Prof. Boyle is very intellegent and nice, but somewhat disorganized, which made the class a little less interesting than expected. Tuesday's with Morrie is now one of my favorite books, thanks to him. A GVSU grad.

He is very interesting, and makes class enjoyable, even if you are not the 'participate in class discussions type'. I respect the fact that he does give a grade based on whether or not you agree with him. He did cancel class a lot, but i can understand.

I love Noel.He is by far my favorite teacher and I have the most massive crush on him.Beyond all that,I have really gotten a lot out of his class and I like the format.I am glad my first philosophy class was taught by someone so hot,I mean knowledgeable.

Noel is my favorite professor so far. The papers are confusing at first, but you get a chance to rewrite them. He is fair and helpful. I know less now than I did when I started~Thanks Noel

This was the best class and best professor that I have ever had in school. Have to admitt that I didn't have a crush on him..I am a guy though..But really everyone should take his class because it's not that hard and he makes you think so much about life.

If you want to get an A, you pretty much have to rewrite all your papers. Personally I'm not a fan of philosophy so I didn't enjoy the class, but professor did make everything very easy to understand.

Personally, I didn't like this teacher. Seems very anti-religion. Twists religious sayings to make them fit his disdain for religion.

This professor was great. Very easy-going. I, personally, did not have to rewrite any of my papers to pass the class. He conveys his views somewhat bluntly, but I would harldy say that he does it in a harsh anti-religious way. Great class.

Very fun, only teaches this class during spr/sum but made the material very easy to compute. He used examples that any college student would be interested in-beer, allendale bars, ladies of the night, etc :)

Personally, I did not like this professor. He wasn't very difficult in class, but he doesn't really some to care about his students. I emailed him MANY times, and he does not respond. He is unorganized, and if you ever want to know what your grade is he WILL NOT tell you (because he doesn't know)

This Prof is alot of fun. Althogh entertaining, I found him to thoroughly enjoy teaching and I learned alot. This class was not a waste of time. I took it as a gen ed and got a lot more than I had expected. I recommend this prof.

Overall not a very difficult class, although he is very unorganized and he doesn't seem to have a consistent way of grading papers. The more you think like him the better grade you will get.

Class was taught looking only at one persons view point, so you don't really get many differing ideas. Class over all was pretty easy...a lot of essays/papers, but no tests...only reading quizes.

Noel doesnt mind if you dont agree with his opinions...infact our entire class despised plato and much of class discussion was spent bashing his arguments and beliefs!Can be a tough grader but if you are prepared to make a clear argument for your beliefs you are golden.BS will fail every time

Awesome prof, very funny. Keeps you interested. Lectures are great and gets the students involved. Really just wants to talk about the subject. No tests, only spontanious quizes on reading homework. But if you show up you automatically get points. easy A.

My favorite Prof by far! i love this guy! He is very intrested in what he teaches and it shows. A really funny guy that keeps you awake in class. the readings suck but he does a great job of explaining them after. do the reading and you will do fine. Cant stress enough how cool he is

Good guy. Wants to help and see students do well. Good intro course and gen ed. Funny, too. Only a 2-3 short papers and one long one, very easy. Just do the readings, which are never hard or long, just need to be done.

he's an awesome prof; really funny, cool and nice. best of all: he's very passionate about philosophy and it shows. wish i had more profs like him. he graded a little harsh (IMO) on some of my papers, but i ended up with an A anyway. sweet class. i definitely recommend him.

Very approachable, nice and friendly. He also makes a subject matter that could be very dry very interesting. Definitely a good teacher to get. He also doesn't at all insist on attendance or even turning papers in by their assigned date as long as you're honest by why you didn't (even being hungover will suffice) Great guy and smart.

Noel is insanely smart. Will teach you to write a strong paper with valid arguments. Keeps class interesting and fun. Allows for open discussion and sometimes debates. Fun guy to talk to and is very easy to get along with. Highly recommended. Great class!

Prof. Boyle is a wonderful teacher. He is very helpful during office hours, and energetic in class. His passion for philosophy makes it much easier to digest. He is also defiantly one of the most staggering intellects at GV!

He's a very nice guy, but the class was not what I expected. We are reading Plato and the material is hard to follow and understand. His lectures really make you think about deep philosophical questions..which I hate, so I didn't enjoy the class at all. He's a cool guy though.

Noel is the smartest person I have ever talked to. He really knows his stuff and makes class interesting. He's not afraid to get off topic, but somehow always makes it relavent. I would recommend him to anyone. The response papers aren't that bad, just make sure and pay attention to what is said in class and take all the notes he writes down!

Noel knows how to talk to students to help you understand wtf Plato was talking about. Make sure you do the reading assignments, there are reading quizes. 400 word essays are tricky, but you can rewrite. Take notes in class, and participate, he likes to get into discussions. You don't need the argument book, but you NEED plato/last of the wine. =]

Nice guy. Very entertaining and funny. Take him if you can. Do the reading and speak up in class. Essays aren't too bad, just pick a good topic and you can always ask him for help.

Very unhelpful and lazy. If you are used to writing normal papers this class will mess you up. His guidelines for grading are a little cloudy and I never really knew what was going on. I went to almost every class but I am still lost. Probly more the subject than the prof, but I did NOT enjoy the class

Extremely passionate about philosophy. The discussions are interesting for the most part and he is very open and interested in students' opinions and thoughts. A little tough on the 400 word essays. Doesn't really take attendance, but class discussions show up on the exam. Overall, I would recommend him.
