He often keeps you the whole time and tells a lot of stories, but the class isn't too bad if you come. Compare to Dr. C. Michaels in Sarasota.

He makes his classes submit analyses of 5 articles, which isn't fun. His tests were of average difficulty and curved fairly. The lectures are long and boring.
He is one of my favorite teachers. Yes, he does talk alot, and does assign 5 articles that have to be typed, but he gives you all semester to turn them in, and his tests aren't that hard, and he curves your grades. He's very lenient!
Definately my favorite teacher! His classes are very interesting and he's pretty funny! Tests aren't too bad--50 multiple choice and you have to do 5 articles throughout the semester.

I like him, lot's of personaility, sometimes lectures are long or a little boring, but he trys to keep it light. The tests are pretty surprising, it seems like in class that it is pretty casual but don't let that fool ya, you'll get socked with the exams if you don't study! But very leniant, and nice. He also curves, love that.
Great personality, assigns lots to read. Make sure you read all, tests are surprisingly difficult but he does grade on curve. He brings a wealth of experience to class, so pay attention, its as interesting if not more than the book.
Was an ok class, if you procrastinate (like me) dont take it because those 5 articles will catch up to you quick! Tests werent too great either, never knew what to expect but he always let us out early. If you take him, be prepared! If you arent interested in Marketing then stay away, he is very enthusiastic about it & will expect you to be too!
He was super nice, the tests were a little difficult. The articles are easy if you do them early.
good teacher
Good class...made me understand even though I am not a business major...
You are retarded if you don't take him. Tests come from his powerpoint and questions on the CD that comes with the book. I never went to class, just studied the day before the test and got an A. Definately do the 5 marketing articles as soon as you can, because his criteria for grading them get tougher as the course moves on.
Perfect!
He is absolutely awesome!! One of the best teachers USF has ever had. A blessing in a world of mediocre professors. Take him now!!
EASY CLASS. Take good notes for his power point lectures. 85% of test is from the power points. Do the articles EARLY as he puts more requirements on each topic as the class goes on. We always got out of class early.
I love him; have taken him before. Don't waste your time buying the book, just pay attention, take great notes in class, study the slides, and you will be fine. There is no better, more student-focused teacher than Noel. Take him now.
BEST PROF.
Read chapter, take test ... read chapter, take test ... Would have been just as well off taking this class over the internet as format and lack of working knowledge of professor offered little during 4 hr sessions.
Great teacher! He def. knows what he is talking about and he was in the marketing industry before he started teaching owning his own business. He tells you what he expects and just show up to class, show some interest, do your articles early, and you'll do fine.
I have had Noel for several classes. He is just a carefree kinda guy. Doesn't really teach you anything, that you have to do on your own, but he is an easy A if you just read each chapter throughly. Oh, and a little hint to all of you, most of his tests are just the vocabulary terms put into situations. Memorize them, and you will pass.
He isn't helpful at all! The test's aren't based on the book, worded ambiguously, worse is that he keeps the test so you can challenge the questions. I would not recommend him at all!
The newspaper articles are very helpful to your grade. Just get them done early. He teaches his lectures with powerpoint (I wish no professors did this), which, combined with somewhat boring content, makes the lectures boring. Tests are curved but can be somewhat difficult.
YOU MUST READ THE BOOK and comprehend what you are reading. Print his power points and use them to follow the lecture. Tests are on what he talks about in class and the book. Use your notes, listen to the power point on the text CD, and take the practice MC tests on the CD. Got an A, but had to work for it. Nice guy!!!
Awesome, talk to him outside of class and you'll be sure to walk away with an A
Great teacher but don't underestimate his tests.
Noel, Noel is one of the best professors USF sarasota has. I took his MAR 3023 class in summer 09, and it was awesome. Before he begins lecturing, he bring something very interesting to marketing thats happening in the real world. To get an A, you MUST read book and MUST do the Wall Street articles on time.
Prof. Noel is an excellent teacher, but can go off topic at times. Make sure you do all of your WSJ articles on time and study the powerpoints. Make sure you take the practices tests on the cd prior to taking his tests, considering some questions come directly from them. Come to class and pay attention and you'll definitely pass!
This was not the best online course. It would probably be more informative live as he lectures well. Some of the material is a bit dated in this digital age. Do the assignments early, read the chapters (digital book and website, don't buy the text if you can avoid it) Use the online practice tests and quizzes to prepare for exams and final.
Noel Noel does a great job in keeping the class interesting. I had him for only basic marketing. He uses the WSJ for part of his lecture and is a comical professor. I like his real world experiences and examples. He will do his best to help you pass the class. He grades exams on a curve.
I was a bit intimidated at first by his syllabus & Wall Street journal article summary requirement, but neither the class nor the articles are tough as long as you put in the work. He's super nice, and I would recommend taking him online (he seems a bit extra chatty while lecturing). Overall really liked him and the class.
Dr. Noel is a cool professor. Easy to get in contact with. Will work with you if you need help/assistance. ~ Looks like Kevin Costner
Tests are based off of online practice tests, so studying is easier. He seems to go off subject often during the lecture, but is very helpful. Make sure to get the WSJ articles done and don't wait until the last minute!
I had Noel for marketing and liked him. You could sense his enthusiasm. GEB was a different story. VERY rude, interruptive, and dismissive during corporate audit group presentation. Instructions asked for thorough analysis and creativity for recommendations. He instead gave high praise for copying from the Internet and quoting book definitions.
I agree with the last poster. He tore apart those in our group that put a lot of thought into their project analysis. This is usually one of the last classes before graduation and the real world expects more than book smart definition quoters. Challenge students, yes. But let them finish their presentation and allow a rebuttal.
Prof. Noel is very entertaining and you would not be bored in his class. He clearly states his expectations. Follow instructions, start early and it's easy A. If you have difficulty talk to him. Dr. Noel cares about each student and would do more than expected to help you. This is especially important in GEB class and problem with a team member.
I really liked Dr. Noel, bc he cares about his students. He expects a reasonable level of work that would be acceptable in the business world (where you are fired for sub-par work product), if you slack or your work is below avg, he lets you know it. I saw no indication of unfair expectations. First exam was very conceptual, focus on book (not PP).
Dr. Noel is extremely helpful and will do anything to help you. Complete all your WSJ articles by the first exam. The earlier articles are graded easier. He tends to get off topic, but classes are interesting.
Awesome professor. One of the best I've ever had! : )
Professor Noel is a great professor. He made the class interesting by making silly jokes, and relating the material to the outside world. Make sure to do all of your WSJ assignments to pass the course. The earlier you turn them in, the better. Tests are alot of questions, but are easy if you have paid attention in class and have studied.
Prof. Noel is very friendly and easygoing. WSJ articles are important part of grade. Do them early bc he doesn't let you use an article someone else has already used.Tests are harder, but he is overly fair at grading.
Class was pretty easy. WSJ articles def necessary for grade. I didn't watch the online lectures and just scanned powerpoints and the book and got a B. Pretty sure if I put more effort into it I could have easily gotten an A in the class. Prof Noel is very helpful if you need to reschedule exam just let him know ahead!
He has an awesome personality, really brings energy to class. A nice change from most professors. Do the WSJ assignments, study for the tests and you'll be good. He usually curves the tests.
I am very pleased with Dr. Mark Noel. He is the best Professor. I took his class and like him a lot for his generosity and fun loving quality. Any marketing class at graduate or undergraduate level could be very difficult but his class seems less difficult because of his cooperative nature and easy going mentality. He is best!!
He is the best of the best
Amazing teacher, really cares about his students and his names so nice they named him twice!
Took this class online. 3 test were given in which you have to drive to the school to take them. Not a hard class at all. The professor is great and very passionate !!
Great Professor! Made the class interesting. Provided examples and study notes relevant to assignments and exams.
Dr. Noel is a very knowledgeable and dedicated professor. He makes the topics interesting and truly cares about the success of his students. He also grades fairly, if you do the work and study it will be reflected. I have taken two of his classes already and I plan to take another one of his classes in the fall. I highly recommended him!
A little quirky but all around a fun professor. He is very knowledgeable and relates his lectures to relevant things. He usually assigns heavy reading and the course load for the online class was unexpectedly high in volume but the assignments weren't hard. Tons of real life marketing experience to be learned in Prof. Noel's classes! :)
Great class and teacher. Enjoyed the WSJ articles and the material. I look forward to more classes with this professor in the future, hopefully not online though.
Dr. Noel is a terrific professor. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about marketing. Read the text and you'll do well on his exams. Very fair with grading. I have taken several classes with him and would/will take more!
He is an awesome teacher, keeps things interesting. Will help you out when needed and the class grade is based off of WSJ assignments and Exams.
I loved Professor Noel! He is a great teacher. This class was very informative and I enjoyed taking it!
Easy yet informative course. Really enjoyed the WSJ assignments.
I thoroughly enjoyed this marketing class with Dr. Noel! He's witty, well respected, and eager to help. Thank you!
Dr. Noel was helpful and the course was interesting. Read the articles do the papers and keep up with the text, you'll do fine. I aced it and I only took the class to see if I had an interest in marketing. Take him, you'll be glad you did!
Would take other classes with him.
Professor Noel is a great professor! Tests are a lot of questions, but are easy. Make sure to do all of your WSJ assignments. I highly recommend him!
Great Professor! Dr. Noel is very helpful and wants students to do well. It is a must to study for tests because they are not easy in my opinion. Make sure to do all your WSJs.
Professor Noel was great! He made an interesting subject even more interesting. He's entertaining, passionate about the subject, and very fair. I highly recommend choosing him for any marketing class you can! You won't regret it.
Best teacher I've ever had c: He's really great and clear and always there to provide feedback if needed.
Extremely intelligent professor, but simple in mannerisms which is much appreciated. Grades fairly, and curves the grades based on students' performances. Quizzes are not hard as long as you study. Video PowerPoints and the professor explanations of the chapters are excellent and he makes it very interesting. The exams are not easy. You must study.
Awesome class, would def recommend. Show up, pay attention, read the book, get an A.
Dr. Noel is a really good professor. Gives extensions to assignments. Gives extra credit opportunity at the end of semester. Very interesting information given in his PowerPoint's online. Also the article assignments given are straight forward. You will have to sign up for the Wall street Journal at a low price. Great professor at USF.
Lecture videos and powerpoint goes along with the book. Keep up with the chapters and study the practice test. Tests were timed 75 minutes for 80 questions, not quite enough time for me to read the questions and comprehend what was being asked. always ran out of time, but that might be my learning issue (comprehension).
Professor Noel was clear with his assignments and grading, and reminded the class throughout the semester about the papers that would be due. Show up and study, and you will pass the class with an A.
I really liked this class, it was easy and overall the class was not bad at all. The professor is also very helpful and makes the class easy and understandable.
Professor Noel is pretty funny, the class was easy, long lectures, must do WSJ assignment's. The class was relatively easy, he is very funny.
The online courses are very organized (this is my second one). I really enjoy his online lectures, they help you prepare for the quizzes and exams. The tests only allow about one minute per question, so you need to make sure you have done the work and know the material. He emails back quickly, don't be afraid to ask questions, he cares.
Took online summer C. Easy class, I would recommend the book because the tests are taken directly from it. 5 one-page papers are required along with the purchase of the Wall Street Journal. He grades easily as long as there's effort and understanding shown. No homework, just papers and exams. Would recommend!
Have to write 5 papers (straight-forward and provides examples from previous classes), turn i a resume, video assignment, mid term and final. Best. Teacher. Ever.
Somewhat easy A. 5 one page paper on articles from WSJ. Found most of the exam answers online. Although, you can only answer one answer at a time and can't review it once you move on. No homework, just weekly videos.
Dr. Noel is fantastic. Course was easy AND I learned something. Actually worth watching online lectures. Final paper was clear, fun, and graded fairly. Online was very quiz heavy, usually over weekends, 3 exams and a final paper. Feedback was thoughtful and prof was available when needed. Would take again in a heartbeat, wish he taught more courses
Great professor, the class has weekly quizzes and three exams, as well as a six page paper. There is a lot of work in the course, but he is very fair on the grading. You only have one minute per question on test and quizzes, which is difficult, but questions are reasonable. Very detailed notes on Canvas and professor is always available.
Those who think he's a great teacher have never had a good professor, which doesn't surprise me at USFSM. Boring, mediocre at best, he does not complete his sentences, which makes me crazy! Get ready to listen to him talk about himself for 3 hours take online instead. He is liked because its an easy A. If you cant make an A, you have big issues.
This is a professor that goes above and beyond for his students who seek his guidance. He is regularly available to meet during his morning office hours and is always eager to assist with internship and career advancements . His sense of humor is great and it makes lectures fun and interactive. This professor will teach you the art closing deals.
Dr. Noel is a solid dude and he knows what he's talking about. I took his marketing course at USFSM which ended up being a night course once a week for 3 hours. The lectures can be pretty dense but it's mostly going over what's in the chapters. Online tests/chapter quizzes (helpful) Do the assignments & study - you'll be happy you took the class!
Professor Noel is a pleasure to listen to most times. he has a decent sense of humor and is good about actually learning who his students are. The tests are based on both the book material and lectures. he is not a real tough grader. as long as your work is evident, you get a good grade! definitely take him in person, not online.
Professor was great. helped out when I needed it and provided more resources to other things outside of class, as in business.
Took this online class in the fall term. All the assignments are given to you in the beginning with examples of how to complete them. You could probably pass this course without the textbook but it made me feel better to have it and refer to it during assignments and tests. 6 assignments, 3 exams, 1 exit quiz. Do the work you'll get a A or B.
Prof Noel offers a multitude of ways to learn marketing in a real world sense. Students are required to read the WSJ and submit short papers connecting key marketing terms to articles of choice. Most exam questions are taken from videos/lectures/textbook. His PPT lectures online are pretty entertaining. Also keeps students informed about due dates.
This was the second course I've taken with Prof. Noel. He is a very respected and caring individual who loves the content he teaches. He's cares about his students pocket$ and humbly admits mistakes when he makes them. All of his courses require that you read the whole text book, but you will pass if you put in the effort.
absolute best professor for basic marketing. I did not watch the lectures, but all you need is the book. it is a very easy A class, most important is to turn everything in online
For online classes, make sure you read the notes section in the Power Points. Read all the material, take good notes, understand the concepts. Watch the deadlines, especially on the writing assignments. Great feedback, fair grading on the papers, but the tests were challenging. He knows his stuff, but makes you hustle for your grade for sure.
The instructor is very nice and a fair grader. However, this class requires a lot of reading and memorization from both the textbook and powerpoint presentations to do well, this is what makes the exams tough. Turn in everything on or before the deadline so you won't lose lots of points, and study early for exams so you know the material.
He was very kind, understanding, and funny. He manages to make lectures entertaining through great examples and comedy. The course I took was well-designed and thorough. Information was presented in many forms of media so it became easier to understand important concepts. Additional videos/TedTalks gave more dimension to the class.
By far best professor I have had. Objectives of the class are very clear. Responds to questions and emails VERY quickly. I would highly recommend this professor.
Best Professor, response very quickly, understanding, entertaining and funny. Amazing Lectures, Inspriational.
Professor Noel is such a sweet and caring Professor. He truly cares for all his students. He is very straight forward with what to expect and by when you must meet deadlines. Also, he is very attentive to your emails and makes sure to send you reminders on turning in assignments and any upcoming exam. I would take any class he teaches. Great Humor
Dr. Noel was a great professor - very fair in his grading (he significantly curved all the exams), responds quickly if you have questions, and clearly cares about his students. I have no complaints - he's been a fun, fair, and enthusiastic professor. He's firm with deadlines so don't try to push them.
definitely very strict with his deadlines, but it was easy assignments. I wouldnt say I learned much, especially since it was online and on top of that i do not like marketing so the exams were a little difficult. also, the exams are proctored whether you taking him online or in person.
Very Direct in his teaching. Study and Pass and he curves the grade to give you a better chance
Professor Noel, was a great professor Cares about his students. He will do anything to help you. Be Successful in the course. He his clear about is assignments and sends reminders. His test are pretty easy if you Study the material.
The best professor! Gave real-world practical applications. Great learning experience.
