Sweet guy, will help you understand the principles behind the experiment as well as the procedure.
Doesn't readily give reviews or practice tests/quizzes on elearning unless you ask him to (even then, they're not helpful since they're not his, they're from other professors). Elearning notes do not match lecture notes. Rushes over practice problems & doesn't go into detail. Impossible to understand unless you've read before the lecture.
He requires a lot more work than other professors. Quizzes incorporate previous concepts so get a good grip on them while you can! Most of his quiz problems require multiple steps (for example, converting projections into a 3D model before predicting the products). Can't say much on tests bc they're standardized. Just do all the practice problems
Professor Panapitiya is super eager to help if you show the initiative to come to his office hours or ask questions. He may be a relatively new teacher, but it is clear he has a firm grasp on the material and is more than happy to share it with his students. You do have to work for your grade though. SUMMARY: Super nice and helpful
OCHEM is notoriously a difficult course. What helped me was his in-class examples, drawings, and models. He is willing to work with you if you see him during office hours. He is new but really knows his stuff. The material is all fresh in his mind. Do his recommended hw, practice quizzes and tests. Reading the textbook is ESSENTIAL!
O Chem is a difficult course. You can't just expect to sit in lecture and be able to do the quizzes or tests without any effort. Practice problems are really helpful because they help you grasp the concept and sometimes are on the tests! He's really helpful during his office hours if you put in the effort to practice the concepts.
Quantitative Methods in Analysis: Expect a lab report due every week. Go to class and take notes to know whats on the exam. Do assigned practice problems and take the time to get really accurate results (part of your grade). Go to office hours or watch a youtube video if you don't understand something from Gen Chem.
Nice guy, just do the prelabs and show up on time. His quizzes are TOUGH. Read the recommended notes (and the essays) and pay attention to details. Just get through the labs honestly.
Dr. Panapitiya genuinely cares and wants his students to do well. At the beginning of the semester, he seemed scattered but then he started doing more practice problems with us in class that were really helpful. Still, I had to do a lot of self-studying which is a given in ochem. Asking him questions during his office hours was reallly helpful.
Dr. Panapitiya is a really nice professor! He explains everything incredibly clearly during workshop so you won't be confused during lab, and he's always open to questions. He's pretty chill. Also, he's adorable. Would recommend.
He's a good professor, probably one of the best for this class. But there are other professors that may be better, from what I hear. As long as you do practice problems (really focus on getting them right), you can do well in the class. Just pay attention, and get questions sorted, don't wait until the last minute to get help.
Panapitiya is a great professor, extremely helpful during office hours and very thorough in his examples. However a lot of the work is on you so you must understand the material beyond the easier example from class. Do all assigned practice problems if you expect to get an A+ or even an A. It's so easy to get tricked or forget a reagent so practice
Class is very labor-some, however the Professor is very nice. He is one of the best lecturers for this course. Teacher is willing to help you individually if you ask him. SI sessions are good too. If you want an A, do all the problems you are given for homework (not for a grade). TRY TO DO EXTREMELY WELL IN THE FIRST UNIT. Study 10-14 hrs a week
He is my favorite professor at UTD. I took ochem 1 with him. It was not easy, but he is always there to help, and his slides are pretty good. He does a lot of practice in class, so if you do not show up.. do not expect to do well on the tests. His quizzes are pretty rough, but compare to those the exams are really easy.. so it is a good way to prep
Dr. Panapitiya is one of my favorite professors by far- the class is challenging (Obviously, it's Ochem II), but he does absolutely everything humanly possible to help you succeed. He holds review sessions, and is the most accessible professor I have ever had. Also the most caring. His quizzes are very fair. Do yourself a favor and take him.
I took Dr. Panapitiya for both Organic Chemistry I and Organic Chemistry II. His lectures are amazing and he does a lot of example problems in class. Attendance is not mandatory but to do well you need to show up. He has a lot of office hours and loves helping students. He even held weekly review sessions almost every week for Ochem II.
his quizzes are difficult compared to that of other professors, and there are certain questions on the exam that you just see and you're like... yup panapitiya probably put that on there. his lectures are good, but the textbook problems and outside resources (ex. pltl) will help you more. also he can make confusing mistakes.
ochem is hard no way around it. dr p definitely made it much easier through his clear and engaging lectures. I've heard his tests are slightly harder than other profs but he is by far the best lecturer and answers questions in office hours. reading the book isn't required but id recommend it and do the book practice probs he gives. go to class!!!
one of the best professors i've ever had. i didn't do so well in the first unit so i started going to office hours and it helped a TON. he really cares about his students and does everything in his power to make sure you succeed! ofc there is only so much he can do and ochem is a tough course but if you work hard you will be fine.
Dr. Pan was probably the best O Chem professor in this semester. He knows what he is talking about and his lectures are really good. If you don't get it in class, his office hours are known to be good but I never went. Use your other resources like PLTL, tutoring center, and old exams
An amazing lecturer. I believe this was his first time (or the one of the first) teaching O Chem 1 and I understood it completely. He presents mechanisms to help understanding and remembering the reactions, which helped a lot. I have 0 knowledge in gen chem but I made A+ with points to spare in his O chem 1 class. (NOT A FREE CLASS, But great prof)
O Chem itself is a difficult subject to grasp, but with the correct guidance and determination there is no reason not to excel in this course. Dr. Panapitiya cares much for his students and engages them during lecture through his 'tricky' examples and practice problems. Reach out to him, have a study group, have the DROPBOX and you will do great!
He is so thorough in his lectures&makes a difficult subject easier to comprehend. As with any upper level class, the textbook is a MUST. Go to class,do the assigned txtbk problems, look up online extra problems. His quizzes are harder than the other profs, but they prepare you way better for exams. He is approachable and helpful outside of class
He really cares about his students! I'd recommend coming to class even though it's not mandatory. His quizzes are sometimes similar to the practice ones he posts online. He's a real gem.
Dr. Panapitiya is a great lecturer and person. He is extremely proficient in the subject. Organic chemistry is considered difficult to begin with, but through the practice problems he gives in class, understanding the information is much easier. He prepares you well for the exams with the quizzes. He truly is a gem! One of the best profs I've had.
Dr. Pan is awesome. He's the best ochem prof. He explains concepts very well and he practices questions in class that help prepare you for the exam. He's very friendly and accessible during his office hours. He gives back points on exams and is nice to the fact that he even slightly bumps up if you're on the border of a letter grade. Take him.
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER. TAKE HIM AND YOU WILL LOVE OCHEM. HE'S THE BEST PROFESSOR AT UTD. HE'S UTDs BEST ASSET. I LOVE OCHEM BECAUSE OF HIM.
an angel in human form
He is not a good lecturer at all! He does not know how to explain any concepts so you'll end up teaching yourself. His quizzes are extremely hard so they hurt your overall grade. The only good thing is that he cares so he tries really hard. He's just horrible at teaching OChem.
Dr. Pan is an amazing professor. He is great at lecturing, and clearly describes the information, making sure to answer student questions along the way. He is accessible out of class and if you show interest and put in effort, he really cares about your success. Definitely take his class, you won't regret it!
Ochem is a hard subject naturally, but Dr. P does such a good job of explaining concepts. He gives tons of practice problems and goes in depth into the chapters. You have to read the textbook regardless of the prof. Quizzes are more difficult but they are representative of the exams, so they help you score higher in the long run. Very good prof.
Dr. Pan is not a good lecturer at all. He skips around in the slides so there's no real order or logic to his lectures and you end up more confused than if you had just studied the textbook/resources yourself. Everyone says he's really nice, but if you can't make office hours, there's no real reason to take his class.
Dr. Panapitiya cares a lot about his students and always available if you need help. Ochem is not an easy class, but with hard work and his guidance you will make an easy A. His lectures are easy to follow and his slides are more than enough to do well. ( you won't need the book). He is an amazing teacher and a great mentor.. just get to know him
Good lectures, grading and difficult is fair, Dr. Pan is enthusiastic about helping you learn the material and giving feedback about your work inside and outside of the lab. Nature of the class means you will need to show up and put in the effort to get good data, have proper lab technique, and write decent lab reports to succeed.
Great Professor, was easy to reach outside of class. Was willing to work with my work schedule. It was a hard class, but he tried to make it easy to learn. While attendance is not mandatory, it is organic chemistry, so show up if you want to pass
Awesome professor - really cares about his students and is willing to help them truly understand the material. Was personally invested our success and didn't hesitate to spend extra time explaining difficult concepts. Would recommend for any OChem classes at UTD.
Really good at explaining and gives many examples in class preparing you for quizzes and exams! He cares for every student and it nice when you visit office hours.
Dr. Pn was able to easily explain the topics, was really prompt and had timed out his lectures, very professional, was available to meet with outside of class considerably more than other ochem professors, explained topics really clearly and told you exactly how to do well on his tests. nothing was a surprise.
Dr. Pan is my favorite teacher/professor of all time! His lectures are very clear and he always comes to each student to answer questions or tell them to focus - something that is so rare these days. He really cares about you! Take him and you are in good hands!!! Best. P/s: come to his office hours, he will for sure help you as much as possible
He goes through a lot of practice problems in class and covers everything you need to know for tests. Office hours are super helpful and he's willing to give back points if needed.
You will NEVER meet a more legendary OCHEM professor than him. What a legend.
Dr. Panapitiya is really passionate about what he is teaching and explains things in a way that understandable. This class is weighted heavily on your lab reports, but there are only a few quizzes, a midterm, and a final. The experiments were really enjoyable and made the class worth taking!
Dr. Pan really cares about his students. He often goes out of his way to make sure we completely understand something. No matter what I asked him during office hours, he was always so kind & understanding. I suggest reading OChem as a 2nd Language during the course. Go to office hours, PLTL, look at old tests & you will do great. Fast grader too!
Dr. Panapitiya is a really good professor, he goes out of his way to make sure you understand. Grading: Definitely recommend going to class, doing the suggested practice problems, & going to his office hours. The exam reviews & recitation reviews are very similar to the exams. I also recommend joining PLTL. You can easily make an A if you do this.
Dr Pan is the best professor I have ever had. He is VERY accessible outside of class and always tries his very best to make class fun and interesting. I recommend him 100% to anyone afraid of organic chemistry
Dr Pan is one of the best Ochem professors here at UTD. His Ochem class becomes very interesting and easy to understand because of his excellent explanations. I have seen a lot of good ochem professors but none of them are so good at explaining the material like Dr. Pan. He is hilarious and extremely friendly and patient with questions. Recommend!!
Dr. Pan is a great prof. The class is difficult because it is Organic Chemistry, not because of the professor. He tries to break things down easy for us to understand. Just make sure to give yourself plenty of time to study and do practice problems for all of the quizzes and exams. This year they changed it to where there was no drop exam though..
This is the best professor for O- chem at UTD, hands down. He truly wants to help his students succeed. TAKE HIM He's the reason i got an A+. Heres what to do to get an A: READ THE BOOK with the slides and after every class period. do the problems in the book --> the exams have similar questions, and it REALLY helps you prepare.
Dr. Panapathiya explains concepts but is a bit disorganized in doing the problems in class. He wants to help you but the test is a centralized kind of test where all the professors come together and contribute the questions thus making the exams impossible. The questions on exams are nothing like the ones he does during the class.
Even though he is a good guy this is an exceptionally hard class. He hardly does anything to help you get good grades. Don't be deceived by the reviews, he ain't that great. He can do better than this. He does not give enough problems and expects you to understand and work problems on your own. Take OCHEM at the community college instead.
Dr. Pan is awesome. This subject doesn't come easy to most people, that's the nature of the course, however, Dr. Pan does everything in his power to help combat that. He gives plenty of practice for his students to help prepare them for their tests and also is very accessible outside of class. 10/10 would take again, even if OCHEM is a drag.
As someone who's attended lectures from every available ochem professor at UTD, Dr. Panapitiya is arguably the best ochem professor you can get from the ochem department. He explains concepts really well and the practice problems he gives in class prepare you for the difficulty of the exams. Go to his office hours, they help so much.
This class requires a lot of work, especially with the pre-labs and writing lab reports. You are given one drop (lowest lab report), and you have a few exams that require basic definitions and calculations. Since the TA grades everything, make sure to get to know them! Dr. P is very accessible outside of class. He is super caring and helpful!
He is a LEGEND. He is very accessible outside of class - so make sure to utilize this to ask him questions! Hes very helpful and will go out of his way to answer your questions! His lectures are organized and very informative; however, reading the textbook will further help you understand the info. Put in the work and youll get an A!
Graded by only 3 exams with one drop, 5 quizzes with one drop, final cumulative exam. Lectures are important for initial concept and problem solving questions later memorizing. Slides are notes from book which summarize things needed to know. Discusses problems in class and in office to clarify exam questions. Previous year questions given for help
Ochem 2 Graded by only 3 exams with one drop, 5 quizzes with one drop, final cumulative exam. Lectures not as important as ochem 1 as slides which are from book can be memorized and exams can be dealt with application. 80% is A. one quiz and one exam dropped for both ochem 1 and 2.
Fantastic professor. The class is difficult not because of the professor but the material itself. Be sure to attend lectures and practice, practice, practice. You have to practice with organic chemistry. Lectures are very helpful and straightforward, and he can even be funny sometimes. He is also extremely helpful outside of class. Take him!
Dr. Pan is a great professor. His lectures are easy to understand, he goes through a bunch of examples, and he always makes a really good effort to help you if you just ask. I think his quizzes are a little harder, but don't let that to deter you. He's a great teacher and even nicer when you get to know him.
Dr pan is the best instructor ever... his lecture powerpoints are enough if you want to scrape by with an A- but going to class will get you an A because he's THAT good of a lecturer. He's got fun lectures and is really really nice. His quizzes are a little harder than wije but easier than cortes/ahn. RECOMMEND!!
I love Dr. Pan! Encouraging, gives you benefit of the doubt, gives points back on exams. Efficient, thorough coverage of the material! Ochem II is easier than Ochem I but BEWARE OF THE FINAL! If you underestimate it, you can say goodbye to your A. Pan posts practice exams and quizzes, something other profs don't do. Made me want to attend class.
While Dr. Pan's lectures didn't really gel with my learning style, he was still a fantastic professor. He can go a bit fast at times but is extremely accessible in office hours and after class to answer all of your questions. He gives ample practice problems, quizzes, and resources. He genuinely cares about our success! Overall I loved him.
He helped me understand OChem a lot better. Gives a lot of practice questions! The BEST Ochem professor at UTD, take him!!!
He is a wonderful professor, but sometimes I feel he goes a bit too in depth and covers material you don't need to know for the exam, making things kinda confusing. Still, his lectures are enjoyable and he is such a kind person. His quizzes are harder than others but he is one of the better choices.
Dr. Panapitiya is so sweet and does a really good job of explaining the concepts for Ochem II. His office hours were really helpful and lectures consisted of a ton of practice problems. The quizzes and exams were relatively straightforward with the help of old practice exams. The final was a bit hard, but an A is still doable if you put the effort.
Im taking his online Organic Lecture right now and he makes his videos so easy to understand. You don't have to worry about remembering basic chem cause he will give you a review. He is a REALLY good professor. He teaches Orgo- so well that it makes you want to cry LESS in your sleep! So if you're planning to take online chemistry, TAKE HIM!!!
OCHEM is an extremely tough class and you can't pass without studying. The professor is super nice, I would recommend doing all the practice tests in order to do good.
If you're taking ochem this is your guy
He is an absolute god. He is so kind and such a good teacher. Class was so stress free. I fell in love with O chem bc of him. He is so inspirational. Always willing to help students. Covers material so well that quizzes/tests are just like more practice. Preps you well for exams. No surprises on exams he goes over everything. He is simply the best.
He's a great professor for both people who want to just get through the course or for those who are deeply interested in chemistry. He goes through problems in depth and is available for additional help. Dr. Pan is the man!
This man is a godsend. Ive never seen somebody so passionate and excited about what they teach and convey it so well. He can be a bit oblivious to the difficulty of the course sometimes but he tries his hardest to help students understand concepts and trick questions in ochem. If there's one key to this class its practice practice practice!!!
He is the sweetest most caring professor ever. He's an AMAZING lecturer. He breaks down complex concepts so easily and makes everything super easy to understand. You can tell he is so passionate about what he teaches and genuinely wants every single one of his students to succeed. You can easily get an A with him, take him he's the best!
Dr. Pan is amazing! His pre-recorded lectures are the best, but definitely attend his in-person class, cuz he does lots of practice problems. He's really caring, and is willing to help you with any questions that you have after class and during his office hours. Final exam replaces lowest exam, and highest quiz replaces lowest. Definitely take him!
I owe Dr. Pan my life. He is a fantastic professor for OChem. There's a lot of material, so be prepared to work. His lectures are clear, and he is always willing to help you through email, during office hours, or during recitations. The grade is based on 4 quizzes and 3 exams, so do your best on them. I will take him again forOChem II.
I would die for Dr. Pan. He is literally the best. He is the best ochem professor at UTD hands down. If you go to his office hours he will explain literally everything to you. His lectures are amazing and his exams are fair. If you put in the effort you will do super well in his class. Love Dr. Pan make sure you take him for ochem
Dr. Pan is THE best professor I've ever had. His lectures are amazing, but the best part about his class is that he is always available during office hours. He will try his best to explain concepts and make them easy for the class to understand. I could not recommend him more. TAKE HIM FOR OCHEM and you won't regret it.
Dr. Pan cares so much about his students understanding ochem. He also cares about our well-being and mental health. He hosts so many office hours to help us understand material before exams.
It's been a while since I have had a professor who has this much patience and will always smile when you ask him to repeat the same thing a 100 times. Class is content-heavy but he breaks it down easily in lectures. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! You will be prepared for the exams if you do the practice problems he posts and is overall a great professor!
Professor Pan made Ochem I and II so fun and easy to understand! His lectures, recitations, and office hours are the best! He's also so kind and made accommodations for students fasting in Ramadan and allowed them to pray Maghrib during the final exam. I definitely recommend him!
the best professor ive ever taken for both o chem 1 and 2
Amazing professor! Be warned that O chem can be a difficult class because it is very different from content you have probably learned before. Dr. Pan does an amazing job going through content and does multiple examples. Go to class, do the released past exams multiple times, and ask questions; you should be good!
Kind, wonderful, amazing, easy grader. Aside from the TA in the lab, he is the best prof I have ever had. This class is way too easy, and you barely have to do much besides doing the lab and submitting. Absolutely recommend him!!
Dr. Pan is an excellent professor - he takes complex subjects and teaches them in a simple manner while keeping the class engaged. His quizzes prepare you well for the tests and doing the practice exams is the best practice for anything in Ochem.
Dr. Pan is the absolute goat, take him if you can get a spot in his class. His lectures are absolutely amazing, he keeps them funny and engaging. His quizzes are just a little tough but they prepare you super well for the exam. If you do well on his quizzes, then you're set for the exams. Go to his office hours, he is caring and helpful. TAKE HIM!!
Ochem itself is a difficult class, but Dr. Pan is a great professor and makes it manageable. Make sure you are staying on track with the class and start practice problems from the practice exams, practice quizzes, and recitations as early as possible! His quizzes are harder than other professors though, so study well for them.
Dr. Pan is probably one of my favorite professors at UTD. People try hard to get into his sections! He goes above and beyond to help students succeed. I went into ochem terrified and now it's my favorite class because he teaches so well and turns it into a subject that anyone can do well in! If you can take him I 300% recommend it.
Dr pan is hands down the best chem professor at UTD
This professor taught ochem very well. I came into the class scared of the subject and left excited to learn more. He offers office hours all of the time and is always willing to help.
Dr. Pan is by the best Professor in the Chemistry department, his quizzes really prepare you for the exams, after studying for the quizzes I didnt rlly need to study much for th exams, that's how good the quizzes hep with exams. Ignore any 4.0 reviews he has, all the 5.0 reviews are the relevant ones, the 4.0 ones just didnt study well
I love Dr. Panapitiya so much, he is truly a professor that cares so much for his students, he is very funny and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He is objectively the best Ochem professor you'll find, if you find an open spot in his class, DO NOT HESITATE, TAKE THIS MAN!!!!!
I wish he taught more courses. He made me wish ochem was a major! VERY accessible outside of class (office hours are your best bet, they're so helpful!), extremely caring about his students. His quizzes are harder than some of the other professors but he prepares you well for them and the exams. 11/10 would recommend! ATTEND CLASS and take notes.
This class is very difficult and lectures can't carry you through it- you need to study a LOT outside of class. Because of this, the professor doesn't matter much. However, Dr. Pan is sweet and his lectures are engaging. He goes over lots of practice problems and mechanisms. He can be all over the place though, I often get lost during lectures.
he genuinely cares and wants you to understand all concepts! he is always available to help even outside office hours! he is generous with bonus points and understanding! take him if you struggle with chemistry!
An amazing professor who cares about students-- not just their grades but also their health and wellbeing! He explains concepts so patiently and gives you absolutely everything you need to do well in the class. Took him for Ochem 1 and 2 and wish I could keep taking him. Ochem is one of my favorite classes now!
Dr. Pan is the best Professor in the chemistry department, his quizzes are basically a mini version of the exams which really help ALOT. He also very lenient when giving partial credit and is willing to add additional office hours for his students. He is also one of the nicest and most caring professors ever, he puts his students' priority first!
Dr. Pan is amazing! I did a few things: attend SI for practice (thank you Neha!), attend PLTL to see how other students approach the material, and visit him during office hours to ask questions. Quizzes are difficult but prepare you for exams. He always offered more office hours during midterm season. In the end, practice and exposure are key!
He cares for every student, is extremely kind, and loves chemistry. Lectures are well-paced and gives much practice. Ask questions in class, he likes participation :) Quizzes are straightforward and the grading is lenient. Ochem is not easy, but come to office hours, SI if you can, and ask questions and you will do well. Textbook is found online.
Best ochem professor! His teaching/written notes are the best so you don't need the textbook, he gives partial credit back on quizzes and exams fairly often, and he grades quizzes and exams in less than 1 day. But also go to SI with a good leader/practice alone as this class requires extra studying. He cares for everyone so I would take him 100%
Dr. Pan is the best OChem professor ever! He grades all the assessments within the day of you taking it and is generally good to give out partial credit/extra points wherever applicable. Please go to office hours if you are confused in lecture as it is imperative you understand the content immediately when taught in lecture. NO procrastination!
Dr. Pan is the best ochem professor! Pay attention in his lectures and you will not need to read the textbook. Additional practice problems are super important. SI and PLTL were very helpful if you have a good leader. He grades very quickly and is pretty generous with partial credit.
The best. Heartbroken that his section got full for ochem 2 so fast. Just study and practice a lot! His lectures are fun and he's a great professor. He gives so much time for us with his office hours. He grades so quickly which was such a privilege. The quizzes and tests were sometimes hard but he curves a lot, so don't stress and do your best.
Best chem prof! Very caring and kind. Explanations in the recitation sessions were super clear, and he often explained topics from class much better than the lecture professors. Because of Dr. Pan, I have a new interest in chemistry!
Absolutely LOVE the man! He does lots of practice problems in class and very patiently explains them in detail. He has practice worksheets and posts recordings going over them. OChem is a tough class, but he teaches extremely well. His quizzes are in-person and can be harder than other professors, but they prepare you very well for the exams.
I absolutely adore Dr. Pan! He leads plenty of practice problems during class and explains them in great detail, always patiently. Additionally, he provides practice worksheets and records sessions going over them. OChem is tough, but his teaching is excellent. While his quizzes may be tougher than others', they effectively prepare you for exams.
I took him last semester for ochem 1 and my opinion has NOT changed for ochem 2. He is THE best teacher, a generous grader with partial credit, and cares for his students. His quizzes being a bit harder prepared us for the first exam and all exams allowing us to do better as a class when other lectures had higher fail rates (especially on exam 1).
Dr. Panapitiya was an amazing professor. He truly cares for his students and explains things very well, and his office hours are great if you need more help. He grades very leniently and faster than the other professors. Overall, a very nice man who wants the best for his students.
Ochem2 was a struggle mainly due to my having taken Ochem 1 a few years ago. However, I couldn't have asked for a better and more caring professor. Always gave me confidence to keep coming back to his office hours. He'd always find ways to connect the material to where I was at. All of his positive reviews are well-earned and then some.
Super nice and caring professor overall. I will say that its easy to get lost in his lectures which often leaves you very confused when you learn new topics. However he gives very good recorded recitation lectures outside of class which helped everything make sense. His quizzes were tough but were an accurate preparation for the real exam.
only grades r for tests and quizzes so nothing to cushion ur average.i felt like no matter how hard i studied id still fail/barely pass.ended with an A- bc of the huge curve.pan is so sweet&wants you to succeed but i didn't mesh w his teaching style.he didn't explain enough for me, kind of just talked, & did the examples v fast.PRACTICE EVERYDAY!!!
Caring and kind! Vague slides but writes down and explains in more detail during class. Records 1-2 hr online lectures on Sat that goes more in depth and gives lots of examples. Only graded by quizzes and exams but gives partial credit (no MCQ) and helps that the grading scale is broad. Do practice problems w past exams and ochem rank it website!
Professor Panapitiya is an amazing teacher who truly cares about his students' success. While OChem can be challenging, his detailed explanations, practice problems, and recorded recitations made the material much clearer. unstuck AI was a great study tool too!
Dr. Pan was probably the most amazing instructor I have (and ever will) come across throughout my academic career. Not only is he an incredibly charismatic and knowledgeable prof., he is also the best, most genuine person you will ever meet. It's obvious he wants you to succeed, and I'm really lucky I had him for 2 sem. take him!
Dr. Pan is a very kind professor who is always ready to help. For ochem 2 he paced himself a little slow and we would be stretched out with time/content to be covered by the time each exam came around. His quizzes also require a good amount of studying!
Dr. Pan is the best ochem professor and he is very good at explaining information. He is extremely easy to talk to and has tons of office hours and recitations. His quizzes are straightforward and require you to start studying early, which will prepare you for your exams. The exams are slightly harder, but if you studied, then it should be easy.
Dr. Pan is one of the best professors I've had at UTD. You can really see how he cares for his students and how he loves teaching. Outside of lectures, he had office hours and recitations which helped so much.
