Great Teacher Highly recommend just make sure you keep up with dow journal and go to class to get the extra credit
Great guy! Highly recommend him and his class. He is very helpful and easy. He takes random attendance and factors it into your grade.
Completely useless to go to class. Says he will curve your grade at the end of the semester if you need the points, but only does it for a select number of students. Get the book and study the quizzes online (he doesn't tell you about them at all). It's where most of the test questions come from. Waste of time.
Easy class! Easy A! Going to class only lets him get to know your face which may or may not help you at the end of the semester. He gives extra credit which can bring your grade up 2 letter grades if you go to class. Go online to get online tests and those are basically his tests with different wording. Helpful class and I enjoyed it.
He seems a bit scary at first, but is actually very funny and has a few life lessons for you. Very good class!
I absolutely love this guy!! He's an awesome teacher. All of his powerpoints are posted and all you have to do is study those and you are golden. I didn't purchase the book and I had no problems. He gives you real life stories that are relevant and a few lessons that you will use in life! Take him if you can! You won't be sorry!
Such a good class! Such a good teacher. Good man, with a good heart. Go to class just to listen to his stories. Knows what he is talking about.
Easy A. He is not very nice though. I feel like he really is mean for no reason. he needs to loosen up a little. the class is easy enough to still take him.
"Have your butt in your seat for class," as Mr. Morris would say, and you'll have an easy A! He gives 3-5 pts. out per day, and they eventually add up to over 100 pts. so after that it's bonus! Study his powerpoints and you'll have NO problems with the tests. He is a great teacher and levels with you on real life topics. Best professor so far!
Don't bother buying the book, just go to class for the attendance points. Eventually they become bonus points and he's not bad to listen to either, even at 7:30 in the morning. He's got great stories you can relate to.
I went into this class expecting an easy A, but the tests are actually pretty difficult! Professor can be kind of intimidating at first, but is actually a great guy with a lot of stories and examples that make the class interesting. Do not skip one class though or you'll miss an opportunity for extra points and test review questions.
Mr. Morris' Money & Credit class is enjoyable and you'll learn stuff that you can use outside of the classroom in the real world. Every day he gives out an easy end-of-class quiz and he has 3 tests and a spending spreadsheet assignment due at the conclusion of the course (easy). Oh and you don't need to buy the book either.
Very good professor. Didn't use the book at all. Everything is on the slides. Go to class for extra credit. Great professor with great heart. He's super nice and knows what he's talking about.
No text book used and you don't need to take notes. Just study the slides and you'll make an A on the tests. He does clicker points so be sure to attend and read ahead in the slides to get the easy clicker points.
Very interesting class. Will be helpful in the future. He is very nice and smart.
This is the second class I've had with him and his lectures are amazing. He was the one that made me decide to go into Finance. He explains everything clearly and doesn't try to trick you. The clicker questions are easy and the tests are right off the powerpoints. You'll pass without the book, but with it you should make an A.
Great professor, material is solid and its not hard to get a good grade in the class. my only qualm being that he is a blueblood republican and tries to underhandedly influence politics in his class lectures. He knows insurance pretty well... but politics not so much. And i truly think this is an abuse of power.
Attendance is not mandatory but he does give clicker points. Tests are not hard if you show up to every class. He is always willing to help students who have trouble understanding the material.
4 tests, clicker questions, and 1 semester long daily project. If you memorize the terms he highlights in his powerpoint you will get 95%+ every single exam, no need to pay attention in class or take notes ever. The daily semester project is easy, write 5-6 sentences about how the Dow Jones did for the day (Google each night) Take this class!
Very smart man. He knows his finances.
Tests are unlike anything learned in class. Very tough grader. Attendance not mandatory but he gives clicker questions and calls you out if you skip class.
Noel gives 4 tests that are fairly straightforward. Attendance technically isn't necessary but he gives daily clicker quizzes for 100 points. He does way more than 100 though and then it just becomes extra credit. He is very nice and tries to make the material as interesting as he possibly can. He likes to joke around and makes the class enjoyable!
I'm not a morning person, but took his 9:40 class. He did take attendance and it counted towards our grade. He told us it would only be worth 100 points, but ended up being worth much more, which totally screwed my grade. He never gave a semester calendar and assignments were discussed in class, so if you miss you have to email classmates.
Great professor. Just show up to class and pay attention and you will not have any problem passing this class. The class is simple and basic but he makes it entertaining. Take him if at all possible, like move your schedule around. You will not be disappointed.
Good teacher. Go to class, and you will get tons of extra credit. If you skip 3-5 days of class you will still get an A. Not a hard class at all. He teacher it well and makes it interesting.
Ayye it's lit!! Professor Morris is one of the funniest professors I've had at UofA. Although his class is very easy, you do have to attend to get the clicker points. He reads off the power points, but makes lectures funny and engaging. His tests are very easy as well, just look over the PowerPoint slides and you should make an A without a doubt.
I loved Mr. Morris! He is so funny that taking Finance at 8:30AM was cool. He has a ton of professional experience and often relates material back to his own experiences. The class was good, I learned a lot more than I had expected and now feel confident navigating my own finances, taxes and insurance. Clickers are important, so go to class!!
I took this class because I needed more electives and it sounded really easy. Maybe because I didn't find the material very interesting or because I don't have any background in finance, it was much harder than I imagined. Definitely go to class for clicker points. He moves quickly through the material so I suggest getting the book.
Morris knows his stuff and you'll learn a lot if you actually just listen to the stories he tells and how he explains concepts. I didn't need the textbook, but it wouldn't hurt if you got it anyways. Will need a clicker. SHOW UP TO CLASS! Makes learning the material a lot easier and you'll do better on the tests.
Take. This. Class. Noel is a good man who gives a lot of life lessons throughout the semester that you'll take with you after college. Not to mention, if you show up every day you get a crap ton of extra credit points from the clicker quizzes.
Don't think twice about it, take professor Morris. He really cares about his students no matter how hard he tries to make you think he is mean. He really left me with some valuable information and I would love to take him again.
Lectures are good! He can come across as cranky but I think it is just his teaching style to keep people engaged. If you actually listen to what he is saying it is really valuable information. Beware of the exams most of the material is from the book. They are somewhat difficult and easy to get a B- / C on if you don't prepare properly.
This teacher is right out of an inspirational teacher movie. This class is a very good class to take, no matter the major, and the best teacher for it. Attendance is with clicker points, and he gives well over the cap, so the rest are bonus points. The tests are straightforward and situational. He gives you every opportunity to get an A. Take Him.
There are not enough good things to be said about Morris. His lectures mirror the test and quiz material, he is engaged in teaching the class, actively looks out for the betterment of his students. Truly a teacher that others should model themselves after. Class is about 10 quizzes and three test with daily clicker quizzes. Take this man's class.
Noel is a good guy and tries to truly teach you how to be successful with your finances in the future. He also makes his class easy to get an A in as long as you show up, turn in everything on time, and somewhat study for the tests.
Just a great teacher honestly. Made the class very interesting and is a super nice guy.
Professor Morris gives students the opportunity to go into the final padded with extra point- that's if you're willing to go to class. He has clicker points every day and you only have to have 100 and any over that is extra bonus points (you can get plenty over). Tests are straight from the powerpoint, there is just a lot of material. Had 1 project
He is a very nice guy and a lot of the material is pretty straight foward. It is taken from the slides but he adds a little twist to it. Go to class, take the quizzes and just pass the test. Very doable class with Mr. Morris!
Look, heres an example of.. you go to class. You pass. You get points when youre there and the tests, unless youre out of your mind are easy. Never opened a book just read his freaking power points. i personally made a quizlet based off the power points. studied this and this alone. "studied" used loosely and never made less than a 92 on his tests.
Took him for an intercession and absolutely loved him. We took four test and had one project, easy A if you pay attention and go to class! He gives a lot of extra credit points!
GREAT PROFESSOR! Teaches you so much valuable information about finances, insurance, stock, etc. This is a course that should be required for all college students to take. Clicker points every day but if you miss a few days, no big deal because he ends up giving you a ton of bonus! One of my favorite teachers I have taken at the U of A!
I took this class with knowing nothing about finance and if you don't understand some concepts this class is hard. The tests are hard at least. However, if you go to his class he gives plenty of opportunities to get clicker points. One big assignment that you have to do all semester. I didn't get his textbook, I just used his powerpoints.
Dr. Morris is the best! He is very wise and his lectures are always interesting. I had to use the textbook to clarify some topics, however if you go to class and put forth a little effort, its an easy A. He loves his community and his family and wants all of his students to learn and become better people. Definitely take his class!
Great professor. Really cares about the students. This class was the most beneficial and straightforward class I have ever taken. Lots of clicker points. If you show up everyday and read ahead you will get all the clicker points which make bonus points at the end of the semester. I had about 50 bonus clicker points.
Professor Morris is the best, go to class, take advantage of all the useful information he shares, and hang in there till the end and he'll give lots of extra credit. By far my favorite professor at the university.
The most I've been impacted in college was from Morris' class.
Heard great things from everyone, took online during a 5 week course. Definitely a full semester class, DEFINITELY an on campus class. The first exam covered 6 chapters of the book with no lectures or assignments from the professor, ALL reading.
Out of all the courses I have taken in college, Personal Financial Management with Mr. Morris has been the most impactful and beneficial course for my development as a potential businessman and family man. Very clear lectures and provides practical life application of material. Tests are very fair. He is the clear choice for any student considering
Great class that everyone should take before graduating. Morris is a great guy. Easy A if you go to class and get the clicker points.
I took this class online to get my hours for the semester, and I don't know too much about finance. He is an easy grader with the assignments every week, and his quizzes allow you to check your answers. The tests are what's more challenging. He never gave the online class much to go on for studying, maybe go see him in person.
Morris is one of the best professors I have had at UARK. He genuinely cares about the success of his students and offers real-life knowledge and experience that can't be learned in a textbook. He's funny too! Go to class, get the clicker points and do well on the tests and you will get a good grade! 1 semester project that's easy. Just do the work.
I took this class based on reviews for an elective class. I have taken 2 finance classes in high school and still struggled - I am not a business or finance major (you probably need to be for this class). He also does not give you a semester outline so he tells you about tests the week of.
I expected it to be easy and it was but he teaches out dated information. He a Reagan lover and makes it known. He is an outdated relic of the finance industry. What could be a class that is used to educate and inform others about basic finance instead felt like a lecture from your out of touch grandpa.
Noel seems like a knowledgeable person about finance, but he acts in an entitled manner. If you don't understand the material after it was taught, he is reluctant to try and help you understand it. I emailed him multiple times about questions I had over testable material and got no response. If you miss instructions he sends out, oops you messed up
Noel Morris made FINN1003 way harder than it needed to be. I went into it thinking it would be an easy A but I had to work for it. Doesn't allow phones in class. He is very knowledgeable about finance, but doesn't really care to help the class understand it. Would find another elective to take if possible. Not an enjoyable class.
Mr. Morris is teaching what is most likely the most practical, useful class on campus. His class is super easy, but also fun and he uses stories to keep you engaged. The only thing I dont like is the clicker. I recommend everyone to take his class.
He is a great teacher in class, but I agree with one of his reviews above commenting on how entitled he acts. He for sure knows his stuff and is passionate on the topic, but doesn't seem to understand how others... don't understand. I think he has trouble re-stating a topic in a different way so that others can understand which is frustrating.
Professor Morris is a nice enough guy who seems to care about his students. However he gives very uncertain deadlines on projects and will refuse to help out. I would not recommend taking him for any class
Professor Morris powerpoints are super crowded and impossible to take notes over. His exams are unclear and are not similar to his slides or the cengage test. If you do the quizzes and memorize them youll get a C average on exams. This is an easy B class, but if you want an A you need to put a little more effort.
not clear, study guides not accurate, this class has the potential to be so useful but he is the worst, especially online
There was so much extra work in this class that just comes off as annoying. Like the Dow Journals we have to write every single day (not just the days we have class) and the Packback posts every week. Its a class that has a lot of potential, but boy this class was not the just show up and get an A class like I thought it would be. Hes a good guy.
I've had professor Morris for both FINN 1003 & FINN 3003. He's an awesome professor who teaches you applicable financial skills you can use for the rest of your life. Gives extra credit & if you participate in class he will try and help you at the end of the semester if you're just shy of a letter grade. Material for both classes was fairly easy.
If your advisor tells you this class is an easy A, its not. The Dow Journals are so annoying and you have to do them every day, even on days you don't have class. The tests are hard to study for because his power points don't make sense which makes it hard to take notes in class. The quizzes are extremely difficult and don't go with the tests
Hes a great professor but there is so much work that you have to do for this class. The Dow Journal, its an everyday thing and if you procrastinate you will suffer. I waited till the last minute and only missed a few days and it was painful catching up. Going to class is a necessity the content makes more sense and hes got good stories.
Professor Morris knows his stuff and will help you in any way he can. He also responds to emails really fast! Yes, the Dow journals suck, but if you keep up with them every day (or even doing all five of them once a week), you'll be fine. He also grades them really easily! Look at the PowerPoints to study for his exams!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He is rude when it comes to asking for help. He does clicker questions everyday, lots of hw and quizzes, there are 4 test total that are very hard and impossible to study for because the quizzes don't match up with the tests and his power points make no sense, and theres also a journal that he gives no instruction on.
Dr. Morris is a great professor! He is kind of intimidating at first, but once you get to know him, you see he cares about his students. His lectures get boring but he keeps you interested with good stories and funny slides. You get bonus/attendance points from the clicker. Just do your assignments on time and the way he asks. You'll be good!
Finn 1003 with professor Morris is my favorite class taken thus far. Mr. Morris is sort of intimidating at first. But once you have a few classes with him, you realize he is very wise and cares for his students. There are not many assignments that go into your grade so make sure you study for the exams. There's also clicker questions every class.
Absolutely awful, do not take this class if you can help it. There are no due dates for anything, no study guides for exams, no instructions or schedules for the class. Homeworks had nothing to do with the lectures. Dow journal project had to be done every single day including non-class days. Rude to students and wouldn't help.
Mr. Morris by far the least helpful prof I've had. His exams have no study guide so there's no way to know what to expect beforehand. I would not recommend taking this course if you don't have any prior finance knowledge, even though the course doesn't require and prereqs. Has ZERO email etiquette and treats students poorly.
Professor Morris is a older man who is passionate and knowledgeable about all things revolving around finance. I would highly suggest taking this class because it provides you with information that you will 100% use in your future. Attendance is mandatory if you wish to get an A in the class. The homework and quizzes are super easy as well!
Professor Morris is such a good professor, by far the most valuable information I've learned in college. He answered so many financial questions I had, helped me create a personal budget, helped me with investments/credit/loans, etc. If you want to be financially successful, definitley take his class.
Morris is by far the best and wisest professor I have ever had at this school and I am a senior. This can be a boring subject but he kept the lectures interesting with jokes and personal stories. He does a great job at relating the material to real life situations. He can be a bit hard, but its for good reason. He gives plenty of extra credit, too.
I'm not a finance major and just took this class as a random business elective. Mr. Morris has made this my favorite class to go to & it is definitely the most useful class iv ever taken. He has lots of financial experience, and is very educated on the topics we learn/ explains them as more than just definitions. Wish he could teach all my classes.
Mr. Morris is awesome. He's clearly very knowledgeable about what he's teaching and cares a lot about making it easy to understand. Put in the smallest bit of effort and SHOW UP TO CLASS and you'll come up with an A no problem.
Great guy and professor. Only thing is clicker points and semester project is a huge deal. Other than that good class to take and learn from.
Professor Morris is a great guy, but I would not take his class again. I came out with an A but it was not without tears. I am the least financially minded person so nothing ever made sense and he was no help. You HAVE to come to class because clicker questions are worth as much as a test grade and are questions you have to know the answer to.
Professor Morris was one of the best professors I have had at UARK. His class was very entertaining and taught me valuable lessons that I will need in my future career. This class is not very difficult if you attend lectures and pay attention to the clickers. Take professor Morris' class.
This professor was amazing! Mr. Morris is an incredible professor who mixes humor and personal experiences into his lectures, and he will always meet you halfway if you put the effort into the class. If you don't try, you won't do well, simple as that.
Professor Morris is a great professor who teaches you life lessons that you will need. His class can be hard if you don't come to class, but if you give effort you will come out with an A. Class is mandatory.
Professor Morris is one of my favorite teachers here at Arkansas. I had him for an intersession class and he made it as enjoyable as he could given the work load. He really cares about his students and is so wise. He loves to share lots of advice and I have a lot of respect for him because of that.
He likes to talk about his personal business experiences A LOT which is great I guess, but then he would get mad at the class wondering why we needed a curve on tests because no one did well, but it's because he does not teach you what is important to know to just pass the class. It's a level 1000 class, it should be straight forward to pass.
Give this man a cigar! Lectures are so entertaining, I've never enjoyed a class so much. He is so funny, I hope I can take a class with him again. The tests aren't super easy but they're not hard either. What kept me from getting an A was clicker points. A lot of times he knows we will miss them but still lets us miss the points regardless.
Professor Morris is the best!! He is SO incredibly knowledgeable, interesting, and funny! He has so much real world experience and insight, and makes all the lectures so entertaining. He is clear about assignments and deadlines, and does in class reviews for the tests that are so helpful! Take a class with Mr. Morris, you will absolutely love him!!
Professor Morris is a nice, but he rambles a lot in class. As a senior, it was very hard for me to pay attention, because all he does is talk about his experience without effectively tying it to the lecture material. I was lost most of the time. Attendance is mandatory. He doesn't do exam review, so focus on the slides. Don't bother with Math lab.
Noel Morris goes on tangents during his lectures and will easily get sidetracked during class to discuss something completely unrelated to the subject. His personality is also very jarring and comes across as rude and even disrespectful to the students in class who had clicker questions incorrect. He is not willing to accommodate for you at all.
Rude and inconsiderate to students who come to him with questions and has horrible email etiquette. He'll belittle you and make you feel like you can't reach out to him for help, or if you're dealing with circumstances outside of your control. Don't expect him to care for you at all. One of the rudest professors I've ever had, do not take him.
Don't expect to learn much in class, his presentations he goes over in lecture does not reflect what's given on exams. Noel Morris also expects you to keep up with a daily Dow journal throughout the entire semester, even on days where you do not have class. He also happens to be horrible with deadlines and never tells us of important information.
If you as a student value being able to reach out to your professor to answer any of your questions, or knowing they're fully invested in making sure you learn the material: DON'T TAKE MORRIS. He is about as unreliable as it gets and does not care about you. He is generally rude and belittles you to the point where you don't want to ask for help.
The Dow journal he assigns to you at the beginning of the semester is one of the most pointless and tedious assignments I have ever had to do. He fully expects you to watch the Dow on a daily basis and to write a thorough response about it throughout the entire semester with no exceptions, with zero instructions. Rude to students asking for help.
Morris is very rude and inconsiderate to students who come to him asking for help or have questioned about his class- which is very odd considering he literally offers 0 instructions on assignments and rambles during lectures. He is about as disconnected of a professor as you can get. Also refuses to accommodate students who must miss class.
Morris is the definition of unapproachable. During his lectures he'll have clicker questions available for attendance credit and will belittle the class for questions that they happen to get wrong. He has horrible email etiquette and will not respond to students with the same level of respect and dignity that they reach out with. Rude and bitter.
Got hit with a sickness and have been bed-ridden for the past 4 days? Experienced a family emergency or loss? Confused as hell about the class and need guidance? Don't expect Morris to be able to accommodate you with any of these things! Please for your own sanity find a different professor who will actually care about you and your success.
Noel Morris is arguably one of the rudest professors I've ever had the displeasure in taking. During lectures he would often belittle the class for clicker questions in which the majority got wrong. He made his students feel like they could not reach out to him for help, nor would he even provide it. He goes on multiple unprofessional tangents.
I have never had a professor who genuinely doesn't care AT ALL about his students grades or if they understand the material. If you have a doctors note because you are sick he will not care. Tests are hard and there is no review. Too scared to ask him questions because he gets mad during lecture if the class doesn't understand something.
Shares his political opinions and doesn't care if you understand the material. I was shocked how rude he was when the class got clicker questions wrong because HE thought it was easy. I am confused as to why he taught this semester as he told us not to email him and would often say he didn't want to be in class.
Mr. Morris is a goat. As long as you study for tests you will be fine. Lots of clicker questions, but I had no problem because I enjoyed going to class. He has lots of industry experience which is helpful. He is a bit harsh when the class gets clicker questions wrong, but I never had a problem with it. Overall great class and great professor.
The embodiment of "DGAF." The class itself isn't necessarily hard but I wouldn't expect any help from Morris. Students are far better off learning the material independently because he doesn't make any effort to teach during his lectures and is dismissive to questions. Assignments have no guidelines whatsoever, especially the DOW Journal.
Never had a professor as rude as when I took Morris for Personal Financial Management in the Spring semester. Like others said, the content was manageable, but Morris will not make any adjustments or accommodations to make sure you're learning the material. He's short with people who ask questions and belittles the class for wrong clicker questions
Morris's personality is very jarring and acts straight up disrespectful to students. His entire demeanor is off-putting and discouraging to students who are struggling in the class and need to ask questions to understand the material. He has no urgency in responding to emails and will often put down the class for questions that they get wrong.
I was really worried about taking this class because of prior reviews but honestly it was fine. The material wasn't too bad. Lots of clicker questions, 4 exams, quizzes, and a semester project that's a Dow Jones journal. That's it. Professor Morris can be very blunt. If you can get over that, it's fine. He means well.
I created a Rate My Professor review warning students about a Personal Finance class. The professor provides minimal instruction just short weekly audio clips. His exams combine eight chapters into a 100-question,120-minute test. Review sessions offer little help, with given practice questions rarely appearing on tests. Avoid this class if possible
For an online class, it was extremely hard. The tests were very material heavy and were nothing like the notes or quizzes. I would not recommend taking this class.
Morris is an unapproachable professor with a strict teaching style. While the content is manageable, he shows little empathy and can be rude. Unstuck study helped me prepare for exams when Morris offered no support.
