This class is great if you need to catch up on naps. Her voice puts you to sleep and she basically just reads out of the book. She makes you feel stupid if you ask her for help. No personality at all. Very bland class. If you must take this class, go for Mrs. Lazzarino. Save your money and your time.
Fabulous teacher! She's the only teacher I've ever had who ACTUALLY helps you and you understand every inch because she's such a great teacher. Biggest sweetheart, so nice, so helpful! I love her. Young, relatable, funny. She's wonderful.
She is an amazing math teacher! She really tries to help her students out. I highly recommend taking her
This professor is just amazing!! very passionate in what she teaches and the way she explains math concepts makes them crystal clear! I highly recommend you pick her!
She is an amazing Math professor!! she is really passionate about what she teaches and she makes sure everbody understands without making anyone feel bad. Highly reccomend choosing this professor!!!!!!!!
She is such a great teacher. She is willing to help you whenever she has time.
She is an amazing professor! She tries her best to help you understand the material. Very nice and very clear. I highly recommend!
she is a pretty cool professor i learned a lot in her class
shes the best math teacher ive ever had in my life!!!
She is an awesome professor. If you don't understand something, she will gladly go back and review it.
Prof. Lord thoroughly explains the homework, and is willing to answer any questions. She also gives extra credit on difficult problems.
Mrs. Lord is really nice, she always seemed exhausted tho! lol. the class was a little over whelming because the computers werent always working properly. She will help you with any problem you have and make it so you understand it. I loved her class.
She is AMAZING!!!!!! So helpful and it was an easy class.
she is very helpful, and willing to explain things after class. i had intro to Engineering and she was clear on objectives and gave extra credit for difficult problems.
She was an easy grader. Of course you need to work for your grade. Our quizzes, tests, and final where all open book. Tip: the index of your textbook is your best friend. I highly recommend!
Very nice lady, but not the best teacher. Did not seem organized and had issue doing some problems herself. Do not recommend her.
Class was a hybrid so it involved online homework and quizes. The site was difficult to navigate and assignments a bit much but it was an 8 week class which only met once a week. Overall, it was very enoyable and fairly easy, especially if you contacted or went to her with any issues. She is extremely helpful, kind & knowledgable. Open book tests.
Class was straight forward. I maintained an A throughout the class. First Exam i recieved a B but it only put me to a low A. She gives extra credit projects. She uses blackboard, so may see where you stand and any projects or assignments
Take her for EGR 120 only, she is really good. She offers extra credit a lot, but you will get shocked when you take with her EGR 240, 245, and 246. No Extra credit. She doesn't give you points on the homework. Especially, the final and the midterm are 50% of the whole grade which is unfair, so if u have a bad mood in the final that's mean u got B
She is only good in teaching EGR 120, but she is really bad in EGR 240, 245, and 246. NO extra credit. Final and midterm are 50 % of the whole grade which means that if u have a bad mood in the final u got B
She is actually a great professor. Until now I have had two teachers which I really admire because of their love of teaching. Nina Lord is one of them.
her love of teaching!!! I think she reads all the problem from the book. when you ask her a question about any problem she takes long time to answer
Take EGR 120 only with her. Don't take EGR 240, 245, and 246 with her. She has completely different character in EGR 240, 245, and 246
Though smart and knowledgeable, Ms N Lord is one of the incompetent professors I've ever had. She does not know the EGR subjects. I had her for 246 there was no HW no extra credits but she likes to trick u on her exams. I would NOT recommend him to anyone and I am sure the good review abut EGR in here is written by her. STAY AWAY FROM HER CLASSES.
Brilliant professor, the class isn't that easy but it's essential and amazing. She will explain concepts clearly but you need to actually do your homework to pass the tests. Grade is based on exams and quizzes only.
I'm taking EGR 120 with her. Can't see why so many negative reviews. She does give you more homework and assignments, but she is incredibly clear and accurate with her explanation. Her class helped me a lot with my Physics 231 class! Highly recommended!!
She has given me a lot of confidence! I was kind of scared for Physics 231 class. But her class made it easy. She is amazing. Her math solving is outstanding! Recommended 100%
She doesn't know anything about engineering. She is reading the problems from the book, and she doesn't teach anything. you wont learn anything from her class. TAKE DAVID LIN, he is clear more than her. His exam is much easier and depend on how did you understand his lecture. He doesn't read the problems from the book like she does. DONT TAKE HER
DONT TAKE HER CLASS. BELIEVE ME STAY FAR AWAY or you will waste your time for nothing
Her exams is really hard and she change the whole problems. It is not going to be same problems from the book like she used to do before. DONT TAKE 245 and 246 with her.
Wouldn't take her again even if they will give me money to take her class. Believe me STAY FAR AWAY from her class especially EGR 245 and 246. She gave me" F " because I had some problems and couldn't go to take my midterm. She didn't allow me to take it again. My GPA went really down because of her.
Prof Lord explained the material in a clear way. I only took an 8 week course with her, and while there was some work it was fairly easy to complete. There was 1 group project that we did and were given some time in class to work on it, but most of the work was completed outside of class.
Her lectures are crystal clear but just not enough. You will have to read the chapters and do all the examples to learn anything. The concepts are not hard, but you will need a lot of practice. The quizzes are a big chunk of your grade and not easy. She is not helpful outside of class. So do not take her if you are not the hardest working student.
I highly suggest Professor Lord if her classes are open. She teachers at the university level, but grades based on your participation and the amount of hard work that you put in as a student. Very fair grader, very clear during lecture... prepare thoroughly for exams and quizzes though. Homework is a must, study well for the A+ grade.
Love her! She was very helpful, and very clear on what is going to be on the tests. STUDY the practice tests because they are pretty much the exact type of problems on the real test. She is lenient while grading as well. If you don't study or show up, you're not going to pass; it is a very fast pace course. That's just how the course is.
Her class is not easy, but she gives examples of what to expect on tests and quizzes. I will be honest i did not pay attention to her lectures and learned on my own. attendance is not mandatory, but for tests and quizzes it is.
Professor Lord is a good engineering professor, you will need put extra work outside of class (like doing homework, practice problems, and videos). She gave one quiz every single class so expect to study for her class every week. Quizzes and tests are what you need to watch out for, nothing else matters!
She's not a bad teacher, but halfway through the semester she just stopped responding to my emails. When she did the explanations she gave were very poor and usually just referred me to another source or the notes WHICH DID NOT HELP. She also takes like a week to respond to an email so that was awful...
If you want a teacher, choose somebody else. If you want a person who does math problems in front of you and explains thats the way it is "because", then take her.
Great professor, she shows students the meaning behind math and the derivations of certain formulas. Math is the worst class for me, but this professor allowed me to push myself to get a very good grade. All of her quizzes are open note and she posts a practice beforehand, I highly recommend taking her. She's a very nice, and helpful teacher.
Really good professor, her lectures are clear and understandable. She will take time to explain any question you may have during class. Quizzes are open book. She posts practice Test/Quizzes online and is a fair grader as well.
Make sure you pass quizzes and tests, she only grades those! You need to study homework problems (exams will be of a similar fashion) but also do sample problems and a few random problems from the book. If she says that something might be on the final, IT WILL BE! That's a recipe for A, it worked for me.
Just be carefull and do lots of similar problems. If you can do that you're an A for sure
YOUR GRADE WILL COME FROM THE TESTS. THE TEST ARE HARD, BUT IF YOU A GOOD EQUATION SHEET WILL HELPS. SHE ALLOWS YOU TO PUT A LOT ON YOUR EQUATION SHEET THEN YOU THINK.
Took her for EGR 120 and 240. She's very very good for 120. The perfect mix of challenging and easiness. It's full of basic physics concepts. If you're good then you're an A for sure. Her final exam was a bit challenging but it prepared me for later. As I've heard from my other friends that she's by far the clearest professor for EGR 120.
Took her for 120 and 240. This class is very different than 120. Very very challenging. Quiz every week. She would do 1 or 2 problems per chapter and you need to do similar ones(a lot) to get an A. Only issue was email reply! She replied to my emails like 3 weeks after! Otherwise very kind, intelligent and kinda easy professor for 240. Recommended
Professor Lord is terrific. One must study a lot and really pay attention, but it is the material, not the professor. Mrs. Lord makes even the most challenging and complicated concepts understandable.
Prof. Lord is AMAZING. This is probably the best statics professor at NOVA. She gives GREAT lectures, is willing to work with you one on one during breaks and office hours. Very kind! This is a hard class, study and do HW and you will get a B or higher! YOU HAVE TO BE READY TO PUT IN THE WORK. ENGINEERING IS NOT AN EASY A.
this professor has a feeling that everyone in college has to study 24 hours without sleep. makes really really hard questions. taking her is no other than killing your gpa.
Really great professor. Very helpful, nice and has clear lectures. The Homework problems she assigns are similar to the quiz problems you will see. She also provides a good study guide for the midterm and final exam.
Professor Lord was an extremely nice lady, but when it comes to being understanding she is the complete opposite. Miss a day because you are sick and forget to email her????? You are beyond screwed. If you mess up even a little in the class you are completely screwed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND NEVER TAKING PROFESSOR LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took MTH 167 online. 1. Don't take this class online unless you absolutely have to 2. If you do, don't take it w/ prof Lord. She is a tough grader and doesn't follow up w/ your concerns. Homework is extensive (spent an easy 15-20 hrs a wk on it). She refers to herself as a facilitator and not instructor. Don't take this class w/ her or online.
This is the worst professor i have ever taken. Never take this teacher for an online class. You will definitely fail.
The class is very difficult, but the subject itself is. She explains everything exceedingly well and demonstrates a deep knowledge of the subject, and is always open to help you during office hours (not just on statics but on transferring). She's tough but fair. Go to class, do the homework, take the quizzes seriously, show effort, and you'll pass.
She has 8 exams and 1 final! doesn't let you use a calculator on most exams. Some of the exams she doesn't even let you use scratch paper. I took it online and regret it so much GPA dropped a whole 1.0 Just don't. Was simply not there for me when I needed help. It was so bad that I had to report my concerns to MTH vice chairman.
Prof. Lord is a nice lady and she teaches well. This is the intro to engineering course and she will make you work for it by giving lots of homeworks. But she also explained materials well before giving the homeworks and provided some extra credit. This course has a group project and participation matters here. Don't miss a class to earn an A.
Took precal online. Way to much material for summer online. Every section have 6-9 modules, two quizzes, a project and a test. Most of her answers were to go look at the syllabus
Thought I would do well since it is an online class, well, it was not what I was anticipating. Doesn't allow you to use calculators on tests which makes it super difficult because on the homework you're allowed to use calculators. Just don't take it. If you fail two tests, you are guranteed not a D or F regardless if your grade is a C.
The worst thing is taking exams and there's no calculator allowed, when the material you learn in the textbook involves a calculator.
The online version of this class is very standardized. The professor has no control over the assignments and material. She went out of her way to do video lectures, which was not required of her. She was very slow to grade and the online system provided little feedback on graded assignments. If math isn't your strong suit, take this in person.
This is the worst class that I have ever taken. The class alone is very difficult with the amount of material that has to be covered, but professor Lord makes it even worse. She is basically unreachable. She did not respond to any of my emails throughout the whole semester. The only way to learn is through ALEKS and that is a struggle in itself.
Professor Lord is definitely the go-to professor for EGR. I took here for EGR 121 and I wasn't sure what to expect. At first, the lectures were kinda boring (she is very thorough and will cover every slide even if it is common sense). That being said when you get into the stuff that really matters you begin to see her mathematical prowess. Genius.
Professor Lord is a wonderful professor that cares for her students. I just finished taking her "hybrid" Introduction to Engineering Fundamentals class (EGR121) and she has been great. You are introduced to octave and taught how to use excel better. Watch the recorded videos before class. She does lots of examples and likes when studentsparticipate
Professor Lord was really nice! You can tell she really cares for her students. The tests were pretty easy and you can use the textbook to take the test. There is a group project though, but it wasn't too bad. Just be ready to code and do math.
She is a great teacher. She really cares for her students. The quizzes were pretty easy and open book. But there was 1 group project, it wasn't bad. Responds to emails very quickly, and helps with many others issues. She has a clear grading criteria and is an overall great teacher. Her chapter recordings were very helpful.
Professor Lord is an excellent math teacher. Cares about her students. Great attitude and doesn't talk down to students. Explains concepts thoroughly. Never thought I'd enjoy a math class, but I enjoy hers.
I don't understand why professor Lord has any bad reviews at all... she is the BEST math professor I've ever had. She really cares about her students and makes time to help before, after, and during class, if you have any questions. We had a quiz every week and two exams, but all were open book and calculator allowed. Homework varies but never bad.
Best Math Professor ever! She actually takes the time to explain the questions if the students are stuck! She is so calm while explaining the questions when needed! With the homework, she gives about one week from the day that we had class. She is every understandable about people's lives.
This course had two exams, homework, and team project. Professor usually gave us homework which is programming. We used octave. So, when you have experience about it, it is much easier to do homework. And the lecture requires text book but she doesn't cover it. So, you should do your own studying for two exams, but it is not much hard.
Prof. Lord is a great teacher. She makes sure her students understand the topic well and is ready to work outside of class if required. She is a very lenient grader. Her quizzes aren't as easy but also not very hard. She makes you think. I would highly recommend if you genuinely want to learn and understand the concepts. Would definitely take her.
Prof. Lord is great because she doesn't make you memorize arbitrary information from the useless textbook but instead focuses on actual learning. All exams are open book, so an etext is your best bet. Your grade is largely dependent upon weekly octave projects, exams, and a semester group project. If you do the work, it is an easy A.
Best MTH 111 (Basic Technical Math) teacher ever! I took her class during the Spring of 2022 semester! She was available outside the class when the students needed help. When I asked the professor to meet before class to ask for extra assistance for the homework, she would always meet up early! If you are considering taking MTH 111... use this lady
Great teacher horrible professor. On assignments she either gave you a 70 or 100. If you missed one small thing like the labeling the R^2 value on a graph, then you would get a 70%. It's hard to get an A not because the class is difficult, but because her grading is unforgiving and inconsistent.
Ms. Lord is a very good professor for EGR 121. She made lectures exciting and fun to participate with, even when they were online, which is hard to do. Exams are also fairly easy as they are open book, however her grading can be unclear, so be careful. I went from a 99 to a 91 due to the final project and never received feedback as to why.
Definitely watch Jeff Hansen's statics youtube series from start to finish to get a better grade. I wish I had found him sooner. BEWARE: her handwriting is dog awful (outta pre-K type shiz). She uses a digital pen and it is hard to read at times. Quizzes and tests are hand-drawn, and solutions to things usually miss vital steps at times.
She's an amazing professor and really cares about delivering knowledge to her students. Her exams and quizzes were open notes. One thing that I didn't like that much was the amount of Octave coding that we had to do, but other than that I would still recommend her. Also, there is a final group project that you need to present but its not too bad.
she gave us too much work for a 2 credit hour class
My biggest thing I wish I knew is she does not answer emails. I had reached out to her multiple times throughout the semester and never got an answer back once... she does weekly office hours you can attend but I never could due to another class, so it was frustrating. The tests are tricky and the quizzes are doable.
A good prof. Tries to teach, and is very approachable. I asked her to help me out with my class schedule and she really took her time in helping me and finding the best path for me.
Very understanding. Clearly wants students to succeed!
I think she's a good professor who can potentially be so much more helpful but doesn't have any incentive to improve. She ended the syllabus 2 weeks before the final. Sounds great only if she didnt rush the class. 240 is a prereq for other egr courses so it's important to give appropriate time to foundation concepts.
The whole NOVA egr dept sucks. She's probably your only option. Statics isnt hard but she'll make it hard. 5 tests=50% and final and mid= 15% each. She focuses on testing but not on concept. wish she realized students have other classes and work too and we're not AI. You teach yourself and spend a lot of time practicing only to get a B. Good luck
Impossible to get an A. the bad reviews are true.
Good professor, teaches well and encourages students to take initiative. She is hard to get a hold of through email.
Open book quizzes and final. There is a group project that is completed throughout the semester that is a large part of your grade. If you get lucky your final exam may land on a snow day where the teacher will make it online. Attendance is mandatory for certain days. The egr department at nova sucks so this is probably the best you'll get.
Good and engaging lectures. She did a good job breaking down concepts and showing each step for solving problems. Statics is not easy, but as long as you put in the hours, practice, and ask questions, she will help you. Exams weren't too difficult. Definitely would take her again.
