Tests are hard; very boring class to follow
Goes off topic a bit. Nice woman though.
EASY! She relates all theories to a movie or show. You watch them in class too!
Awesome Instructor. Always happy, always nice, always helpful. One of the best at Mesa.
SUPER NICE, SUPER EASY, LOTS OF MOVIES AND SHE WROTE HE OWN TEXTBOOK, LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT AND GREAT LECTURES, TESTS ARE NOT THAT EASY BUT ALL THE MATERIAL IS THERE, AND SHE WORKS WITH YOU TO INCREASE YOUR GRADE,
Passionate, interesting.
Best Prof. ever, Nicest and easiest too!!! Listen to the lecture and skim the textbook or daydream during lecture and read the textbook, either way you should do fine on the exams. Extra credit would help too. HIGHLY RECOMMANDED!!! nicest and easiest!!!
tough grader. Interesting subject and she's passionate about the topics but she lacks personality and more often than not was just plain crabby.
Nice teacher. Class can be boring sometimes but if you stick with it it turns out alright in the end.
Read the book and you will do fine. She gives T/F & mult. choice exams with an essay or 2. She's a nice teacher but the class can get very boring, though.
This class is easy but extremely boring most of the time. Tests are not bad, she is very liberal and understanding and flexible.
Easy teacher. Talks alot about movies and current events. If you attend class easy to get A.
Nice lady, but really boring class. The book you use that she wrote is ok though. So reading makes it ok. Not a hard class, just not very interesting either. Take it, get through it, and move on.
Pretty much the worst class ever. she is the least funniest person i have ever met. i bet you in the next semester she will be wearing a brown leather jacket, brown pants, and a tan shirt. advice: leave after role.
She is way easy. The papers are only a page or two and if you turn them in on time youll get an A on the papers. She has study guides for the midterm and final and pretty much all you have to due is memorize the study guide. Shes pretty nice as well
Nice teacher..boring class if you take it 1 day a week. the tests are easy and she is very understanding
This is the most boring professor ever! Easy A though. Bring other teachers assignments to class so you can make good use of your time-she's so busy babbling she doesn't even notice. Easy, but deadly boring!!!
So I like philosophy...so I liked her class. Subject matter is relevant, intriguing, and she's very knowledgable. Those that say she was boring probably don't like philosophy too much, cause she taught it well.
Pretty easy ... Fun reading selections.
she is very nice & her class is really interesting. you will learn alot. pretty easy, if you come to class. gives study guides for mid terms & final. she gives options of doing extra credit.
Great teacher!Engages the class in conversation and gives study guide of what exactly is on the test. She makes the class interesting and lets you voice your opinions. Easy A.
the most boring class ever but doesnt matter bcuz its an easy a. gives studyguides for the the tests (3) no final-just a 3rd test. the studyguide is all u need and ull get an a. i never paid attn. go to class n sleep. gives 20 pts wrth extra credit. easy stuff too! take this class!!!
one of the best teachers I've had.I was mostly sleeping the entire semester & managed a B. Study guide has all the questions that cover whats on the test. Very understandable if you miss a test, lets you take it in her office. Discussions are interesting when you pay attention. Very nice teacher.
If you attend class regularly and take notes, this is an easy A. No outside homework or research paper, just 4 tests and a final. The material covered and class room discussions are also interesting and engaging. Not boring as some others mentioned.
This class should be called Philosophy 'lite' - only take if you want to learn theories as applied to movies and sit coms like Friends.
Class work is limited yet purposeful. Readings are interesting and discussed at length during class. Class room discussion and debate is relevant and exciting. Rosenstand is both accessible and reasonable. This class keeps me going.
rosenstand is very ... interesting. She does a great job teaching and her tests are so easy! you can barely study and you will do good. BUT... go to class. She doesnt like it when you arent there...and NO CELL PHONES..if they are on..she is not happy. BUT she makes the class really fun and its very enjoyable.
She is very knowledgeable of the subject matter, and the class can be very interesting. Easy A, but worth paying attention to.
She was AWESOME! I love the way she actually kept discipline in class and didn't let people's annoying noise continue. Her book is great, she was approachable and very intelligent and a great lecturer.
I had her for a few classes, and I love her. She really got me into philosophy and the background of feminism. I recommend taking any class she offers. She gets really into her lectures and discussions, tends to get off on tangents because of that, but most of the time they will relate to the discussion at hand. She also uses books, movies, tv, etc. to illustrate her points, which is an interesting way to look at things.
Good teacher, very passionate about her work. I'd highly recommend taking one of her classes.
Professor Rosenstand wrote the book she teaches from, so she's very knowledgable. She loves to lecture, but still welcomes question & some discussion. A bit robotish in her speaking style. Gives 4 Research-Essay assignments, & 3-4 Tests. Pretty easy overall.
Super easy "A", if you are able to do some light reading and show-up for lectures.
The best teacher I have ever had period!!! She made me a Philosohy Major. You will learn soo much in her class, and her study guides are exactly what will be on her tests. Show up to class, take notes, and follow the study guide-guaranted "A." She also offers xtra credit!!
yes, its an easy A, but please dont waste your time. especially if this is your first phil class, this woman will make you think its an empty subject only because she is so ridiculous AND she teaches from the most pathetic text book which-supirse- she wrote
Lots of lecture, lots of reading, but not too strenuous. I took the class as a three-hour once a week block, and of course a three hour lecture is going to be boring no matter what they're talking about. I learned so much about Philosophy, she covers a wide range, and she is very nice and says "ohm" a lot. You'll see what I mean.
She is really nice, but the class is BORING!!! No point reading the text, she teaches straight from it, and wrote it. Lots of lecture, no discussions. Show up and take notes and you'll do fine on the tests. Don't take the once a week three hour block. I would have enjoyed the class more if I didn't have to listen to her for that long.
Easy A. Just read the study guide and pay attention to her lectures. The lectures may be long but if you participate it will be more interesting and she will like you more. Lots of extra credit and easy exams. Liked most of the material and she is really nice...she just likes to hear herself talk.
great teacher.. REALLY BORING. however EASY A if you try to pay attention and take good notes. tests are unbelievably easy, that is if you study your notes and briefly review some parts of the book. take her its intresting and easy..although you should bring an energy drink along with you
She wrote her the text book which the class uses. which sounds great, until you realize she gives you nothing new, even the examples are the exact ones she uses in the book. There is no discussion in the class just her lecturing for hours (not what you would think about a phil. class). The tests are easy and she has extra credit assignments.
She wrote the book you use, so she knows what she's talking about. Her lectures are interesting, and she asks for class participation. She's clear and tests are taken directly from her notes, so you need to take notes! She's nice and informative, if you want to take a Philosophy class, take hers.
She wrote the text you'll use. The text is awesome: crystal clear. Class can be redundant to the text, but don't ever miss class. It will affect your grade big time. She is politically conservative and if you're not, that can be a little uncomfortable. She's GPA friendly. Take this before any other phil class to see if you like phil.
This class started slow but got better as the semester went on. Her test are pretty easy. Lectures are a little boring sometimes but whose aren't? No homework, just reading. I didn't take notes all semester because she wrote the book, so before a test just read the sections in the book. Her study guides are super helpful.
She takes the roll in each class, offers many kinds of extra credits, and provides very clear and helpful study guide. Two midterms and one final. If you study hard for her study guide for each test and do some extra credit, you will get A. Prof.Rosenstand is a good teacher. She treats students nice and friendly.Highly recommand!!!
She really likes her book and likes teaching from it. The information sounded interesting before the start of class but she teaches it in a very uninteresting way. Sure, the class is easy, but wouldn't you rather be in a class where you can stay awake?
the class is boring, but the easiest class ever; just study the day before because her study guides essentially tell u what's gonna be on the test. Be sure to attend class because she's critical about that; just seat in the back and do another class's homework or bring a magazine...
Interesting class. Not boring. Ignore the other reviewers. Read the text, attend class, take notes when she writes something on the board. Midterm, final, quizzes, one in class essay are in the study guides she gives out. Two term paper, but they can be about anything related to women. I got an A+ and all I like are video games and anime.
She is very knowledgeable about this subject cause she wrote the book we use. I wasnt too interested in the subject but she keeps things interesting with contrasting to current topics. Honestly you just need to get her study guides and read the chapters and youll ace the class. you dont even need to pay attention to her but she makes u show up.
Professor Rosenstand is Awesome! She is incredibly intelligent and is passionate about what she teaches. She definitely stirs an interest in her class. The material is great and she allows for input by the student. I love this Prof!
She is very passionate about what she teaches, and you can tell she is really excited to teach it to her students, she loves seeing her kids show interest and gives you part 1-essay part 2-multiple choice. With 3 essays and extra credit. She can get boring at times but in the end is a good choice for the subject.
Great teacher--definitely take her class
I'm a conservative science major that couldn't care less about philosophy. I really dreaded this class and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable classes I've taken. I have no idea what her politics are and that's the way it should be. Her tests are part essay and part MC. I got a perfect score in the class with minimal effort.
She's very nice and enthusiastic, but unfortunately her lectures are like watching paint dry even though I actually really enjoy philosophy. You should do well on midterms and final with minimal reading. Overall it's a pretty easy class, if you can sit through it.
i love coming to her class...she is very animated and descriptive about topics...i really wanted to discuss martin hidiger, she briefly mentioned his name and i think his relevance to philosophy should be heard more..it doesnt matter because i still love this class and Rosenstand is super smart
Great class, nice teacher, who is really interested in what she teaches. Your grade is based on attendance, three 3 page essay assignemnts and tests on each chapter. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Unless you do not show up to class and are not doing the assignments than you are going to get a passing grade.
Great teacher!!!!! Take her class
She's an extremely nice professor who gives you more resources and opportunities than you'd ever need for receiving an A in philosophy. Unfortunately there are certain aspects about her lecturing techniques which can make one class session feel like it was 4 hours long, though it's hard to complain because she's such a tremendously nice person.
Uses her own text book & the entire class is based on the book. She doesn't assign hmwk other than readings, but I honestly got by w/out reading because she covers everything in class. She has 2 midterms,1 final, a few pop quizzes w/ only 2 questions worth 2 ex. credit pts, several Ex.Cr. opportunities. Can be boring, but easy class, great prof.
Highly recommended! One of the best college professors I've had
Her class is very easy. I never read and have a A. But this class is so boring and we learn about things we learned in 2nd grade.this is definately not a "college" class.I also feel as though she has some psycological problems, she doesnt seem stable and snaps at people over tiny things but lets big disruptions continue. kinda strange,BTW its BORING
Nice but you have to come to class, she is helpful and no homework only 2 midterms and a final, offers extra credit.
I went into this class thinking it would be more about philosophy and full of discussion. It was mostly ALL history of women. She wrote the text book and I hate using text books prof's write themselves. My advise is sit down, shut up, smile, and do your work.
Easy to get an A in her class. She spends the entire class time going over the reading assignments, which means you don't actually have to read them at all. There is approximately zero class discussion. She teaches her own textbook, leading to a very one-sided perspective in class. Overall, a great phil course for anyone not interested in phil.
if you're just taking this course for gen ed then take it with rosenstand! absolutely no homework. 2 midterms and a final. all are extremely easy. lectures come straight from the textbook she wrote. i have never read the book once. downside is that it's extremely boring and there is NO discussion whatsoever. and she goes on and on about her book!
I love this professor. Don't worry about writing essay. 2 midterms and 1 final. Midterms are writing essays. Study guides are extremely useful. Pay attention to those sample essay topics. @_@ (sample topic = actually midterm topic)
Started off excited and quickly lost interest. Her assignments are non-explanatory such as: "Extra credit option: Rent and watch the film "...", and write ca. 1/2 page about something not mentioned in Ch.5 in the textbook." She gives vague exam essay assignments and counts off if you don't meet her so-called requirements! She's far to subjective!!!
I have a B in her class and for very unfair reasons (others agree)For her exams, I get As on the MC but B's on the essays. I answer the essay questions in extreme detail and even elaborate further. She is so stuck up and arrogant that I purposely do not attend because I can't stand her personality! She picks favorites, so suck up to her for an A!
I got an A. :D~I don't know why ppl find writing essays such difficult. Actually, all the points you need are in the book. Cuz she wrote her text book!! Simply apply what the book says, then you will get A. Easy Easy. At first, i was afraid about philosophy, but later it turned out to be the most easiest class in this semester!
Loved this class. She is very good at clarifying otherwise confusing concepts and provides interesting examples. She encourages discussion as well, so speak up! The essays are fun to write as she gives you a berth of topics and all the information you could want is provided in the reader & textbook. Excellent class, I'll be taking her again.
She is an awesome professor. She actually lives and researches what she teaches, outside of class. Her life is truly philosophy, she updates her research constantly, periodically and gives her students all the current studies made, etc. depending on the course.
The best phil teacher!!! Pay attention in class, take notes and a easy A! She is awesome!
Extremely easy. You don't really need to read the book - just study from her study guides. She teaches from her own book and uses the same examples from it. Very dry lectures. Takes attendance every day. Very easy A.
Professor Rosenstand is the most fantastic professor I've had thus far. She's a wonderful speaker and so it's impossible NOT to pay attention. She has a great personality and it's obvious she's truly passionate about what she teaches. I would take another one of her classes in a heartbeat.
At the beg. of the course she said that she wanted us to see the different views and what applies to us. This course got me thinking outside of class daily. Very good course, I knew precisely what she would have on tests (3) and there was extra credit (4% of your final grade extra. She is very passionate about her field, which made it even better.
Good class, extremely easy! She rereads our reading assignments to the class so you don't really have to read anything, which gets annoying if you actually read it. Otherwise, very interesting! I'm taking her 125 (philosophy of women)class; she promised it wouldn't be a "man hating" class, & she told the truth, it's a great class!Highly recommended
Easy class...attend lectures, listen/take notes and that's really all you need. Don't need to buy book, it is on reserve in the library and she goes over every article that is in there. Very nice professor!
No Homework, but attendance is mandatory. Gives study guides before exams that have the same questions on the exams. Very little to almost no class discussion during class, its a very one sided lecture. Generally her lectures were interesting and made me ponder my own values at times. Overall good and easy class.
really nice and passionate about philosophy. lots of ec. very interesting class. great prof!
Professor Rosenstand is organized and holds a good structure to the class. However, she loves to hear the sound of her own voice. It often seemed like she was more interested in what she had to stay instead of her students. I quickly lost interest in this class. The class is not difficult, but it was a class that I did not look forward to.
I loved Professor Rosenstand! Personally, I thought her lectures were interesting and easy to understand. Her tests are based exactly on her lectures, readings, and notes that she writes on the board. You have to show up every day, pay attention, do some minor homework, and you should get an A. Her class made me develop some new outlooks on life.
Passionate about Philosophy. Talks about News she finds interesting. Only tests you on things she has mentioned in class. Tests consist of half multiple choice, half written answers (calls them essays but they're not rly essays). 3 Essay assignments and 4 possible extra credit percentage points. Textbook was written by herself. She uses it a lot
She gets off track easily.
Rosenstand covers everything that she expects you to know thoroughly. She teaches from the book but keeps it interesting. We had no homework at all, only three tests. You could pass the tests by only reading the book but she grades on attendance.
If your not big on philosophy or don't think you are type to get into it. Her class is for you and she is a good teacher. But if your goal is a good hardcore philosophic talk this may not be for you. It wasn't for me and I often found myself bored listening to a lecture on the movie Avatar. Regardless she is a person with passion and knowledge.
Interesting topics but she is very boring. Attendance starts counting after a few weeks. Two midterms and a final. Pretty easy.
Thank you Professor Rosenstand for helping me look at life from a different perspective; I thoroughly enjoyed your class. Anyone looking to take her? Do it & you won't regret it.
She was really nice! The only thing was when giving lectures I didn't know what exactly to take notes on because she gets off track easily. She loves to share stories. Overall, her study guide was helpful and she does elaborate on mostly everything. Good class.
Two papers, a midterm and a final. Lots of extra credit opportunities (you can up your grade by 4%), and she's open/accessible to any help you may need. Her lectures are alright (interesting with scattered tangents)and her study guides bullet-point everything you need to know for your final. An easy GE-knockout.
She knows the material like the back of her hand, so you will never be lost. This class is definitely eye opening not only due to the fact that the subject itself is interesting, but she explains it to the core. She gives a huge amount of extra credit. You won't regret it.
If you go to every single class, you really don't need to buy her book. Everything she lectures you about is in the book and on the test, so if you can listen and take notes, don't waste your money on a textbook. There is 3 tests, 1) mult. choice + short answer 2) in class essay 3) 50 mult. choice. I thought it was a pretty simple class.
Professor Rosenstand has the most interesting lecture and is very enthusiastic about teaching. Class is super easy and fun. Just attend class regularly and you'll do great! Tests are super easy and are the same thing as the study guides she hands out. Two short papers- very easy to write and easy A. Lots of extra credit.
Her lectures are long and boring. She mentions way too much that she wrote her book. I wish she'd involve the class more and not just straight lecture.
Great teacher. Her tests are very clear and straight off the study guide.
If you do the work, which isn't all that much, with effort.. you will get an A. Very flexible and helpful. Lectures got boring.
Super easy class. Her lectures are sometimes interesting. She keeps her students updated with current events . Super easy test. Only 3. Second one was a take home essay. No homework. Honestly you would only need to read the book when reviewing for the study guide. Would take her again!!
Easy class. She 's clear about what you have to do to get an A. Nice. Interesting topics(lectures ans ext. cre.). Recommend
Lectures are VERY boring. she looses the class right after the first ten min. All test are in class, and there is a handful of stuff on each study guide she gives. You need to be straightforward and precise on her short essay questions because its kinda hard to impress her. she's too proud of her book.
Prof Rosenstand is a sweet woman who really cares about the subject that she is talking about.. whatever it may be. She only assigns 3 tests and a bunch of extra credit. Honestly pretty easy. Attendance is mandatory though, and I had a hard time sitting in class the whole time. Lectures are really long but if you;re into the topic then it's easy.
Professor Rosenstand was the most boring teacher I've ever taken. I'm actually interested in Philosophy, but this class was painful to go to. She goes off on tangents and repeats information at least five times a class. She treats students like children who need the material spoon fed. Tests are ridiculously easy but it's almost not worth it.
If you read and understand the book, you will pass this class. Lectures are heavily based on the book and discussions in class. It's an easy A if you show up and PAY ATTENTION. There is no HW, only 3 tests. 2nd is optional in-home 2 pg paper or in class essay. 1st/3rd are in-class multiple choice/short answer tests. Extra Credit! No reason to fail!
This teacher is so great shes super nice and super smart about everything shes teaching and is open to discussion but my whole grade is based on 3 tests so that was a drag and it was all based on the textbook.
I took her class online and it was a pretty interesting class. She has clear grading criteria and isn't a rough grader. If you put a little bit of effort in you will do great. There are 10 quizzes, 15 discussion posts(which are pretty easy), and 3 written assignments. Overall it was a great class and was not tough to take online.
The lessons are extremely dry and boring, and since she wrote the textbook so are the readings. She tends to drone on with lectures even insisting to continue lecturing past the allotted time for the class. The class was so boring that people would often leave during the lecture before the end of class.
Three papers and three tests. Very easy, she goes over everything with you for the tests prior and grades easy on the papers. The classroom is what's unfortunate, she has this tone as though she whispers like your grandmother explaining something new and exciting, it's almost condescending. She'd also prefer to lecture than have a discussion, lame.
Professor. Rosenstand knows how to teach, how to get students involved with the course. One quiz every week, 10 short essays and one mid term paper. Overall, I really enjoyed the class!
Super easy, loved her!
Instructor Manley is extremely knowledgeable about philosophy. She is probably the toughest grader I had my first year of college, but she keeps the material interesting and exciting. The book is required, so get ready to read.
I took her class online and it was definitely one of the easiest classes I've taken online. A good amount of reading with a quiz every week. A few papers during the semester and she offers a lot of extra credit. Participation in discussions is important but rather easy because the topics are interesting. Easy and an interesting class to take!
Professor Rosenstand is a very good professor, I truly enjoyed her class! Her class is pretty easy if you stay on top of it, its based on discussions, quizzes, and a couple essays. I found her to be a bit of a tough grader for the essays but just get help on them and you should be fine. I really recommend taking her class & she offers extra credit!
My 1st philosophy class and wasnt too hard. Loved that she sent emails reminding us of upcoming due dates. 4 easy extra options worth 40 points. Recommend taking online. Not too confusing to keep up with. Several discussions (easy), short quizzes (didnt need textbook often, info was in modules!) and 3 written assignments (tough grader on these).
Professor Rosenstand is a great example of a solid, quality professor. I really like her lectures. All grading criteria is very straight forward. If you are shy, take her b/c she never calls on you unless you ask a Q. No class discussions or group work. I'm not shy at all but I have noticed this and she says she used to be shy so she understands.
Heres what you need to know about Philosophy 102B. $200 book required. Theres 3 exams, 1 paper. tests are easy if look at study guide and find answers in the book. Attendance is mandatory (3absences allowed). 4 extra credit worth 1% each, (90% to 94%) No homework, only lectures, she likes participation
Professor Rosenstand is great. Her lectures are actually interesting and the grading done in the class is a little bit of everything. You have participation things which add to your grades, small tests, and a few 3 page papers. Tests are easy as long as you take notes. Not too difficult or a class. 10/10 would take again
This class is an easy A. Professor is very specific on what she expects. Discussion posts, 3 essays, and quizzes. If you read the modules you will do just fine. Take this class.
Rosenstand gives good feedback especially since you use her textbook for the course. She also includes her past YouTube lectures to further explain certain ideas which can really help in this time of online classes. Also easily accessible which is always a plus!
Easy A, just do the readings
Very condescending teacher who thinks her limited book is the end-all knowledge of philosophy when it holds very little insight; not to mention how expensive it is when you can get vast amounts of information on the internet.
The class overall is pretty with easy 3 papers and 3 exams nothing hard, just the professor acts like a know it all and can be very condescending towards students. This course was honestly extremely boring and wouldn't take it again, not to mention the required textbook for the course is written by her.
Very easy class, all you have to do are the 3 papers and 11 discussions. The quizzes are a little wack with a 20 min time limit, but she lets you look up answers. She also offers a good amount of extra credit. Would take again.
She was a very easy class to take. Just read all the material she assigns, and the lectures are okay, and the quizzes are based off of her lectures, videos, and readings but mainly on the lectures. There's only like two or three papers to do throughout the semester but they are pretty manageable to complete.
Took a 4-week intersession class online. Super manageable. 2 discussions and 2 quizzes a week, one essay. Some of the reading in the book was overkill and could be confusing at times because of how it was presented and maybe because this was a first-time philosophy class for me. She did offer 40 points in extra credit. Grading was prompt.
nice and caring prof. gave lots of extra credit too which I love. assignments are pretty straight forward and organized. I could have definitely gotten a better score if I had fully made the time and proof read more but overall great class.
This is my favorite professor at Mesa. She is really smart, her lectures are easy to understand and she is super kind. She always has nice and helpful things to say and genuinely cares. Love her. I've taken lots of her classes, she is awesome!
Out of all the professors at Mesa, Rosenstand is one of the best. I have taken multiple of her courses, and would take them again for fun even though I am a compsci major. Her classes are lecture-heavy but if you complete the readings beforehand, they make lecture a lot easier to follow. Take her classes!! Highly recommend.
