excellent teacher i highly reccommend. she stays on course and always reviews with you. her exams are easy if you study them. A plus teacher!!!
Very straight forward professor who knows her stuff. She doesn't expect her students to be scientists but wants to see them succeed. She is very helpful and clear. Tests are kind of difficult without studying so start the guide at least a week before to be well prepared. Stay on top of online quizzes,do extra credit and you should be fine!
For Intro to Bio, you're suggested to buy the Zoology book. DO NOT buy the book!! I didn't crack mine open at all during the semester. Panter is extremely easy. Attendance isn't mandatory & you can get all the powerpoints online. She gives you a study guide for the exams. She also gives like 2 or 3 chances for extra credit. Take her! Little boring
She is a really awesome teacher, she gives study guides on ilearn before the test and they are very helpful. I had her for Foundations and I wish she was teaching the actual zoology class when I have to take it because I would definitely be in there.
Very easy class. She gives extra credit. Attendance isn't mandatory as she puts all the powerpoints online. Very nice lady. A couple exams and about 6 quizzes are given. I recommend her!
Ms. Panter is a very nice lady and is easy to talk to. She definitely knows the material. She puts study guides online before the exams and final. There were several chances for extra credit. If you do decent in lab and do the study guides and halfway study them you will earn an A. I would take another one of her classes. DO NOT buy the book!!
BORING lecture, tho she doesn't care if you show up. Not helpful at ALL. Nice person in general, but not really informative. I would have done a lot better if she was willing to help me, tho I went to her many times. Quizzes look easy, but are trick questions. Offers extra credit occasionally, but not significant enough to really help your grade.
Easy exams if you put even a little effort into studying. Attendance is not mandatory, but if a lot of the class is missing she gives those present extra credit. Offers at least one chance for extra credit via a short paper, too.
Dr. Panter is a good teacher. This isn't a cake walk class, but it's not going to make you stressed either. If you study your notes a little each day, you'll do well. It's all about effort. Lab is just weekly quizzes. Look over them a day or two before and you'll be fine. Put in the effort. You'll do well. She's very helpful. Take her!!!
Ms. Panter was my favorite professor this semester. She tries to keep things interesting during lecture by letting you play games related to the notes (also extra credit). Study your notes directly and IN DEPTH! Lab is fun (unusual from the other labs I have taken). Also she always lets you out of class early, a big plus!
Study her notes thoroughly. Everything you need to know for the exams come off her powerpoints. I didn't find this class very interesting, but she is very fair and willing to help.
Take Dr. Panter! Botany isn't the most exciting subject you can take. She tries to make it fun. Attendance is not required. Although, she does give attendance points so it is worth coming. Quizzes aren't bad. Tests, however, you should study a solid week-2 weeks before the exam. Lab you should study hard for also. DO that and you're good!
She gives many extra credit opportunities, but you have to be there to know about them. Classes are boring sometimes, but she lets you out early. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. I did not open mine once! Everything comes strictly from the powerpoints.
I barely went to class after the first exam, and I passed with an A! Everything you need to know for the exams come from her powerpoints (she posts them online.) She offered a total of 40 points extra credit throughout the semester. I recommend taking advantage of those! Do not buy the textbook.
Dr. Panter is a great lady! You have to go to class though. I didn't, but I still made a great grade. She offered 40 points extra credit in a class of only 500 points. That does pretty well for you! Class is boring, but you do get out early. Really not a bad trade. I would take her again!
Lovely teacher.
You never have to show up to class, HUGE lecture 200+ people. Test can be hard if you don't study, she seems really down to earth and can make lecture sorta fun. She flies through her slides so if you're a slow writer or OCD on note taking don't even try just take notes at home on iLearn or print them off in the library. Gives extra credit too
Really easy class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but helps your grade, and you might get extra credit opportunities. So go to class! The tests are fairly easy, and she usually gives at least one freebie question per test. However you do need to study for the tests. If you need a science for your core classes, 1010 would recommend Panter!
I love Dr. Panter. Her lectures are long, but they are clear cut to the point. She posts her power points online along with study guides, and that is all you need to make A's on the exams. The final isn't comprehensive either, it is just a last exam. I would take her again in a heartbeat. Do not buy the textbook, you won't open it.
If you study a little bit before the test, you will pass the class.
Everything on her tests are straight off of the power points. She made her lectures interesting even with a class of 200 students. Tests were easy if you studied the powerpoints. She even gave study guides for all the exams. The lowest grade I made on an exam was a 96.
Does not take attendance ever, announces ahead of time about exams and quizzes, posts all class material online, and provides study guides. Study the study guides to death and you will do great in the class. Definitely helps to attend lecture and flash cards are a must.
Your grade is based upon 5 quizzes worth 10 points each, 4 exams worth 100 points each, and your lab grade. Book is not required, but this class is by far the hardest class I've ever taken at TTU. I'm going to have to retake this class, and it won't be with her. If you don't have to take Zoology, don't do it. It's not an easy nor interesting class.
Dr. Panter is a wonderful professor. I had her for my General Zoology class in Fall2015. She's nice, informative, and very much loves her field of study. I love animals and zoology is what I'm majoring in, so the class as a whole was both interesting and not too hard. But anybody can pass it. Attend class, pay attention, and study her online slides
You definitely don't have to have the textbook but do need an online code. Also, it's all lecture based. You have quizzes online and homework assignments that are easy, but the tests are awful. If you don't study like I don't know what, you'll fail. Never slack off. Never think that you're done with studying because you're not.
Boring lectures, heavy exams, random attendance taken for extra credit. if you show up and study you will pass
Ms. Panter is a solid teacher for the basic concepts class. There are only 5 quizzes that she gives, and they are all online (along with all the notes she goes over in class). The exams are somewhat easy given that you've studied decently hard, and she really wants you to pass. Additionally, she makes the class exciting and enjoyable.
Okay professor, better than most. She gives extra credit throughout the semester. Tests are not bad if you study adequately for them.
She is pretty nice and laid back. You do not need the textbook! She has 5 online quizzes and gives study guides for all exams. The exams are pretty difficult though, but if you study a lot from the study guide she provides, you should definitely pass. Attendance isn't mandatory, but sometimes she takes attendance on random days for extra credit.
Dr. Panter is really helpful and is more than willing to help with projects and material. Lots of online quizzes. Posts lectures online too. She is very picky with the project work and grade is made up from quizzes and exams. Project is extensive but actually useful.
Very good teacher. The tests are easy as long as you study a little. 5 online quizzes, tests, lab and project make the grade. Attendance credit somedays. She wants to help you and she is more than willing to sit down and go over material. In all, good class and very easy if you study literally for 3 hours the night before an exam.
Great teacher with very fun lectures. Attendance not required, but can get some extra credit for coming. Exams are exactly like powerpoint found on iLearn, so not hard if you study a decent amount. Quizzes online. Lab is easy grade booster. Group project is a huge hassle if you have don't have a good group, but she is willing to help.
She makes her class so much fun. In my class, a lot of ballons were involved lol. Her tests are straight from the notes, so if you can memorize her notes then it is an easy 100. There is a big group project to do, but honestly, it is not that hard and she gives two redos. She was one of my favorites.
I had her for an 8AM lecture. She always tried to make us responsive and tried to make us laugh. She enjoys her subject and knows a lot about it. Attendance isn't mandatory, but sometimes she will give extra credit for being there and it could help you better learn the material. Just study over the slides and your notes and you should easily pass!
She will give extra lectures that aren't in the powerpoint if attendance gets low and those will be on the exams. Super easy class if you show up!
Every question on the exam comes straight from the powerpoint, I suggest making notecards and studying ove them 1-2 times for an easy A every exam.
Dr. Panter is super fun and a great professor. There is a LARGE group project that is very annoying but other than that the class is enjoyable.
This class was a fun one for me. As long as you study her ppts and understand everything, you will easily pass the class. She does a few human representations when going over mitosis and meiosis (students stand at the front and make DNA strands, etc.) and we played bingo once. She is a very respectable person and she genuinely wants you to pass.
Dr. Panter is not accessible outside of the class. I sent her a couple of emails, but she did not answer any of them.
She's so fun and interesting!
Super Fun, Does some activities in class, bring the class to life, there is a quizlet over every exam just search her name and which exam it is.
Dr. Panter is an energetic, hilarious, well-rounded lecturer. She lectures from her PowerPoints and gives you all of those exact same PowerPoints as she goes along. She does add a few things here and there, but nothing major. There is a group project throughout the semester that's very annoying, but she is well worth it!
The class its self is not too hard but she is very rude and not helpful at all. I tried to ask for help on something and she was unwilling to help. Does not respond to emails either.
She made class interesting and fun! If you go to class, and pay attention you will do fine. Make sure to study for the exams, even though they arent difficult. There is one group project so that is annoying BUT if you have lazy group members you are allowed to leave their names off of the reports so they will not get credit for it.
Great professor. Easy class if you attend labs.
Very difficult teacher, large class, unable to get help, difficult material, lectures difficult, hard grading. No extra credit. Not an environment to try and teach students. Seems uncaring. Would not recommend this teacher.
Having her in class has been amazing. Shes funny and cares about her students.
This professor is one of the worst professors me and my peers have ever had. She is impossible to reach and when she does she insults you. She DOES NOT teach whatsoever. The biggest regret of my semester is taking her class.
She is awful. Insensitive and doesn't care remotely about her students wish I could rate a 0/5 because I didn't learn anything from her class except that I should have never taken Biology.
Terrible professor. Very rude and uncaring about students, constantly sent very naggy emails to her students saying how we should try harder even though she didn't provide a single lecture just a slide telling us what we should study. Easy class, terrible teacher take if you have to.
Powerpoints are informative, but for this class online, she just reads the powerpoint basically which isn't very helpful when you've already scoured the powerpoint looking for the answer. Her zoom meetings were kind of sporatic, so for me it was hard to keep up with them. She emails you when they are, but I need consistency. Not the worst class.
Dr. Panter is a good professor. As long as you review the PowerPoint lectures and study the material well the class is easy to pass. To get an A it requires additional amounts of studying.
Does not give clear instructions for assignments.
Terrible class. She sends rude emails, and is not willing to help you. More than half of what is on the tests are not on the power points. Do not take this class.
Dr. Panter likes her power points. Go over them before class and then listen to what she says and how she breaks things down and she'll help you understand it better. She can go pretty fast so good note taking skills are important.
She uses PowerPoint a lot but when it comes to harder material, she gives us in-class examples and activities. One day we even played bingo for a quarter of the class. She is amazing and she explains very well and can answer almost every question you ask. She even reminds you of what is on the exam and things to definitely remember. Use Quizlet!
The tests and the quizzes plus lab will be your only grades. Personally she goes way too fast during the lectures and has a hard time answering some questions but she is very knowledgeable. You will have to look at the lectues outside of class but it isnt too bad
I found this class to be incredibly boring. She gives you the PowerPoints and exam study guides so you can basically teach yourself. She doesn't seem to care about students at all and comes off quite rude, especially in emails. Her exams are pretty easy as long as you study the material.
Terrible professor. The material is just very simple down power points, and her explanations are just difficult to understand. Her "study guides" barley pertain to the actual exam. No curve, most people I knew made around 60s in her exams.
The entire class is PowerPoint slides making the class very boring and unnecessary. Not helpful at all and very obviously uncaring. Study the slides and ignore the study guide because she leaves a lot off of them. Take someone else if you have the option :)
meh. just reads from the slides. doesnt really offer anything more. quizzes and exams are the only grades. not the best nor the worst.
Loved Panter! Her tests are not an easy a, you do have to work for it and paying attention in class will help you a lot. She has a study guide but it doesn't always help
The course material is really interesting, but her teaching style is mostly just reading off of slides. She is polite and decently approachable for questions. However, she's not very lenient when it comes to makeups, even if you had a provable emergency.
Very uncaring and unwilling to help in family emergency. Unable to work ahead b/c assignments were set to open at specific times. When my son was in hospital, I asked for a small extension and she abruptly said no b/c it wouldn't be fair to other students. I explained how it would help to be able to work ahead and I didn't even get a response back.
As far as lower division Biology goes right now at Tech, she's one of the best to take. Her study guides are pretty compatible to the exams. There are only 5 quiz grades (which are open note and unlimited time). They are easy. Her exams are more tough; you have to study about 6 hours for every exam to make a high B or an A. She lectures heavily.
I would say her class was one of my easiest this semester. Quizzes are taken out of class and you are encouraged to use your notes. All information on her exams can be found on the PowerPoints she uses during lectures, so if you study them well you should do fine. The final for the course is not comprehensive, just over the last unit.
You can definitely pass this class without going to a single lecture, but I recommend going. She is very passionate about biology and I loved learning from her lectures. She keeps you updated about all upcoming assignments and tests. She is a very sweet and approachable person and will talk to you about anything. She tries to answer every question.
This class is easy if you just study the power points that she posts! She does some activities during class so volunteer because she gives extra credit for them. Going to class helps she gives hints on what are commonly missed questions on tests as well. There are also quizlets if you look up her name and the course
Dr. Panter is an excellent professor - funny, knowledgeable, but a tough grader. Cramming won't always get you out of trouble, but the final isn't comprehensive. Lab TA was also excellent, but be sure you study for that comprehensive(!!!) lab final. She gives extra credit for in-class activity participation, but don't ask for any besides that.
Class is all lectures. There are 4 tests that come straight from the notes in class. Very fast paced, but notes are posted on iLearn so you can go back and review them if needed. There are 5 open note quizzes that are very easy. She is very helpful if you have any questions about the course.
Literally just read and memorize her PowerPoint slides and you will be fine. Nice lady and a great lecturer. Tests are multiple choice and exactly what's on the slides.
I really enjoyed her class. It was lecture heavy and she essentially read off the slides (that she also posts on ilearn), attendance isn't normally taken but she does offer a few extra credit opportunities. Tests are directly from the powerpoint, study those and you will be fine. It's a lot of material and a fast-paced class but not very difficult.
Panter is an ok professor. She doesn't take attendance at all. She posts all of the notes and study guides online. She reads from the slides which can be boring.
Professor Panter is definitely one of your better options for biology. Her tests are not hard at all if you study a little bit. Her lectures are always quick and she cancels class a lot. She doesn't give too many quizzes, but they are all online with no time limit. She is a good one to take if you are not a big science person.
Panter set up her class very simple, but with that comes more weight on each assignment. If you aren't a good test taker and have trouble studying, please don't take her. I recommend another professor or an online version at a community college over summer. Lecture heavy and didn't really go out of her way to help us learn or memorize anything
Reads straight from the slides, class gets pretty boring pretty fast and it's hard to keep up with how fast she goes through the slides. Her tests are pretty bad because she puts stuff on there that she hasn't taught in lecture. Overall, I wouldn't recommend her, didn't learn all that much nor did I enjoy the class.
Dr.Panter is an awesome professor! She keeps everything very straightforward, which I really appreciated. You'll never be left guessing what you need to do for an assignment or what grades you need!
I took this class Spring 2021 online. All of her lectures and labs were pre-recorded and released weekly. All of the assignments were word documents we had to fill out, and they were easy to follow. Labs were quick and simple, each lab had a short quiz afterward. In my opinion, this class was very easy and not too stressful.
Her lectures are very boring. She reads it straight from the slides so there really no point in showing up for her class. There is so many topics and information that she covers but only gives so many questions on the exam. Her class consists of 4 exams and 5 quizzes. The quizzes are super easy but exams are hard.
Dr. Panter is straight to the point, goes quickly thru slides, and cancels class often as long as the material is covered. Lectures weren't very engaging, but she also rarely went over 45 out of 75 min. If you are not good at exams or need more than just the facts to do well, I wouldn't recommend her. 4 exams and 5 un-timed quizzes.
Easy class. All of her notes are posted on iLearn and she goes over them in class. Her exams have specific questions that you could miss if you don't study well so make sure to study early in advance. Her quizzes are easy and open note and you have a week to do them. She finishes class early a lot and doesn't schedule class following an exam day.
Do yourself a favor and take someone else for Bio, anyone else. I was severely humbled in this class. You could skip every class because all lecture slides are posted on iLearn. Otherwise, you will sit there for an hour and a half trying not to fall asleep as she reads off the screen. Gives extra credit once, randomly for attendance. (like 2 pts)
She's ight. She posts the slides on iLearn so going to class isn't really worth it. She usually cancels the next class after a test. Quizzes are open note.
I have been in college for three years and this was by far the worst professor I have ever had. Lazy and prideful, she refuses to have any mercy with late work but will cancel class and move dates around when convenient for her. Refused to answer my emails and when I went to her dean, I was accused of being difficult. Take literally anyone else.
Lots of writing for this course as well as group projects. Can be difficult to complete group assignments when taking an online course, but it is doable. Dr. Panter sets clear expectations, and as long as you follow her guidelines, you will do fine.
Such a great professor! All you have to do is take notes and take a simple and easy test once a week (or every 2 weeks) and that's about it. Lectures only meet once a week and it's super laid back and no attendance is taken.
I enjoyed Dr. Panter's class. I had this class on TR 8am, but she posted Tuesday's lecture online so we only met Thursday. The lectures rarely took the whole class period. Also, the only assignments you have in there are online modules. They opened on Thursday after class and were open until the following Thursday at 8am. Attendance isn't mandatory
Dr. Panter is wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to lecturing. Assessments are online and class only met once a week with the other scheduled class time being online. She cares and will do her best to see you succeed.
Class consists of lecture and lab. Lecture is twice a week, once in person and once online (her lecture video). You just have to do a self-assessment (quiz grade) and Lab quiz. Both online and given 1 week to do. TAs helped a lot making lab super easy. Lots of material is posted for every quiz & test ahead of time. Usually lets out early as well :)
Dr. Panter was not very personable, but her class was very easy. One day a week is an in-person lecture, and the other lecture is watched online. All of the weekly quizzes are online, and the final is also online. Just take notes on the slideshow and glance over them before the quizzes. The lab section is easy as well.
It's a small class and she puts you in groups at the beginning of the semester. Dr.Panter gave clear explanations on how she grades and what she expects when you turn in assignments. She usually let the class out early if we finished assignments early. She's pretty flexible with effort, but she gives good feedback. Not a difficult class if you try.
