Makes english fun and easy.

She is a very easy teacher, unlike some English teachers who make you write 2 or 3 major essays she only assigns one. She likes her students to use critical thinking but if you need her advice she'll help you out.

i thought she was a good teacher, tougher in certain areas of the course than others but over all i thought she was helpful and understanding and i would take again in another course.

This class is not difficult, If you do at least some of the HW. She is very helpful on papers, and will pre-read your paper if you ask her to. She is very open minded, and accepts every Idea in class. I would recomend this class.

If you are like me and love to write, this is the easist Enc teacher. If you spell "Waist" as " Waste" want to become a better writter, this is the class to take.

Spottke is a pretty cool English teacher. She's organized and consistent with her guidelines. She grades tough, but is fair. She values creativity. HW can be turned in before 12am on turnitin.com. Loved that! Don't take her if u're a slacker or always tardy, she hates that. Will take again in 1102.

Professor Spottke is a fabulous English Teacher. She has a real passion for the subjefct and is always excited about class. If you do your homework correctly (a few 150 word journals)you will get full credit. Her subjects are interesting and there is only 4 papers!!

She was good. She challenges you to be a better writer and if you ar ehaving problems, she is great to talk to. If you just try, you will pass her class.

i am currently taking her class at 8. She is the best professor I have had. She has a few 200 word journal entries as long as you do it you get full credit. NO TESTS. 2 or 3 essays not hard. And a presentation. As long as you do the work you will get an a or b.

Grades very hard but she's fair. She's what an English teacher should be. If your a good writer and love English definetly take her but if your the opposite I wouldnt recommend this class for you. She's nice and down to earth but doesnt take slack from anyone.

Instructions on assignments are not always clear, so ask questions if you have them. She is very willing to help out & will proofread your assignments if you ask her to. She really wants everyone in her class to succeed. Not a 10 on the looks scale, but not hard on the eyes either.

She is one of the best teachers I've ever encountered.Yes,she demands alot from you. Spottke is a great prof! I wasn't crazy about the class at first, but she has wonderful structure and the class is laidout perfectly. She grades very generously too. A couple big papers to write (1,000+ words) but she is not a tough teacher. Loves her job and it pays off!

Ms.Spottke is one of the best english teachers I have ever had. She is wonderful at teaching on writing styles, but be prepared to be to class on time after 5 minutes she is locker her doors.

Great Teacher. She encourages Class participation and doing your work. The only thing she is strict on is being on time. She writes encouraging things on your paper even if its a D paper. She will help you as long as you ask her for it. I highly recommend her even if she is a little Quirky. She is a wonderful teacher.

I love professor Spottke! She is a sweetheart and makes her class interesting. Very clear on what is expected and treats you like a COLLEGE student. Do your work, on time, and follow instructed steps and you'll do well. If you're lazy don't take her...and probably go back to highschool.

This class was pretty easy. As long is you do the work, and turn it in on time then more than likely you'll get a good grade. Essays are easy to write in this class, only 4, and the 4th one counts as the final exam also. Few quizzes, but simple. Time goes by quickly. I highly recommend Professor Spottke, she makes learning fun.

She is a great teacher who explains things very very well. We did a lot of group work which was fun! She is lenient and understanding. Also nice, funny, and extreamly helpful. Her teaching is esay to understand, and interesting. Works well with stundants and accepts their ideas! Great professor wish i could take her again!!

I took the class online. The class is easy as long as you stay on top of things, which you should anyway. She is very good about returning e-mails and making sure you understand the information given. The only downside is that her assignment rubrics are pretty vague. Otherwise, she is a great professor. I highly reccomend taking her!

I took this class during Summer B. Prof. Spottke will help you with whatever problem you have. You have to work hard for your "A" in her class, but not too hard. Just do her in-class work, do well on the essays she assigns, and her reading quizzes; and you should get at least a "B". This Professor is AWESOME!!!

Prof Spottke is awesome. I took her after beig out of school for a number of years. Her insight was wonderful and I loved her availibility to her students. Do the work ppl. She appreciates involved students. Work load is significant however easy as the times goes on... I loved her class. She is a great teacher but you have to do your part!

This is not a hard class, however there are 3 books required when only one is truely necessary. If u don't like to read novels and poems this is not 4 u. If u do u will have a blast. I took the class online and as most online classes you basically teach yourself. Overall it was a typical English class not 2 hard not 2 easy a lot of writing.

easy class if you are on top of your work at all times. do not slack off at anytime especially on the essays. she bery hard grader when comes to the essays, but other that really down to eath teacher. alot of busy work online. the only book i had to buy was the portable litertaure.

A good professor but expects a lot from a freshman level class. The online class is intense and demanding and you're expected to have good comp 1 knowledge. A very nice person and very approachable but she does grade hard on essays. She should teach graduate english instead of freshman. Overall, a good professor but not an easy 'A' by any mark.

This is a wonderful professor. Stay on top of your work and do it when it is due, you will do fine and pass the class. She grades very hard on essay's...you will not have an EXAM!!

Prof Spottke is a great professor. She is patient and reasonable. As expected she does not have tolerance for excessive tardiness, use of cells in class or excessive irrelevant sidebar conversations. As college students, we should be more concious of our choices & NOT label a professor due to their enforcement of rules. Hello, we are all ADULTS

Ms.Spottke is an awesome teacher! Very encouraging and inspiring. But there were soo much work to do. 3 books requied. You have to work very hard in this class. I had so much going on at the time, so I dropped the class. If you love writing I would recommend her.

Professor Spottke was awesome.I just took her for the summer term online, and earned an easy B+. All you have to do is do all your assignments especially your essay's and you do good.

Two words: TAKE HER. You have some essays she will pretty much explain completely and some online work that will take a couple seconds each to complete. She?s funny, nice, understanding and wonderful. Don?t try to talk over her and you?ll do great. I repeat TAKE HER!!! You won?t regret it!!!

Even though I got an A in this class. DO NOT TAKE her class! She has some sort of god like complex. Talk about beating the movie "Of Mice and Men," to death. she does give a lot of work and four essays. Do the work! Or you will fail. She does explain what she wants and she will help, but god help you if you act like a tard.

Comp1 I was lazy most of the semester and thought she was a hard grader, but i started working towards the end and learned she is actually lenient and there to help, grading my final essay before it was due..ended with a C. TAKE HER! She is really cool, nice, and totally wants you to succeed! Her course work is a little heavy but she is genuinely pursuing your success. Be attentive and polite and you?ll have no problem.

I really loved her class. I do not like English but she loves it. She is a good teacher and very helpfull. I will never be scared to write a research paper again, because of her I know how to. She does a lot of online work and makes you print out stuff to bring to class often. She is nice and understanding.

She's alright. There's a lot of homework that gets really annoying, a bunch of little assignments or quizzes every week. There's 4 essays, #1 is an about me 55pts. #2 compare/contrast 110pts. #3 Research paper 270pts. #4 Descriptive Place 110pts. The final is a power point worth 63pts. There were two chances for extra credit.

Shes great. Couple essays she keeps it interesting. She is laid back most of the time. Constantly updates all online HW but its easy there's something due every week, final is a presentation.

she is a nice professor, has a sense of humor which is good but she has alot of assigments on little 4 or 3 point quizzes on like grammar and its annoying! only 3 essays but if you fail to do one of them you WILL fail the entire course because of Gorden rule requirements. just keep up with the assignments and you'll be fine!

Three essays. Must do all of them in order to pass. She is a good teacher but you have to work for the grade. I took her online and it was awesome. I ended up with a B, not bad at all.

Super cool & really helpful in office hours. 3 essays, lots of 10 pt & 4pt work. She's a stickler for MLA formatting etc. At the end of the day if you are self motivated its a great idea to take her online.

AMAZING teacher she wasn't entirely easy and shes a tough grader when it comes to essays but her classes were always fun shes silly and funny! I took her hybrid course and had a great experience being my first hybrid class.

Super awesome & helpful teacher. Super available in office hours. 3 big essays- lots of 10 pt work but i took her online and i am self motivated so it seemed to be really easy and the minimally time consuming. I really enjoyed her humor. She was a lot of fun and she gives extra points if you take her online and visit during office hours! :)

Prof. Spottke is absolutely superb! I was a bit apprehensive on the first day of class. But, that had more to do with the students than Prof. S. She is the best professor I have encountered at Valencia West campus thus far. If you are interested in improving your skills and gaining new perspectives, this is the class for you.

Took her for Eng.Lit.1300-1800's. Only take this class if you are truly interested in English Lit. of this time period! GordonWR class, she will make you write a LOT, so it's a sure-fire way to get that credit! Lots of journals, 3 essays, and final is a group presentation. She grades a little harsh on essays, but is wonderful nonetheless.

I loved taking Comp 2 with Dr. S. She is passionate about the subject and incredibly helpful. If you can, definitely go see her during her office hours to get help and advice on papers. She has great insight and is easy to talk to. Will for sure be taking Brit Lit with her in the Spring.

Amazing class, especially if you plan on pursuing an English degree after Valencia. The journal entries, essays, and final presentation will definitely help improve skills that will be necessary in upper level classes. Prof. Spottke will go out of her way to help you out, and make sure you understand assignments. I'd take it again if I could.

She's good professor! The syllabus was little clear. She post new assignment every Monday. The hws due sometime on Fri and another hws due on mon. She sometime gives you more time like two weeks. It's not that hard. You must read a book & post your answer from Blackboard. There is no midterm & no final exam but there is presentation brochure. :)

I am still taking this course online but she is great professor! Instructions are clear she is nice often uses smiley faces or lol when typing which makes her fun. I am not such a good writer I am still practicing but her feedback is really helpful and she gave a lot of extra credit here and there. sometimes 5 points sometimes 10 points it depends

Dr. Spottke gives very clear instructions so you know what she expects of you. Pay attention, follow instructions, and do what you're supposed to do, and you will succeed. Answers email daily. I would definitely take another class of hers if my degree required any more English.

Professor Spottke was a genuinely intersting professor to take, but she can be very difficult on papers. There's also a group project at the end of English Literature that I dreaded, but other than that she's pretty fair. ALSO! One journal for every class, but I wrote all of mine during the hour before class, so it should be good.

Professor Spottke does an outstanding job at making sure instructions are clear cut. If you can read, you can pass this class. Follow instructions, participate and do your assignments, and do your assigned essays more than a night before and you will do just fine. Essays take effort, but she just wants you to succeed on future papers, and learn.

I LOVE this teacher!!! I met with her in person when I needed help for my essays and she was very helpful. My vocabulary and grammar has expanded because of her, I would recommend her to anyone :)

She is a great teacher! Best one of had so far. She is so nice and friendly. Reads your papers before you submit so you can get the best grade possible. She does not get annoyed with questions, which I love! If you are not the best at English diffidently take her. I learned so much.

I took this class online and it was very easy. I got to read interesting stories and her assignments were very diverse. None of the reading assignments were boring or hard to understand and she really wants to make the class as fun and interesting as possible which is great! Her extra credit assignments were very easy as well! All but one passed!

Good Prof, but strict about formatting! A lot of interesting reading and gave good feedback on everything I wrote. Graded everything on time and no formal final or midterm exam just a portfolio of your past work in the class. Overall, a pretty easy A if you are good at writing creatively.

I want to say she is by far the best English teacher I ever had. She really takes the time out for each of her students, especially when they express to her they need help. She is always willing to help a student become a better writer whenever. I have even met with her outside of class and that goes how much she cares about her student's success.

This class was pretty simple. The reading assignments were always interesting which made it easy to write about them and her expectations were clear. I had to take this to meet my high school english requirement, but I actually enjoyed this class.

No easy A here. Grading is very clear. There are 3 major assignments (essays) that if you do not pass them you will not pass her class. The research paper alone can make or break your grade in her class. She grades tough on her essays. Class work/discussions graded easy/easy work. Seek her for any help you need she is more than willing to help!

She's really nice, but be prepared to do A LOT of essays. You do learn great things from her and she is very honest. She does many great activities.

Professor Spottke is an amazing professor. She gives out great lectures and never gets annoyed with questions. Professor Spottke was great! There are many writing assignments but they're all very doable/easy and she grades pretty fairly. There are rarely any quizzes or test. She's also a little forgiving about late work. Overall just do the weekly writing and you should be able to pass with an A.

Absolute gem! Professor Spottke is an absolutely amazing professor and you'll pass this course with flying colors. Just do the assigned readings, participate in the discussions, and the writings and you'll be A-Ok! Dr. Spottke was AMAZING! I would totally recommend taking lit with her as the work you're provided has true meaning and makes total sense. I looked forward to completing her work. Work-wise, It's pretty minimal with (on average) a discussion post based on a play or short story a week. You are expected to read and write a report on a novel.

If you do not put any effort into the class you will not pass. It is a lot of work, but gives you the ability to pass the class with a few bad grades on assignment

I would give 100 if I could. This professor goes above and beyond for her students and she will meet with you over zoom if you need help writing the papers. There is a lot of homework but she does such an amazing job at teaching everything. She is funny and very intellectual, she has an awesome personality and you will love this class!!!

I love Dr. Spottke, she allows zoom sessions to go over your essays before submission dates. She challenges your brain to grow and learn how to write at the college level. I appreciated how hands-on she was.

Dr Spottke is amazing. She actually cares about you and your work. Only 4 discussions. Peer reviews every 2 weeks. Her class is easy but you do have to put in a little work. She gives second chances and will let you improve your papers for better grades. Only 2 quizzes, one syllabus and one was interpretation of a chart. Overall,10/10 class&teacher

Dr. S is a fantastic teacher! She gives clear instructions and is always willing to help. She makes time to review your essay if you want and gives exceptional feedback to improve and get a good grade. I am definitely taking her for COMP2, and I recommend her any day! But you have to be willing to put in the work.

Highly recommend this professor. Loved her class and I feel like I truly improved my writing throughout the semester because she gives great feedback. Be prepared to write and be prepared to read what she sends so you can submit good work. But honestly a really great class. We did a lot of peer reviewing and editing our work. Which was great.

She cared enough to set up Zooms with me to look through the rough draft of my papers. I appreciate her and highly recommend her!

This Professor is a great teacher. There is homework every week, it is not particularly difficult, some will be time consuming. She gives great feedback and there is lots of peer review and chances to improve your work to earn a good grade. You will have to read a book, choose early and don't put off reading. Good class loved it and learned a lot.

Professor Spottke is AMAZING for LIT 1000 (online). She gives great feedback and the work isn't difficult. She ensures you're learning and makes it an interesting and useful class.There aren't many long assignments, but when there are, they are useful and you actually learn from them. I highly recommend if you're looking to actually learn!

First time college student at 38, Dr. Spottke, was great, read instruction when assignments are posted and if you are confused make sure you ask questions. There is always assignments due during class so make sure you show up to class every day and if you miss day you have a lot of catching up to do.

Reading + discussions, assignments and peer reviews. Discussion questions are kind of lengthy, can be tedious. Everything is due on Thursdays, some having a 2 day grace period so be careful of that. No final but like 1-3 quizzes and a final ePortfolio + book review. Lots of reading! Understanding + answers emails quickly.

Took her in fall 2024, and she was the sweetest! But I do like to warn you though, she is a bit all over the place and she is aware that. Which is why she doesn't not mind giving extra time to get assignments done. Dr. Spottke is there when you need help on assignments she gives, so don't be afraid to asks because you will need to. Take her!
