Very nice but just not good at teaching information.Don't take 201with her it is so unclear and when you ask what you need to study she says "everything". Tough grader but for no reason because this class should be easy.Leads EXTREMELY frustrating discussions about nothing of importance but does not realize it. Nice lady but not easy to learn from
she is a good teacher. i think she was pretty new to teaching but did a cool job. she brings real life experiences to the class, so she def knows what she is talking about. Reading is a must.
Class discussions are pretty useless but attendance is mandatory. Rambles on during discussions about irrelevant stuff. Notes are about 10% of whats on tests. She has an out of classroom assignment I did with a partner in class...they got a 100 and I failed. Basically impossible to learn from and makes class really difficult. Grades harshly, AVOID
DO NOT take Professor Laws if you have a choice. For such a low-level course (and a gened), she is unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. Grading on papers and assignments is okay, but her exams are absolute nightmares. She does not prepare you for exams at all. Class average was a D. She does not give curves and does not provide feedback. AVOID!
Worst professor ever. Avoid taking this class with her at all costs. Tests are confusing and she barely prepares you for them, plus she never gives study guides and expects you to know everything. Not helpful and attendance is mandatory and if you miss 4 classes or more you're dropped a letter grade.
Literally the worst teacher I've had at Towson. I'm usually a straight A student and I took this class to fulfill a core and she makes it so much harder than it needs to be! There are simple concepts in class and then the tests are all from the textbook and she makes it extremely hard to do well. Do NOT take it with her.
She made the class much harder than it needs to be. Sometimes she has an attitude. She isnt flexible at all. She does not adequately prepare students for her extremely difficult, and weird-formatted exams. She's a hard grader on papers. I really wish I didnt take this class with her!
By far the worse possible teacher you will ever have at Towson. She is a very unfair grader and expects you to know every little thing. Absolutely terrible
This professor is the worst professor I have ever had the displeasure of taking. She never explains anything on the powerpoints or in the book in depth. She literally reads the slides to the class. She's an extremely hard grader. Not worth it for a 201 basic class. The information she puts on slides is useless to the course. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Worst professor at Towson University. Never takes the time to explain concepts. Extremely hard grader. All exams are short answers. Very specific so if you miss a single word in your answer, you will get it completely wrong. If you do not need it for your major, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. If you do, take it with another professor.
Not the best class. She is a tough grader. All the tests are all short answer. No flow to information in this class. Reads off the power point. Not cool for a core class. A lot of common sense information.
Dr. Laws has her own way of doing things. She loves to give pointless assignments and she doesn't prepare you at all for tests. There are no study guides and she doesn't review. All tests are short answer and she takes parts from the textbook for tests. You have a useless sit visit paper and a book assignment which suck. Take another teacher.
Dr. Laws is a nice professor but she has ridiculous standards for a basic intro class. Her tests are incredibly difficult and all short answer/essay. The book was rarely discussed but it's on the tests. You do a pointless field assignment and a book report. If you can avoid taking this course with her, it will be in your GPA's best interest
Her assignments are pretty ridiculous. Site visit...for what? It was pointless and time consuming. 3 tests which are pretty difficult. Have to REALLY study. Doesn't "believe in multiple choice."Ask a question and she will tell you to look in the textbook. I read Chap 1 and never opened book again. Just make study guide out of ppts. DO NOT TAKE HER.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. YOU WILL FAIL. MISERABLY. WORST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD AT TOWSON. More than half of the class failed all the exams. She may seem nice, but she is definitely not. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
Avoid this professor! Like others have said, she gives out ridiculous tests that barely anyone can pass. All she does is lecture and reads straight off the powerpoint. She likes to call on people she thinks aren't paying attention, and talks down to us when we expect some clarification. Reading is essential. Any professor would be better!
All we do in this class is listen to other kids talk about their feelings. They will randomly raise theirs hands just to say something that is not relevant to the class, they are then praised for this random fact and encouraged to do more of it. The class is filled with irrelevant stories and no learning. Tests are hard.
VERY nice and fun lady, as well as a great lecturer, but the tests are really tough. There are 4 tests throughout the year. Other than this, very clear about what she wants. I recommend her if you're going to put in the hard work and study. Must complete assignments and attend class. Not too bad at all.
Overall Dr. Laws is a nice lady. Most of her lectures involve disscussion between students, which can be fun and also interesting. However, the test are killer (4 chapters at a time). All short answers. Her power points tell you the topics but don't define what any of it means. Make flash cards and study way in advanced and you should do okay.
She really isn't as bad as these reviews say. You do have to try in here class and she takes attendance. Theres 3 test and there all short answer but once you learn her style it isn't hard. You get papers and she grades them pretty easily if you follow the instructions. Study for the exams and go to class you'll be fine she's very nice.
Do not take this professor. She makes this core class way harder than it needs to be. Exams are all short answer and she is a hard grader. The class is easy common sense things and she tries to make it very hard. Also, if you skip class after 2 unexcused absences, she takes off 5 points. Don't take her if you're taking FMST 201 for an easy core.
Do not take this professor! She makes the class way harder than it should be. The exams are mostly short answer and if you do not answer a question the exact way she wants it, she takes off points. She is generally nice, but can be extremely condescending. She posts lectures, but they are missing most information. I would not take her again.
Prof. Laws is exactly what a college level professor is. She expects the most out of her students because we are all capable of doing the work. Lectures are informative and interactive. Attendance is mandatory bc there are pop quizzes. If you don't want to work for your grade & looking for an easy A then this isn't the professor for you.
I personally do not recommend this professor. She is truly a nice person but her tests are impossible. THEY ARE ALL SHORT ANSWER! NOT ONE MULTIPLE CHOICE! You have a group project in this class, a book report, 2 tests, 3 quizzes, and a final. Her final will be all short answers as well. You have a lot to memorize in this class. Not worth it!
She doesnt give study guides or review before exams and her exams are hard and very specific. Attendance is mandatory. The rubric tells everything youll do for the semester. Reading the textbook is necessary because she doesnt teach everything in class. I found her lectures boring. Its not too hard as long as you pay attention and do the work.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. It is a Family Resource class that is a guaranteed L with this professor. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because i thought the class and course material in general cannot be that hard(AND IT IS NOT) but she acts like it's rocket science. No reviews before her EXTREMELY impossible tests, very vague lectures.
She's a tough grader! But if you take good notes from each powerpoint then you will do good. Beware of knowledge check ins. Most are between 3-5 questions and if you get one wrong that can lower your grade. ALL TESTS ARE WRITTEN! But if you study the powerpoints you'll be fine
The test are mainly fill in the blank and short responses, only 1 or 2 multiple choice questions. No study guides. Her power point are mainly to remind her what to talk about so, if you skip class, you have no clue what the lecture was about. A full work load. She's very friendly as long as you go with her guidelines. Book can be helpful.
She seems really nice in class, you have to use the textbook because she doesn't go in depth about everything in class, her tests were really hard and she doesn't pinpoint things for us to study or give study guides. No extra credit. You HAVE to go to class.
I really like Dr. Laws. Her lectures are clear and if you study and pay attention in class you should do fine on tests. They are mostly short answer/ fill in the blank but if you know the information then youll be fine. Shes nice and willing to help.
Do not take her. She is horrible with instructions. HAd no clue what to do for the miserable group projects. Teaches from a slideshow. She also uses kahoots for pop quizzes. I think I would have learned more being taught by a wall.
She is such a tough grader. Save yourself from taking this class, not worth it. Only take this class if it is for your major and if so, please try with another professor.
I would definitely not recommend taking Professor Laws if you can avoid it. She teaches so much material and then tests on very specific details that are nearly impossible to remember. She plays many videos throughout the semester and also tests on those. There is a book report, group projects, online assignments, exams, and a final.
There are 3 exams, a group project, and a paper. She takes attendance every single class; she goes over so much content, but only tests on a little bit; she doesnt really review before the test except the final, which makes it hard to know what to study for; and the group project has very little instruction given, and the instructions are unclear.
This teacher is not worth the stress, she gave my group a failing grade but she didn't give out an outline. Very rude
Not clear about assignments and grading criteria. will not meet with you after class. Gets attitude if you ask questions/clarification. After she put a grade in, she will not go back and change it even if the grade was wrong.
I am not sure why Dr. Laws has so many bad reviews but I personally liked taking her. Lectures are clear and concise, and she answers all questions. The exams and quizzes are all questions from lecture so if you pay attention you should do well. There are knowledge check ins, quizzes/tests, a group project, book assignment, and final. ALL EASY.
I paid $89 for the textbook and we used it once. She also did not tell us when the second exam was and we all did not know about it until the day of the exam.
Dr. Laws is very funny, and her personality is enjoyable. As a professor, she's frustrating. Her assignment outlines are not clear 90% of the time, she is not easily accessible if you have a question, and she is a very harsh grader. If you want a good grade in this class, you are going to have to try very hard, and possibly kiss up a bit
Prof Laws although has a very likable personality, when it comes to coursework she is not playing. Exams are easy if you pay attention to details in lectures. Worst part about this course for me was the book assignment, she told us we would have to read a book in the beginning of the semester but told us which book a few weeks before the final!
I loved her class she is a great professor. So there is like a group project made up of there small assignments (you basically have your own family to take care of and have to think about budgets and resources and its all just power points THAT YOU DO NOT PRESENT) she read like if you participate . this class was a hybrid online class . a
Professor Laws is a great teacher! She lectures a lot and teaches a lot of information but everything on the test is clear because she teaches everything. The only downside is its a lot of info to study but its most common sense and easy to figure out but if you pay attention in class than it should be easy
She asks for oddly specific information that are barely gone over in class and do not appear in the book and then tests you on them, which so many people in my class got wrong on quizzes/tests. Concepts are easy to understand but tests are difficult due to not knowing what to study because the exams don't always mirror the textbook or slides.
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT take Laws. This woman is rude and has a terrible attitude. Shes super strict and doesnt care about her students at all. Her rubrics and instructions for assignment are extremely vague but she grades tediously. Shell mention a concept once is class and then put on an exam expecting us to know all about it. DO NOT TAKE HER
Dr. Laws is an amazing professor! She is really nice and funny, in FMST 201 you do not write any papers and there is only one group project split into three parts throughout the semester. There is a book assignment so make sure you read the book and her quizzes are done through cahoot which are also really easy if you use quizlet to study.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Doesn't reply to emails, doesn't care about her students, and likes to embarrass people who ask questions. Syllabus is way too strict (I had a death in the family and she gave me a 0 at the end of the semester for attendance). For someone who teaches family resources, you would think she'd have more sympathy.
I would recommend this professor only if you don't mind to much work. Her class is a hybrid so you don't have to come to class on Wednesdays just Mondays and Fridays. She's really approachable and nice and her tests are basically her lectures. You should read the textbook as a guide. The group project is in three parts and not that hard.
DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS IF YOU HAVE HER AS A PROFESSOR. She, not only lacks the ability to teach her students, but also is a terrible person in general. She does not care for anyone but herself and it is so clearly shown through how she treats and talks to people. You will regret your life if you take her class.
Dr. Laws is not a professor I would recommend anyone take. She just reads what's on the slides and never elaborates unless someone has a question. She doesn't seem like she wants to be there and puts minimal effort into her teaching. It is beyond me how she obtained the position she did. I had to take her class for a core and I'm just glad its over
Maybe because of corona she went nuts but theres no reason that i had so many assignments with this pandemic going on. Very inconsiderate!
I was scared taking her because of the other reviews, but honestly she is not that bad. She just doesn't take nonsense. You have to work for your grade. Little to no homework assignments, just make sure you study! Come to class as well, if not, you miss essential information. Office hours were a bit limiting, not as easy to reach her.
She's a little standoffish, but certainly cares and wants students to learn the material. The group project wasn't bad, just remember to do the hybrid assignments and honestly they aren't that bad. The only annoying thing is the Kahoot quiz every single week and also attendance is mandatory as well
I don't know why, but I kinda liked her. It's not that she's mean, she just doesn't like games or mediocrity. As long as you actually do the work, it shouldn't really be a problem. She doesn't even really give that much work in my opinion.
Will never take a class with her again, incredibly rude and unwilling to offer clarification despite all of her rubrics being vague. Almost never answers emails. Only good part of this class was not having to buy a textbook. Do not take a class with her if you want to actually learn.
Professor Laws is very straightforward with her lectures and you should take notes during every lecture. Some things she says will be on tests that are not in the PowerPoints so pay attention. You can tell she is very nice and caring of her students.
don't recommend. Her class was confusing, the assignments had very vague instructions, and she took forever to respond to emails so you are basically on your own.
I think the reviews for Dr. Laws are pretty harsh. I definitely agree some of her instructions are vague and she doesnt respond to emails which can be annoying with the class being online bc of COVID. Overall I really like her. Shes funny, caring, and straight to the point. She assigns one homework a week unless theres a project! Pretty standard
Class consists of just lectures and kahoots. Doesn't make the class interesting and it feels like sometimes she just gives busy work. She makes the class even harder than what it has to be. Literally gave my class a test retake, essay, and hybrid assignment all in the same week during a pandemic, which was all due the same week...
If u have a choice do not take her class. She's extremely rude and disrespectful to her students. If u ask a simple question she gets an attitude with you. Her grading is extremely confusing, even if you follow her directions to a T, you get points off and she never elaborates why. She never responds to emails and is not considerate at all.
Not communicative at all and grading criteria is too vague. Took her 2 days to answer my question about a paper that was due the next day. Mandatory attendance is just unfair since all her PowerPoints were copied and pasted from the textbook. Spent like 3-4 classes total watching videos or movies and tested on them. Unfair how heavy the tests were.
If you have the option to take someone else, do it. Otherwise, you can manage. She has an attitude all the time. She'll say "any questions" and if someone does she'll get mad. Camera on is mandatory and she'll kick u out otherwise. You HAVE to take notes during class because she'll say stuff that is on the test but not actually on the powerpoint.
She's not the worst, but she's not the best. Attendance is mandatory and you can't miss lectures, as most material during class is used in quizzes. Weekly hybrid assignment is pretty easy. 3-part group project throughout the semester so just hope you have reliable members. Doesn't respond to email and is very vague with instructions. It's bearable.
She can be very condescending in the way she answers questions, making you unwilling to ask questions. She will make it seem as though she is willing to answer any question but then have an attitude when you do ask, especially if (god forbid) it's in the syllabus. I wouldn't recommend her at all, but the class itself is bearable.
Makes you turn camera on and you have to attend every class or you get points taken off. Three part project that has vague instructions that were hard to understand. She will either respond to emails right away or not at all. Hybrids were not hard, felt more like busy work. Hard grader and will pick your paper apart if it isnt extremely specific.
I just finished my final for her family resources class and Ive never been more annoyed. We had a cumulative final and she didnt tell us a single thing we needed to study for. Overall she was a bad teacher. She got offended when people would call her out or ask questions about something. Topics were interesting, but she was the worst.
Professor Laws is honestly a terrible teacher. She NEVER replies to emails so if you have a question ask it during class, and good luck when you do because she will answer in the most condescending way and with attitude. The class is pretty easy but she is so unreliable. I don't recommend taking her. & the quizzes extremely hard.
This professor is a tough grader, almost like she doesn't want to pass you. During her lectures she expects you to take notes because she doesn't upload the pp's in its entirety. She does kahoot quizzes every week which counts towards your final grade so you have to get almost everything right. Her style of teaching is just overall horrible.
Professor Laws was not a very helpful teacher. She makes you take pop quizzes and the test are hard. She doesnt like to answer questions, but will quickly tell you to look in the syllabus. The class is bearable.
If you have the option to take some else, please do. She does not seem to care for her students and is not understanding. She grades harshly and does not give a good description of what she is asking for in terms of projects and papers.
This is the most disorganized and confusing course I have ever taken. Dr Laws is next to impossible to reach outside of class. She assigned a book assignment worth 75 points and didn't tell us what book we needed to get until a week before the assignment was due. Also, DO NOT miss any lectures, even if you have a valid reason she will take points.
Professor Laws is the least kind and professional educator I have had. It is like she wants students to fail. She is not accessible outside of class, nor does she care to listen during lecture. She is a very tough grader, with no considerations, regardless the circumstances. I would not take a class with her again. I wish I was able to enjoy this.
I do not understand the bad reviews about Prof. Laws. Her class is pretty straight-foward and as long as you take notes and study for quizzes and exams you'll be fine. There is a 3 part group project that could make or break your grade, as well as a book assignment. Just show up, pay attention, study the material and you will be fine.
I do not get why Dr. Laws is so poorly reviewed. I personally love her class. FMST is an interesting topic and of course, requires studying. Dr. Laws posts all her powerpoints on BB and does Kahoots every Monday to test your knowledge on a chapter (these are graded though). If you study, you should be fine! The concepts are not hard to grasp.
Class is self explanatory. Make sure to take really good notes, study for quizzes and exams, then you'll be fine. There is a 3 part group project, as well as a book assignment. Show up to class, pay attention, study the material, don't be afraid to ask questions during class and you will be fine. The stuff she says in class, will be on test/quizes.
If you want your GPA to drop, be my guest and take her class. I have all As and when it comes to this class its the worse! She is so unorganized. She uploads WRONG quizzes and hybrid assignments with no due date extensions. Good luck getting a reply from her through email. 2 major exams, group project, and a book assignment.
This is by far the my hardest class and it isn't even my major. She gives wayyy too many assignments for a class where the content is pretty simple. The exams are really hard because you have no idea what to study for and they aren't multiple choice. If you wanna take this class stay away from this professor.
This class is pretty straightforward but I don't recommend this professor
This class was difficult for literally no reason, given how straightforward the content is. If you're going to take this class, take another professor
Interesting class, I just wish I took another professor. It would of been more enjoyable.
hate this class entirely. don't ever forget to submit an assignment because she'll give you a zero regardless of your reasoning. I'm a freshman who's new to blackboard and had trouble with an assignment and her only response was "well all your other classmates were able to do it", hated her so much, take anyone else if you can
I do not recommend this teacher, her test never matches the PowerPoint you have to remember things she said from previous classes, and there is no study guide.
Dr. Laws makes it very hard to reach her. She made two mistakes this semester with my grades that wouldn't have gotten fixed if I hadn't said anything. Her assignments are insanely vague. Expect quizzes on every chapter every week. If you aren't good with remembering individual definitions don't take this class. Overall, avoid her class.
This semester just ended and I tried my best not to come on here and give her a bad rating but she's the most miserable teacher ever , PLEASE AVOIDD!!
Run while you can
This class was basically memorization of your notes for the test. If you do not have a good memory, then this class is not for you. But it is pretty straightforward because she follows her syllabus.
This class was the most difficult class ever she made everything more complicated than it had to be she made errors but doesnt own up to them. Things couldve been done differently but werent if you take this class take another teacher
REALLY HARD TO REACH, GIVES NUMEROUS ASSIGNMENTS THAT ARE MANDATORY BUT YOU DON'T EVEN RECEIVE A GRADE FOR THEM, EXTRA CREDIT IS A BIG NO.
This is your sign to steer clear of this awful professor! I hate to be utterly rude but this is only reality. Nikita Laws is very uneducated on the subject she is teaching. She uses improper english and uses copied Powerpoints to teach her students. On top of her pirated teaching material - she grades very harshly without reason. Avoid Prof. Laws!
in my opinion, ms. laws got a bad rap. she is not a horrible teacher and she isn't mean. as long as you come to class, pay attention, study, and actually do the work on time, you will pass this class. I feel like this class is a good example of a college level class.
I would try to avoid this professor and class. She is very hard to reach, grades hard, and sometimes isn't correct so you have to go through all your graded work to make sure you get all the points you deserve. All her exams and most quizzes are on paper and there are some multiple-choice, and mostly fill in the blank. Just don't take this class.
The class had some group projects that were very easy, 5 question Kahoot quizzes that were easy if you just review your notes before each class, and quizzes. It is an easy class as long as you take good notes and pay attention.
Don't get me wrong she teaches well but the work load is too much. My class was hybrid so the day we didn't have class we had homework to do. It wasn't so clear, so you will need to communicate with your classmates, they would help a lot. Upon all the home work she gave us this very big book to read, which I found unnecessary.
A lot of people hate on her but in reality if you actually do the work, you'll do great. There is one group project worked on throughout the year with some quizzes and 3 exams. The class is mainly memorization and COMMON SENSE!
DO NOT TAKE!!!!!
Ms. Laws doesnt know how to reach, she says shes a counselor but rolls her eyes when you communicate with her as if shes fed up with you. She doesnt grade on understanding but specifics as if youre not there to learn but to memorize. If you enjoy hypocrisy, this is the class for you, otherwise please avoid because she doesnt care
This class is unreasonably hard for no reason. I studied a lot for this class and I barely held a B. There are kahoot quizzes that are worth a good chunk of your grade and she gives a lot of work. She's nice, but her class is a lot. If you want a good grade and a good professor for FMST 201, then DO NOT take this class.
This teacher made everything more difficult than it had to be. She is a tough grader and you most likely wont be satisfied with the grade you receive at the end of the semester. She claims her instructions are clear but they arent and she doesnt care about her students. run while you can.
This teacher should find a new profession for she is failing at this profession. I got a D and I'm still above average.
I wish I had read the reviews before taking this course. Don't make my mistake, Run.
She's not rude or anything but she does NOT try to help students. If you ask a question she'll just repeat it and not clarify what she means. Even if the whole class was failing she'll basically say its the classes fault and think she's doing everything right. Such an easy class should not be so difficult, I barely maintained a C-. Never again.
The class environment itself isn't bad BUT it does definitely put a mental strain on you because there is a lot of reading and memorization. Sometimes you don't even know what to study because there is so much. BEWARE quiz's every week. She goes based off her slides. Best tip I can give is record the class and then take notes because she talks more
Dr. Laws assigns an unholy amount of work and doesn't grade anything in a timely matter. Her lectures aren't the worse but it's clear she could do more to make them more interactive. She is also a very tough grader. She also isn't great at answering questions or concerns from students. Plus, she announces everything last minute. A class to avoid.
She is a hard grader and disorganized. If you don't have to take her please DO NOT, I'm taking this class for a core req and I should've just taken something else. You actually need the textbook, she tells about assignments last minute, and she gets defensive when SHES in the wrong. Please stay away and save your GPA.
She did not seem like she knew what she was doing, the class was very easy though so if you want an easy A i'd recommend this class. It was a hybrid course yet she wouldn't respond to any emails, and she barely put in grades so you don't know your grade until the end of the semester
I liked Dr.Laws and the fact that she explains all of the content in her powerpoints. If you don't attend class you will fail! The syllabus is accurate and she is a pretty fair grader. This course is test and mini quiz heavy.
Professor Laws gets a lot of hate but in my opinion its the course. I had some difficulties figuring out grading criteria and not everything was super clear but honestly she's hilarious and is super caring. Just be a good student and do the work this course is content heavy so take notes on all the lectures and listen to what she says during them
As long as you read the book, take notes, come to class, do the kahoots you will be fine. I will say I wish classes were longer tho but Laws is a good professor, shes not the best but she pushes students to actually work hard. She does not deserve such low scores! She just demands more effort and if you do apply yourself, you will pass.
Biggest issue with this class was timing between larger assignments. She didn't space out larger assignments most of the time making it difficult to prepare. Attendance is a MUST or you can lose points. Did not respond to emails in a timely manner most of the time either.
Run... do yourself a favor and save that GPA. I chose a pass grade option for this class just to save my 4.0. Very harsh and never responds to email. Quizzes on kahoot, press a wrong answer and there goes a point. In class exams, quizzes, and paper. Stay away :)
I took this class thinking that it would be a good class and teach me how to prepare for the future. She is a very harsh grader, I turned in a project two days before it was due and she gave me a zero. I emailed her and she never got back. Do not take this class if you want to save your grade. It is not worth it even for a core, take another!
She was a very nice person, but the class was very difficult and she is a hard grader. I did do well in the class, if you show up, do the work, and some studying outside of class you'll do fine, but she is still a tough grader.
She is super nice person, but in general a hard grader. hard test. and not a great teacher. I was taking this class just to get credits and it ended up being my lowest grade :/
I don't see any review on this part but she gives 15 points for participation and that includes your hybrid assignments. If you are more than 15 minutes late, she takes away 5, if you miss a day, that's 5 too, if you are on your phone that's 5, and she does not think that a doctors appt is an excused absence. which is insane to say the least (1/2)
Where can I start. How did I have a better grade in my calc and cs class than in this BS of a course. She made a 200 class feel like a 400 level class. I had to lie and get a withdrawal cause my C became a F in the last days before finals. If you miss class, your done. The tests are written and multiple choice. Never take this class. Choose peace.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!, quizzes/Kahoots every Monday. this teacher turned this easy class hard. was hybrid and so those assignments weren't graded until the end of the course so you don't know your actual grade until finals. the test are hand written, and multiple-choice, no study guide. Don't take it if you don't want your GPA to go down!!
I would have have passed her class if she had given me the points for the days I missed mind you those days I had given her a doctors note and here's the real kicker, I was in the hospital for a kidney infection and was in fact septic. I almost lost my life yet informed me that she was not going to give me the points for those days missed.
I'm sure she's a decent person outside of the classroom but what an unbearable teacher. She's quick to make passive-aggressive remarks and faces or just says it abruptly out loud. DO NOT miss your hybrid assignments or even miss a couple days of class or you will get a 0 for participation.
A tough grader that has you work on async assignments every Wednesday, has pop up kahoot quizzes and makes attendance mandatory. She's a tough grader on every assignment and has an attitude.
Do not take her. She's actually a horrible professor and doesn't accurately grade at all. If there are any other professors available take them instead. She doesn't actually teach, all she does is read from a power point and give discussion board hw assignments. If you want to pass you have to do all the work and teach your self. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She hands out random grades. Doesn't grade anything until day before final. Talks too fast during lecture and has an attitude when asked to repeat. She will make it known she does not like you. Cares about her appearance more than her teaching. If you were looking for an easy A, don't take her.
Prof. Laws seems very genuine but direct in my opinion. She doesn't like to repeat or reiterate. She definitely makes the class harder than what it is. Lectures provide good notes for exams. Come to class and pay attention! Exams surprisingly aren't hard but, she is a very tough grader smh. Do not underestimate this class, it will sneak up on you!
stay away
Overloads students with assignments. Grades strictly on essay questions. Expectations are too high from students. Expects you to remember small details in assigned readings compared to key concepts and deducts points from your final grade for questions asked in class. Not worth the stress. I would not recommend taking her class.
I would not take this professor. Not accessible for help, takes MONTHS to grade assignments. Doesn't help with studying for exams then puts the most random questions that we covered for 30 seconds. Easy class was made difficult because of a professor who seemed like they only cared about the paycheck.
The teaching style of Dr.Laws is good, but she is an insanely harsh grader, and participation is mandatory. I took her this semester and completed every assignment, but I never spoke in class, and now I have a D.For it being a random core, she makes it the most difficult to pass. Choose the other lady! because i know i learned my lesson.
She was uptight during class and had us do in class activities a lot (they were fun don't get me wrong). It's clear that she cares about teaching well, but it seems like she is a bit reluctant about opening herself up to students.
Not the best experience with this professor. Strict attendance policy, tough grading, and exams that don't align well with what's covered. However, unstuck study proved helpful for study prep when the tests felt unpredictable.
10/10 would never take a class she teaches again. she refused to grade any assignments until months later, was never specific about what was on exams overall just not the best professor. lectures were boring, had a few group projects that she didn't grade until the end of the semester. the course itself was nice but don't take her.
Do you want your GPA to drop? Do you want a professor with a terrible attitude? Do you want a professor that blames you for failing when it was totally her fault? Do you want weekly ungraded work? Well Nikita Laws is the right professor for you!!! She's perfectly terrible:)
Professor Laws was honestly a great professor, just very straightforward, so she might seem rude. The class is very lecture heavy, but as long as you pay attention in class and study the slides beforehand, the exams aren't hard. She does take a while to grade assignments, but if you follow the rubric, you'll be fine.
warning u now do not take
Try and get anyone but her, nice at first but in the middle of the semester she threw a heavy amount of work at us, and gave so much attitude, arrived late every class (15 min on exam day). Online work on Fridays. Exams are NOT what she covers, like completely different. First exam was ok, almost everyone bombed the second. Cumulative final.
When I looked at these ratings, I was nervous to take her class. Ms Law is not bad, she was pretty chill, there was a little attitude but nothing too serious. All you had to do was pay attention and take notes, the exams and quizzes were light work. She does give out weekly assignments which can get overwhelming overlapping with her other stuff.
She was good at the start i missed one class where of course i missed an class assignment, went to ask if i can still do it beacuse i wasnt in class she smiled and said no. does group assignments when people stilll dont do there half of there work so most the time unless get a good group you'l be doing the prject yourself. She doesnt answer emails.
she assigns work every Friday. there is a text book you have to buy. There are 3 group projects. she's also a harsh grader and has bad attitude. would not take again
