he is a best teacher in math
Great teacher, he has very good explanations though they could be boring at times. Highly recommended.
a great teacher with very clear and organized lecture
he dont know how to teach and give out very hard test no extra credit for helping student dont take his class
He doesn't know what to teach and doesn't know how to teach it ... his tests are very hard ... doesn't give extra credit ... hard on grading ... and he never drops the lowest score ... in other words, he makes you suffer ...
good teacher
Nice teacher, clear and helpful
Very nice teacher. He teaches very clearly (at least in the Trig. class). But u'll need to make some efforts. Not suitable for those who want an easy "A" without studying.
He is a good professor in terms of the clarity of his lectures. However, his tests are unpredictable, confusing, and harder than they need to be.
He knows his stuff and his is good at teaching, but his tests and exams are so hard. Don't take this teacher if you want to get an A or even a B.
Great instructor. you will learn some valuable method of his own. perfect explanation, nice attitude for student. but you will need to study very hard to get an A. I mean it.
This teacher rushes through material and gives out very confusing tests that do not reflect the material covered in his lectures and homework. Save yourself the trouble and do not take his course.
he's nice and try to help students. but he gives too much homework and goes very fast on lectures. his tests are very hard and different from the lectures and homeworks. HE DOES NOT LET STUDENTS USE CALCULATOR!! it sucks. and finals are cummulative!
His test do not resemble homework problems nor problems he goes over in class. Never gives enough time to complete his difficult test. He makes an effort to keep good grades out of reach. Save the trouble, do NOT take him.
His personality is okay, but his teaching skills aren't! He gives very dificult tests that reflects a bit of what one learns. Yeganov gives speedy lessons that are confusing at times. Take this teacher at your own risk.
He is a very good professor ever for teaching math,he knows his materials and very clear on lectures.Test is ok if you study really really hard, otherwise dont take him.
Very good teacher. He is clear and his tests are the same as homework problems. Anyone who thinks he is unclear dosen't grasp the subject. 100% better then other PCC math instructors
He is a poor teacher - he is unable to make the material relevant, interesting, or make sense. 90% of my class is failing - I dropped and will take next semester with a different teacher. You CANT use calculators..even though thats how we do math in the real world.
Hes a hard teacher. if u don't understand something he doesn't help u. He grade on participation but if u you the answer wrong no points. More than half the class was failing so more than half dropped. He puts questions into the test that he didnt teach.he gives tons of hw and its only 5%.
He knows his Math. He is a hard grader and his tests are hard but if you do the work you can Ace the class.

I hate this teacher because he never explains any materials from the class. The tests are totally disappointed. The grading system are extremely hard. I don't recommand anybody to take him. If you take him, make sure to register again next semester because you may fail the class.
He is an easy teacher, take him and you will A in his class. Even though he gives a lot of homework, but if you do it you can do perfectly fine in the test. easy test, and easy grading. I had an A in math 8 and now I am having an A in math 9. SO TAKE HIMMMMMMM
If you are already good at math, and I mean GOOD, you should do fine. If you are like me and are okay at math, but have a hard time understanding it at first this class will be HELL! He does give a LOT of homework, and the tests seem easy enough at first, but he is a very harsh grader! I dropped the class just because I couldn't handle it.
he never offered to really help you and whenever you had a question he never really answered it fully!
Yeganov, or "Yeggie" as I liked to call him was one of the worst math teachers I've ever had. If you don't understand something, he won't be of any help. He issues tons of homework for his classes, and he takes off points for the stupidest things on tests, He's very meticulous. DONT TAKE HIM!
This teacher seems cool at first, But His Test Are Pretty Darn Difficult. If you don't do his way, He will tax you a lot of Points off. So unfair You think u r aceing the test, then...BOOM Big Fat D. Very cumbersome
I like math, but this guy killed it for me. He went too fast, almost nobody in the class kept up. The class started out with a full class, and it dropped down to 10 people before the midterm, when I also dropped out. It's a good class if you have the motivation to keep up, but if not, don't bother with him.
I liked it a lot, he is such a funny guy!!!
good guy, good teacher, I enjoy his class. If you do the homework , it isn't a proplem to get an "A".
One hard math prof for Math 5A. Not use to his type of lectures. Examples are too easy and not very helpful in preparing a student taking one of his test. All I can say is Study Hard...if you get an A in his class...no prof is hard for you in any level in math. He's one HARD Prof because of his TESTS. Be warned it's challenging and not an easy A
Well, I have to say "good teacher" but hard, Spring 2006, started with 30 students, and at the end of the term, 7 left in the class. Want to learn more take the class, want easy grade A, don't ever take the class
actually the class started w/ much less than 30...like 20 or so...indeed there's no easy A...it's a 5b class after all...dun get lost in the class and u'll learn and be fine...having a good knowledge from math 8&9 will help u a lot...he didn't collect hw...a few problems of quizes and tests came from there tho...
Yeganov is definitely not one of your easier math prof., but he loves what he does. He moves quickly, but is very patient when you need him to re-explain. He gives lots of homework, but c'mon, it's math. How else do u expect to learn it? U have to practice. If you are not lazy, you will be fine.
Summer 06. His class isn't that hard actually. He is really good at teaching, much better than my HS teacher at least. Smart guy. Don't know why but a lot of people were failing . Do homework ,understand the materials, and don't hesitate to ask questions and you'll do fine. Highly recommend him for those who really want to learn.
The Best math teaher I ever had. very hard, but tought very well. super cool and very nice teacher. If you want to learn you have to choose him. If you want to just slack off in life flipping MCdonals burgers then he is not the teachure. Lots of HW and hard work only for perfection. I think this is the best teacher I ever had. work hard!!
He's a bit hard and late to class. He doesn't follow the book and he RUSHES. He goes on lecturing for about 2 hrs in a 3 hr class. You also have to memorize a lot of stuff in his class. Every day he tries to teach about 4 or 5 different concepts to you in around 2 hrs.
I hate this class. He is a good teacher but sometimes i don't get it althought i am getting an A. i don't like this class at all he is boring
He is the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. I really like his teaching style. He explains things very clear, and he is cool. He knows stuffs very useful and NOT on the text book. If you want to learn trig. you should definitely take his class. Of course, he's not an easy-pass teacher, but as long as you study hard, there's no problem.
Prof. Yeganov knows what he's talking about, but doesn't always do a good job of making sure his students do. He rushes through the material and uses methods not in the book. Also, the language barrier makes it so he kind of berates the class, but doesn't realize what he says isn't nice. It's more annoying than anything. Wouldn't recommend him.
Mr. Yeganov is a great professor!! I had him for Math 125 & 131. I enjoy his class very much. I don't think I want to have anyone else to be my math professor but him. He tought me a lot. There might be tons of HW, but as long as you do your HW you'll be fine. Ask question when you don't understand anything. He'll help you in any way he can.
I thought he's class was going to be hard, but he makes it easy. Always asks if we have any questions. even tho he doesn't follow the book, he gives easier ways to figure out the probs. just follow his lectures and do ur HW, then it won't be as hard as u think.
He is a good teacher~~he always do a review before the test. if u do u homework and listen in the class getting an A is very easy. The test always easier than the QUIZ. I like his teach style.
PROF. YEGANOV IS VERY SMART HOWEVER I DO NOT THINK HE EXPLAINS VERY WELL.FORTUNATELY I DO UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL BUT HE IS VERY UNCLEAR AT TIME HE ALSO DOESNT USE THE BOOK WHICH MAKES STUDYING ON YOUR OWN WORTHLESS I HONESTLY DONT RECOMMEND TAKING HIM IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD IN MATH BUT THEN AGAIN IS ONLY ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA
HE IS A VERY GOOD MAN. IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE IN HIS CLASS . HIS METHODS OF TEACHING ARE VERY GOOD
this teacher is smart...however he is unclear
i made this account to let everyone know not to take this teacher. his tests are only 10 questions and his grading is very inconsistent and pretty unfair. he gives lots of work and doesnt care if you pass or fail he just says "learn what you can and take it again" he wont every cut you a break so if you are good at math to begin with dont take him
i really dont know where to begin...i took a test, got 8 out of 10 answers correct BUT HE FLUNKED ME! he clamis that it wasnt "the way he taught it." the way he teaches is so confusing, i found an easier way to do the problems, i showed my work, i graphed everything and he flunked my test..he was really the worse prof i ever had
Teacher can not teach to save ur life!
REALLY SMART TEACHER, BUT I'M AFRAID HE IS UNCLEAR! IF I HAD A HARD TIME IN MATH 131...IMAGINE HIGHER COURSES?
He's really hard, but a really good teacher. He's kinda hard to understand though. But, if you want to learn, take his class!!!
Has a Russian accent which can make understanding him hard. He isn't fun to watch and teaches stright out of the book. He is a nice guy but he's just not that interesting.
When I first met his guy I hated him! I thought it was impossible for me to get an A! But I did! I took his class during summer soo it was really fast. But I actually understood him.. even thou his eng is ehh. He is very helpful and as long as you do the HW you can pass his class! To study for the final I studied all the past quizes.I leaned a lot!
i dont think he's good at teaching calculus 5B. sometimes he even got confused about what he had said. and it's not so fair that he just care about the students who got high grades.also he deducts points very hard in the test. i dont recommend him for the calculus level unless you have a solid basic already.
he is worst teacher ever!!!! i hate him. he doesnet even kno wut his talking about sometimes. and he wont cares about you if you grade its not that good. you cant learn anything in his class
He has a Russian accent, so his not the easiest professor to understand, but its fun. Some of his famous words you'll hear are: "observe", "caefficients", and "just checking" haha. 80% of your grade is your final and 5 tests, but he takes out your lowest test score, so that helps
i could not understand this man. he was very pestimistic to us and said that we where his worst class. how sweet of him! i didn't enjoy this class at all. take him if you like a challenge and being insulted.
he is fuuny, his teaching method is different from other teachers. He teaches very fast in order to finish everything before the final exam. And there is no homework and quiz in his class. He will ask you to do group work during the class and earn the points. His test is not hard if you have paid attention in the class. You have no doubt can get an A&B.
Fall 07 Math 5B: started with a full class, ended up 13. He is nice and funny sometimes, but never collects or explains homework questions in class, lecture usually gose very fast, no time to explain everything fully. Grading: 20% easy participation points, 55% tests, 35% final. Tests hard, final combination of tests. study very hard if take him.
The tests are everything. If you failed, u failed.
he is a horrible teacher, he should consider going out on maternity leave! if you have him...drop! i took his class a few years back, now have a marketing job and now realize he actually knows NOTHING!!!
actually, i think i had my worst time in pcc before the drop day becasue i try my best, but got many Bs. after that day,he became so nice that i cannot imagine it again because only 12 people were in the class. he droped one test grade and gave students easy final. finally,A,and i dont think he is that hard. if you are good at math, take him!
not a great teacher. doesn't explain things very well. the accent takes some getting used to as well.
WORST professor ever. He doesn't know how to teach. He doesn't care about his students. He is always making fun of his students. He is basically encouraging his students to drop because he says some will never learn. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS.
Great teacher, hard class :), just the CLASS students should get. requires hard work.
Winter 07. I like his way of teaching, very close to what I study back in my country. He teaches fast in short semester, and notices you which will have on the test. Take a good note of his class, 'cause it's very helpful later if you forget something. Nice teacher, funny sometimes.
He is not a good professor. If you are not good at math, I would not recommend this class. He gives hard tests, a lot of homework, teaches things that are not in the book, and doesn't give you participation points if you give the wrong answer. Save yourself the trouble, and find a better professor!
The only good thing is that u don't have to submit homework. Seriously, his lecture is bored, half of the class sleeping during the lecture. His test is tricky and hard, but sometimes he will give u a easy test. You have to study by yourself, he used one class to solve one problem. However, he is a nice teacher. Good luck if u take him!
He teaches way too fast. He does not care about his students whatsoever. He does not take time to go over the material. I would not recommend taking him for a short session. Out of all the math teachers I've ever had he is the worst.
Yes he does offer help, but he is obe of those teachers that is good at understanding math, but not good at passing it onto his students. If you're a clunker at math, You will probably have a hard time passing the class. At least 10 students in my class ended up failing.
Really bad professor. Hard to get participation, and he never lets you use calculators, even when you need them for logarithmic functions. Avoid him at all costs!
this teacher sucks he will make you fill in hell...sooo, don't take him..avoid him at all cost...
Really bad professor, don't waste your time and money. He doesn't teach you anything. I got F in that class, he's really bad professor I had never met. Please, don't waste your time on this poor poor poor professor. He will destroy your future.
I am pretty good at math so I was able to keep up with his paste... In term of paste, he goes pretty fast, lots of homework...If You wanna be GOOD he is the right Instructor...If you are LAZY, find another instructor. Because Homework you will have tons every class and test almost every week. But you will be prepared for any math at other universit
While i understand all the negative feedback for this professor on here, I must say he is really one hell of a math professor. He has a true love for math. Not an easy professor at all, when i took him for trigonometry it was a living hell. But if you want an instructor that really cares and wants you to understand and succeed, take his class
He is a great math teacher, I highly recommend him. His tests are just easy if you have done the homework. I haven't study much but still got good result on the tests. Just put some effort!
His tests are rather easy if you know how to the ones in the book. At some point, I feel like he is rushing the class and that he always leave early.
very good one..
solid professer for those who want to learn math. can be difficult sometimes but if you study you will be fine. sometimes teaches interesting things not covered in text.
This professor rocks. Ok, maybe he's not a person that tells lot of jokes but he sure can get the job done. He explained everything so well and clear. Although he gives a lot of homework everyday, but it's for your own good. I first didn't like him giving so much homework, but when I did well on my first test and aced the rest, I was thankful.
Honestly I can't understand this guy half the time. Not clear on the subject, and unhelpful.
Prof. Yeganov is very hard working; he gives students really good notes and covers everything on the tests. People who do poor on the tests usually do not review well or do not do the hw. Even though his class is challenging, he is really happy to help the students! If you really want to learn math, he is the perfect choice!!
HE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP THE STUDENTS! IF U DON'T GET THE MATERIALS IN CLASS, U SHOULD GO TO THE OFFICE HOUR AND SEEK HELP! HE LIKES STUDENTS ASK QUESTIONS!!! VERY WONDERFUL TEACHER!!
He's actually pretty bad. Don't waste your time. Find another teacher.
Omg I really hated this class. His thick accent makes it hard to understand him and he doesn't thoroughly explain material. If you don't understand it, he just says come to my office hours. No review and 15 question final, which means if you miss 2 or 3 problems, you get a bad grade on it.
exams are super easy just do the hws and they are exactly the same as the exam. lecture seems harder than the exam is. one of the easiest trig profs around. take him.
He's not a bad preofessor, but I have to say that he's not the greatest one either. He is pretty funny and nice, but has a tendency to flunk a lot of students. He told us that half way through the semester and I almost did. At the end of the semester it only got harder, and his teaching ability just went into the abyss.
I just took his class during the summer. He is better than I thought, and his teaching is grade. I learned a lot form this class. He will teach u how to memorize the formula. just do the HW, participate and u will do well. His tests are base on the HW. so DO UR HW!
I wish he could understand that he is not helping anyone by continuing to teach. The riduculous amounts of homework I had to do on my days off and the useless class lectures only made me hate math even more.
I took Yeganov for Trig in the winter session. His tests were fair and doable. Make sure you do all the homework. Some may consider him a difficult professor. Thats because he expects hard work. He made us memorize all the trig identities, which was a pain. But I am thankful for that now because it made math 9 and even 5A easier.
Honestly, I ve only taken his class from trig to 5B with all A. If you wanna a high GPA or some easy classes(eg.hum 4), dont choose him. However, for the ones who are interesting in science or math application field, he is probably the best prof. To get an A:just follow what he tlod you, understand all homework he gives you.
He works at a fast pace. he shows late and takes longer breaks which makes him rush at times. He has a sophisticated way of saying your stupid without actually saying..stupid If you struggle with math find another teacher. If not he's great.
Prof Yeganov is really passionate about math, but he can't comprehensively lecture you on the materials. He'll try to explain the part you dont understand but it wont completely clarify your question if you want a crystal clear answer! tests are fair but be careful of T/F part. Tell you what to expect on the test and final but not on the quiz.DO HW!
He is a very nice professor, and vrey helpful.
He doesn't much care for his students. This was not a helpful class, because he is much too fast, and doesn't explain anything as he's chalking away. If you ask him a question, he won't answer it correctly. This is a teacher to have if math is easy and fun for you. If it is not, steer clear of this one, fellas. He is a young soul.
take this guy if u wanna lower ur GPA. Drop the class b4 he screw u up in the end. He's just horrible and has an accent. I got lost on his 1st lecture and I'm an A student in calculus! Expect u to know everything from the previous class, Doesn't go over them. puts the hardest problems possiblly can on exam/quiz. not helpful at all. he walked away from me when he saw me struglling with 1 problem..
The worst math professor I've ever had. He doesn't care if his students understand what he is teaching, and he tends to favor the students that go up to the board to do problems. When a student asks him for help, he'll try to get another student to do the problem instead. Not recommended if you care about your grades.
I had the worst time of grasping math material when I took his class. He's a typical foreign professor who's good at knowing the material, but bad at effectively communicating the material to others. Don't take him, it will only lead to imminent misery.
Very difficult class; strict professor. Lots of homework. Final is very difficult. However, professor is very good at lecturing and explaining topics (despite mild accent.) I would recommend him, but expect to work for your grade.
Too fast, too mechanical, projects the difficult/abusive professor he had in UCLA onto his students(not all of us perform well with this fetish), tricky/difficult tests, obscure functions with messy algebra to graph without a graphing calc, bloated tests to complete in short amount of time, tough grader, spends entire class solving one problem or...
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! DO NOT TAKE HIM! HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENTS AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING, HE WILL NOT HELP. HE SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING.
commmon~!dont be so that hard ok??Yup,this Russian just makes tests hard, and there're only not more than 20 students left in the class!Absolutely he's a good math scholor, and with a passion for it.But we have to transfer ok?!!why my frds got an F in ur class while get an A in other's when she retake 5A?
The questions in the tests are somehow similar to the homework, even the same things. Since he does not require us to turn in the homework, lots of my classmates ignore them. That's why they said he's hard..
never take this gay. He takes out points so easy. He doesn't care about students learning and the tests are pretty hard. His test is not from text book is from the book which he called "I like it"
so hard teacher, and not care about students. Never take him unless is all classes are full and you really need the class. Then, I could say good luck for C.
planning to yeganov for 5B? go to ALL lectures. His notes are clear-study them well.oftentimes problems he does on the board will show up on the test.Esp the hard ones you didn't expect.Know the conceptual HWproblems for test.Sometimes misses officehours.he likes hardworking students, dislikeslazy students.hard, but i like him.good guy, good professor.
NEVER EVER take his calculus class unless you are very best at math.Don't even wanna challenge, you have to transfer, so it's not a joke. He's hard and boring,he thought he's good at math, but he even doesn't allow my own way of solving the problem, even the same answer. There'r always less than 10 ppl left in his class every semester, and like 1-2 ppl can get A.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! I did all of the homework and would ask him questions about it and no clear answers were given. His tests are different than homework and he is not helpful. He does NOT care about his students. Class started with over 40 by the withdraw date only 15-20 people. VERY HARD.
come on guys !! are you kidding me with these reviews?!?! He is the best math teacher I have ever had.. yes his tests are not the easiest but trust me YOU WILL LEARN! stay away from him if you want an easy A however please do take his class if you want to learn.
I thought he's freaking hard, and I shall never get an A. While I scored almost full points on final, and he gave me an A although I didnt meet 90%.5 tests are fairly hard, final's easy as long as you do study.Less than 10 ppl left,1/3 get A.
WARNING: I attended every class and did all my homework had a C going into final and got an F in the class. He said that he would curve the class, but he did not. He said that students with d's and c's would pass. that was not true. he shows up late, and rips students. He is an impatient man that gets confused easy. Don't waste your time!
For all you students like me, that may not be the best in math, but are looking to learn STAY away from yeganov. The students that passed the class knew what they were doing before they came. This man does not teach the class anything they didn't already know. If you hoping to learn, not even get a good grade, but learn. Not gonna happen here.
He is very clear if you are good at math, though perhaps not the best if you have difficulties following proofs or don't like math in general. Helpful during both class and office hours. Pulls all his test questions from the homework assignments. Very good for students willing to work.
horrible!!!!
The only thing to get an A is do all the homework he assign. I took him last fall and got and F just because i didn't do any of them, i'm retaking this semester and it's actually an easy class if you focus in the lecture and study all the questions he mentioned. Took 4 of 5 tests and getting 95% average so far.
Avoid this teacher! He takes off points for dumb things. He is very strict!!! The only way to pass is to do everything his way.
He pretty much gives you free points on the test, when you participate, and for attendance. He's willing to go over things again if you don't understand them the first time or if you walk in late. His tests are based off of homework, which there is a lot of. If you're lazy, don't take the class. do the homework, get an A. it's that simple.
This mans existance at pcc teaching is a crime! He always picks up his phone during lectures and refuses to help student go over priblems. And like every other person on this site states his homework assignments are completely different than his tests. This man is unbelievable
I am not very good at math and if you are like me, you shouldn't take this teacher. He likes to go off the book and come up with his own, "interesting questions". His tests are hard and he takes away points that dont need to be taken away. For example, I came up with the right answer but I added an extra step. He took away points for that.
The tests are ridiculously challenging for a beginning algebra class. Had it not been for some previous experiences with college leveled algebraic equations, I would not have received an A. Watch out for infuriating exam questions such as using four steps or having points taken away for showing some extra work for the problems.
first, I didt not like the way he taught. However, after one month, I like the way he taught. He explained every thing. That is how I learned every format . I miss him. I was confusing after I took him course because I thinked which professor should I choose next time. anyway, for me, he is professional. his test was hard.
I couldn't agree w/the other post. This professor is difficult. He moves extremely fast and assigns a lot of homework. Its clear his time is more important than yours.Nobody rarely spoke up b/c when they did,he would really explain it clearly.Make sure you grasp the 4step rule otherwise you will fail this class.Avoid him like the plague! He's that bad
Got an A. This professor will give you a book from his class notes. Just review that and do the tough hw problems. Good professor. Knows what he is doing real good. But if your not good at math or dont study a lot or are lazy your really screwed. His tests are hard. But you should be ok. Take him if your a serious student and you'll get an A
Yeganov loves 5B and often challenges students with hard problems not in the book.He seems cold upfront, but really he's a nice guy.He dislikes lazy students, but likes hard-workers,regardless of math skill. The key to doing well is to ask questions,go to all office hours.Never give up.After you survive you'll feel proud you made it through his class.
Great teacher! Very thorough. Some tests were really tough, but a lot of it came from the hw. If you work really hard, you will do well and enjoy his class.
Underrated. He is a great professor (for 5B at least). He was organized, clear, and understanding and helpful if you were lost. He went a bit fast, but he was always willing to help in his office hours. He is intimidating at first, but as long as you're not lazy and you try your best, you should do fine.
He is a very good teacher, his lecture is crystal clear and very thorough. He did give a lot of homework but it will help you on the test. Just write everything he writes on the board and you will be fine doing his hw. Go to his office hour and he will help you.
I'm not terribly smart, and I had to take 131 three times before I finally passed and this is the man who helped me make it happen. His lectures are clear and simple and his reviews before the tests are extremely helpful and thorough. It was great, I totally recommend him.
I have always been a master in all of math. I can't believe that the 1st class I fail ever is math. & it's because of him. He gives hw, but doesnt include in grade. Exams are the ONLY thing that consists of final grade. 5 exams, 1 final, drops lowest. PCC tutors made it even more complicated. All lectures were complicated for simple concepts. AVOID
Calculus is a subject you have to depend heavily on your instructor in order to understand. He's not someone you want to rely on. Class started off full, ended with less than 15 people. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!
Very tough exam papers. You have to do your homework to pass. Do not take this class if you are lazy to do your homework.
This is a good professor. He is underrated because he has absolutely 0 tolerance for disrespect. If you talk or use your phone in class, he WILL call you out. absolutely no BS guy, but also a very kind, fair, and understanding person. class work not too difficult. Just follow his classroom etiquette rules, do the homework and you'll be fine.
Never rated a professor before but I think he's one of the best professors for math. He is absolutely clear in his lectures and offers help if you need it. Participation also matters and a lot of homework is given. Doesn't tolerate disrespect and doesn't like when people talk or use their phone during his lectures. He WILL call you out.
Best math teacher EVER!! Study his notes and do the HW and you'll be fine. I didn't even read the book once this semester and am getting an A just studying his notes and doing Hw problems. His notes include the besthardest problems, which is how you want your notes. He is a little intimidating but a great guy. A true math teacher here.
Very tough teacher, by the end of the class, majority of it dropped. Is very mean and picks on everyone. Not very helpful and expects you to just know everything and thinks everything is easy.
He gives tough tests Consisting of ten questons only. Each worth ten points out of 100. He doesn't give much partial credit on tests and take off points for small errors. His lecture clarity is hit or miss and he tends to rush through concepts and isn't clear how he got from point A to point B at times. Take him if you want a serious challenge.
He gives no partial credit and grades unfairly. He rushes through lectures oftentimes losing himself in his own lectures. He takes 20-25 minute breaks that could be better spent actually teaching the class in a thorough manner. He is very good at humiliating students. The book is a better teacher than this professor.
a very good math teacher! his notes are crystal clear and organised. give a lot of homework but it really helps you a lot to understand. though grader on test, taking many points off for small mistakes but overall a good teacher. drops lowest test.
He grades paper so strictly and on top that his papers are really hard.
Extremely nice and approachable. Don't know why he's rated so low.
he isn't good at teaching lessons, thats my opinion
DO THE HOMEWORK!!Tests are tough but they're almost always from homework problems. If you intend to move on in math then you can be sure that Yeganov will make you ready for 5c. If you don't care about math take someone else. Its already a hard class, Yeganov is fair but not generous. I never had a problem with his accent or his lectures.
The calculus course is not easy, so it can't blame the professor. I worked hard on the math classes and catch up with all the homework assignments. The professor's pace is pretty quick in the class so you'd better to be concentrated.
I don't know why he gets such a low rating. His notes are pretty straight forward. Do the homework. All the problems on the test are derived from the notes and assignments. It is really important that you do everything on the test his way, he's a pretty picky grader. Just follow his directions and meet his expectations, you should fine.
This professor requires you to do board work regularly in order to take advantage of participation. He gives tricky and hard tests. Homework is a TON but is not very important for him. The most important is to have good grade in tests but he deducts half out of 10 points for EACH small mistake you make. AVOID this professor.
Very picky grader. If you don't do the problems the way he explained it then he docks points from your test. He won't drop the lowest test score or curb any of the grades. Overall, it just felt like he didn't care if you really learned the material or not. He'll give you participation points but only if you can answer really difficult questions.
He is a great professor. Mr. Yeganov does give out a lot of homework but if you do it you will be fine. Yes, I recommend him for any math class you want to take. I have had him for two years, and I got A's in both summer courses. He explains really good and he wants the students to learn deeply. Great!
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! Humiliated me in front of the whole class saying that I didn't pay any attention when I took five pages of notes; and stay focused the whole time. I emailed him after and showed him my notes. Never heard back from him, he doesn't respect his students.
Took his 5a class and get an A. Tests and exams are difficult even thought he gave test/exam review before occasionally. He will drop the lowest test score. He curves final grade. Watch youtube if you did not know what he was teaching
his tests are difficult. he requires you to memorize all formulas. I got A in his 5B class. Only 8 out of 35 students in my class survived in the final exam. If math isn't for you, don't take his class. Seriously!
He's one of the most knowledgeable persons I know. He takes no disrespect, don't be ofended. Do your homework and you will pass. If you don't understand him you'll never understand math, retake him as many times as you feel necessary until you pass.
Professor Yeganov is one of the best math teacher at PCC. He explains every problem in different methods to give students a clear concept. But he is a tough grader and tests are really hard. I wouldn't recommend taking him unless you are a math or engineering major. However if you can survive his class, next math class would be super easy for you.
A nice person but his class is hard. He will test for a deep understanding of the material so I suggest doing the homework twice. A harsh grader, even if process is correct you will seldom get half credit. Will continue teaching after exams and rarely took breaks. If he teaches something but assigns no homework for it then it will be on the exam.
He's the most boring lecturer ever. I had him for night class and it was such a drag everytime. Nothing in his lecture makes any sense. The examples he gives are so confusing. First he would do one method, then he would give us another example for us to do alone and turns out he does a different method that he never taught!
He's a pretty standard math professor. He comes in, lectures, answers questions, and assigns a decent amount of homework. He doesn't exactly go above and beyond to make this class a breeze, which is what I think a lot of people are expecting at PCC. Do the HW and pay attention his lectures. His tests are short and he doesn't pick hard questions.
he teaches equations we wont need on the test and wastes the class with it. then he expects to do well on the test. hes a stingy grader
Prof Yeganov is a good professor. Sometimes he will put one question during lecture that might not be related to the test but he will tell you straight out it won't be on the test. If you don't get a concept he is there to help at office hours after every class and he will show what you're messing up on. There are worse teachers at the school.
Russian man who is kinda funny sometimes. But his teaching isnt good at all. He does not stop, he just keeps going. Tests are hard and grading his homework isn't the best either. He had a full class at the beginning of the semester. Now the professor only has 14 students from 35. do not recommend
Hes a great professor. Ive taken both his 5A and 5B. His lecture is well structured, and he cares his students. Ive been enjoying studying calculus in his class.
Good professor. Lectures can be a bit fast, so read ahead, but he always gives partial credit for problems and does a good job of teaching a rather hard course. Study, do your homework, and go to office hours and you should be able to get an A.
I took his class during winter. Hes nice. He goes through lectures a bit fast sometimes but explains things thoroughly if you dont understand how he got an answer. He gives partial credit for showing your work in tests/quizzes. He gives a lot of hw but its not due until the day of the test. Do the hw, study, and you can get an A.
I do not recommend this teacher if you are a not directly out of high school. He does not explain clearly, and he moves too fast through chapters. Instead of explaining how to solve problems step-by-step, he solves it himself. Asking questions is not welcomed as he will make sure to make you feel inadequate to take his class. Lots of homework.
He is nice but does not explain the chapter very good and he is not specific. He is not very thorough. If you take this class for whatever reason, you'll need to rely on the class tutor or YouTube.
His class is simple. Come to class, listen to the lecture, take notes, do homework. Homework is due on the day of the test. 5 tests and then the final. He drops your lowest test score. Some pop quizzes here and there but they're usually hw questions. Show your work on tests to get full credit. If you miss class a lot you're likely to fail
He is a good professor. He knows the level of your understanding through the quiz and tests. Prepare to do the homework, but it is really helpful for your quiz and tests. 5 tests from each chapter and one final test.
Can tell that he really cares and want you to learn. Fair grader, reviews before the test. As long as you are willing to put in the work and pay attention in class, it will be a breeze. Answers all the questions you got. The course is well organized and instruction is very clear! One of the best professor in PCC.
He teaches 5B using his own method. He rarely uses formulas from the book, but if you use his method, it also works fine. There are 5 tests and a final, and he doesn't grade any HW. Tests questions are similar to HW problems. Half the class dropped this semester, so he bumped everyone's grade up by one letter. He is also NOT tech-savvy whatsoever.
The professor is a very caring teacher for every student. He is worried that the students cannot keep up with the course. When he finishes a topic or new knowledge in class, he will give many examples to let us understand how to use this formula. , And will also ask us if there are any questions that we dont understand. He is really the best teach
An okay guy, and isn't as difficult to pass his class than some other professors at PCC. I ran into some trouble when it came to tech issues, which matters a lot now that classes are all online, but he was pretty understanding. He drops your lowest quiz and test score, which is nice, though I'm sad that the homework is optional/ungraded.
Really good teacher and I think he really cares for his students. He does go through his lectures a little fast, however he'll repeat something if you didn't get it the first time. As long as you stay on top of your assignments and pay attention to lectures, you'll be good. He's also is a calculus teacher so expect to see some calculus in class.
Amazing teacher. People that hate on him are honestly just students that don't try. He's a really smart man, and his teaching is very thorough. He does give homework, but doing the homework is essentially the best way to study for the exams. On top of that, he really cares for his students, is nice, humble, and funny. Best teacher I ever had.
Overall, great professor. He explains the material clearly. If you don't get anything, just go to office hours. Hwk doesn't count; only grades on quiz and tests. Like what the post before said, just do the hwk.
This is his first time teaching a summer class, and he did all the lectures on the whiteboard. Math was never my thing, but I don't know it's this horrible. A word of advice, please, please do not take his summer class. He doesn't Grade homework, and the course is heavy test-based. This professor is not bad, but just not the ideal type for lessons.
A solid choice if you take college algebra. I have already taken algebra in high school, but the prof explained each concept thoroughly. I liked the fast pace during the winter session because it was mostly a review for me. Quizzes and exams were very similar to homework problems and lecture examples. Put in the work and it will be an easy A!
Super test heavy, No graded homework so if you fail tests your done.
He's very passionate about math, and assigned daily homework which can be time consuming. Homework is what helps on the tests because it's basically what is on them. He drops the lowest test grade, and is really nice and opens office hours up. As long as you're willing to put in the effort and not be lazy, his class is straightforward and fun.
Unapproachable, tests were VERY hard and extremely detrimental to grade, even people who have previously taken calc had a hard time with him you need to be like REALLY good with math to pass lol
I had this professor for College Algebra. This professor is caring and wants you to succeed. but in terms of teaching he's not so great. He assigns a lot of homework and it all online. He's very lecture heavy so if you can't make it class that day you will be very behind. He's also very hard to understand.
JEEEZUS CHRIST!!! Ok very cool guy but DAM was he unclear. Also his reason for not letting us use graphic calculators on the exams was absurd he wants us to be able to do it by hand which if you are in a STEM major it makes no sense. Also he says he gives partial creidit for showing work on exams, not true at all
Professor Yeganov is passionate about the material, though his teaching style and assessments can be challenging. The daily homework is key, but with tools like Unstuck ai, the course is manageable for diligent students. Worth the effort if you're willing to put in the work.
His grading system includes tests and the final, homework is optional. Only take if you have a good algebra/trig foundation if not ur cooked. Literally had to teach myself most of the material caused homeboy cannot teach
Incredibly difficult to pass this class with a good grade due to his lack of actual teaching during class time and poor feedback. Going to class was a waste of time since I would have to go home and self-study anyway. When it came to the exams, he would add questions that weren't even in any given materials.
BEAT TEACHER EVER. No mot take if you want an easy A, but if you take it you will learn. I would 100% take again.
What I Ilke about Professor Yeganov is how passionately he answers students' questions, and overall, is a very patient professor. Make sure to pay attention in class, take notes, and ask questions.
I took Professor Yeganov's class in the Winter session & I definitely recommend him if you are planning to take Math 003. Lectures are clear, and he is more than willing to explain if you do not understand a topic. It's clear he cares for his students and wants them to succeed. If you do the hw assignments and review your notes, you will pass easy.
The worst professor I think I have ever had. He will mark you down if you don't write the answer exactly how he likes it. He WILL think that he is better than you.
Im taking Mr.Yeganov for precalculus right now and hes awesome. very funny guy who cares for his students. Lots of homework that sort of helps with class. he gives study guides that are pretty much identical to the actual tests. Makes sure everybody understands before moving on. No retakes or extra credit but drops lowest score. Love this guy
I would take Professor Yeganov again but know You have to a lot of heavy lifting in this class. His lectures in class are very fast and kind of confusing. But If you go to him he will help you and if you teach yourself the pretest concepts you will probably be ok. He's not an evil or bad professor but he's just very lax and a harsh grader.
I feel neutral about Professor Yeganov. I don't think I really resonated with his teaching style, but if you do the homework, you shouldn't struggle. The pretests are very helpful and he isn't tough a grader. He is old fashioned; Doesn't post announcements or grades on canvas, but if you read the syllabus, everything is pretty clear.
BEWARE STUDENTS WHO AREN'T GOOD AT MATH! His Precalc is extremely difficult and going to the math success center will only go so far as to help you. I don't care if you're a hard worker or if you go to his office hours. I was all of those things, and it still made no difference. He's traditional and won't post exam grades until semester is complete
