Lots of Assignments and online quizes. But good grader.
I believe she is a poor teacher and appears all around sloppy when it comes to assigning homework and writing notes. Her practice question solutions are even wrong sometimes. Despite working hard, I feel that I'm getting nothing out of this class and I would advise people thinking of taking her not to.
Avoid her, for she is an egyptian plague brought to our fine institution. She claims econometrics is easy, but you can't follow anythign she does. I have a 4.0 in econ and a 3.9 overall and she seems ridiculously impossible. intermed micro was a dream compared to her.
Expect to work hard, everyother week graded assignments, and everyother week online quizzes. She is very helpful. And gives extra credits for the postings on her disscussion board.
She encourages discussion board use for help with assignments and such, but there have been many times when she doesn't even respond to questions posted. There's no in-class interaction, which would help so much more. She also makes frequent mistakes when lecturing, leading to some confusion.
The notes she gives in class are often incorrect and inconsistent with the text book. Her homework is time consuming and difficult but very useful in learning the material. The online quizzes she gives, though, are pretty useless and the average on them is somewhere between 50 and 60 percent. I wouldn't recommend her at all.
One of the worst professors (TA) I've ever encountered. I felt like this class was useless and I learned nothing, yet somehow still got an A. She isn't as hard as she seems, because everyone does so poorly. Avoid her if you want to learn or even understand what she says in her terrible Egyptian-Accented English.
She doesn't take attendance but if you go to class, pay attention, and ask questions. it is not that difficult. She does have an accent but she is helpful and does not mind repeating or clarifying things. she gives graded hw and quizzes that also help boost your grade. She is a lot better than some other econ professors at Rutgers!
She is just terrible. Take her if ur into the whole "teach urself the entire course" thing. Class is a waste of time. She doesnt do any problems in class, which sucks because her tests are just 1 essay and 2 math problems. Seriously, skip class, but read and do the review problems.
Please, she's fine! She's willing to help out and makes the course fairly straightforward; have a decent knowledge of the material and go over the practice problems she did in class (especially the ones with tricky algebra) before taking the exams. The quizzes and wikis are done online so they're not bad either.
I agree with the last comment. She is very nice and helpful and if you go to class and pay attention you are bound to get a good grade (assuming you are not a total moron). It's econometrics and a lot of the material is not so straightforward... so teaching yourself is kind of required. TAKE HER!! She's also very attractive.
She is unclear and doesn't care much.
She has to be the easiest econometrics professor in this school. If you take her class seriously and do all the work (there's a fair amount) then you will get at least a b+ guaranteed.
As critical as this may sound, Professor Emara was the worst professor I have ever had in my entire college experience. Her class lacked any sort of organization. Here tests, which consisted of 3 problems to test 12 chapters of material, was absolutely irrelevant and overlooked all the important topics of macro analysis. She was simply the worst.
READ THIS. I kid you not, If you're taking econometrics, you should take it with Emara. I got an A+ in the freakin class and thats not even gonna show up on my transcript at Rutgers. The material is work. What do you expect? If you stay up with the class, do the assignments, quizzes, eviews and put some effort into studying you'll do fine.
Read the book... lectures are not particularly helpful.
all assignments, homework and tests are due online. you must come to class to take the testexams though. Material is tough but she explains it, gives you all of the power points and explains things if you don't understand. ask questions. I didn't use the book but only needed the power points she posted. pay attention to whats due
Professor was the worst thing that has happened in my educational career. This class is beyond me understanding any of it. Professor talks down to you when you ask for help and told me to just read the textbook. She is a nightmare! Avoid her if you want a less stressful semester. I cannot believe my tuition money is helping to fund her salary.
Please never take Emara. All she does is read off a powerpoint that's covered in math symbols and jargon that only a professional in the field would know. She doesn't teach she speaks down condescendingly on you. I'm an Econ major who's always excelled, & this is the first time I've ever been stumped in an Econ class. Worst professor I've ever had
Professor Emara is one of the best professors to teach Econometrics. She is very knowledgeable in the field. She gives lost of homework which prepares you well for exams. I would recommend this class if you want to learn quantitative analysis well.
Best professor I have ever had hands down!
Did not learn much from this class. Since this is a mandatory course to graduate, I took it.
I took this intermediate macroeconomics online. If you want to get an easy A, take this course. If you want to learn, do n' t take it.
I never knew that I would ever be able to understand Econometrics. Professor Emara made me love it as she had presented it in a very easy way that combines theory with application. I would definitely recommend taking her course.
one of the Best Professors i have ever met
one of the best professor ever
Teaching is very structured and for someone who is not familiar with this subject like me, professors structured method takes you step by step and makes the learning connected and interesting to learn. The professor is always there to answer your questions even outside the class, via e-mail and one unique method use of video is extremely useful.
She is a great PROFESSIONAL!
Professor Noha was very impressive by the time she was my econometrics professor. Her lectures were pretty fine and the environment in her class was learning enhancing. I would recommend her class to anyone interested in improving its quantitative skills..
Excellent Econometrics teacher. She's very good at explaining the material clearly. The tests are exactly like the homework so she's a very fair teacher. Also, practice work and the paper assignment are super helpful to further train your research skills. I would recommend without a doubt!!
Professor made the class interactive and has great discussions. Class notes were on PowerPoints but reading the book definitely helps . I would take again.
Awesome professor. Super knowledgeable and passionate about subject matter
Professor Emara's lecture was precise and her explanations of the material were excellent! She also created several videos for further explanations beyond the lectures, so she is very dedicated to her students. I would definitely take another course from her!
Prof. Noha is a very learned teacher. She not only has good grasp over econometrics, but she is also an excellent teacher when it comes to imparting her knowledge to the students. She is always accessible to help with understanding concepts and a very caring person who understands the needs of individual students and is always ready to support.
Noha uses all the best practices of great pedagogy. She presents material in many different formats - verbally, written, videos, examples. Her lectures are clear and organized so students know why they are learning what and in what context it is relevant. She draws on real-life examples to apply to her lectures, concepts, theories and assignments.
Professor Noha is a great teacher with great conceptual clarity. I like her teaching methods and she is always available to clear doubts in class, on discussion forums or through email. I like her interlinkages and simple, lucid explanation of complex concepts. Her notes and videos are also very simple and easy to follow in understanding subjects.
She is really an amazing and inspiring professor. She made me love econometrics like never before. The combination of lectures and assignments made the course so rich for any person aspiring to be an economist/econometrician to build a foundation.
She is passionate about her work, and delivers lectures in a simplest manner, so that the concepts become clear and quite understandable.
Emara is an excellent Economics professor, she gives so many real-life examples of those economic jargons and makes them very easy to understand. I would definitely recommend for those who want to learn Economics but struggled with it.
There is a great deal of work for this class so be ready for quizzes, homework and discussions on a weekly basis. The professor is very understanding of the level of difficulty and makes sure to provide necessary assistance. She also provided numerous extra credit opportunities that really help to boost your grade.
I studied microeconometrics with Prof Noha. She is the best professor for econometric theory and they way she engaged with class is incredible. Lectures, videos, powerpoints and notes, are very well organized. Assignments are the best way to learn and digest. She is always accessible and I wish I could study Macroeconometrics with here.
Dr. Emara teaches Econometrics very well and knows her stuff especially when it comes to STATA. She is extremely helpful when you go for office hours and reach out to her. She is personable and realizes what she is teaching is very hard. She is fair when it comes to grading and doesnt have unrealistic expectations. Stay involved and have fun!
Econometrics is one of the hardest courses I have taken at Rutgers University. Dr. Emara is definitely the Professor to take for this course!! She is understanding and caring. She is very knowledgeable and will help you in every way for you to understand STATA. Point blank do the work, ask for help, and will learn A LOT in this course.
I took Intermediate Macro and Foundations of Econometrics online with Dr. Emara. I learned a lot in both classes, and I really appreciated that whenever I had any questions I could always ask her and she would always help. She was also very fair with grading and would give extra credit to help students. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent professor.
Dedicated professor
Noha Emara is a great Professor , she knows how to simplify complex concepts that makes it easy to understand. Microeconometrics is a tough course but the Professor made me like it because of her approach to teaching it. Her lectures are well organize and the topics are introduced in a logical manner. I will always recommend this course to other
Professor Emara was cooperatives and supportive throughout the course, she replied our questions on the online discussion board promptely and she work hard during lectures and send videos after classes for more elaboration and explaining for the course topic, overall she was excellent in the instruction of this course.
Caring: Professor always gives extra video and notes for a better understanding, this helps a lot when we have little time to review Respected: Professor has never beem late in any lecture, and always understand students Amazing Lectures: Paying attention in lecture would help understand the content much faster with helpful example
Excellent professor! Professor Noha knows how to make the complicated materials easy to understand and organized the course really well. It should be a very demanding course, but she just has the ability to make it not so hard to learn, and even with fun! The process was not easy, but you can really learned something!
Will always respond to your emails not matter what time it is! She is very great at being available when you need help. She is also understanding when emergencies pop up. The material is hard but she always makes sure to drill in core values to help make the rest of the topic flow easily. Gives out extra credit which is amazing!
She provides good step by step videos on tough topics.
Her lecture presentation is good and clear, but there is too much work load from her class. Rather having assignments, midterm and final exam, we even have recitation work each and every week. The number of questions in the exams and their level of difficulty are too much for the time given.
Although the lecture is easy to understand, it is a disadvantage that the character on the blackboard is dirty and can not be read.
Professor Noha is a great teacher. She has made this tough subject easier for us. I only wish we had some more attention paid to recitations. I wish she could give use video lectures for recitations.
Attendance is required but lectures are inclusive and not redundant at all. She does a great job of linking class material to real world scenarios. Assignments, quizzes and exams are all straight forward and directly relate to only class material. If you participate and study, an A shouldn't be very difficult.
Noha is a nice professor and better person. She has made this tough and arid subject easier for PEPM students. I only wish we had separate time for quizzes and recitations. I like so much the video lectures for classes.
Amazing Lecturer but exams and assignments are too heavy as questions are always way too much.
Nice professor, difficult course, heavy workload. lectures are inclusive and recitations are helpful.
I liked the structure of the course. It was very practical and hands on which made sure you learnt along the way. The quizs, recitation exercises helped reinforced my learning and you had clear expectations of what was required to do well.
Professor Emara is very well prepared and explains concepts in an understandable manner, nonetheless she has unrealistic expectations from students in respect to the time needed to dedicate to this class, and the difficulty of the assignments and exams.
I think she expects that we are all like to work in research or love econometrics. I respect her passion and her enthusiasm to make us understand. But, I think it is somehow too much because some of us do not actually work in research department or going to be one. So, may be less technical derivation of the formulas and more practical exercises.
An excellent professor, lectures were well organized, a lot of work to do, but really worth it.
Organization of class is good. But I would prefer more real cases and exercises, where you can understand in practice the things you are learning
Excellent professor! Professor Noha knows how to make the complicated materials easy to understand and organized the course really well. It should be a very demanding course, but she just has the ability to make it not so hard to learn, and even with fun! The process was niot easy, but you can really learned something!
Professor Emara is very good in terms of teaching and as a person. She perceived every subject with a great enthusiasm. She is always well prepared. Also she has very good sense of Humor. I have not regret taking her class. Thanks to her i have a clear understanding of Econometric subject.
It would have helped had there been more practical/Stata exercises in class.
The professor gave us demanding assignments which would have been ok if those assigments had been related to the final exam at least partially. We spent too much time covering the first part of the material, and lost too much practical time at recitations doing quiezzes. The TA was amazing.
The material covered and the amount of work were okay. However, I couldn't find this subject interesting because the lecture was all about technical stuff and professor didn't give us the broader perspective on the subject, which would have been better in applying the subject to the real world.
Excellent organization. I like the fact that the final exam only weights 25%. It motivates you to work at a constant pace during the whole term with the quizzes, assignments and midterm rather than full pressure in the last week of the term
It is really honor to be taught microeconometrics by professor Noha Emara, she has an excellent way of teaching besides the available materials the she provided. I really enjoyed the course and wish to have another course with her.
Very structured and clear in the design of the course, making the course logic easy to follow. Tough grader in the sense that she has very clear grading criteria to herself, and I felt for the midterm that I wasn´t very aware of her preferred structure.
The content of this course and her teaching is so pragmatic. Each class was well-prepared.
Professor Noha is very structured and clear. The class helped me to fill gaps that I inherited from my masters in Economics. The class goes from the very basic concepts to the understanding of econometric tools that are used in more real world professional circumstances.
She is the best teacher I ever had. She is the best.
She might be good at her subject Microeconometrics, but she is very conservative in grading. She subtracts points for every single mistake irrespective of the fact that the student never studied subject. She keep talking about herself and her kids and is biased towards female students. She makes lots of mistakes and become vengeful if you point out
She assigned a ton of homework on STATA which was nearly impossible to use off campus due to poor VPN connection. In her econometrics class she assumed we all knew everything about statistics already when we did not and she didn't care to help us with technical issues. She moved very quickly and I just felt like I was consistently falling behind.
I would have benefited from more lectures to explain concepts. The homework assignments weren't necessarily helpful when it came to taking the midterm exam. Advice: Practice practice the math concepts throughout your text and familiarize yourself quite well. I have felt "on my own" so far so stay self-disciplined in learning the subject matter.
Really enjoyed Dr. Emaras class. At first reading her syllabus she seemed a bit much but she was very understanding and communicative. If you do her work, no reason not to pass exams. Fair grader, wish I could take her again for another class.
The class was definitely not easy and you will have to invest a good amount of time in completing your work and studying for exams. That being said, professor Emara will do her best to help you out if you are trying your best in the class. Some lower grades were removed to help the final grades which was very nice.
I had her for the summer macro class. Besides 4 discussions, the course was through an online program called MyLab. It included the online textbook, assignments, practice problems, quizzes, and tests and we had to buy it for $100. The class was not hard and the professor responds to emails. I recommend you read the syllabus and rubrics carefully.
Awful Professor
Midterm and Final online as well as everything else, had a 89 to finish the semester and she was nice enough to round it up to a 90 to give me an A.
She has attendance quizzes and in-class practice quizzes every class, so attendance is pretty manadatory as these two things are 30% of your grade. Must pay attentive in lectures to do hw, quizzes, etc. She is great though just pay attention and make sure to do all assignments *set reminders or youll forget
The lectures were great as the professor explained the concepts very clearly and it was inspiring.
Great person and an even greater professor
The class notes and material shared for reading could definitely be improved.
great professor! answers questions quickly and provided helpful resources throughout the course.
She is a great teacher. Her class is well structured and i am totally recommend that everyone to take her class.
I was afraid I would fall behind in her macroeconometrics class. However, her teaching style and well-structured class allowed me to easily understand the material. I completely recommend that everyone take her class.
Very helpful and kind to students.
Learned a lot from this class.
Students will face heavy workload and will put in a lot of work to ace this course. A lot of clarifications needed to complete homeworks. Exams may be difficult to differentiate students based on grades. A lot of content will be covered throughout the course.
Top professor. I enjoyed her presentation of concepts in macroeconometrics. She simplifies the materials for students to fully grasp the concepts. However, students have to work a lot. The course workload is heavy.
I had this Professor for Macroeconomics and she is one of the most thorough Professors I've had thus far. She doesn't just assign readings, power point slides, she gives helpful lectures as well so that you can understand the material. She also keeps her readings current- not outdated which is helpful when trying to learn about the economy.

Challenging macroeconometrics course, but Noha breaks down concepts well. The workload is heavy, so staying engaged and using resources like Unstuck AI are key. Overall, a worthwhile and informative class.
I had a great experience with this professor. I took a causal analysis class with her and she was fantastic at making the material accessible. Her final assignment gave us an opportunity to do our own research. She helped us build out our concept and we ended up getting the paper published with her! Genuinely grateful for Dr. Emara.
She made macroeconometrics much easier to understand, and the .do files and assignments were especially helpful in deepening your understanding of the course.
Noha is an excellent professor who comes well-prepared for every class and is always available to answer questions about the course. The course provides extensive resources and additional materials that help students explore deeper topics related to time series models. I highly recommend Noha's course!
Professor Noha is incredibly organized, and each lecture is clearly structured and flows seamlessly. Her explanations are thorough, and she always uses tangible, real-world examples that make even the toughest concepts easy to grasp.
very useful practical skills
Professor Noha is a passionate teacher and an excellent scholar. She makes sure every concept is clear and straightforward. The assignment load is heavy, but you'll find that she has done tremendous work to make the homework manageable. It's certainly a demanding, yet deeply rewarding, learning experience.
She's rigid, institutional, more interested in research than quality instruction.
As another reviewer said: "She's rigid, institutional, more interested in research than quality instruction." I'd add her instruction is uninspired to say the least. **MCGRAWHILL CONNECT**
