Good Teacher. She is very Clear in what she wants and Grades from 4 Tests in the Term. No Group Projects or Weekly Reading Quizes. Just read the text, show up in class and take notes, test, and get an A or B. Highly Reccomended!!
The test in her class are very difficult. it is a lot of material to study for. her lectures, she just pretty much reads right out of the book, there is no point in coming to class.
The class is a little boring. I would suggest reading everything she goes over in class, becuase it will be in the test. You can still pass without going to class. Just really read everything well or you will fail.
Excellent personality but get ready for writer's cramp! You will be basically getting 98% of the lectures straight from the book. Her tests are tricky but fair and she is fair on the grading as well. Good notes will equal a good grade. Even if you find the subject boring, you will definitely pick up some highly practical info.
She is very interesting if you interject questions & experiences in her lectures. Her tests are right from the text book's test bank so go to their website & find the practice quizes and you'll do great. If you ask for extra help she is more than willing to help. She plays to the room, class boring-she is, class interesting-she is interesting too!
She reads to you the test. I love class like that.
learned a lot in this class. she is very clear. just study the notes and you'll do good. i never even used my book. her notes are the tests. would def. reconmend taking her.
Very helpful, fair, and you won't be surprised when you get the exam. If you listen, take great notes, and scan the book an A is likely. Ask questions; she loves participation. Highly recommend.
She is awesome, I took her over the summer and she is great. She cares about her students, not like the rest of the USF professors who think they are better than you! DON"T TAKE THIS CLASS IN TAMPA!!!
Very Good Professor. Lectures are short and to the point. Uses powerpoint slides which exam questions come from. You do have to go to class for some info that isn't on the slides (and some extra credit). Exams are very straightforward and clear. 3 exams - drops questions if a majority of everyone gets them wrong. Class is an easy A if you study.
Great Instructor. She is very helpful answering any questions you might have. Show up for class, take the practice quizzes(link in front of textbook), and write average notes and you should at least get a B in this class. One of the top teachers at USF.
Dont waste your money on the book if you go to class, other wise about 90% of all the matterial is right from the book. Easy class, but if you miss the in class assignments it could drop you a grade. Overall easy class.
She is really nice but the lectures are dry and boring. It was kinda hard to take notes so just write which topics she went over class and read over the book. Her tests are multiple choice. You need to do a lot of reading and memorizing.
I'd recommend this professor. She makes the class interesting and sets reasonable expectations for the exams. There is no need to read the textbook - simply study the slides and go to class.
LOVE her as a person, but it was very painful to sit through lectures. My boredom has nothing to do with the instructor, just dry material - it's difficult to make it entertaining, but she did what she could. Memorize the ppt slides, and go to each class and absorb the info that way. Reading all of the material will make you looney.
BEST TEACHER EVER! Because of her i'm going to law school. Recommend her to everyone! I didn't buy the book and got an "A" in the class. Great teacher!
Mrs. Stowell is a nice person and a good teacher. Her 3 tests comprise 40 multiple choice and 40 true/false questions, and most of the questions are quite easy, BUT some of them are very tricky. Her powerpoint notes are what she lectures on and 90% of what she tests on. BUT, by not buying the textbook you'll sacrifice about 10% on your course grade
I took the distance learning version of this class and it was very easy. I reccomend taking this class over the computer. Stowell is very clear and to the point. Business Law is mostly common sense.
I also took the online course for Business law 1. She was very clear on the videos and her exam is 80 questions with 40 true and false and 40 multiple choice. Most of the quesitons come from her powerpoint notes.
I took the online version of this class, and it was pretty easy. The lectures are extremely long and boring. You do not need to buy the book. You must watch the lectures in order to get a good grade!!
Don't buy the book, if you attend all the classes, you'll be fine. Very nice. Study from the book's website (glossary & practice quiz). Would recommend to others
Don't buy book. Took online. Watch lectures and take notes because she test on what she says and what is on the powerpoint printouts.
Great online course. Follow along with the lectures online with power point print out. Go over before test and you will do great. Never opened up textbook, not once.
She is smokin' hot, and because of that, I listened to every word she had to say.
I took this class online, with exams in the classroom. It was great!!! Watched online lectures and TOOK NOTES. Studied them and did great. For quizes, I used the notes I took for 9/10 questions, 1/10 question was from book. Not "tricky". Very straight forward and predictable. I highly recommend this class!!
I took the online section. This is a fairly easy class assuming that you watch the lectures and take notes. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. I did not buy it and I still pulled an A. Watch the lectures and take notes.
Great teacher, very helpful. Tests are strictly from her lectures. This was a great online class. No book needed unless you plan to study deeper for your own benefit.
I took the online class. Professor Stowell's lectures are thorough and insightful. You will learn a lot. She is happy to help students. There are only 3 tests so it?s hard to recover if you mess one up. Anything she says about Florida law will probably be on the test. If you want an A, buy the study guide. I set the curve on her last test.
Take the online class. 3 Exams are the only coursework. Very easy exams if you watch the lectures and study the slides. I was able to pass the last 2 exams with A's by only reading the slides- but i am great at cramming, so dont try it if you struggle. Text is unnecessary- I didn't purchase it or wish I had once. Everything is covered on slides.
Law is probably the most boring thing in life to me, but she made it palatable. I was happy with her lectures and examples. She provides very helpful slides and did not require additional text. Three tests consisting of T/F and multiple choice were fair and not too tricky. She also gave 3 quizzes to help our grade. Take her.
An excellent online teacher, covers all material in videos and notes, textbook was a side note. VERY helpful with coordinating working adult schedules. Exams are tough but covered by lecture notes.
Take this online class w/Prof. Stowell! Only 3 quizzes on line and 3 exams in class. Both quizzes & exams are t/f & mult choice. No other HW or projects. DO NOT BUY BOOK! She's a great lecturer & ppt slides are great. Study your lecture notes and slides and you'll do well and will learn a lot of info about business law.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Makes a lot of material manageable and very learnable. Always available for help. Take her if you can.
This class is fabulous. I took it bc it was mandatory but it turned out to be a great decision. TAKE THE ONLINE CLASS. three tests and Aplia assignments due every sunday but they are easy and they help you learn and raise your grade ;] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I studied only the day before (mind you it was for the ENTIRE DAY) and I did well (90%+). Just watch the lectures online and write down essentially everything she says twice or goes a little slower on. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Glad I took her class instead of the Tampa one. Aplia isnt bad, just gotta remember to do it. Nice prof, helpful too. TAKE HER!!
Outstanding professor and person with tons of experience. She is certainly one of the best professors at USF. Her lectures are clear, thorough, and there is never any guesswork. Exams are tough only in that they are very, very specific questions. Take the online class--she uses video lectures that mirror the traditional class.
Professor Stowell is an EXCELLENT teacher! She is by far one of my fav teachers at USF. Take the online class!!! Buy the powerpoint notes at procopy, watch her podcast videos on itunes, and take notes as you watch her videos and you will do great in her class! Very nice woman and she loves what she teaches! 3 tests- t/f and m/c, and 10 aplia's
What an amazing teacher!! Took her online business law class-she has her video lectures online(test based on these) and managed to understand law! She gives great examples, has reasonable expectations of her students, and is just an overall wonderfull person and professor!!! ....wish she taught more classes...
Took it online, was an easy A, but you have to watch her videos and study to do well. I learned a lot in her class more than I learned in any of my other business classes. Would highly recommend
Took her online. If you have the willpower to sit and watch the video lectures you will probably do fine. If you're like me and you can't sit and watch a video lecture for an hour and a half at a time, do not take this class. Would not recommend her for online, easy to get behind if you do not follow through thoroughly. Aplia = weak.
Very good and easy class. Study from her review and do the online assignments and you'll get an A
Loved her! Makes material easy and manageable, test reviews make passing easy.
Dr. Stowell is one of the best professors I've had. She is thorough, patient, clear and very knowledgeable.
I took it online, and to be honest with you I never watched one complete lecture, just thoroughly studied the PowerPoints and online HW assignments and got a B on each test. So it would be easy to get an A if you were patient enough to watch the lectures. She's great though!
Amazing professor. I took her online for Summer A (6 weeks). Your grade is based off of online homework (Aplia) and 2 exams. No papers or projects. Watch her online lecture videos, DO THE APLIA, and you'll pass the class easily. Aplia is weighed heavily. Great class!
Great professor, has real work experience in the law field rather than just being a professor. She uses examples, explains things clearly and is very straight forward about class expectations. There are 4 in class assignments that are easy points if you attend class, and online assignments. The tests are easy if you pay attention in class.
Excellent professor! She uses examples from her career as an attorney. Her expectations are VERY clear, her online lectures are just like attending a class except that you can pause them and work at your own pace. Exams are based on the lectures and PowerPoint notes. She answers emails promplty. You will learn a lot from this class/professor!
Professor Stowell does a great job explaining concepts about business law, understanding that it is just an intro course. She makes her expectations of you clear, makes the tests based on real material covered and is easy on the eyes to boot - what can be better than that? Great professor, highly recommend her class.
Professor Stowell possesses an energy in teaching her subject that you rarely see, if at all, in most professors. She knows her material, almost every aspect of it (it's kind of crazy), and really sparks your interest. AND I took her online..so I'm referring to her online lectures..that's saying something.
Great professor...very easy course... just watch her lectures (for online) and do assignments on Aplia... very straight forward exams!
Great Teacher!
She's ok. Pretty easy class that doesn't require much work (weekly online assignments and lecture-based tests). She is experienced and knows this material well, and is very helpful. Don't bother buying the textbook, you get an online copy with the lab and don't really use it much anyway. Tests are tricky but watch lectures and you'll do fine. A+
She knows her information, great teacher. If taking online, weekly assignment due & you don't need to buy the book since it comes with the online package cheaper. Tests are not bad at all, just study the powerpoints & pay attention to her lectures. This was my second time taking this class & she's MUCH better than the teachers at the Tampa campus.
Nicole Stowell is the best professor that teaches BUL 3320 at USF.You will have 3 tests and aplia assignments. She also does a review before each test, so the review will help you alot. She is one of my favorite professors!
Took online. Watch the lectures and take notes on the powerpoint slides to fill in the blanks the lectures provide and you should get an A. Remember to do the chapter quizzes as they are easy and boost your grade. You can even do a word search in the online text to help with the quizzes. Non-HD videos do not do her justice!
Took online. Watch the videos and take notes on the slides. Do the work and you'll get a good grade. She works with you if you have any problems.
DONT MISS CLASS!!! Go to class and write ever example she says. Your notes should be full by the end of the class period. Study the study guide and you will get an A+.
She is a great professor. She makes things easy to understand and gives tons of examples. She has 3 exams, online Aplia homework, and 4 in-class assignments. The in-class assignments are almost random, so attendance isn't absolutely mandatory, but highly recommended.
I took this class online. Our grade consisted of 3 tests and online aplia assignments(about 7 multiple choice Q's per chapter). I have never been so impressed with a teacher in my life. She is extremely helpful and accommodating. As long as you do the aplia, read the chapters, and watch the lectures, you will pass! It is a great class overall.
Great professor, has a lot of experience and is passionate. Exams aren't that bad if you study. I took this in the Summer and got an A.
One of the best teachers I have ever had at USF in 3 years. I was so excited to go to class to hear what she had to say. I took her BUL class over the summer and was sad we had such a short time. Everyone was a bit bummed. TAKE HER ANY CHANCE YOU GET! AMAZING and she really really cares about each student.
She was very clear. I really enjoyed the information learned throughout the course, however I would not recommend doing the online class if you are not a self motivator. Overall great professor
She is Obviously well educated in her field of study. But didn't give enough reviews of materials before tests. Test questions were complicating and based too much off lectures. Tests were half T/F and half MC. Not enough opportunities to get points in other areas either like participation. Grades consists of only 3 exams and 6 10? Assignments
Took online. Easy class. No book needed, but Pro-Copy of her slides are very helpful. 80 question test, usually curves 3 points. Most, if not all, questions are taken from the video lectures and slides. HW is also QUICK and EASY. Only problem is the lectures are long, usually 1:30, 6 lectures per exam. Lectures are applicable and interesting.
This was a Hybrid Class which I was reluctant to do because I don't like the extra work of online classes, but the video lectures made it better than in person & online combined. It was very convenient to have the actual classroom lecture anytime I wanted. I wish ALL classes were like this! Prof. Stowell is very clear, very nice and very helpful.
Enjoyed the class. Watch the lectures, take good notes and you'll do fine. 3_80 ? exams w/ 40 T/F & 40 MC. curves exams out of 77, not 80. 8_10 point quizzes but she counts the top 6 scores. Quizzes are hardest part of class. Nice lady, kind and very understanding. She cares about the students learning. I would definitely take her again.
WATCH THE LECTURES. The only reason I didn't get an A (instead of a B) was because I didn't watch the lectures before the 2nd exam so I didn't do very well on it. The other 2 exams, I watched the lectures and took notes and got A's. She's very nice and helpful outside of class if you have questions, but the lectures are pretty straight forward!
Very clear and straight forward lectures. Book is not needed! She is very prompt when responding to e-mails and is very enthusiastic in her lectures. Highly recommend!
Take Stowell! She is awesome. The class is easy. Just watch the lectures and you will be fine. Don't buy the book. I didn't open it all semester.
Great class, glad I took it online. She is very helpful and quick to answer emails...not to mention she's hott.
Took this class online, and if you want to pass, watch the lectures and take notes on everything she says. Never opened the textbook because her 3 exams are based on her online videos. Exams are half truefalse, half multiple choice. A great class, learned a lot
I really enjoyed Professor Stowell's class. She will teach you everything you need to know to do well on the tests. Take good notes during her lectures and do all of the homework and you will do fine. She is helpful if you don't understand something, just ask her. She is a great professor! I wish she taught more business courses!
She was AWESOME! Definitely, made sitting in class for 3 hours worth it. Wasn't often we actually stayed the full time but worth taking with her. Would absolutely recommend you take her for Business Law! She will make you want to look into law as a career!
I was taking her hybrid course and it went better than I thought. The hardest part is watching the long lectures. You will not pass if you don't watch them. If I had any questions, she was always available to help me during her office hours. Had 3 80 question exams (40 TF and 40 MC) with 90 minutes to take it. Do the HW for easy points! Loved her!
She is my all-time favorite professor at USFSP! I definitely recommend taking the in-person class if you can. Amazing experience!
She is one of the best professor in USF. This class is really easy and the professor is very helpful whenever you needed. There is three testes, 40 truefalse and 40 multiple question, which comes straight from her lectures and online quizzes, three attempt same question each time. Supper easy if you watch her lectures. I really enjoy the class.
Very responsive and clear expectations. Make sure you watch her video lectures! I did not purchase the book and instead focused on the power point slides.
Took this class online for a summer course, so it may be different from normal semesters. All the homework and exams were based on her lectures. I never opened my book the entire 10 weeks. As long as you study the power points, watch her lectures and take notes you'll be fine. She's extremely nice and curves the exams, drops lowest HW score. No EC.
She is awesome! I took her class online and got an A. Watch her lectures, take notes, and do the homework and you'll be fine. It was super easy and I still feel like I learned a lot.
I loved professor Stowell! I took the Hybrid online course so yes it is a lot of self disciplined work but if you got that then you'll definitely get an A. All I did was watched every lecture, took VERY good notes, studied them a couple of days before the exam and always passed with an A. Her lectures were interesting which helped with the length.
This class was overall very easy to manage. Watch the lectures and takes notes. You will not need the book.
Great class.
Took the online course. difficult to follow lectures on the internet because they are kinda long and when youre home you'd rather do something else anyway.. But she makes the class interesting and it is not difficult to pass at all (especially if you follow the lectures). never even opened the textbook
Great Professor I will definitely take again and recommend to anyone. Lecture are long, in class assignment on certain days that she will not tell so make sure to attend every class. Five homework assignment which is very easy, have 3 attempt at the end of the course she will drop the lowest score. Test are a bit tough so make sure to pay attention
I've been in college for the last three yrs, I can honestly say if more classes had professors who where at the level of professionalism, knowledge, and love what they teach that Professor Stowell has shown than college would be a much better place. Just write down notes, listen, and review the notes and you will pass. More lecture than textbook.
Very nice professor and she takes the time to answer questions! Online is tough. Take her in person! Lots of studying for this class, lots! But that's normal for any business law class. Be prepared to study. However she makes an A doable (if you have lots of time). She also gives a few extra credit points which help buffer and is fair.
Professor Stowell is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is a really sweet lady who knows the subject very well. You can tell she's passionate about what she does. There's 3 tests all true/false & multiple choice, 5 H.W and she drops the lowest, and 5 in class assignments. Take good notes & go to class and you should be fine.
Avoid her!!!!
One of the best online classes I've ever taken! All of the course material is specifically laid out and organized for you. WATCH ALL the lectures, take GOOD notes, and study those notes before the exams, and you'll do just fine. The exams were very straight forward! I learned a lot and got an A! Also, don't buy the textbook you won't need it.
If you put in the time, you will get a decent grade. It was fairly easy. Lot's of memorization.
Definitely watch the lectures. only points away from a C- which is required for the Business school. Tests are incredibly hard and you have to REALLY know your stuff. Take Bogue, I heard she was easier, easier, easier with less work, and more fun class material. Retaking.
Took this course online during the Spring 2016 semester. You don't need the book all you need to get is the Pro-copy and watch the lectures and take good notes. The material is straight forward and she does a great job of giving you examples and scenarios to help you remember everything. One of the Best Professors I've had at USF!!!
She was so nice and fair! Overall very pleasant professor.
Great class, very straight forward.
An enjoyable class from a good professor. Just go to class and pay attention to the lectures and you should be fine.
As mentioned before, very organized and straight forward. Tests are remotely proctored unfortunately, but she gives you the tools to succeed. Also kind enough to split up her lecture videos which makes watching them much more efficient and bearable. Book is not needed; just watch the lectures and go over the PPTs. Invest in flash cards!
Stowell is the most reasonable professor you'll ever take. She's super friendly but makes her expectations very clear. The quizzes and exams are very straightforward and she gives you all the resources you need. You just have to put the effort in to listen to the lectures. Grades exams the night of and very focused on making her job a priority.
Prof Stowell is a highly rated professor and she deserves it. Her online BUL class is intriguing, organized, and full of fascinating information. You need to know your lectures and the tests are tough but once you have completed the class, you are highly educated on law.
Professor Stowell included recorded lectures with the occasional power point slide. Much more enjoyable thank straight power point. Must listen to the lectures and take good notes to do well on the quizzes. You could probably get by without the book but it was nice to reference during the quizzes if your notes were not adequate.
You have to listen to the lectures if you want to do good in this class! I took her over the summer and the month class was hard, but she's a great professor. She gives a lot of examples of terms throughout the lectures to help you understand. Take good notes and study those notes and you'll do good. Textbook wasn't needed.
Amazing Business Law class. This is the professor everyone should take Business Law with. You have to watch every lecture and take VERY detailed notes. Study the lecture notes you take and that is basically the test. 80 question exam and 90 mins to take it (so know your stuff). Got a 98 in the class by taking detailed notes and doing well on exams.
I'd definitely recommend this prof. She provided a video lecture and PowerPoints for each chapter covered. The quizzes were based on the content she covered. Didn't even open the textbook. Her lectures are interesting and the assignments were very straightforward.
I recommend this prof! As long as you take notes and study for the exam you can't get lower than a B on the exams. 3 exams, 6 homework assignments (drop lowest one) She gives great examples for each law definition. Online exams are proctored though!!
Stay on top of the videos and you'll be fine. I break them up throughout the week. She makes the lectures really interesting. Responds to emails really quickly and is really helpful. Homework assignments have no attempt limit and help boost your grade. 3 proctorio exams 80 questions each.
Wish she didn't drop lowest hw because they really helped my grade a lot and dropping one actually bought my average down :( otherwise, no complaints and really enjoyed this course.
Professor Stowell is a fantastic teacher!
She is the best law professor at USFSP. She teaches off her PowerPoint and all her exams are based off her slides. You have 6 homework assignments and 3 exams. Final is not cumulative. She does a couple of surprise in-class assignments but easy. Her lectures are full of info for the exams so listen for stories! Super easy class and she is awesome!
Professor Stowell is very good. She seems genuinely concerned with students. The class is fairly easy. She gives lots of examples from cases to reinforce the material. Multiple choice exams are based on the lectures. Best use of in class competitions like Kahoot and Jeopardy. That gives a great break to the monotony of school work, but helps
Stowell's lectures are engaging and necessary. If you don't watch them, you will not pass the test. Textbook was a waste. Her exams aren't terrible, but you do need to study. You can retake quizzes until you get a 100 and they help prepare you for the exam. Overall Stowell seems like the best option for this class at USF from what I've heard.
This has to have been my favorite class that I have taken at USFSP. Stowell is such an awesome professor. The lectures are actually interesting because she adds in examples for everything she talks about. The examples also make it easier to retain. Exams are not stressful to study for either! I took this online and STILL enjoyed the class and her!
I really enjoyed this class with Professor Stowell. Took it online, lots of lectures each week but they are all interesting and prepare you for the exams. There are 3 exams and she gives you a lot of material and practice questions to study from. She is extremely knowledgeable and a great teacher!
I took Professor Stowell for Bus Law I online and she was absolutely amazing. Very organized, clear with all assignments. Awesome lectures with a lot of examples. Do not need the book what so ever! Just watch her lectures and take notes, the quizlet reviews are not much help either... seriously just watch videos and take notes and you will get an A
Go to class and pay attention to do well on test. Has 5 In-class assignments which she does not tell you the dates. She is a good teacher and seems to enjoy what she is doing. You don't need the book and if you study her power-points you will be fine for the exams. Drops lowest quiz. 3 exams.
She is such a nice professor and makes the lectures interesting an easy. However, exams can be very tricky. The powerpoints she provides was a help and the practice quizzes as well.
One of very few GOOD professors I've ever taken at this school. I wish I could take her for every class because she gives great, detailed lectures + helpful powerpoints, responds to emails very well and gives helpful answers to your questions, doesn't give a ton of homework, and even provides an interactive study guide very similar to test
She is amazing, her lectures can be long but interesting and you need to take notes on everything. Exams only open on Wednesday full day timed and proctored. Interesting class but a lot of memorization. Tests arent too bad if you study, do practice quizes. If you cant sit down for 5 hours a week to watch lectures, dont take her.
Random In-Class group assignments promote attendance.
You need to listen to the lectures! Pretty much all the questions for the exams are discussed as examples in the lectures, take really good notes and you can get an A. The PPT slides are a bit vague, she does that on purpose, you must listen to the lecture. The class was interesting, chapter quizzes, and minimal assignments. I never opened the text
I literally just started this class and I can already say that I will hate this professor. She gives trick questions on the freaking syllabus quiz. I can't imagine what she's gonna do for the actual exams. And the 2 attempts for each quiz means nothing if we can't see the answers we got correct in the first attempt. I am not happy.
By far the BEST online class I have ever taken. She makes quality lecture videos for each chapter, you feel like its live. She includes CC on all videos and repeats important info 3x so you can write notes. She has a bank of practice questions for every quiz. 1 per week - 15 questions. No extra busy work.
Professor Stowell is a great professor. The topics were really interesting and you DO NOT NEED THE TEXTBOOK. I bought the book that has the powerpoint slides from her lectures, it was really helpful.
Professor Stowell is by far the best professor I've ever had. She's passionate about the material shes teaching. Come to class everyday because she gives you information not in the powerpoints. Study a lot for her 80 multiple choice tests.
Nicole is an amazing professor, her lectures are fun and she cares about her students which is rare. The only negative is your grade mostly relies on how you do on her tests which are all proctored.
Professor Stowell has lectures that clearly go over what you should be looking for in her exams. Easy class overall, but if you can't carve out the time for the lectures, see about taking it another semester.
Just watch her lectures on 1.5x speed and take notes according to her PPTs. Quizzes and exams are easy as long as you pay attention to her lectures, which won't be difficult because they're actually interesting and she's not monotonous.
She's an amazing professor & helpful when you don't understand something. I disagree with the students who say her class is easy. It's extremely hard. To pass exams you have to memorize every single word in her lectures. Write down every word & memorize all 5 hours of her lectures for each exam or you won't pass. Don't bother buying the book.
Law can be fun, and Prof. Stowell leans into that. She's honest, practical and clear in her lectures. The homework and exams supplement the lectures, and actually help develop and understanding. Her appreciation for the course makes me appreciate the course and the work I put into this material.
Professor Stowell was great! I would definitely take her class all over again if I had to. Take her class, you will not regret it!
Professor Stowell was such a sweet soul. The class was hard though, felt like I was in law school. 3 tests that are proctored and 80 questions with only 90 minutes. I would recommend getting the procopy to help with notes.
Professor Stowell was AMAZING. Everything she goes over in her lectures shows up on her exams. She gives quizlet reviews that have a few questions show on the exams. Show up to class, take notes, and pay attention and you'll pass with a B minimum. If you need to reschedule to take an exam earlier she's helpful and caring. BEST professor I've had.
2 GEA essay (easy grades), a bunch of discussion posts that are free points if you complete them on time and 3 exam make up your grade. The exams are like the lectures so if you take notes and study all the definitions and examples she gives you will see them on the exam. Also, she gives practice quizzes for the exam use them! very similar to exam
She is so sweet and nice!! Very understanding if you forget to do one of her assignments and will open it for you. The class is awesome, she is awesome! The Exams are not hard but not easy, just put some time into the lectures you will pass easily. I would take her for any class you need. Again, emphasize on how nice she is. Makes learning easier.
A great professor. Very enthusiastic about the material she teaches. If it wasn't for her and her fascinating lectures, it could have been a very boring class.
Your grade will heavily rely on the 3 proctored exams because there aren't many assignments. Class material is taught via pre-recorded lecture and it isn't too boring; Stowell tries to make it interesting. Do not buy the book, it is not needed for this class. (Took this class online, asynchronously.)
It was a great course. I have learned a lot, and it was very interesting. I believe what made it so fascinating is mainly the way she teaches: The PP presentations, and especially the lectures. She has conveyed all the information in a most compelling way. I am very happy I had the opportunity to take this class and learn so much.
I highly recommend this professor.
Great Teacher! Class is organized!
Tests are open notes. Take good notes on everything in the Module and you will be fine. Don't buy the textbook just watch the video lectures.
She is very nice and helpful. one thing you have to study the lectures and then you can do the test easily. She gives the quizlet reviews.
Amazing professor! Law is not the most interesting topic, but Professor Stowell really cares and is mindful of students' workload.
Very clear expectations and rubrics. Textbook was applicable. Lectures were phenomenal. She has such a welcoming spirit. Accessible and responsive. Excited to take more classes with her!
Professor Stowell is a gifted public speaker and her lectures are easy to pay attention to.
She's a great professor and has great lectures. However, the lectures are long and time-consuming. I found myself pausing a lot to take notes and the exams are a big part of your grade and uses honor lock, you are allowed to use notes on the exams but it's a lot of material, I'd have 15 pages of notes to go through. Exams are 80 questions/ 90 min.
I enjoyed taking this class despite my lack of interest initially. Ms. Stowell has great pre-recorded lectures, is very accessible outside of class, and sends weekly updates. The assignments are an easy A. The exams aren't super easy if you don't watch the lectures though. So make sure to make time for them!
I loved Professor Stowell. She gives interesting lectures that the tests are mostly based on; they're open note, and as long as you go to class and take notes on what she says aside from what's on the PowerPoint, you will do well. I suggest taking the practice quizzes a lot before exams, they're good practice for the exam.
Stowell makes the lectures interesting and engaging which helps this otherwise boring subject. The tests were open note, but heavy on applying the law instead of just memorizing the laws.
One of my favorite professors. Truly values work-life balance for students.
My all-time favorite professor. Her Law and Business class was so interesting. She is passionate about the subject and has experience to share, given she is an attorney who's practiced before. She also cares immensely about her students and goes above and beyond to help them outside the classroom, even with things unrelated to her own class.
Professor Stowell has amazing video lectures, but super long so I do 2x speed lol. Her exams are open book, but it can be difficult to know what an answer could be. Personally, I would not take her again because law is boring lol
Makes law as interesting and links them to real-world issues and cases. Don't buy the textbook. Attendance is not mandatory but she offers some in-class assignments so good to go to every class. Frequent attendance helps in exams since questions are from what she mentioned in class. Amazing professor and would definitely recommend taking her class.
Lectures an hour long but explains well. 3 exams & easy annotations. Exams only open for 1 day, super annoying & they're based on the applications of concepts from lectures so you really need to understand the material. Had real computer issues the day of exam, didn't give an extention or sympathy. Law is just alot to learn with all the concepts.
I took her online and did not regret! don't buy the textbook will never use it 3 exams which are all open notes - they have to be printed only Her recorded lectures are the best ones I came across exams are pretty long 80 questions she doesn't make them tricky to fail you, print out her slides and takes notes while listening to lectures
Amazing lectures, explains everything so well. Exams honorlocked, 80 questions 1hr 30 min. It's pretty easy, just pay attention & take notes on lectures also take the practice quizzes they are very similar to the real exam. No extra credit, No dropping any assignment/exams. No makeup exam. Very simple straightforward class. Very few hw per week
Professor Stowell is a great professor and an amazing person. I have had an incredibly complicated semester with unexpected family responsibilities and Professor Stowell has been supportive and helpful throughout the entire process. I couldn't have asked for a better, more compassionate professor. Three honorlocked exams, easy with studying.
Take her for business law and you won't regret it! Buy the Procopy, it makes it easier to take notes. Her exams are directly based on her lectures and she gives the answers in them. The best part is that you can watch the lectures in 2x speed. She makes law so fun and enjoyable to learn about to the point where I actually considered law school.
Pretty straightforward class. Just watch lectures (1.5x speed) and take good notes to do well on exams. Some weekly annotation assignments and a few short written reports on top of the exams make up your grade. Just get stuff done on time and you should just fine.
Prof. Stowell is wonderful. The summer course consists of discussion posts, papers, and two exams. Exams can be tough in a 6 week class but she lets you use her PowerPoints and your notes. Write down EVERYTHING she says in her lecture videos because a lot of exam questions come from there. The ProCopy is just the PPTs printed out, you can skip it.
Professor Stowell makes business law engaging. Her video lectures are great - just watch at 2x speed. The exams are open-book, but you'll need to prepare well. Unstuck study was super helpful for study prep too.
2 GEA assignments, 8 perusall hw, 3 honorlock exams (80 questions each). lectures are long but important to pass exams. 80 q's in 90 mins so make sure you study/prepare well. class is graded by only a few things so do well on the exams (which would fry my brain)
Great, interesting online lectures. very nice. I enjoyed watching them as much as you know business law sounds like it would be boring. Clearly very passionate about the subject and very prepared. explains everything clearly. open (written) note exams. I didn't need it but i'm sure if you did, she'd be happy to provide extra help. def. recommend!
Professor Stowell is the best! She is super kind and great at explaining all of her topics in an engaging way. You can tell how much she enjoys teaching law. BUY THE PROCOPY!! It is $35, but SUPER worth it for exams. She answers emails quickly and is super helpful with any topics. Pay attention/engage in lectures & take notes and you'll do great!
Loved her! Extremely knowledgeable on the topics, she'll even research your hypothetical questions. Lectures are relatable, understandable, and engaging. Weekly Perusall annotation assignments, nothing difficult. Grade is mostly exams, study the Kahoot and practice questions, and you'll be great! Would've gotten an A if I hadn't slacked off.
Very nice and respectful professor. I'm personally not very interested in law, but her lectures were quite interesting, and she tries her best to make them as engaging as possible. Everything shown in the lectures is on the exams, so watch them all. Had some simple assignments and short essays, a very doable class, and a passionate professor.
for a online class, this is the crème de la crème. organized canvas, clear expectations. you still have to score pretty well to get a good grade. make sure you dont violate honorlock she on dat. dont engage in groupme politics who ever decided to yap someone snitched LMAO. nicole like the only business law professor worth taking tbh.
