It was her first quarter teaching but the material was super interesting and Professor McNichols was really nice and really tried hard to make class fun/interesting. She really knows what's up but needs to be more confident in herself. Loved this class and really recommend it :)

Great professor! She was super sweet and all of the tests are curved (she even adds points to your score!) A lot of material to remember, but allows chance to make up tests on final day. Overall, just study for the tests and you can get a pretty decent grade in the class.

One of the best classes I have ever taken as a psychology major at the University. McNichols is one of the most kindest professors I have ever met. In PSYCH 445, it was a team based class, where students discussed amongst team members about assigned articles. She encourages students to participates and clears up misunderstandings quite well.

Best class I have ever taken in the psychology department. This is a team based class, so with a great team, you will have a great time in the class. Very lenient with grading papers as well. I would definitely take another class with her again if I can!

She's really nice, pretty good at lecturing, and the class was really easy. The only thing I didn't like was that a lot of the material was already covered in psych 101, and going over stuff you already know is boring.

Professor McNichols presented class material maturely and concisely. The class itself is extremely easy, but I don't imagine she has much control over what the department wants her to teach. All things considered, I enjoyed coming to class each day and appreciated the professionalism with which she taught the course.

Dr. McNichols was so awesome to have! She was fair, unbiased, honest, and very witty with her lectures. Even though attendance is definitely not mandatory, there are TopHat questions every class that contribute to a participation grade. However, you can follow the TopHat lecture and questions from home. Highly recommend! Also a great class to take.

She is a great lecturer and she truly cares about students. This class has a relaxing setting, and you will learn a lot if you pay attention. Although she goes through the material pretty fast, slides are posted online and she is always up for questions. Highly recommended! (Especially if you are a STEM major and want chill classes)

If you do the readings, you will learn this material easier and better than any lecture you've ever had. She's super nice and loves to hear your ideas. PSYCH 210 was overall a super easy class. The tests could be a little specific but there was basically no work involved. The lectures were hit or miss, sometimes they were interesting and other times they were vague and uninformative. Also, be aware that we watched very explicit videos in class on multiple occasions.

Don't need book. Memorize slides for tests. Clarify poorly worded questions if confused, she will help. So much extra credit available if you check the website regularly. Go to class even though she reads off slides. Interesting participation platforms, panels, and perspectives. She's SO kind; feels like your friend's mom. Worth the long lectures.

Dr McNichols is the kind of professor who is passionate about what she teaches, and really cares about her students' success. She's very approachable, kind and funny, creating a great lecture environment. She's available outside class and always happy to provide extra explanation if you are struggling with a concept.

Dr. McNichol's is wonderful! You can tell that she absolutely loves her job and she makes her class so interesting. There are lots of panels and videos and although her class has participation, its fun! I wish I could take this class again.

In class, she used engaging jokes, demos, and stories to help you understand, apply, and remember complex content. She prioritizes your deep learning AND wellbeing. She's the best!

Dr. McNichols is the rare combination of incredibly well-educated and versed, yet humble and kind. Although the long lectures can be a tough, she is always there to clarify any concepts you don't understand and very obviously cares about her students. This class takes hushed or taboo topics and encourages students to explore their preconceptions.

Dr. McNichols was one of my favorite teachers from the Psych Department at UW. She came to class excited and ready to teach every time. Her homework guidelines were easy to understand, and if you had any questions she would respond in a timely manner. Take her class! This I/O class really prepared me for my field of work after graduating!

With many extra credit options, this class is not so tough. Go to lectures and review the slides before exams and you'll be fine. The exams are not really detail-oriented, but you should spend quite some time before each exams. In my quarter, the lowest exam is dropped so I didn't have to take the final! - Best part of this class.

I loved Dr. McNIchols and her style of teaching. The lectures can get a little boring but being there for class participation is a big part of your grade. The material on the tests is literally in her slides. She is passionate, compassionate, and a blessing to the UW psych department.

get ready for an easy class that involves some of the biggest shock value. 3 non cumulative midterms that are pretty easy. homework take about 30 min a week. take advantage of the extra credit because she gives a lot (up to extra .5 boost in your gpa)

McNichols is SO hilarious - she makes classes entertaining and shock value topics not awkward to learn, it's really the sex ed I've never learned from my parents. She also wrote the textbook so she knows her stuff. In my opinion, it's very easy to cram the night before and do well on tests, the amount of extra credit is also INSANE! Would recommend

Nicole is an amazing lecturer, professor, and person. You can really tell how much she cares about her students. The class is pretty easy and straightforward--has so much extra credit opportunities and the content is super interesting too! My only suggestion would be to make the lectures every day for 50 mins so people can be more engaged in class.

One of the must-takes at UW. It's the essential Sex Ed you won't get anywhere else. McNichols' lectures are highly organized, and have interesting survey questions. She also gives extra credits up to 0.5 GPA points. She also wrote the textbook, and I enjoy reading it. The content is concise and relevant. Highly, highly recommended.

Nicole was a fine professor. She's very caring and enthusiastic, and she's dedicated to the subject. The course was very easy, and is largely review if you have much sex ed or social education. She's not going to be your favorite professor of all time, but I can't give a reason not to take one of her courses. A very nice lady.

Super funny at times, lectures can feel slow, attendance is required and is taken twice per class, so you can't leave once you get bored. Tests are fairly easy and study guides are provided. If you like psych I would recommend her and the class, if not you might get bored.

This professor has very engaging lectures that are hilarious and lighthearted. Although the class is test heavy, there is a lot of test materials on quizlet. This particular class is important knowledge regardless of your major, and is a good class for credits.

This was one of my favorite class at UW! She's very passionate about what she teaches and it's makes the class a lot more interesting. You'll need to pay $80 for an online textbook though. OVERALL, she's very cute and amazing. She offers a lot of extra credit so I got a 4.0 in this class.

The lecture has an live anonymous chat where she answers very personal questions in a caring way but also reads through and goes a long with some funny joke answers to loosen the mood. Very fun class overall and an easy one too.

Dr. McNichols was awesome. You get a "cheat sheet" for the tests which make them a lot easier. The class itself wasn't very hard if you keep up with the reading and participate in the in-class discussion. This class was very interesting and I will be looking into IO Psych for grad school because of it.

This class literally blew my mind. Nicole provides clear and hilarious explanation of concepts. But be aware it's not an easy 4.0. Make sure you actually read everything on the textbook but not just answering the questions. Prepare to remember a lot of biological words and details. But overall, I would recommend this class to everyone.

I really enjoyed Dr. McNichols' course. She is extremely funny and a fantastic presenter, which made every lecture a treat. She also wrote the textbook, so there's no gaps between class content and the book (which itself is really good). The material she has selected for the class is diverse and engaging, while still a manageable workload.

This class is incredibly easy to pass as long as you show up, do the homework, and maybe take notes on all bold words in the textbook. She gives out plenty of extra credit for taking surveys and her lectures are fun. I ended up with like 106% in the class and only spent maybe an hour studying for each exam. Go get that diversity credit.

She is a great professor but she as a professor does not have great attendance in this class. Be prepared to watch a lot of videos, she has her grad students showing videos almost every Friday while she is absent, which can be annoying. This is a very fun class. There are three tests (including final) that are noncumulative. There's also readings about every week (hw). This class is easy if you come to class, do the homework, and study for the tests. Don't worry if you do badly on a test. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities to help your grade!

Fun and engaging professor. Gives detailed study outlines for each exam- not cumulative. Wkly assignments from reading w/ table group, plenty class time to finish. One paper, but complete in steps throughout qrtr. Best of all, she readily seeks feedback and not afraid to chuck something that isn't working well. Truly wants her students to succeed.

There is a lot of information but she didn't seem to care too much about grades but rather that students truly learn the material. She is also quite funny and careful with being inclusive and thoughtful with certain topics. Lots of extra credit too.

Nicole is such an amazing teacher!!! After having teachers like Ann Culligan who grade your participation really harshly, it's really refreshing to have a teacher who grades participation fairly. Her lectures are truly engaging! She gives great examples and she is funny. She wants you to succeed :)

PSYCH 210 with McNichols is a must-take class at UW. She's hilarious, the class is hilarious because of the polling and unashamed pictures/videos, and you gain an understanding of sex that's much more complete and formal than the Internet.

Nicole is one of the kindest and most approachable professor I have come across from my time at UW! She has made me laugh at least once in every lecture that I don't want to miss coming to lecture. Lecture attendance is graded, but not mandatory as she will go easy on grading for participation. If I could take her for every psych class, I would!

I love Nicole so much. She's incredibly smart and sweet, and wants all her students to succeed, even in such a large lecture. I've learned so much in the class and she's made a big impact on my college life. (she's also super funny)

A great, fun class. You learn so much useful information and Nicole is smart and nice. She does grade attendance so attend! Exams all multiple choice and I got an A just by attending class and taking notes. However, the online homework is tedious and the TAs grade the written homework arbitrarily. Not a fan of the TAs. But Nicole is great.

Exams are fairly easy if you do the readings. Lectures get a little dry at times (especially during the anatomy part), but you do get to learn a lot from this class. As long as you keep up with the readings, and take advantage of extra credit opportunities, this is a very easy 4.0.

Nicole is an amazing professor. This quarter she had to adapt to teaching online and despite of that, she still delivered and was very considerate of her students. Although she has 1200 students, she is very good at being accessible outside of class and is quick to answer her emails. She doesn't shy away from any questions and she is the sweetest!

I love this lady! Synchronous lectures via Zoom that were engaging even from home, they were recorded so you could watch later if needed. Fun (optional) questions mid-lecture to keep you engaged, opportunities to ask questions anonymously. Online testing was easy and open notes, textbook questions were tedious but helpful. Great class!

Dr. McNichols was fun and the course content was interesting and engaging, but she seemed to struggle with the online format. Readings were long and mandatory but she often switched around due dates and so expectations weren't always clear. Tests were open note and very easy. Probably a great class in person, but I wouldn't recommend it online.

Nicole is great. Her class covers topics you don't get to talk about anywhere else, and she's very knowledgeable on the content. She wants you to succeed, but more than that she wants you to learn something meaningful from her class. Lectures aren't super necessary because the tests mostly cover the textbook, but they're entertaining so show up!

Great teacher and great topics. I loved this class and the subjects that were featured in the curriculum. The final grade consists of three tests each worth 30% and homework which is worth 10%. There's also a chance for extra credit by completing the end of course evaluation. Overall, this class is highly recommended.

Easy A. Do the class readings, take good notes, and you don't need to attend lectures. McNichols is super passionate as a professor. However, TopHat is a tricky system and the most finicky one I've used. Be patient and use Google Chrome. I wish I took her class in-person, which is the only thing that would've improved this class!

the class was actually pretty interesting. there's an online textbook that has homework questions throughout along with three non-cumulative tests. it's all pretty easy and you learn some cool stuff you can actually bring with you in life. the teacher evaluation is extra credit and there's built-in room for missing assignments

I love this professor so much. She made my life so much easier this quarter and her class was so interesting. Don't listen to the bad reviews, she's amazing. She's very accommodating and the tests are really easy. Set reminders on your phone for homework and do the easy extra credit questions and you'll 4.0 this class.

People aren't wrong, easy A. But the material reminds me of a 8th grade sex ed course, honestly a waste of tuition money and time. If you want to learn about the diversity of sexuality within psychology dont take this class. If you want an Easy A then do it. Teacher is really kind. Just be prepared to not be intellectually stimulated AT all.

Professor McNIchols's class is an easy A. There are lots of extra credit opportunities that make it easy to get a good grade. I rarely showed up to lecture but was still able to get a good grade. The course content was genuinely interesting and goes into much more than a sex-ed class.

Graded on 3 exams and homework from tophat. The exams were fairly easy, but the material can sometimes trip you up and be on something random mentioned during lecture. The professor is also difficult to get a hold of through tophat (which is how she wanted us to contact her), but the class is interesting and the readings will have you intrigued

Nicole is a good professor. Attendance isn't mandatory, as most of the information can be found in the textbook. There were a few questionable statistics used in the textbook, and some of the language used felt a bit isolating if you aren't straight/cis. But overall it was an interesting class and very easy to 4.0

Does a really good job at going in-depth and explaining things in simple ways, tests are online and open not. She's also super considerate and caring. Lot's of reading but as long as you stay on task, it shouldn't take more than 90+ mins to finish.

Great Professor, super interesting lectures! If you have time I would totally recommend reading the textbook and attending the lectures because they're actually super cool and interesting. However, it's not really necessary. The tests are honestly pretty hard if you don't read the textbook and take notes, but there's a lot of extra credit.

Pretty easy class, no need to go to lecture as she is just repeating things in the textbook. She is knowledgeable about the subject and you actually learn a lot of important things. The only downside to this class is that you are forced to pay for and use tophat ($100) for the homework and it is the worst platform and app ever created.

I would honestly say Professor McNichols is mildly overrated. Her class is fun and enjoyable, but I was hoping for a bit more of an engaging experience. This class was so fun and I learned so much. Mon & Wed 2 hr lectures felt long but Nicole made it interesting with class questions and videos. Textbook was engaging but chapters were long. I read all the chapters but I'm sure you could get away with skimming since the tests are open book. Nicole's energy is amazing and she cares about us!

Everyone loves McNichols and this class and I'm no different. Super fun and interesting. The only drawback is that lectures are often not anything new after the textbook, but the panels and movies were good and it meant I could just show up to class and didn't have to take additional notes.

My only complaint is attendance is mandatory. Easy and interesting!

I loved the class.

This is a VERY in-depth sex ed class, but professor McNichols made it comfortable! Attendance is required, but there is an attendance buffer to allow for some missed classes, so for most people it shouldn't be an issue. Tests are open-book, very easy. If you're close-minded or scared of uncomfortable topics, you wont like the class.

I loved this class! I feel like the prof really understands the topic and tries to make the class as fun and open-minded as possible. What I didn't like was that she required attendance this quarter ?? and it is a 700 person class... she only gave us a 2 week buffer for attendance which meant ppl came to class sick all the time.

Easy 5. If you're one of the people complaining about lecture content, idk what you were expecting. The class is the Psychology of Sex, and it covers a vast array of topics. I will note that this isn't a class for the close-minded. It's based on discussing sex, and many topics will be considered "taboo"/uncomfortable. Get over yourself.

psych 210 is probably the easiest course i've taken in UW. Her content is fun, however you do need to study for the test. The TopHat homework assignment is really helpful for understanding the concept. Overall i am glad that i have took this class, and i think i will use this knowledge for life.

I loved this class, Dr.McNichols is very passionate about what she teaches she is super funny and entertaining. This class was a refresher from all my other boring lectures, I didn't mind that attendance was mandatory because it is a fun class to go to. Not too much homework and tests were open book. Highly recommend!!

Dr. McNichols is a great professor and lecturer. The topics were super interesting, and I'd definitely recommend going into this class with an open mind. I took the course online so attendance wasn't mandatory. The exams had some tricky questions, but nothing crazy, especially if you attend lecture and do the readings.

I took PSYCH 210 after ALL of my friends who took it last year reccomended I do. I absolutely loved this class! Dr. McNichols is incredibly passionate about the subject, and it really shows through her engaging (and entertaining) lectures. She is freaking hilarous. It was a refreshing change from my other, more mundane STEM lectures.

Workload is very manageable and the tests are open-book/take-home, which I really appreciated as someone with awful testing anxiety. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in the subject. It's an easy 5 stars from me. Trying to take her PSYCH 479 course next if my schedule allows for it.

I took this course online after the in-person section filled before I had a chance to register. After reaching out to Dr. McNichols and explaining the situation, she welcomed me to attend lectures and panels in-person so that I wouldn't miss that aspect of the course. She's extremely friendly and I enjoyed all aspects of the class.

It's an easy 4.0 and she's wildly entertaining.

The textbook we use in class is one she wrote and is designed to meet you where you are regardless of your background and prior sex education. It was extremely helpful and you can't say that about most professors course materials here. The midterms and final are also open note.

You'll reap what you sow with this course. Attend lectures, do the readings and you'll do well.

Great professor, class is fun, it's just you have to come to lecture for guest speakers because the test will ask about what they talked about. And I've heard the course was harder than it used to be.

This class was pretty easy, mostly just reading homework and the tests are all open note/book. Professor McNichols's lectures were super entertaining, but also really educational and helpful. Attendance is for credit, but you get full credit as long as you attend 80% of classes over the quarter.

This class was really interesting and broadened my perspectives on a lot of different aspects of human sexuality. Nicole seems very sweet and open-minded. My biggest gripe was that she made us pay $110 for an interactive textbook on TopHat, which was really annoying to use. The Friday films were such a bore, but at least the exams were very easy.

Prof McNichols is pretty cool as a person and her lectures are engaging and interesting. She's a funny person to listen to and knows how to engage her audience. However, paying around 100 dollars for TopHat sucks. Majority of the guest lecturers were not engaging and some were just rambling. If you take this in person there is an attendance code :(

Easy 4.0. 0.2 GPA boost extra credit offered at the end of quarter. Attendance is long and required, but a short break in the middle. Keep up with guided homework assignments, go to lectures, and submit a short writing assignment at the end of each week for an easy A! This class is educational and progressive in so many ways so just enjoy listening

i took this course online. the lectures are entertaining and the professor is funny. exams are easy and workload is very manageable. overall, an easy A. however, the TAs are very slow to respond and post lectures online. i understand this class has over 1k students, so maybe more TAs are needed. it was a bit frustrating.

Overall Prof.McNichols was an untouchable lecturer. A face for a class where the grading, any questions, etc. was all T.A. run. Felt like she genuinely cared about the content and was good at teaching it and very inclusive. But on the downside having a prof with a social media presence led to lots of self promotion and influencer vibes.

This class was okay. I hated how the tests were timed. Sometimes felt like questions on the test weren't covered in class. Still finished with a 4.0. Never once spoke to the professor, only TAs which can be annoying.

Nicole's PSYCH210 is an enjoyable course, though the pricey textbook can be an issue. Lectures move quickly, so staying engaged is key. For an easy A, just keep up with homework and submit short weekly assignments. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for studying!

You can really tell she loves teaching psychology. The content is mostly on TopHat (a little expensive) and comes in modules and readings. Gives a lot of extra credit for surveys and her newsletter. Great lectures, especially guest speakers. Only bad thing would be that she constantly promotes her social media and TikTok almost every class.

I really liked this class and I highly recommend. Make sure you're double checking you put the attendance code in in the beginning, and the end. IF SHE FORGETS REMIND HER. It's your grade. I got docked a couple days because she forgot, or I missed the code. Take notes during lectures, and do the readings. Honestly, every detail is important.

Professor McNichols is a absolute GEM! She is so funny and her lectures are really engaging. You have to purchase a TopHat subscription ~$94. Everything is graded by TAs, only three "midterms", 40 MCQ in 60 min. Pay attention, take notes and you'll be fine! The guest lectures were my fav. Her lectures are a bit rushed, but everything is recorded.

prof. mcnichols is a wonderful professor! she is so beyond educated about sexual education and has such a genuine love for this profession. i really enjoyed her class as i found it very interesting and informative. i chose to take this for diversity cred and i dont regret it! for work there's just readings w/ work and weekly reflections :) also ec!

Didn't think I'd learn much but I learned a lot and it was interesting. One 500-word reflection a week, two interactive readings a week (take about 45 minutes each), and three open note exams. I went in person for the fun lectures, too. The mandatory textbook was about $94. TAs take a long time to grade but they are not harsh graders.

Really sweet professor and chill class. If you've chosen 2-3 STEM courses and want to find a refreshing and relaxing class, just take Psych 210. She is passionate about the course. If students have questions about or are interested in the content, they are encouraged to approach her during the Q&A sessions in class or attend her office hours.

Spice it up with a toy

Professor McNichols is so sweet and really cares about her curriculum. Its a little annoying that we have to do seemingly pointless weekly assignments, but its really not bad. You do have to go to lectures because she takes attendance, but you can always have a friend do it for you if you need to miss a couple. P.S dont try and do the hw in public.

She was honestly such a great professor. The TA's are super nice and PSYCH 210 really opened my eyes about a lot of things. You can tell how passionate she is about her career. The only small difficulty is the way the exams are worded. Another issue was how most of the class it was just her talking. I wish it would've been a bit more interactive.

Class is informative without being difficult, definitely a good elective to take and Dr. McNichols makes it 100x better

Psych 210 is a great class to take if you just need to fill some diversity credits. Its very informative and interesting and the lectures are always a lot of fun. Theres a lot of homework but its all online if you really dont care. Pretty easy class all things considered.

I personally loved her. She was engaging, funny, considerate, and the content seemed relevant and useful. The only thing is the textbook is really graphic, costs $100, and is mandatory for the homework and class engagement. Overall, it was a fun, easy class that you don't have to think much about outside of lecture and assignments.

One of the best classes I have ever taken! She makes the lectures very entertaining and the class is well organized. The exams were pretty straightforward and you have to write a reflection each week which was also easy.

Easy asynchronous. Despite MyUW saying we don't need to buy a textbook for the course, we end up buying her book for $104 (assuming you don't receive the rebate). Good lecturer but some of the guest speakers she invited were a little too repetitive or went on long tangents. Wish she moderated that a little more.

I took psych 210 online and Professor McNichols was great! Her lectures were very engaging. For homework, you need to read the interactive textbook, then do weekly reflections. It is easy to work ahead if you want to. If you are in the in-person class, attendance is taken and is part of your grade. Overall, great class!

Professor McNichols was a really great professor. The homework reviewed the reading and lecture so it was easy to do in class. Herself and our TA's were really easy to reach and she obviously cares about her students. She also incorporates alot of humor into the class. I did appreciate how she did call out students who were offensive during class.

Incredibly easy class, as all the exams and the final are open note+textbook. Lectures can start to get boring later on, though, so take async if you expect to have a heavier course load. Amazing professor I took this course in person back in 2023. This class is very interesting and I have learned a lot. Imi glad this kind of course is offered at UW. There are tophat textbook readings with questionaries along the reading. Canvas multiple choice exams. Attendance was required by putting in a code mid break in class.

She's a very knowledgable professor and cares a lot about her students learning the curriculum and applying it. I didn't find her lectures very intellectually stimulating, but that's because the content is very introductory. Great class and professor if this is your first time receiving formal sex education, though.
