this is a pretty easy class compared to others. she is very helpful and nice. take her and dont miss a day bc econ is a hard subject.

She is easily distracted and loses her train of thought! She doesn't seem to know the material very well so ask you neighbor for help instead. She writes notes on the board, gives out handouts, and tells you what is going to be on the objective tests. Overall very easy. I got a B. There is also one major group presentation, but its simple.
this was the most easy microbiology class. Her reviews were very helpfull and made an easy A..... but i heard her lab is not easy
I had her Microbiology Fall 2006. She tells you exactly what to study for the test. The class isnt overly challenging. She waters down the chapters to make it easy for the students. Most chapters she'll give you handouts to use for studying. Oh, and she's nice to look at :)
Took her Fall 06 for Micro.People say she's hard but she really isnt. She tells you exactly what to study. For her lab if you do well on the lab write-ups she will curve your grade big time. Show interest and ask questions and she'll be impressed. I made an A.
I liked this teacher...(1)because she always believes in you, (2)she is hot, (3)she will help you as much as you need, (4)she gives extra credit...many others, but hopefully you will find out for yourself.
Nikki is an amazing mirco teacher. I had her for lab, and she knows her stuff. If she can't answer the question, she's not affraid to say she doesn't know, but will do what she can to help you figure it out! Come to her when you need help,and she's there for you. She's tough, but she tells you what to expect. There's no reason not to pass!
I enjoyed her class very much. She is very helpful and loves her job. She cares about her students, especially if she knows the student is trying. I will truly miss her and I would recommend her to any of my friends!
If you are a taking a non-major biology class, she will make you feel stupid for not knowing things. Very scatterbrained, always has to go back to her office because she forgets stuff. Show up to class and take notes and StUDY! The information she gives is great and helpful; Just keep up with her and make sure she doesn't lose your papers.
Nikki Goines is a horrible professor. Whenever a student needs help, she can't help because half the time, she doesn't even know what she is talking about. Her class is basically a 'teach yourself' kind of class. Her tests are ridiculous. She expects you to know way too much information. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. Take Adams! He's amazing.

Bio 1408, non majors. I am somewhat educated in basic sciences having completed science courses before. I took this course as a science credit to transfer to UTA. She is not hard, she seems to not know the material very well. One day she says one thing, the next she contradicts herself. You wanna know why people hate science? Take her course..
I'm fairly convinced ths must be her first year teaching. Her tests are not well put together, and she tests on material not thoroughly covered. It almost feels like she expects us to know the material by starig at her for an hour and twenty minutes a day. The class started strong, but as the important grades started up, it all went down hill.

Gives very shallow notes. Her exam questions are not clear. when asked a question in class she says she'll find out the answer and never gets back to it in future. very aloof.
She puts new info on the power point without further detail as to what it means so I feel like much of the class is self taught. All the test questions are only from the power point so if you study that, you can make an A. If you truly want to comprehend the info, dont take the class. She does not know how to teach. She will literally take a section of the book and type exactly what it says in the book onto the powerpoint. She then reads the power point and if you ask her a question about something else she won't know what it means. She gives you homework like it's highschool and she is an all around dumb teacher sadly.
Awful teacher. Not sure how she keeps her job. She brought her child to class one day. Two other days she was a no show - very inconsi-derate. I agree with others that she shows favoritism. She is disorganized and has poor teaching skills. Avoid her at all costs.
I read her ratings on here prior to taking her class but it was the only Micro class with seats available. Hoping that the people leaving these comments were just slackers, I took her class only to find out that I will NEVER doubt ratemyprofessors.com again. I worked HARD but she is disorganized. I called her out on two of my exams being misgraded.
Very helpful. Understands that life happens and is willing to work with her students. If I had to I would take her class over again but I got an A. Tests are easy they are straight from her power points no curve balls. Questions are straight forward. Little use of my text book. Lab reports are due every class pretty much but very easy.

Ms. Giones is an awesome teacher. She helps with any qusetion you have. is willing stay after to help you. and her labs are very hands on and informative. overall she is a great teacher and i would take her again if i had too.
how did she graduate college herself? she's always late, she only likes the males in the class, has favorites, screws up on grading everything!!! you can't talk to her or she'll look at you like you're special ed, she can't answer ?'s we asked in class, she knows NOTHING AT ALL! it's a waste of time and money, and possibly your GPA.

Teacher is very straight forward and clear all. Tests are multiple choice and straight from her notes. Very helpful and understanding. What it comes down to I guess is your own experience with Professor Goines but I stand behind her as a great professor.
Doesn't teach you anything. I took Dr. Vu's lecture and she was always behind in lab. Very unsatisfied! Do not take her!
She was my lab prof for anatomy. She was extremely hard, expected alot from you. Tests were very hard, marks answer wrong for misspelling. Expects you to know every inch of the body and will test. Never has multiple choice. Gives no extra credit.

She tests over material that is not thoroughly covered in class, so you better make sure you know her notes forward and backward. She shows favortism to the people who act like they are interested in what she is teaching about. She gave extra credit only once in Micro, but in A&P lab she gave it more.
I thought she was a great professor. She is tough, but it's only to make you apply yourself more. Test easy as long as you read over the notes from class. I took her for lab too and that was a little harder. She is very helpful though if you show interest.

This teacher was extremely horrible.I had her for Lec and Lab. She wasn't very much help when it came to solving your unknown and would only help you if you already knew what you were doing. I have to retake this class b/c of her. If you have her you MUST STUDY for the test especially the lab practicals.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PUT INTO THIS CLASS. Go to class, take notes, study the notes, and you will pass. Don't need a textbook for Microbiology class. All you need are the notes. Don't go to class and don't study, then yes you won't pass. Easy A if you apply yourself and go to class.
this instructor is motivated & HAS the skilLs of a GREAT professor. She teaches in a way which delivers the knowledge & information;then takes a second opportunity to clarify with the student the text & info. You must take notes, read & research but you will pass this class & the teacher is helpful to this process
My whole experience was just one big shrug. Easy but only if you take notes and study. DO NOT buy the book. Don't need it =) she's nice but I just don't like Biology so the whole class was pretty painful. WARNING: If you HATE group projects as much as I do then RUN from this professor. If you like them well then have at it =)
WORST teacher i've ever had. which says a lot b/c i already have my B.S and going back to school for nursing(so i've had many profs). if you're looking for a "teach-yourself-b/c-she-doesn't-teach-but-gives-hard-exams-class" then she's the perfect prof to take it from. it's sad when you're doing better in Dr Vu's lecture class than the lab w/her. :(
If ur in her micro class then maybe she is diff, but in A&P she absolutely sucks! You teach yourself everything and if she misses a day then guess what, the material that was suppose to be went over that day is still on the test and you will have to figure out what to study and what will be asked! She lecs for like 15 min and u do the rest!
He does not know HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR GRADE! I went to her after every assignment with a dispute because the grades were counted wrong. she doesn't know high school even middle school math!
Mrs. Goines is a very fun teacher. She knows her stuff and I will be taking her for Genetics next semester. No need to buy the book, everything comes from her powerpoints. No homework, 1 term paper or group project, and 4 tests. She makes biology interesting, even if you're not interested in it at all.
Microbiology Lecture is very straight forward, yet she is very opaque in directions. Unorganized. Form of lecture is using Powerpoint AT ALL TIMES. I studied, recieved an A. Do your work & study; you'll do great.
She shows way too much favortism and is very unclear about what she wants from her students. She puts a lot of trick questions in her exams, so you have to read them VERY carefully. I would not take her again.

She is horrible. Brings her kids to class. Review consists of her saying "study your notes", and the test questions dont even come from there. Doesnt show to class when she has catch up work in another class. If you just need a credit and dont care about the grade then she's ok... just don't expect to learn anything.
Great teacher!! If it's something you don't understand she will help, even if it's outside of class time. She knows her stuff and is very calm and patient with everyone!! I definitely recommend anyone to take her! Tests straight from her notes for lecture and for lab just read over each exercise before class and you'll do great!!

Never thought I would be as interested in this subject until taking her class...she tells u to study all notes but gives lots of easy questions to help your grade. wish she liked chemistry so i cld take her again!
Just reads off of her powerpoints without clear explanation. She grades assignments extremely late and has misplaced some of mine. The exams are suppose to be over her powerpoints... WRONG she adds things we havent been taught and the test questions are poorly written and ambiguous. I escaped with an A but BARELY, this class felt like a battle.
Her "lectures" consisted of her reading directly from the power points. I'm used to professors that engage their students & actually make the course fun by using analogies that make the material easier to comprehend. If you want an easy A, she's it. I'm just relieved I didn't have her for the lab section...my lab instructor was actually competent.
She is very helpful in lab and in lecture and really nice. Test are directly from the notes so you only fail if you dont study- you have to earn your grade. she made the class interesting and I very much enjoyed having her as a teacher!
She does not post any notes online and her lecture is her reading off a power point that she expects you to write down as she reads them. Her test are hard when they shouldn't be because she twists the questions to confuse you. When our class asked her why she does it she said "this is college and you should know your name in Spanish and English"?
DO NOT TAKE. Yes she seems nice but she picks and chooses her favorite class. She gave my class 100 question tests every test and gave the same exact class after ours a take home test. She gives extra credit and after you do the tests she sometimes decides not to use it after we already did it and turned it in. Only take her if you have to.

Had her for bio in 2010, decided to take her for micro bc I know she doesn't require book. If you study the notes from ppts you'll pass, plain & simple. Gives curves for her mistakes on tests...don't take for lab. We had 37 lab reports, a lot of work for a lab, and had to keep up with a list of bact we used each lab, it was annoying!
Great teacher i like that she uses videos for visual learners like myself. Very helpful and easy to talk to.If you attend class everyday then you should not have a problem with this instructor shes great!! We did have a group presentation project was not to fond of but prof. Goines was there by my side the whole way when issues arrived. great :)

I dont think i had hw all year except in lab, and she gave us a take home exam so that was cool. The only thing i didnt like was that i felt like she put stuff on the test that we never even looked at. I even confirmed it with other classmates that had perfect attendance. Aside from that, she's pretty chill.

I love Goines! She has a love and a passion for Biology that is extremely evident when she teaches. No homework except for a group project. 4 tests, one of which was a take-home. All were 100 questions, but everything is straight from her notes and powerpoints; super easy, you just have to study. Took time to answer questions and explain fully.
Sooooo much work! Lab reports and list of organisms were due every class! She's very clear on what she expects of you! 2 practicals (both are hard) unknown organism and unknown report isn't too bad! Grades hard! Very understanding with personal issues! An A is possible, but you're gonna work for it!

Goines is an amazing person and professor. Genetics is not an easy course and you need to study the powerpoints as well as what she says in class. Will review the day before the exam so ask questions. One presentation, four exams, two homework papers. No lab. There may be a day when she gives extra credit to those that attended class.

I LOVED Mrs. Goines. Im 100% sure shes the reason I passed. Gave us a couple extra credit opportunities. She wont leave you behind if youre trying. Take her! Bad reviews are probably students who didnt put in work. You have to study! Tests are straight from notes. She tells you exactly what you need to know to pass the tests. Also dont need a text!
Don't try it, choose another teacher, but if you want you can go ahead, but as for me, I hope and wish not to be in such a class again, she has no compassion for students, she has those she love to help. she does not make things easy for students, its like she want to prove to you that I don't care anyway.
I took her for lab and I loved her! She was so sweet. In her lab, know what she writes on the board and ask for help if you don't understand it. She req. lab reports BUT on the bright side, it helps with your overall grade if you do it. Easy grade there. The quizzes aren't bad if you read ahead. Dropped this class. Her lectures are disorganized, she is very soft spoken which makes her very hard to hear. Shows videos irrelevant to lecture material and treats students as if they should already know the information before taking her class. Not recommended.
Love Professor G. Such a caring teacher that knows what she's doing. Lectures are mainly power points, but goes into greater depth on the board. Notes are the key to passing test! 4 tests which one is a takehome!! Not an easy A but if you study your grades will reflect it! Would definitely take her again

Professor Goines is a professor you will never forget! She can totally relate to her students and she is so understanding. Her lecture exams are based off of powerpoints and lab practicals are based off of ALL experiments done so take lots of pictures and study as you go! Would recommend her to anyone needing to take Micro!
This professor is disorganized, rude, barely speaks above a whisper, and expects the class to already know the material. Her power points are all over the place and she is not a good lecturer. This professor's blackboard is unorganized and there are multiple sets of the same material. This professor doesn't answer any emails sent to her.
Beware this 'teacher.' Avoid her at all costs. She is not knowledgeable in her field, she can't even answer simple questions. The speaks very low. She is extremely disorganized, especially on blackboard. She has 4 sets of grades on BB, She takes her time grading, without a chance to see why you got that grade.
Mrs. Goines is amazing for Micro she actually loves her profession and is clear when it comes to assignments. Her labs are typically a lot of work, no free periods. There will be an experiment every day as well as a lab report due every lab. Only the lab book is required. Overall its somewhat challenging but an A in her class is easily obtained.
Professor Goines is a great instructor. She loves what she does and it shows. The material my be hard, but she makes sure you understand by going over it several times. She connects with her students. She wants you to do well. I would take her again and would recommend her to anyone who is willing to put in the work.
Mrs. Goines is a great professor. She is very passionate about teaching lab and makes sure you understand the lesson. Her class is not hard, she just expects you to follow the syllabus and participate in class. All the answers to the quizzes and test come from the lessons. Most quizzes are 5 questions or multiple choice. Study for lab practicals.
This professor is amazing. She's really compassionate about biology and she teaches it well. Her lecture is the key for success in this class. You must put in effort to recieve your grade. She's very organized and grades quickly on assignments. I recommend this professor to anyone who wants to learn.
She is an amazing Professor!!! I had her for lab and lecture. She gives you all the information you will need for all the tests and goes over what you should know. Many lab reports, but they are easy once you understand what she wants. There is a lot of information in the lectures, but she will break it down so it is easy to understand. Amazing!!!

Pop quiz weekly, over previous lab AND labs youre doing that day so BE PREPARED. 2 lab practicals, easy if you study. Labs are fun, one of my favorite classes. She is soft spoken so sit upfront if you can. Lab manual A MUST! Lots of lab reports to type. Inconsistency with grading was biggest complaint in my class. Unknown was fun! Slow grader.

Her class was ok and lectures were interesting. I just wish she had more assignments, only 4 tests and 2 homeworks so if you fail the test you're screwed.
At first I was very doubtful if I should have dropped her class because the quizes in lab were kicking my butt but do your lab reports correct and do good on your 2 practicals you'll pass! For lecture, everything was great! She answered questions before the test, everything from the powerpoints will be on the test. no extra credit though
Prof Goines is the best professor I have ever had. She is super inspirational and encouraging. I have dropped Biology twice and even when I took her Biology class, I was still very doubtful but I ended up with a 96.3%. She will go over and over the material until you understand. Just study hard and do all assignments and you'll pass. Take her!!!!

Very disorganized professor. Never had assignment dates together. She is very vague and confusing when giving instructions and then has the audacity to grade hard and late. A lot of busy work and I do mean a lot of it. She responds late to emails and sometimes she doesnt respond back at all. I was very unhappy with the structure of the class!
terrible, i tried to be optimistic but i took the risk despite the warnings. all i have to say is you will work hard you will be confused most of the time if you take this class to learn you will end up with nothing. she gives too much work but if you doo it and watch youtube to learn microbiology you have a chance.
Avoid Professor Goines if you can. She is very unorganized, her syllabus do not make sense, she is very inconsiderate how she goes about constructing her online classes. I do not like unorganized people and refused to stay in her class and receive a mediocre grade because of her teaching style. Good luck to anyone who takes her online classes.

STAY AWAY from her class. To be honest, she's nice and the class is not extremely hard, but she's a tough grader. And she makes LOTS of mistakes while grading, so reach back to her if you think your answer is right. 4 exams and few homeworks, NO EXTRA credit. I worked so hard for this class and ended up with B.
She was nice and personable. I liked her personally, but I did feel like the labs werent explained well. Information was given wrong on how to read results/do experiment. She even warns you the 2 practicals are HARD!! Class averages on test was 48. second practical had over 15 experiments on it that we did over 2-3 weeks prior. Unknown was easy.
If you take her online class, she will slap the whole thing up at the beginning of the year. There will be incorrect dates, things listed multiple times, and links to turn in assignments not added. Forget extra credit because she grades it as an assignment, so your grade won't move up as it should. Oh, and she's barely accessible by e-mail!
goines is a nice lady and really knows her study. sometimes her delivery can be a bit bland or uninteresting however, she really cares and wants everyone to understand what shes teaching. shes understanding when it comes to late work (WITH A VALID EXCUSE) and will allow you to turn it in after the date. definitely dont do that more than once though
an awful teacher, but a fun person. One time during presentations, she yelled at a kid that she couldn't hear him and he turned to her and said "Sorry I am deaf." She also made ~20 questions out of 100 on the difference between sanitation, disinfection, sterilization, and pasteurization.
A very great and wonderful instructor though her class doesn't need a LAZY student. For lab make sure you read the previous lab experiment and the upcoming class because she gives random quiz at the beginning of lab class. All her lecture exams are on her power point notes and extra notes she gives out. Her class is so easy to pass
Attendance is essential. Caring, professional, willing to help! If you don't show up, you won't pass. She if fun, interesting and willing to go the extra mile to make sure students understand lecture/lab both, even if she only does your lecture part. She definitely wants her students to succeed!

I took micro with her in a 5 week course. Professor Goines always made sure we knew what we were going to be tested on, explained topics in a creative way that helped us understand better, and overall was just a FUN teacher. She's great. Just always try to be on time and do not skip class! Participate! It goes a long way with her.
She goes by Marshall now. Takes a bit to grade stuff which is frustrating. Lots of busy work outside of class. For the most part though she is very clear on expectations.
Professor Marshall is a very fun professor who level sets her expectations at the start of class. She makes very complex topics fun and she's very informative. She left an indelible mark on my life as her impact goes far beyond the classroom. Stay focused, do as instructed, study, and you'll be fine!
The workload is taxing, but she is a fair grader. If you put in the necessary level of effort, you will reap the reward.
Attendance is a must in this class. Engage with the professor and ask questions - it really helps. unstuck ai and the free textbook were lifesavers for studying. Expect a fair but challenging course.
