Awesome guy/plenty of papers that are fun to write, no tests. Very interesting!
Interesting class. The papers make you think, but are not extremely difficult.
Great guy. Fun, entertaining. All papers, no tests. I highly recommend him.

Relates to students really well! Really nice guy and he makes class enjoyable.

OK guy, but that doesn't make the material interesting. Very hard grader.
Class content was difficult, but he explains it well, great prof.

One of my best ever profs. You cant help but have a lot of respect for the guy
made phi clear to me. good guy, understands if you have problems, with asingment
easy class, fun guy, good discussions
great discussions, if you want good grades on papers, they better agree w/ him
Very good prof. Made Philosphy fun. If go in LOTS of detail on papers do good
i actually learned more i this class than i have in any other- not hard at all

So open to other's opinions and accepting, Makes difficult text understandable
Very Helpful and lenient. Material was hard to understand before explanation.
very respectable. doesn't grade based on his own opinion.
MUST HAVE. Most fascinating and thought provoking teacher you will ever have.
Makes text interesting, just make sure you read it and participate in class.
He was an excellent professoer. Alot of reading is involved as well as writing papers. You learn alot about the ancient philosophy. I highly recommend this class!
He not only smart and funny but deep and very insightful. One of those guys you hope you meet someday; very intriging person
Prof. Boyle is very intellegent and nice, but somewhat disorganized, which made the class a little less interesting than expected. Tuesday's with Morrie is now one of my favorite books, thanks to him. A GVSU grad.
He is very interesting, and makes class enjoyable, even if you are not the 'participate in class discussions type'. I respect the fact that he does give a grade based on whether or not you agree with him. He did cancel class a lot, but i can understand.
Excellent teacher who understands that stuff does happen in your life other than just school and is very good at explaining things
Very nice guy! Very understanding that things do come up in your life. Don't skip a lot though because he does give unannounced quizzes.
He is a very nice teacher, makes things very easy for you, even when you don't understand them. If you need to take Phl 101 take him and it will be easy for you. You just can't fell this class..
papers can be tricky but if you just agree with him on topics you'll be ok; very nice guy
I love Noel.He is by far my favorite teacher and I have the most massive crush on him.Beyond all that,I have really gotten a lot out of his class and I like the format.I am glad my first philosophy class was taught by someone so hot,I mean knowledgeable.
I am glad to know that I am not the only one with a huge crush on Noel. He is open minded, funny, and oh so intelligent!
Noel is my favorite professor so far. The papers are confusing at first, but you get a chance to rewrite them. He is fair and helpful. I know less now than I did when I started~Thanks Noel
This was the best class and best professor that I have ever had in school. Have to admitt that I didn't have a crush on him..I am a guy though..But really everyone should take his class because it's not that hard and he makes you think so much about life.
If you want to get an A, you pretty much have to rewrite all your papers. Personally I'm not a fan of philosophy so I didn't enjoy the class, but professor did make everything very easy to understand.
Personally, I didn't like this teacher. Seems very anti-religion. Twists religious sayings to make them fit his disdain for religion.
This professor was great. Very easy-going. I, personally, did not have to rewrite any of my papers to pass the class. He conveys his views somewhat bluntly, but I would harldy say that he does it in a harsh anti-religious way. Great class.
Very fun, only teaches this class during spr/sum but made the material very easy to compute. He used examples that any college student would be interested in-beer, allendale bars, ladies of the night, etc :)
Personally, I did not like this professor. He wasn't very difficult in class, but he doesn't really some to care about his students. I emailed him MANY times, and he does not respond. He is unorganized, and if you ever want to know what your grade is he WILL NOT tell you (because he doesn't know)
great teacher, makes ya think.. and hes fun and makes comeing to class worth it. even though we did read plato... all in all... get him if u have the chance
He talked about chairs....what? nice guy, but very confusing and biased grader. you better learn to think like he does...or get out! PRONTO!!
This Prof is alot of fun. Althogh entertaining, I found him to thoroughly enjoy teaching and I learned alot. This class was not a waste of time. I took it as a gen ed and got a lot more than I had expected. I recommend this prof.
Overall not a very difficult class, although he is very unorganized and he doesn't seem to have a consistent way of grading papers. The more you think like him the better grade you will get.
the class is very easy if you do the reading. i looked forward to going to class. he made philosophy fun.
Class was taught looking only at one persons view point, so you don't really get many differing ideas. Class over all was pretty easy...a lot of essays/papers, but no tests...only reading quizes.
Noel doesnt mind if you dont agree with his opinions...infact our entire class despised plato and much of class discussion was spent bashing his arguments and beliefs! Can be a tough grader but if you are prepared to make a clear argument for your beliefs you are golden.BS will fail every time
Awesome prof, very funny. Keeps you interested. Lectures are great and gets the students involved. Really just wants to talk about the subject. No tests, only spontanious quizes on reading homework. But if you show up you automatically get points. easy A.
I thought Noel did an excellent job with this class. He explained everything clearly and was very helpful. He is a really sweet, nice guy. He is also very attractive. Everything about him is amazing.
Very good teacher. Fun and has good ways to keep you thinking and keep you interested!
I like this guy. Go you!
i cannot stress this enough....if you take phi 102...take it with this professor. hes phenominal. my favorite prof so far. not hard on the eyes either.
My favorite Prof by far! i love this guy! He is very intrested in what he teaches and it shows. A really funny guy that keeps you awake in class. the readings suck but he does a great job of explaining them after. do the reading and you will do fine. Cant stress enough how cool he is
Good guy. Wants to help and see students do well. Good intro course and gen ed. Funny, too. Only a 2-3 short papers and one long one, very easy. Just do the readings, which are never hard or long, just need to be done.
he's an awesome prof; really funny, cool and nice. best of all: he's very passionate about philosophy and it shows. wish i had more profs like him. he graded a little harsh (IMO) on some of my papers, but i ended up with an A anyway. sweet class. i definitely recommend him.
asthetically dorky and by far the greatest prof i've had yet!! i know this'll sound kind of sappy, but because of his class, i now want to be more active instead of letting life pass me by. i now know the importance behind gen ed requirements, not to mention philosophy itself.
Very approachable, nice and friendly. He also makes a subject matter that could be very dry very interesting. Definitely a good teacher to get. He also doesn't at all insist on attendance or even turning papers in by their assigned date as long as you're honest by why you didn't (even being hungover will suffice) Great guy and smart.
Great Class very well taught and a very good professor. Would take again if I needed to.
Noel is insanely smart. Will teach you to write a strong paper with valid arguments. Keeps class interesting and fun. Allows for open discussion and sometimes debates. Fun guy to talk to and is very easy to get along with. Highly recommended. Great class!
Awesome guy, really gets into the discussions, and doesn't try to lecture/sound like a textbook. Very fun to talk to.
Very passionate about his work which makes it easier to learn. Spends time with students if they have questions and if I could give him 5 peppers I would, but am only allowed one!
Prof. Boyle is a wonderful teacher. He is very helpful during office hours, and energetic in class. His passion for philosophy makes it much easier to digest. He is also defiantly one of the most staggering intellects at GV!
Great guy, passionate about the readings. He really knows what he is talking about. The response papers are tricky but if you put your all in to it you will not be dissapointed.
He's a very nice guy, but the class was not what I expected. We are reading Plato and the material is hard to follow and understand. His lectures really make you think about deep philosophical questions..which I hate, so I didn't enjoy the class at all. He's a cool guy though.
Noel is the smartest person I have ever talked to. He really knows his stuff and makes class interesting. He's not afraid to get off topic, but somehow always makes it relavent. I would recommend him to anyone. The response papers aren't that bad, just make sure and pay attention to what is said in class and take all the notes he writes down!
Noel knows how to talk to students to help you understand wtf Plato was talking about. Make sure you do the reading assignments, there are reading quizes. 400 word essays are tricky, but you can rewrite. Take notes in class, and participate, he likes to get into discussions. You don't need the argument book, but you NEED plato/last of the wine. =]
Great teacher, laid back, great sense of humor, knows his stuff and has a passion for it.
Nice guy. Very entertaining and funny. Take him if you can. Do the reading and speak up in class. Essays aren't too bad, just pick a good topic and you can always ask him for help.
Very unhelpful and lazy. If you are used to writing normal papers this class will mess you up. His guidelines for grading are a little cloudy and I never really knew what was going on. I went to almost every class but I am still lost. Probly more the subject than the prof, but I did NOT enjoy the class
He looks like a cave man. And he is a very good guy. Very fun professor.
Extremely passionate about philosophy. The discussions are interesting for the most part and he is very open and interested in students' opinions and thoughts. A little tough on the 400 word essays. Doesn't really take attendance, but class discussions show up on the exam. Overall, I would recommend him.
Great guy. He is really funny and grade pretty easy. He is really interesting.
Gone, but too bad.
