Fun class if you're liberal, gives a review before each exam and if you are there for that you are pretty much guaranteed an A, just read what he goes over during review, gives five random one page in class essays that make up 25% of the final grade, you just have to be there and write something and you will get the points

Dr. H is one of the best teachers I have had here at UGA. If you must take a Geography, he is the one to take it with! If you go to class and study a little bit, you should have no problem pulling an "A!"

There is really no need to read the text, since the tests basically come from the lectures and the keywords in the book (and he goes over the words/ideas you need to know before the test). Had five random writing assignments to check attendance. He was a really funny, energetic, interesting guy who obviously loves his subject. Recommended.

Attendance is mandatory in that he gives random quizzes, but he doesn't actually call roll or anything. Notes/lectures are pretty straightforward and he goes over stuff before the tests. I was worried about this class at first since I added it late, but Heynen was very helpful. His lectures aren't too bad. He gives 5 random 1-pg writing assignments to check attendance - if you write anything, you'll get the points. He tells you almost exactly what will be on the test - study that and bold words and you're golden. He curves, too! :)

Heynen is very interested in what he teaches, so that is good but class tended to be boring and I felt that I could have learned the exact same material just by reading my book. He's a good teacher, it's the course I wouldn't recommend. It's too many concepts for an introductory course and the test questions are so broad, you don't know what they're referring to. One of those classes you think is so easy and then end up with a B.

Contrary to popular belief, this man's tests are NOT online. In fact, you they're so poorly written that you could be a social anthropologist yourself and still struggle to get an A. Dr. Heynen is awesome! His lectures can be a little over the place, but he is super funny and loves to teach geography! He doesn't require attendance, but you have random in-class assignments so it's worth it to go to class as they are a huge chunk of your grade. But I loved going to class because he is the best! Highly recommend.
