very helpful. english is a little hard to understand. will help any way he can
Dr. Sharma can be a little hard to understand at first, but the class is very easy. Just take notes and do the online quizzes (which you can take as many times as you want) and you should do fine on the exams. You DO NOT have to buy the textbook! All the powerpoints are on blackboard and he doesn't take attendance, so you can skip class if you want
Dr. Sharma is a nice teacher. He has a lot of powerpoints and doesn't really teach. Some of the questions on the test are taken from the book and things that he doesn't cover in class. Makes the class really BORING because he just reads off the powerpoints. He writes random things on the board that just confuses you. I would not recommend Dr.Sharm
English is a little hard to understand, but got used to it after the first class or two... Very helpful and knowledgeable. Grades pretty easy, gives bonus points on exams. Will help any way he can, and is reasonable if you argue a grade, etc. Textbook not needed. Overall, very nice, helpful, a little boring.
Very hard to understand at first, but if you sit in the front you acquainted with his accent quickly. Very nice guy, plus the quizzes are online and he updates blackboard on time! I recommend him.
He is a nice guy. Can't control his classroom, and many people talk during class. Sit at the front of the classroom if you find that distracting. He gives you 3 chances to take his tests, which are online and open book. Pretty Easy class as long as you have the notes. Book is not necessary.
Sharma made biology interesting and now it is my favorite subject. At first he is hard to understand, but I found myself getting use to his accent quickly. His tests are online and you have 2 chances to take them. It is important you take notes and do well on his daily quizzes but the answers are straight from notes. Easy class! I recomend him!
Dr.Sharma is a wonderful teacher. Before I took his class, I was a little afraid how good of a teacher he would be, but he turned out to be a very knowledgeable and effective teacher. I recommend him.
Nilesh Sharma is very knowledgeable in microbiology. He helps those who want to learn and do good. His class is helpful if you want to join a health profession. Recommended.
I hoped for more. The anatomy part of his lectures was good, but it seemed not enough "plants as alternative therapeutics". Final exam had to be proctored and I still don't know where the information for it came from.
His english is HORRIBLE. If you have a hard time understanding accents, do not take his class. Buy the book, you will have to teach yourself the material for the most part.
Attendance is not required but I think in the end it is helpful. He knows who shows up and who doesn't, I think he is more willing to help those that show up. Sit in the front and he is easier to understand. he is very helpful to explain anything you don't understand and you still maintain your dignity asking questions. He wants you to pass.
Online course with recorded video lectures. Dr. S. has an accent but by no means difficult to understand; he is engaged with the topic and the students and despite the limitations of the medium, an engaging speaker.
Accent was a tad hard to understand, just goes up there and reads the powerpoints and not much else. Tests are all online and you can retake them for a better score which is helpful. The final was ridiculous and lowered my grade by an entire letter. Wasn't satisfied with this class at all!
Can barely understand him when he speaks, doesn't really teach you anything that you can't read of the powerpoint slides. Google is more helpful than the teacher. I would not recommend Sharma at all. And he makes the quizzes for random times of the day, and doesn't alert you when they begin or end. Not very consistent with them either.
Overall this is an easy class where attendance is not mandatory. I never used the textbook. All of the assignments are online. The final is what got me. You have to know every little detail from the whole semester. And his English is sooo hard to understand.
Dr. Sharma is a brilliant professor. His accent can be thick, but if you listen closely the first few classes, you'll get the hang of it. He wants to help students that he can tell are genuinely eager to pass, but will have little sympathy for you if you never show up to class. Lab is fun, but know the manual! Lots of content, requires studying
His class isn't too difficult if you know what he's looking for. All the quizzes and midterms are online. The final you have to take at the testing center. There are a ton of websites that have the questions and answers to the tests if you know where to look. He just recycles questions every year. I didn't go to class once and I got an A.
no use in going to class. very hard to understand what he was saying. test are hard
This was absolutely the worst teacher to take for this course. He was extremely hard to understand, his tests were very difficult, and he seemed unwilling to help at all. The final is comprehensive, 22 chapters long, and he won't give you a study guide. Just go ahead and expect to lose a letter grade after the final.
Don't even bother showing up to the class. Everything is done online. He is absolutely no help if you have questions. He rarely replies to emails and doesn't have consistent office hours. If you can avoid it, DO NOT take his class unless you want to teach yourself.
Awful teacher. You don't have to go to class and still make a good grade. Taught myself the information. He gave a study guide for the final that made it easy.
Going to class was not mandatory, and the assignments were simple. You just had to keep trying to answer the question until it was correct, & you get full credit. The test suck. His accent makes it difficult to really learn, so when it comes to test, you somehow have to just... know it.
Don't even bother going to class. His english is awful and he is extremely boring. You can do everything online on your own. This class may as well be considered an online class.
There is no point in actually going to his class. He puts all his power points on Blackboard and literally reads them over in class and doesn't go in depth with any of the chapters. The notes don't even correspond with his two midterms and final exam. I passed with a C only because I did all the LearnSmart assignments and they were easy 10 points.
His lectures are insanely boring. He's reasonably easy to understand despite his accent but he just reads the McGraw Hill powerpoints that come with the textbook. He's a nice man and a good lab teacher but avoid him for lectures.
Basically an online class. Only have been once and I am recieving a B with a few weeks left. Homework is easy A and all test answers are on quizlet!
I don't think Dr. Sharma is a bad professor at all. He's always on top of posting stuff on blackboard that will make it easier on us. He has given extra credit and study guides in order to help us. He always e-mails back right away with questions and tries to help as much as he can. Not much time has to go into this class and I do recommend him!
I don't think Dr. Sharma is a bad professor at all. He's always on top of posting stuff on blackboard that will make it easier on us. He has given extra credit and study guides in order to help us. He always e-mails back right away with questions and tries to help as much as he can.
Says he will give extra credit at the end, never did. Never took attendance. The final review was basically the exact final exam.
Attendance isn't mandatory but necessary to do well on tests. His lectures are incredibly boring and he reads directly off the powerpoint. He doesn't encourage class participation or questions so if you need help good luck.
Most of his exams are online. But the final is in class. Be sure to take notes on Learn- Smart assignments. Going to class has some benefits. Print out the power-point slides before class, they usually have the "pop quizzes" on them. He is hard to understand sometimes, but with going to class you get used to his accent.
You don't have to go to the class to pass. His lectures are long and he's really hard to understand, it's a ton of material but mostly everything is online. I probably would not take him again.
Dr. Sharma as a teacher is awful. It is almost impossible to understand him through his accent. He allows you to take tests online but they are all timed so don't even think about looking stuff up. His lectures seem to last for years and are in a lecture hall where you are suffering with about 50 other poor souls. Attend every class!
Dr. Sharma is a thorough teacher. He goes into detail and lots of his test questions reflect that. He really wants students to understand the core concepts of microbiology. He is always willing to help if you go to office hours. Honestly, he does have an accent, but you eventually grow used it and it's not even that big of a deal.
I'm not a biology major and never really liked the subject in high school but Dr. Sharma made the class pretty interesting! He's also super helpful if you go to his office hours and will give you extensions & stuff on hw if you have a legitimate excuse. He really tries to help non-biology people so definitely go to office hrs.
SOOO BORING!!!!! I hated that class like no other. All he did was read from the powerpoint nothing about it was interesting, if you don't like biology don't him!! Only good thing is he doesn't take attendance so you don't have to sit through the boring lectures all the time but he gives a pop quiz every once in a while so...
He's very rude but his lab is easy. Weekly quizzes all online, unlimited amount of attempts, pads you grade. His exams are basically questions from the quizzes and come straight from the study guide. But you have to ask for the study guide he wont just hand them out. You dont have to do the questions at the end of lab bc he doesnt even check them.
So, I went to the first lecture and never went again because he does not speak good English and reads directly off the power-points. He uploads them to blackboard so no point in going. Homework is just learn smarts. NO quizzes. 3 exams; the first two are online(can do with a buddy). The final is in class.
Doesnt give extra credit doesnt reopen missed assignments, test are online wouldnt recomend him.
Do not take his class if you aren't a biology major- maybe not even if you are! I had two bio major friends look at my coursework and they were shocked. So specific and such nit picky questions. It is such a boring online class and the material is so unclear. Stay away.
Literally terrible. Can't understand a single word he is saying. All he does is read off of the powerpoints so there's no point in going. Pop quizzes do show up every now and then. All of the homework is online on LearnSmart which you can just click the read more option to easily find the answer. I do not recommend taking his course.
He is very hard to understand. The lectures can drag on. I stopped going to this class 2 weeks in and received a B.
He is the worst! He is so hard to understand and he is very intimidating. He lacks drive to help students, I emailed him once asking questions and he literally sent back "ok". Do not expect him to help you ever. He won't do anything.
Unless you enjoy having a professor who reads directly off of PowerPoints and doesn't provide any feedback to his students, then I'd stay away from him. He isn't a terribly guy, but the class definitely was. 2 online midterms, and a final in the testing lab. Weekly learnsmart saved us all. I wouldn't recommend.
He does not speak clear english AT ALL, I went to his class about twice all semester. Yes, all of his notes and quizzes and homework is online but most likely you will fail the final if you don't go to class. But you can't go to class when you can't understand him. It's a lose lose situation.
He does certain things well, like updating blackboard and grades fairly quickly. But he also does things not-so-well, like never answers his emails on time, isn't effective in lecturing, and doesn't really care to help his students. I wouldn't recommend, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. 2 tests, final, and weekly learnsmarts.
He doesn't speak clear English and his lectures are straight off of his power points. I wouldn't recommend his class for anyone!
He was very hard to understand and he went very quickly. Tests would have information on them that we never learned in class.
I'm an online student with him. I've been trying to make sense of his inconsistent instructions via email for the last few days with no success. he either wont email back or his email doesn't address the issue and makes no sense. So i came here to see if anyone mentioned his English wasn't good. low and behold that's the number 1 complainant here.
Can't understand him very well, however all of the assignments are online except for the final, which he provides a review for. I got a B and only went to class a handful of times.
Not a fan. Difficult to understand. Only took 3 grades and they were all exams.
I wouldn't recommend this class to my worst enemy. I emailed him about a PowerPoint in class and he didn't reply. He is not reachable outside of class. He is not very tech savvy at all. There are only three grades in the class so it basically sets you up for failure.
You cannot understand what he is saying half of the time. He is rude, does not respect his students, and contradicts himself half of the time. If you have this class without the lab, I would do all the work online instead of actually going to class, because it's easier to learn on your own.
Sharma is very hard to understand, and his class only consists of lectures. It is evident that English is not his first language. The only grades in his class are three tests. The test questions used are generally not covered in the material.
This class was the hardest class I took, the exams are not good and you only take three or four and that is your whole grade. I withdrew from the class so it wouldnt hurt my gpa. The other Biology classes (120 and 122) are better.
Exams are all online except for the final, which is in class. You can take the midterm exams (which are word-for-word from the powerpoints) on your personal computer. He utilizes TopHat in class for pop quiz type questions, participation points, and attendance - easy extra points. Learnsmarts over every chapter are kinda long.
I am in his online class right now. I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice on how to prepare and do well on the final?
This guy is terrible. He has poor grammar in his powerpoints and in real life. He doenst try to elaborate, he doesnt make sure students are engaged/ following him. He will not answer questions in class. If its impossible for you to drop this class hire a tutor, MAKE SURE TO DO LEARNSMARTS, and pray. pray hard.
Although it is difficult to understand Sharma, his class is not very demanding. Show up to class participate in the TopHat random popup questions in class, do the online LearnSmart assignments & go over the review for the final and you should be fine. I unfortunately did not enjoy this class & do not recommend him however he is the easier professor
Sharma isn't terrible. Everything is basically online except the final and attendance is not mandatory so I went the first week and didn't go back till the final exam. If you study for the final you should be fine. all tests are online except the final so I'm not saying cheat but it is easy to cheat. all around not terrible and i would recommend.
Don't bother contacting him for questions. He won't reply.
Micro is a difficult course no matter who your professor is. I was nervous to take this course but overall it wasn't awful. Although this definitely wasn't the most enjoyable course, Sharma is really passionate about teaching. If you go to class and actually listen (instead of playing on your phone/laptop) you will learn a lot of information!
Very nice guy. Willing to help you out if you ask.
go to class, participate, and study and you will do fine. Sharma is a nice guy and is willing to help you achieve the grade you want.
It is extremely difficult to understand Professor Sharma, I do not recommend anyone taking his class. He is very test heavy and lecture heavy. This class is graded only by 3 things. Dont try to email him because he will not respond.
Awful. Not worth your time. Everything, from the homework to powerpoints are from the book, but the tests are completely random facts from the book. Not what the book deems important.
I have him right now and it is so hard to understand him you might as well drop or switch to another professor. It is a complete waste of your time and I just took our first exam today and he gave everyone a study guide but NONE of the questions where on the test. Everyone failed it is clearly a sign that he CAN NOT TEACH!
Absolutely worst teacher I've ever had throughout all my years at WKU. You can't understand a single thing he says-- extremely heavy accent. The only reason I kept coming to class was because he would periodically have us write our names down (pop quiz as he calls it) and turn it in. I gave up attempting to understand his accent. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!
The class is amazing and I recommend it for biology students. I learned a lot of things which helped me for pre-med. The course only based on 3 exams so make sure you study the lectures carefully with taking notes.
I do not recommend taking this class. His lecture style is not helpful. As far as a teacher goes, he is not worried about the students learning as much as he is getting through the massive amounts of information.
This class is terrible. Professor Sharma is difficult to understand, there is minimal feedback from him. He does not answer emails and his tests are very difficult. Nearly everyone in my class failed the first exam and only after we all failed did he offer to reach out with a zoom meeting. Only take this class if you plan on getting a C or less.
Extremely hard class. There are only 3 exams in this course, and this professor does not help what so ever when you are struggling. Do not recommend taking this class
Dr. Sharma is very difficult to understand and gives little to no feedback at all. Every class is straight lectures and theres only 3 tests all semester. The content is also very fast paced and difficult and Dr. Sharma gives no extra help outside the powerpoints.
There are 3 exams, classes are lecture heavy. He says study the 4, 50, slide PowerPoints for the exams if you want to pass. The first exam had an average of 70 percent, and instead of owning up to his poor teaching, he blamed it on the people who do not show up to his class, regularly, for lowering his class average. He is rude one on one.
Honestly, I have idea how this man still has a job. He's impossible to understand and he provides little to no help. He never replies to emails, which sucks if you're struggling. The best way to pass is by not attending his lectures, everything he says are on the powerpoints, and are easier to understand. He's rude and cannot admit to his mistakes.
Dr. Sharma is an effective professor, and he gets the job done. He is a fair teacher, and his class is exactly what he says it will be (no surprises). There wre multiple options for extra credit throughout the semester, and his tests came directly from the lecture material. Partial credit isnt given on homework, so don't forget them.
This class was all in all a terrible experience. You can't understand a single word he says. I stopped showing up after the first few lectures, because all the material you learn in class is accessible through blackboard. He is non-negotiable and careless. I missed an assignment due to the passing of my father and I had to beg for an extension.
Although Mr. Sharma is very hard to understand, his class isn't too bad. He gave a few extra credit assignments. usually the questions for the tests are on the powerpoint that he provides. Warning: his class is only out of 400 points and 300 of them are tests, so you need to study.
Sharma is such a cute sweet man. I attended maybe 2 classes because you fully can't understand him but the tests are fairly easy and come straight from the PowerPoints mainly made up of the practice questions in them. the homeworks are McGraw hill. Overall an interesting and relatively easy class.
Overall it was a pretty easy class. Sharma however is an awful professor. You cannot understand him at all and when you try to listen you end up just getting really confused. I did better on tests when I didn't go to class and just studied the powerpoints he provides.
Micro Biology is a hard class in general. You won't get a good grade if you skip class (like I did the first week or so). Sharma is difficult to understand, but if you follow along the PPT with his lectures, you'll attain the information easier. He's a great guy and cares about what he's teaching as well as his students.
Horrible is the only thing I can say. He is difficult to understand and I basically had to teach myself everything. Even if you ask him a question you don't get a direct answer or a clear understanding and end up more confused. He walked out mid-lecture once too without saying anything then came back like 10 minutes later.
DOES NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS, CAN NOT UNDERSTAND
Do not take this class here. Take it as a summer class at community college. He does not offer any help nor can you understand him. The tests are absolutely nothing like the power points. Studying for 7 hours a day can hardly get you a C
He is sweet but very hard to understand. You are going to HAVE to study for his tests (by using his PowerPoints) he is a very tough grader and if you don't do well on the tests, you will fail. He doesn't take attendance and posts his powerpoints. You also have weekly homework that is 50-60 concepts and they only count for 7-10 points. Good luck!!!
If you take this class online.....DONT- it was horrible. I had an A all semester and then he made everyone take the final at a computer testing place off campus and i studied so hard for it just for none of it to be any of the material he gave. So in result i failed and went from an A+ to a C- and dropped my gpa. Absolutely disgusting
The tests have nothing to do with the lecture, you have to read the online textbook to understand literally anything. Don't recommend
You do not learn anything in class that you couldn't learn by just reading the powerpoints. The exams are hard and you have to study everything from that unit or you'll definitely miss stuff. Study the powerpoints.
I would not suggest him as a teacher. He is so hard to understand, and his tests are hard. It was impossible to even get tutoring because everyone else was doing the same thing to pass. He is a nice person just not a great teacher. If you are better at teaching yourself through PowerPoints, then this would be your class. Otherwise do not take him.
The class overall is not hard. You have to put in the work to receive your grade. He is very hard to understand. I did not attend class regularly, and learned the material on my own and did just fine. You cannot slack or you won't pass!! All the material on the test are straight from the lectures.
I feel awful, cause this guy seems super smart, but no matter how close you sit to him, you CANNOT understand what he says. His class material overall isn't that hard, but make sure you go over every bit of material before a test, because his lectures do not prepare you for what's really on there.
Professor just uploads PowerPoints and then makes exams for them.
This class is easy if you do the John Poole's (his assistant) quizizz prior to each test. He creates these and emails it to all of Dr. Sharma's students. It is very easy to gain activity points by completing each week's Smartbook assignment. Just make sure to take your time with these and pay attention to Smartbook and John Poole's Quizizz.
He is not nice by any means. I retook this class online and did ten times better than I did in person. If you take this online though be prepared for passive aggressive emails. He randomly changed one of the homework due dates even though they had been the same time all year. I asked him for grace to do that one assignment and he said I didn't care
The only way I passed this class was because of the TA, John Poole, and the PASS sessions he had. Sharma is a great guy he just is not understandable at all. Good luck!
Pt. 1 I felt bad for Sharma at first because everyone was making fun of his accent. I would stick up for this man because someone's nationality should not determine them as a professor but I was wrong. His thick Indian accent does make it hard to understand content. I wasn't retaining anything so I taught myself all of the material from my dorm.
The smartbook concept checks take you about 2-3 hours. I unfortunately overslept my final for this course. I take full responsibility for my actions but when I rushed to KTF to talk to him about what had happened he belittled me and called me unprofessional. He full-on laughed in my face. He is not a nice man. All I have to say is good luck
Very few things to be graded on. Three tests, each 25% of the grade. However, the material is laid out on the slides. It is a lot of information so studying is necessary. Sharma is not as hard to understand as others say he is, go in with an open mind and sit towards the front and you should be fine. He is very passionate about microbiology.
DO NOT TAKE THIS ONLINE!! His exams are NOT based on his slides. I earned an A in anatomy 1, so I know how to study, but there were so many questions that couldn't be found anywhere. When I asked him where the answers could be found, he said they're in the slides, but could not tell me where. He said, “I fear you do not read between the lines.”
All of the exams were pulled from the powerpoints and concept questions. Lecture was not helpful because he could not be understood. I still learned a lot from the exams and Smartbook assignments, but the class was made much more difficult and time-consuming because I couldn't understand him.
Dr. Sharma is a great professor with a passion for microbiology. To be successful in the class, come to the lectures, follow along while you're there by taking notes, and just listen well. This class is not hard; just study what is gone over in the lectures and you'll be completely fine.
300 points from three tests and 100 homework points
Sharma's BIO207 class can be challenging, but with a willingness to engage and use helpful study tools like unstuck AI, it's manageable. Lectures cover the core material, so attending and reviewing the slides is key. The exams are tough, but doing the homework and practice questions helps a lot.
Honestly class is mainly difficult just because of his accent so it is not really his fault. You do not get ANY 2nd chances in this class so don't even email if you forget something. Only reason i passed is because i had a student teacher most classes don't. Good luck
There is no point in going to class other than test days. John Poole was a life saver and if you do his kahoots you will do well in the class.
Don't bother asking questions, he won't answer. He wants us to use the slides to study, which wouldn't be a problem, if there wasn't 60 slides per presentation, and four to five presentations per exam. If you ask him what you can do better he'll just say "read the slides". He's just not very helpful if you're having a hard time in his class.
it's an interesting class! it's lecture so you dont really have to go and he post the slides on blackboard. you just can't really understand him.
I found the professor to be okay, and the class was easy enough. Of course, you have to study quite a bit, but everything he goes over was normally on the tests. Homeworks can be long, but also useful for the tests/exams. Overall, this class is not so bad, just study and go over lectures!
You cannot understand him at all, his accent is very thick. A complete lecture class, nothing else is done in class. He doesn't take attendance. He reads straight off of a powerpoint. Exams are hard, unless you go to the pass sessions. Expects you to learn from 60 slide PowerPoints and will add an entire chapter to the exam 2 days before.
I am unsure how this professor is still a professor! His class was beyond hard and he told me had no time to assist me! He would not help me! Sad he was so hateful! Did not care about my success! Only 3 tests ! It's great if you know biology!
If you want to learn another language I highly suggest you take this class. Very hard to understand. Did not show up to any lectures because I could take the time to teach myself which was so much better than trying to focus on what he is saying rather than the content which he reads word form word on the slides.
Idk man, this class just confuses me, just read the whole book.
He is very hard to understand, most people don't even go to his class because of this. The homework assignments are pretty long but the class is easy if there is a TA to help. There is also no extra credit opportunities.
I took his class online but tbh if you just fully focus on and study the powerpoints you will do just fine
