Breaks down concepts for better understanding. Lectures are very insightful. You don't only learn the material, you learn to live it and apply it. There aren't many assignments and the tests are fairly easy if you do your reading.
Was a Great teacher!! Made things a lot more understandable!
I loved Sister G! She was incredibly knowledgeable and very sweet. Be prepared to participate once every few weeks bc participation counts as part of your grade! And don't miss class much - but weekly quizzes is really the only work you have. Few tests and her study guides covers most questions on the test! Not hard and definitely recommended!
Sister Galbraith is very nice. However, her lectures are long and boring. Her tests are extremely hard and sometimes what she lectures on isn't on the test. If you're a big time reader then I would recommend you to take this class. Reading assignments are a whole lot and are posted weekly. If you don't read then plan to fail.
If you pay close attention in class, and take lots of notes, then her quizzes are pretty easy to pass. You MUST participate to pass her class (participation is worth 33% of your grade). She gives very useful study guides before you take the test, and if you study it then you can get an "A" easy.
Sister Galbraith was great and I really liked this class. She does't assign very much homework, but there is a quiz due at the end of every week. Do the reading and you'll be fine. I enjoyed the class discussions and felt that I learned a lot from them. Be prepared to participate in class discussions, it's worth a chunk of your grade.
I don't usually do these but she deserves it. This was one of the best classes I have ever taken at BYUI. Sister Galbraith has a quiz every Monday before class and 3 tests for the whole semester. She has her masters in political science and has lived in many different countries so it makes her class really fun. Take her, you won't regret it!
She is a well-educated and experienced professor. She teaches with a passion. She wants you to be aware of what is going on around us in the world and its impact on America. I recommend this teacher.
Sister Galbraith is AWESOME! If you need to take American Foundations, TAKE HER! She goes through the most important things in class, so if you take notes or just pay attention, you will do fine! Quizzes are open notes, and tests come with a thorough study guide. Easy A if you just pay attention and participate in class. There's also extra credit!
I love listening to Sister Galbraith lecture. Her quizzes are tough but if you put in reading and listen in class then you'll do awesome. She is super good at listening and trying to help you do better. She will take questions and she loves talking about current events. She is so smart. This is an A that is fun and rewarding, I fully recommend her.
Good class, but a broad spectrum. If I had to choose to take this class from anyone, it would be from Sister Galbraith.
Sister Galbraith is an awesome professor. She is really good at getting the students involved and excited. You need to participate in class to get a good grade. If you read the textbook and keep up on notes and attend, its an easy A. STUDY OUTSIDE OF CLASS. I wish I could take more courses from Sister Galbraith, phenomenal.
Sister Galbraith impressed me from the very first day. She made it a point to know each of our names and get to know us a little bit more personally. I learned quickly that the reading assignments were not necessary because everything we'd read was later covered in class. So follow the reading questions as you take notes in class.
She is really nice and she knows what she's talking about. However, you have to read A LOT. She is hard to get ahold of, I sent two emails about things that I had questions on, and never got a response for either one. The tests are HARD. Hardly anything that you go over in class in on the test.
She wants you to be successful and gives you a lot of opportunities to do so. Take notes on the prep questions and you will know everything for the quizes. Open note quizes and the papers are easy.
Awesome Professor. I don't even like history and she made me enjoy the subject. There are long lectures but she keeps the information concise and clear. She applies the information we learn to the current events. Participation does matter but it is hard not to participate in the class. If you are going to take the class. Take Sister Galbraith!
She's a great teacher, knows her materials and can present them clearly for people to understand. It's not a hard class if you just do the reading and actually pay attention in class. She tries to make it easy for everyone to pass with good grades. If needed, just ask for help. She's willing to help.
I loved this class! I thought it was super interesting and she was a great teacher. She really explains everything and brings it to a deeper level of meaning. You really figure out WHY America is the way it is, it is super interesting. Just do the readings and take notes and it is an easy A. Sister Galbraith is awesome.
She's very helpful and kind. Every test has a study guide which she will give to you the week of the test and go over questions you have on it beforehand. She herself said that the class was the easiest of the FDAMF101 classes.
Sister Galbraith is a great teacher and really loves what she teaches. She asks for current events at the start of every class, and she has always already read up on whatever you will share! She's always willing to help and makes a huge effort to remember everyone's name - all 250+ of us
Sister Galbraith is a great teacher! She's very nice, very personable. Her class is very straightforward and she makes sure she is clear on how she grades. You really have to participate if you want to get an A. There's a lot of weekly reading, but as long as you keep on top of everything you're going to do just fine.
Sister Galbraith truly is a great professor!! I had a rough start to the semester because I read the first assignment wrong and got a bad grade...I approached her and she allowed me to redo the assignment and I ended with an A in the class. There are reading assignments before every class, it's very important to read them. Participation is CRUCIAL!
You have quiz one week and paper the next week. Super easy. She gives you the notes you NEED, and not any you dont. She gives prep questions which are the same as the test. Only 3 tests and she gives u a study guide. She helped me so much. Take her, participation matters, but as long as u speak once a week she'll give u full credit. Take her.
America Foundations isn't the most exciting class but Sister Galbraith is extremely passionate about what she teaches which keeps things interesting. The homework isn't hard as long as you stay up on it. She gives prep questions every week. PRINT THEM OUT AND DO IT. You'll pass with no problem if you do the prep questions. She answers them in class
Very well versed in world and local news, and very knowledgeable about politics in general. Easily distracted, but very detailed and passionate as a result.
Sister Galbraith made me interested in a subject that I've never enjoyed much. FDAMF is a required course at BYUI, & I was ready to get it over with, but she made everything so clear & fun. Three exams, each with thorough study guides & a class before each devoted to review. She's funny and knowledgeable and has been all over the world. Take her!
I have NEVER like history classes, EVER, but this was the first one I enjoyed! Sister Galbraith is a fantastic teacher. Her lectures are very interesting. Every week you will do either a timed quiz or a paper that has to be under a page, they are so easy it takes seriously about 30 to do. The test reviews are very helpful. If you want an A take her
Sister Galbrieth is an amazing teacher. She knows what she is teaching and she tries really hard for all her students to understand the material she is teaching. The quizzes and tests are very hard though, but that isn't her fault. They are worded tricky and history isn't my forte so maybe it was just me. Study, study, study!
Sister Galbraith was an amazing teacher. She is so passionate, kind, helpful, and makes the class interesting. I would definitely recommend taking FDAMF101 from her.
Sister Galbraith is an amazing professor! My class was huge (more than 100 students) so participation was hard sometimes but overall a pretty normal and average teacher and class. Easy schedule of notes, quizzes, readings, videos, and test over and over. I would definitely recommend her to anyone taking FDAMF101.
Sister Galbraith was a great instructor! She made the content really interesting and easy to learn. The tests can be difficult but you're provided with plenty of material to prepare, just be ready to read. The current events were great at the beginning of class and she was always super funny. I would definitely take her again!
Sister Galbraith is a good professor. Grading criteria and expectations are clearly outlined in her syllabus, which I'm sure you'll end up checking at least 30 times throughout the course. Assignments are simple and easy and she prepares her students well for exams. She fosters an environment of enlightening class discussions.
AWESOME teacher. Sincerely cares about the students and knows what she is talking about. I learned so much in this class. You do write quite a few papers and there is reading (don't let this scare you off, it is good stuff!) but it is not difficult and the textbook is so informative I kept it afterwards. I was always excited to come to this class:)
I loved Sister Galbraith!! She is very caring and gets to know her students personally. She makes the material more interesting and fun. There aren't a lot of papers or assignments. My other friend had the same course with a different professor and she always had a ton of assignments to do while I was able to focus on other classes as well.
Amazing. She told my class of 100+ students that her goal was to get all of our names down. She is so passionate about what she teaches and she makes things so fun. I personally don't like history but I love her class! She is amazing. If you do your work, you will get an A. Shes simple and fair and shes also freaking funny.
Sister Galbraith is good, but the class itself is just okay; it's a foundations class. She has a nice balance of group work and lecture. Her class discussions were good.
Sister Galbraith is the best American Foundations teacher at BYU-Idaho. She is very knowledgeable and is always excited to teach her students, because she cares about them and the subject material. All my other friends struggled in their AMF class, but for me it was easy and very enjoyable. Take her if you can!
Awesome. I wish she taught more classes. I liked her class and as long as you do your work, you'll get an A. I really liked her and her discussions were great and interesting.
She is super nice but was kind of degrading when she responded to an email. I learned to not only write down what she has on the powerpoints and puts on the board but also what she is saying while explaining stuff otherwise you just have random words in your notes that don't make sense. Be sure and expand on what she's saying and you'll do great.
Knowledgeable when it comes to the superficial knowledge that is obtained from looking at issues without their deeper causes. Basically she believes, in full, the philosophy that "for every hour of class, there should be two hours of study/homework." This ends up being a lot of busy work that is deemed "participatory," but is ultimately superfluous
Sister Galbraith is super nice and helpful. She was trying something new this semester so we had homework every time we had class. It's not difficult but sometimes her instructions aren't clear. Definitely pay attention during her lectures because she gives you the exact information that you'll need on the tests. She does give extra credit.
Unprofessional and unprepared. She never had her lecture ready for class and if she did, she wouldn't use it. Learned more from the TA during study sessions. Never explained the homework. Doesn't know how to use iLearn. Ridiculously hard or super easy test questions. No middle ground.
Great teacher who is passionate about American Foundations. You can learn so much if you complete the prep work and participate in class.
This is hands down my favorite class and teacher I have ever had . Economics actually make sense to me now. The key to getting a A is to DO THE DAILY ASSIGNMENTS!! 75% of your grade comes from this, and if you miss no class you get extra credit. If you do those things and take notes there is no reason you should not get an A!
I really enjoyed taking American Foundations from her. She brings energy and perspective to a notoriously boring class.
Sister Galbraith is hands down my favorite teacher I have ever had! She genuinely cares about each of her students & will go out of her way (anytime & anywhere) to help anyone & everyone. She cares a lot. 2nd: History is boring most of the time but she is so passionate about it that its fun! 3rd: She is EXTREMELY organized. Take history from her!
Sister Galbraith was amazing! She always helped us students and was able to understand some of our problems. However, the way she set up I-Learn was kind of difficult so you may want to pay attention when she gives directions about I-Learn. Overall shes great and make sure you study hard and pay attention to the lectures.
Sister Galbraith was my favorite teacher! She's so caring & knows her stuff. Her lectures were really interesting & her class was really interactive. You do have a text book but you can get it on Amazon kindle for 99 cents & just use it in your internet browser which saved me a ton of money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED HER!!!
Its not really Sister Galbraiths fault, but this class is just organized strangely. You basically get taught the same thing over and over, but then the tests are pulled from little details about the readings that you probably wont remember. She is helpful though! Also you better hope you get assigned a good group!
Pre class readings, written insights to turn in every class period, exams in class and aren't too long, and a few group papers and presentations. Overall the homework was straightforward and she's always available to answer questions. She really cares about her students and is passionate about religious freedom. A really awesome and chill class!
Sister Galbraith knows her stuff, but the class that I took (FDSCI 213) isn't structured. You are expected to read theoretical ideas from dozens of different sources without knowing at the time what is important to know. Test preparation was nearly impossible because of all of the sources required.
She is very unorganized. The instructions she has on I learn are not good. They are very vague, and I often was confused on how to do an assignment. She does not respond to her emails and is not helpful when you have a question. I would not take this class from her.
Sister Galbraith is so sweet! I really enjoyed my class with her. Yes, she can be a bit spacey sometimes. However, if you make the effort to go talk to her, she will help you as much as she can. She genuinely cares about her students. The class is easy if you do your assignments and try. I really love Sister Galbraith, she makes history fun!
She really loves what she is teaching and is very passionate about this class. This class can either be very difficult or very easy, depending on your teacher, SO CHOOSE SISTER GALBRAITH, the only thing you really need to worry about are the exams, but there is always a really good review day to prepare you, so make sure you don't miss it.
She is an amazing teacher. She is so caring. Her homework follows a schedule and is easy to keep up. There are a few group projects. Nothing bad.
Absolutely amazing. She is very passionate about her class and does a really good gob teaching it simply enough for us to understand. I 100% recommend. Many student at BYUI say this is the hardest class, but I think if they had sister Galbraith they would think differently. Its a foundation class so you need it to graduate, so get Galbraith.
Basically I either want to become sister Galbraith or I want her to be my best friend. She did an amazing job at teaching and helping you see the importance of the class. You really get out what you put in. She also does a good job with uniting the class and allowing people to freely share their thoughts. Overall a fun and passionate teacher.
Great class that was difficult but you learn a lot! Awesome professor and TA!
EVERYONE MUST TAKE THIS COURSE! Sis. Galbraith is really nice. She is also very knowledgable about religious freedom and has had many experiences around the world. Sometimes the instructions given were unclear. However, if you ask for help she will explain instructions to you. The main project was great because we did parts throughout the semester.
Amazing class if you love the topic. She assigns groups that you sit and work with the entire semester. Online reading quizzes before each class. Three tests. Multiple group projects. Easy class if you can stay on top of the group work. The tests are worded weirdly but 70% of it is individual and 30% is group.
Daily online quizzes before classes based off of reading. You work in a group throughout the whole semester. The tests are partially personal and partially in the group. She is a caring person who gets to know her students.
This is a pretty average college class. It's mostly based on textbook, lectures, tests. The tests are really not too bad. Doesn't listen to any political opinions that don't agree with hers and doesn't allow for a lot of exploration or independent thinking. She makes everything political but doesn't want to listen to any new opinions.
Sister Galbraith is awesome. Super kind and caring and understanding! Canvas was kind of a mess in the class, but she always made sure to make it right if there were mistakes. Super awesome subject that she is very passionate about! You are assigned to a group through the whole semester, but it is actually really nice.
She's really passionate about this subject, but not really the most knowledgable about the course material. The entire course is centered around group projects, so if your assigned group isn't great you will not pass.
Sis Galbraith really is amazing. She's very understanding and hard working to help students do well. She's available for questions, but can be difficult to reach if you don't catch her in class. She's also one of the less.... extreme... people on campus. By that I mean she tries to not make things a Mormon echo chamber in the class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you want an easy science credit. She never responds to emails and takes a long time to grade things. She's passionate about the subjects but not when it comes to helping her students and give feedback. Terrible class.
I took her for American Foundations, and I enjoyed her class then. I decided to take her for an easy science class option, and it was a good class. I learned a lot and she is very passionate about the subject. Although that is the case, if you try to email her, don't expect an email back. Get ready for a lot of questions about grades and work.
Sister Galbraith makes you work in groups so that is a large part of your grade. She doesn't respond to emails. Instead of lecturing about the course topic she spends her time talking about her world travels and her kids. If you ask her questions she will say "I don't know", especially if she doesn't agree politically. She avoids class discussions.
I LOVED Sister Galbraith and her American Foundations class! Shes lived in several countries, so she has a lot of cool firsthand experience on topics discussed. There are a few in-class group assignments, but theyre not a big deal; most of your grade comes from easy quizzes based on the textbook. Overall, this teacher's amazing and super caring!
I was excited to take the Religious Freedom class but it was definitely not as interesting as I thought it would be. Very repetitive. Lots of reading that I wasn't ever sure what I was supposed to be getting from it. So so so unorganized and it drove me nuts. Super nice lady but doesnt respond to emails and isn't super great with technology.
Wonderful teacher, did great for teaching this class for her first time.
Sister Galbraith knows her stuff. She is very knowledgable and will answer all your questions. She was very difficult to get ahold of and hardly ever answered my emails. If she did answer, it was a few days later. If you are looking for a responsive teacher, I wouldn't recommend her, but she does know her stuff!
Out of all the teachers and professors that I have had SINCE KINDERGARTEN, Sister Galbraith is my ALL TIME FAVORITE! She cares about you and your studies. She wants to help! Her lectures are absolutely amazing, you can feel the spirit, and you know that she knows her stuff! She helped me love history and encouraged me to learn more! TAKE HER CLASS!
I was excited for class when S. Galbraith explained she lived around the world. I thought this would help her teach things from different perspectives. Nevertheless, it was just to show how her close minded opinion was the only thing that mattered. When it comes to politics, she was never neutral and I felt uncomfortable during her lectures.
Sis. Galbraith doesn't understand political science very well. Most of what she teaches isn't consistent with what other Political science teachers teach here at the university. Lectures are long and boring. The best part was wasting time by talking to other people in group time.
Sis Galbraith is a nice teacher, who will answer any questions you may have. However, she tends to go less into detail on some subjects, such as some presidents and imperialism, which, if you dont do the reading, can hurt you in the finals.
I personally do not know history. I had to take it to take the praxis. She admitted the first day that she did not know what was on the test. I struggled on tests because I knew the bare minimum. Some days I left more confused about the topic then when I went in. She also lectures the entire time, but you have to be a fast writer to catch it all.
I was very disappointed with this class. Sister Galbraith didnt know how to keep her opinions out of the classroom and it just turns uncomfortable at points. If she doesnt agree with you your opinion doesnt matter. She also never responds to emails. Shes literally unreachable. Shes not understanding at all if you miss class.
Sister Galbraith is the best! Her classes focus on reading material and then taking notes in class. She is very understanding and works with her students. The tests are the exact study guide which she goes over before the test opens. She does lecture a lot but she keeps them entertaining. I would highly recommend this class.
Ignore the grade received for this class to judge the professor. That grade was due to an unforeseen event that came into my life near the end of the semester. Sister Galbraith is so caring and super knowledgeable about history! I love the insights she gave and her lectures are engaging. She is there to help you prepare for the Praxis.
I love that she gave a wonderful exam guide for my class. That helps me to get an A
I would definitely take Sister Galbraith again! Her class is mostly lecture but she involves the class. If you take notes and review them you'll do great. If you miss a couple days it's not too bad, she will go over the information again right before a test comes up! Sometimes there are longer videos to watch for homework, but no too bad.
She's a really great person. Her teaching style is a little odd, and there are often times when she doesn't really know what the assignments require, but she knows the subject well and it's pretty easy for a 3 credit class. You do a lot of group work, but it's not all that hard and you can get it done really easily.
Her loose grasp of the curriculum is heavily persuaded by her political opinions. Her incoherent notes reflect her poor grammar. If you aren't in class hearing her speak her notes have no meaning. She inappropriately wastes time talking about the achievements of her kids. Don't waist your time reaching out, she won't respond.
I took American Heritage. The class is easy enough but gives you what you need to understand the material. Quizzes aren't tricky, great reading material. She's a good teacher and I like the effort she puts into teaching us.
I was super excited to take this class, but I dropped it. The first week was interesting. You work with a group from week 2-14. You have a group project and paper due at the end of the semester. The course load felt like too much for a class that fulfills a general/social science credit. She doesn't respond to emails either.
Sister Galbraith was the best professor! She is very insightful and knew how to stay professional when another student was contradicting with certain topics. She made sure not to give her opinion and stayed unbiased. I love how she has lived in different parts of the country so she knew how different governments really worked! Learned a lot!
Sister Galbraith sets up the class for you to be successful. Make sure to be in class, because in class assignments impact your grade a lot. They are not hard, you just have to be there! She is very clear in class and as long as you take notes, you will pass every test.
GECIV 100 is very easy, but Sister Galbraith is one of the worst professors I've ever had. She constantly shares her own political opinions. I regret taking this class during an election year because she never stopped trying to persuade us to her political beliefs. She spent twice the time preaching her political views than teaching the material.
