Lecture not bad. Most unreasonable professor I've met. Wrote an answer correctly my test & was told that I got it wrong, but didn't explain it when the question didn't ask for 1. Changes mind a lot, inconsistent, piles up more work on you, incoherent at times, can't follow the lab's directions, doesn't listen to students. Just STUDY & don't argue
Huge accent. It makes for difficulty in understanding her directions which really doesn't matter I guess since she will change her directions halfway through a lab. Often unprepared, not enough supplies, equiptment, and handouts for entire class. Missed quizzes only taken on date of final. Speak up and she's intimidated, will grade easier on you.
I hate chemistry but she made it very easy to understand. Tests are easy, just study the hw. She is much easier than chiarello in my opinion. But with any class, do not slack off. she makes it easy to get an A!
She is good, but try not to sleep during class or you will get in trouble lol. She tries her best, so should you. she lets lab out early if you finish and take home tests!!!!! =)
She is cool but sometimes seems busy (maybe she teaches at other places too?). Just make sure you sit in the front so she thinks you really want to learn. The best thing about her is that she'll add you even if you're not on the waitlist or if the waitlist is full, how nice is that, totally awesome, totally recommended..but don't slack off!! lol
good for in class not good in labs. tests are extermely difficult.
Prof. Guha's class is very fast paced. Studying is key.. as long as you do that the quizzes and tests are not to difficult. Labs kinda suck, you're on your own mostly but at least the lab quizzes are easy, she grades generously on them. Id recommend taking her class.
Dr. Guha is a nice person and very smart. Her lectures are quick paced abd exams almost every other week! I had a problem with her on a power point lecture assignment. She did'nt give out adequate instruction about it and approved my subject twice and then said it had to be changed 10 days before it was due. Make her give you the info on the po
shes not easy
I cannot believe how well this teacher gets rated on here. She is terrible. She goes very fast in class, only has one way to teach. Don't bother asking for help or you will be more confused than when you started. Just show up to class, read the book, and study all the frickin time and you will MAYBE get a B like I did. Try to Take another teacher!
Ok I like chem, but she is one of the worst chem teachers ever. I couldn't really understand her in lectures and she doesn't help. For every test or quiz, I had to read the book and teach myself everything, which worked better than her teaching. I still got A's on the test, but she was no help at all. Fast paced, just goes through powerpoints.
shes pretty difficult and it felt like she gives you your overall grade off hand, like she'll just guess what your grade is by looking at you. i thought i was doing fine, but i guess not. dont take her
She's hard for many people because she can dock points for small things on her tests which quickly leads to lower grades. She's super EASY because she literally tells you what's going to be on the test. People who don't do well in this class aren't studying very well. Study with the book and lecture notes because questions come from there!
Her lab quizzes are a nightmare because she doesn't even prepare you for them. We had to memorize an entire lab procedure which was crazy for her to do. The entire class had to do a presentation about diseases and how they're cured with drugs. Make sure you do your presentation at an earlier date so you wouldn't have to worry about it later.
She expects you to already know chem concepts and she's a picky grader and rushes through lectures. Lab quizzes are really hard because she doesn't prepare you for them. She really needs to work on her english and teaching skills.
She comes off as a mean teacher, but she's actually easy going if you talk to her, her quizes are easy, lab exams aren't too complicated. You just have to really go over her notes and memorize them to get a good grade. She really isn't as bad as she seems, a little disorganized though.
This class seems like it would be hard, but overall it isn't very difficult at all. Notes are straight forward and reading the chapters and doing the practice questions is exactly what you need for quizzes and tests. She doesn't really prepare you for lab quizzes, but as long as you study you'll be fine. Study what she tells you for the exams too.
Professor Guha is a very nice lady and I thought that her lectures were pretty clear. Make sure to really study the book though. Do the practice problems and you will be fine. Its a lot of memorizing structures but I wouldn't say that it was too much to handle. My only complaint would be that you are completely on your own for lab.
she is a very nice teacher. She is the best chemistry teacher at Ohlone. She is very helpful and will help you when ever you need her help. If you are not clear with the topic then she will help you in any way. I strongly recommend her. And one more thing! Attend her every lecture and lab.
come on guys, she loves to teach chemistry and she is nice to everyone. she is tough on you if you do stupid things. highly recommended!!!!!!!!!
She's a nice lady and recommended. Don't miss lecture, read the chapters and you'll be fine. She may go a little fast so don't hesitate to ask questions. She always send study guides that are helpful!
goes through material too quickly to really comprehend due to her constantly trying to keep up with lab. Labs were always ahead of lecture so you never really knew the formulas or how to do them.
Take her class if Chemistry comes easy for you.
She likes to think of herself as superior. She calls herself a doctor when she is not. She makes lots of mistakes in lecture and grading. She takes points for your small mistakes. She is the worst chemistry INSTRUCTOR! Lab is pointless. Choose her and you will be teaching yourself a lesson.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Unorganized, will mess up your grade so keep your papers. Labs are chaos and useless, she does not know the material herself so be ready to teach yourself everything. She teaches things wrong, and has had to call her lab tech to ask how to do a lab. ridiculous. do not take!!
TERRIBLE TEACHER. Lectures- confusing, just teach yourself. Labs- useless. not only is the entire class confused about what to do, so is guha. She doesn't know the material, so she will teach you wrong or tell you the wrong instructions. you will spend hours getting frustrated then she wont even collect/grade the lab.
Took her for Summer 12' & she was so bad. Class was 2 hrs & lab was 4 hrs long. She's so indecisive by moving quizzes, tests, lab tests around TOO much. Grades wrong so keep all your papers. Lab test is worthless. When she's done lecturing she tries to kill time by doing a bunch of problems. Also she's never there during lab b/c she always leaves.
Prof. Guha is extremely disorganized, and she is useless in the lab. During lecture, the class is constantly correcting her on the material she is teaching. She is by far the worst college professor I have ever had. Please be aware if you take this class you will be paying to teach yourself Chemistry.
She's fairly easy. Always review her quizzes before midterms. Midterms are very similar to quizzes. Always double check the answers you get wrong on the scantrons, because you may have the correct answer marked wrong. She explains the concept pretty well. Much studying isn't required if you are attentive in class.
she is very helpful, interesting, and enthusaistic instructor. I`m lucky that i got her as my instructor for my class, i would like to recommend you all guys to take her class!!! she explains her lectures, labs , and gives review sheets so its easy to follow. But if you don't study then the course is tough. She explains all the topics in detail.
it was nice taking chemistry class with her. she is nice and helpful. she discusses all the questions from the book to theres no confusion in the chapter. You will learn a lot from her guys.
Material is only easy if you go to lectures to have her introduce it, then go home and read the chapters and teach yourself. I got an A by teaching myself. Midterms consist of old quizzes. She leaves the room alot during lab. Yes she is disorganized, but she'll do whatver you ask if you keep bugging her. She was not awful. One easy project.
I took this class over summer and I loved it. The instructor focused on the important things we should know and she is very helpful in explaining new concepts. Make sure you do all the practice questions she assigns as they will help you with the quizzes and exams. Her quizzes are intensive and help prepare for exams. Her lectures are very useful.
She`s a wonderful teahcer. all you have to do is to pay attention to her lectures and take notes that`s it, you will get a good satsifying grade. You need to practice the questions she gives to you.
Loved taking chemistry with her. She helps a lot if you approach her. Although my summer classes are meant to be hectic she made it a cruise for me. I highly recommend taking chem with her.
She makes it chemistry so much easier. just attend class, pay attention with the text book in front of you. Do all the practice questions she requests and the all of the questions she sends for the midterm and final(its vital). She is really helpful, nice, and knows her material. i recommend reading the text.
Excellent teacher. Very helpful. Have no idea why some people gave her bad reviews. She is one of the best. Kept class interested in subject and we all loved to come to class and learn. I was skeptical after seeing some bad reviews but I can bet that they were area lies. Would love to take any class taught by her. Great teaching...
Teacher was very horrible, she expects you to learn all of it on your own. She would do all of the easy material and expect you to learn all of the hard material on your own and if you ask her to repeat or to show how to do something she would tell you that you should have already known how to do it. labs were very confusing we had a different proff
Really helpful teacher who will keep explain it till you get it. She's more than willing to answer any questions. She gives you an incredibly helpful study guide before each exam but if you don't go to class and read the book, you definitely won't get an A. Tests aren't hard but you have to study and really get the concepts.
Wonderful instructor!! She covers limited but the important topics which is very helpful. Her class is very organized. Gives study guides before each exam that are to the point. I highly recommend her for chem 109.
She is very helpful, interesting, and enthusaistic instructor. I`m lucky that i got her as my instructor for my class, i would like to recommend you all guys to take her class
She is very disorganized with her tests and always postpones them. There basically isn't any point in having a syllabus. She is however generous for not moving on a lesson if people still don't get it. But she never checks pre-lab, only during consensus week. So going up to her after class to get it signed isn't even necessary.
She is a very helpful teacher easy grader. Gives all study guide by mail before tests.
I like her energy, love her patience and understanding. She knows the subject well and can move quickly but is crystal clear in her teaching of the material and is there when you need help! She teaches foundational concepts essential to build on in other science classes. Her lectures clarify reading and homework problems. Great exp., inspirational
Professor Guha was rather straightforward and helpful in her teaching style. She provided students with the lecture Powerpoint slide presentations, as well as study guides for the exams. She also allowed a 3 X 5 index card for the quizzes, and the assigned homework problems were specific to the tests. Very responsive via e-mail correspondence.
Professor Guha is really nice to begin with. She makes chemistry very easy to learn but you have to keep up with the class which means if you missed one of her lecture, you are more likely to fall behind. I learned a lot from her in the 8 weeks course and definely would take her again. Bonus: study guide, extra credit, flash cards.
As long as you do the work out of the assigned book you will be getting an A. The work isnt required, but if you do it the class will be a breeze. If you have trouble with a concept she is willing to help.
Professor Guha will always spend the extra time to make sure you understand the concepts in class. Ask questions and pay attention in lab and lecture, and you will do well.
Prof. N Guha is very organized and helpful teacher. Her homework assignments make students almost ready for the test. She gives sufficient time to make students understand the subject.
Clear informative lectures, organized homework and practice work assignments. Moderately difficult
Professor Guha is an excellent professor. Even if you don't have a background in chemistry, she goes in great detail in her lectures so you could clearly understand her lesson plan (which I liked very much). She always offers extra help after lecture and during lab so if you had any trouble understanding something she's there for guidance!
This was my first college course and Prof Guha made the transition very easy. She is very helpful and organized. She gives practice question to get you ready for the quizzes and test.
Excellent teacher!! Made chemistry easier for me. Will give practice questions and home works from each chapter. Discusses the questions in Class. She gives enough time to prepare for the tests and quizzes. Makes sure the class understands her lecture. If there is any doubt regarding a section, she is willing to help. I highly recommend her.
Very unorganized and very unclear on what homework is suppose to be done. Also, she made us take a quiz which didnt count at the end of the class time because not enough people finished it. Would go through the powerpoint too fast and not even know which slides she was teaching from.
Very clear and detailed in her lectures. Always available to help students after class. Gives lots of practice quizzes and reviews material before tests. Study your notes and pay attention in class and you will do well in Prof Guha's class.
I took her class at foothill college. She is a GREAT teacher. She is always prepared, well organized and has "high teaching skills". She explaines everything so well that when you read her notes and slides, everything will make sence. You need to participate, take good notes and ask your doubts and you will be fine! I enjoyed her class very much!
Professor Guha is one of the best chemistry professors at Foothill College. She has an amazing style of teaching. I am very happy I took her class. She is very knowledgeable, professional, and organized. She makes it very clear what you need to study for in her class. I'm excited to take Chem 30B with her. Highly recommended!
I have taken chem 109 this semester at Ohlone College. The lectures are straight forward. She is awesome, gives practice questions in class and is always clear on what she expects from the students. There aren't many quizzes. Everything taught is on the exam so it is all upto a student to come well prepared.
I came back to take class after 3 years, definitely made it lot easier and her practice question are what we need focus on to get a good grades in midterms and exams.
Starting out was difficult, but ehen I tried an put effort she noticed. She cared that I would pass the class an gave me a few pointers. I would definitely have communication with the professor and you will do fine.
Was great in the lectures and lab was cool too. The practice questions usually turn up in the test so that was very helpful. All in all a good teacher but tough material to learn.
She's kinda disorganized but the class wasn't too hard. She gives practice questions frequently and some/most of them usually turn up on the exams and final. She also assigns homework but its optional, but if you do all of the homework of the semester you get extra credit which was nice.
She is a bit disorganized, but it's understandable especially since I took this course over the summer, so it's a much faster pace. She is really kind, and is very clear while teaching the concepts. She gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, because she genuinely cares about her students' grades. Ask questions you are unsure about.
I find professor Guha 's class very interesting class very helpful .She teaches well and help to when are have question .she makes understand comprehensive material into smaller component. she is well versed with the knowledge of the subject matter.I recommened student taking her class .It was enjoyable.
I respect her for being able to teach at multiple schools but oh my... Her lectures are so confusing to the point that students have to correct her mistakes. Her tests are mildly hard. Do not take this class if you are not familiar with Chemistry. You will struggle A LOT.. Just like the half of the class right now..
She's honestly the worst professor I ever had. Communication sucks and sends things last minute. Ex) Tells students that there is homework on during break but never notifies beforehand. Like CMON WE HAVE A LIFE. GIVE US A BREAK. Tests are also disorganized as some answers would be wrong. To sum it all, just don't take her.
So many regrets taking this class. Its understandable that she has a lot on her plate from teaching between schools and being a parent, however it really takes a toll on the quality of the class. Not very organized and assigns very random due dates to the homework which means many students miss the due date. Unless you're amazing at chem, avoid her
Save yourself. Unless you really want to possibly fail the class, try another professor. She is beyond unorganized. This completely affects how you learn in class, and how well you do. She gets confused with her other classes, does not have a properly scheduled due date for each chapter's homework, and constantly busy with anything but the class.
I personally did not like her. She was very disorganized throughout the whole semester and as much as I worked hard I still found myself lost during the lectures as she was all over the place at times. She's nice but not a great professor. Avoid her if you can!
i TOOK BIOCHEMISTRY AT OHLONE COLLEGE, FREMONT SUMMER 2018. IT WAS A FAST PACED SUMMER CLASS. SUMMER CLASS ARE FAST PACE, HOWEVER MY PROFESSOR MISS GUHA DID AN EXCELLENT JOB TEACHING US, PROVIDES SCENARIO AND EXAMPLES TO UNDERSTAND THE TOPIC AND LECTURE. SHE WANT HER STUDENTS TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT AND HOW IT APPLIES TO BIOCHEMISTRY.
Professor Guha makes high level content clear and understandable! She gives homework that is relevant to her test questions. If you take good notes in class and complete the homework, you can do well in class. She expects you to put in the time to learn. This is not a skate by class. You have to work, but you actually learn a whole lot!!
Wants her students to do well not only in this class but other science classes students may take in the future and gives pointers for those classes. Take note of what she mentions will be on the exam during lectures. She gives study guides/tells what is going to be on the exam which is helfpful. Very approachable
Honestly if you have to take this class choose a different professor. Her lectures are all over the place and is never prepared. In the beginning of the semester she gave out a syllabus and never followed it. I highly recommend never taking her.
I had Professor Guha mainly for lab . She was mostly hands off in the way she handled the class, and offered short tutorials in the beginning of class. There is little to no homework required except for short pre-lab write ups you have to have before class starts. She offers an answer key for all work for you to learn from instead of teaching.
I would say the award for the WORST professor in the world goes to her! She is so bad with lectures, she mainly just paces it and expects you to know them. She does not really teach, and just goes over the book! Your grade is based on the midterm exams and the final! She will not give any hw, practice qs, study guide, etc. for you to study for!
Just dont. I wasted half a semester trying to keep up with her lectures. She goes really fast with barely any examples. I read the reviews prior to taking her but since the other classes were full I decided to take my Chances. Big mistake. I highly suggest taking someone else if you have no prior chemistry knowledge and actually want to learn.
She teaches at 5 different colleges and gets confused by everything very often. She is easily taken advantage of by students because she doesn't even remember what's going on in class. She's nice, but her disorganization causes the class to fall behind on learning and even she gets confused by what she's teaching sometimes. She doesn't teach well.
She would read materials from the slides, but those slides are very informative and helpful for both learning and exams. The lecture goes very fast, the majority is clear and some are confused if you don't pay close attention. Most of her quizzes would be pop quizzes, only the exam is set for a date. Overall, she's good.
Professor Guha is tolerable at best. She is quite disorganized, though it is possible to pass with an A if you self-study. She moves through slides really fast, and has a tendency to mumble between slides. Sometimes, she also doesn't seem prepared at every class. Tests are easy if you do practice Q's, and as long as you don't miss class it'll be ok
If you enjoy chemistry, easily understand concepts, and can keep up with a fast-paced class, you'll probably be fine. Professor Guha's lectures are difficult to keep up. During COVID-19, she was difficult to reach and seemed to have no idea what she was doing. During zoom, she would often eat and cook in the background.
This professor is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. You spend hours at home teaching yourself because the lectures are useless and unorganized just to have her change the material that will be on the test. She is very unorganized, doesn't know what she assigned for hw or when things are due. NEVER responds to emails. DO NOT TAKE CLASS W HER
Dr. Guha knows her stuff very well. She gives lectures through slides and they were enough to get you through the exams and quizzes. She also gives homework to help you practice and acquire skills ( they have clinical applications as well which sort of prepare you for your future career). Ask questions, don't hesitate and you will succeed!
she's very disorganized and isn't proficient with canvas or zoom. she only reads about half of my emails. if I didn't take chemistry in high school I would be very lost bc she's not very good at explaining concepts. offers no extra credit. No second chances on anything, even online homework questions. I would recommend not taking her if possible.
I had to retake chem at Ohlone because the one from a different school didnt transfer over. With that said, you will have a hard time if you never took chem before. She is VERY disorganized, doesnt know how to use Canvas/online teaching tools efficiently, and doesnt answer messages. Quizzes and tests are open book/note. Good luck.
I had to work extremely hard to pass Guha's class. She does want you to pass and will answer any questions you have, but you will be teaching yourself most of the time. Make sure to find friends in this class and make study groups. Good luck!
Terrible, disorganized, completely illiterate when it comes to anything computers! She's not even a real professor. Be ready to self teach yourself. Cannot lecture. Is she nice, yes. Drop her class and run away from this professor
Professor has a very thick accent. So, if you have a hard time understanding heavy accents I do not recommend it. She also does not follow the schedule given by Ohlone. Her labs are very time-consuming. She moves very fast in class. And she is very difficult to get ahold of outside of class. Tests take place outside of class time.
She teaches straight from Pearson lecture slides. Prepare to learn from self-study. She won't be responsive to emails and is very tech illiterate. Lectures & labs will be extended. Quizzes & exams have to be started & finished after the class period. Don't plan to have work or another class after her's. Steer clear of her for virtual classes.
She is sooo disorganized and knows absolutely nothing about technology. She didn't know there was a mute button on youtube videos and she did them over zoom with her bad wifi. Her lectures are slides that are straight from the book. If you take her class be prepared to learn EVERYTHING on your own with no help.
Disorganized/ineffective lecturer in a badly designed course. Spends the first 10 wks just going through basic chem, so if you've taken chem before, you'll be bored. If no experience, this crash course won't be enough to bring you up to speed. Then in the last 5 wks, you'll rush through biochem too shallowly for any meaningful learning for anyone.
Abysmal lecturer. Gave out wrong info often; students often had to correct her or even reteach lessons for her. Wasted class time by canceling or shortening labs. She was prepared for class exactly zero times (had to upload materials during lectures). Tried to just "teach to the test" but failed even at that; exams often had material not covered.
Oral Lab exams are provided without study guides and often she cuts off people who are answering, and oral lab exams drag or bring your grade down by a lot. The labs take very long or past hours - do not recommend unless you are willing to read all the time, lectures are exactly like textbook.
So bad I cried
I am a nursing major, and a freshman in college. This was one of the first classes I took, and I'm almost ready to change majors because of how this class made me feel. Maybe it was just bad choice of taking this class first but, this is what my counselor said so that is what I took. If you are a freshman, please do not take this professor.
Only class available and would've been better off taking no class at all. Not worth taking and had to end up dropping. Basically a self taught class and very fast pace. DO NOT TAKE.
It was really difficult to understand her accent. She is a nice professor however it is really difficult to pass this class since she is a tough grader.
She's a fantastic professor, but in 109 she doesn't have the time to lecture, instead giving the class videos of her lecturing to watch at their own time. This makes sense, because only meeting once a week means you can only dedicate time to the labs, which are run great. Her tests are clear, but you gotta do your reading or you won't pass.
Really is simple and easy to go at your own pace. The homework is more focused on making sure you know the material rather than counting as points. The professor can seem intimidating but she's actually really helpful if you ask her and she really tries to make sure all her students are doing well in the class and are keeping up.
I wanted to rate this professor well, she is very nice and tries to help. Unfortunately, she is very disorganized, her tests had MANY typos and errors. Her online lectures are subpar and her tests have questions about material we didn't learn. She told us the final was comprehensive and emphasized that...then 4 days before the final she changed it.
I enjoyed learning from Professor Guha. Chem 109 was a great class.
I dropped her class as quick as I could when she messed up her own announcements and blamed it on the students. She is disorganized and unhelpful, and let students deal with hazardous chemicals without guidance. She seems annoyed when you go to ask for help, and her tests are unpredictable as well. Her overall course is confusing, beware.
Great teacher. Very knowledgeable regarding bio chem. Would love to have her as my instructor again for another class. 100% recommendations.
Honestly, this professor is very disorganized. Someone in the class drop a test tube and she ignored the fact that she heard it. Even though the whole class saw and heard it. She confuses her due dates. She's says something else in class and does something else online. She gets fed up if we ask her too many questions. Take her if you know chemistry
I asked if there was any room in the class because I was on the wait list and hadn't heard back. She didn't address me nicely and simply e maild back "no". Very rude. I understand if there's no space but I would think you would say hi x unfortunately there is no room in my class this semester take care etc. 0/10 stars.
Very challenging class, very fast paced, and also she is rude... I would not recommend taking this class if you are not good at chemistry. Grading is so strict.
Professor Guha is a knowledgeable instructor, but her organization could use some work. The lectures and tests can be hit or miss, so staying on top of the material is key. Thankfully, Unstuck ai has been a game-changer for study prep in this class.
I do not understand why Professor Guha has been given such a low rating! I took her hybrid class, and I was able to reach out for the help I needed. She provides lots of extra materials, and when asked, she is willing to give you even more extra practice. Given that, the course was not the easiest, but if you put in the effort, you will pass.
I took Professor Guha in the Fall and her class isn't even bad. I took her hybrid lecture, in person lab. She never had pop quizzes, labs were easy, always ask questions. Always, always ask questions. She provides lots of study material and that's why I loved her. Her tests were very similar to her study practice questions. Personally I loved her.
Asynchronous class so only in person lab. Class is difficult since most learning is done on your own. Ease of class will depend on learning style, definitely find a friend to study alongside with. Professor is great. Explains well in lab and cares about your learning. Labs are cool Textbook and HW access code will be needed
The lectures were online, and the un-interactiveness of it made it boring/unclear at times, but the professor made it clear what parts we had to know and what part we didn't have to know. Labs were simple to follow since she took upwards of 45 minutes explaining what each lab was about and such. Pretty easy to follow from my experience
The online lectures made it a bit difficult to learn, but she made it clear what we had to know and what we didn't have to know. Pretty simple labs too since she spends upwards of 20 minutes explaining what to do during the lab. Very clear with what's expected and keeps students updated with a lot of announcements.
Absolutely terrible professor. She is completely disorganized. She has lost multiple assignments for various students in the class. She is not clear at what her expectations are and then how she grades. And you get bombarded by announcements. Take any other pro professor for Chemistry besides her.
She's really kind and lets students retake multiple tests in class! She wants students to pass, but the second half of the semester was so difficult material wise. This class requires you to really self study because her online lectures aren't helpful. As for her tests, all the questions come from the practice tests she posts.
Very disorganized teacher. She submitted assignments late all the time. Didn't really teach on her lecture videos. I learned more on YouTube(Tyler Dewitt) than I did with her. She's nice and responded to emails quickly. Overall, I enjoyed the subject, but she didn't teach. She just sat there and graded homework/quizzes while we would do our labs.
doesn't teach...so ur on ur own :)
She's willing to explain if you have questions, other than that you've to study VERY x2 independently. Somewhat disorganized with instructions, but she will emphasize the topics to focus in tests. Materials insufficient. MUST pay extra for Pearson (>$100+) for textbook (free online) and practice Qs & lab manual (free online) which is unnecessary.
