Good Professor, tests are multiple choice w/ essay questions. Hard grader, fair
Hard Grader, feminist, expects thorough knowledge
If you take notes and memorize those notes for tests, you'll get an A. She grades on a curve. GREAT PROFESSOR!
Fair, Expects specifics on the essays of the test, only notes 2 tests, 1 final, and 2 small projects. Study and you will do well. She give participation/attendence points worth up to 5%, extra credit.
I thought she was a pretty good professor and she got everyone involved. She does pick on people, and she does give attendance and extra credit. Two midterms a final, and you have to write a fake contract and go to a court hearing. Pretty neat class!
She makes you write your name on the back page of the exam so she doesn't discriminate, which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard...if a teacher is afraid of discriminating, she shouldn't teach. But memorize everything and you'll do well.
She makes Business Law very entertaining. She is a very good professor. The essay portion of her tests are some what hard.
She's a very hard grader, but also a great teacher. Her notes are excellent. Just memorize them and you'll do well. She's always willing to help her students. Highly recomended
Seems nice at first, but is very hard. Treats students like they are in 1st grade. Does not keep her word. Provides notes, but not on everything. Cares way too much about attendance. Makes you sign-in twice during a 3hr class. Needs to ease up a little on grading essays. Discriminates between who sh
class lectures are long and boring, tests suck , she teaches the class as if all the students were law majors. My advice is to not take his class because she loves to fail most of her people and gets proud about it.
SHE IS AWESOME!!! I LOVE HER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER AT CSUN! She explains everything a million times to make sure everybody unserstood the material covered. She is VERY helpful. The only negative is you cant turn in late work! That sucks, so keep up. All and all, she is a FANTASTIC teacher!!!
she is among the best prof i've had at CSUN. she makes class fun and interesting.
Its a law class, so you pretty much know what the course requires. She grades kinda hard, but if you do the homework you should be alright. The class is entertaining, which is seldom found in undergrad law classes. I recommend her.
shes a good professor but you need to do the readings
She is very hard, she thinks its court house and she expect us to know as much as she knows after all this year teaching, you have to be ready even before she lecture, the test are very hard, she never returned our Homework so we have no idea what are grades are. DO NOT TAKE HER
Great Professor...hard grader on exams, hard grader on homework, and a little unfair at times.
great teacher. grades hard on her tests.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER SHE IS WORST TEACHER IN THE BLAW DEPT. SHE MAY EXPLAIN THE MATERIAL WELL I WILL GIVE HER THAT. BUT SHE GRADES LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH INFORMATION YOU PUT DOWN ON HER TEST SHE WILL STILL NOT GIVE YOU A GOOD GRADE. DONT TAKE HER
Why is she teaching? Why?
She teaches the class as if she's at a high school. Takes attendance and doesn't leave it to the students to be accountable for their actions. Lectures are straight from the book, no real room for growth there. Cold calls in class to see if you did the work, group project sucks.
Save yourself the pain and struggle. Dont take her, she grades incredibly hard. I did the extra credit, and her court visitation, and partnership agreement, all with A and B grades. And I still got a D. Again, Save Yourself.
interesting lectures. makes the subject interesting. funny, makes a lot of jokes, although HARD grader on tests and assigments. you have to do your HW and come prepared to class every time. if you are interested in the subject - take her.
I really enjoyed her class. Its definetly not an easy class but if you pay attention and want to do well you can. She is very helpful and clear when explaining material. I think she is one of the best Blaw profersors at csun. I am planning on taking another class with her in the future.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH nina golden
Very Helpful, Lectures are clear, Fun to listen to, tests are extremely difficult.
Very Nice! Funny! hard class but make note cards and memorize a lot and u'll do fine. Lectures interesting, court visitation, make a contract. Must brief cases for Homework. Doesn't collect homework, but u need to do it, cause she might call on you. She takes points off. Overall great teacher, know
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER
Her class is fun. She is very energetic, but the exams are totally unfair. there is Min. one esay question in each exam which worth anywhere between 60-70% of the exam. She is very tough on the essays. u gotta be perfect to score good on the esay. The exam grading disrtibution sucks.
Law could be fun, I know weird huh? But, this proff makes you hate it! There are so many elements and concepts, it RIDICULOUS! and she doesn't make it any easier always going off on tangents.
It does not matter how well prepared you are for her lectures or if you activelly participate in class it all boils down to her test, which are graded not based on how well you can analyze the material but on how well you can memorize it. Changes her mind a million times about deadlines for assignments.
She's a great teacher! I don't know why people complain so much, I got A's on all her tests. I liked her class, but the tests are challenging. You have to know your stuff and you'll do fine. Be very thorough on essays and that's how you rack up points. She made me want to learn, it was a fun class.
She is the hardest profesor in the blaw department. Interesting lectures, but deviates from the topic too much. Picky on exams. You need to memorize everything for her exams. If you tend not to read or study, DO NOT take this class. If you put in the effort you will pass with a decent grade. Super hard to get an A, unless you memorized everything.
She's a very demanding teacher, but doesn't teach good enough to meet her demand. She's biased. If she doesn't like you, you won't get a good grade. DO NOT MISS HER CLASS and arrive ON TIME or else she won't like you. If you're up for the challenge, then take her.
Her lectures are so interesting. I considered pursuing law after taking this class. YES, this class is challenging. Prepare for a workload of assignments. You shouldn't take this class if you already have 2 other classes that require 10+ hours per week. She's not an easy grader either.
Just as everyone else on this page states, her exams are hard. And Mrs. Golden tells you that from day one. The actual lecture is great. Sheexplines everything so clearly. Her class dicussionsshould bring a smile to your face. They are alwasy interesting. They will help you for the exam. You will remember her examples!
This professr is the worst BLaw professor in my opinion and I have had them all. She lectures the class and tries to get the class in a participating mood by making lame retarded comments and jokes. She knows what she is talking about, but this teacher clearly represents the steriotypical saying, "those who cannot do.....teach".
She is excellent at explaining the material and giving good examples for the class to follow. Her tests on the other hand are extremly hard and unfair. Her good examples are not enough to help you ace a test. You have to basically memorize EVERYTHING she goes over in detail to do well. Take her only if you have a photographic memory.

For the most part the class was not horrible. The class was, actually, very interesting and enjoyalbe. Her examples are funny. She is a nice person, but strict when it comes to the facts. The tests are pretty hard, she is very picky when it comes to detail. Other than that, if you work hard, pay attention, and do the assignments you should do good.
This class is very interesting and enjoyable. As long as you do the assignments and study for the tests you should do pretty good. If you're interested in LEARNING business law take this class. If you just want an easy class and don't care about learning the material then don't take this professor.
She has a good since of energy however, she moves very fast and exspectes for you to be on the level she thinks she is teaching the class. Not very helpful but very paranoid of her test. If you take her make sure you ask plenty of questions and plenty of studying. She will not wait for you to understand.
she needs to go back to school to sharpen up her skills - she cant even explain to you what reasonable person standard is - it is funny to see her fumble when you ask scholastic questions - she looses her markers - likes to write on the board allot - needs to lecture not dictate - deviates from the book - if you work like a Slave - you might get a
All I can really say is that she does make the class interesting with her jokes... but as for learning, lectures alot but doesnt really explain! And as for her tests all essay.... ands shes a very strict grader! IF you want a decent grade dont take her!
I took this class on my last sems and i do not get anything from this class. She really talks a lot but all of them are jokes. She can not really explain and teach the class at all. She only make the class looks interesting cause of the behavior and jokes. Just re consider and re think before you really want to add or enrolled in the class.
Okay she talks way too much and most of it is not helpful at all! Her tests are very difficult and she is very picky on gading. The majority were complaining and not doing well at all. I think she has a very fake personality and always reminds everyone that she is a lawyer, very conceited , I will never take her again and I don't recommend her!!!!
She is very anal when it comes to the test, you have to memorize everything. she explains everything about exams in class and ahead of time. she tells u exactly what she expects. overall, not too hard as people say. she makes it interesting
She is very anal on the tests, she expects total memorization but she also tells you exactly what she expects on the exams. Not that hard, just study the notes, you don't even need to read the book. Great teacher.
I love her! She is one of the best teachers I have had. Law by itself is a very interesting subject, but she makes it even more enjoyable. Her tests are hard, that's true, but if you read the book, attend the class, participate and study your notes, "A" is very real. You'll have so much fun with her!
You better learn the art of sucking up if you want to get a good grade in the class. Memorize all the notes word by word and you still wont have time to finish her tests.
class is very interesting. She can be very anal at times but if u put in effort u can get a good grade. she is funny and keeps u awake. very detail oreinted. must take lots of notes in class. attendance also required. highly recomended if u dont mind puttin in a bit of effort. she assigns hw but doesnt collect it, sumtimes randomely pics on peple
I really liked prof Golden, although she has you memorize a lot of info for tests. Very nice and good sense of humor. I think she prepares you really well for Gateway and really helps you understand the information.
She was great! the first two weeks I hated her! but i learned so much and ended up doing really well int he class. she appreciates the effort and the interest in the class. Homework is not collected but you must participate to receive points in the class. She is very helpful and will answer any questions. Her tests are super hard. pverall great!
good class. memorize the terms, do the cases from the book (she randomly picks students but doesn't collect it), take good notes, and come to class. it's really not THAT hard. i got an A and i've had harder classes. learned a lot. funny as hell too. sarcastic. well she is a lawyer.
she was great.come to class and speak up and you'll do fine.she's hilarious.i had some personal issues going on and she was very sympathetic. gave me a B i didn't deserve because i was upfront with her and participated a lot in class when i was there.i should have gotten a C.she raises your grade if you improve over the semester. great teacher!
She is a really good professor. She beats difficult concepts into your head until you are forced to understand them. If you go to class and pay attention, you will learn something every day. She is definitely one of the best professors I've had. Just be careful, her tests are tough. If you really want to learn something, take her class. She's great
She should go and teach high school, not college. She just simply copy everything from the textbook to the board and doesn't explain the concept at all. It's all about memorizing, not learning. I'm a BLAW major and very disappointed to take her. BTW, her jokes are distracting and not that funny at all. Plus, she is anal. Be aware!
Overall she is a really good professor. She is clear. The tests are a little hard but she is a fair grader. Just read, take notes, DO ASSIGNMENTS (they really help), and memorize before exams and u'll be just fine.
She plays favorites. Others on this site said they deserved a C and she gave them a B. Well I easily deserved a B and she gave me a C. Even if you try hard and participate, she may not like you because of some primitive instinctual response to your looks or you voice or something like that.
Many of her multiple choice test questions don't make any sense and are written very poorly. She tries to get her opinion on social/cultural/economic matters out there, but she is out of her league when doing this because she has simply doesn't understand what she's talking about. She is also quite dogmatic with her beliefs.
Anyone else felt they should have received a better grade? I agree that she played favorites and she should really consider teaching junior high instead of college.
Overall a good professor who expects alot from her students.
She definitely plays favorism. During class breaks, she only talks with students who can speak her native language and ignores others. Being a lawyer doesn't mean a good law teacher. Suggest CSUN fire her!
She DOES NOT play favorites. I had her for both BLAW 280 and 380 and did great in both classes. Make sure you take good notes and study you notes before tests. There no surprises, she basically tells you what you need to know for the tests. Yes the exams can be intense since they are mostly in essay formats, but study the notes and it'll be fine.
she knows how to teach! you will defintely learn in her class. full of energy.go to class take her notes, its very interesting. randomly picks up hw assignments. score xtra points by participating. if u need to take BLAW take it with her. I took 280 and 308! Book is mandatory and very usefull. tests in essay format. 1court visit asgnmnt &1 prtnshp
Mrs. Golden is a very good teacher. She makes sure that people are learning by randomly picking on people to answer an easy question. She wants the HW problems done her way, just follow instructions and you get full credit for thm. Tests are exactly based on the topics talked in class, and must be answered the way you answer the homeworks. Must Stu
I must say she does play favorites. You might not get the grade you deserved. Must put in a lot of time into this class.
Who told her that being b*tchy equals intelligence and confidence? Being in her class made me wonder Who gave her the crabs??? Who has ever had a b*tchy male professor? What is it with these female professors that feel they need to be jerks to be respected. I have had female professors who were extremely helpful and intelligent who I respected more
In class disrespectful, snide comments about students, picking out individual students for humiliation. Misplaced humility causes her to act in ways other professors do not. I am of the opinion she does not understand how to properly run a class of 100+.
She is a tough cookie but you will learn A LOT from this class. Do not take her if you plan on slacking off and dont care. She will call you out if you are not paying attention in her class. Overall though, she really really knows her stuff!
I honestly enjoyed this class. The teacher never it boring and made the material interesting. The material itself is very difficult and you have to pay attention to every detail she gives. MC test are easy. Concentrate fully on the essay exams. 70% for each exam. practice the case problems as she instructs because is the same technique in the exam.
I cannot believe people complain about this professor! This professor does not humiliate students. All she does is keep everyone in check who texts in class, which is very disrespectful in the first place. She is a great professor and cares about her students. Her class is hard, but she keeps explaining until everyone understands. Take her.
She is a hard teacher AVOID. Tests are extremely hard, m/c and essay. Very strict. Attendance is mandatory. A bit egotistical, assigns alot of HW wich, in her defense is good because you read the text.
If you want to do well in her class do exactly what she says. On her essays make sure to define eveything. The class is a lot of work but she really knows her stuff and is willing to help anyone that asks for it. I would take her again.
the worest prof, i've ever had, she's dump, always try to be funny...whenever you ask her a Q, she'll be like oh i will get back to you with an A
The worst prof, i've ever had, she should teach elem school.
The woman has no heart. She screams and embarreses students. Her tests are unreasonable in the amount of time given.
She explains everything very clearly, cares about the students that show interest and is an overall great professor. You will learn a lot in her class if you want to and if you pay attention. However, her exams are tough and she expects every student to be fully prepared each day. The key to doing well is to take good notes, understand the concepts
A wannabe Ivy League professor and treats her sophomore level class like they're at Stanford. She's the worst professor I've had in four years of college BY FAR. Also, she's very cold and sarcastic and makes you feel like a moron in front of class if you can't answer her on the spot. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS...I'm not even gonna mention her tests...
Most hate her, a few like her, but trust me...don't take her. Her class is really hard and not in a challenging way. She also loves to make you feel stupid in front of the classroom. I have no idea how she doesn't have a 0.0 rating. I had to work my tail off just to get a C last year
As I read most of these comments, it makes me chuckle. Reminds me how misleading ratemyprofessors can be. Anyway, this class isn't easy, but it's doable. She explains things clearly..just do your work and come to class. Best way to study for her exams? Make flash cards and study. I got an A, so can you. --Junior, CSUN GPA 3.7
Professor Golden is a great professor. She knows he stuff and tries to make the subject as interesting and fun as possible and uses a lot of examples. She explains from the beginning exactly what you need to do to succeed. Her notes are clear and to the point and if you study and understand the concepts then you will get a good grade.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! her class will put your life in hell!!! the textbook is like $250 and she grades really hard, you pretty much have to memorize the book word for word. alot of writing, even on test she makes you write a 2 page essay. She also make you attend a court case or jury duty and write a paper about it after. NOT RECOMMENDED!!
She makes you memorize the book word-for-word. For example, in the test, if a law has 2 requirements, and you state the two requirements in your own words, but not the textbook's words, she takes off quite a bit of points! DO NOT TAKE HER.
Mrs. Golden is a GREAT teacher! Yes, attendance is mandatory but for a very good reason...She gives ALL the answers! Like duh. Just take notes, do the hm, and make flashcards to study for the exam. I expect no less than an A- in this class :))
Prof. Golden is the best BLAW teacher I ever had. She is very clear and positive. Gives reasonable time to complete HW. Very fair grader! She has office hours and they are VERY helpful! I went twice with a million questions and she answered them. She helps everyone. I studied hard and got an A- in the midterm! Sheâ??s also funny! Take her.
nice, smart, great at teaching - goes over everything in class, hints at test questions, writes notes on board, and is very organized. Unfortunately, she grades like an AP English teacher and aims for that C average. Grades essay questions comparatively to other students - a good essay will still get a bad grade unless it is one of the best.
I can't speak on her Blaw 308 class, but women and the law is not as bad ! Golden is super sarcastic and can come off rude, but she is funny and knows her stuff. The test are mainly essay, so if you're not good at writing, stay clear! overall, i lied golden and the class. I got a B+, but i'm trying yo raise my GPA, so i wouldn't take her again.
Not an easy class with this teacher. I received a B+ when I should of recieved an A. Very stingy when it comes to giving out A's, she'll even tell you the first day of class. Her midterms/final are DEATH, unless you have a special talent for memorizing the whole textbook. She was a good teacher but a very hard grader and not very helpful.
I'm currently taking her 308 class, and reading these comments make me chuckle. Professor Golden states the requirements prior to the midterms and if YOU study and manage your time wisely then the tests should come as common sense. Golden is knowledgeable, funny, and makes class enjoyable which half of professors lack enthusiasm in their lessons.
Unclear, disjointed teacher. On a power trip. Not a nice person either.
She is the hardest teacher I ever have, dont take her. she makes you memorize the book like a machine, like that 's THE ONLY CLASS YOU HAVE. hard on grades , very stingy.
Tough but fair. She is more than willing to help you, but homework and attendance are mandatory. Be VERY THOROUGH when answering on her exams or she will mark you down. Overall great professor but pay attention in class!!!
You have weekly homework some times twice a week, homework can take a couple of hours to complete. In class she lectures by reading off her notes and regurgitates everything on the board. she expects you to remember everything word for word that she has gone over for the midterms. Over all good professor, keeps you entertained but hard grader.
Very Very hard , she is expecting you to know the book , page to page , number to number , every single bullets point, words to words. stingy, harsh and mean. DO NOT TAKE HER . RUN RUN AND RUNNNNNNNNN.
I enjoyed Professor Golden's class. However, her tests are pretty hard and she mainly focuses on essays. You need to pay attention to her and go to class in order to take good notes. Attendance is mandatory and she randomly calls students to read their homework. Overall, good teacher! Very passionate about the class.
She is GREAT at going over and over the material covered. I learned a LOT and tried incredibly hard, but my grade a B+ :(. Her grading is competitive so bring on the frustration. She is disrespectful & enjoys in class humiliation. She is very defensive and if you ask a question about your grade she thinks you are accusing her so prepare to see ugly
One of my favorite professors at CSUN! Come to class and write down exactly what she writes on the board. Make flashcards for her exams and you'll definitely get an A in the class. Exams are tough but straight from her lecture. Many of her students end up taking her again for other classes, she's that good!
Worst teacher I have taken so far in my whole university life. She doesn't explain concepts clearly plus makes weird jokes. I haven't learned much in class and her grading tough and hard to understand how she grades.Don't take her, there are much better professor out there
Assigns way too much homework. Does not allow a reference sheet for tests. Attendance is mandatory. She is constantly staring with hopes of catching you on your cell phone. Nit picky. Often appears confused by her own material. Doesn't lecture with certainty, which makes you question if the information she's providing is accurate. Avoid.
Avoid this professor at all cost. She's an incredibly hard grader, when it comes to test. 2 midterms and a final, in which 70% of the grade is an essay. She assigns a lot of tedious yet pointless homework. Your required to do a Court visitation and partnership agreement, worth 5% each. Participation is mandatory.
One of the tougher classes you can take and she does not make the material easy. That being said, I would highly recommend her (along with Prof. Saunders) if you are serious about going to law school. These two professors will prepare you for the real deal.
TEST ARE HARD AND NOT EVEN FROM THE HOMEWORK MATERIAL!!
She has homework due EVERY WEEK. We also have a court visit and a partnership agreement project. There is way to much out of class work. Her class takes most of my available study time which is detrimental to my major courses. Unless you're a Law student it is in your best interest to take a different professor.
She's very disrespectful. She doesn't know her material, but she expects you to know it all.
Ms. Golden is a great teacher. She's pretty entertaining in her lectures and makes rather dull material a lot more fun. She's definitely tough though. No nonsense in class whatsoever. 70% of your grade on exams are essays so be as descriptive as possible or she'll make you pay for it. If you want an A get ready to earn it.
Prof. Golden is a great teacher. She explains well, makes sure students get the subject before moving on to the next one. I would recommend taking her class if you want to learn. Tests are fairly structured with no surprises. Overal great experience
Without bias, here is how the class goes. There is homework due each week. Requires about an average of 12 pages of reading and homework assignments on average of 5 paragraphs. Submit to moodle and bring a hard copy or laptop to class. Two essays. Exams (multiple choice and written portion) require a VERY thorough understanding of the material.
Terrible class, didn't learn anything and got really tired of the constant indoctrination she gave the students. The homework was outrageous and took away time from real classes that needed my attention. All for a general elective class I will never use. Very disappointed. It also wasn't really hard just extremely time consuming.
Tough, but not impossible. I knew the material but her midterms were hard. On the first midterm there were 7 pages that had to be written under an hour and 30 minutes. Some of her questions are out to trick you. There are better, but her lectures are honestly some of the best ive ever had word to drake.
I loved loved loved Professor Golden. It was a hard class but the material was very interesting and useful. She makes sure everyone participates to earn points. Homework is a lot but it is a great way to get ready for midterms. If you do your homework every week, pay attention to her lectures, you will be fully ready for the midterm and final.
Professor Golden is a great choice for BLAW 308. Make sure you have the book and show up to class as attendance and participation matters for your grade. Her lectures are informative, and class discussions help you understand the material better. Overall I think she is a great choice for BLAW 308!
She's is so smart and inspiring. She wants you to learn and actually cares for her students to get the best out of her class. Take her if you try you won't fail.
A complete control freak. Treats her students like Elementary School children. Thinks she's really funny and will be disappointed when you don't laugh a her jokes. Definitely consider taking another professor.
If business law is your major, she is a solid choice. If not, I strongly suggest taking another professor. If you do not care about blaw, then this class will be too difficult for you.
Amazing teacher who really cares about her students. However, she doesn't play around when it comes to lecture time. Lectures are very clear and she is funny and interactive with her students. I learned a lot and i'll be taking her other classes. Tests are MC and written where she is looking at how you apply certain laws to cases. TAKE HER!
Class is graded very hard. Class average is 70% no curve.
Cons: Control freak. Grades homework based on completion, not on correctness. Lots of homework. Treats adults like kids (not sure why). Court report sucked. Strict deadlines. Pros: Clear lectures. Easy to communicate with outside of class. If you're looking for an easy grade, take another professor.
Homework due every week. Heavy class in terms of work load, most of my time was spent on this class. The court report takes up a bunch of time early on in the semester. Beyond me how she grades the test. You can know everything about the law but if not put into her format you can get a low grade on the test. Regret taking this class and prof.
She's one of the hardest graders out of all my professors, and treats all of us like children. So much class time is wasted on her trying to make us laugh with corny jokes and her getting disappointed if we don't laugh. She breezes through information and expects you to remember all the little details. Her grading criteria is sky high. Don't take!
Avoid taking! The hw in this class will take hours to do, the 3 tests are tough & she's picky with grading, class participation is a MUST and she literally treats her students like children. You must raise you're hand to answer questions, she throws around a toy to use when you speak. DO URSELF A FAVOR, DONT TAKE. CSUN has better professors
Homework 25%, Attendance & Participation 10%, 2 Midterms (15% each), 1 Final (cumulative, 35%). Very passionate about the subject and knowledgeable. Homework every week which can be lengthy. Exams are pretty hard as multiple choice is only worth 10-35% and the rest free response. Must have good memorization skills to pass this class. Time consuming
AVOID. The worst professor I've ever had, an absolute nightmare. Control freak and tries to be funny, but isn't. 70% of the course is based on exams, which are 70% essay questions. Class average for every exam is around 65%. Lots of HW, but only graded on completion. There's a reason why her classes are the last to fill up, avoid at all costs.
I want everyone to read this, She is such a tough grader on exams and very judgmental. From my experience, she will likely to judge your personality and will automatically grade you on it. these kind of professors acts tough and grade harsh yet the material is not that complicated. Never had a professor like her all my time at csun.
Prof Golden is a very good teacher. I enjoyed her lectures and she always tried to make jokes to make them more interesting. She gives weekly Hw and 3 tests. She grades the tests pretty harshly but gives full credit for the homework as long as you try, it doesn't have to be right. I would take her again, I just did the Hw and managed to get a B.
Hours worth of HW which is only useful for the slow people who actually need the 3 hours of her going over the homework during class to understand simple concepts. The content is enjoyable but then the elementary style and level of homework is just busy work to make sure you are reading- utterly miserable. Isn't that what an exam is for?
Just don't take her. The homework is not necessary hard however you need to read and you read ALOT. She grades kinda weird so don't be surprised if you get an unexpected grade. She gives you an hour for Exams and you have to answer with full paragraphs 3 questions with abc. Just take another professor
BEWARE OF HER. She is literally the worst professor I have ever had. Her homework assignments are LOOOONG and lots and lots of reading. She also gives impossibly hard exams and doesnt even give you enough time for it. She goes on different tangents during lectures and tries to be funny. I regret taking this class. You have been warned.
The worst! Grades emotionally. You teach yourself the material. Lots of reading and homework and the test are unreasonably specific. Spends class time crying for everyone to have their camera on instead of teaching us. She takes forever to grade everything so you don't know how you are doing. Defensive about her teaching methods and stands by them
Be ready for hours of weekly HW, where she asks a question and requires 2 paragraphs for answer as useless busy work even though the answer is literally like, "Yes" & it doesn't require critical thinking. Easy content/concepts. Her online class is a disaster. Dumb loud people interrupt and she lectures for 3 hours straight. Eyes burn & I'm bored.
I would rate 2.5 if I could. Lecture goes over HW and a few new terms, but they're too long. Tests are graded very harshly and you BARELY have enough time to finish it. You have to be VERY specific and define EVERYTHING, or you'll get marked down on it. A LOT of HW and reading, much longer than it should be imo. Nice lady though, so could be worse.
A lot of reading to answer the homework. Attendance is mandatory for the whole class session (she prints out a report that shows how long you were on zoom for). Grades super difficult for the "quizzes" and doesn't give you much time to answer, but they're open not. Solid prof but you have to work for a good grade.
UGH! she starts the semester slow and everything makes sense. Then comes the 2nd midterm and she starts to spiral out of control and becomes so obnoxious. Every week an assignment is due but honestly it's just busy work. Now, 2 weeks before class ends, SHE ASSIGNS TWO ASSIGNMENTS AND A MIDTERM DUE IN A WEEK LIKE ?! please, don't take her!
BLAW391 itself is such a interesting and great subject however Professor Nina is not the professor you should take. She knowledgeable but she is very judgmental and I have a feeling she grades you on that and not your actual work. Her class should be an easy A but she makes it difficult. If available take another Pro
Weekly assignments but manageable even for someone with a busy schedule. She cares for her students and tries to make her classes as interactive as possible. She had a team project and it was easy just like all her other work. Midterms are difficult but are open notes so if you understand the material you'll be good to go. Very understanding!
very good professor, caring and understanding. She lectures on everything you need to know for the test. There are homework assignments due almost every class which is just reading the chapter and answering questions The midterms are a little tricky but open note. She makes the lectures interactive which makes the class less boring. TAKE HER CLASS
Pretty solid professor. As long as you follow her directions for HW + the Sales Agreement assignment, you'll do fine. She doesn't assign too much reading. Her exams are challenging, but she goes over most concepts thoroughly during the lectures. You have to work for an A, but it's possible.
She makes it difficult. Its discouraging. She gets occupied with students having their camera on. She is not clear on the instructions of the assigned work. You can ask directly but her response goes around the answer which is not fair because she grades you as if she expects you to know what she wants.
The worst professor i have ever taken my entire life. Treats her students like kids if you are a minute late you are absent . heavy homework. grades harshly. zero empathy .
I had always hoped that I would be able to avoid a professor this terrible. I took 5 classes and spent the most time and effort on her class only to receive a D in return. I even attended all of her mind-numbingly brutal lectures. The lecture is hours long and essentially accomplishes nothing. If I could go back in time and slap myself I would.
Class is easy however attendance is mandatory and that affects your grades a lot. Wkly negotiation projects n in class participation is required, 3 essays make sure to write down da terms 4 your analysis and example from both the opposing and advancing issues that arise. She care a lot but all the materials are from the book and notes soo0o00...
Enthusiastic + wants you to learn the material. Not everyone thinks she's funny, but at least she's trying. Wish she gave more feedback on your essay answers because that's majority of the midterms and ultimately affect your grade. Can be rude + harsh to students who aren't even close to the right answer. 1 hw assignment weekly.
She assigned a final paper that was 12 pages long, 1 week before due date (during finals week). Should tell you enough.. Never had a teach in my life do this. Class is incredibly repetitive. Makes you buy 3 books, they all repeat the same thing, over and over and over. People don't take negotiations seriously. Class is a joke. She's smart, though.
The ppl giving her a good review must b getting paid She harasses u in class to take notes on paper every 5 min bc she is against technology Says "I dont give out perfect scores bc I dont believe in perfection" Never responds to emails Assigns so much hw that she doesnt grade herself Wants u to b looking at her bc she "requires a lot of attention"
Professor Golden really does care about her students and their understanding of the material. She is incredibly picky and precise with her grading and the material IS difficult but she goes over everything carefully. Not a boring class as she is very energetic and class participation is encouraged. As long as you pay attention u will do decent.
In a week: 1 hw around 15pg reading & answer q's, concept review, participation pts. lectures are clear & engaging. the 2:30 long classes were a lil dreadful. part pts and concept review gives lots of room for free extra points to help ur grade and it really helps. the reviews here r wrong, just stay on her good side and do ur work.
Overall great teacher, if you show up to her class and take proper notes you will pass the class, Professor Golden answers questions with great clarification and you can easily follow up with her during office hours. Open note exams! Loved this class.
Professor Golden is really great at explaining concepts and providing examples. She is a tough and fair grader, and has a great attitude. I still remember stuff I learned from her teaching, I most likely would have forgotten if it was taught by someone less engaging. Be prepared to take notes, and do a slightly more than average amount of homework.
Professor Golden is an extraordinary professor. While this semester had their moments, her teaching style shows as she was able to keep a classroom full all semester long (unheard of in the last four years). While topics might be hard to hear, she expresses them in a way that it is open dialogue for everyone. All I have to say, is get ready to work
Part (1) Professor Golden gives you three exams and about 5 assessments for the entire semester. She also gives you reads every week of about 5-12 pages a week. Two syllabus questions to answer and one or two briefs a week.
Part (2) If you don't miss a class, write all her notes that are on the board, including her examples (oral examples), read, do the assignments, and ask questions, you can pass the class no question about it! The class isn't hard or boring. If you want to learn she is the best professor.
As a person, she's not bad. Very nitpicky, get ready to write 3 pages long assignments every week. Also calls on you to read your answers out loud and interrupts you if you did it wrong. Exam is very hard especially the written portions. Overall do not take her unless you like writing and a sarcastic prof.
Professor Golden's BLAW280 class can be challenging, but she makes it engaging. The lectures are clear, and she encourages participation. Assignments are manageable, and Unstuck AI can be super helpful for study prep.
Yeah idk. Felt more like a propaganda session than class. Honestly, the class itself is boring and the way she teaches doesn't help. Good luck trying to get an A. Work that would otherwise be an A+ in any other class is max a B in her eyes.
I loved her! She is very passionate about the subject and makes the lectures super engaging. It was pretty writing intensive; tests were online; participation points from lectures were online as well. The topic does kinda get depressing though, so be prepared for that.
Amazing professor! If you make sure to write down everything she writes on the board, you'll get a good grade. All exams are open notes and she goes through everything you need during lectures. All homework was based on reading but it was super easy and she only graded participation. Overall a very easy and caring professor.
I do not recommend taking her. She grades hard and will never give you extra credit. She also talks and talks and talks way too much. She thinks she's so funny. I barely learned from her teaching lectures
her grading is terrible and timeliness is nonexistent. Will just assign papers that are due 1 week prior.
I learned a lot in her class but her test grading is HORRENDOUS!! The essay questions on the test are worth so many points. I gave the right answer, but I did not provide an over explained analysis of how I determined thats the answer. She expects a 3 page essay in 45 min to support my answer. so dumb that I got half credit for that.
Homework every week and reading but managable. Class you have to put time and effort in. Tests she is a tough grader but fair.
Professor Golden is sweet and funny but she expects a lot from her students. She refuses to give As on papers despite student's efforts to fulfill her rubric. Take notes of things that seem insignificant, everything matters. Very interesting class but the bar is set extremely high, we're just learning. Don't stray away but put in work.
The information is super interesting, but the coursework/weekly reading is A TON. She also freaks out if you're a minute late and takes a lot of points away. Her tests are made to trip you up. She loves talking about her political opinions during class in a super passive-aggressive way. I'm not paying over 4K to listen to your personal politics...
Terrible, would definitely avoid. 10-page paper for the final. NO FINAL, which is a plus, but so many other factors come into play. Do not miss a day, it will mess you up. Also, if you are sick, no doctor's note will excuse it or any personal convenience. Will say, " Oh, I would have to do that for every student." Trust me, just don't take her.
Not fun at all. Class is boring and repetitive. Also has a no AI policy, even Grammarly. So don't try it. Way too much work will also give you last-minute notices on work. You also won't be able to work ahead as she posts it on Sunday, which gives you no time. Doctor's notes will not excuse. Avoid it at all costs. Good luck.
This professor runs a very strict classroom. No laptops are allowed, grading is strict, and there is little guidance on how to improve writing despite exams being writing-heavy. The professor frequently cold-calls and presses students until they give the expected answer, which can feel discouraging. I did not find the teaching style supportive.
Homework is a lot but manageable if you keep up with it & helpful for exams. She has a really strict AI policy, don't turn any AI work. Tests are heavy writing about applying the terms, be sure to be extremely detailed, minimum 8 lines long per paragraph. Exams are open notes. She calls on you to answer hw so be prepared, participation is graded.
Professor Golden is a nice person, she tries to make her lectures interesting but they are often repeating. She lacks empathy, she is a tough grader, she assigns 3 textbooks to buy for the semester. You can end up 0.2% from an A and she will not give a you a grade bump!
Professor is a tough grader and there's no extra credit. Homework is insane, 2-3 pages, 100 words per question, and tons of reading every week. Exams are super lengthy and you're expected to finish them in class time, which is a real challenge. Not worth it unless you're ready for nonstop work and stress.
