ive had to date
this was hard as hell. although she may seem nice there so many assignment and the tests made no sense I hate this
Do not take this course as an elective. Although there is no textbook, the weekly readings of 50-page articles that are denser than lead will make you wish there was. She will tell you that "memorization isn't important for the exams" and then test you on specifics. Her saving grace is that she is nice and passionate about anthropology.
This teacher is culturally insensitive and is in charge of the indigenous studies anthropology which is required. Nichole uses outdated sources and needs to go through a cultural sensitivity course or to not be teaching Indigenous students.
I took this course as an elective and I really enjoyed it. I found Nicole to be very engaging, and you can really tell she cares about the students and the material she teaches. The workload was very fair and she is not a harsh marker at all. She is easygoing about extensions and wants the students to succeed.
Most of the hype around this prof seems to come from passion, not teaching quality. Slides are poorly organized text or just words and not useful for studying. If you miss class, you fall behind quickly. Questions are often ignored in class until she is finished talking throughout and grading feels inconsistent and harsh. don't consider taking her
