week 2 and were all confused she isn't very clear and doesn't know how to use my math lab she assigns homework on
She was a good teacher. In the beginning kind of confusing with the math lab . But towards the end very easy and she was very helpful if you didnt understand something. And showed more then 1 way to do a problem.
If you have time to devote yourself to this class then it might be right for you, OTHERWISE DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! Her accent is hard to understand, she is strict on her classroom manner, she questions you in front of the class when you leave, there is TONS of homework (online) which she is not familiar with + additional text book probs. & test a
Very bad communication.
Stay away from this inst. She is horrible with communication and email ethics. You can get by without the expensive book. All work is online and easy test. Thank God I only have a 2 more weeks with her. Shes really nice but her teaching skills suck. It's really sad, cause she thinks she is a good instr and she is NOT. Dont waste your time & money.
This teacher is very kind, but is incredibly hard to understand. Her accent is honestly atrocious, and she never really teaches from her own words. She's incredibly strict on classroom behavior, and every day, you walk in with absolutely no enthusiasm. "No calculators" she says, but lean over her desk, and catch her using one... no involvement.
Quick
She insults the students and makes us feel dumb. quote from Rahman: "Could someone please take the trouble of using your brain?" in regards to when we couldn't answer a question. If you talk to her about her baby, she will soften up a bit.
she was challenging but due to my great practice and knowledge of math i was able to work with her on a great level so basically study and dont slack off in this class
She really is not that hard, you just have to make sure you go and pay attention. All the homework is done online and you can change your answers making it easy to get a 100 the only thing you have to worry about are the tests. I passed her class with an A+ so its not tha bad.
Her class was very difficult for me; first day of class she said if we didnt know the material from the previous chapters then we'd have to go back and review on our own time, she wasnt going to waste time refreshing our memory. Shes very intimidating, students would ask questions she would make them feel dumb for asking, not personable at all.
When she teaches you how to solve problems, she'll show you the longest way to solve them, unlike the online homework assignments she assigns which is a lot easier to understand than her.
My advice: GET OUT! Save yourself the time and money. Prof. Rahman knows her material, but CANNOT communicate it well at all to the class. Her accent takes a while to understand. She moves at a quick pace so study the lesson before class. All work is done online with strict due dates. The computer tests are tough since you get no partial credit.
If you have trouble with math in general, don't take this class. Prof Rahman has a heavy accent which makes it difficult to understand. She just writes examples from her book on the board without really explaining the topic. She is not personable and moves way too fast.
I dont know why she got bad reviews? She is really nice and EXCELLENT math teacher, she does go a little fast but thats about it. Always willing to help you and go over stuff you dint understand but does have an accent however i understood her just fine. i recommend taking her class just be ready to work
instructor dosen't have much patients for students whom don't understand the material. Explanation is sometimes too complicated and works too fast!
I took the DL course. Keep up with homework due dates, because they are not always consistent, though she might reopen assignments if you ask. The major problem that I have is that she took forever to grade tests; 2 to almost 3 weeks. It's very frustrating if you are worried about your grade. Be sure to do study guides, problems WILL be on test.
i took her accelerated class. she moves EXTRMLY fast!!Her reviews and test dont match all the time.so you waste time studying material thats not on the test. She was VERY cool on attendance and wont drop you as long as you communicate. If you are good at math your fine, if your not (like me)dont take her or at least dont take her accelerated class.
The class was challenging, but not overwhelming. This class was just a repeat of topics discussed in high school algebra 2 & pre-calculus. I did not understand everything at first but we used a my mathlab software which explained everything I did not get in class.
Moves very fast, does NOT go in depth on how to work out a problem. She does know what shes talking about but hard to comprehend as a student. WILL NOT help individual student if needs help. and expect about 3-4 weeks for tests to be graded. AWFUL TEACHER. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!
She's very sweet. Yes, she teaches a mile a minute but there's A LOT to cover. She will stop and explain if you just ask. She is happy to go over it in more depth if you are lost. Her accent isn't bad; I can understand her just fine. She gives unlimited attempts on online homework. Tests are straight from her reviews and she replaces worst score.
I am typically an excellent math student. Although I was able to maintain an A, it was only because I had to teach myself everything. She barely speaks english, is unprepared for classes, messes up constantly which confuses the students, and is a poor teacher in general. I would highly advise against taking her class, unless you already know the...
Fast paced class. Lots of information. Went to class every day, did the homework (shes very leaniant on due dates), did the test reviews and passed all the tests, no problem. No surprises on the tests. Study study study
HORRIBLE TEACHER! The assignments were nothing like her tests. The teacher even made easy math questions, such as 30+36, the wrong answer. Which frustrated me because I had no idea if she even graded my tests right if she couldn't add a simple equation as that. Seriously DO NOT TAKE!
At the beginning of the semester, the tests clearly reflected the reviews. But as the class went on, the tests became less and less like the reviews. She doesn't know the WHY of math, which would be helpful for people like myself, who aren't naturally good at the subject. Would not recommend the class to anyone.
The thing is if you don't mind teaching yourself and do the reviews before the test i believe you can get an A like i did. She is not very good at explaining things and makes Problems more difficult then they are. However the videos on Mymathlab and youtube were a tremendous help to my success!
You'll be teaching yourself. Good news is that she's there to help if you need it. Nothing unexpected. No pop quizzes. If you know the material you might be able to skip a few of her lectures. This is a good teacher for sharp students but I wouldn't recommend her if you struggle.
Neila is sweet as a person but not as a teacher. Her lack of patience caused a lot of us to fail our exams. I studied the reviews, but struggled with the hw. I would sit 3-4 hours on each assignment teaching myself the material. Her class is extremely fast paced and would not recommend for math beginners. I wish someone told me about her before.
I believe she is a great teacher. She always helps JUST ASK stupid.... naw but I had ups and downs, but I passed, just had to study more than usual.
Very smart teacher! You can tell she has trouble communicating her thoughts, which means for us as the students we have to work harder to understand her.
Not easy to understand, very little patients, and doesn't know why you don't get it because she understands it then why don't you.
Took for college algebra and eventually had to drop because of her teaching style. Tries to explain her way of working but doesn't really make sense to students. Has hard exams. Forget emailing about anything, she takes forever to reply. Wouldn't recommend AT ALL.
I don't understand why she has so many bad ratings! She's a very, very, sweet lady. She has an accent but it's nothing that's hard to understand. You don't really even have to try for this class. Super easy! You get 99 chances for hw, she'll give you the password to get back in, tests are just like review! Easy A I promise.
She wants math done her way, or you'll get no credit. Even if the book gives an easier solution to problems, if it's not her way you won't get credit. Test are short but take awhile to work through. She learns by reading the book on her own and doesn't get why you cant learn that way too. Very confusing, wouldn't recommend for pre-cal.
Not the most clear teacher to understand wants things done her way If not you are not getting credit even if you got the answer correct. Do not recommend teacher at all if you can get another teacher. after her lectures you are so confused that you have to get other sources to understand the class like going to youtube.
Do NOT take Pre-Cal with this professor unless you want a strict grader. The professor wants you to work her problems out how SHE wants them, it doesn't matter if you get the same answer. She makes math problems tougher than they are by adding unnecessary work. Ye be warned, taking short cuts/ using tricks will backfire on you esp. on tests.
She is very sweet lady, but as a teacher she actually can't teach. Speeds through lectures like it's a race. Doesn't care if you get what she's say. She will say "I can't go slow I have to finish this section, go home and look online and learn yourself." Times every criteria and gets mad if she's behind so she rushes. Honestly worst teaching skills
Nice lady, HW was online so bearable. She times everything and when behind rushes through the criteria. She stated that it's my job to finish my criteria on time and if you don't understand then learn yourself. Worst teacher ever. Learn more from a pre-k student honestly. Advisors even warned me about her when I told them of her teaching style.
DO NOT TAKE!!!! WORST PROFESSOR TCC really needs to reconsider hiring this lady. Was not able to drop class on time. When trying to drop, workers at the office even said "now I know why you want to drop" lecture heavy, rushes everything, doesn't care if you learn or not. Honestly the bad reviews I should have listened to. DO NOT TAKE !!!!!
Mrs. Rahman is probably one of the worst teachers I have had in my whole life. She teaches as if she was teaching herself and not students. Her accent made it hard to understand her sometimes. If you walk out to pee and come back you will have missed the entire lesson. 1/10 Would not take again.
She is a good teacher, but she always busy (I feel). Don't expect get homework / test feedback from her. But the test reviews are good and she will post very detail solution at the blackboard. You need to finish online homework.
Inaccessible "teacher" both in and out of the classroom . There's no point in coming to class to ask for clarification/help on material as she acts as if students asking questions are a burden. Pick any other teacher if you want to learn and not just talked at for 40 minutes. It's telling when class participation goes up when there's a sub...
Though Professor Rahman is an exceptional mathematician, she's a horrible instructor. She runs through her lectures quickly and rushes through all her material. She's clearly upset when students answer wrong when they participate, making you not want to participate at all. Math has always been my favorite subject but I absolutely hated this class.
I love Math. However, she has been one of the hardest professors Ive had! Shes very sweet, and smart lady, but she speeds through the lessons! Her heavy accent doesnt make it easy either. She assigns outrageous amounts of homework, and loves to give surprise quizzes. Never used the book, but tells you to buy it. Terrible instructor!
Not going to lie the class can be a little hard at time, But she is a wonderful teacher that cares a lot about her students. At first she's a little awkward but later she starts to open up and is super funny. She is also very understanding and will work with you.
Does not give extra credit, does not give any type of makeup work and just does not teach well. I learned more on MyMathLab than in class. If you are not strong in math do not take this professor.
She is beyond nice, however she does not seem to care about personal situations. If it is not her way then no way at all. She does not like alternate ways of solving a problem. We never touched the book. She takes forever to put grades in and the grading consists of lots of online homework and 4 exams.
I have never had such a harsh grading experience in my life! This woman is something you want to steer clear of . She will gladly fail you for any reason. She has a very thick accent making it hard to learn. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
Professor Rahman was one of the worst imstructors I ever had. The textbook wasn't used, even though it was required. Her lectures were very rushed and it felt like she was teaching only herself and not the students. When solving problems, she only expects you to use her way, and not other ways. MyMathLab taught me way more than her
Lectures are rushed. She goes through at least 2 chapters every class. It's very hard to keep up, and she speaks the the students like they're stupid. Her final is accumulated and she expects you to remember every formula from the whole semester. Unless you have a photographic memory I wouldn't suggest taking this instructor.
Anyone who struggles with math may find this course hard, but it's easy to get an A. She assigns 2-4 homework assignments a week, all of which you can retake until you make a 100. She also gives out the passwords to reopen old assignments so you can go back and get the best grade possible. There are 4 tests and a final, so the homework matters.
Lectures to herself instead of the class. Doesn't seem to care if students learn or not. She talks incredibly fast and moves on to a completely new chapter before you can begin to understand what she was trying to teach. I do not recommend.
Ms. Rahman was the hardest teacher I have ever had at this campus. She taught some, but her tests didn't really seem to be based on the lectures. She was super sweet, and she genuinely cared, she just wasn't good at teaching. She gave lots of homework, and you had lots of chances, but the it was super difficult. No retests either...
I honestly hope to never take this class again. Although she is a sweet lady she does not explain things correctly. She spends to much time telling you what not to do and forgets to actually teach you what we are learning. We used view examples on our homework and she tells us not to, but honestly that is the only thing helping me pass the class.
If you're good at math or have a good memory of Algebra II from High School, you will not have a problem with this professor. If you require extra help, consider taking someone else.
I dropped the class due to the fact that I was going to help, and with the semester being online, I found it to be hard, and I like math. She work the problems out and expect us to understand the steps without throughly explaining what she is doing. For the most part I remembered from high school, if it wasn't for that I would have been harder
The prerecorded lectures were clear and easy to understand and Professor Rahman was always available during office hours. Use the homework and resources within the homework to learn the material. This is where the majority of your learning will take place! Do the homework & Test Reviews she puts up MULTIPLE TIMES! Test review PRACTICE is KEY!
This was one of the worst classes. The videos were a mess, I struggled to pass, and communication was lacking. I ended up requiring outside tutoring to help. I am sure this professor would be great for in person learning, but online classes left a lot to be desired.
Easy to understand when lecturing and is more than willing to help where help is needed
I personally loved this class. She is a bit hard to understand, but a very good teacher. Do your homework and reviews and you will for sure pass her class. Yes, there is a lot of homework because of online but she is always there to help.
Math is not my strong suit yet w/ Mrs. Rahman's online lectures & help from the online tutors, I made an A+ in this class. The reviews before the test are extremely helpful. What is on the Review will be on the test, so if you complete & study the review, you will pass with NP. She is quick to respond to emails & help in anyway. Recommended.
Easy class as long as you do your work and attend class. The way she teaches may be a bit tough to follow, but as long as you ask her where you're having trouble she'll definitely go through a problem step by step to help you.
The majority of your learning will be done on MyMathLab but always Prof Rahman is available during office hours! I met with her several times to go over tricky equations. There are also free tutors! Use them! But the easiest thing to do to make an A is to do the homework 2-3 times & PRACTICE EXAMS MANY (5-6) TIMES! I made 100's every time this way.
Prepare for a self-taught course in MML. Professor will post her own lectures, but they are often riddled with errors, long pauses where she seems confused and/or cut off early. Best to supplement with the "Author in Action" videos in MML that pertain to the chapter you are working on. MML reviews and homework are excellent preparation for tests!
She's an overall nice instructor and is super sweet. But she's hard to understand. she does work very fast and sloppy on the board. she constantly leaves the class puzzled all the time, and after class everyone would gather and say "what the hell was she teaching". if you go to tutoring after class, you'll learn 98% more than what she teaches.
IF YOU HAVENT DONE ALGEBRA IN YEARS, OR A RETURNING STUDENT DO NOT GET HER AS AN INSTRUCTOR. you will simply not understand her. I rely solely on tutoring. if you ask her a question, shell pause and look puzzled and then just suggest you to go to tutoring anyway to catch up. please get someone else or this will be a self taught course for yourself.
She strive to give us the best to succeed at her course !
She is so calm so you can listen to her confidently. If you got a concern dont matter to ask her.
Easiest algebra class I've ever had. She gives a lot of homework but honestly it's so easy. Don't procrastinate because I did and I got a B- so stay on top and get an A! She's really funny but if you're not listening you'll miss it. She lectures fast and wastes no time, you have days to submit your tests, and homework 100 every time
I really like Algebra but haven't taken it in years. She's great at teaching and made it to where I remembered everything super easy. She's an awesome lady and super kind. Would take another class she taught.
She's a very kind teacher. She tends to teach very fast and can get hard to keep up, so feel free to tell her to slow down. Even though the lectures may be confusing at times, I still recommend showing up to class and paying attention to what she is teaching. As long as you do the homework and the test reviews, you'll do fine in her class.
Shes really nice. She just goes a little too fast when teaching. ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND AND GO TO CLASS.
There is not a whole lot of homework but I always left it until the last day so I had to cram it. They are easy 100's though because it is on MML and you get unlimited attempts. The bulk of your grades are through tests, she gives you a review packet and they're the exact same questions just with different numbers. If you fail that's on you
A challenging teacher who is always patient and happy to slow down The grades are pretty straightforward. 4 Tests & HW, no extra credit. if you actually want to challenge yourself in math then this a professor who will give you that challenge with all of the recourses you need to succeed. In short, do the work, ask questions, don’t skip class
Pretty easy
Sometimes, the way Mrs. Rahman explains new concepts can be overly-complicated and hard to follow. I feel like she would be more effective at teaching if she made the effort to explain things more clearly and not get ahaed of herself. I know from speaking to my peers, they feel the same.
You will do well in this class if you pay attention. Her lectures are very in-depth and as long as you take notes and ask questions you will get it. Homework is typically assigned when she goes over that unit and it's due by the exam. She is great at answering questions and will even explain why you wouldn't do it the other way. Take her class!
Uses a textbook that provides lots of practice. The way she teaches can be confusing so ensure to take copious notes/attend tutoring. Majority of your grade is based on tests and there are very few (no test corrections or extra credit provided) so overall a very tough teacher and hard class. Though, she does take the time to answer questions.
I recommend attending every lecture as she doesn't take long to teach each unit. If you struggle to understand the materials or concepts during class, she has no problem pausing to give you a brief one-on-one to answer your question. She is very easy to talk to and is readily available almost anytime. Most of your grades will come from major tests.
Attendance and taking notes are important in this class. She goes over a lot of problems in class and often provides handouts explaining some of the concepts. She is very willing to answer questions and help you individually. If you go to class and do the MML problems and exam reviews (which she goes over in class) you can make an A !
Just a flat-out hard and bad teacher IMO. No extra credit, hard to follow lectures, attendance is mandatory. Homework is pretty easy. Pretty much zero one on one help either you get it or you don't.
She is super sweet! Would recommend this class to those who have already learned algebra in high school because the way she explains some concepts is a bit confusing. However, if you already know the basics of it, then it's just a refresher. 3 exams, a regular amount of HW, and she's lenient with HW due dates.
Rahman has been really nice and supportive towards me. She makes sure people are getting the topic we're talking about.
Really great professor, clear on the grading criteria and always accesible, if you try you wont fail, would definitely take her again
hard to understand and moves extremely fast.
I would never take this class again, if you are like me and have a hard time understanding math, this is a hard no. She contradicts herself constantly, is unorganized, and rude. If you have a hard time taking tests but do great on other assignments I would not do this class. Your grade depends on your test scores, on top of that no extra credit.
She speaks with a rather loud voice however that is her accent; so don't take any offense. She will help you with a problem if asked. She has moved the due dates for assignments to give us more time. Her class is partnered with a supplementary course if assistance is needed.
Rahman is a great algebra professor. I dislike math and im not great at it, but I definitely learned and developed great skills with her. There is a lot of homework and pop-quizzes here and there. You must be willing to work for that credit. If you try you will pass.
Very hard to understand. I'm pretty good at math and she still managed to confuse me at times. Miscommunicates often and doesn't understand that people come into the class with a variety of knowledge and understanding. If you're smart in this class be prepared to get called out often.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She does not give extra credit under any circumstances. She often contradicts herself. If you asked for help, she would confuse you even more. Sometimes she didn't want to teach and made us teach ourselves. Also once said that she wanted to "off herself" can't say the actual word but also throw herself 0ff the building.
Doesn't explain topics well, just kind of says things and expects you to understand it. If you take her class, you need to get comfortable teaching yourself things. Also, attendance isn't mandatory, but if you miss even ONE class, you will fall so behind that you dread coming back. Please be mindful before taking this class.
Professor Rahman is honestly a great professor if you're ready to give your best for her class, but if you plan to slack off then you're probably going to fail, since the key is reviewing a lot, and if you don't understand anything she'll gladly help explain the issue. She also gives out lots of test review that can help you prepare for the tests.
Worst professor ever! My entire class came together to tell her that we didn't understand the material and the test were hard and instead of slowing down she told us to suck it up word for word. Would not recommend her at all.
She'd go too fast while teaching and wasn't good at explaining or showing how to do problems.
She is VERY HARD! Be expected to learn everything she teaches in class! She has an accent, so it's hard to hear her. She will help you in class, but she expects you to go to the touring center to get help. If you are good at math, great, you'll have no issue. But those who aren't good luck if you have to take this class.
I took Calculus 3 with Professor Rahman. Although she had to leave early in the semester due to a family emergency, her class while she was there was excellent. The course was clearly organized, and the exams closely mirrored her review materials, making them very manageable. The homework was helpful, and she is an effective and engaging lecturer.
