At the beggining of the semester, I was really worried. She was using a large vocabulary, really stern and strict. After attending a few times I realized, she was not that bad. It was the young students in my class. Mrs. Tong is young and wanted to make sure that the students were not going to walk all over her. Overall she is a great teacher!

This is my second semester with Miss tong (Foreman). I had her for 04 and I took her again because she wants us to pass. We work hard and read alot but I improved.

She's the best. Take the calss. You won't regret it.

I still have her as my English professor right now. She's really nice and she replies your e-mail within a couple of hours. We have to read two books this semester. I've never complete reading a college novel in my life. I actually like one of the books because it was pretty interesting. (title: the Pact)

She makes a boring class fun. I like her energy. She's just a great teacher and person.

She a very good teacher, gives out LOST of HW. She cares about you as a student and is always available to help. lots of reading and writing which sucks but prepares you.

Professor Tong is by far the best professor I've had! I went into this class hating to read but came out LOVING to read. Attendance is mandatory just because you really don't want to miss any days in class. She covers what will be a test, helps you with any help you need and is very clear about assignments.I would recommend her to anyone!

Prof. Tong is simply put a master at English. She taught me that reading and writing is a crucial skill to ahve. She is not easy but not impossible. She is down to earth and can relate to students who are not sure about what to major in college. Great first teacher to take as a freshman. she will teach you how to take the reader by the hand.

Professor Tong is one of the best educators and one of the best people I have had the privilege of knowing. She is calm, caring, and genuinely cares about all of her students. I have seen her at work in the classroom and in the writing center and her ability to educate is beyond words. College is hard work people so expect to commit yourself to it.

She is a really nice person, helps when ever you need(in class or after class) don't ever be shy to ask questions. She kinda likes when people ask questions also she always wants your opinions. on the other hand I cant say that her class is easy, she gives too many assignments.

Best English Professor ever. In the beginning of the semester, I was so scared coz of too much stuff to do that's why few of my classmates dropped the class, but, as time went by, I really enjoyed the class. so sad the class ended up already :( Even if there were so many homework, it really helped me to develop my writing and reading skills.

She is the best professor at nova thats all i can say you should deff take her for english 111 she knows her stuff and it is one of the few prof who are willing to help you.I hate english but when i took her it all changed she is the type of prof who will encourage,this was my fav class she inspire me to become a better writer.

I was really scared to take this class at first and hated writing but she is really helpful and tells you what needs to be fixed on your essays. She knows what she teaches and loves hearing opinions from other students. She gives a lot of homework but they can actually improve on your writing. I would recommend taking her.

GREAT TEACHER! I went into the class scared thinking that I am not capable of writing a college level paper. However Prof. Tong helped me through the whole semester ! Go to her office hours, keep in contact and you will do great! I ended up with an A and I couldn't be happier !

Professor Tong is an amazing professor i had this semester. I hated English so much until i take her. She had taught us well about the structures of how college papers are really like. Do not assume that this class will be an easy A, YOU MUST WORK FOR IT. Attendance and participation is a must in order to pass the class.

An AMAZING professor!

Professor Tong is smart and dedicated English teacher. Its a tough educated process, you have to work, do your projects and co-operate them with your professor and Writing Center. If you do that, you will get an A. This class will take most part of your time. So dont take a lot of classes on the side.

She is one of the best and dedicated prof, she has her way to teach, which is awesome. In the beginning, this class might looks a lot to you, but it will be easy, do not get nervous. She will work with in every single assignment, just go to her office with your paper and she will help you out and even give you some valuable hints.

Professor Tong is the best I wish she taught 112. She wants the student to empower themselves by learning something new each class, she has 4 essays in total. the third once is the research paper which is tough but she gives the best feedback and is always there for you. she gives extra credit points if you come to class on time! Trust me take her!

She is so helpful, I would take her class again. She teaches you to learn not to grade you only. She will do her best to make you pass with a good grade and learn I am still using her techniques in writing and I am acing my essays. Take her if you want good grade and if you want to learn.

Prof Tong is the best English Teacher I ever had in my life. She simply loves her Job. She will take time from class to tell jokes and some stories about her life. She gives very good feedback that will help you improve your writing. I wish she teaches ENG 112. I recommend you to take her if you really want to learn and improve your English skills.

She is the best professor I have ever had in my whole life. She is inspirational, sweet, and loves what she does. But to see all the good side of her and get an A students have to follow the rules. HW and atendences are her priorities.

At first, I thought we would just have to read and memorize poetry or something but I'm impressed. We dig through and analyzing them. For the final paper, the whole class had to analyze a whole book from poets and most of us got A and B. All I can say is she's strict but fair. She also trying to keep the class active. Tip: DON'T EVER skip class.

Professor Tong really does care about her students and how they're doing in general. It's so rare to find a professor that gives their all to a class in a fun and caring way. This was my last semester and she was by far my favorite out of my entire nova experience. I would HIGHLY recommend taking her class.

Amazing! 4 essays that are pretty easy and she has meeting days after each essay which is great! She makes sure you do a rough draft so that your final is great. Beyond helpful and would def take her again for ENG 112

Mrs. Tong is a great professor she is caring and straight forward. She makes the class fun and easy. If you take her class you have to put in effort. She gives you everything you need to pass the class.

She is tough and hot, but she is very nice. The first time she went to the class, all I could say was OMG!! How could I pass her class?? However, I got A in her class because she is very helpful. She breaks all assignments into small pieces to make it easier to finish well. Use her office hours because you will need it! Take her class!

Read the book from start to finish. Take notes because it's for a grade and can be used for the final exam. Speak in front of the class twice. 4 essays, more difficult as you move to the end. USE ALL THE HELP FROM HER OFFICE HOURS!!! TRUST ME. It's a fun class overall because of her high expectations. "Get ahead and don't fall behind" is the moto.

I absolutely love Professor Tong. Everything from her captivating lectures to her super adorable red shoes. This is an ENG 200 level course so there is a lot of writing but honestly I rather spend my time writing about poems of my choice than some boring book assigned by a stuffy professor. But more about Prof. Tong, she is absolutely AMAZING!!!

She is such an amazing person inside and outside of class. She cares so much about each student and will help you 120% if you were in need of help. She also gives you clear advises, tips more over her explanations are very clear. Very intelligent professor. She's my favorite hands down. You will learn so much in great way about ENG111 with her.

Fantastic professor. Knows her stuff. You will learn a lot about poetry. Not an easy class. You must attend and write papers, but it is interesting and fun. lots of in class small group work and discussion. Would take another class from her for sure.

If you follow her instructions to the letter, you already have a guaranteed B! I loved the 2 free passes for absence policy because it kept people on their toes. Take her class!

She is enthusiastic, tough, and professional. She expects much, but the work pays off. The work matters. Writing is heavy, but if you follow the rubric exactly, you'll be fine. Alot of group work and analysis. Text is used often. you feel smarter after the class. You will have a good time if you show up ready to participate. One of the best profs.

Don't even think about taking her class if you know you're not going to show up. She is one of the best professors at NOVA! Wonderful teacher. Made poetry applicable to life beyond school and cared for her students. I took this class during COVID 8 week course, so it was online but she made the best of it. Assignments were hard but had meaning.

I was never great in english but professor Tong helped me like it again. The work wasn't hard but there was a couple of papers but nothing that she wouldn't help answer questions. Lastly, she gave wonderful feedback which is very helpful especially during these times.

Truly one of the best professors I've had (the best at Annandale in my opinion), when I was falling behind she truly cared about me doing well in the class, and gave me a lenient due date for the assignments I missed. I struggled with personal problems throughout the semester I took her, and she wanted to see me succeed in her class.

Prof Tong was amazing! The class can be workload heavy but every assignment is clear and relevant to lectures. She is super kind and cares that you learn and do well in her class. I was struggling at first in her 8 week class but she helped me catch up and I ended up getting an A. Def don't miss more than 1 or 2 assignments bc every point counts.

I took Professor Tong's six-week online class. it's true what the other student said that you will feel smarter after class. I have learned quite a lot and felt more confident writing my final paper after a couple of practices. She is a generous grader and really wants you to learn and to pass through useful feedback and detailed instructions.

Amazing feedback and her goal of the class was to help you succeed. She is very quick with responding to emails and will give you all the details you need in order to complete assignments. Somewhat homework heavy but the assignments are clearly laid out and relatively easy to understand.
