Professor Noor is a funny guy but a terrible teacher. He tries to explain the material, but half the time gives out the wrong answers. When you use his answers you get marked down. Slightly pushy and exams are very tough and confusing. Homework is due every class period. Good thing is that class was 1,000 points. Study, ask questions, and good luck

For what it's worth, I found this prof was truly interested in students' learning. His scenarios made you think and understand other's ideas/ arguments. Discussions taught how to formulate ideas, express them to others, and argue logically. The prof never seemed opinionated to me, and he made the class comfortable to express their ideas openly.

he's a kind guy but he/his assignments can be confusing and expectations weren't always clear. The material is already difficult and he can tend to make things more complicated than need be. He does curve exams and gives retakes on assignments if you just ask. You can tell he wants his students to succeed. tip: take advantage of his office hours.

worst professor ive had in my four years at this school. take this class if you want to study for hours and still fail every assignment, be constantly confused, be notified last minute of assignments and utterly hate your life. Makes everything way harder than it needs to be and consistently pisses off the class with his unorganization

Goes through what should be a 1.5 hour lab at a snails pace stretching it to 3 hours. If you try to get ahead and have a question he will just tell you to wait. He is a very nice man and obviously cares about his students and gives extra credit for coming to office hours. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to understand him through his thick accent.

He is incredibly hard to understand and does not understand what students are asking when they have questions so the explanations just make everyone more confused. Overall he is a very smart and caring person just very difficult to understand which makes it difficult to complete labs.

Avoid taking this professors class AT ALL COSTS. Please do not let the few good reviews fool you, this class was by far the WORST class I have ever taken. He is rude and demeaning to anyone who asks questions. Exams are impossible, they have to be curved by 30% or more to pass. Save yourself the most stressful semester ever and do NOT take him.

You can tell Noor is a good man at heart but he was not very helpful during lab. Very confusing instructions even when you ask for extra help. Lab usually takes all 3 hours bc he stretches it out. You'll have better luck doing it by yourself at home. If you're patient and a self learner, this class is for you. If not, avoid this prof for lab

DO NOT TAKE HIM! He never had a clue what we were supposed to be doing. He constantly confused the whole class. He was also rude claiming that no one was listening when questions were asked and tried to blame students for his own mistakes. Also he would not let anyone get full credit on assignments. Frequent yelling arguments with students.

Do not take Professor Ghiasvand if you want to understand Human Genetics. He taught the information very ineffectively and refused to answer questions in an effective way. He would basically just make fun of you for having that question and would restate his answer as proof as to why you were wrong. He was no help in trying to understand the info.

This is the worst class I've ever taken. I haven't learned a single thing. He is extremely demeaning when answering questions, and has no train of thought when lecturing. His slides make no sense and are basically just the textbook copy and pasted. Be prepared to teach yourself, attendance is mandatory but lecture is a waste of time.

I've learned absolutely nothing in this class so far. He can never answer questions clearly and constantly confuses the whole class. He is very unorganized and assigns things with very little notice. All work for this class is timed, including assignments, so you can never just work on things at your own pace. Already regret taking this class.

I remember on the first day, he told us "99.9% of all the content for homework, quizes and exams would come from the book." Turns out, that's not true at all. The questions are insanely difficult and you absolutely are NOT prepared to answer them by simply reading the book, nor by listening to his lectures.

Dr. Ghiasvand is smart, but he's not fit to teach. He made genetics WAY harder than it ever had to be. He consistently has errors in his own quizzes. Grades extremely inconsiderately, with the whole class failing. He also refuses to do anything about it stating "I can't figure out blackboard ultra" Just take this online for your own mental health

I have been confused this entire semester. He has a lot of online quiz/assignments but they frequently have typos or errors. My class has been doing *horrible* on the exams and he ends up curving them heavily. I feel like i've been teaching myself genetics this entire semester. If you can take anyone else I highly suggest that you do.

This man genuinely has no idea what he's doing. This class is an absolute mess. He does not prepare you for the exams at all. You're lucky if you even get a 50%. He also makes tons of errors and expect students to fix them for him. I'm usually a straight A student and this class is going to ruin my GPA.

For the love of god PLEASE STAY AWAY from this man he is just plain horrible. Sure he may be a "smart guy" but he cannot teach to save his life. It's like he blindfolds himself whenever he makes his curriculum constant errors and typos across everything he has handed out including exams and quizzes. Does not make an effort to listen or change.

This class was AWFUL. I'm not a bad student but this class made me feel dumb. All of the tests have errors so you basically have to guess and hope for the best. He ends up curving the exams(usually) by a lot. But this class was painful to take. I would take anyone else if you can.

He gets a bad wrap because of how many mistakes he makes but I think it is important to keep in mind that he is not tech savy at all, his past/background explains a lot of his behavior, and he is going through an extremely tough time in his life (at the time I took his class). He is the smartest man I have ever met and he cares about his students.

Can't advise you enough to not take Ghiasvand's BIO355. Switched to the online class under a different professor where I finished with a 4.0. Ghiasvand's lectures are not organized. Penalizes student for his mistakes, ie had 100% on a quiz when submitted, only for my grade to drop after later in the week. Does not answer questions clearly.

AWFUL. Exams are not passable, include typos and missing vital information in the questions half the time so you can't even answer them. Curves them a ton but you'll never get a good grade. I have an A in every other class this semester and just got into a master's program, but could not understand what the heck I was doing the entire semester.
