One of the better prof. at Oakton. Knows his subject well, is funny, and clears up the confusion. Gives outside of class study sessions which are really helpful. I get a vibe that he genuinely cares about us.
REVIEWS EVERYTHING 3-5 days before exams. Critical thinking are made for YOU to think. Tests are nursing style. 80 point paper extra credit. very nice guy! HEHEY!
Prof H. treats us and refers to us as a TEAM. Enough said.
He is literally so hard. He goes into sooo much detail that half the stuff, you can even retain in your head. I would never choose to be in his class again. If majority of the students are getting Cs, Ds, or Fs, even those who are working their butts off, wouldn't you think there's someting wrong with the professor? Do NOT take it with him.
I reiterate what the person below has said. He teaches the class as If you are in graduate schoolor medical school. Everything is detailed requires so much time, like literally around the clock studying. Like you should quit your job and have no other life but to study his material. He is particular in grading and takes points off for little thing
Amazing professor! You must WANT to learn, this class teaches you so much and definitely prepares you for nursing school. There are 5 quizzes, 10 critical thinking assignments (pretty hard), and like 6 tests and 2 practical exams. there is no cumulative final though! Oh and also an 80 points extra credit paper! study study and you will get an A! :)
Prof Nizar is a great teacher. Every time I would enter his class room I felt like I was stepping in a Harvard campus. Amazing lectures. To top it off, he really cares. He spent 2 hrs in his office helping me with pharmacy apps.
Professor Nizar is as much a philosopher as he is a teacher. Made me reexamine some views I had. Always there for you to help. Never had a prof who helped me learn as much. Yes I got a high C but I can guarantee you I have learned more in his class than have students who have taken the class with other professors and got a B or even A. Recommend.
I took AP 2 with him and it was hard, but then again it's AP . Any AP class you decide to take will be difficult. This class like many other science class requires a lot of studying. My suggestion is to record his lectures because it truly helps on his tests. Good luck and happy studying.
I am taking APII with Dr. Handzik right now and I love his lectures. The PP are really organized and he makes learning fun. Uses examples which really helps you remember difficult concepts. I actually look forward to coming to class. The fact that the prof is very easy on the eyes doesn't hurt :)
This class was overall ok. He talks really fast. The lecture exams have multiple choice and critical thinking, but make sure you read the book and follow his power points or else you will fail his lecture tests. As for the practical make sure you know every single detail of the structure you are learning. good luck!
I m sooo glad I took dr. H class. Learned a lot. He is a fun guy knows the stuff and treats everyone fair. Always there to answer questions and help you. Reviews before tests. Each test is only on two chapters. Plus extra credit. Would take another class with him
he is a really good professor , but TEST ARE VERY HARD and grade hard as well you really need to put in lot of study time for his class. there is no homework or quizzes only 3 min group assignments that are only 10pts each and some ex credit which makes his class hard because you do not have any other assignments to help out with your grade.
Dr. Handzic is hands down 1 of the BEST professors I have ever had! He is extremely passionate for Anatomy & Physiology and most definitely brilliant. I will admit, his class was hard for me, you definitely need to put in the effort to pass, but he puts in 150% effort helping you out that it is worth it. Wish I could take him again, he's amazing!
prof. H is intelligent, funny (talks about kardashians a lot), and very very good looking. always there to help you. i asked him tons of questions in and out of the classroom. he never lost patience with me and answered all my questions in a way that actually make sense. Very very knowledgeable guy .has two doctorate degrees
Amazing professor. I am always in awe how much he knows about AP. Never reads from PP or notes. Explains difficult concepts using great analogies and real world examples. Really cares and respects students. Always there for you to answer questions or clarify material. Looking forward to taking Pathophysiology with him.
A really good professor! Very helpful! If you study you will get an A! He will spend every second he gets on class content. Explains hard concepts and makes it much easier to understand. His test are pretty much good, not easy-not hard! He allows to record lectures but speaks very fast. Give lots of points for extra credit! I did not study !
by far the best professor i have ever head. smart, compassionate, fair, easy to talk to. learned a lot in his class.
Dr.H is one of the best if ur taking anatomy. Very professional, always on time, ask every student if they need help and always ready to answer questions. Exams are hard but if u study u will not fail. he gives hw and extra credit (optional), oh and be ready to do presentations in his class as part of of his teaching to be social. Take his class!!!
This is a basic A&P class but it is very hard, lecture are very detail and he's speaks fast and some times hard to understand I RECOMMEND recording every lecture so you can go back replay it to make sure you got everything in your notes . There are 4 test , 4 quiz, 3 small group assignments and extra credit , test are hard because they cover 4 ch.
Handzic's course is unrealistic for most students. He makes every single point earned difficult. There is no room for error. He does not understand attention span, and often lectures over class time. I think he is trying to make a name for himself at the expense of his students, maybe off to a better school, hoping for Ivy League?
If you are going into the medical field and want to learn a lot, this is the right professor to take. I was very happy with the quality of Dr Handzic's class. He is always organized, makes his expectations clear and is extremely knowledgeable about A&P.
Dr. H is one of the best prof at Oakton. He is organized and specific on what you need to do to get a good grade in his class. Highly recommend
If your taking other classes and your working part time, this class is not meant for you. He expects you to know everything, has a thick accent, and goes really fast on all the lectures. There are also stupid short presentations, heavy tests and a very stressful class ambience. Personally, I didn't like him. A&P is tough, but he make it way harder.
Dr. Nizar is very knowledgeable guy. He should be teaching at Harvard or Princeton. He is always there to help you. He organized review sessions outside of class to help us on exam. Lot of extra credit. He is from Europe so he has a slight accent but his pronunciation is excellent. If you going into nursing def take him. Looks hot too :)
Professor Handzic is amazing. if you want a strong background for medical or physical therapy school Prof. Handzic is a must. Explains difficult concepts clearly, returns tests within a day, answers emails fast, always there to help us. As others have noted hot but that should be the least of a reason to take his class. Five stars :)
Dr. Handzic is one of the best professors I've ever had! If you can swallow the fact that physiology is content-heavy and you will have to WORK, then this is the class to take!Lectures are incredibly organized, and he makes his own tests and quizzes directly from them. HE GIVES YOU EVERYTHING NEEDED TO SUCCEED, YOU ONLY HAVE TO PUT IN THE THE TIME!
Incredible professor! Physiology is a content-heavy course, & you must study on a daily basis. However, Dr. Handzic makes it possible for you to succeed. Lectures & labs are organized & informative. Exams are based on his lectures (no book required). He provides hints & charts for exam questions ;) Also, I highly recommend you record his lectures!
Great teacher, really knows the subject. Talks very quickly though so I'd suggest recording the lectures, everything he covers during the lectures will be on the test theres no surprises. Many opportunities for extra credit. Great foundation for BIO 231 and 232, still very difficult you'll need at least 1 hour of studying per week if not more.
He's extremely clear on what you need to do to keep on track. He's also the most professional I've worked with. Ends the class on time and everything he grades is extremely fair. He's also the first teacher who actually sparked my curiosity and made each class a learning experience rather than a drag. Close to a B but I messed up on an exam.
study his note and you will be good. awesome professor.
Heres a real review... He has a thick accent which makes it hard to understand and he talks fast and tries to get through everything. There isn't a lot of stop and think or like hey do you guys understand this. But he is very smart and a walking textbook so you don't have to buy one. Print out his powerpoints and add information a long the way.
This teacher will make or break you. He expects a level of intelligence to be on par with his course. If you do not study for at minimum 2 hours a day consider your grade a B- or worse. He will push you, and through this, he will shape you into a solid student. I graduated from loyola and am in med school now and I still think he is the best.
Dr. H is obviously smart and knowledgeable, but he doesn't do a good job of teaching the lecture material. He expects everyone to have minds like steel traps. Have a thick accent and speek too fast. I don't recommend his class.
I am taking Patho class with Prof. H. now. He is extremely well organized in his lectures and is easy to ask questions. Very approachable. He is also very accommodating to students and flexible when it comes to assignment deadlines. Prof. H also took us to Medical Examiner's Office to observe autopsies performed by pathologists. Amazing Experience
He an amazing professor. If you want to learn and understand anatomy, you need to take him. Listen to his lecture and taken notes, you should be fine. You do not need to buy the textbook. He is not the easiest but he makes anatomy easy. You will definitely learn a lot. I highly recommend taking him if you are going into the medical field
Dr. H is a very dedicated and kind professor. Multiple times throughout the semester he would offer study sessions outside of class to help us before the exam. He also gives out study guides. He explains concepts well. If you attend the class regularly and use the study guides you will do well in class. Ton of extra credit. Learned a lot
I took the patho class. It was pretty difficult but tbh, if you space out your studying and don't wait till the day or two before the exams (like me), then you can probably get in A. Lots of studying required, but doable.
As much a philosopher as he is a teacher, great at both. At the beginning of the course, put a picture of celebrity next to scientist to demonstrate how society takes science for granted. Provides clinical examples throughout the lecture. Tons of extra. credit. If you dont do well simply means you didnt try. Took three classes with him. Great prof
Pathophysiology class. I would recommend him but not an easy A. Don't take him if you are not serious about a healthcare profession. Offers a lot of extra credit but you have to work for it. Tests are 100% lecture based, highly recommend recording them. I NEVER USED THE TEXTBOOK. Only con is he uploads lecture over spring break, pretty annoying.
Dr. Handzic is a walking textbook. He knows anything and everything. He is incredibly respectful as well as hilarious. He can be quite intimidating at times but that's just because he is incredibly passionate about Anatomy and Physiology. He goes out of his way to recognize those students who work hard and rewards them with many opportunities.
One of the best professors I ever had. Explains everything that is to be explained gives a lot of extra credit for a better grade funny caring. Wants the best for every student that takes his class. The crap about his accent is totally not true you can understand perfectly of you are interested in the lecture I would take him 100 times more
From 30 people that started the class more than half dropped the class what does that says for him DO NOT TAKE HIM this guy probably has the record for people that dropped the class every semester Brags about his 2 PhD s like he is the only one that has them and very very thg ough greader
I m surprised by negative ratings for this prof. he explains stuff really well, returns exams on time, answers emails, gives tons of extra credit. AP is not an easy class but he simplifies everything. There is a lot of extra credit so if you don't do well on exams you can bring your grade up. You must really be lazy to fail his class.
I have no clue who is writing these positive reviews but even with all of the extra credit that he gives this class is impossible to pass. His tests are extremely difficult and rather than test on the material that he lectures on (which are literally hundreds of slides/unit), he usually spends 4 hours lecturing. 1/2 the class dropped, 1/4 failed.
AP is a hard class no matter what professor you take. Dr. H explains stuff well. He posts sample questions from the exam on D2L. He also cares about his students. Whenever I came to his office he would go over the questions I would have. He also invited us to observe an autopsy at a Medical Examiner's office which I thought was really cool. I
Dr. H is a great professor. His class is lecture heavy, so if you miss one day then it will hurt you. However, he is the type of professor to sit down with you and go over whatever you need. He actually cares and wants you to understand what is being taught. I would take this class again. He does have an accent, but it doesn't affect anything.
Half of his lectures arent even on the test. This was clearly like taking an online class and him reading of slides when going to class. No study guide or guidance of what will be on the test. The quizzes given, none of those questions were on the test. Set up for failure. Expects you to know everything since he has his PHD .
Very interesting prof who is knowledgeable. He grades holistically, so sit in the front, laugh at his jokes, take notes (or act like you are), ask a few questions and youll do well. He is very clear about what he expects from students, do all that he says.
awesome
Take good notes, record his lectures, and do his study guides. Everything in the lecture will be in the tests. He repeats every term and its definition at least 3 times. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities that will raise your grade, and they are really easy. He is an amazing professor, and is easy to talk with outside of class!
I am currently attending PA program at UIC. Dr. H is hands down the best professor I have had. Has def prepared me well for graduate school. I still use his notes in PA school. He is very detailed and organized. My current profs are amazed how much of the subject matter I already know. Thank you Dr. H
I honestly don't know why these people are giving him a good rate. But trust me when i say this, DON'T TAKE HIM! When i emailed him for help, he told me to drop out. Horrible teacher for this class, SAVE YOURSELF!!!!!
Dr. H is a very caring and knowledgeable prof. He answers emails fast and was very accomodating to class requests to extend the deadlines. Lectures are very organized. Attend his online study sessions and you will do well.
I took Dr. H a couple of years ago-Into to A&P. Honestly this class truly motivated me to continue my pursuit of a career in healthcare. He lets you record lectures, he answers all questions, power points are well detailed, and offers study sessions!! Wish I could have taken him for BIO231 and 232 but I work nights! Take him!!
Pathophysiology seems like a frightening class, but Dr. Handzic made it interesting and fun! He's always willing to make himself available for questions and will do his best to help you "get it". He made pathophysiology far less worrisome and easy to succeed at. I highly recommend his course for anyone interested.
This class was so horrible started with 22 students class ended up with 7 students His exams were very hard lectures didn't help much and I watched them more than once and took notes Find a better professor bc this guy told 5 of us to drop out. class average for exams were 61%-67% he did NOT curve anything when half of us failed his exams just NO!
I don't know who is writing these negative reviews. You really have to be lazy not to do well in his class. He provides tons of resources from study guides to practice practicals. There is also a lot of extra credit available. Dr. H also hold weekly study sessions. Definitely recommend to anyone in health fields. Extra start for looking great :)
He thinks hes teaching a doctorate class. Extremely disrespectful. Laughs at you if you ask questions. He will tell you if you dont do well you shouldnt even be in the healthcare field. His lecture is focused on trying to do med school in a semester and I learned practically nothing about anatomy. Hell insult you and will not answer questions.
Dr. Handzic is a very knowledgeable and organized professor and He knows his subject very well. He always accommodates me when I have questions regarding the subject matter and explains it clearly. Indeed I have learned so much in this class and I will use that knowledge and experience to my chosen profession. I definitely recommend him.
As a professor, he is super supportive and easy to get a hold of. You DEFINITELY have to put work in. Exams are all based on lectures. I recommend typing notes (I usually write them by hand) but it would be impossible to get an A if you did that. I wrote word for word every word that came out of his mouth and studied that script. You got this!
STAY AWAY, save your time, efforts, and money. Find another professor.
Great prof! Always there to answer any questions that I have. Returns emails promptly and grades exams within a day or two. Very flexible with exam deadlines. He actually asked the class to vote if we should move the exam date because the unit covered a lot of material. Great guy. you can tell he cares about us being successful.
WOW, that was a rigorous class! Class started out with 14 students, six dropped and only five students will receive a passing grade. His lecture videos are easy to understand, but the problem is there are a TON of lecture videos and so much different information you have to memorize/understand in a short period of time. Still a great professor!
There are those professors who care about student success, who return student emails, who know how to explain topics using simple examples, who grade exams within a day or two, who create fun extra credit opportunities, and who hold weekend online study sessions prior to exams. Such professors are rare. Dr. H is one such professor.
Dr. Handzic by far is the most awesome professor that I have taken. He is knowledgable and inspirational. His lecture videos are the treasures. Having him as A&P instructor, everything just started to make sense. He grades exam within 1-2 days, let us learn from our mistakes. He has review session before exams. What more could I have ask?
The exams are difficult and the lecture videos are also heavy.
Dr.H is a very knowledgeable professor when it comes to teaching but be ready to READ and take DETAILED notes as much as you can because he's a tough grader. He would take points off if you miss one word. His lecture videos help a lot but lecture exams are extremely difficult so be prepared at the beginning of the semester.
Extremely knowledgeable, flexible with deadlines, grades exams within a day, returns the emails within hours, funny, inspirational, and caring. He really makes his students a priority. If you are going into a medical field this professor is a must. ***** and an extra star for looking great but that's the least of a reason you should take him :)
This professor is super supportive and super organized...his D2L course shell is super easy to navigate with a lot of student resources. Sent us antonymous survey asking us how he can improve the course. When you talk to him you get the feeling that he really cares about student success. Wish more professors at Oakton were like him
Dr. H is a great professor & knows his material well. He is very helpful and takes the time to listen and answer all questions. He is respectful and easy to talk to. Gives a lot of extra credit and opportunities for students to succeed. He gives 4 assignments and all are in a group, which was the one negative I had to say. Overall, great professor!
Prof. H is very organized. His D2L shell is a real gem. Even though the class is in person he also records lecture videos so if you miss anything in class you can go back and get the notes by watching videos. He also organizes weekend study sessions. So far I am loving this class.
Read This! Bio 232 is hard, he does not make it any easier. He set up extra credit for the class but makes that equally as hard as the class to pass. he stated to ask questions but looks at you as if your stupid if you don't understand something. Asking for any kind of help he will just state your grade is your grade. this 5 stars are not real.
There is a lot of content the tests cover and it's hard to learn all of it in the time given. He goes into a lot of detail, so it's hard to remember everything. It's also hard to manage if taking other classes. The labs are okay but feel a bit pointless. Overall good guy but not a great teacher.
BIO 232 is a hard class so you cant expect to (and you shouldnt even want to) get an easy A. The class is hard but all of the bad reviews should not be about the teacher, at some point it also reflects the students. He always offers great feedback, so many resources, and he is really smart. You have to work for your grade but you will learn a lot
Handzic is a nice professor..but this course is a lot. Every question feels like it's critical thinking. There is also no review of the step questions on exams. I wish he would consider students insight on how the exam should be laid out. At least give us a study guide on how to answer step questions, and select all that apply questions.
Professor Handzic lectures are thorough. He gives all the details for you to understand the subject in depth. If you miss a class or need to review the lecture material, watch his pre-recorded lectures which are pretty much identical to his in class lectures. He is very respectful and genuine person/professor. Toughest class I have ever taken.
Professor Handzic made this A&P course extremely enjoyable through some of the best lecture videos, a fair grading system, and plenty of opportunities (including extra credit) to get the grade you want. I'm giving the MCAT this summer and I feel like this class gave me the knowledge base and confidence I needed to head into MCAT prep.
if you are a type A student you will do well, if not take someone else. Does he know his stuff? yes. does he go over everything in extreme detail yes. unless you have the 2 or 3 hr to go over it all everyday. take someone else or his online class. some questions on exam are 7 step order and only worth 2 points. extra credit is a joke.
Here is a real deal with this guy. If you really want to learn AP and Patho hands down there is no better professor at Oakton than him. He combines theory with clinical applications. Also took us on an autopsy field trip which was really neat. If you looking for easy A without learning much than take the course with someone else.
Unless u plan on going to med school, RUN AWAY. His grading is too meticulous & way too much detail for a community college-level course. He says he cares about his students yet is not willing to work with u during extenuating circumstances. Extra credit is a joke- 2x the work than what u r already doing in class.
Great prof for Patho. Accommodating, caring, fast grader. Five stars
Dr. Handzic is an exceptionally knowledgable physiologist and proffesor. His course is very difficult, and he does this intentionally to "weed out" the less motivated students. If you have a lot of free time/dedication and you REALLY want to master A&P, he is as best as they come. If you're looking for an easy A, run in the other direction.
This teacher knows his stuff. If you want a professor that is very fast paced in lectures then take the class. Otherwise find another professor. I would not take this class in-person with this professor he is very hard to understand in terms of lectures. For all of his exam he does Multi-select answers. This professor is not a 5 star rating at all.
Good professor. To prepare for exams study directly off of study guide answers he provides on D2L. Also complete extra credit in each tier. this helped me pull my final grade from C to B.
He is nice and funny HOWEVER I do not recommend enrolling in his class if you have a life outside of college (work) OR taking other courses. You have to study nonstop for his class if you want to pass. During the first week, he encouraged people to drop his course. Overall, great person but extremely harsh as a teacher.
Love his videos...explains concepts clearly and concisely. Tons of extra credit :)))
He knows a lot about the topics he covers in class, however the exams are INSANELY hard
Great prof...follows up with all my questions quickly and its dope that he plays background music during labs.
Dr. H is everything that a great prof should be...knowledgeable, organized, kind, respectful. Takes us to filed trips gives meaningful and fun extra credit. Tried to give him a gift towards the end of semester for all the help he gave me prepared for MCATs and he refused to accept because his student success is his job. That is integrity folks :)
Gives lots of extra credit opportunities for very little credit, and they only really count if you are close enough to attend class in person. I don't understand the need of group projects for an online course, it seems a bit lazy. The participation credits are a bit all over the place as well, you HAVE to be on top of deadlines.
Five starts :)
The level of knowledge this prof has and the way he teaches just blows my mind. Wow wow wish I also had him for AP I.
Get ready for lots of videos for human anatomy! He is nosy on honor lock exams, I have two children and he was looking on what I had on my night stand!. I do not appreciate on how he even asked for a desk when I cant afford a desk. I am a stay at home mother and I would not recommend this professor. very rude nor understanding.
He was very accomodating to me and allowed me to take exams in the testing center beacuse I could not afford to pay for Honorlock.
Exams are insanely difficult. Study Guides are 45-60 pages long with no clear answers. Lots of lectures and tries to include every single detail on the exams. If you plan on taking him, beware of having no social or work life.
Tough class but definitelly prepares you well for PA school. You have to ask for help and he provides ton of resources.
This man is very passionate. Tons of extra credit and helpful extras. I felt very supported.
Many many thanks to you Dr. H. I have learned so much from you this semester. I feel ready to take on the world :) Your kindness and support made all the difference.
I absolutely loved this online class. I've never had a professor so organized and detailed. He provided resources for everything imaginable, so there was truly no excuse to earn below a B. He genuinely cares about his students and their success. I would take him again 100%.
