Im the type of student that will thrive if the professor ensures it. this is not the case w Nigel. while he is passionate and incredibly knowledgeable, the way he teaches just isnt efficient. I always felt uncertain about what we were doing in class as well as my grade. when he lectures it wont pertain to things you SHOULD know. horrible. srsly.

Take prof Hancock if you're okay with doing work on your own. He expects students to be independent and doesn't wait if you're behind. Lecture heavy, and I really recommend taking notes, you'll need it. His lectures are long, but manages to make most of them interesting.

all lectures, so def take notes on everything. he's a solid professor who knows his stuff. dont expect to get by without paying attention though, def need to pay attention to lessons and study information he tells you. this semester was jumbled bc of corona, so he had to make vids for all his lectures but pulled through for us. thx prof hancock!

this class had to be taken online due to the coronavirus so the transition took some getting use to for students as well as professors like professor hancock, but his class is pretty much based on lectures, there are pop quizzes and exams and one paper, as you pay attention and do your work you will get a good grade, i would take his class again

If you are already a science major or you have a basic science foundation this class will be a breeze for you. If this is your first science class I'd suggest taking it with someone else. Professor Hancock is knowledgeable but he expects a lot (he is also a fan of trick ?'s) For visual learners: this class is 99% him lecturing with no power point.

Great teacher. The core of the class is the 3-4 12 minute lecture videos he gives every week, and the quiz he gives at the end of the week is entirely based on those lecture videos. The Exams were even easier. I got A's on every exam and all I did to prepare was rewatch the lectures that he told us the Exam was going to be about.

Professor Hancock makes things extremely difficult for students when it shouldnt be. M 5 credit class and professor was much easier than his. I wouldnt take him again for the simple fact that he doesnt encourage his students and always leaves negative feedback after ppl are done with quizzes or tests. Ridiculous

He gets a 2 instead of a 1 because at least he can teach. Though, I could definitely do without him being so spiteful. "Amazingly, only half of you got this, even with my 4-minute explanation, and a whole third-party PowerPoint, to help you," he says. Not the worst thing, but the nasty attitude/contempt is there. He's been like this every week.

I feel bad leaving this review :( the professor is great& passionate but if you are taking this class only as a requirement, dont take this class. Tests always had many trick questions, notes not allowed, proctored. I had 5 other classes this semester & this was the only class making me feel burnout. Ended up dropping despite the W, no regrets.

Nigel Hancock is by far my favorite lecturer. His lectures help you to remember the info for the quizzes and exams. He is so very educated and knowledgable. I learned more in his class than any other. This class changed my perspective on so much. I will take all of this information with me for my life and my future. This class should be Mandatory!

Excellent lecturer who has put a lot of effort into his online course. There were weekly quizzes, four exams, a presentation, and an extra credit paper. Every exam also had extra credit. A good grade required a little more work than most community college courses. There were many hours of lectures to watch, but they are very interesting.

Many students have reached out to him only to be met with an aggressive rebuttal. He consistently goes off course in his lectures, assigns questions that we would have no means of knowing, and is seemingly intentionally having nigh impossible tests and quizzes which the average score plummets further and further with every consecutive test.

The information is not difficult. He seems to gain pleasure from making the tests difficult or tricky. When he reviews the quizzes and exams he talks down to the students who misunderstood the questions or got the answers wrong as if they also had been teaching Physical Geography for 30 years also. Not only verbally, but even on the canvas reviews.

I thought this professor was too old and should retire. He has a bad attitude towards students. His computer skills are outdated by 15 years. Also made me download a file that bugged my PC to track my data. He assigns you a textbook and doesn't follow it. Rather you'll listen to his lectures. They were dull & Not engaging enough.

For me I will never ever take this class again with this teacher because he doesn't let us use notes when we are doing a quiz. Like when I was doing my quiz I didn't even get to finish it because we was literally doing the quiz for only 15 mins. Like someone said he's too old and needs to retire ASAP. I recommend you guys to not take this class.

Tough grader, worked hard on my quiz and he gave me a zero because one question was “plagiarized”. Nothing is unique anymore so everything sounds “plagiarized”. Had him years ago, ended with a D. Decided to give him a chance many years later and I regret it.
