Acts as if you never heard of a computer before.
Has no patience with students at all gets annoyed very easily. When you hand in work shell lose it and say you never handed it in. Your grade will drop down to a D from missing one assignment. Speaks to you as if your an old person trying to learn or if your slow and mood swings are killer.
This professor is the worse professor an apsiring artist can have. She has no consideration for her students. Her grading policy does not make any sense. Projects are confusing, and she would not clarify the simplest of problems. I urge students not to take her class.
This has to be the most confusing class I've ever took. She doesn't know how to teach. Her assignments and grading policy are confusing, she's very difficult to understand & the class itself isn't fun in the slightest. She's a nitpicker too when it comes to assignments. Do it her way or she'll find the smallest problem to complain about. Avoid her
Useless professor!
Should not be teaching.
Was a little difficult to understand, at first, but turned out to be one of the best teachers ever. Her instructions can be unclear, but, don't hesitate to ASK QUETIONS! She's always willing to explain in detail. You also get portfolio-worthy material out of this class, as long as you put in the effort. Thanks Prof M. She truly wants to help.
Everything will be confusing at first. You must ask questions in order to understand her better, She lectures a lot but doesn't really teach you much about any adobe program. All projects are great for portfolio if you put in work. Over all not bad she just prepares you for the real world
Great Professor. I enjoyed her class and her advice. No matter your work, she'll find something great about it and will help you on improving it. Tests are a bit hard but you'll get them if you study. Her class is definitely good at showing you what the field of art work will be.
Learned A LOT in this class. The lectures are very long, but the information is absolutely necessary to understand the origins of design. Gives great insight on your projects, and is always willing to help right away. If you have questions; EMAIL HER! Instructions can be more clear; sometimes due dates will change unexpectedly.
She is very confusing. When you ask for help, she just repeats the same thing. When asked what she means, she repeats the same thing. I found I did better when I did what I thought was my best work and did not listen to her, then she loved it!
Well, sometimes she is confusing with her lectures, mostly because she talks a lot and sometimes she repeats some stuff. Overall, her lectures are pretty good, you can see that she's really trying to explain everything she knows and introduce you to new stuff you didn't know. If you really want to learn something in design, take her class.
nice lady, bad teacher. long, repetitive lectures, inconsistent teaching methods, vague criticism on projects that show no influence of elements or principles of design. Expect multiple assignments at once and regular class critiques. Again, nice lady but I'm not sure if she should be teaching. on a positive note she isn't that strict of a grader.
Professor Mehta was an excellent teacher, proficient and extremely knowledgeable. She works you hard, because her focus is to prepare you for the real world. If you want to learn Illustrator, them she is the perfect professor to choose. I am truly grateful to have had her, because I learned an enormous amount.
worst professor I've ever had . i reccomend to drop her class and change professors. She never gives 100s only 90s . smh
Professor Metha is a very good professor. She is a tough grader and is very strong about her grading. She helps you out in any way she can. You learn a lot from the class, I would recommend taking the class.
Professor Mehta was one of the nicest art professors I've had. I have learned so much in this class and she wants you to do well so she helps you with your work. The class was a little tough but the class was well worth taking. Would definitely have this professor again!
She is a great teacher. She is very tough and definitely makes you work for it but shed is fair n lenient. Also she is a little iffy when explaining things for the first time but she will constantly explain until every one gets it. She grades very well. She gives Great example of projects and she gives real life advice in the world of graphics D.
Class act.
She will load you down with one project then go ahead and explain the next one so it is easy to get confused. Write down everything that she says so that eventually it makes sense and you can go ahead. Try not to space out or else you will end up way behind, and don't bother trying to ask her questions or emailing her.
Pretty hard not going to lie, but she is definitely a good professor
She is a teacher who is strict for a reason. She gives you the work and explains it. Do your work when you have to. Don't slack in this class. She may be very strict but once you get passed the strictness, shes a very down to earth teacher
The work is hard only if your lazy and put no effort into it. She's definitely a great professor, makes the work fun! :)
If all the work is done the professor is pretty cool
Although this professor was strict and loaded us with work in/out class, she did show everyone what to do step by step and repeated herself until all the students got the idea of what to do. Only advice is to never procrastinate and work with peers. With those 2 tips you'd be fine.
Really needs to provide more clear requirements for her projects. Like keep record of them in her notebook. She changes the requirements constantly. Gives good and insightful advice on how to make your projects better and about the graphic design field in general.
I started school at a late age, and I was fortunate to have Professor Mehta, twice. She is strict and only wants her students to succeed. She helps you to see a clearer picture of how your design should develop. After completing each class I walked out with an amazing portfolio. She is incredible and I truly admire her. Thank you Professor!
Professor Mehta dumps countless projects on her students. I don't mind working hard, but she gives her classes huge projects and isn't that great at wording her explanations. She'll often repeat the same detail multiple times, which only confuses students. She rants for two hours, hardly gives time to work in class, only making the workload worse.
This was my second time taking her for a class. The first time was hard but once you know what to expect from her you can tolerate it much more but it still will be very difficult so please do your best
She terrible thats it .
Incredibly confusing assignments that have constantly changing requirements. She's horrible at explaining things. Likes to publicly ridicule students in non-constructive ways. Extremely workload heavy, expect 2-3 projects every week. Grading criteria makes no sense, will tell you something is perfect and then give you a 90 without telling you why.
Very nice professor but assigns a lot of work but if you keep track of your work and dont miss class you will be on track all semester
Shes doesnt really communicate well. Her explanations of her projects are confusing and if you try to ask questions she usually ends up talking over you and not giving you the answer you need
She's a very sweet professor, easy to understand and wants the best for her students. I've had her for two semesters straight and never had a problem other than late email answers. Overall, I enjoy having her as a professor.
Shes difficult to understand sometimes, her lectures are her repeating the same sentence 5 times, she doesnt know how to explain things properly so prepare to be extremely confused on what your supposed to do with projects, it helps to ask for examples
Great professor. Through out the semester we did 13 projects and 1 group project. The professor expects you to know the basics of Illustrator since first day of class. Beware of pop quizzes. Take her if you can.
Professor Mehta is extremely well-educated in her field of study. You will definitely learn a lot in her classes. She is a very nice woman, but she does make you work hard. At first, she could be very intimidating. As long as you do your work, submit assignments on time, and put in your best effort, she will appreciate you as a student.
Poor communication-has a habit of confusing herself during lectors, needing to stop the class so she can look something up only to still not know what she was suppose to be doing. Repeats things differently like 5 times that just adds to the confusion and refuses to answer questions in any helpful way. Rarely if ever answers her emails.
Had her last semester and forgot to comment-shes an ok person but a horrible teacher, had a habit of repeating things till the whole class was confused, rarely replied to emails and when she did they werent helpful, and overall I didnt actually learn in that class-I was too busy trying to understand what on earth she meant.
The pop quizes are not granmatical at all, so therefore they are confusing as to what is being asked. the Quizes are frequent and the teacher does not post grades on the site at all
Had her for my one and only semester at NCC and im not sure why people are commenting about her awful ratings. Yes its a stressful class but if you put ur weight in and do the work, you will come out fine. She may be hard to understand but she always gives chances for you to ask ur questions.
professor is great , makes learning new programs simple. assignment are a breeze
I liked the professor, but I Was not a fan of how the pop quiz's are based on certain mac gestures for the programs we used.
Great teacher, yea she gives a decent amount of project but she always gives enough time to do them and always puts many examples up. Not super strict and overall a cool teacher. I would definitely take her class again
Professor Mehta is a good teacher. She teaches pretty much every single class and then gives the class an assignment pertaining to what was taught. It is good to take good notes so you don't forget commands on the computer. She also gives pop quizzes on the computer commands every now. Overall is a good teacher if you listen and pay attention.
One thing I appreciate about Professor Mehta is that she goes in depth with each lesson and tools in Photoshop. Trust me you will know photoshop very well by the end of the semester. However, she does overlap assignments(2-3 mini projects). I took three art classes and it was very time consuming. Just learn how to time manage and you'll be fine.
SKIP CLASS? YOU WONT PASS. Does not have clarity. I learned the word preponed existed. Why.
I am sad to have endured this...
She says to ask questions but gives an attitude when you actually ask questions
She is an amazing professor, all of her projects are fun to do and they are not that hard if you pay attention and watch the tutorials.
The professor was very good. She explains assignments step by step in detail and gave us a chance to redo mistakes in our assignments. The professor uploads work from other students on blackboard which helped me a lot because I was able to understand what was required in the assignments and what they have to look like.
Great Professor! She can be a little hard to understand sometimes, but she always stops to make sure that we were understanding and following. She gives alot assignments, but she is very understanding and allows you to hand in late. Your grade will suffer a bit but this Is college so be grateful that she even allows late work. Most teachers don't.
Is terrible. Strict, unclear on directions, and doesnt answer emails.
Im currently in this class online and the professor is very rude and demeaning toward us all. She is very unclear about the assignments & posts multiple at once. She ends class early & then doesnt reply to emails. She is very cold and strict. I wish I could drop this class but I need it to graduate in May. Wish I could give a 0 rating.
Strict and obnoxious. Doesnt explain assignments well. Makes the class not enjoyable.
Wish I could drop out of this class
Not a good professor
Dropping out of this class bc of how awful she is
Doesnt answer emails, directions are unclear, obnoxious, makes me hate my major
Requires real woks
There is a lot of projects but as long as you stay on top of your work you should be just fine. Posts recordings so you can go back and watch them as many times as you need which is very helpful. Difficult if you tend to struggle with Adobe programs, but plenty of opportunity to work with it and get comfortable. Lets you revise and resubmit work.
ART 130 is a fun class as long as you can keep up with the work. The lectures are long, but give enough time to get the work done. Also, the assignment must be completed before class because it is mandatory to present your work to the class. Professor Mehta does give good feedback to help improve your work. She is not a harsh grader.
This class wasn't hard, but it's been difficult with the whole zoom online class . I'm someone that loves doing graphic design, I guess taking graphic design in a class just wasn't for me. The professor tried her best but I don't think we were compatible together as teacher and student.
She is a very nive professor and does what she can in order to have everyone pass the class with the best grade possible, the only thing is that she isn't the best at explaining things very clearly. But she does make a huge effort to provide instructions and and examples as to what she wants to be submitted. Over all shes a good professor.
This class helps me to be creative with my art.
She's a good professor. Explains how the software works perfectly. Don't be afraid to ask questions, she will be happy to answer or go back to explain something you don't understand. She doesn't mind helping or giving critiques to make your assignments better. But prepare for the workload and plan according. Don't wait last minute to do the work.
I wouldn't take her again, she's very strict & gives overloads on projects. You can't ask any questions without her making you feel stupid for asking. She gives good feedback on your work to make you better, ill give her that. But she's very condisending & isn't helpful during class. I deff would of dropped her if I didnt need It for my major.
Dont usually come here to give reviews but felt god itself needed me to do this so here I am. If you have the chance dont take this specific class with this professor. She isnt well equipped to teach a class of this importance due to her lack of understanding of IXD principles. So if given the chance to avoid her, for your sanity, please do.
She's a great teacher as long as you pay attention and do your work. Obviously like any teacher she would give bad grades if work isn't completed. She's also lenient for like the first half which helped many in the class as she stated in the beginning that the deadlines were strict. She would love to go over things we learned in class. Gr8 teacher
Professor Mehta is good but it is sort of difficult to understand her sometimes. She does give a bunch of homework. She is very stern when it comes to attendance. So, if one skips or is absent more than once then you won't pass the class. She does give extra credit assignments.
The class can be difficult, if you don't pay enough attention. Lots of learning involved.
if you want to an advanced graphic design class I would say take her typography class because it would help improve your design skills, its going to be difficult but it will help
I have no complains it was a bit hard to keep up with everything. But I liked our class.
Very responsible, she always shows examples so we would have a better idea as to what we are supposed to do for our assignments. She does her best to make sure we understand everything, and I appreciate that immensely.
I'll say it was a very good learning experience. she went into great depth on teaching everything with type. Definitely a lot of work but well worth the stress only because I really ended up learning a lot about type. I had her once a week so the work overload was a lot, but she was very nice and leant about submissions & resubmissions.
Professor M. does teach you a lot but do expect a lot of homework weekly. Some of the instructions can be a little confusing for the assignments she gives, but thankfully she always posts examples on blackboard to help you out when you need a visual.
She's a good teacher as long as you do the work. She can be strict at times, but it's only to help you get ready for the real world in design. If you are willing to do the work and further your knowledge in design I would take her class.
She is a great but tough teacher. Take her classes if you want to learn ALOT and put in ALOT of work. I created a full portfolio in this class & learned ALOT. Expect ongoing projects and make sure to take lots of notes when she explains the projects! Very strict but I became a better! If you're looking for an easy class DO NOT take this class!
Her assignments are amazing for your portfolio but it does require a lot of time. Be prepared to work hours on end to get an assignment done with barely any free time just to start another. She gives you great feedback on what to enhance about your work and time to revise with extra credit for any extra work you do aside from the requirements.
Professor Mehta is a very passionate, dedicated and extremely knowledgable about the subject being taught in class. Yes, she is a very strict professor, in my view, her main goal is to prepare the student to be successful in the job market. I didn't do well in class as I expected, but I am still happy with all the knowledge received in her class.
She's okay. She gives a lot of work and sometimes overlap them. You may not understand her, though it isn't entirely her fault, I was able to mostly understand her. She is strict on due dates and instructions. Some of the work is fun, while some are tough. She tries to encourage us to work hard and she has good intentions, it's just a lot of work.
Coming in I did not know much on Indesign. This class changed that. There were a ton of assignments that I felt I would have came out better if I had more time to work in the actual class instead of outside of class
Gives lots of homeworks although the formatting of each work has yet to leave a desirable impression as it could potentially overpower other works you may have. Provides moderate visualization of exemplary work, though you may have to approach her if you have some doubts regarding your design to make sure that you're on the right track.
One thing I would say If taking GD2 is that the earlier you learn that art and design are connected yet separate the much much easier of a time you will have on assignments. As someone who is more of a traditional artist, learning that less is more is what elevated my designing, and learning that "the best design is the least design" is important
It's a lot of work but it will make your portfolio strong. She is a bit harsh for this class as she wants everyone to get a sense of "how it is in a workspace" so be prepared to take notes as she doesn't posting every detail for assignments and can be unclear. It's a lot of Indesign work and near the middle you will have overlapping work.
She gives a lot of work and can be tricky to understand at times. The work can be stressful, but if you try to put in effort and a lot of time, you'll survive. Prepare for work to overlap. She does give small lecture indesign and art history lectures, which are helpful and helps you appreciate art more. there's lots of work, but with good intention
Stacks projects one on top of another, very frequently. Her critics were confusing, I was often confused on if minimal is good or bad. She is heavy on the typography and text.
Illustrator might be my preferred design program now because of this class. You WILL improve if you put in the time and the effort. Take good notes and be prepared for an overlap of work towards the end of this course. With that said, most projects assigned were creative and will likely appeal to your own interests and add a lot to your portfolio.
There is a lot of work in this class but If you love making art and learning how to design it will be really fun. Be prepared to have a ton of homework and overlapping projects. Professor Mehta really loves to inspire creativity and pushes students to work hard and have creative freedom on the assignments. I loved this class.
She is very nice teacher. Get ready to get a lot of assignments. she gives grades very easy.
She gives good feedback and the projects are really worth the time. I have learned alot of techniques and shortcuts in the class. I would surely use the assignments done in class in my future portfolio. The only Downside of the class would be the amount of work and effort, so if you are good in time management you will be fine
I would say that she is quite tough and assigns a lot of work, which can be overwhelming at times. Unfortunately, her lectures are not always clear, and it can be difficult to understand the assignments. Overall, she is a challenging professor, but with hard work and dedication, it is possible to succeed in her class.
I Think she needs to get more organized with her assignments and due dates. She can be overwhelming with overlapping homework.I didn't like that she would say ask any questions if you are confused but if you repeated what she said to really understand she would continued with a "don't repeat what I already said"
She is very professional and very respectful professor, I would consider taking her class again, the only advise I would say is that time management is a key element when doing her assignment so you don't get caught behind or getting burned out by the fact that her assignment are overlapped. Other than that, she is very understanding with everyone.
my whole semester was horrible but Prof. Mehta's class made it wayyyy better
great professor would likely take again
Prof. Mehta is very skilled, does what is best for her students but her directions are sometimes very hard to follow.
Be prepare and come in with a strong head/mindset because a lot of work will be coming your way. Make sure to ask questions when not you don't understand. Be professional, respectful, active.
She will help you the best way she can and point you in the right direction for your future. She does critiques that will fix your work for your portfolio. I
Long prepared lectures with accompanying slides as well, but pay attention and always check the work. Professor will answer questions but the student is also responsible for checking the class page. Very critical of your work so be prepared to make a lot of changes.
Strict criteria to meet and very work intensive, but clearly displays interest in helping students achieve their full potential and is very open to constant work critique and scheduling face-to-face meetings.
Professor Mehta will not only aid you in developing as an artist, but as a person. She will challenge you to acknowledge what aspects of yourself need attention in order to overcome your limits. Grading & critiques may seem difficult but if you are capable of applying her feedback to your work, you will be better off in the long run.
Professor Mehta is determined to provide students with everything they need to succeed. She gives A LOT of work but it has been 100% beneficial. I'm thankful for the projects I have completed as her student. The work load can be stressful and intimidating but was worth it. She will push you to embrace the work & deadlines to let creativity flow.
DON'T TAKE HER even if you think she's good, especially if you are not good at understanding because she is THE WORSE PROFESSOR EVER who frequently ignores me unfairly when misunderstanding! NOT HELPFUL PROFESSOR AT ALL!!! But If she is your only choice, just be careful and ask one of your classmates and make a group chat. COMPLAINT FILED!
WORST PROFESSOR!!! Don't Trust their reviews are good! She's isn't honest and organized at all! YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER TAKE HER!!!
Tough professor
Please don't take this professor, you have been told. She did not have clear instructions, and very hard to understand her directions. You won't be able to repeat what she said to get clarity. very unorganized, talks a lot, and time is not being used wisely. I have never felt this way, and it's not a good feeling.
Professor Mehta's teaching style lacks organization and respect for her students, making the learning experience unnecessarily challenging. She is resistant to feedback and often exhibits a demeaning attitude towards the class, creating an unwelcoming and discouraging environment.
WORST PROFESSOR and isn't organized!! Made Students Misunderstanding!!! Frequently Ignores Students in person and e-mail!!! CAUSES FRUSTRATION SCENE!!!
WORST PROFESSOR!!! Isn't Organized causes to miss any assignment. DO NOT EVER TAKE HER!!!
WORST DESIGN PROFESSOR!!! Isn't organized and causes FRUSTRATION! DO NOT TAKE HER EVEN IF YOU NEVER TAKE HER BEFORE!!!
Professor Mehta is an excellent instructor. They always emailed us all the assignments clearly and on time, so we knew exactly what we needed to do. All the course materials and PDFs were well-organized and explained everything in detail. They also responded to emails very quickly, which was extremely helpful.
...........................
There is a lot of work you'll be doing. Expect to be outside, to hand your work in on time, and not missing more than 3 days. Isn't very encouraging and is lecture heavy; doesn't take criticism well. But if you participate and express your struggles, you can make it in class with time. Expect to be highly committed to this class.
