She is a coo teacher..you have to read a lot but she never picks anything boring.u have quizzes on these readings but they r very simple and if u use commonsense u will be ok..there are also 3papers but they are not bad at all. overall i liked this class a lot..becoz she explains very well
Great teacher...Very friendly!
very cool teacher and easy too.
shes a pretty easy teacher if you know what your doing. she gives quizzes but they're pretty easy if you read the assignment. highly recommend because she is nice and offers help for you papers, but many people had trouble in the class
She seems to be easy, however do not let her fool you. You have quizes basically every time you meet and she's a hard grader with your papers. But then if you make the time to take your paper couple of weeks before its due she will tell you what you need for an A.
stay away. she seems easy but she is hard. grades hard. i barely passed with a C
Nishi is a very interesting teacher. She likes to see her students participate in class and discuss the readings. English is my second language and I managed to get an A. Just do your readings, papers and participate. Be responsible with all work and attendance!
i took her class online. Very good instructor! she has fun topic to talk about and really helpful. As long as you a sign of improvement. A is yours! Easy~
Really cares about teaching and students.
Really hard teacher! does not give second chances at all for minor mistakes or if you happen to be human and forget. Does not care about students at all. Stay away if you are human and make mistakes once in a while. 75% dropped the class before it was halfway through.
Shes a hard grader, very intresting topics, cool movies in class, not boring at all, but alot of work, you cant miss at all and no late work
Excellent teacher! highly recomended. answers any question and is laid back in teaching style. there aren't really any tests, just essays.
The hardest grading proffesor. Does not over look simple mistakes
u need to do the work and not miss class to even get a chance to do good in her class. however, shes a really good teacher and her topics and books r interesting.
I took online class in spring 2009. She grades strictly and she does not excuse the minor mistakes. Don't ever take her if you consider of your grade. Also, it is not community college level English. You will be mad at her attitude.
Nishi is an AWESOME professon!! She is extremely fair, grading is a little harsh.. But if you're not lazy, and actually do your work, you will be ok. I expected to barely pass by with a C, and I ended up being one of her top students. She also has an amazing sense of humor. TAKE HER CLASS, just don't be lazy with the school work!
Very friendly, cares about her students. If anyone cannot pass her class, it is because they are too lazy to do the work. Any negative feedback is a result of poor study habits. If you want to get on her good side, do what you are supposed to; your school work! Only the lazy students fail! I want to take her future classes!
Great teacher. I improved my writing skills with her. Easy to follow the work, and helps a lot.
I took her online course which for some may actually be harder because you need to be responsible for STAYING ON TRACK. However I found her to be a great, kind, understanding, and helpful teacher. She cares about her students and cares that they understand the material. She is willing to converse openly about topics. Great class!
Nishi is a very good professor! Be advised that she does grade very strictly. However, that is just so that her students can learn. If you are looking for an easy A, stay away. You will not get that here with Nishi. She is very helpful and offers help whenever you seek it. Good luck!
Awesome, helpful & very friendly.. I also had her for Eng 20.. You just gotta know what you're doing & do all the reading. She does grade strictly.
WOAH maybe this is because i took her online class, but she was terrible. i did not learn a thing!! she grades on grammar and not content. she is the worst teacher i have ever taken. makes my hate for english even worse
I Loved taking this course with Nishi.Grading was strict, but the one on one's/ teacher to student experience was grand. Nishi is an excellent professor if you WANT TO LEARN! Think twice If you just want to pass. I took her English 52 class last semester and now I will be taking her English 100 because, I have faith in her ability to teach.
She is a very hard grader. She does tend to grade more based on grammar and the structure of writing papers then on content. I took her online class, and it was definitely a lot harder than a regular class. The online class requires almost twice the amount of work. If you dedicate time to your work and edit it for mistakes you should do fine.
Great professor! ALOT of work the first 3 weeks ( for summer course eng 52) but it is worth t I learned ALOT and her grammar workshops are amazing keep up with the work everyone will do fine
Nishi is the best teacher I have ever had! Not only does she care for her students, but she makes them want to succeed. If you are human and want to have a good time while learning take this class.
I took her class online. She's not rational. I had a B+ in her class and forgot to mark a box at the bottom of the paper stating that you didn't plagiarize. Tiny little box. I submitted my assignment to turnitin.com on time! And bc I didn't check the box I got noo points!!! 100 pt essay! I explained the situation and she still didn't understand. It was at the end of the semester almost so I had to drop bc I now had a D..
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. I have taken online classes before and never have had the experience I had with her. She is a SUPER hard grader, grammar is important although she thinks otherwise. Felt that NOTHING made this lady happy. I would NEVER recommend this teacher EVER... Do not take her if you want to get a good grade.
I wish I had taken her earlier because even though she is extremely picky and does not let anything pass even in the works cited page, she made me a more meticulous and better writer. She helped me organized my ideas better. She is strict but friendly. Take her only if you want a challenge, and if you are a responsible student.
Do not take this class! She grades way too hard and assigns way to much work! She is the most diffcult, strict teacher Ive ever had! And she is not understanding if personal things come up. Find a different English teacher!
Do not take her summer class. She does not have office hours and does not help with any questions. She answers very vaguely and does not assist. Very picky teacher. I feel that I would have to have a bachelors in English to maybe pass this class. I am a hard worker, but it didn't matter. Skip this class!
I learned more in workshops than in this class. She gave us models to follow and expected us to know how to write the paper based on models. I passed all quizzes with perfect scores but got almost all fails on my papers. I passed, but only because of the quizzes. Seems as group work was done to avoid actually teaching 80% of the time.
once you understand her system she is a very easy professor to work with. her grading is difficult but once you figure out the format you are golden. would totally recommend her to everyone!
Nishi is awesome. I have taken over 50 units online and her format is the best online format out there. I loved the English 52 so much that I took her English 100 class as well. She is highly reccomended.
I loved her class! i took her 9 week class and it was the most challenging class i have ever taken. Thanks to class my english level grew much higher. you won't regret taking her class
I took her over the summer and it was TERRIBLE. she wouldnt answer questions over email, had no office hours, and wasnt completely clear on what was expected. She wrote a lot of detail on the assignments but none made sense, and when asking her to explain, she refused, and said its all there. I put in ALOT of work, and she didnt teach and too hard!
If you love group projects then this is your teacher. She is overall a good teacher but I think she tries to make the class too hard and a lot of people just entering college might get discouraged.
One of the smartest English teachers I have ever met. She is super down to earth and is willing to explain. Only down side is lots and lots of essays and reading. You have to work really hard for that good grade but she is an amazing teacher.
I have taken online classes but this one has to be the worst. When I did not understand something I would email the prof numerous emails but all I would get back is "How can you not understand it, it's right in front of you?" I have never had a teacher be so mean.
One of the toughest classes I've taken but this was mainly because it was not only an online class but also a summer 6 week online class, and i was also taking another summer class on campus. I was pretty happy with my grade in this class but I can personally say i worked my butt off for it. Don't go into this class thinking it will be easy.
Professor Nishi is an amazing teacher. I have to say that the class is not as hard as people make it seem. Her class does require a lot of time and effort. She emails back in a timely manner and gives great feedback on every assignment. I got an A in the class and got As on 4 essays and a B on 1. Just follow they format she gives for each essay.
I LOVED her class. She is an amazing professor who gives great feedback. Yes she assigns essays but that's pretty much all you do, it's a total of 4 essays (3-5 pages) and then the final is a research paper that is 6-8 pages. she helps you a lot and my best advice is you take her class day by day, it'll seem overwhelming at first but it's not!
Took her English 100 class my first semester, she's a tough grader on the essays, extremely critical on grammar and thorough analysis. Great personality but very strict, especially on due dates no exceptions. Must be on top of everything to pass the class no slacking 4 essays and one final big research paper Reading quizzes and some group work
Seriously tough grader. Makes you work for your grade, she's there for help if you go to her. assigns four papers and two books to read. what kills you is the prewriting activities, its busy work but it all adds up and yes it is pointless. doesn't really lecture "its all on talonet" mainly class discussions is what class consists of.
Basically, you have to complete all your readings, assignments and of course your essays. When I first started I thought I was going to pass with a C but I learned from my mistakes and tried not to do them again. Any time I had a questions she would respond. Also, she reviewed my rough drafts & provided feedback.
The best part about this course, all the assignments were up from day one.
I took her class nearly 2 years ago now and she is one of the only professors that still sticks out. She knows how to engage everyone and is passionate about her job which makes the class more enjoyable for everyone.
Ms Williams is one of the best English teachers on campus. She is very organized. You will know what assignments are due and when they are due since the 1st day of class. I wanted to take her again but her class time doesn't fit in my schedule. Lots of reading and homework but overall, she is great.
Grades papers extremely hard, requires at least 6 papers high word count. Difficult professor, difficult class :(
she is very clear hard grader responds in a timely matter she does not accept late work at all, not even if you have a doctor's note very strict get ready to read
Professor Shah-Williams is a great teacher! If you do the work, your grade will reflect YOUR effort. This is not a hard class if you pay attention to the lecture information she gives you. You're an adult now, so, work hard for what you want. If you do a subpar job, that will be your result.
Not a lot of reading! Not high school be prepared to work. Only lazy slackers have posted complaints follow the lecture directions and you can get the best grade.
best teacher ever!
Loads of homework but totally worth it. Amazing teacher!
Lots of homework, but if you plan ahead and do everything, you should be fine. She always responds to emails, so make use of it and seek help!
Ive had great luck when it comes to English professors. She has a clear grading criteria and she makes you work for your grade but youll pass as long as you follow what she tells you to do. Gives great feedback also has office hours and lets you make up quizzes in advanced. Great teacher 100% would recommend
Professor Nishi is not an easy A but you will learn. One of my favorite things about her class is that there are no surprises. She gives you all the information you need and tells you how to be successful in her class. It's up to you if you keep up with the work or not. I learned a lot and would take her class again.
Do your work, put in effort and you will pass. Work is not a large load. However, there is a lot of reading. Great professor overall!
From the beginning of the course, you have homework due weekly, two to three assignment's due same day. Professor is extremely helpful if you have any questions, however, she is a tough grader. While I missed small assignments, but turned in everything else, I did not get a passing grade. I am extremely disappointed. Do not recommend. Stressful.
This professor is very difficult to deal with in terms of her understanding for others lives. If you are taking her online cousre be prepared to have everything you do scrutinized. She actually refused to give me an extension regardless of a medical excuse; put that into perspective.
At first, I was a little unsure over the class, but I soon found that I had nothing to worry about. Shah is incredibly kind, and she is always ready to answer any questions about the assignments that you may have. She grades essays harshly, but it's for the best. You will definitely learn how to write better through her class. Highly recommend.
The professor is very open minded. Her lectures are very great. Her class was very interesting.
She is very strict and a tough grader.
Very picky with work and how it should be organized too many work , will tell you straight up you are not going to pass and discourage you for the future of taking any other English classes sucks ass because when someone is that low to do that it hits you like damn therefore dont take shes not a good professor shes against worst experience
Took this class online and it was very overwhelming. You have assignments due soon as you start the class and almost every other day. Excuses are not accepted at all. I had to drop the class two weeks in because she assigned too much work and I didn't have time to do my other classes work. Would only recommend if you like a challenge.
Professor Shah is amazing! She expects you to work for your grade but I learned so much from her and really appreciated her lessons! she has you dig deeper and really analyze what you read in her class! She's also happy to see her students during office hours and a Tip to any new student is always get her feedback on any paper that'll get you an A!
I am very Happy I took this class with Professor Nishi, she is very helpful and helps you become stronger in the class. The reviews that are bad, are only the students that did not want to work hard for there grade. There is a lot of work but each assignment helps you prepare for your essays. Definitely recommend if you want to learn!
This class seemed advanced for me. I'm not that great of a writer and you're required to write 4-5 essays that are as long as 7-9 pages. Ms. Shah is a very tough grader. Her lectures are clear and concise. My biggest problem was just the essays. You must be a creative thinker and come up with lots of detail for your work.
Terrible
Professor Shah was patient with me, and professional. She took control of her class and all of the students in her class, and she graded papers timely. The syllabus and her instructions to the class were clear. I like how the class started at a slow tempo and then slowly became for difficult, I was able to adjust to the difficulty of it easily.
Really bad professor. Wont help you in any case even if you are dying. Had a family emergency all I asked was for a two days extension for the essay but she straight up failed me in the class because I didn't turn in the essay on time. Seriously wouldn't recommend taking this class.
I was there did not miss a class 6 month class, lots of group projects, usually she lets you l know if you pass, she did not tell me I was not going to pass. Then failed me.
Great professor who gave great feedback when it came to essays. Professor Shah was so nice and helpful and definitely patient even when I asked small questions. Some of the work can get stressful, but it gets easier if you put hard work and dedication.
Professor Shah is a really good professor. She is really caring and caring. She makes surer that you know the material. I was having a hard time with English and she helped me throughout the semester. Given that I had taken her online (due to the pandemic) and the second half of the semester. it was challenging but i enjoyed taking her class.
Prof. Shah couldn't be any more clear on her syllabus. She stands by standards and accepts nothing less. Highly recommend planning ahead and utilizing her office hours. The tools to communicate with her are there so if utilized correctly, the class should be a jog in the park. That's right, a jog. Prof. Shah breaks down the work to keep you steady.
You would think someone who is college educated would appreciate the value of work and education. However, I think her emotional bias is the main reason this class was just a huge joke. If you do take her class it is very simple, however do not even question her method because you will make your life difficult for yourself.
Awesome professor and person, however she assigns way too much work per week. She doesn't allow time to complete one assignment before having to already start on the next one. Its unrealistic expectations when not all of us are just students. We have other classes and other assignments. It's just too much for a basic pre req class.
Professor Nishi is very respectful and kind but she assigns so much work. Be ready to work and read! To add on, she is a very tough grader and she is very particular about how she wants you do to do the work she assigns you.
I initially signed up for another class, but due to a lack of enrollment, and the pandemic, I was moved to English 100 online. Until then, I had never written a book report; terrified, I was ready to drop out of the class and maybe school. However, after speaking with Professor Shah, she encouraged me to trust her teaching method. Best decision.
She grades thoroughly, but not too much to where you'll fail if you're genuinely trying. She gives amazing feedback and is a great refresher on Engl 100 concepts. I'd recommend taking her if you want to improve your grammar and syntax
The class is way too introspective and rigorous for what it is. I am literally overqualified for this class - I enrolled on accident, but Prof. Shah grades with too much emotional bias so it is very difficult to receive a 4/4 on basic assignments. She also *only* grades using a 1-4 scale, so a single 3/4 is really damaging to the overall grade.
Professor Shah is an amazing professor! Her syllabus is very clear, and each assignment has a guideline, that if you follow, will help you succeed. This class is not an easy A, but it will help you improve like crazy if you put effort into it! Her feedback actually helps! Professor Shah helps her students improve, by far my favorite teacher! 10/10
Professor Shah is a very encouraging professor and she gives great feedback. Grading scale is out of 4 points, so missing just one or two points could really bring your grade down. Read instructions for assignments carefully and get ahead so you have more time for tougher assignments. She allows you to resubmit essays and turn in assignments late.
TOO MUCH WORK.
Took her online class, it was amazing, i bet she'd be just as good in person. The book for this course is also interesting so not that big of a worry. The writing assignments were also nothing to worry about, she'll prepare you for them, so you'll be fine. Great professor overall.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She has a STRONG emotional bias and assigns way too much work without giving time in-between to actually complete it before she gives out another one. She also is an extremely tough grader and grades with a 1-4pts system so even if you get a 3, it still negatively affects your grade. Honestly just choose any other professor.
Professor Shah is a good professor. People should take this professor. Professor Shah is a tough grader. However, she makes it clear what is needed to get a good grade in the class. She grades on a 1-4 scale and in each assignment she lists what students need to do exactly to get a 4. Moreover, along with her tough grading she gives great feedback.
