Rushes through the chapters. Does the work problems FOR the students not with the students. His main excuse when students want to work together on a problem they don't understand is, "We don't have enough time for that". Creates story problem quizzes that takes approx. 30 minutes to complete but only gives 10 minutes. I'm an A-student. He gave me F
Goes too fast, doesn't explain, doesn't use the book at all, tries to reteach the book instead of referencing it. In a 2.5 hour class we are rarely given breaks. He rushes through most material citing "I don't have time to explain" Does not completely explain concepts. Work must be completed his way, regardless of variety of student learning styles
Really only used textbook for homework but I didn't mind that. People complained a lot he was picky at grading. To be fair, he tells you exactly how to write your work out and why. If you keep getting it wrong that's kind of your own fault. He always answered questions. Fair teacher, especially for a college course. I liked him.
Noah did a lot of examples on the board and tried to get the students to engage in learning. Offered out of class help to some students. I found the class to be somewhat difficult as I am not a math person.
Mr. Noah was a fair teacher. He took the majority of class time going through the problems and took the time to explain when anyone had questions. He's a good teacher and a nice guy who will work with you.
I had some concerns in the beginning. The thing is if you take control of your own education by meeting with him, going to tutoring, and asking lots of questions when you need clarification then you'll do great. You are in charge of your own grade. Now I think HE ROCKS! Go Noah.. With ya bad self :)
Noah is a great teacher! I almost didn't take his class because of poor ratings on this site but I'm glad I took it anyway. He lays out exactly what he expects of you and tells you exactly how to pass his class. I got an A. He offers a lot of support outside of class and uses great examples. I hope to take future classes with him.
Lots of homework that is not pre-determinded. He gives lots of book problem, esp story ones. He give "speed Quizes" each day, makes up a sheet of 3 story problems, then has you write three story problems plus prints "order of operations sheets off the web. All for each day. Nice & helpful but way too much stuff. He is also fast paced. Choose better.
He is amazing! I have always heavily struggled with math but he is very clear, give homework that is exactly what is on the test and he gives an extra credit assignment every single class time. had 104%! hes amazing a really cares that you succeed
Noah is an awesome teacher. He uses class time very efficiently and always gives extra credit, which helps raise your chances of getting high marks in his classes. He wants his students to succeed and truly understand the material. He does a fantastic job at teaching mathematics.
Rarely takes the time to fully explain concepts. Considers his way the only true way to learn Math. This would be great if any other professors or helpers in the tutoring centers could understand and assist in a way that he would approve of... I expected to work hard for this mark, but DON'T BOTHER with this class.
Doesn't always use mathematical methods from the REQUIRED text book. Personalizes concepts, making it difficult to get tutoring help. Requires all work to be shown, but gives little room to do so on tests and homework. Speeds through materials without clearly explaining concepts Offers to help tutor, but is typically unavailable for one on one time
The best math instructor ever! He is enthusiastic and passionate about math which is reflected in the way he teaches. He made the subject easier and interesting and he was always available for help. Totally recommended!!
Fantastic Instructor. Great clarity. Teaches in a way that is very helpful for learning. He was the best math instructor I have had. I wish I had him for the next term!!!! Highly recommend him!!!!
Best math teacher I've had. Dedicated to teaching and wants students to succeed. Explains things clearly and makes you feel comfortable even if you're struggling to understand the material.
Best math instructor I've taken- definitely recommended. Challenges students with lots of homework and quizzes, but you will actually learn the material and be prepped for calculus, physics or anything that requires trig. Gives EC and lots of chances to make up lost points. Goes way above and beyond to be available and support students.
I felt confident going into the class. This teacher was a very tough grader, he would deduct points on correct answers if you didn't have proper units or how your work was organized. He had nice office hours and was somewhat available to help. Conclusion: VERY HARD class. If math is hard for you, STAY AWAY from this professor.
Math has never been very difficult for me, but if I have a boring or uninterested professor it always affects my grade. Luckily, this has not been the case with Noah Dear. He is genuinely passionate about mathematics, and always helpful as long as you show interest. Definitely would take again.
This guy's awesome.
I love how this guy is really into math, it's just that he is scattered brained in his lectures and has to pause and redo things mid way. This makes it hard to take notes, and it's hard to know exactly what he expects on tests and stuff. I wish he was more structured. He is inspirational, but not all clear. He doesn't clarify due dates enough too.
You get out of it exactly what you put in. Have a question? ASK IT! Chances are everyone else has the same question. Noah wants you to learn but you must DO ALL THE HW when assigned and ask questions. Majority of class did not pass the first exam but had all semester to work back points for A. Class is FAST-PACED, intense and challenging. Loved it!
Awesome sense of humor. Hard tester, average grader. Didn't pass but still have respect for him. Be ready to study and do homework, having actual homework due was the only thing that made study so it was super useful. Ask him questions, office hours are there for a reason! Pop quizzes happen, take home quizzes happen more.
I took Calc III with Noah and he's easily one of the best professors I've ever had. He is a VERY dedicated teacher who uses class time well and really cares that his students learn the material. Pretty heavy work load and exams are not easy, but you will learn a lot! If you're taking math just for credit though, find an easier teacher
One of the best teachers I've ever had as far as ability to explain difficult material and help you understand it. Knows his craft very well. My only complaint was the workload, which was insane. I pulled about 5 or 6 all nighters doing homework or getting ready for tests. He'll work you to the bone, but highly recommend otherwise.
Definitely not an easy A, however if you are genuinely trying to learn, Noah will go above & beyond to teach you. I struggled a lot in his class with the amount of work, but he made himself available many times to help me understand it. It is very obvious he is passionate about math, which can be helpful and encouraging for people like me who arent
I had Noah for 3 terms in a row (Calc 1, 2, 3) and would have taken him again were it not for a scheduling conflict. He is, simply put, a great teacher who is incredibly helpful and diligent about helping you learn. The workload, however, is HEAVY. Expect 6-10 hours of homework weekly, and the tests can be brutal, but an A is possible.
He expects you to do homework, and be verbose with new concepts, completing them in a way that helps you to tackle later concepts. He uses book content but, if you take notes during lectures you won't need it (still a good resource). Gives extra credit. Available for questions. Good teacher but may be intimidating for some new college students.
Loved Noah as a professor. He was very clear with his expectations, and was exceptional at making sure everyone knew what we were doing and why. He's not an easy professor, but he goes out of his way to help if you ask for it.
Noah is an energetic dude with a passion for math. He moves fast, (too fast imo) covering on average 3-4 sections per week. Expect a lot of homework and difficult tests that test more for conceptual understanding than rote memorization. However, he pads his tests with some extra credit and accepts test corrections for partial credit.
Noah's approach is interesting but it's executed poorly. The piles of notes you accumulate for "homework" is overwhelming, I would not recommend him despite how helpful he is trying to be as the execution is poor.
Great instructor, looking forward to taking his linear algebra course. Be ready to put in work if you take his classes but he's very understanding and gives extra credit.
In my opinion Noah is one of the best math instructors at PCC. Its obvious that he's very passionate about the subject and his enthusiasm is contagious. I really appreciated his dedication to his students. If you care about the subject and are willing to do the assigned work, then you'll do just fine in his class. He also allows test corrections.
I actually understand math now. Before I would just go through the motions of a problem but now I understand what I'm doing. Noah tries really hard to get his students to understand math. He allows test corrections and gives awesome study guides. Tough class but a good teacher.
Top tier teacher! He gives help when you ask (within reason) the test/homework are fair neither should be too difficult for a part time/full time student 10/10 would recommend for everyone
He gives a lot of homework, and pushes you to do your best and think for yourself. Grades hw on completion. Hands out worksheets every week with the solutions as guidelines for the homework but also goes over them in lecture. Lab manual is available through his website and the pdf version of the textbook can be found online for free.
Unlike most teachers, Noah actually makes himself available to help you IF you ask. I mean for goodness sake, he even gives you his personal cell #. He thoroughly explains concepts during his lectures and is passionate about math. He is a difficult grader but allows test corrects for half the points. I 100% recommend Noah if you want to learn calc.
Noah was a Passionate Teacher, he moved you to Love Math/ or hate it, which remembered us that Math shouldn't be easy. There is a good amount of work involved in his course but, this does allow you to learn many things you wouldn't have got taken the same course with an "Easy Grader." All-in-all his a great teacher to have if you truly love Math!
He is bad. Steer clear away from this teacher. I did well on all my exams and still gave me just a C.
Noah is one of the best math professors at PCC. His tests are awesome - they're hard, a great shakedown, but he gives lots of points back. He even gives out his personal cell - this prof really cares about you learning concepts and being able to succeed. You will walk away from his class with a strong knowledge of the material.
Noah is great at explaining material and makes himself available to students who may need extra help. He gives handouts but take notes on EVERYTHING, having both really helps! Homework is now online with Aleks and the amount given is based on what you know already, so it's up to you. Anybody that says they hate trig never had Noah as an instructor.
If you ever have the opportunity, take a class with Noah. He is by far one of the best instructors at PCC. Yes, he assigns a fair bit of homework, but it really does help with comprehension of the material. He also provides the opportunity to earn back points on exams by completing exam reviews and doing test corrections.
I suggest people taking his class. I like the way he teaches because it looks like he is studying and discussing with us. That makes us follow the lesson easily and puts no pressure.
If you're looking for a math class to skate by and get the credit, this isn't it. But if you want to genuinely understand the material, Noah is the best math professor I've ever had. He cares about your notation, your class attendance, and gives an obscene amount of homework, but he makes himself 100% available for extra help and questions.
Pros are if you 100% complete an exam review then you can correct your exams for 50% points back and he makes himself very available for questions. That being said, he is bad at answering questions and his exam & review overcomplicates the material. There is too much homework. He lectures off a worksheet. Prepare to teach yourself and hate math.
I loved taking Noah for a few of my classes. He is a very unique professor who has a genuine love for math, which is rare nowadays. He looks at math like art, and takes time for students to ask questions and stay inspired. He encourages creativity, and his late work policy is clear and reasonable.
I just get the feeling that he actually cares. Its unfortunately normal to feel like just another face in the crowd and it stands out to feel like someone is putting in effort to help you in a way you can understand. And he's hot!
I only had Noah for one math class, but wish I could have for others as well. He cares about the material and has the ability to get the class excited to learn and understand. The exams are challenging, but if you go to class consistently, ask questions, and attend office hours as needed they are manageable.
Great teacher to have if you want to actually learn something!
I hate math, and I'm god awful at it. Noah was somehow able to make me hate it less. He's really laid back in that sense of he seems more like the friend teacher than the teacher that sets up so many boundaries. There is a lot of homework, and at times it can get a little rushed and confusing. I would totally take his class again though.
Great professor. Really makes himself available to help. Encourages students to text him with homework questions. Only drawback? MASSIVE amounts of homework. Seriously, it'll take up your whole weekend. Bright side is you'll be great at calculus after his class. Just don't take him unless your other classes are easy. You won't have time for them.
I ended up dropping the class due to him being overly complicated and rushing through lessons. He would do all the work and it felt like we were just watching him show off his skills. His homework was intense. I remember it being about hours and hours of copying entire chapters. Transcribing the book seems like overkill.
Noah's a great guy and truly cares about your success in math, but his classes are very hard. and hw heavy. 112 in general isnt set up for your success at all, but the amount of hw in is class is MASSIVE and uses the awful ALEKS system. He is also a very harsh grader. If you arent great at math or you work I'd steer clear of his class.
Noah is great. If you want to do more than just be lazy in his class, then he will push you and make you realize that you are more than capable to excel in the course. He will give you all of his time to make sure you succeed, but only if you ask. If I could take all the rest of my math classes with him, I would in a heartbeat. Take his class.
Tough class but he's awesome. Lot's of work but you learn a ton. I am in 253 now and feel like I have a better grasp on everything than the majority of the students in my class that didn't have him. If you have the chance, and are going on to higher level math, take Noah. Get ready to work, you get what you put in.
Noah really cares about what he teaches and it shows. Take his classes if you truly want to learn the material. Be ready to work hard and spend time outside of class. He offers help whenever possible and is very fair, however, he makes it very clear it is up to you to bring your questions and concerns to him. Best math teacher I've ever had!
This was a REALLY tough class. Lots of homework and lab papers to write, so plan your time accordingly. Your hard work will pay off. You can tell Noah is passionate about math. His teaching style didn't really fit my learning style, so there was a disconnect in most classes and I had to review lectures and problems more than others.
Noah really cares about students. He uses ALEKS for a lot of his homework which results in way more work but if you care and do it it helps you learn way better. He's really good at explaining over email if you can't make it to office hours, and he tells you your grade on each exam within 10 minutes of turning it in. Really chill, new fave.
Noah's very well prepared for classes and uses a predictable structure. I took the compressed summer term Math 111, and while it was tough, the expectations were clear. If you set aside time to do the work, you'll do well in the class. Noah thoroughly explains concepts backwards/forwards, which is especially useful if you plan to take 112, etc...
This was the second course I had taken of Noahs, and I do think hes a great instructor. Just do not miss class. Everyday you will learn a new concept and it is vital you pay attention, and make it to class. Id recommend doing all of the homework, its great practice. Noah is great.
Noah is an amazing teacher, but make sure you have a good amount of free time because you'll be loaded up with homework. He explains very thoroughly. Also make sure to schedule tutoring sessions with him if you are struggling.
This class was definitely time consuming and hard. Lecture heavy and lots of homework. It should be manageable to pass the class if you do the homework AND the test review. Test corrections were a bonus and the teacher is accessible outside of class. Be ready to learn and don't expect an easy A though.
This course is hard, but Noah makes this tolerable. I have enjoyed his lectures a lot as he makes material comprehensible. He is available outside of class if you need extra help. His expectations are clear, and exams are fair. You also get passes to use for late homework submissions.
Great prof. You wont want to miss class. Trust me.
There was more homework for this class than all my other classes combined this term. But, Noah knows his stuff inside and out, takes it seriously, and WILL ingrain some math knowledge into you. He is also just an interesting person. No easy 'A' (unless you're Tim). Manageable exams. You should take him if you actually want to learn something.
The expectations for this course are clear, but it is difficult. The work is time consuming and I dont think it had to do with Noah, but I struggled a lot grasping the material (this was an online course). I think I would do better in an in class course. Overall, there was a lot of homework.
If you understand the first couple weeks of the class with a solid math foundation, then I'm sure you'll be okay further on. IF you're ever lost in this class, then it'll come in a cost of you having to spend a HUGE amount of extra hours outside of the class to catch up, whether it be online videos (Leonard) or tutors. Noah endorses practice.
Noah Dear is a tough teacher if you don't find math easy, but he is a fun teacher and really does want you to understand what you are learning. He helps when he can within reason.
Tedious. Noah is a fast paced instructor. He goes over concepts quickly, and spends more time than needed on unnecessary concepts (things that wont be on exams). Professor Leonard will be your saving grace, and Id highly recommend purchasing a chegg subscription for help on homework.
Fast-paced, but criteria for class is crystal clear. Homework is quite difficult but if you keep up with it you should do great on every exam. Perhaps not a good fit for someone taking this course just for the credit and not for the content.. if youre a math or related major, take him! Youll develop a thorough understanding of content
Hes crystal clear about the criteria, and he does assign a lot of homework, but its necessary in order to see different examples. If you study the study guides pretty well, it makes the tests a lot easier. Lectures are great, is very passionate and a cool person to talk too. Im taking him again next term.
Straight up, Noah's the best math teacher I've ever had. If you really try, ask for help when you need it, and do your best on everything, he gives plenty of extra credit and leaves plenty of room for mistakes. He loves math and knows it better than anyone I've ever known, so he's a great teacher (as long as you try to absorb the material)!
*MTH95 I HIGHLY recommend taking Noah's class if you intend to move foreward in math as he totally sets you up for success! The class was homework heavy and fairly testing but WELL WORTH the slight challenge. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about math and it proves to be a valuable trait in an instructor. He's pretty funny too!
TRUST THE REVIEWS. I walked in the first day, and after 10 minutes panicked and tried to leave saying I'm not knowledgeable enough for the class. Long story short: He made me stay and I'm glad I did Noah's the BEST math teacher I've ever had. Takes the time to answer your questions right. He's passionate about math and can relate it to others.
Noah really knows his stuff. He can relate the coursework to how it applies in other majors such as engineering. Gives lots of homework and the course is difficult but is very understanding and down to earth. The course really helped with my differentiation and integration ability and I no longer rely on my ti89
What did I pay for? Teacher explains stuff that is irrelevant to the course. You will have to get a tutor. Do yourself a favor and take someone else unless you into self teaching.
Was never worried about asking a dumb question. Noah takes the time for any question and explains it several different ways until you understand. He takes the time to make sure everyone is on the same page. The grade is test heavy, but if you understand the math conceptually youll be fine. The material is hard and Noah does is best to explain.
whoever is thinking about taking a math class, Noah is going to be the best prof to take a class with. Highly highly highly recommended:) He respects all his students, gives them time if they needed, offers extra credit, and he is the best.
Noah is one of the best! I would really like to take a class with him again and I recommend him to everyone. Although he gives a lot of homework he explains everything and whenever you have a question he will be accessible outside the class. I enjoyed being in his class because he cares about his students a lot. He also gives extra credit.
I took Noah's MTH 111 online in the spring. It was scary going into class at first but if you stick to it you'll catch on and learn a lot. I rewatched the class sessions he recorded which helped me with written hw. The Aleks hw will help you grasp concepts better. It's a lot of work but if you make a schedule for you'll do fine. I highly recommend.
Noah is super inspirational and his enthuesiasm is contagious. Awesome teacher, nothing bad to say really. He brings out the best IMO and he let's you submit a very reasonable 2-3 late assignments.
Noah was the first professor I had at PCC and his class was very worth taking. I've always struggled with applied mathematics but Noah's lectures were easy to follow and full of helpful examples that helped me to really understand the work. The homework could be a bit much at times but it was never overwhelming.
I am not very confident at math, and knowing that MTH256 is the penultimate math class, I was nervous in the beginning. Noah Dear has been an amazing instructor with thorough lectures who has complete empathy for students. His class does have alot of homework, but really demonstrates that if you put in the work you will do well! Would take again.
Noah is easily the best math teacher I've ever had. I took him for the first time for MTH 111, then again for MTH 251 and MTH 253. All of these were incredible; he is so passionate for what he's teaching and he really cares about his students. I've seen him bend over backwards for his students all the time. He's the reason I'm majoring in math.
Noah opens online classes by shaming people for not having cameras on, because he needs reassurance more than you need privacy. Noah isnt my teacher, ALEKS is. Im paying Noah, and then paying a software company to do his job for him. Im teaching myself math.
Noah Dear places importance on actually learning the math not hard deadlines of when that's done. He's super understanding and will work with you if you need to work a week or two behind the class to make sure you're understanding the material and getting a good grade.
Noah was the first professor I had at PCC and he was awesome! He was super clear in lectures and grading criteria for homework assignments and tests. He was also super chill and understanding when things came up in my personal life and helped me work around any obstacles I faced to help me succeed in his class.
Noah has been one of the few math teachers at PCC that have really helped me understand the course content. I have learning disabilities and he was very understanding of my accommodations and worked with me to find a good medium for my learning. He had weekly quizzes that were only several questions and his exams were a great challenge. Recommend!
Worst I've ever had. He has a chip on his shoulder and an axe to grind with anyone who isn't a math "purist" and told a class full of engineering students that he hated engineering students. Tries to show how smart he is by taking shortcuts on examples and browbeating people who can't read his mind. Don't be fooled by his trick with names.
Not a fan of the teaching style. Felt kind of math elitist using difficult problems as examples to show off it seemed, making some lessons difficult and spending lots of time on just the algebra of his own example. You will get frustrated by the lack of empathy, poor audio quality, and pauses in fixing mistakes for online lessons.
Noah, was a okay professor. He would often go over the material quickly and his notes made no sense unless he had to explain it. The homework he provided was a lot he assigns weekly homework. If you get caught behind it will be a struggle for you to catch up. He did offer some support after class but he doesnt offer help on the weekends.
Noah helped me get through my most failed class, math 95. Noah also inspired me to realize that I am actually really good at math, one of his top students. I am actually considering taking my math classes for my bachelors at pcc because Noah is better than any university instructor could be. I am a geology major going to U of O but Noah ROCKS.
He's very particular about the way he likes things done, but he is also very clear and communicative about it so it's not like it's difficult to know what he's looking for. He's incredibly passionate about his work (which you can see by all his awesome tattoos!) and he will really take the time to help you as much as you need.
I took his class online and he does not give good feedback. I find his teaching to be extremely lazy and none of his notes make sense unless he explains them out. We had weekly homework online and on paper, doubling our workload. I ended up learning what I needed to from the digital material and google. He seems like a nice guy, not a good teacher.
Noah made class loads of fun. Whenever he noticed the class seemed tired, he would take a few minutes to talk to us to wake us up. He didn't just give us formulas to use, but also explained how they worked to help us understand. He encouraged us to ask him questions and was very welcoming.
You won't have a weekend, you will learn the material.
He's an awesome professor! Very knowledgeable and approachable. Lenient on deadlines IF you could provide a reason. Lectures consisted of a work sheet he gave us each day that we would work through together. Tests were easy compared to the worksheets and reviews. Reach out to him if you need help. He wants to see his students succeed!
Noah does a great job explaining difficult concepts. He puts a lot of thought into choosing examples that will help one understand the material. When providing feedback he takes the time to find out where you're getting stuck and helps guide you to the solution instead of just giving you the answer. He made the process of learning maths enjoyable.
Noah was a fantastic teacher! His lectures and teaching style was very understandable and he made sure to answer everyone's questions. He is also very understanding and caring of his students, and was very accessible during office hours and over email. The exams were slightly difficult, but not unmanageable. Definitely take his class!
Mr.Dear has been an exceptional math teacher. My time in his class was the most confident I have ever been in my math skills. Mr.Dear has an incredible and engaging teaching style that helped me iron out the parts of math that I have always struggled with. If I could have him for every math class I would. 10/10
After a few classes he was very easy to approach even as someone with anxiety and very down to earth. Ask him about his math tattoo and he's a absolute chatterbox! Make sure to pick a good spot where you sitbecause the people you sit with you'll primary work with every class including a presentation at the end of the term.
He didn't lecture at all, it was all group work during class time. I didn't like him or his class because he would shame students for being late even a few minutes, this was super disruptive and annoying. He only stopped after he publicly shamed a student during class and made them cry. All videos/lectures/materials were from another professor.
Professor Dear's class had a unique approach - mainly group work. While attendance was mandatory, he was approachable. Using unstuck study and the provided textbook helped me prepare well. Overall, an engaging class with a fair grading system.
There a clear guideline on what needed to be done. Do the in-class assignment, the online homework, and pay attention in class. It honestly so hard to fail, when Noah provides multiple options for success.
Noah was one of the best math instructors I've had, he was very thorough in his explanations, he was very thoughtful with his language and his responses, and he was very kind and welcoming to every student. He also had everyone stand up halfway through each class to stretch in order to help prevent lower-back pain, and get our blood flowing again.
Noah is a great instructor. He is very thorough and attentive to the students needs. He tries to make sure everyone is following during lecture and will stop to clarify anything if needed. Class is very organized and consistent workload with clear and fair grading criteria. He encourages people to work together, and has a stretch break every class.
He's a nice guy but that's about it. He is very high strung. It is very much a "my way or the highway" environment. You are required to take notes EXACTLY how he presents them. He proclaims he is "not a laid back" professor", which is a strange thing to take pride in. I thought he was going to have an aneurysm when someone showed up late.
Noah is a bit of a stickler, and this can put many people off at first. But the more you actually get to know and learn under Noah the more you appreciate it. If you want to learn math Noah is the teacher. But if you're just trying to do as little math as possible and sneak through your required math credits I would not recommend Noah.
I would drive from SE 122nd to the Rock Creek campus, before taking a class with Noah. He's a decent guy, but horrible instructor. Doesn't grade fair, no partial points for problems with incorrect answers even though you've shown all your work. The 12 page exam reviews are so time consuming! Seriously look for another class!
Noah is hands down the best teacher I've ever had. He has a very well curated structure for his course that makes math a digestible language, and he takes the initiative to ensure his students are being as successful as possible. He goes the extra mile for every one of his students, and seems excited to be teaching math every single day.
He's good trust me bro
Noah was great! I see some reviews here emphasizing that he is particular in how he wants you to complete problems, and while I don't disagree, he is very open to you questioning his reasoning. I believe any strictness with his approach is to better improve your mathematical abilities, prepare you for future classes and deepen your understanding.
Noah's lectures were clear and well executed with printable lecture note outlines for students to fill in, and he was receptive to student questions during class and office hours. Expect to print out the lecture and lab papers weekly and work on a group lab every class period. I would recommend Noah Dear.
He is an amazing person who genuinely cares about you and your education let alone about the math itself, if is truly inspiring and gave me a newfound motivation to learn and inspired me to pursue my dreams.
Noah is one of, if not the best, instructors I've had for a math class. He brings down the topic from a more complex understanding to a lower level, which allows for a wider class understanding. He also saves students money by not requiring a Textbook or paying for an online hw platform (he uses myopenmath for 112).
Overall really enjoyed taking Noah's class. I am categorically bad at math, but I have done well with Noah's instruction and lots of studying.
His lectures could be very in depth though sometimes he would make the mistake of assuming vital knowledge was intrinsic and therefore went without expressing it, which made some things hard to navigate. Sometimes he's charismatic, which made class fun. Most days he's seemingly indifferent and it definitely affected the experience.
Noah is really easy going and has a welcome environment, get ready to print out homework weekly and receive an extraordinary feedback on each group lab. Attendance helps a lot try not to miss any days, midterm is great, finals can be nerve wrecking.
Noah is definitely the best math teacher, and one of the best all around teachers I've ever had. Course expectations are made clear, his communication is excellent, and he genuinely cares about student success. He makes an effort to be engaging in the class and does his best to promote student engagement. Also, one of the nicest humans ever.
During lectures, he teaches and explains materials really well. Works with the class and then gives time for students to work on hw in class and after class. Highly recommend working in groups as well. Each class is a new topic, so attendance is important. Overall great class as long as you keep up with the assignments.
Noah expects you to attend and do the work. He makes his expectations clear and is supportive and good at explaining things (both in lectures and one on one).
I really liked Noah. He had clear communication and remained very fair. He is not as lenient as others, but I think that's necessary with such a challenging subject. He can be a little condescending at times and gets a bit frustrated when you don't seem to be paying attention, but he is overall very patient.
NOAH IS THE BEST! Truly cares for the success of every student in his class. Explains every concept and makes sense of it in seconds. Clear and fair grading criteria/policies and workload (sometimes challenging, but once you look back at it everything will make sense and click with you). Half the class is lectures, half is group work.
Noah is awesome. This is the kind of math professor I always wanted and he definitely pushed me to be my best throughout the semester. Fantastic mathematical knowledge and communication skills and I really, truly loved his class.
112 with him was so great, I had to come back for more. 2 group labs + 2 online homework modules each week, very understanding as long as you take the time to speak with him. Also pretty "hip" and cracks jokes where he can. Great dude in and out of the classroom.
I took Noah for Pre-Calculus (MTH 112) and again for this course (MTH 251). A lot of content gets covered in each lecture, so it's important to attend every one. There are also opportunities for bonus points if you study with folks outside of class. He is very patient and makes sure you understand concepts. I would take him again!
Noah was and is a very fair grader; he's particular about most things, such as your methods and organization when solving and writing out problems. Although that might be the case, he gives very good and concise feedback and is highly responsive when it comes to correcting mistakes.
Grading policy is quite lenient, just notes, homework, and group work, alongside a midterm and final exam. Appreciated that there weren't constant quizzes. Show up on time as attendance is another big thing, for participation points and he seems to personally take note of it. Lastly, he tends to expect you to do things his way fyi, so be flexible.
I have Autism, so my review is coming from someone bad at reaching out. I had a hard time with the class. Repetition was nonexistent until exam reviews, by which point I would have forgotten what I learned. The instructor was intense, and I had a hard time following the material, but it could have just been the difficulty of the material itself.
