Loved this prof! He was so excited about the material, he made me excited about it too! I loved the course too, and there were jokes all through the final. He refers to Jimi Hendrix on a regular basis.

Awesume prof, knows his stuff!! Buy his CD it really helps for the exams. He really loves cell biology and is extremely enthusiastic about it! Easy to talk to and is very funny.

I remember when this one was Biol 230 and I sure remember Bols. He is hands down, the most entertaining prof I've ever had. The important thing is that he does really care about biology.

His class is like a science comedy club, and he tells dirty jokes in such a classy way!

Just like Bissonnette, this guy knows his stuff and makes bio a hilarious class. His corny jokes help when bio can get boring. (Get his CD when u study for exams! its very helpful)

Bols knows what he's doing. Although he makes a funny noise when he gets excited, he's a funny guy, and very approachable! His exam was fun to write!! (aka. Jessica Simpson if you know what i mean)

Biology 130 is an awesome course, definitely take it with Bols. He is so enthusiastic and approachable. Make SURE you buy his 3$ course CD as soon as possible because it makes studying for exams so much easier and means you don't have to go to lectures. Great teacher, great course, highly recommended.

I really enjoyed Dr.Bols lectures, they were well structured and help you to understand even very complicated material. He throws little songs and jokes in every once and a while to spice it up. I took this course as an elective and certainly do not regret it. Great/Fun/Educational class! (Haven't gotten my term mark yet, but it doesn't matter) A+

Bols is adorable and hilarious. His course notes were broken down in such a clear way, just make sure to study in conjunction with the diagrams in the text book.

Seriously, the first few lectures were fun, from the fourth lecture onwards I was literally dreaming in class. (zzzzz) BEST ADVICE is to buy his CD and dont go to class ever cause everything is the same in the lectures and the CD (the same jokes are also there)

Makes classes interesting with frequent jokes and references to things not of this generation. Knowledgeable about the topic but tends to go off topic. Overall a fun and creative prof.

lecture's kinda boring. But you don't have to go since you can buy the lecture CD.

Fantastic prof. Creative and hilarious. Explains concepts very clearly. Organized class with lecture notes that are the sole basis of the exam questions. Minimal effort is required outside of memorizing the notes. Bols is a great guy, answers your questions sincerely, and truly wants you to do well. The tutorials for this class are terrible

Bols explains things very well. Loved the CD more than the lectures even. Funny jokes once in a while to keep you awake on a dry topic. Notes are very helpful. Not too hard.

Fun-loving and generally energetic, but the course material is dull and he tended to read the material completely off the slides when he fell behind. It's better to just skip class and use his CD, even if you're a keener. The midterm was easy. The final brought a lot of peoples' average down. Fair warning.

I met Dr.Bols 3 years ago and asked him for directions on my first day of classes :D! Amazing professor for BIOL 130, really helpful when you ask, and very enthusiastic! Midterms were not easy for me back then, but when i look back at it now...it was so easy!! I wish he taught upper year bio courses too :(

Straight forward exams, nice prof. Get the CD and course notes and you'll be set. Going to his lectures is not only entertaining but also very educational. Great course. I would highly recommend taking it with Prof. Bols. AOI: Knows his lecture too well so it's like a well rehearsed play, as a result he is not as responsive to questions.

He is awesome! My favorite prof. I would take a class just because he's teaching it. Half this course was presentations (where attendance is mandatory) but it's not a hard class if you pay attention.

Really awesome prof. Enthusiastic explanations and always kept the class interesting. Like everyone says, midterm and final were fair, just come to class and do a bit of studying and an A is no prob in this class.

Prof Bols is amazing; his enthusiasm really lights up the material and makes it come alive. No need to get the textbook; just buy his lecture notes and CD and pay attention in class and an A is no sweat. He's a happy man as well and willing to help :)

Entertaining..funny..different are three words that describe his bio 130 class..he' s made a useful cd if you happen to miss his classes..recommend you to attend the live!

Bols is one hell of a prof. He cares that you do well, is willing to help and is also funny. He is very kind, and never puts anyone down. You can ace the course by just going to lecture, watching the cd lecture, and going off the course notes. I got only one wrong on the midterm, and finished the course with a 90. One of the most amazing profs.

Easy course with a prof that makes it even easier. A basic review of highschool bio with some new material. All multiple choice, fairly easy if you study the course notes. Easy 80+ with no effort.

It?s not easy to summarize the Niels Bols experience in just a few words: he's funny, clear and intelligent... plus he looks like Santa Claus. The lectures: helpful yet entertaining. You can buy surprisingly good course notes + a cd with animations and the contents of the lectures on it. The exams: super easy (the Midterm more so than the final).

You can study at home with your notes and the cd, but why would you want to stay home when you could attend his lectures?? :D

Biol 130 was great the way he taught it, you didnt even have to attend lectures and everything on the exam and midterm is based from his notes. I rarely used the textbook. Such an energetic guy and makes the exams really well.

I learned most of the marterial in highschool already. I think I went to class twice but I stayed caught up by watching his lectures in comfort of my own home. Buy the lecture disk. Seriously!

Great, amusing Prof. Very funny, from his HEEEEYYYSS!to his apoptosis, he loves biology. Goes of on random tangents, but wakes you up if you fall asleep. Midterm was very easy. His course notes are very helpful, CD is good and funny. Exam is not easy but fair.

Awesome awesome prof...though I think he doesn't teach anymore...I took the online version of the course and every lecture narrated by him was a pleasure to listen to. Exam was very easy, largely review from high school.
