Very eZ class; AUTHENTICALLY cares about students. Not only will he teach you about POLI THOROUGHLY,he will teach life lessons; made half the class cry telling his personal experience. Contacts YOU if you fail as to give you another chance. If you get him 1st year, your other teachers will never match up to him, disheartenin eh? He is a true friend!
I cannot explain in the space provided the depths to which I would advise anyone against taking a course taught by this professor. In short, he is unprofessional, incompetent and oversteps his bounds.
He is a great teacher really!!!
I don't know about other years but this professor has thus far been incompetent and unprofessional and has proven himself inexperienced. I do not have the space here to elaborate as to why but I will simply say that he is not familiar with North-American academic culture and what is acceptable therein.
Anyone with an open mind will adore this prof. He encourages debate on the touchiest of subjects (which has caused problems with some) but doesn't cross the line. He is always available to help and has been the most influential prof in my development as a student and as a human being. Not your typical prof, also an easy grader and enthousiastic.
Excellent professor, very helpfull. You will like his class.
Recommande fortement
Good teachers
Bad bad bad teacher! Really unprofessional, unpleasant, he tries to make us feel like we're dumb and he doesn't know a lot of things about north american politics, even if it's the subject of the class. Well, I just don't recommand this professor, avoid him, and I can't tell more with that only space we got.
Horrible. puts you down, very critical, hates laptops, yells at students, thinks he is god.
Professor Raboudi is MUCH too demanding of his students is disappointed no matter how much effort is put in. His opinions and judgements strongly hinder his capacity to fairly relate his topic and to remain professional. All in all, I would strongly suggest avoiding his classes in order to maintain a reasonable stress level in your first year.
Very demanding, knows what he's talking about but not very clear in explanations, always disappointed in today's youth, although he's generaly nice.
He was INSANELY demanding. He makes you feel stupid, which as a first year student, isn't the greatest feeling. You can tell he knows what he's talking about, but he needs to know that we're not perfect and his expectations are MUCH too high. He was very, very demanding. I couldn't say that enough. Wouldn't suggest this course.
Il est difficile mais necessaire.
I've heard he is hard on first year students, but he is really helpful if you go see him. He is in favor of democracy, so the class altogether chose the questions of the exam and the due date. He gave us an extension for the final paper because we asked nicely. A really funny and open person :)
Really good teacher ! best one so far !
Raboudi is a great teacher! He has a lot of knowledge to offer and loves to make connections between diverse terms. One of his mottos is "what's white is not black". He is funny but very strict to a certain point that any little noise like a pen clicking would bother his teaching. Another thing, he is a very easy grader! I do recommend him.
BEST TEACHER EVER!! He really cares for the students and if you show him you care for your grade he will find ways to help you. He is quite demanding and his expectations are high but he will teach you so much and if you study well you should get all your points.
Great prof! So passionate and very interesting. That's all I can ask for in a prof
BEST PROF AT OTTAWA U! I use the material he teaches in all my other classes. He really knows how to teach and you can easily get an A+ if you pay attention to what he says! Amazing teacher.
Very great prof, but NOT if you are a french immersion student. He tries to tailor towards the anglophones in the class but fails somewhat, as the amount of readings given are ridiculous for an anglophone who takes way longer to read and understand them. His slides are also useless (bases too much off of the readings). Super nice guy though.
Il est très gentil.
Everyday before my class with Noomane Raboudi, I get depressed. When I exit his classroom, I am surprised I am still 19 since my 3 hour class feels like an eternity. He knows his stuff, but his constant rants make it difficult to stay focused and learn. Hear my warnings: avoid his class like you would the plague.
You either love or hate this prof. As an immersion student, I found that he was very accommodating and I learned a lot in his class. He is really invested in his students, and wants you to take risks and speak your mind. Although he can come off as harsh, he really cares about what you have to say, even if he doesn't agree.
Knows his stuff and cares a lot for the students' success. Amazing prof!
The prof is really unapprochable outside of class - and is very condescending. The assignement were useless (in terms of actually evaluating what you know about poly-sci - 3 résumés of chapters from the same author; thinking is prohibited, just copy-paste). It seems that he teaches his political beliefs, not real poly-sci. Participate in class.
Very passionate and intelligent. Readings were long and difficult. He wants you to participate and succeed in his course. It didn't really feel like an intro class though, I didn't have tons of background knowledge and it felt like everyone else did and kinda like he expected us to know a lot of what he was talking about.
If you have an interest in pol sci you'll enjoy his lectures, otherwise they can be a bit dry. THE READINGS are long and difficult for most of the students so if you're immersion be prepared lol. He posts the powerpoint if you miss class. Know your stuff for the exam or you'll be sorry.
Very passionate about his subject. Also obsessed with getting students to read. All assignments are based on readings. If you're in immersion this can be tough. TAs do all the marking so the marks can be all over the place. The exam is pretty bad but most questions are taken from past exams posted online. Helpful but only if you initiate it.
Great professor! very organized, very dynamic teaching! High expectations but he gives you everything you need to succeed.
Hated the class.
This is a course that allowed me to understand as clearly as possible the Arab political thought . It also explains the historical origin of what is currently happening in the Middle East. The professor is a recognized expert in the field .
Obsessed with getting you to do your readings! HOWEVER, his final exam is almost exact replicas of previous exams. I legit only needed to memorize the answers to past exam questions to do well on it. His lectures are VERY engaging and his assignments are quite basic.
His slides were outdated by two years, and would constantly contradict himself. He'd say "Oh wait, no--I meant to change that" and he wouldn't tell us what was the actual answer. He assigned us work that a lot of students couldn't comprehend (language-wise), and when confronted about it, he told us to learn to read better. Unclear, unsatisfying.
As an immersion student, I was recommended to take this course, as apparently it was good for beginner students. Totally wrong, the prof himself is good, but the things he gave us to read made no sense. I had some francophone friends in that class and even they didn't understand the language of the assignments given to us.
The most incredible professor. I can't even explain how much I appreciated his class; the way he teaches really keeps you hooked. I took his POL1501 class and I initially thought political science might be a little dry, but he made it so interesting. He tells lots of stories and the discussions we had in class were so great. Very inspirational too
It was my first time taking an online class and I was expecting a variety of tools to learn, but he just assigned a lot of readings every week. We also had to do forum entries, but other than that it was a pretty boring way to learn. I would recommend to take an actual class, not an online one. Teacher was not very helpful with questions.
Makes you read and do assignments. Screwed if you don't read. Tough marker
Took intro to poli sci with him. He's very passionate about what he teachers, therefore very intense. If you have trouble expressing yourself in your writing, I wouldn't recommend this class. I had a very difficult time with this class, and he tried his best to help me pass. He really cares about his students, but be prepared for a hard class.
He keeps saying how you "have to learn how to read" and gives a speech in every classes about whatever goes through his mind. It didn't feel precise enough and it feels like there is no order in what he is teaching. I don't even know where to start or how to study for anything. I didn't understand politics, hoped the class would help, I was wrong.
Tough grader and makes you work for it. Try your best and work hard and he will give you exactly what you deserve! Great teacher.
The most unorganized and unclear prof I've ever had. His lectures followed no sequence and his blackboard was full of old material because he was just too lazy to erase it. The two papers for this course were based on novels we had to read and summarize, yet he didn't tell us what format he wanted us to use. Definitely avoid this prof at all cost
Very boring lectures mind you there is a lot of material and it would be hard to make it interesting. PowerPoints are outdated and evaluations do not reflect the course content. He's very tough on grammar and proper expression. If you can survive the semester, the final exam is a replica of his previous ones. The average was a 3.8.
He's one of the best profs I've ever had. He seems intense in class but he is VERY clear in what he expects. If you follow the grading grid he provides, then you will easily get an A. Going to every class is essential because you never know when he will drop hints about the exam. People who skip his class will not do well on the final.
Great professor! Make sure to always ask questions, and go see him at his office and you will do amazing. TAKE TAKE TAKE!!!!!!
Great prof.
Amazing professor for Middle Eastern politics. I came into his class not knowing a lot about the situation there and feel like I have a lot better understanding now. He is very accessible for any questions you have and wants to help. Take a class with him if you can!
Professor Raboudi is a fantastic Middle Eastern Politics prof. He has experiences that he uses to explain and illustrate the complex reality of life and politics in the Middle East. He cares about his students and pushes the limits by creating debates on controversial issues. Would definitely recommend!!
Ive taken 3 classes with him. Great prof! If you put in the work and ask questions youll be good.
Very good teacher, make's you think more than learning. His classes are based from 2009, but he only covers 2 or 3 slides per powerpoint. Every thing is on Blackboard and his final exam is on Blackboard too. Good teacher for Political Science students!
One of the best profs at Uottawa!
Prof.'s teaching style is participation heavy + fast-paced slideshows, which made it difficult to follow along at times, but everything is online. I recommend 1. attending all/and recording all lectures 2. doing all readings 3. dropping the course if Jerome is your TA and you're in FI because he doesn't use the prof's rubric and is a tough grader:/
Great lecturer, very passionate about political science. The course is a little disorganized, and a lot of reading is assigned. Mark is mostly based off of text summaries that have little to do with the course, however the exam is quite fair. Great course for french immersion students, as he doesn't penalise FI students for grammar.
Found him very unclear and doesn't follow his course plan. He teaches introduction to political science but would be better as political thought prof. His exam had very little to do with the course content, but they are all replicas of previous ones he puts on brightspaces so make sure to study them.
Lectures are hard to follow and have little to do with actual course content. Attendance and readings are not mandatory at all to do well in the class, except for graded discussion groups. Assignments were difficult (especially for French Immersion students) but the final exam was easy, completely based off of past copies he provided on Brightspace
Worst prof Ive ever had. Despite what he says he doesnt care about his students.
I took two course with him. He is my favourite professor. Key : take the time to go to his office and really build a relationship. He appreciates student that go out of their way to interact with him and are eager to learn
He really tries to have discussions with the class, he teaches you HOW to think, HOW to analyse.
Even though he posts his exams on Brightspace and his slides, it's really important to go to class! He helps you make connections and really think about the material. He helps you understand concepts that you will need to know in order to progress further in political science.
Course consists of 3 texts that you will have to summarize, group discussions that you can bs + exam with the questions posted on Brightspace. I went to maybe... 7 of his classes in total? (no need to show up) The girl who sold me the textbooks said they were useless and I vouch for that. Easy class for Frenchies imo. legit, just study for final
He knows his subject very well, he also conveys it well but the problem is how we are graded. He had us hand things in without a single guideline the whole term, despite being asked for clarifications by many students. TAs grading was also final. He refused to get invovled
Noomane Raboudi is a great professor, but as a first-year student, I would not recommend him as classes with him are very difficult. If you study or do your paper last minute you will regret it. He does give out a lot of reading to do and the deadlines are not too great (not much time to do papers) Get ready to participate as well.
Within this first year class, I had a lot of reading to do, some just on the sidelines and others that were graded. Your final grade is well distributed among essays and final exam, where there is no midterm. His lectures seem to lose their meaning and sounds like he's often just rambling on about nonsense, but he does post the majority online.
Hires the worst TAs, your grade in the course is 100% dependant on which TA you have. You could hand in trash to one of them and they'll drag you through while your friend could have produced the same thing and get an A- and they refuse to review your grades. Jerome Blanchet Gravel still haunts me, worst TA ever. Grade redeemed by final, bless prof
This prof is brutal. He goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with whats on the slide. He makes it through about 1/4 of the slides before class ends and then asks student to read them on their own time. The exam has nothing to do with course material it focuses on the "deeper analysis" he attempts to explain in lectures.
He doesn't often use the slideshow in lectures, so it is hard to follow. Most lectures were class discussions where info wouldn't be repeated. The exam was not what he told us it would be, and included materials we hadn't discussed. You also need to read and summarize a difficult book for this class. Good prof, but not for first years.
TA lost my exam, the exam was disorganized, unclear and didn't relate to the subject taught in class. Prof never uses the slides and goes off on topics not related to the notes, but they're interesting. Almost everyone I spoke to says that they dont remember what hey learned. Just dont take his classes.
Lectures have the potential to be super interesting, and he insists on a lot of student participation and is always very respectful. Sometimes he gets a little too passionate and rambles. Study the old tests he provides to succeed on the final - they're literally the same - but be prepared to read - 55% of the grade are summaries.
This prof talks non stop during class. We literally spend 3 hours talking about one sentence. I wouldn't go to class because I don't find it useful. However, if you skip 1 class he takes off 8% of your final grade which is completely ridiculous. I don't recommend.
As a prof, Raboudi is ok. He goes on on tangents and the class is hard to follow. More of a seminar than a lecture. You'll be confused. Beware of his TA's. If you get a nice one, you're lucky cause the one this semester was flat out mean. Final was open book, no MT, 8 page research essay and a book review. 10% is attendance, so go. It'll save you.
Mr. Raboudi is very energetic and funny. He can make an 8:30 AM class not boring and entertaining. His lectures are not heavy and notes are provided for every class. He gives us a lot of resources and pieces of advice because he really does care for our success and it was very apparent.
Très bon professeur. Cours hyper interessant.
Raboudi's lectures are light, albeit a bit hard to follow because he goes on tangents. Exams are fairly easy- open book and it's all about using your own critical analysis when relating to course material. Overall, it was pretty laid back class, just ensure that you do the readings and participate in class discussions. All the best!
I don't know what compels you to take this class unless it is mandatory. This man will spend 3 hours talking about one line. I swear on all my notes, all he talked about is legitimite. You get 4 resumes to do, 2 DGDs and final exam. Have fun with ur TA's I swear he handpicks the hard annoying ones. His lectures are easy to understand but boring.
honestly, he's the best Prof I've ever had. You need to attend classes to really understand the material, but he makes class really interesting and fun so it's okay. 10/10 if you have the chance to take his class, do it!
He's very informed on this topic and uses clear stories and anecdotes to illustrate broader ideas. This class isn't an easy A but its not difficult at all either.
Spends entire lecture on one slide. Most of the lecture is not even themed around the powerpoint, just random discussions. 4 résumé for which the TAs have to look for key words even if the job is done properly. TAs arent much help either when it comes to explaining the task. Nice prof but does not prepare you for the final, especially 1st yr.
Raboudi was the worst prof I had in my first year. He gives very little effort to the course. He makes it known on the first day that teaching is not his priority as a professor. His slides are just quotes from authors copy and pasted. The majority of your mark is based on one useless book that makes no sense. Worst class ever.
I am writing this review a year later and I still remember the course code. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G experience. This professor started me on my career path by completely changing my approach to world politics. SUBJECTIVITY becomes a variable of analysis and opens up a whole new door to the world of international relations. 11/10 - unapologetically real.
A wonderful course taught by a wonderful professor. Take advantage of his expertise and go see him in office hour. TAs do most of the grading, and establishing a relationship with him and running concepts by him throughout the course to confirm your understanding will help you have a clear idea of the expectations. Low-stress open book final.
Shocked at the praise he was given by others, a disappointing professor to have. I stopped going to class by midterm season because I would have no notes on what he was talking about. Never stayed on the topic or followed the slideshows. You do not need to go to his class or read, have a good relationship with your TA and do well on the resume
Prof. Raboudi took some getting used to and I definitely hated his class for the first month. As a 1st Year French Immersion student, I felt really overwhelmed by the difficulty of the readings but the more I stuck with it, the easier it got. There is no midterm and most of the marks are divided into four essays submitted throughout the semester.
Learnt a lot from him. Although you dont have to go to class to do well I think his classes are very helpful. 55% is summaries based on one book and another passage so get ready to read. Basically if you put the work in you'll get a good result. 2 graded discussions worth 5% each never read the book but was helpful for those
I liked Prof. Raboudi's lectures (and him as a person), but the course makeup was strange. 65% of the final mark was split between four summaries and two discussions. The summaries and discussions were fairly simple, but his final exam was killer. Make sure to study throughout the semester, or else you won't be prepared (as there is no midterm).
Lectures are long, boring, confusing, and goes off topic very often. He never prepared us for the final exam & expected to have everything weve studied during the semester in that one final . It was a lot to digest certainly for a first year. Many drop out and This gives political science a bad name. Get another prof or take it in English instead
You need to attend his lectures and make sure you take detailed notes. His exam was based on things he said in class and weren't all on the PowerPoints. He's a nice person, don't be afraid to go ask him questions during office hours. Also go see your TA's as often as you can because they're the ones doing all the grading and will be a big help
You've gotta focus and note what he says as this is what his final is made up of, dw about his slides too much. The majority of your mark is divided between 4 summaries. For these I'd recommend establishing a relationship with your TA as it will be them to grade you. For the final, review everything he said in class and pray.
I dropped this class as soon as I heard him speak. I did not comprehend what he was saying the entire time.
he is a good teacher
Honestly, one of the best teacher I ever had. He really wants students to learn. He will make you learn to read and to think by yourself. You should take his class if you want to become a free thinker. I had his classes for many years and I learned so much.
Really caring professor. I've had him during the Fall 2020 term and he was always considerate of the students, making sure the workload was manageable, etc. He is also soo inspiring and will really change your way of thinking! I'm so lucky I took his class, it was very interesting and he was very kind. Would recommend.
The professor is very caring about his students - he is very flexible and genuinely wants to see you succeed. However, he is quite disorganized at times and goes on long tangents. If you prefer a more straight-forward teaching style, he might not be the right prof for you.
Literally the most amazing professor at Uottawa. His lectures are more about discussion and genuinely learning about the topics than just memorizing information. One of the few professors that makes Uottawa look good!
10/10 teacher. although his teaching style is unique he is one of the most interesting and passionate profs i've ever had. you can tell he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. i can't wait to take another course with him
Professor Raboudi is one of my favourite professors ever. I am entering my fourth year of my program and have had a few classes taught by him since. Prof Raboudi loves to engage his students and loves launching class wide discussions which are super engaging. If you participate in class and answer his questions, you are sure to get a good grade.
He is an unconventional prof., in a good way. He makes you really think about the stuff you are learning, rather than using power points and textbooks (might not be a good thing for everyone). His lectures typically act as supplementary information as both exams were easily done using the Powerpoints posted on the course page.
He's clearly one of my favourite professors, thanks to his way of teaching and talking about his experience we learn a lot without even knowing.
He's arrogant and doesn't know how to use technology, which can at times hinder ability to learn. Engaging but can be a bit much. Gives lots of extensions sometimes without asking
I loved his energy that he brought during lectures. He was so engaging and really committed to helping students succeed. He is one of those of rare people that you can really tell love their job. I hope I can have him as a prof again.
The teacher can make you learn a lot without you knowing because he's hilarious and serious at the same time and that's what make him a good professor. You remember things because he finds his own way to make you understand, and you get that just after some weeks with him.
You really have to focus in class, because the mid term and final will have questions relating to his lectures. Can be hard to follow.
M. Raboudi is probably the best professor I've ever had! He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His class is very fun and everything that we learn is useful. M. Raboudi knows what he talks about and is very knowledgeable in Political science. Definitely one of the most educated and intelligent profs out there!
You want to learn how to learn? Take this class. Does not rely on slides, but teaches through demonstrations, questions, discussions, showing links between ideas. Non conventional, but very passionate and it shows. 3 summaries plus midterm and exam, both take home with all answers discussed in class or in notes on BS. Could not recommend more!
Prof. Raboudi cares a lot about his students' success and he's very lenient with due dates and grading. He is very very passionate about the subject and makes lectures really engaging. Unless you're like me and prefer when profs read from slideshows, then you should definitely take this class! Learned lots about poli sci, but also critical thinking
Great professor all around! Has been truly a delight taking his class. He is very caring and authentic well teaching this class and explains very tough concepts with ease. The class was styled in a group discussion format so do the readings and take notes. assignments and the final exam were easy if you did the readings, due dates were flexible.
Where do I start. His lectures have nothing to do with the assignments. He asks you to read multiple sets of 60 pages on advanced political science theories (not discussed in class) and asks you to summarize it in 800-1200 words. He handpicks TA's from hell and they give you no help or guidance all year but they just love handing out bad grades.
Constantly asking questions to the class and refusing pretty much any answer the students give. His teachings aren't super precise and straightforward, but you do get the basic understanding of what you're learning. Kind of hard to follow in lectures imo but the tests are open book and you can find most of your answers on BrightSpace.
Very caring and passionate teacher! He gives a lot of attention, care, comprehension to his students. There's a lot of writing papers and assignments to do, but if you follow the instructions it is manageable to get good grades. Regarding the tests, you need to be present during his lectures and follow carefully the lectures content.
super gentil et encourageant.
The bad reviews come from those who refuse to learn and challenge themselves to think. His lectures were the best lectures ever in my whole university experience. So caring and very passionate about his students. Easy grader A+ & very understanding of extensions. All he asks is that u listen + think critically, that's all. Best prof @uottawa 10/10!
Perhaps the best professor in the faculty of social science, and he actually understands the Middle East and the process of democratization, unlike a lot of outside observers.
An incredible professor! Outstanding knowledge of the "Middle East" and, in general terms, of Arab philosophy and thought. I would recommend Noomane Raboudi to anyone at uOttawa. NB: if you do not participate in class or make an effort, then you will be lost (there are lots of discussions and no PP presentations)
One of the best teachers I ever had, he is really interesting and interested about what he is saying. With him, I was able to improve and the lectures are great. I recommend if you like to read and if you're looking for a real political class. This teacher likes to go deep and to challenge yourself to think outside the box.
Professor Raboudi is one of the best professors at the University of Ottawa. I took POL3164 (Politics in the Middle East) this semester and it was the best class I've ever taken. Instead of reading power points the entire class, professor Raboudi has engaging discussions with his students. I would 100% recommend others to take this class!
Pretty unclear expectations for assignments. Lectures are brief and mostly debate among students. Raboudi has an interesting perspective but we barely hear from him. Not good at responding to emails. Class structure is all over the place. First grade came back just a few weeks before end of course, which is not allowed. Grading was strict.
Didn't have him much, he got sick and left but for the classes i had him, he was very funny, loves to simplify everything (even nicely scolds when someone gives a complicate answer to his questions in class) and explains really really well.
He yelled at me during a meeting to talk about my mark...
I will say that he does have good lectures, other than that not much else. 20% of the class is based on participation - if you miss class from experience it's hard to get the points back. He does have clear guidelines for doing assignments too but don't try emailing because you will have to wait for an answer. A nice prof, but would not recommend.
Professor Raboudi is a great professor who does not read off slides, which helped a lot in understanding and learning about politics. However, the class is 20% attendance, and participation is mandatory, which I found unfair, especially since he only gives a few selective people a chance to talk half the time, and POL3164 is overwhelming.
would yell for no reason when asking him a question
He is really entertaining and his lectures were very fun and engaging. Participation was a big aspect of this course and attendance was taken for each class. He is a very interesting and funny guy, I would 100% take another one of his classes if I could. Although he does not use powerpoints or handouts.
the lessons with Professor Raboudi are very interesting and not boring! he says what he thinks and it may not be politically correct! but we like that! group work is encouraged, as is participation.
Does not teach anything yet extremely tough grader. Each class consists of a student presenting a reading. He barely puts any effort into teaching. Disrespectful towards students and our time. Extremely unclear evaluation criteria. Does not respond to emails. Wasted 12 weeks on this class and I did not learn anything.
I came to college for profs like this. I literally graduated 5 months ago and am coming back to write him a good review. Incredibly knowledgeable and invested professor; he cares so deeply for the subject he teaches and yeah he can seem a little crazy sometimes, but I rather that than an apathetic, boring prof. Good dude
The lectures were engaging, though attendance and participation were mandatory. The grading was strict, but Unstuckstudy proved a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, an interesting class with a knowledgeable professor.
Noomanes classes are funny and hilarious, dont take it too seriously and you will find it entertaining. check the power points for the résumés and the final exam and you will do just fine! You do not have to go to lectures, but it will certainly seem challenging at first. My advice: don't take it too seriously and take in the entertainment before u
The prof is very passionate. However, there is no communication between the TA's and the prof. The rubric also is not reliable for most tasks. If you don't do well on the first assignment I suggest you ask for more feedback from your TA. After I understood the grading criteria from the person grading my average significantly increased.
Soooo many useless readings - don't even do them. he was so funny and unserious and you can tell he is passionate. my class was online and I barely listened by managed. Only thing I would say is take the resumes seriously. You just need to read them and summaries. Also a down side, takes forever to get your grades back so be patient.
Too many useless readings ( you can pass the class if you don't read them). There is no communication between him and the TA's!!!!! DOESN'T GIVE CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE EXAMS !!! Hoewever his exams are pretty easy ( you can find most of the answers on the notes he posts online) If this class isn't mandatory don't take it.
the topics learnt in class were relatively interesting & the TA's were generous or good for the most part (despite grading taking a while) however, this professor goes off topic soo much during class — i barely learnt anything & it can be difficult to get a good answer to questions from this professor. he taught to think outside the box definetely.
The class was confusing, and the professor often went off-topic. Reading wasn't very important for grades, but it took a long time to get them back. The professor had trouble with online teaching, and it would have been better in person.
He disrespects his students alllll the time. He cancelled two 3 hour lectures and never replaced them, he would yell and then say it's just "enthusiasm" The worst part is that i'm now taking a class that's supposed to build on what we learned in POL1501 but Raboudi didn't teach anything so I have to teach myself everything.
Professor Raboudi is very engaging and his class is very interesting. He also teaches very well. However, there are many texts to read that don't seem mandatory to succeed the class and you don't know which TA corrects your work which makes getting feedback especially hard and confusing. Also, the final exam is very tricky so pay close attention.
I took Mr. Raboudi for granted
I would stay away from this man as he grades however he pleases and won't make the effort to read anything in English.Redundent, and not well organized at all.If he likes you he will give you good marks... he also didn't show up for a class with no warning and will be slow at grading because he's "too sick". Overall he doesn't care
Great teacher
Noomane is one of the most awesome professors of the University
Raboudi was way too nice, he often let students take over and make the class super chaotic with their questions and comments. He is actually very smart and has a lot to say when students listen. He is also a very interesting person. I've been to one of his other courses in person and I would recommend them over online, he controls the class better
Professor Raboudi cares very little about the content he presents in class. Slides are from 2009 and he refuses to respond to emails. The course was easy and attendance was not necessary at all. Good for an easy grade but not for actually learning.
Such a wise man!
Of the eighty people that took this course with me, only the ten who attended and participated in class regularly got their tuition's worth. Raboudi is an eccentric yet legendary professor. Go to class. If you allow him, he WILL make you uncomfortable as he forces you to challenge everything you know about the Middle East. Enjoy it.
