he is a hard teacher.but if you understand the subject you will learn in his class a lot and with detailed information.
The most difficult class I've ever taken. Too much material and way to little time. Prof. Sow is great but this material is incomprehensible at this pace. Getting a c in a miracle.
I love Math, but not Stats. maybe this prof. makes it too hard. He tells students to do written hw. and "it's a part of the grade" on well, it was a lie. he did not even look at my hw nor did he give me any extra credit for my effort.
Sow tries hard to explain the coursework to his students. He even re-explains it to those who are struggling, but it is to no avail. This class was really hard. I made the mistake of not using a TI 83/84 the first half. Learn how to use the calculator, and all it is from there is plugging in numbers. Its the only way to get a good grade.
he is good person but very hard. he gives tones of homeworks on the paper and online.took online quiz on every chapters. if u abesent more than 4, he will drop u!
He really explains the material until you understand, sure he gives A LOT of homework but its only for the students to put to practice what they learned and actually master the material.
Great professor. He explains everything in detail so that you really understand the material. He moves at a perfect pace. He gives a lot of HW so that you practice the material and understand everything. He is really funny and incredibly smart; he made math class fun. He is very helpful, and will help you individually if needed. Highly recommended!
He is the best professor in terms of relation to students and communication. He is the most understanding and yet strict prof. i have come across.I would do the class over and over again without getting bored
Professor Sow is an excellent math teacher, and a really good guy. He is really funny and extremely intelligent. He's strict but he somehow made math fun to learn and easier to understand. He assigns a lot of hw, but it's for your own benefit. His class is great, Highly recomended.
Exceptional, Top-Notch Professor. Will take any of his classes without hesitation. Excellent method. Lots of homework. The best choice for the students serious about their education!
Prof. Sow is a really engaging guy who works very hard to help his students understand the material. This is challenging stuff. Make certain you get the TI-83 calculator. This is not a class to coast through; it's amazing what happens when you put in the time: A problem that baffles you one night becomes suddenly clear the next day. No lie.
It's hard to believe all these ratings, yes sow is a nice guy, but he cant teach at all!! No joke, I'm in the middle of the semester and everyone has failing grades.. He copies from the examples of the book and goes so fast, I recommend Sow to ppl that already know math and just need a refresher
He is great!Funny, dynamic, patient, explains well, and puts math in a context.I recommend this class to the ones who want to learn and are willing to put effort on it.You gotta study and review the material at home for sure.He is accesible and willing to help.It is true he goes fast, but ther's no other way around it since we gotta cover 10 chapters.
Prof. Sow is a wonderful. You have to do 4 tests in class and the weekly homework is online. Sow made me love Math. He is a bit fast, but as soon as you practice at home you will get it.Fair grading. The sample test exercises are very helpful. If you study the sample exercises, you will get an A on tests, and so on the final as well.
This man can not break things down he needs to simplify. He is use to teaching higher level math and asumes you know the material already.
I got A last semester because I put 100% of me.I studied at home and did all quizzes 3 times as he suggests.Lazy people who want easy things should not take this class. He is very helpful and willing to help.True that he goes fast, but it is understandable since the book is huge.I highly recommend his class.
Patient.
Sow, is an exception math teacher because he want his students to look a math from a different prospective. He has a plan for everyone in his class. If he sees that you are trying hard, he won't let you down.
Prof. Sow is the best math teacher i've taken. I struggle with math so much. He made everything so crystal clear.Extremely helpful. Also he leaves alot of hw, and do have to work hard.if you want an essay A look else where. If you want to learn take him, you wont regret it.
Mr. Sow is the greatest math professor I have met. The Math 115 summer class changed my perception about mathematics; math isn't only dealing with numbers or signs. It's about the life. Heis strict but very patient, intelligent and willing to help students who struggle the concept. You will learn math as well as philosophy from Mr.Sow.
He is not only a teacher, a great guide too. He will uelp u with almost anything u want. He wants to give u a good grade but u have to work hard for it.must attend his classes on time. He makes math inteteresting and alive
Sow must be rating himself cause all these good things are NOT true at all. If your bad at math I do not recommend, before the semester was done more then half the class dropped! Don't be fooled
By the way, all hwk, quizes, tests done on computer so hes so lazy to teach assumes the computer will teach you, waste of time to even go to class
He's not a bad professor... but I've never seen someone so anal about attendance before. And unfortunately he has great memory so don't think he'll forget if you walk out of class early.
Prof.Sow isan amazing teacher. hes not an easy grade but he'll make your time worthwhile. math has never been my strong subject but he opened my eyes to a whole new understanding of its concept and its importance. id reccomend prof.sow anyday. :)
Were to begin? He is 5 min late everyday.Leaves in a hurry right after class!About 10 percent of the test are like the hw the rest are trick questions!Lies about what he puts on the test!More than half of the class dropped and he said it was normal! The only person passing the class was the math tutor! I dont recommend him!
i love mr. sow, hes so helpful and funny, when you don't get it, he'll repeat it 3 or more times if he has to until you get the concept. He compares math to real life examples in a way that you'll understand. He is although a very disciplined teacher so hes really strict with attendance and lateness
great instructor. goes through all examples in the book and helps alot compared to lots of math instructors. calc is hard, math is hard in geneneral but brings life examples trying to make students undersand. i will take his class anytime
too fast at times, too strict with attendance, unfair way of grading tests, math is not easy as it is, add to that too many points off test for silly stuff and you get a zero. For working adults with limited time to study I'd drop his class better and start over. He is no so bad, but 2 strict. More than half my classmates were gone within 7-8 weeks
After taking LEE VINCENT's class I now appreciate Prof Nilli's quality on teaching. He is one of the greatest professors in LACC. he works out every example in the book and really tries hard to make yuo understand the material.
I love this professor. He is very helpful and is really interested that you actually understand the concepts in this class instead of rote memorization. A difficult class. If the class is having a hard time he might extend the online homework (he did for us)just ask. Overall I recommend him.
You have to work hard for this class, as it's not an easy class. He's a funny guy, but is a tough grader. He wants to make sure that everyone understands the concept. Make sure you do your homework, as it helps you for your test.
Not a bad teacher, but inconsiderate when it comes to the amount of homework he gives and announcing tests. Doesnt leave much room to study for other classes.
Very disorganized, lies about what is on the tests, and rushes through the material.
Thinks he's funny, basically reads out of the book, very picky tests grading, and if u mess up on first test A is not possible, lots of hw.
Definitely not an easy professor. He makes you work hard.He normally gives 3 sections of HW on Math XL PLUS 50+ questions of book work. After class ends he's always in a hurry to leave the classroom. Goes on rants and just an awful prof overall. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU'RE NOT GOOD AT MATH!!!!
It's true that the class is very challenging. I took the class last Spring semester. He's a nice guy, but just like a saying "don't judge a book by its cover", you'll find him a very tough grader! Make sure you do your homework and pay attention during the lecture, and take note of the details to help you get through this class.
Professor Sow will prepare for university level thinking. You cannot blame him for your lack of studying and attendance. That is on you. He will teach good habits to become a successful student.
He is a very rude professor and doesn't help. HE gives you so much work and if you have a part time job and attending this class expect to fail. He expects you to learn at his level which is not acceptable. Be careful taking this guys class.
This professor is not good he is very rude and doesn't explain the material correctly and gives you loads of homework. His test don't make scene questions are not the same as homework. If you have a part time job do not take this class. Good luck people with this professor.
Considering that math is generally a foreign language to all of us, I believe that Professor Sow did a great job in translating the best way he could. He took his time when needed, and is available to his students to review tests and possibly give you partial points. He wants you to succeed if you put in the effort.
I am not good at math but he taught me a lot, and was very helpful. The only thing is he gives an extremely large amount of home work which he believes you can finish in less then a day. He also have zero tolerance for phones and will kick you out. He also is very much on attendence He does all his test online and is very smart in Math.
In the beginning of the year he adds every student that comes in because he knows that and of the semester 60% will drop and the rest 30% is in the border of getting C or D and the last 10% maybe B and if you are smart, lucky and he like likes u, you will get an A. BTW I got a D
No explanation of the subject he just reed of the book and does the book’s ex. Even though u have it in the book. than gives u lots of homework, cant drop the lowest greade if u miss or be late/leave early of a class. Doesn’t help you much he gives EVERYTHING that is on the syllabus and doesn’t tell u what is important.
He teaches you 1+1 but his tests are the hardest examples of that problem u can imagine, even though he tells you what type of problem he is going to bring doesn’t matter how hard u study hill find a mistake .
No partial points on the tests even though he tells you he loves to give u that point. I once got the final answerer -1/8 and after solving a half a page but the answered was +1/8 and that problem had 10 he gave me ZERO points it was just a simple algebra mistake
Satisfied Teacher. But When He Gives Homework From The Book He Never Checks it. He Only give points from online homework.. Attendance is a must.
Awful and too fast. He thinks he is smart and expects students to be the same. Regret to take his class. Attendance is must.
Strict professor , overloads with homework ; gives 70 +problems on math xl not counting the book work and weekly quizzes. Recommend to those who have a solid background in math.. more then half class is failing. WILL drop you if you're absent 4+ times even in the middle of the semester.
Professor Sow cares for his students and has an obvious passion for teaching. He will do what it takes to help you understand Math.
Less than 1/4 of my class thats left is failing, the rest dropped out. Hes not a good teacher. Jumps over chapters, , Overloads homework, no extra points on anything and no curve. Take at your own risk.
He is so good guy. He explain well. Also, he thought what will be on the test. He gave us a lot of homework, but it really helpful for preparing tests. 5 tests and one final. You need to explain all the steps. If you do not explain, you cannot get grade. Work hard, you can get grate score.
He is strict but not hard to get grade. Many HW. He deals with textbook only. In the beginning hard to solve problems of proof things but after 1st exam, it would be better. He drops 1 lowest score of exam. It is a chance to get good grade for you.
Be prepare of calculator or you should prepare excel or statdisk. I didnt use calculator but statdisk and excel. Recommend learn from book how to use them. He drops lowest score of exam and I got a. Many hw but use your time on mathxl not many on written hw would help you to get good grade
He is the guy to take for calc 1. He is laid back and accepts whatever the class demands. Collects HW and gives extra time on tests. So do the HW & review extensively, and there is no way you can not get an A.
Professor Sow was amazing! I've gone to UCLA and also did my Masters at another school, and I have to say he was one of my favorite overall. Not only is he committed to the learning of students who actually are invested in the course, but he's very personable, kind, and understanding. I was expecting to have a horrible time in Stats, but I didn't!
This professor inspired me to enjoy math and gave me the confidence to do well in a subject I had only ever failed at. He teaches the American method of arithmetic as well as the international method and is always there for his students. I would be honored to take another class by him again.
Mr. Sow seems like he loves his job, being said this class was HARD, he speaks very softly&fast he will not repeat himself or write on the board you better get it the first time, he is an avid user of mymathlab assigning hours of hw on there in addition to book hw, the mass amounts of hw will kill you if the tests & no calculator rule doesn't 1st
Horrible, horrible experience. Why on earth would you base an entire math class on PROOFS? It's professors like him that put people off from mathematics.
Awesome teacher, makes math interesting and fun. Great person always willing to help.
Although his attitude is nice and positive. He is not very good at explaining things. Never organized. Loses himself in explaining things. Goes too fast. Not proactive in student needs. Not clear. And goes by the book, does not know excel well, but showed us how to use calculator. Just Avoid.
I once had a meeting with Mr Sow during his regular office hours, to my surprise I walked in on him with his office door closed and saw him sleeping inside his office with his head on his desk. Now, is this the type of professor you want? Absolutely Horrible! If I could rate this guy a -1 I would. I learned absolutely nothing in his class.
He goes straight to the problems which are all from the book. His class is very fast-paced so go to the bathroom before class. All in all he is a great professor and i learned a lot from him.
Sow's class is harder than it shld be. I havent taken a math class in many years and his pace was too accelerated. Goes page by page of the book and hesitates to explain the previous work in the next class. He relies heavy on homework which is time consuming. He assigns bookwork but wont check it. I barely passed with a C. oh and no calculators!
His accent is a little strong, I hated the fact that he would go through the sections so quickly. And he is huge in attendance, if you are late a lot or 10 minutes late he will not allow you to stay in class
Sow's class was tough and he assigns lots of homework. However, the homeword does help you! his course is fast paced so you need to keep up with the work. He is a fair grader. I was a percent and half away from a B and he gave it to me.
Professor sow is nice but doesn't give chances. All his exams are through mymathlab website and trust me, if you make the slightest mistake like missing a comma or forget to so the smallest detail in your answer, then the whole thing is wrong. He give ALOT of homework too.. Every week we had over 200 math problems to do worth only 10% of your grade
Straight to the point , Hard to understand heavy accent does everything on my mathlab over 200 questions on mymathlab does online tests does not give examples and always reads out of the book , never gives his own lectures
Professor Sow is a really nice guy. Sure he gives A LOT of Homework, but I mean you're in college! You wont have no one holding your hand. Do your work, pay attention, ask questions and you'll be fine. He dedicates time for you if you ask him for it. He is not a tough grader! He will work with you trust me!
He's a good professor. He sure does give a lot of homework but that will help you prepare for tests. He's a very wise man. Attendance matters don't be late, pay attention and do your homework.
gives a lot of hw which was helpful with educosoft or math xl (not sure which he is using now), is very understanding and helpful (see him at office hours for any issues!), listens to his students' input, and drops lowest score if all hw is completed and you attend every class. math is usually so difficult for me but i passed with an A!
This professor is by far the best professor I known He's chill, funny, and is very fair grader He cares so much about his students Although I did had a problem about his class, which was his exams on MyMathLab, teaches way too fast, and that's it Overall, he saved my semester and I would recommend him only if your good at math
Professor Sow was a great instructor. It had been years since I have been to school and he really did a great job reminding me of basic math and fractions. He does goes fast, but teaches directly from the book- so you can study later and know where he got his answers. If you they, he works with you on the tests (partial credit, etc).
He definitely gives a lot of homework. I try keeping up with him. He goes into lectures really fast as if he knows you know this material already. He is funny but very sloppy unorganized
I'm taking his Math 114 class right now! So far, I hate it!! I have 7 Classes, I'm a full time employee/ student. Homework is due the very next day. I find it hard to make time to study and understand the material when i have a small space of time to TRY and understand. ( I do NOT recommend)
Best Math teacher I've ever had. He gives example problems before the test. How can you fail when he's telling you what to study. I don't know what people expect? Nobody's just going to hand you a degree! Sorry!
Professor Sow is the man! He wants you to struggle with math so you understand it. Yes, he gives a lot of homework almost daily but it is all intended for you to understand the material. As long as he knows you try hard, he is more willing to give you deadline extensions. Don't skip class because it is hard to catch up and take him seriously.
He's a pretty chill guy. I like him a lot. I'm an ELAC student and I went to LACC to take Math 124A and 124B to clear out my Math 125 after attempting it so many times. Sow has a positive personality and is a gentleman as well. Tests, Quizes and Homework are done online, but if you do all of the homework and quizes well, you'll pass. THANK YOU!!!
Mr. Sow is a complete sweetheart. He is one of the best math teacher I had ever encountered in my life thus far. He is very detailed on the lectures, and he gives many examples. If you're confused, he'll explain it to you until you understand. I did not regret taking his class. And I HIGHLY recommend his class.
Math was absent from my life, after taking his class I am back on the horse and now in Pre- Algebra. The concepts he teaches and the way he teaches will make them stick in your head for the future math class. He is also an inspiration, I learned the way French do math! And it's easier than the U.S. method. Work hard during the semester :)
My gpa became low, he's hardest professor I've ever took. My final score was B and almost A but I got C! And also no extra credit offered!
He makes sure you understand the material. He makes you think and answer, even if you're wrong, until you find the answer yourself. Very good teacher.
One of the BEST professors at LACC. Professor Sow is such an amazing instructor. He has a lot of patience for his students and will help you pass as long as you do your part. Make sure to always be on time and to attend every time class meets, he's very strict about that.
Professor Sow is a really good professor. He goes strictly by the book. One important thing, though, he is a major troll. Honestly at times it was hard to tell when he was joking or when he was serious. We had about 3/4 quizes and 3 tests. He gives a study guide and the test is exactly like the study guide. Would take again.
I took stats with him in a 5 week course and it is tough ! He is a great professor but you have to manage your time, if you want to pass! He's a great guy and will help you and talk with you if you need any extra help.
Took Math 227 with him twice. The first time, I failed it because I was caught up with my other classes. The 2nd time, I took it with him in the winter semester. Very tough b/c class went by so fast. What I realized about him is that he lectures, but what grade you get is completely up to you. Has an accent too. Go to his office hrs for more help.
be sure to do good from the first from the class. my final score was B but I got C on my class. Not recommend at all.
Professor Sow is a great teacher, but not the most lenient. If you plan to take his class, please make sure that attend class and keep up with the home work.
No extra credit offered, completely dropped my GPA and gives way too much homework. Goes over chapters way too fast, and very sarcastic...I do not recommending taking this professor if your not the best at math. Biggest regret taking this class with this professor.
Professor Sow, is a really good teacher. His lectures are not boring at all he gets you really focus on his math teaching. I took Math 112 with him, after years of not taking math i found it so easy with him. The test are easy because he gives you a study guide. And the test is all from the study guide, if you have any question he will help you.
if you really take the time to study and complete the homework, really review his study guides and pay attention in lecture there is no way for you to fail. A very clear professor who respects students. Sense of humor is not ROTFL humor but he will make you chuckle. he made learning setting comfortable.
Professor Sow is a really good professor. He goes strictly by the book. One important thing, though, he is a major troll.
If you want to pass STATS, take his class. buy the book, do the hw and study the study guide.
Very professional and good professor. He is direct to the point and will explain the topics well. Also, he is willing to answer questions, and teach his student different Math tips and techniques that they can apply in everyday life or in their classes. He is very patient and lenient to his students. Make sure to come on class on time.
His lectures are boring and all over the place. Hell yell out hello? Hello? until students respond. Very annoying. Homework, quizes, and tests are all on mymathlab so all the questions go by the book not by his lectures. So essentially his lectures are useless regards to grading. Yet he takes attendence every day. Take another professor
he is very strict gives a lot f homework he moves fast but if you are confused and need the topic to be explained better he doesn't mind but you have to ask also he gives study guides for the test and yes homework is necessary. Don't expect to leave before the scheduled time it wont happen also he never misses a class.
He is a great teacher. His lectures can be boring sometimes but he knows his stuff. Ask lots of questions, do the homework and be in class.
Good professor awesome dude
AMAZING TEACHER WITH great sense of humor, wise and likes students who work hard
His accent makes it very hard to understand what he is saying. Fast paced
Honestly, he is a great professor and he is very nice. Several things to know: He's not an easy A. BUT He is really nice. ALWAYS DO HOMEWORK & DON'T PROCRASTINATE. You will be sorry! His homework's are online based with a due date. Get ready to form a study group or else you will be lost. Attendance is KEY!! Pretty much homework&attendance.
I have taken him for Math 110,167 & lastly 227. He is a great professor if you are a student who really struggles with math & I mean really struggle, take him. What is great about him is that he gives you a study guide for the tests. If you practice the study guide multiple times I assure you, you will pass the tests with A's/B's & even the class.
Heavy on proofs. I have come to appreciate his approach as many teachers will go through formulas but not explain WHY. Go to office hours and do HW 2X, yes it's a lot of work but if you're in calculus you're done fkin around. He is always tired but I think he has some issues with an injury. gives study guide for each test. good guy.
At all cost, please avoid Professor Sow. He goes way too fast in class and barely leaves any room to breathe and take in what youre seeing. Sow has a thick accent so it makes it hard to understand him at times. The most horrible thing about him is that he requires you to purchase a MyMathLab account for $80.
Great professor if you work hard you will pass Mr Sow fair I am pleased with my experience taking he's class he was a great guy that wants the best for his students he always greets his students and smile I definitely would recommend a student to take him
I took Prof Sow during summer 2020 also & it was not that bad. He did post a lot of lectures, most of them more than an hour long and his handwriting is barely legible. He is funny and will help you out if you have any questions. He also doesnt care about showing work that much , more so that you understand what youre looking at
He's not great at lecturing but you can teach yourself through the textbook. He gives study guides before each test that are almost identical to the actual test so if you study those well you will pass.
Professor Sow prerecords his lectures and everything is available on Canvas from day 1. An 88% is an A, so he is pretty generous. Drops lowest quiz grades. He doesn't grade homework until the last day of the term, so don't procrastinate! He is always present for office hours and is more than happy to help. Great instructor.
Took his class in the summer of 2019. It is easy to follow along with his lectures and he is very welcoming and tries his best to answer any questions. He is very caring and cares a lot about his students. This class was not too challenging as he provided clear examples of what he was looking for.
Mr. Sow is the real deal. Do not procrastinate, you will fail. Do HW in advance. Form study groups right away! Exams every week. Winter term was crazy fast speed. He will be generous if you show him all ur sweat. This was a full month of legit hard work, outside study groups, and sleepless nights! 350+ exercises, he will get the cube root out of u!
Mr. Sow is amazing. He's funny and he makes you work for your grade. If you actually meet with him, he will work with you to help you get the answer. If you are interested in getting into Math or Physics, I highly suggest that you take his class. He will help prepare you for what is expected in a 4 year college.
I love this professor this man makes it impossible for you to fail his class. His study guides prepare you for his tests and although his homework load is pretty heavy I would 100% take his class again in a heart beat. If you're looking for a professor who cares about their job you've come to the right guy.
Professor Sow is one of the funniest teachers on campus, but the students rarely notice. He has a very deep understanding of the subject and an easygoing nature. A great choice for any math class. I wish he were clearer on grading criteria. I dropped the class because I thought I would fail, but other students got to drop tests.
Professor Sow was my statistics teacher, and let me just say, it was AMAZING! Professor Sow is absolutely hilarious, his class is very engaging, all homework is due at the end of the class, and the class made me feel more welcome to LACC! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HIS CLASS AND I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE TAKE HIM!!! Trust me, you will enjoy it!!
He is just amazing. The best math teacher I have ever had. His lectures are very organized and easy to understand .You never get stressed out at his class and the tests are very easy forward. He is very patient and gives a lot of time to take his tests. Participation matters.
Professor Sow was amazing and I have a long history of being terrible at math. However, from the start, he really does his best to get you in the right mindset which is something I lacked when I was younger and taking math classes in HS. I saw a negative post about his accent, there's really no excuse for that because you can adapt to it.
Hands down the most unaccessible unorganized prof Ive taken in my academic career. It does seem like he cares about his students but that doesnt translate to a quality learning experience. Tests are just like the study guides and theyre all examples from the book. Dont expect help on those problems either as he'll direct you back to the textbook.
The lectures are based on the textbook. He is a kind professor who cares about his students. A lot of extra credit! Grade is based on homework, but mainly exams (up to 2 can be dropped). Study guide is identical to the test. He tells you exactly how the questions should be solved. I didnt understand much in the beginning, and ended up with a 95%.
the teacher is kind and very generous with grading in both the exams and final grade. i had a mid seventy and still ended up with an a after extra credit. there are not that much homework in the beginning. gets tedious later into the semester. you can get the textbook for free online.
Professor Sow is not a bad professor, but I found his exams to be extremely difficult.
He has a specific mindset you need to understand, he casually gives you a 0 on a test question for missing redundant work (i.e not adding lim ->0 every time), and tests make up 90% of your grade, so hes okay with himself nuking your grade for missing redundant work. The pros is that he drops tests. 2 or 3 can be dropped which really surprised me.
I took this class over the summer and didn't expect to do as well as I did. If you show up to class everyday and participate in the lectures you will do well. Be prepared to take a lot of notes but you will use all of them for your homework, quizzes, and tests. This class can be very intimidating but the homework and notes help A LOT for the tests!
Great professor! Lectures are clear and thorough, he'll answer all questions. He wants you to learn and pass the class. A fair and understanding guy.
This class is very intensive in terms of work quantity, but the professor is lenient enough with deadlines for the assignments as long as you get them done. However, the professor's online presence is very minimal so it is essential to attend and participate in the lectures since there isn't many resources aside from the textbook to help.
This is not a good class for students learning material for the first time. He has a good sense of humor and will enjoy him if you already took calc in HS. He teaches directly off the book & looking online for help. If you're ok teaching yourself go ahead and take this class. He does give extra credit for getting tutoring help.
I took him during summer and he is very nice. tries his best during the class, explains very well and is very funny. AMAZING PROFESSOR :) must take! preferably during fall/spring
good professor, gives extra credit & funny. BUT if u take his class online PARTICIPATION MATTERS. if you don't participate and ask a question he will put you in the spot. U need the book but you can get it online free. hw is easy since you can redo it as many times needed. 3 test and 1 final. Test are difficult and cameras must be on during test.
good professor but test are worth too much. can be exhausting to keep up if you are doing summer classes. Textbook is a must. Camera on, and have to participate because he treats you better if you participate. The last week of class was rushed and could not learn anything which made the test extremely difficult
Imma be honest. He is a good professor but i dont like the way the grading system worked. Test#1 and the finals determine ur final grade. Score good on those and it is an easy A. Textbook needed(but can get it online for free). Funny but sarcastic teacher. Particpation matters, he pays attention and remembers those who participate.
Overall a very positive experience. He is very tolerant of late work as long as it is done eventually. The key to doing well is participating (he loves students who speak), studying hard for tests (they have the most weight) but it is not a difficult class to do well in. Ultimately, he wants you to succeed and explains the material clearly.
The material itself isn't that bad though your comprehension of it does not matter as it's the exams that determine your grade. The professor certainly can play favorites to those who participate so if you take his class, participate the most you can for extra credit.
I gave up on math since highschool. Professor Sow gives you study guidelines to prep quizzes and final which made them super easy to pass. He is very caring for the students and the grades. He actually helps you succeed in the class! You won't regret taking his class.
TAKEEE HIMM my favorite math teacher! He barely has any quizzes and His quizzes are easy to pass and he always gives a study guide to know what type of questions will on be there. He always makes sure his students are understanding and will always encourage participation. He will not judge you if you get the wrong answers and explain step by step.
This prof wants you engaged - participate and take notes, and you'll nail the tests. Homework helps a ton too. For extra study help, try unstuck study alongside the free textbook. An overall positive experience if you put in the work.
Show up to class every day if you can. Participate. Exams are entirely based on use of technology & Statcrunch/Statdisk (Statistics website), so make sure to pay attention to Tech Tips portion in textbook and lecture. Unit exams were easy, but Final was tricky, make sure to thoroughly review Final Exam Review Lecture and you can get an A!
Professor Sow was the best math professor I ever had. So many of his concepts have stuck in my head and he is more of a mathematic philosopher than a straight math teacher. Here is to you Professor Sow- you remain one of my all time favorite teachers.
Attendance is important and also participation. Participate for extra points. Exams are multiple choice and homework for each chapter --> Due at end of semester. Lecture was 3.5 hrs w/ no break sometimes (or short 5-10 min break) and extended lecture b/w 5-10 mins everyday and even 30 mins once. Absolutely not for me again. Nice and caring overall.
He is very negligent with recording his lectures. During lectures, instead of teaching us concepts at a harder level, using a problem from the textbook with no solution (there are many such problems in the textbook), he uses pre-solved examples from the textbook that we can refer to on our own. So what is the point of him being there?
Professor Sow genuinely wants students to succeed, and will take time during lecture to make sure people understand the concepts he's teaching. He gives and goes over study guides to be sure you are familiar with what you'll be tested on, and is patient and kind when answering questions. This was my last math class or I'd be sure to get him again.
Professor Sow is a caring professor. He took time to explain concepts thoroughly in lectures, and was receptive to students asking questions. Participation is key, and was always encouraged in class. Before every exam he not only posted study guides, but also took the time to review them in class. I would recommend his class for Calculus 262.
Professor Sow is very caring. He explains well and wants students to engage. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. He uploads practice exams which are very similar to the actual exams. Very kind man and a great teacher.
Perfect, during lectures you have to be active, ask questions, checks with students to make sure we got everything, 4 exams, and the final, uploads study guides, do those, easy A, HW is due end of term, it's just calc 2, so obviously it's hard, exams you're on camera, solve like the book (literally, DO THE STUDY GUIDES). Take his class, TRUST ME
He talks a lot more than write, gives alot of examples verbally, not a math class where you just keep writing and writing. If you like that instead of numbers he write and teaches concept over numbers
Talks too much about concepts instead of focusing on numbers. Expects explanations over answers. hard to understand and keep up with when he's always pausing in the middle of every sentence to check class participation and writes down unnecessary points instead of just focusing on showing you how to do the math problem.
My favorite professor by far at LACC. Lectures are insightful and combine that with the homework and extra studying done outside class, you'll learn the fundamentals of calculus. The exams are 99% identical to the study guides given, so do them and you'll pass. Overall, a GREAT professor, and I'm sadden to not have him for any future math classes.
