Dr. Sultana cannot teach effectively. People are called to the front of the class to answer questions on the board and they do a better job explaining the topics than she does. You will be reading the textbook a lot due to this and the lecture is not helpful. The class was entertaining at times though.

To succeed in this class make sure you can read and teach yourself every night or find a friend that can. Dr. Sultana relies on the students in class to teach by calling them up to work out the problems, yet when they are wrong she does not tell us what they did wrong nor does she show us how to do these problems correctly. Terrible waste of 50 min

If you like teaching yourself, then take this class. Dr. Sultana is not great at teaching and explaining concepts. Most of the lectures have students come up to explain, but she does not tell us if the students are wrong or not. She is also very inconsistent and constantly moves homework dates without telling anyone or just removes it completely.

Lectures are hard to understand, you can tell she is very new and lacks teaching skills. She fails to work out a problem after the entire class gets it wrong. Overall bad experience.

Professor Sultana hands down is one of the greatest professors I've had at NCSU. All of her lectures are very comprehensive and I always felt as though I knew what was happening in class. Tests aren't terrible either, as long as you properly prepare them. Office hours are also very helpful too if you choose to go to them.

All of these positive reviews are fake, I think she is writing them herself to be honest cause I don't know how anyone can rate her 5 star. She is a nice person but the WORST teacher I've ever (and I seriously mean it) been taught by. Make sure you can find someone who took ap chem in high school if you end up in this class cause you will need it.

As some of the other reviews have said, this class is not ideal for people who rely on teachers teaching them the subject, but rather a class where you need to teach yourself to perform well. Attendance is mandatory, but lectures are pretty pointless because all she does is talk abt irrelevant matters.

While the overall class was fairly easy, Dr. Sultana did not give good lectures and often would leave students more confused than they were before. The lectures were often very scattered and unorganized, with her skipping through many slides. The best way to learn in the class is to watch other professors lectures or go to SI.

If you like teaching yourself, then you'll do ok in this class. Otherwise, you are going to struggle at lot. While she seems like a nice person, her lectures make students more confused on subjects than if they had just taught it to themselves. Also, she constantly moves around assignment due dates, and you never know when anything is actually due.

Dr. Sultana is sweet, but she's not the best teacher. She often relies on students to teach the class, and she won't proceed until someone comes forward; this process happens frequently and takes up class time. She doesn't convey material well, so expect a lot of self-teaching. I don't recommend her unless you know the material prior.

This class is easy because she makes all of the tests easy, and she cares about us. But, I learned nothing from her class. I'm doing ok because of AP chem in high school. Class is scattered and disorganized, and she has an accent. Students come to the front and answer questions, so it's distracting. Disregard all of these 5s and avoid this teacher!

Dr. Sultana is nice but she's an awful teacher. She assigns homework about topics we haven't even covered in class. Hard to understand and doesn't ever explain how she got an answer. Calls students up to explain because she does not know what she's doing. Constantly behind and unclear about deadlines. Makes us clap for her when she moves due dates.

While Dr. Sultana is a very kind professor, she is not a very good one. She fails to lecture appropriately, often stopping and calling students to the front of class to demonstrate ideas. She assigns a lot of homework, but will not cover the material until the day that it is due, then move the due date at like 8pm on the due date.

A truly confusing and uninteresting teacher. I could go on and on, but the best depiction for you is to simply look at all the bots she's using to boost her score. If that's not an incite into her personality, I don't know what is. Avoid this teacher if you can.

Professor Sultana is an extremely poor educator who cannot explain her own questions and relies on students to explain during lectures. Before looking at her overall rating please read the 5-star reviews posted, many of her students are questioning their legitimacy based on how copy-paste they all are. She has a lot of passion but avoid this class.

Take this class if you are just here for a decent grade. She gives extra credit and heavily curves tests to make her grading look better. If you actually want to understand the material, she is HORRIBLE at teaching and you will not understand anything conceptually. You will have to self-teach topics considering how even SHE doesn't know material.

This teacher cannot teach you will have a difficult time understand her and will have to teach yourself through the homework's or other resources. She heavily curves test and is a class that you can get a good grade without knowing anything. Do not take this professor if you want to learn chemistry.

Sultana is a very nice person however don't come into this class expecting to learn anything whatsoever from her. Pretty much what every single negative comment on her profile is saying is true. She relies on students at times completely stopping class for seconds at a time trying to get a student to do her job.

I thought I would do fine in this class because I did fine in high school chem, but dude. I have never felt so clueless. If you have a planner or something you use to schedule your assignments, that would be impossible in this class. Everything gets moved back. I'd make a chemistry joke, but I haven't learned enough to come up with one.

When questions are presented in class, the majority will get the question wrong and instead of explaining, she will just move on. Overall bad and wouldn't recommend for anyone.

She blames the students for not doing well, using reasons such as not having study groups, not going to the career success center, etc She's pretty inpatient and her teaching techniques aren't that refined. She especially likes to reverse teach the class by asking either a volunteer or the class to solve the problem rather than doing it herself

Though Dr. Sultana is a very caring person, she just cannot teach that well. Many students in that class explain the topics better than she does. The lectures are not helpful. She skips over explaining the questions that we all get wrong, but she will explain it if only two people get it wrong. Run far, far away. Her time management is also bad.

Dr. Sultana is a kind soul but an awful professor. Her English is hard to understand, and she cannot communicate concepts effectively. She will often call kids down to the board to explain a concept. Additionally, she randomly bounces homework due dates around without giving you notice and makes it very unclear when things are actually due.

I took Sultana for chemistry and it was an interesting experience. People mention not being able to understand her, but I can understand her for the part and she's nice, she's just terrible at explaining things and teaching. She constantly is changing due dates for homework and every test has a high curve because EVERYONE fails pretty much.

Save yourself from this professor, it's not worth it. She has a strong accent so her lectures are extremely hard to understand. She assigns homework on content she has not covered in class and waits until like an hour before it is due to change the due date. For the exams I resorted to teaching myself everything to do well. Honestly one of the worst classes ive ever taken. Her accent is impossible to understand, she skips multiple slides at a time, pushes homework without any notice, and is just an overall horrible instructor. DONT TAKE CHEM WITH HER!!!!!

Dr.Sultana is a wonderful and kind woman but the WORST professor you will ever find. If you show up to class, expect to get absolutely nothing out of it. She puts questions and slides on the board and speeds through them. She barely even talks about her own slides and makes kids come up to answer every single question "quotion".DO NOT TAKE.

She goes very slow and doesn't go through all of the material for the test. Attendance is mandatory and she goes through tophat questions every day (graded). You need to study a lot outside of class if you want to do well. She makes student go up and teach the the class after tophat questions. She says she will add points to tests but doesn't.

Me and my friends basically just taught ourselves. If the attendance wasn't mandatory, I guarantee no one would show up to the lectures. I would not recommend this class to anyone, period.

Funny person, abysmal teacher.

Dr. Sultana is a very nice professor, but I have struggled to learn in her class all semester. She is new to teaching and I do not think the chemistry department has given her any guidance on how to teach or use the technology. This is her first semester teaching 400 students and she does not know how to handle it.

When a professor fakes reviews on Rate My Professor just to save face, this should tell you enough about who the professor is as a person. Classes were extremely disorganized, relied on Top Hat, homework would be pushed and due dates would be made extremely unclear. Over all, if chemistry is an important base to your major, do NOT take this class.

She is very hard to understand and doesn't teach the topics well. There were a ton of top hat questions and after top hat questions she would get someone to come up and teach it after. We were constantly behind schedule which would make her rush through topics. All the 5 stars are fake reviews. She was a horrible teacher.

She cannot teach this class, she uses the chalkboard instead of the slides that have the information we need, she just teaches what she thinks is necessary and expects us to just magically know the rest. Horrible professor, disorganized, and is trying to up her rating by adding fake reviews. Avoid at all cost. Barely teaches, heavily relies on students to explain answers to every single question. Skims through slides, impossible to take notes in class, so you have to teach it yourself or rely on tutoring.

This professor is genuinely awful. She is a grad student who should have stuck to research. She cannot explain any topic clearly and she keeps moving homeworks around so you never know when something is due. She keeps boosting her ratings with false ratings on RMF. Dr. Sultana is a very nice person though she is horrible at explaining things in her lectures. Oftentimes she will go over concepts that the class has already mastered and skip over important info. I have self taught the whole course and lectures only cause more confusion. Accent makes it even worse. Only plus is that the tests are very easy.

Dr.Sultana is the worst professor I've had at NCSU so far. Her accent is extremely difficult to understand but that is not the worst part. She is bad at teaching and constantly stops class to make students explain topics or ask people to stop talking. She frequently skips explaining a question that only 10% of the class was able to get correct.

One of the worst teachers I have ever had she buys her reviews and will skip parts of the lecture and if over 75% of the class gets a question wrong she brushes over it and moves on without explaining the answer

Worst teacher I've ever had, and I genuinely have no idea how she was hired. She is a lovely human but should not be teaching. She writes reviews for herself, puts students in the position where they have to learn everything elsewhere, is hard to understand, and doesn't explain things well or sometimes at all. Please become a middle school teacher.

My friends and I all struggled to understand her teaching, she doesn't explain things well and makes kids teach the class! And even worse, she doesn't post her lectures, she posts other people's lectures. People receive good grades since she curves the tests and gives extra credit, but she only does that because everyone scores so low!

First of all, IGNORE THE 5s. If you didn't notice, every rating is the same. There are so many things to say, from her lack of teaching to her poor time management. She had students coming up to explain problems, every HW assignment was pushed back, and she spent more time telling kids to stop talking than she did teaching.

I learned practically everything from outside resources and peers. She manages time very poorly during lectures and the material taught is not what is on the given coursework. The tests are pretty straightforward, but that is only because she never teaches the material in enough detail to include it on the tests. If possible, try to avoid.

She is a very sweet person which makes it very sad to write an awful review, but she is an awful teacher. She does not go over half the content on the tests so only take her if you are ready to teach yourself quite literally everything. She is extremely confusing in terms of homework and grading, you will never know when anything is due.

Professor Sultana is sweet and I think shes trying her best, but she has a lot of work to do to be considered a serious teacher. She has written ~80 fake reviews so far; she seems to think all of the 1 star reviews are coming from racists and/or failing students who are too obstinate to fix their study habits. She is wrong. Expect minimal learning.

Sultana is nice and has good intentions but her teaching skills need lots of improvement. I find the lectures to be disorganized and confusing at times and I would not recommend taking her.

A nice person, NOT A GOOD TEACHER. Please don't take her. She doesn't prepare you for tests and I have had to teach myself. Her slides are a mess and I've had to put way more work into this class than it should have been. If you are not good at chemistry, don't take her. She is very VERY hard to understand and her teaching style is awful and she barely goes over questions and her slides are attrocious. She is a nice person but she just cannot teach for the life of herself. study guides are more confusing than helpful. avoid if you can.

Way too many times did I read the presentation she was using, and think to myself: Hey, I could explain this better than her given 30 seconds than she just did for the entire lecture, with just what I could derive for myself with new content. Also gave 3 minutes for questions that should take 15 seconds, then say, "no time to explain" and move on.

DON'T TAKE HER. I was excited for chem but then realized that I had no idea what was going on. As nice as she is, she's all over the place. She often contradicts herself. The hw assignments are hard bc we're always behind. The tests aren't too bad if you study and are often curved. She does a few extra credit assignments, but they don't help much.

She was actually a horrible teacher, she was always behind on lecture slides. Our test grades dropped after she became our professor. She also made almost all the 5 star reviews on herself.

Her accent is hard to understand and you learn virtually nothing in class but her tests are pretty easy and she curves tests all the time and gives 5 extra credit points for every test. The material isn't that hard so as long as you study the homework you'll be fine.

You won't learn chem in this class and will have to teach yourself.

She will also constantly change the homework due dates and that causes students to find it difficult to keep track of assignments. If you're going to take this class, be ready to teach yourself the course.

Professor Sultana was genuinely one of the worst teachers/professors I've ever had. She would fly through the slides, not really teaching, and then would do practice problems, sometimes on stuff I couldn't find in the slides. She would then give way too much time for the problems, and not even explain them, but have a student explain how to do it.

She's a very nice lady and obviously has a lot of knowledge on the material, but this is her first year of teaching and she doesn't explain the material very well. If you have her as a professor, you'll need to do a lot of work outside of class to understand whats being discussed in class and succeed in the course.
