open note tests. attendance isnt mandatory but he does have you sign in every day. Make sure when doing essays that you are very clear on what your talking about. 2 essays and 3 tests
AMAZING teacher!!!!1 loved going to history class :) he makes history super interesting, keeps you awake the whole time, plus he's an easy grader and has open note tests!!! and he's hot!!!1 what more can you ask for?! take him!
Cool teacher! His lectures were interesting and his tests open-note! You'll have to write 2 essays but it's easy! I'm so glad I had him this semester. Oh and don't buy the textbook, we never used it.
He's hot! and he's so nice and patient! He makes the lectures interactive by asking the class if they have any questions, comments, or criticism. He makes you never want to miss a thing when he does lectures.
Great Teacher! easy Tests and He's understanding with attendance.I Recommend him
One of the best teachers I've ever had hands down. He has a great sense of humor and really keeps things interesting and is crystal clear. I actually looked forward to waking up and going to his class. He seems like a guy id want to drink a beer with.
Hands down the best professor I have had to date. He is extremely engaging during lectures (he spends so much time making prezis so that we can learn better through interactive presentations). He has a great sense of humor and is a great orator. Don't buy the textbook, you won't need it. TAKE HIM!!! Best two classes I have ever taken.
Best teacher I've had! Definitely will help when you ask and exams are all open note! Just show up, take notes and you'll get an easy A!
Great teacher! You will never use the textbook because he covers the material through his prezis which are made available online through blackboard. He is incredibly engaging and welcomes questions. Tests are open-note and multiple choice there is one or two major essays but they are very manageable. Go to class, takes notes, and you'll be fine.
Open to any and all questions... 3 open note tests (including final) 1-2 essays, not to hard. attendance isn't mandatory, but is a part of your grade. lectures through Prezi's which are posted on BB in case you miss a class. take notes and attend class and you shouldnt get lower than a B.
Best professor ever, tests are all open notes! But, tests are difficult.. You must attend class and try hard. If he see's that you care he does also. He is very detailed in the way he teaches. He is understandable! I would take him over again, oh and he's young so don't try to BS him.. Saw some students who tried to lol save yourself the trouble
He's nice and laid back. doesn't give lots of work, 2 essays and 3 open note tests. come to class and study, and you'll get a good grade. He makes history interesting and his power points/ prezis are helpful.
Just attend his class and listen to his lectures, take some good notes. His class is super easy, not at the expense of not learning anything. You walk out of his class knowing better about history. You know more than just history after you're done.
Mr. Cincinnati was one of the best history teachers I've ever had. I never wanted to miss a class because his lectures were interesting and funny. All of his tests were open note (I never needed them because he's such a great teacher), but they can be confusing. He is young so he relates well to his students. Major bonus.. He is hot!
Class is never boring, take notes as the exams are online and open note. Not too much homework but reading is required(although 95% of exam material is in notes). Would strongly suggest his class, especially if you are a history buff, which I am not.
Inly used one out of the two textbooks. Do the readings and take notes on thing he highlights in class. Open note online tests. Great lectures.
He is the great professor. However, for this 200 level class, his grading is not easy at all. I think I get B, but I do love this class.
Great professor!! I strongly recommend!
You will not use the regular textbook, but you will absolutely use the Primary Documents book.
I'm typically not interested in history classes but definitely take His 121 and 122 with him. He explains things very well, he talks to you like the adult that you are and he makes you want to come to class. He is an awesome teacher. Barely any homework.
Just an awesome professor! Super interesting, don't like history all that much, but looked forward to coming to his class. He has a way of making things relevent
Amazing teacher! He clearly knew his stuff and was so helpful. All in all, this was an super easy course because of him. So was 122. I definitely recommend both to all Nova students. Best professor ever!
Awesome professor. I didn't have much of an interest in this course before I took it, but I loved it. He makes it very interesting. As long as you show up to class and pay attention you should get an A. He's very helpful.
His lectures are awesome. Take notes in class and the exams are easy. Come to class for the attendance. The paper was a breeze if you answer the question and follow directions. This was the easiest class and I learned so much from him.
BEST NOVA PROFESSOR EVER! Very few assignments: 3 mini assignments leading up to the final essay and 3 online exams. attendance is part of the grade, but being in class is worth it. everything said is on the the exams, nothing extra, and he genuinely cares to make sure you are doing well. Smart, encouraging, and engaging. Take him!
He's a young, friendly guy who cares about his students He makes you pay attention bc you're not gonna wanna miss a thing Easy to talk to-he's very open-and he lets you use notes for tests Make sue you read the book tho-he likes to throw in a few book questions. PLEASE TAKE HIM I cried when I finished his 102 class bc hes that good.
He's extremely clear with his lecture, don't miss any class! Even though his lectures notes are on blackboard, attendance is mandatory. 3 online test with open notes, some assignments and one paper.
Dr. Cincinnati is by far the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are really engaging and easy to follow along. There aren't many tests but if there are they are all open note and are done online (usually open for about 3 days). There is some writing but it's fairly easy and he gives great feedback. Plus, he's hot. LOVE THIS TEACHER!!
He is the best!!! I didn't really like history but his lectures made it interesting. There are 3 tests (multiple choice) 15% each and 44 questions. All are taken on blackboard so you can do it at home if you want. Also a final essay due at end of semester which isn't really hard. Attendance is 10% of your grade. Take him!!!
Had mixed feelings towards him, he seemed very helpful and knowledgable about everything he was talking about. But on the other hand his lectures seemed to just drag on a lot of the times. I didn't care for his weighted grading scale, which weighed me down about 4 percent and kept me from a B in the class. All in all a decent professor.
He is an excellent professor. His lectures are fluid and easy to follow. His personality makes the course enjoyable. He encourages interaction among his students. The workload was fair and pertinent to the material that was covered. He posts his presentations online, but his lectures make the content more clear. Take this professor.
He gives excellent feedback on your homework and and he is always willing to help. There is no extra credit, but his homework and the essay are fair and if you put effort in it he's going to see it and you'll receive a good grade. Exams are open note and open book. Would definitely take him again!
He is one of the best professor's I've ever had! The group discussions were very informative and fun, and he's really passionate about what he teaches. His lectures were easy to follow and very informative, and he often took time to answer questions and really explain the answer to everyone. I highly, highly recommend him and would take again!
Dr. C is inspiring. Best teacher I've ever had. He'll make you care about history, even if you don't. He is very confidant in his position when it comes to history and politics, and is not afraid to share it along with a good story. My advice: Dr. C comes close to Godliness- take his class and just remember to form your own opinion.
Hardest exams ever. Studied the slides took notes but never got higher than a 70 on any exam. Super tough. Don't take.
Straight up awesome professor! Just take him.
I didn't find the test hard, I took notes on what he says rather than what the prezi says, and would study a weak ahead. Takes for ever to respond to emails. Essay was a bit confusing. He's a good teacher and knows his stuff.
Skip class and you wont pass. 100 point participation grade, every unexcused absent he brings you down a letter grade. Tests are all online, lectures are all prezis that are also posted online. Lets you use your laptop, very funny. Doesn't really care if you're on your phone but if you respect him he'll respect you back. Would recommend this course
Currently taking his 121 in the summer with Cincinnati and to be honest I came into this class and thought it would be easy, but class and lecture notes was too long. Test is online but was timed for about an hour and a half which isn't enough for a 4 hr class. Hes a cool guy but he assigned too much hw and essay was a bit confusing.
Awesome class and professor! Very engaging lectures. Gives students lots of opportunities for feedback, questions, and discussions. Goes out of his way to help you learn. Got a lot out of his class. Looking forward to taking other classes with him.
I usually like history class and find it easy but Cincinnati made this class 100x harder and this was a summer course. lectures and notes are long and not that useful for test when you take them. He expects you to be on time and talk in class, his hw and essay are confusing. Also the way he word test question was confusing and not in class notes.
I wish had 10 other professors just like him. Looked forward to every class--made studying history really eye opening for me.
Every class was interesting. He's a great history professor because he uses his classes to tell a story that connects to everything. Went out of his way to answer any question and really cared about my progress in the course. Would take again!
I took both 121 and 122 with him. He is the best professor I've had at NOVA. He answers all of your questions and takes the time to help you understand history. Ended up being an easier A than I thought cause history is not my strongest.
Took him for his121, we had 3 tests, all take home. 3 home work assignments about the readings out of the book. 1 essay. So hes passionate about history and you will learn. But the way he words his test makes them difficult. The essay is very confusing to do. Take him if you want but its up to you with what grade you want...
Liked his class. Cool guy. Young. Really into teaching. Go to class, take good notes, do the work and you will do well!
Take him!!!! Awesome class.
One of my favorite professors at NOVA. I loved his lectures, which he combined with a great sense of humor (very sarcastic) that made each class really fun and interesting. Always tried to get students to interact, ask questions, and contribute to classes. Will be taking him again.
Took him for HIS 121 great lectures you can tell he's super passionate about history he's also sarcastic which made for some funny moments but not many lol, show up to class on time try to participate there's 3 exams all through black board and you'll be fine the test were really easy 1 essay assignment. Hes also really cute if that helps haha
One of the best teachers I've ever had! Really knows his stuff and has a passion for history. You do have to put in some effort on his homework assignments (there are not many) and his one essay but his 3 exams are online, multiple choice, and open source. Also, you only need one of the books that are "required." Just ask him and he'll tell you.
okay soo I don't know if these people are being completely honest but I took him for his 121 and ive gotten As in every history class ive taken so far. so let me tell you the truth. yes 3 take home test 40+ questions each not easy tests I can tell you that. 1 essay about sources from the text book and wow he expects a lot from you. like wow.
Don't love history, but I love dr. Cincinnati. He's really into teaching and his lectures are pretty gripping. His assignments are fair. Just follow the directions and he'll help you if you ask--I ended up doing better than I ever thought I would. I would take him again but already filled all of my history requirements.
I loved taking both his U.S. History 121 and 122. He is an amazing teacher, as long as you come to class and go through the prezi's that he posts on BlackBorad you are good. All of the test are online through blackboard there is one essay but if you do all of the worksheets he gives you it is really easy. You MUST read the readings that he gives.
The most helpful and motivated professor so far. He truly cares about all of his students and is always wanting to help students succeed. Makes lectures fun, interesting and easy to understand. There's at most 5 homework assignments within the whole semester and all are pretty easy. I would definitely recommend him and would take again.
Lectures were always full of interesting content that was presented in clear and absorbing ways. He has a passion for educating that was apparent through the whole semester and his sincerity was inspiring. Takes his job very serious and will show you the respect that you show him.
One of the best Ive ever had. Great teaching style, has a passion and knowledge for the subject, answers questions thoroughly. Few homework assignments, quizzes are very easy if you take good notes (hard not to with his prezzis).Only thing is he is a VERY tough grader on the research paper, nothing below an A- then the paper dragged me down to a C..
My favorite professor. Came to every class expecting amazing lectures and he never disappointed. Assignments were straightforward and he really provides a lot of support if you need it. I wish NOVA had more professors like him.
Love this professor. Great class and he's really impressive in his commitment to the students and giving amazing lectures. My view is take him, sit back and enjoy!
Dr. C. is incredible prof. Don't be late! Long lectures but engaging & passionate. Will help if you ask, there are no dumb questions. Encourages participation. 3 hw assignments using primary sources to prepare for final essay. 3 at home exams: multiple choice, open note. Sarcastic, funny, clear, responds to emails fast & very easy on the eyes!
Professor Cincinnati has been an incredible history professor and makes me appreciate the history department at NOVA with my third great professor in history. He loves what he has to share and gives context while separating the important and the aside. I had no trouble achieving an A and the only thing to ensure yourself is to be signed in on time.
Second class I took with him and totally worth it. Lectures really hook you in. He gives lots of comments on your writing, which is a nice change of pace from other professors. Everyone should take him.
He is an okay professor. His lectures are not boring but his grading is hard. He does not give the test but he gives out the paper to write based on reading the text book. You have to talk/discuss during his lectures to get full attendant grades. Even if you attend class everyday (no tardy), you still get low attendant grades.
No tests and grading is based on four writing assignments. Dr. C emphasizes engaging with the course material while learning how to analyze info and write about it. Great class.
No textbook, no tests, no quizzes. Just reading and writing assignments, show up to class and you'll get an A
Took both summer and regular classes with him--he's an awesome professor! Does a great job hooking you in with riveting lectures. Just four short writing assignments. I would take more classes with him but I am transferring. Take him!
Mr. C is the best professor I've had in my whole school history. His lectures are long, but engaging and very funny, you'll never get bored. He has a no-exam policy, the grade is based in 4 papers through the whole semester, and 3 of them are only one page long. Do the work and participate in class and you'll get an A. NO CELL PHONES, NO TARDIES!
There are no tests. Participation means more than just showing up, you have to ask questions, you know stay engaged. There are four writing assignments that are based on the reading. TBH I didn't read anything and I still got an A. Try tho!!
I've had Dr. C. for 2 semesters, and I promise he is one of THE BEST professors at NOVA. Lectures are long but engaging. He's passionate & caring. If u need help, utilize his office hours, gives great feedback. Responds to all emails quickly. He's a man of integrity who will inspire u. Do the work, go to class, & do not be late and u will do well.
Dr. Cinci is a great professor. He is more concerned about you actually learning the materials as opposed to being able to regurgitate info on a test. He does an amazing job of separating facts from his opinions and wants you to share yours. Great guy! 10/10 would recommend.
I took Dr. C for both His 121 and His 122! He really cares about the material he teaches, and it very passionate. No exams, but 4 papers that help you become a better writer and historian. I am typically a shy person, but he makes it easy for you to participate, since its also part of your grade. Take his class!
Best professor Ive EVER had!! No tests just papers. Lectures and engaging and interesting.
The best History class I have ever taken. Instead of testing you on dates and names that you'll just brain dump later, he presents history in an interesting way with historical and modern context. He challenges you to analyze world events, not just memorize them. Take a course with him any chance you get.
Dr. Cincinnati is great. The whole semester you have only 2 drafts one 1 page essay and a 5 page final essay! Attendance it 20 percent of the grade so you have to attend class in order to get a good grade. The reading are provided online so you do not need a text book. NO TESTS AND QUIZZES!
He focuses on racism and slavery in pre-colonial to civil war USA, and he handles it well. His lectures are funny and really informative. There are a few writing assignments, but no tests.
Very awesome lecturer, he makes you feel involved into the subject he's talking about. Also, he is very informed on the material and will have you interact with him for participation. Only a few writing assignments and no tests or quizzes. Pay attention in class and use critical thinking to write your papers and you will get a good grade.
I wish I had taken Dr. Cincinnatti earlier, so I could have taken a few more of his classes. The class is entirely based on writing/reading: four writing assignments that build up to a final essay based on primary source documents (about 150 pages total). He likes to focus more than big ideas than dates/names such as imperialism and nationalism.
He is a good lecturer. However, his real grading criteria and rating is so different from this website.
Outstanding professor! Taking his history courses has changed the way Ive thought about what I was taught before. Take him!
Dr. Cincinnati is an awesome historian with a clear goal to teach his students an accurate portrayal of history. He uses prezis which is a better form of PowerPoint which makes his lectures easy to understand. Attendance is hugely important to him and he checks every day at the beginning of class. No tests, all grades are taken from essays. Easy A
Hes really good at teaching History! His lectures are inspirational and easy to follow. Even though there is no test, still, Take notes for your final assignment, and come to class on time. The way he teaches is really at the college level. HES A TOUGH GRADER, SO PLEASE USE HIS OFFICE HOUR FOR ALL YOUR WRITING ASSIGNMENTS.
I don't know why this professor has 1.9 difficult rate. He gives only 10 minutes break in 3 hrs and 45 minutes class and he is such a tough grader! Very tough! and no extra credit!
Amazing class. Although it was a long summer class, he made it fly by with his thought-provoking lectures. Only a few writing assignments. He will provide you with supportjust have to reach out to him. Ill be signing up for more of his courses.
Dr C is awesome and inspiring! Clear syllabus, respectful but don't be tardy- it's rude. Available for help, responsive to emails and office calls. Makes history fun and exciting. Would take him again and wished he taught other subjects. 4 papers, no final exam. Easy A if you participate, write papers, and show up on time.
Dr. C is very passionate about the subject he teaches, he's not afraid to express his opinions on any given matter. His lecture's are pretty lengthy. He takes attendance very seriously, but is sympathetic if you have a legitimate excuse. No tests, just 4 papers. Easy grader, just follow the essay guidelines exactly- it's very straightforward.
I took Dr. Cincinnati for both History 121 and 122 and really enjoyed them both. His classes are pretty lecture-heavy but they're really engaging, so I didn't mind. We didn't have any formal tests or exams, just a paper and smaller assignments leading up to it, which I really appreciated. Overall I'd recommend him!
Dr. Cincinnati has been one of the most captivating lecturers of my college career. His lectures, while very in-depth, are incredibly interesting. He does track tardiness, so make the effort to always show up on time. He clearly establishes his grading criteria, and gives solid feedback. You just have to be willing to write college-level quality.
I had heard great things about Dr. C and I was not disappointed. His HIS121 course was one of the best courses Ive taken. His lectures are eye-opening and hes very accommodating in helping you do well on the class work (short writing assignments). Will be taking his summer course!
Really great class! Best lectures by any professor Ive had. Provides lots of feedback on written work and really generous with his time during his office hours to provide extra help. Class readings provided online so there is no extra cost. I wish Nova had 30 professors just like him.
Great professor and great class. Hes a very popular professor to take US history with and I understand why. Lectures are riveting and workload is fair. Most helpful professor Ive had. Looking forward to HIS122 with him.
Highly, highly recommend.
ready to read and read. do papers. no exams, tests. everything you need to do is read and write papers. you are free to go to his office hours to get help. I did it a lot to improve my grades. READ A LOT! no need textbooks.
Loved his class. No exams just short writing assignments that lead to a final essay. Always available to help you. Super entertaining lectures and brings a lot of passion to teaching history. Highly recommend.
Dr. Cincinnati is the most incredible professor ive had at nova. He demonstrates a clear knowledge of what hes talking about and his lectures are very intriguing and entertaining. He cares a lot about the students and you can find him at his office hours. His assignments are mainly a few very short papers based off of primary sources
Cincinnati is arguably one of the best educators I've ever been able to learn from. His vast knowledge of the subjects and his ability to convey that clearly is remarkable. Lectures are engaging & he opts for a semester of short assignments that culminate into a final paper in lieu of "formal" exams which allows us to be able to think more freely.
Knows what he is doing and cares about the subject. Pay attention and you pass.
For someone who doesn't like History, he is a great HIS professor. His lectures are presented on prezi, so there interesting and informative. The assignments you get are about 4 mini essays, and a final essay. Attendance is mandatory so take notes, pay attention, read sources, do assignment. Only struggle would be writing good, strong essays.
I hate history, but Prof Cincinnati has made the lectures very interesting and I've genuinely enjoyed his class. You will have 3 short papers throughout the semester and a 6-8 page final essay. They should be pretty easy to do if you read the primary source readers he assigns (5 total, each consisting of 25-45 pages). Take notes & pay attention.
Dr. C is a very awesome professor. He understands that we have a life and that not everything you read in textbooks are relevant. Therefore, he gives four 30-40 page sources to read for each unit for each essay. He is definetly a harsh grader on essays, but if you go in and talk to him he tells you how to write like a historian, getting you an A
Dr. C is a great choice for history. His classes are interesting and it is clear that he is truly interested in what he is teaching. He has no tests, he cares less about memorizing dates and more about gripping the significance of the history. This class made me love history. If you have the chance, TAKE HIS CLASS.
Took the class online over the summer. Really great lectures (via zoom), but he tended to ramble. I didn't watch some of the lectures, which was fine because everything was in his Prezi presentations. The only work in the class was easy weekly lecture quizzes, and a final essay based on primary sources assigned each week. Easy A if you take notes.
Professor C was cool and honestly, I rarely attended class & I stilled passed because he would record the lecture so I would watch it later. What I didn't like was how he graded us by a few things which sometimes was hard to get 100 on. The final consists of a 6-8 page essay & it SUCK because I already had to write 5-page papers for others classes
Take him!! I can't recommend him enough. I took both HIS 121 and 122 with him and loved them both. He makes lectures really interesting and engaging and is VERY helpful and caring in office hours.
My inner saboteur got to me at the beginning of the course and he was very caring in feedback and helped me get back on track. I ended up passing and I highly recommend you take his class if you're at Annandale or using Zoom. He really cares about how his students do.
I heard he was a cool teacher in person therefore I took the class. It seems like he got a little more uptight because we moved online. He grades very harshly. Like VERY! If you are one of those people who are just naturally good at history you're gucci. If you're not then try to find a diff professor. Overall he knows what he's talking about :)
Best remote experience Ive had so far. Dr. Cincinnatis classes over zoom were always captivating. Most interesting history course Ive taken. He requires a few short papers that lead up to final essay. He provides great feedback, especially if you reach out to him over email.
This professor literally gave 5bassignments all semester, if you do badly on 1 you get a bad grade for the class, no extra credit no redemption, nothing. He is a tough grader, his lectures put me to because of how long they are. I HIGHLY recommend you don't take him, his class dropped my GPA by A LOT. If you take him I'll pray for you. Gluck bud
Second time I took a class with Dr. Cincinnati and it did not disappoint. Really interesting lectures, no tests, and just writing assignments based on primary source readings. He treats us like adults which I appreciate!
Knowing the lecture material is essential because you need to know it for lecture assessments/papers but thats no problem since his lectures are very interesting and engaging. The final paper can be stressful since its a big percentage of your grade but he gives great feedback on previous assignments that can help with the final paper.
Lecture heavy! Get ready to read a lot. All of his assignments are based on your readings and notes. He will definitely fail you if he doesnt like you.
I normally struggle in history classes, but Dr. C was incredibly helpful. Always available during his zoom office hours and would do his best to help me understand the class readings and writing assignments. I got a B in his class and I really felt like he was one of the most helpful teachers Ive ever had. Take his classes!!
Good Professor. For this class, every graded was a short essay or a paper. The syllabus was arranged well, grading criteria was clear, lectures were good. I will take this professor again.
Ok imagine someone giving lectures on history that can be so boring but the professor makes it really interesting. This is exactly how Dr C lectures When he lectures he makes it really engaging always asking us questions and asking us for our thoughts The only professor at nova fully equipped to handle virtual lectures everyone should take notes.
DO NOT TAKE HIM AS YOUR PROFESSOR! Does't reply to your emails, messages, or even phone calls. He tries to be nice during the lectures and says we can email him if we have questions but that A BIG LIE. He takes points off for no reason. It's A BIG NO. If you don't wanna ruin your gpa, waste money, and time. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Super interesting lectures. Always looked forward to our zoom meetings. Even with two kids at home cause of the pandemic he made time for his students and really helped me improve on my work. Wish more professors were like him.
One of the worst and entitled professor I have ever encountered. You can attend to all his classes, take all of his notes, and he will still grade you unfairly. No feedbacks. He will try to make himself sound smart by asking complex broad questions that doesn't even make sense. Will tell you to ask him questions through email and doesn't respond.
Great class! 2 short papers and 1 final essAy. No tests! His lectures, even over Zoom, were always interesting and really eye-opening. Taking him for 122!
Remote semester not ideal with everything going on, but he did a great job making the class feel as normal as possible. You can tell he puts a lot work into his lectures. Wants you to get excited about US history. I really enjoyed it!
attended 75% of his lectures and all it was was just him either debating with one of his students for an hour and 30 minutes or him repeating the same information in a different way.
Love Dr. C! Had him as both an adviser and professor. Very generous with him time, down to earth, and all around great teacher.
Brilliant lectures even over zoom. Really teaches US history in ways you wont get in high school (especially the history of slavery) No textbook with all readings provided free and online. Always available to help you with your work if you need it. Great class overall!
He is an amazing professor. His lectures are easy to follow along. Tests are open notes so pay attention and take good notes because the prezi are not available during the tests. The only downside to this class is that your grade is based on 3 papers, so if you are not good at writing and prefer tests then this class might not be for you.
Dr. Cincinnati is a real gem! He truly cares about his students and he gives helpful feedback on every assignment. His lectures were insightful, interesting, and very easy to follow. While the overall grade is only based on a few things, if you take good notes and pay attention, a good grade is very attainable. I will definitely take him for 122!
One of the worst Professor I ever had. Took good notes & covered tons of readings, still got C. His gave only 5 writing assignments for grade. Took 4 to 5 weeks to grade the first two assignments, graded these extremely harsh, and, worst yet, he provided no feedback to guide future assignments. All semester covered just one topic: slavery.
Hands down, best professor Ive had through remote teaching since the pandemic began! Cant wait to take him in person!
Best professor at NOVA! Love Dr. C! Wish they had him af Mason.
Hes really good. Took him last spring, but he was on leave this past fall. Finally taking his next class!
Taking him virtually right now and I do have to say that he’s very good at lecturing but there are no multiple choice exams and only essays and reading assessments which is all writing and he is a VERY tough grader which is very frustrating and if you’re not good at U.S. History and you just need the credit DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
One of the best professors out there. An amazing historian who knows and understands history very well and explains it in a way that's so passionate and easy to understand. Every class is like a story-telling session that I always look forward to, especially as someone who has never been able to grasp history material all my life up until his class
It is not a lot of work. Very tough questions. Does not care student. He can not explain questions clearly. And he does not give answers after finishing the assignments.
Professor Cincinnati was one of the best instructors I've had at NOVA. He has amazing lectures and is very intriguing. It is aware that he knows what he is talking about and is clear he is passionate when it comes to history. There were about 4 assignments the entire semester and the final was a final paper 6-8 pages. I would take his class again.
Took forever to grade assignments and we only had a total of 5 tests but we could only use our notes and primary sources he creates/provided for us. His lectures were always filled with so much information and he would often get off track. This is a history class not a English class. Do not recommend.
very hard assignments. do not recommend
Such a great class and professor. 2 writing assignments and 3 short lecture assessments. Really helpful if you meet him during office hours. Taking him in person in the fall for sure!
Great professor. I am strong in English and writing, so my papers definitely helped me get through class. His lectures are interesting, but long. However, he puts details into lectures which make it fun. I would recommend if you do not mind writing short answer responses to quizzes, and if you are able to do papers comfortably. No extra credit!
Best professor this semester for sure, he's so nice and very passionate about what he teaches. Just listen to his lectures and you'll get an easy A. He's very sweet and cares for the students. His tests are based off of what he says in class and 1 or 2 sources that he provides. His tests are open-note and you got 3 days to complete.
He is just about one of the best history professors that I have ever had. I would go to these for fun if I could. He is a fair grader, but as long as you take your notes liberally then you should be fine. I'd recommend writing down nearly everything possible. He is probably the best teacher on the Annandale campus.
Dr. Cincinnati was incredible to learn from and I am so glad I took this course with him. His assingnments are clear and easy to understand. He is welcoming and caring; asking questions is very easy. If you are given the opportunity to take one of his courses, I strongly urge you to do so.
He is by far my favorite professor. He's very understanding and explains everything clearly, and is very straightforward. His classes are pretty chill. Make sure you have a pen and a notebook because you'll be writing down many notes from his Prezi. Over all, he was a great prof. I would retake his class.
Amazing professor!! His lectures are very engaging and eye-opening. You must take good lecture notes and read the primary sources to pass the class. A total of 3 reading assessments and 2 writing assignments so each one matters for your grade!! Try not to miss a class and if you do ask a classmate for the notes because they will be important later!
Dr. Cincinnati is very chill. As long as you show up, and take notes, you'll get a good grade. His grades basically consists of three lecture/reading assignments, one micro-essay and one final essay. His lectures are a little boring sometimes but other than that, I would highly recommend taking his class.
Prof. Cincinnati is a phenomenal lecturer and makes history very interesting to learn - even for a STEM guy like me. He's more than qualified to teach history and has answers for virtually any question relevant to the material. He's very clear with assignment due dates, late policies, etc. No in-class work either which makes lecture immersive.
In class, it's just lectures, but super engaging ones, at that! He encourages discourse among students about topics and makes sure he answers all students' questions. Few assignments with clear grading criteria. Generous late work policy. One of the most caring and helpful professors I've met! Take thorough notes; don't put off assignments!
He is honestly the best professor I have ever had. I would take him again in a heartbeat. If college were free, I would go to his lectures for fun. He makes the history super interesting, and he seems to have an in-depth knowledge of everything. I don't think I have one criticism of him, he's awesome. If you need a history credit, take him.
Super nice professor. He makes sure to get ur intention in class, makes you feel engaged with his teachings.Makes his OWN quizzes that are hard and it can take you a long time to answer them. Dont take his class if ur taking other courses that u know will be difficult. Never responds to emails.Overall nice teacher, but difficult quizzes n essays 6pg
Phenomenal professor. Lectures are engaging and the accompanied presentation is a neatly-formatted prezi. Ask a question, and he will answer it astonishingly well. His knowledge continued to surprise me. You MUST take notes in this class, as the tests are derived from the Prezis. Homework is intensive but rare. Final paper was long but well done.
Incredible professor with very organized presentations and extensive knowledge of history that spans far beyond the required curriculum of the course. Classes were very engaging, he makes history not only interesting but fun. Excellent.
Just take notes during the lectures and stay up to date on stuff and you'll be fine
professor is a great teacher and makes history fun, you will do good as long as u take notes in class and do the assignments.
TAKE PROFESSOR CINCINNATI! Professor Cincinnati is the most caring and understanding professor at NOVA. He really cares about his students and their success. Professor Cincinnati is very accommodating to your needs, and will do what he can to help you AS LONG AS YOU SHOW UP TO CLASS, PAY ATTENTION AND PUT IN EFFORT! You will not regret taking him.
I would recommend his class to anyone. His lectures are very well done and he is amazing at explaining things. If you have a question he will answer it to the best of his ability and if he is not 100% sure he will ask the class to fact-check it. I would take notes because they are super helpful for tests and 2 short reading assessments.
Every class was like an episode of some awesome show. Seriously. Never had a professor before who could teach in such an entertaining way. He got me to love history. I highly recommend.
I took Dr. Cincinnati twice and both classes were outstanding. Best prof at NOVA.
BEST history teacher ever! The lectures are actually so engaging and he's very easy to contact. Gives honest and useful feedback when it comes to your final essay. As long as you do the work, You'll do good.
He has very engaging lectures and is very knowledgeable in the subject matter. His entire course had less than 10 total assignments to do, and you had plenty of time to do so. Highly recommend for anyone trying to get their transfer credit out the way. Show up to class and take notes! His Lecture and reading assignemts were open note and easy to do
I've taken many History classes but seriously, Dr. Cincinnati's lectures are just on another level! I've never seen anyone better than him. His lectures are amazing. I had so much fun over the semester, and he made me like History so much! TAKE HIM! You will not regret it. BEST BEST BEST professor ever! I wish I could take more of his classes.
As you can see by the other reviews, Professor Cincinnati is a gem. Took him for 2 semesters and it actually made me excited to go to school lol. His lectures are AMAZING and super super interesting. ASK QUESTIONS! He always has an answer for them, even if it's not on-topic! He doesn't have tests and only 1 essay at the end of the semester. Great!!
I took him over the summer, and it was possibly the best course I've taken at NOVA. The lectures were easy to follow, and he makes it fun to attend class. I would 100% recommend taking this course.
Professor Cincinnati is an engaging lecturer who makes history interesting. As long as you attend class, take notes, and put in the effort, you'll do well. I found unstuckstudy and the free textbook super helpful for study prep. Definitely a class I'd recommend taking.
100% take him if you can! He's so knowledgable and has an answer for everything. His class was mostly lectures with a multiple-choice assignment per unit and a couple writing assignments. His lectures are super interesting and I looked forward to class every week. He takes attendance and gave the people who came regularly extra credit at the end.
Mr.Cincinnati is a wonderful professor. Lectures are interesting. two types of grades are Multiple-choice, open-note, take-home lecture assessments. archive questions you do have to write a little in this part, but he wasn't harsh on grading He takes attendance for extra credit if attend 80%. he has a no Ai policy and takes it seriously for archive
Professor Cincinnati makes lectures engaging and assessments easy. I was pleased with this class until the end of the semester when he “ran out of time” and did not teach past WWII. He did not alter the final assignment, so we had to teach ourselves the last portion of content. I enjoyed the class but was disappointed by the lack of time management
Professor Cincinnati expertly guided me through American history. His lectures are captivating, akin to a well-crafted movie; they leave you eager to learn more, with an engaging plot full of intrigue. I really enjoy his archive assignments; however, you have to read a lot to complete them.
He's awesome. One of the few professors I remembered from my time at NOVA.
Good at giving decent lectures. No material posted on canvas, just grades. Not accessible, difficult to reach. Open-note exams taken at home, no lockdown browser. Doesn't really care about his students. Probably wouldn't take again but he could be worse.
"Lecture heavy" but he makes his lectures intriguing and engaging. Professor Cincinnati was very articulate and knowledgeable with history so if you like history it will be easy and enjoyable
His course was awesome. He might change this but when I took his class we only had one writing assignment a month, 4 assignments for the whole class. Def a tough grader but I loved his lectures, all you have to do is show up, act interested and do that assignment and you'll pass. You can tell he loves what he does, overall easy course.
Absolutely adored taking this course!! I failed this course with him the first time I took it due to my own personal issues and I still took the course with him a second time. Very passionate about History and helping you get the most out of being his student. Take him for any course if you have the opportunity!! I truly feel bettered by it.
Very nice and accesible.
Very fun and engaging lectures. He clearly loves history, and it shows in the way he teaches. I learned a lot in this class and would definitely recommend him.
This guy tells history in the most interesting way I've ever seen from a teacher or professor. It's an incredibly immersive experience that really gets you engaged with the content that he's teaching. Loved this class and loved the professor's teaching ability a lot! Highly recommend History 122 - History since 1865 (to 1980)!
A great and knowledgeable professor who teaches history in a very fascinating and brief way that interests the students and gain their attention. Like any other teacher, He is a tough grader when it comes to his NSC Background Briefing and NSC Memorandum. But overall, I would definitely recommend to other students to take his class for great credit
Genuinely one of the best lecture givers ever. He's a tough grader when it comes to the 2 writing assignments, but his unit assesments are very easy. He manages to both inform and entertain with his talk about different events in history and you can clearly tell he is passionate about the subject.
