She's a good professor, i didn't do that well because i had trouble understanding the subject!..i tried but it wasn't easy for me. But she does give out extra credit and helps you when you ask!..she was always available on the weekends through webcourses..Thank You professor for your help! (just in case you read this)
Great teacher. Goes over plenty of examples for each concept. Very easy to get an A. Study a half hour after each lecture and an hour before the test and youre golden. No textbook needed. Lots of extra credit given. Very good teacher. TAKE HER.
She is very helpful and goes over many examples in class. It is a lot of memorization! Grade is mostly complied of the exam grades. She does drop the lowest exam grade and 4 lowest homework grades. I'd recommend this teacher. If you do the aplia homework you should be fine.
She is really nice and helpful, and tries to make economics fun and interesting for us environmental majors (to me economics is SO boring). I only used the textbook maybe once or twice, you really don't need it. You have to attend class as she gives out assignments there that you can't make up and also she doesn't put notes online.
She is a good teacher. The subject requires a lot of study but it is possible. Book helps with homework. There are three mid-terms. She drops the lowest score. Exams aren't easy, especially the final. But if you study it's all possible. Her lectures help very much.
Great teacher, very helpful, study about an hour before each test and you will be fine.
She's nice and very good at explaining, you can tell she loves to teach. She seems to care about her students a lot more than most of my professors. Exams can be hard but you should be okay if you take good notes and study. Oh and her voice is a little weird, but I highly recommend Dr Underwood!
I LOVE HER. I had an online captured test and she's brilliant. The class is definitely anything but easy, but I can honestly say I have learned a lot from her and look forward to pursuing my career in business because of this class. Watch every online capture and do the homework and for the tests you should be fine. Book didn't do much for me.
Her lectures help a lot and she does a really good job at explaining concepts/formulas and providing several examples. If you read through the chapter once and watch her lectures you'll do great. She also offers a few opportunities of extra credit throughout the semester
Good teacher. Clear explanations, fair grading. Lots of extra credit. Take her.
The reason why I am an econ major :) Class is enlightening and an extremely easy A
Lectures aren't bad, but holy god is her voice annoying (she sounds like a goat). Poor review sessions. Gives out review worksheets and doesn't give the answers. DO NOT TAKE
Exams are super easy, and there is a lot of extra credit. I got a 99 A and never read a page of the book. The lectures are a must however. Highly, highly recommended by me.
This class isn't too difficult. There are 3 exams(she drops the lowest one),final,&hw quizzes. The trick to this is doing well on the first and second exam so you have more wiggle room for your final. She gives extra credit opportunities, which help, do them!To the guy who says she doesn't put answers on worksheets, she goes over them in the lecture
Exams are not that easy but she teaches very well. I suggest going to class to take notes for homework and tests. Take her for ECO 2023!
Underwood is relly goo teacher. If you haven't taken economics before then this class may be difficult; she moves throuh material quickly. Her lectures have different information from the text. If you're struggling, go to office hours and she's happy to help. Also, there are a lot of grade padding assignments.
Took her for capture lecture. Great course, professor is very good at explaining concepts and helps review the material before exams. Overall, she is very lenient when it comes to grades so it's very easy to do well in this course
Easy class, especially if you've taken macro. She lets you do the homework 3 times and takes your average. Drops your lowest test grade and 3 lowest quizzes. Gives out extra credit as well. I got an A.
This is a required class for the environmental science major and she's the only one that teaches it. She does not take attendance but she does not use any slides or anything you can access outside of class so you have to go to class everyday to learn the material. Its a tough class.
This class sucks. Her test are tricky. Make sure you get extra help when you can because when you ask her for help, she barely gives you the answer you NEED.
She is adorable, I mean I spent my class time on Twitter but I still managed to do well in the class. The book is expensive, I didn't. I just did the homework and used the homework to study for the test. Sapling (HW site) explains everything pretty well.
Easy A :) Nice professor. Lectures were sort of boring, but I honestly can't understand how people found this class difficult. No note card for regular exams, but you do get to bring one for the final.
Dr. Underwood gives you a lot of opportunities to do well in this course; she drops 1 exam, 3 homework assignments, and gives you extra credit assignments. The lectures are boring and I think Sapling is the worst homework site, but this class is pretty easy. The tests can get tricky though so it's good to know the concepts inside and out.
I loved this teacher. Her biggest flaw is that she talks so slow and drawls out words like "and". BUT. I took it with lecture capture online, which you can speed up, so with that feature her class was fantastic!
The class was kind of boring so I missed some lectures (only 3 out of the semester) but missing any day is a big deal because she doesn't have notes online or anything, but it's really hard to pay attention in class because the lecture is kind of boring. If you read the book and pay attention I'm sure you'll get a good grade
Great class. Tests weren't too difficult and she drops the lowest test. Her voice is kind of annoying but she's a great teacher. Definitely recommend her.
I really enjoyed having Dr. Underwood as a teacher. She's really sweet and nice and she's a good teacher. The material gets harder in the end- but if you put forth your time and effort you'll do great in the class.
Incredibly helpful and nice teacher. She checks webcourses almost daily to help students with questions. Explains topics in different ways to help you understand better. Offers 4% final grade extra credit and drops lowest test and 3 hw assignments. Book isnt really necessary but it will help a lot with studying. Recommend taking her for any class.
After taking this course with her, I'm dumbfounded that her rating on here is so low. Incredibly easy class if you actually put in the effort to study the notes *she provides* and the test reviews she puts up. If you're trying to take ECO-2023, take it with Underwood regardless of other comments here.
This class is very easy, I'm surprised her rating isn't higher. She explains things clearly and she reviews before exams. Her exams are straight forward, which I love. She doesn't try to trick you and provides multiple extra credit opportunities! Overall she's a wonderful professor, I would recommend this class to anyone taking ECO2023!
In high school i took microeconomics and did not learn a thing because i had a cranky teacher that was absolutely terrible. Ms. Underwood is the complete opposite, she is very helpful and nice, and teaches economics very well. She gives out study guides for the tests, which are very straightforward and not very hard. Take Ms. Underwood for Micro!
Very knowledgeable teacher, makes expectations clear form Day 1. Plenty of extra credit opportunity. Watch the lectures, review them, get your homework done and you don't need the book at all.
She was an awesome professor! Made class really fun and easy to understand. The tests are not easy and there is a decent amount of homework but it is not difficult to get a good grade in her class. She is more than willing to help her students.
If you do the homework and show up to class, you'll get a good grade easy.
Good teacher!! Homework is mandatory but it is really helpful and her TA olivia was the best!!!! Good class
Mrs. Underwood is an excellent teacher. She explains the key concepts very clearly and with enough detail for her students to grasp them. Her tests were very straightforward and she also provided several extra credit opportunities. I would highly recommend her, as she is very knowledgeable and informative.
Great teacher for micro. Explains concepts thoroughly and willing to help students understand better. Homework and exams are easy if you watch the lectures/attend class. Easy class as long as you watch/attend the classes. Definitely recommended!
Don't buy the textbook. Pay attention in class, take good notes, and do the classwork and you should have no problem getting an A or B. Very helpful and such a sweet professor who really cares about her students.
I took this class through the tegrity lecture captures so I really liked that I could watch the lectures at my own convenience. Professor Underwood is honestly a really good teacher. She knows exactly what she is talking about and breaks down the subject matter enough to where it's really easy to understand. Just make sure you study.
Wonderful professor! I did the dual streaming class so I watched all the lectures online but she was always very clear and made so much sense when she was explaining topics. The only thing about the class was the sapling homework was wayyy harder than the examples she'd provide.
Not an easy A but if you do go to class and understands her lectures that you will do fine on tests. Three 40 question test (drops one) and the final is mandatory
I liked this class. I find economics very interesting, and I have a good understanding of the concepts. I barely got my A, but I never read the book and rarely watched the lecture. She makes economics easy to understand. Just make sure you know how to apply the principles to different kinds of questions.
Had her for macroeconomics. She's a really nice lady and she'll always help you if you ask her questions, but her lectures are very boring and her voice is really annoying. She made us use an online study tool that came with the book for homework but her tests aren't like the homework assigned. So study her notes and study guides instead of that.
Took the video streaming. This was the most difficult class I took my freshman year. Her voice is so hard to listen to, and the tests are hard. Homework is probably the worst part and is due every week. Try to take a different professor plz.
Her class is very easy and simple watch the lectures/ go to class take notes if you like (I never did) and do the weekly hw during test time she does a review plus she drops your lowest test score. That being said I feel like you either get eco or you don't and for those who struggle I feel its more their inability rather than her teaching
Either you get ECO or you don't at all. She is honestly a great teacher and bases her tests similar to her examples from the PPT lectures as well as definitions. I like ECO a lot more now because of her. Watch her lectures, do the homework (correlates with online textbook word for word) and study from PPT and you're set for an A!
Her tests are a bit harder than what she covers in class but if you study for them, you will get at least a B. Make sure you recieve all 100's on the myeconlab homework and you will be fine. Study hard before tests. Take advantage of this Gen. Ed. you'll regret it if you dont.
She was really great! The class was difficult but if you do the homework and study you will be fine! I bought the older version of the textbook and it worked just fine!
Good teacher, hard subject. Take her but make sure to study! Exams are worded differently than HW.
she teaches fine but the examples she use in here lecture is very easy one on the exams. They are way more difficult. I found that reading the chapter is a way better way to prepare for her test.
Class is very easy as long as you watch and pay attention to every lecture. I did not do well on the first test; however, that one was dropped and I received A's on the two remaining tests and final. Really going over her exam review lecture and making notecards helped. Make sure you maintain an A homework average. Btw I never used study cube
I liked micro better than macro (with Euzent). Watch every lecture and review the homework before tests. She does a great job with ppts and explaining problems. Just make sure you really understand the concepts because the tests are more difficult. She's also really funny which helps when you're watching 6 lectures the night before an exam!
Professor Underwood-Caputo knows how to simplify otherwise difficult material. I never used my book––partly because I didn't get one, mostly because I didn't need it––which, in this case, is a compliment to both the professor and her class. She goes over the material for each chapter (obviously), but further reviews before each exam.
test are extremely hard, homework is very easy
Basically her tests are extremely hard. Most of the test mean scores were D's She offered office hours before her class. (which doesn't actually help..) The homework is easy enough the book is a MUST!!! but the tests are confusing.. she's not very good at wording her test questions. good luck yo!
Awful professor! She rants about Econ but doesn't help at all. Her tests are ridiculously hard. She's a pretty bad professor, although she is quite nice. I suggest taking someone else for Macro if you actually want to get a good grade and LEARN.
I have no interest in economics and I managed to get a B with Professor Underwood-Caputo. It wasn't an easy class but it was far from impossible. I'm about to take my second class with her because I like how she taught the first one I had. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to understand the subject. (I'm a fan of lecture-capture as well!)
Pretty easy professor. Never opened the book once and only listened to a few lectures and got a B. The hw is incredibly easy you get 3 attempts at the same question for every one. Tests aren't easy but the trick is to watch the review lecture she does before every exam and pay close attention it helps a lot. Drops lowest exam score, take her.
Her lectures are pretty boring but they're crucial to this class. The tests can be kind of tough, especially if you don't study. The homework is time consuming but it's not too bad. Reading is important and there a plenty of assignments.
She gives homework problems (That tell you when its wrong so just keep doing until you get 100%) there are things like flash cards (easy 100) the tests are tough but the hw and flash cards make it easy to keep an A. I ended up liking the class.
This class is absolutely horrible. Do not take her, she purposely makes the tests unreasonably difficult and adds questions to the exams that you don't cover in the homework. The way she talks is even bad and irritating. If you read the textbook and study the homework's lecture slides then maybe you'll get a C.
Not the best professor, the tests she makes are nothing like the review or homework assignments. She does communicate with students quickly and answers any questions. If you take this class, you will have to work for your grade and be willing to teach yourself.
She's awesome!!! Her lectures give you all the info you need and her in class assignments are key to boosting your grade, so show up to class! Her tests can be tough so take advantage of getting help. She's also funny, so get to know her- it'll make the class more fun too!
I took the online course with her as the instructor. I didn't speak with her once, nor any of her TA's. She has a great policy in terms of homework assignments and I sort of winged most of the exams and ended up with B's on all of them. If you know anything about economics and are willing to put in a little work she's fab.
4 tests, 1 gets dropped and then a final. Homework is hard the beggining of the semester, then gets easier. Clear and lenient grading system, 2 homework grades are dropped. Took online. She does a review before every test, very helpful. If you put an average amount of effort in, you should get an A.
Avoid this class. Very hard and time consuming. Concepts are hard to understand, and tests are near impossible. If you do take the class, buy the books and put her lectures on double speed. Otherwise, they are very very monotonous.
You have to study hard for tests. Make sure you keep up with lectures and watch them all (recommend 1.5-2 speed). There is a lot of added cushion to your grade, with fairly simple homework and extra credit. Final Exam is extremely tough. Overall though, not too awful if you like economics and get a good grasp of concepts.
As a student who loves school and is particularly good at it, I have to say this is the hardest class that i've ever taken. Professor Underwood's tests are nothing like anything that she teaches. This class is HARD. The average on all of the tests were 60's. If it wasn't for all of the homework assignments, i wouldn't have gotten a B.
Teacher is nice and answers emails quickly. However, tests were extremly hard and confusing. Each test had a 55-75 average. Extra credit was sometimes given. Attendanc wasnt required (lecture capture online class) but watching the reviews was helpful. Textbook isnt necessary but maybe helpful. Overall i didnt like the class but the teacher was nice
Since the class has the online video component it's easy to miss class. With this course it is difficult to miss class and still do well. There are 3 tests then he final exam. The lowest score gets dropped. Must do well on the tests.
Exams are nothing like her lectures. Take any other professor for economics. Her exam reviews are cover nothing on the exam, making it difficult to study.
Attending class is not necessary, as there is video capture, but attending the live lectures really helped me understand the material! Dr Underwood-Caputo is clear about her expectations, grading and gives multiple reminders as to due dates and test dates. She makes herself available for any questions you have- just be sure to do your assignments.
She makes the test very difficult. Watch all the lectures or you won't pass. Do all the homework assignments.
Took her for macro and micro. Love her!!!!!! she is by far my favorite teacher. you always end up getting one letter grade higher on your final grade. she wants you to succeed.
Took her for both Macro and Micro (The Live Capture). She is a GREAT teacher, watch & pay attention to her lectures you will learn a lot. She gives you 1 online HW assignment a week that is usually a breeze. People seemed to struggle on her tests (???) but I found them to be easy and straightforward (All I did to study was watch her review class)
She takes this class way to seriously and makes it much than it needs to be for an entry level macro class. If you can, I would avoid her and find a more fair grader for a prof.
SUCH A HARD CLASS! If you can, take Micro first! The teacher herself is helpful and tries to be there for you as much as possible, but being online I didn't expect to need to watch recorded lectures. Got behind and struggled. Tests seemed more complicated than the homework on many levels. Need to keep up with due dates to keep up your grade.
I will attempt to be objective as possible. Dr. Nora Underwood is a good teacher. She drops the lowest test score, & the 2 lowest homework scores. She also gives out 5 extra credit opportunities. Her EXAMS ARE INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT! Even when I studied hard and thought I scored at least a C I failed. With that being said, take only if you have to
It sucks that she is the only teacher for this class because she is terrible!!! Take micro instead if you can!! Her tests are the hardest things in the world. She gives extra credit but you will still not do well. There is so much pointless homework too. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Professor Underwood-Caputo is awesome. I found her lectures funny and intriguing. Homework, but it's spaced out so it's not bad at all. Very good at teaching the material and easy to understand. Just watch the lectures, do the homework, and study for tests and you'll be fine. It is hard to fail her class if you put in some effort. (online lectures)
The class is 20% Homework 80% Tests and 5% extra credit. Tests are probably the hardest part about the class but she does do a review in class and their is a TA to help. She also curved 3% at the end but that is not typical from what I have heard. But if you're like me and can get C's on all the exams but do all your homework a B+ is possible.
This class was brutal. She does reviews before the tests, but they barely cover what's going to be on them. Would often give basic versions of problems during reviews and then have topics she barely grazed over or said wouldn't be on there on the test. Final is cumulative and horrible, even with a notecard. Does offer extra credit, which saved me.
She's teaching a class of roughly 1,300 people so I give her a little slack. BUT... her tests are BRUTAL. She gives reviews but she never covers what the majority is on tests. HW's and other assignments are no help for test prep. She does give extra credit so DON'T pass those up. Final was cumulative... I almost died. In short she leaves unprepared
Class is hard, didn't watch single lecture. Get the study cube its wroth it. Study 3-4 days in advance. Read the book, and she curves at the end, but only 3 points. do extra credit.
Absolutely brutal class. She is a number cruncher and the entire class is based on math. Tests are the hardest I've ever encountered and she does a review for each one that doesn't cover all the material for the test. I had to drop after a month and a half of struggling. Re-took it as a transient student at Valencia and got an A. Avoid this class.
Lecture capture class. Didn't watch any lectures, her voice is nails on a chalkboard. Homework once a week online, not that hard. Exams are difficult, STUDY. Changed her own grading scale after final exams were released.
Her lectures are a little boring though the information is conveyed alright. The tests are tough, though she has other assignments and extra credit to kind of help as well.
Took her for Summer B. Clear with lectures and tests are pretty easy if you do the work and study.
Dr. Underwood is a great teacher. Her lectures are long. The tests are dificult. You must READ. Only going to the lecture or listening to it won't get you an A.
Took summer B. Had three midterm but had the chance to redo for extra credit. Keeps best two. Learn smart and HW. Read chapters!
I personally liked this class and I am not a big fan of economics. I could've done better if I would've focused more. Easy but very helpful homework. I didn't watch all of the video lectures wish I would've. She has a great personality, and is very helpful.
Great professor. I am a science major with absolutely no business background and was a little nervous taking this class due to the different reviews I heard. However, Underwood made the class very manageable and offered many opportunities for extra credit. I did not use the textbook at all, only watched the lectures and got a high A in the course.
Great teacher overall. I recommend going to class even though it is not required. I found the tests to be difficult. Gave 3 midterms but dropped the lowest and a final.
She is very kind and clear in her teaching. However, this class is not easy. All homework is online. She gives 3 tests, other than the final, but only the top 2 grades on those tests count. If you do well on the homework, you'll do okay. No need to buy a textbook.
Would study so long for her tests and thought I understood it completely only to get C's and below on all tests :-)))
Negative: Exams are tough (she drops your lowest exam) Positive: Homework and Learnsmart are easy (they count for a total of 20% of your grade and you'll easily get A's on them) So as long as you complete all of the assignments and study well for the exams you'll get an A. Plus she curves the final grades.
Tests are difficult, and there are a lot of homework assignments, but the assignments are fairly easy to get a good grade on.
The class isn't necessarily easy, but if you put effort into it, you'll receive the grade you want. There are a lot of homework assignments, but she gives ample time to complete them. 3 midterms, lowest one dropped. Two homework assignments dropped. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and curves the final exam.
Dr. Underwood is a great teacher. The class is difficult but it is do-able. I got an A in the class, but a lot of people struggled due to the fact that they did not watch lectures or read the textbook. If you are willing to do the work, you will be fine. She explains concepts very well. The textbook also helped me a lot, but that is just me.
For a class like Macro, she made it very interesting especially when the lectures are 1:15 long. My average exam grade was a 70, and I still received an 86 in the course. Homework is extremely important and it will save your grade. It is pretty easy to get an A or B in her class.
Dr. Underwood is a great teacher who knows what she is talking about. Some concepts are fairly tough but as long as you read the text and watch the lectures there shouldn't be an issue. Midterms can get a bit confusing. She is very helpful if you need to get extra help during office hours or through email.
She is a very sweet lady who will help you a lot if you go to her office hours. Not the easiest class but she does explain the material well. I would recommend taking this in a non honors version if you prefer multiple choice exams.
Doctor Underwood is an amazing teacher. I understood economics after taking her intro to micro class. I even switched my major to Economics after taking it. I'm now taking her for Development Economics as well and still feel that she is a great teacher. She is thorough and uses great, real life examples-- but don't expect to not put in some work!
Dr. Underwood is very knowledgeable in her field and tries to be engaging during her lectures, but much of her material especially in reviews is not always pertinent to the exam, and on top of that her exams are incredibly tough. However, she does drop your lowest and Homework is not very difficult and counts for 20% of your grade.
Final exam class average was a 57.4.. She does not prepare you for her tests at all, reviews and home works are nothing like the exams. She's boring to listen too and it's stupid hard for a gen ed class. Wouldn't recommend but I'm pretty sure shes the only macro teacher... So best of luck.
It is a very hard class with 1500 students, but she is fair and an A is possible with time and work. (I got a C because I never did the work.) She has two assistants and someone is always available to help. She drops the lowest TEST and two assignments. At the end of the day it is macroeconomics, so it is hard material. Don't expect an easy A
Personally didn't think the class was that hard. I mean it's college. Study and you'll be fine. It's an easy B and a workable A. For an economics course, she made the material easy to understand. Tests can be a little difficult. Drops your lowest test, lowest 2 homework and learn smart grades. Also has 2 ways of calculating your final grade.
This was one of the most difficult classes I've ever taken and the whole lecture capture format was not for me. You have to go to the testing center for exams (so if you have text anxiety like me then good luck). She curves every exam though and you get a notecard for the final. Do all the homework and EC.
Has 3 exams and they are all extremely hard. You must study for at least 2 weeks before the exam if you plan to get a B or higher. She does usually curve the exams and she gave a huge curve on your final average. If you do all the work, you should get a passing grade.
Lectures can be pretty dry, but it is macroeconomics. Tests are tough, but homework and study guides will save you here. She is fair, and it's clear she wants students to be successful.
So hard, take micro instead if u have the option. Organized class tho, learnsmart (lesson) and hw are online and easy A's. See T.A.'s and her for help. get a study group. Go over her exam reviews. know how to do every problem. you'll actually have to understand the concepts to pass this class, not just memorize them. need book!!
Very organized class, you always know what is due when and how much it counts for. If you put in the work you will get an A. This is the type of class where it is hard to get an A but easy to get a B. Stay on top of your tests, do HW in a study group and you'll be fine! She is a great prof. with awesome class structure!
If you're not a business major, take micro instead. Easier. Very generous with her grading system. One exam is dropped. Her lectures cover everything, so reading the book is more of a supplement to her lectures. Lots of hw. Very easy to get a B/C in the class.
Professor Underwood knows how to make class interesting. If you're an undergrad who needs credits, you might want to consider taking her class. However, if you're fairly new to economics and have a hard time with math (like me), you will find this course VERY difficult. Difficult but NOT impossible. USE STUDY GUIDES!!! You'll pass the tests :)
Going to lectures definitely helps, she explains the problems well. Tests are hard but if you learn the vocab, read the textbook, and understand the homework you should get a B no problem
This class is very hard :( If you are taking it online the exams are still on campus, not a true online course. She does give extra credit though, and drops grades so that's nice of her. But still a hard class, and I'm usually good at economics!
Her lectures are very clear but then I go to take the tests and it is completely different. Final exam is 3 hours to complete 80 questions and exams are extremely hard. She does give extra credit opportunities. READ THE BOOK!
If you are interested in the subject you'll enjoy this class and it will be easy, if you don't you'll definitely need to put some time into studying. Putting time into watching the lectures, taking notes and doing all the reading and homework PAYS OFF. DON'T SLACK! Got A's on all the test, it's possible.
Dont need textbook, boring class about environmental economics. She tries to make it more interesting but there's only so much you can do.
Underwood is a very good teacher that knows her stuff. The biggest problem with this class is the exams. They are pretty difficult with the class avg hovering around low Cs. It is possible to get a good grade on the exams but you really need to understand the material. If you don't get the material and don't get help, you wont pass. Good class tho.
Not a great professor if you enjoy reviews that resemble the test. Or answer keys to reviews that say "see text". Or practice tests that you can only take once and don't show you the correct answer. Take micro with scrogin if you can, the material isn't easier but the class organization is more conducive for learning. Not impossible but not easy
Homework and learn smart are not like the exams. Final exam is almost impossible to get above a 70 on.
This is of thee hardest classes I have taken my entire UCF career. Nora makes this class so much harder than it needs to be. HW is time consuming and does not help what so ever with learning the material. Her test are worded so differently than anything she goes over in class. Have I mentioned I have taken this class twice! Good luck
If you take one of her classes prepare to do all the learning on your own as her lectures are the worst. It's almost impossible to learn the material the way she teaches. There's not much work in this class and it's easy to pass but hard to ace.
This is an extremely hard class. Be prepared to study every day or at least 4 hrs a week to get an A in this class. She is a really helpful teacher, but should do more to help prep students for exams, such as making the hw as difficult as hard as the exams so you know what is expected of you. Might get a B if she curves the final. GOOD LUCK
If you are an Econ major & passionate about the subject, you will not enjoy this professor. Has no real-life business experience so teaches everything out of the book with no in-depth real-world explanation. Nothing seems to make sense & she makes everything as difficult as possible. HW is not equal to tests, tests are poorly worded, gives no help
pretty difficult. Just about the whole class struggled. The material was average as she went over in class but trying to do the homework and practice questions was very difficult. I think it would have helped if she provided a detailed answer key for each question so we knew how to do it. I think she gave a lot of extra credit to pass most students
Unless something changes, Dr. Underwood is the only macro professor. Must watch all of the lectures to pass the class. Got Ds on all 3 "midterms" and received a C on the final and managed to get a B in the class. She gives you a lot of free points and gives you 4% onto your final class grade if you do test corrections/class survey. Hard but doable!
The best economics professor so far in my life.
Seriously study, her tests are worded weird so they can be a bit tricky. She gives a huge curve at the end. She give other opportunities for extra credit but I have to say, the class is pretty difficult so don't get behind with the work.
By far the worst teacher at UCF. She's just there to collect a paycheck.
If you're not a business student and are just looking to fulfill the Social Foundations section of your gen eds, I'd recommend taking Microeconomics with David Scrogin instead. If you do take this class though, focus on doing well on HW and extra credit as they'll likely save your grade. The tests are fairly difficult, especially Exam 2.
I would prefer taking biochemistry or differential equations before taking this class.
Just don't do it.
If you do the all of the homework, the extra credit after the tests, and study a week in advance for the tests, the lowest grade you could get would be a B. She gives you the benefit of the doubt through the semester and drops a couple of grades at the end. She wants you to pass; the questions on the tests are straight from the lectures and HW
The lectures are heavy so be prepared to be writing throughout the entire class. One thing to be aware of is that she talks fast and tends to speed through the material and just expects us to know what she's talking about which is annoying. Best advice is to work on all of the practice assignments that she uploads on webcourses!
Make sure you go to class and practice repeatedly. Easily the hardest class I have taken. She does drop a couple grades and gives a curve. I took this for the requirement for environmental studies and just about the whole class struggled. She's obviously knowledgeable about the subject but goes really fast and it's hard for non-econ majors. Study.
Macroeconomics is tough in general, but the supplemental items helped significantly. There's alot of homework assignments throughout the course, but they're beyond helpful for the tests. Without these supplemental assignments, the lectures make it pretty hard to understand fully.
It is hard to find a professor that dislikes teaching more. "Just read it" something you will hear every day. She has 0 passion. But despite her lack of zeal for teaching she will make it as hard as possible and go out of her way to make you pay more $$$. If you do all the work you'll probably pass but you won't learn much and you'll hate life.
Her lectures are kinda long and tedious but the homework and lecture capture videos are online. She tells a lot of stories/jokes/examples which helps understand some of the more complicated material
Her tests and quizzes are never multiple choice, not even if math is involved, so be prepared to memorize formulas and concepts. I've had her for multiple classes and it is fill in the blank for every test.
As a non-economics major, the class is hard. She's clearly knowledgable. If you go to/watch the lectures and use the resources religiously, youll do fine. If you're lazy or slack off even a bit, youll hate yourself.. the catch-up is intense. Best advice is to just go to lectures and give it your complete attention. It's hard, but she does her best
She is a decent lecturer. She tries her best to keep everyone interested on the not-so interesting subject matter. It's not an easy class, but it wasn't too bad. She really wants you to get a good grade in her class, so she drops a few grades. Would not recommend if you don't need the credit.
Took over summer. Could either go in person or watch lectures online. Watched videos at 1.25 speed and was able to take good notes. She calculates final grade be either weighing the 3 exams or the final exam heavier (benefiting you in the end) . Gave us a notecard on an exam and final. Not that hard of a class, math portion isn't that hard
I got a 98% in this class over summer term. I only watched one of her lectures then chose to teach myself with the textbook. You have to put in the work to study, but if you do all of her review material until you know it you should be good. Outline the chapters and go over challenging concepts until you feel confident with them.
If I could go back in time, I would've never taken this class. This is probably the hardest thing I've done in my college career. The exam averages are so bad, she has to pull out ridiculous EC to make up for it. She's not a good teacher, she's knowledgeable about the subject but can't explain it to save her life. Find another professor.
Had to take this class twice even though I put in a lot of effort the first time and ended up 2 points short of passing. She definitely knows her stuff but you really have to teach yourself to really learn as her lectures are a bore. Exams are rough, grading is tough. Would not take her again
OKAY i get it, Macroeconomics is actually the hardest class i have had to take, my brain does not work well in the economic life BUT you all pretty much have to take it and NORA is the best person ever, she's cute and caring and likes to make funny jokes AND she'll respond to you in like 40 seconds
Dr. Underwood was great, but I had her lecture at 7:30 in the morning so I would usually rely on the recordings. However, attending the class in person always felt better, the lectures are fun, engaging, and really helped the information come to life.
This class is difficult, but not impossible. As long as you watch the lectures, pay attention, and work hard you can do it! After the quizzes, I went to visit the TA's and that SERIOUSLY helped. Go visit either Dr. Underwood or the TA's it helps so much for exams. She drops lowest test and homework. I enjoyed the class.
I had Professor Underwood this semester and in my honest opinion she was a great professor. Macro is a very difficult subject but with the help of her and the TA"s I was able. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and actually doing the extra credit will help you understand the content better. Her lectures are posted on webcourses.
Very difficult class. She explains everything fine the first time, but review materials are scarce. I could never find a way to explicitly review for exams other than visiting the TAs. Don't take this class unless it's for your major. You will rip your hair out.
I got a C+ in this class and it was difficult but she was an amazing professor. The best I've ever had. She lectured amazingly and really knows her stuff. There's 3 tests, 5 quizzes, and about 15 homework assignments. She drops your lowest quiz and 2-3 homeworks. She has some extra credit if you do the exam redos.
Thoroughly enjoyed this course. Did not watch more than 3 lectures and ended with an A+. Make sure to read the textbook which is easy to understand and study her review guides.
really good instructor but it's a hard class. Do A LOT of practice problems & get StudyCube to prepare for the exams and you'll do well.
She herself is not too tough on grading but her TA is. She does a very good job explaining things and never assumes you already know something. Work is required for this class but that is to be expected, because its a 4000 level course. She makes the class interesting when it doesnt necessarily have to be.
Its one of the hardest classes I took in UCF. You learn everything yourself because we meet only 5 times, and in class she only gives you assignments with no explanations.
One of the HARDEST classes I ever took & School isn't usually hard for me. It was a hybrid or mixed mode class, 5 MANDATORY meetings & the exams are BARELY like the quizzes & homework. She held 2 reviews one for exam 2 & one for the final. I failed all of the exams except one. She does offer EC & she does drop the lowest assignments. (Grade: 78 C+)
Professor Underwood is extremely helpful during her class meetings. Unfortunately that is only a few times a semester. The book is difficult to study from so make sure not to miss a lecture. She will sit with you and help you through a problem if you ask for help. Exams are hard but she does offer a good amount of extra credit. Solid choice.
Awful teacher.
Dr. Underwood is a great teacher. You meet 5 times in the entire semester (about every two weeks) discussing the topics that were discussed in the homework. She has several TA's and is very open. The grading criteria are clear and she answers any questions you may have. During the class meetings she has activities that help explain the material.
This class is the hardest class out of my whole college career. Second time taking this class and still havent learned anything.
This was the worst class Ive every taken out of my college career. & the WORST professor ever. What she gives you to study for the exams are NOTHING like what is actual on the exams. You teach yourself everything in the course so if you cant learn that way youre screwed. & this only meet 5 times out of the semeste 1hr only makes matters worse.
This class made you work for your grade. I personally spent hours taking notes from the online textbook and sitting down on my own and try to fully understand the subject. She does drop a few homework grades, an exam, quizzes and multiple extra credit opportunity. Go to TA hours. Definitely my hardest class, hard work pays off.
Study. Find good study groups. Show up when you have class. Actually do the homework (dont copy) otherwise you will not do well. It takes effort. See the TAs and try your best. This is NOT an easy A for some and does take effort. So expect to work for your good grades. She is a decent teacher and could be way better, but as I said, she's decent.
I've only been in this class for a few weeks and I can already tell it's going to be a bad experience. Her teaching methods are questionable as she wants us to "teach ourselves" through the online textbook. Her homework is graded very tough and the material is even tougher. She's seemingly the type of professor who wants you to fail.
Tests are purposefully vague and careless in choice of language, leading to answers differing from definitions offered in the text. I.E. You answered the question correctly, but you got it wrong. Either the TAs write them or they are copied from somewhere.
Met 6x through out the whole semester and you don't learn in those meetings you just do group work that you can barely finish in the time given. She brags and laughs at the fact that no one passes her exams. Her extra credit? (That I got 100% on) brought my grade up from an 81.21% to an 81.29%. You teach yourself all the lessons. AVOID if you can.
In the syllabus this woman literally said if we want to be successful we would need to put in AT LEAST 40 hours of studying per week for this class alone(sounds more like a job than a GEP course) She and her TA's are super tough graders. I went to her review sessions and studied so hard for the first exam and still failed. Try Micro instead.
I've managed with extremely hard classes throughout my college career and have maintained a constant position on the dean's list, but this class? Despite it being a GEP course this felt like a graduate level class. Her teaching is not teaching considering you have to teach yourself all the material anyway... Moral of the story is, don't take her.
Potentially one of the most useless college classes I have ever taken. UCF has the class set-up where you only go 6 times a semester and you do group activities that hardly help your understanding. The rest of the course is online and you're expected to teach yourself basically every concept. Professor often uses this as an excuse with any concern
No disrespect to her, but its as if she does everything in her power to make the subject more difficult than it already is. Extra credit opportunity where you can spend hours on it and receive maybe .02 points overall. Whats the opportunity cost of that? Read, watch, attend, practice . Repeat. And youll still be shortchanged for the exam.
I took notes on every chapter, followed the modules, watched the videos, + studied + I still did poorly in the class. I spent 4 hours on each homework + quiz and still couldnt get the grades I desired! The answers to tests, quizzes, + homework are nowhere to be found in the course material so theres no hope for an A. You might get a B if you pray
She is a good professor. The problem students have is that it is basically an online class since the class meetings are six times throughout the entire semester. It was a little easier for me because I took this class in high school. But if you study and watch her videos (that replaces lectures), you can pass.
Worst professor ever. DO NOT TAKE HER. I took economics my senior year of hs & still ended up failing because she makes this class ridiculously hard for only having it 6 times a semester. She barely teaches in those 6 classes & makes u do group work the whole time. All the quizzes/hw is online but its HARD. She doesnt care abt her students at all.
This class was overall difficult. You only meet a few times and she doesnt go over much. If you watch all the lecture videos she posts, actually do the homework thoroughly, and do her reviews, you can possibly pass with a B. The only pro to this class is youre allowed to bring one index card to each exam.
Imagine having to take quizzes throughout the semester, and they combined account for 15% of your overall grade. Now imagine having to answer 25 questions in 25 minutes where most questions require a lot of work to find the answer. Also don't expect any grace. No excuses. If you die, she still expects you to be in class and turn in assignments.
study well to pass the class. STUUUDDDYYY HAAAARD
Everyone says this class is hard and theres only 6 classes that u meet and she barely teaches. This is wrong. This class is mixed mode so ur expected to mostly teach ur from her videos she posts and a textbook. Then using the knowledge u obtained ur to attend a class six times where there is group projects that assess how well u know the info
Worst class Ive ever taken - literally does not explain how to do anything in the class . You will not do good if youre not strong with math
Do every practice quiz, saw many questions on the exams from them. Homework + reading the textbook does NOT help with exams. I hate watching videos but hers are actually decent when going through the modules (also on the exams). Also, content from the big quizzes are on the exams too. Memorize how to do tricky problems. Read discussion posts.
One of my favorite economics professors. Very knowledgeable and great personality makes her lectures bearable. Seminar is kind of a "freestyle" class that she was given, and she did a good job with it. Many topics I had already learned in Development Econ and prior micro/macro classes, so it wasn't bad. Exams were tough and there were pop quizzes.
The class was kind of hard for a principles prereq but it can do a good job of preparing students before their econ cores. As a graduating senior I just wanted to breeze by in this class and not do anything... which is exactly what I did but still it was annoying and alot of busy work. I think its probably beneficial if you're a sophomore/junior.
It's not hard to do well in this class, do the practice quizzes and read the textbook. The TAs in the in class meetings didn't seem to know what they were doing, they'd give me contradictory responses when I would ask about a question on the worksheet, and I'd end up asking Dr. Underwood for clarity. Quizzes are online and you can take them 5 times
This class was mixed mode, so it was mostly online homework and quizzes, with six class meetings. If you read the book, watch her videos, and do the practice quizzes the class is definitely passable. I found reviewing my old quizzes before the tests to be more helpful than the given study guides.
This class isn't for lazy students who want an easy A. 3 tests that are taken on-campus in the testing center, weekly homework and quizzes. Online textbook and homework through Cengage. 6 in-class group assignments. Read the text book and watch every video she posts. If you don't watch them or don't show for class, you won't pass.
The class format is probably the only thing that really bothered me about this class. Every other week you meet in the collaboration room and work with your assigned group. Out of the 5 classes we had this semester, my group only fully finished one of these assignments so get ready to work fast. Helps to break up the work among the group.
I graduated high school with 4.5 GPA, straight A's and I could not pass this class. The professor is awful. The class is taught in a REAL system so you only meet 6 times the semester. The professor DOES NOT teach. I had TWO tutors for this class. Spent an easy 6-8 hours a week on work and could barely get a C and the final bumped me to a D+
Dr. Nora herself is a pretty good teacher and was always able to give me a knowledgable answer whenever I had a question. She also had a lot of opportunities for you to boost your grade. However, the course's design SUCKS. You only meet six times for busywork, and you're on your own for the rest. This absolutely should be weekly lectures.
Strange class format for Macro where you meet six times per semester to completely useless group busywork, then do the rest online. You have to study pretty hard to do well on the quizzes and exams but if you take your time and complete every homework assignment, extra credit, and group assignment you should pass. The extra credit helped me get a B
Highly recommend: take micro with Buhagiar 1st. The textbook for that class is way better, and prepared me well for macro. The textbook for 2013 is awful. Had I taken macro 1st, probably would have a B instead of an A. Dr. Underwood is good though. Her videos are great. The mindtap homework is helpful too. Just bad author.
I took this class my first semester at UCF, my advice for incoming students would be to NOT take this class. Not only was this teacher not helpful at all but she also put 4 quizzes in just one week, giving me mental breakdowns all week and as I asked a question in class she completely ignored me. Moral of the story is do not take this class!
Professor Underwood was super understanding amidst the COVID-19 situation. She dropped some extra assignments and gave us a test retake. But, I will say that you should take Micro first, or take that instead. I much prefer Prof. B's textbook over Prof. Underwood's, and the online material in Micro is better, easier homework and better lectures.
She is just too strict. She doesn't allow absences or tardiness (my class met at 7:30 am) or late work; and she doesn't curve tests or round grades up At All, no exceptions. The average final grade for the class was a low C I think. The tests are tough and are a big part of the grade. If you're punctual and a good test-taker you should succeed.
DO NOT take this professor! She is no help at all!! This class is hard and she makes it no better !! She acts like she wants you to fail. No good lectures or anything.
Dr. Underwood could not have made this entire course experience more user friendly. Although the workload in a 5.5-6 week class is a lot to manage at times (took Summer/online due to Covid), she gives you every bit of information needed to pass the class and LEARN the material (a must to pass). The effort put in determines the grade you receive.
Professor Underwood-Caputo is EXCELLENT. This was easily the most efficiently-organized course I've taken at UCF so far--even when I struggled with concepts, I was confident that it wasn't for lack of resources, but that I had not made proper use of them. Lots of supplemental readings, contextual-expl., video-lectures, & practice q's. Just CARE. :)
Pretty tough considering its just a core class. Make sure you understand the HW and quizzes and have formulas on hand. Hw and quizzes dont give feedback on what you got wrong so youre stuck wondering what you did wrong which sucks. Writes her own exams which made things confusing.
This semester was awful because of this class, I litterally passed all the classes with an A except for this class I had a very hard time to pass, the professor is unresponsive and you feel like she wants you to fail the class she is also a very tough grader.
This class was very difficult as an introductory to Economics. Everything is left up to you to figure out & keeping your grade up's really the main worry. There's no zoom meetings or lectures; however, each section usually has vague pre recorded lessons from her. Some are more helpful than others. Great that there was a consistent schedule though.
Nora was the worst Professor to have for Macroeconomics. She was the toughest grader and if you submitted a discussion post an hour late she marked points off. I took her over the summer online due to COVID-19 and she was the worst. Shes very stingy with points and doesnt seem like she wants you to pass. Sadly shes the only Professor for Macro.
it really was organized and the class was in real format so you would go to class every two weeks and work on a group project. There's no lectures in class just a quick recap and then a group assignment, so you are teaching yourself the material. But the resources and videos are super helpful and easy to get a good grade if you study!
Terrible teacher. She grades really heavy and seems like she wants you to retake the class just so she can fail you again.
This was one of my first classes I had to take at UCF and it was horrible. I had to take it since it is required for my major but I barely made it out alive. The exams are extremely difficult, but maybe since I took it over the summer, it was a lot harder since it was very condensed. I had to rely a lot on the TAs.
This is by far the WORST professor I have ever had in my entire life. I took her for Macro since she is the ONLY professor who teaches this class at UCF, so yes, you are stuck with her. Her exams are extremely hard and you only get 1 min per question. You can't see your correct answers so you just know you failed. No extra credit. Good luck...
This was by far the hardest class I have taken. The test were extremely hard and did not look like the homework or quizzes. I failed this class and will have to take it again after months of struggling to grasp the subject.
This is coming from someone with an A, who loves economics. This teachers quizzes and tests are awful, they are portly written with so many miss leading words for not reason. They dont ask you to apply yourself they just try and use tricky wording or confusing you with similar words so that your confused. Not to mention all the typing errors
She has to be the least understanding professor of all time. She barely taught anything at all and made her exams so hard and nothing like homework. 65% of your grade comes from the two midterms and final. She also made everyone take their exams at 7AM with no exceptions to that time. Gives you barely enough time in tests and doesnt really care.
Seems to be a nice person however, she was incredibly confusing. She constantly contradicted herself and the textbook. The quizzes and tests NEVER reflected the homework or lectures.
IM TELLING YOU DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER, she does not teach at all, the tests and quizes are SO hard in all of my other classses i have 98+ and this class i ended with a 79 so if you want good grades i do not reccomend at all, everyone i know got a C or failed the class and the average on the final was a 67 so.. that tells you something
Taking her class during a pandemic has been incredibly discouraging. While I have a good grade in her class, she is very unforgiving regardless of the circumstances, and it seemed as if her tests were meant to trick students rather than actually test their knowledge. Her quizzes and tests rarely aligned with the textbook
She was a very tough grader and since was material was already hard it was difficult to learn online without any zoom lecture. However, she did drop our lowest quiz and homework grade. This class is very time consuming because she gives a homework assignment and quiz every week. Overall, I would not take this class again.
She has too many resources which you would think its helpful but its overkill! For example, you'll study for a quiz based on her study guides, However; you would find that the quiz are rearranged in a way where its unfamiliar to you and by the time you figure it out, time is up. waste of printed study paper and a waste of time.
This was actually one of the most difficult courses I've taken. In my 3rd year & decided to take this, (regret). A quiz each week as well as a homework assignment with 3 attempts. Quizzes and tests are timed you're not able to see correct answers only quiz answers that were wrong. She expects you to know everything without giving formulas or help!!
Grading is super strict and she follows her specific set of guidlines for grading/due dates. Her tests reflect nothing that you have actually studied or read and they are super confusing. She drops the lowest hw and quiz which is nice, but it's still a difficult course. Unfortunate how she is a the only Macro Teacher at this school.
This class was so hard and stressful! The tests are nothing like what youve been learning about. The class is literally so confusing but unfortunately this is the only professor for this course.
Dr. Underwood's Thinking Like an Economist class was very well put together. I wish I had taken this class before taking ECO 3101. This class was very informational and helped me really understand and grasp economic concepts. Her tests are almost exactly like the practice problems and quizzes, so as long as you do those you should pass with ease.
Great professor. Cares for her students. Her tests make you think and study for them, but they are straightforward and fair. Lots of assignments, meaning lots of opportunities to get the grade you want. Overall, excellent experience with this class.
This class is hard and super stressful !!!!. The quizzes are with just enough time to answer, although she gives you 3 attempts to get the highest grade. I recommend studying for exams at least two weeks in advance if you want to pass the class.
Not an easy class, but doable. She is a decent professor who cares about her students. Lots of notes-taking, textbook reading, lecture reading, and for some, extra help needed to do well. I got an A average on packback, homework, quizzes, a B average on midterm exams, and a C on the final, and ended the class with a B.
Literally the worst professor I have ever had as many already stated. Her tests are deadly, long questions, worded tricky to where it is to out of context and wrong grammar, and will have you multiplying numbers like 12.078 trillion/1.88 billion within a time limit of about 2 minutes per question. Feels like she is playing mind games with students.
This class was asynchronous. Professor Underwood-Caputo is a nice lady; she was very helpful when I went to office hours. The tests are fairly easy, but some of the questions are worded in a very difficult fashion. It was not an easy class to get an A in, but I managed it. The average grade in this class was a 73.
Ugh. Did over the Summer online. Got my C. I wanted to get this class out of the way because Dr. Underwood had such bad ratings. The quizzes and exams were VERY hard and it was nearly impossible to get an A on work. BEWARE DO THE WORK IN THIS CLASS. Dr. Underwood is a TOUGH professor who shows no mercy. Take a deep breath, and study hard students.
She is the absolute worst professor I have ever had so far at UCF and it amazes me UCF employs her. What she teaches is not on the tests or quizzes, gives little time for tests and quizzes, and is super unhelpful/unclear on grading. Avoid her like the plague, because you will suffer. Not to mention ECO3155 is NOT supposed to be a hard class.
This class was pretty hard. I didn't realize it was asynchronous so that sucks. Because of that, the class size is HUGE and I never really got to know her. Majority of you learning is online and the only in person stuff is group work at tables together. The tests were pretty tricky, but there are a lot of smaller works that could help your grade.
I have taken organic chemistry and this class was harder than that. This class is completely online with in class meetings that you have to attend (6 to be exact). I am not quite sure how she is still a teacher because she doesnt host in-person lectures or zoom calls. You look at the modules and she posts a 2 minute video explaining the chapter
Dont recommend I ended up failing this class and am just going to retake it at a community college . The tests are ridiculously hard and she barely teaches . This class and professor are horrendous .
As a professor she isnt the worst but the way UCF sets up the course is awful, especially when transitioning from high school to college. Seek tutoring through SARC and youll be fine. Stay on top of all of your work, her videos are very time consuming. Be prepared to teach yourself!
Make sure you study for the exams, they account for like 70% of the grade. Otherwise professor underwood is a good professor and she's nice and helpful.
Overall a solid class with helpful material. Nora is a straight to the point professor. The exams are easy to study for and the weekly quizzes and practices quizzes are extremely helpful. However Nora does not show correct answers on quizzes when you get something wrong even after the quiz is closed. If you attend class and study you'll do amazing!
This was a difficult course. My biggest issue was that there was no feedback on the quizzes or exams, so there was really no chance to learn from my mistakes. The homework is difficult. The average of 3 attempts on a question. If you put the time in, you should be able to pass through.
she does not actually teach, i understand due to the given circumstances that there is only 1-2 macro economics teachers so the class has to be mixed mode and it would be hard for her to go through a full lecture, but she uses her videos from years ago as videos to learn from and is a very tough grader, class was way to hard for a gep class
This class is terrible, it is mixed mode so there are only 6 class meetings for the entire semester. You will have to self-teach since the class meetings are only doing worksheets with your group. She is rude and her videos are basically useless.
I have only been in this class in this class for less than a week so I can't say much about how this professor grades, but if you ever take this course in the mixed mode format for summer then be mindful that assignments will start at the beginning of the first week and NOT the official first day of class.
Overall I found this class to not be difficult and the professor was nice. The one problem with this class is you teach yourself online, but that's most of the business classes at UCF unfortunately.
There is absolutely no learning during the in-person classes which added to the accelerated pacing of the summer term makes it incredibly difficult to keep up with the material. Additionally, the class structure of the forced group worksheets means you will have to either dumb down for your group mates or fall behind if you're having trouble.
Dr. Underwood rocks. Whip-smart, fair, and cares about her students. Expects you to keep up, but generous with help if you ask. Algebra-heavy and fast-paced. Slack off at your peril. This class is a great foundation/review for later macro and micro concepts. Videos and practice sets are a must. Challenging, rewarding class with an excellent Prof.
Overall class was okay, If you truly try in the class it is not hard to get an A. The problem that most people have is how you kind of have to teach your self as you only meet in class 5 times.
The class itself was kind of hard (to me) but I didn't really have any issues with the professor. I didn't have that much interaction with her but when I did she was nice and willing to help out if you had questions. No extra credit but she drops quite a few grades so it's not the end of the world if you miss a few assignments
Avoid this teacher at all costs. She will not teach you any material, everything is self taught online. You have 5 mandatory class meetings and you must work in a group of 6 people. She will randomly choose one of your 6 papers to take as a group grade, so if you have a bad group then don't expect to do well. Hard tests. Lots of weekly homework.
This teacher did not do an ounce of teaching. Weekly homework and writing assignments that have no correlation with anything on the tests. Her lectures in webcourses are so confusing because she uses material from 2018. I spent my whole semester confused about material i would have loved learning. We need better an economic teacher.
Idk how to rate her because this was a completely self-taught course and it was so hard. Avoid this section if you can and find a fully in-person class. The 5 times we met, we had assigned groups and had to do an assignment that was weighted as a quiz. You were expected to know the material and she did not teach during class. Final was cumulative.
Never seen any instructional material genuinely written by herself. Weekly assignments dependent on AI-graded discussion posts + quizzes where you can't see the SCORE until after you take them twice. Course material wasn't difficult, but somehow she managed to make it so via excruciating weekly load. Seek different professor as soon as available.
Overall underwood is ok. She makes you pay for a discussion board (instead of just using the one in canvas??) and the rest of the class can be understood through that. It's tedious most times, REAL is annoying but what else is new. Overall it was alright, didn't hate it, didn't love it.
I would avoid her if you can... She's snarky and refuses to give answers to a lot of the practice problems / practice quizzes. Her tests would include questions much more complex than what she covered in her lectures and canvas videos (there's no textbook so thats all you get). She created this class so you have to play by her rules...
She is actually great at teaching and is super willing to help during office hours, but make sure to study all her online videos, notes, and practice problems because you are expected to know it all (and have a full understanding of it all) for exams. Also, exam questions might be more complex, or called something other than the name taught.
Overall the class was quite difficult and required a lot of self-teaching. The Professor provided decent Exam review questions and good module videos. Exams weren't awful but they were challenging and required you to know your definitions and material. Learn the material over time and don't cram. Meet with TA or the professor if you need help!
Doesn't help out with homework properly. Doesn't help out and teach concepts properly. Uses phone as a reliable calculator to help students prepare for their exams. Tests or exams can only be taken through the College of Business testing center. The professor doesn't go over materials in the ALL sessions.
The TA's don't help at all, and the SARC is even worse. There are 3 exams (super different from quizzes and homework). The exam problems are very confusing and are almost all fill in the blank, IT IS NOT MULTIPLE CHOICE (only 3 questions). In her 5 class sessions she does not explain anything, she just gives you a sheet for you to solve as a group.
Horrible professor, basically this is a self taught class. She claims she assigns us so many homework assignments so we can learn and get the hang of it but once the exam comes, the material we learned is nothing like the exam. When it comes to the exam, she gives the exam a month and a half after and expects us to remember a months worth of stuff.
She doesn't explain almost anything in class, too arrogant. The tests are multiple choice and fill the blank, im telling you they are very hard. TA doesn't help much. I will not recommend her class.
She is not GOOD at all. She doesn't know what she is talking about half of the time. When it comes to exams she tells us to study certain modules and tests. How are suppose to review our quizzes when she refuses to give us the correct answers same thing for exams. Her exams are nothing like the quiz or study guides and even what we learn.
If you refer to her as a professor, I can't help but find it amusing. She doesn't teach in the slightest. She's the worst instructor I've ever had. I did make some good friends in this class, but we're all struggling to get through it. I regret taking her class. She's a terrible professor and extremely ineffective.
i was scared at first cuz she was really bad when i took macro with her but this class wasn't nearly as bad, though the homeworks taught most of the material. she provides a formula sheet with useful equations (compound formula, chain rule, quotient rule etc.) and the exams are very doable if you just study the homework and make sure to understand.
This class is easy if you are willing to put in the work. I took this class as a senior in high school for dual enrollment, and it was easier than my regular classes. The professor isn't as mean/boring as everyone says, and I actually found her quite helpful. She challenges students to think and apply the material on tests. I would recommend her.
Do the homework they taught me most of the material, I didn't find any of the professor's videos or lectures helpful. She also provided no review material or practice problems for exams other than a study guide that included the necessary equations. Overall the class is very manageable if you can learn the material on your own.
SHE MADE THIS THE WORST SEMESTER OF MY LIFE. I LITERALLY HATE IT.
This class isn't bad if you do the homework. The homework basically teaches you how to do the stuff and if you study for the exams you'll do fine. She drops some assignments too which is nice. Overall the class is not too difficult.
Made an account just to rate. Two things: the class format is annoying (meetings are abt bimonthly, generally self-taught), and your grade rests on exam performance. If you want a good grade (B to A), just do the chapter worksheets before the quizzes. They are EXTREMELY HELPFUL. You won't let yourself down. You CAN succeed here.
Wasn't that hard, I got lucky with a tryhard group that knew everything. Her resources were great and enabled me to do good on all the tests. The packbacks aren't hard but are the most pointless thing on the planet. Homework and quizzes are easy. The final is mid tho, it's cumulative so it's just a lot of material.
Very mid. Expect discussion posts and a ramp up in difficulty towards the end of the semester. To be fair she drops certain low grades.
Avoid this professor at all costs! It's a shame that she is the only prof for this class because she's ROUGH. Get ready to teach yourself math because the limited class meetings do next to nothing to help. The way she runs the class is very flawed, and the TAs will be more useful than her. Bad exam reviews, and it's different from what you learn.
Looking at reviews, I get why people are spread all over the place. The professor is actually really helpful if you go to office hours, though her videos are not helpful at all. I think the class is very test heavy, however there are a lot of assignments to cushion your grade. The study-plan is a pretty good resource if you use it right.
Personally, I found the class to be pretty simple, just follow the online study plan and don't even bother with her videos/lectures because they are not helpful. Be prepared to teach yourself the material. However, her attitude towards students is nothing short of condescending and patronizing. Do not take her course if you respect yourself.
Very bad teacher, avoid if you can. She barely teaches, her videos are terrible and do not explain much, and her exams do not match what you are expected to learn. The exams only cover around 50% of the homework and quizzes, while requiring you to know how to solve problems that are worded and written differently than in any material she provided.
ive seen so many negative reviews on her about qmb but it really isnt bad at all. yes OF COURSE she doesnt teach a lot, no professor in the entry business level can be incredibly involved bc of the way its been set up. just stay on top of things and use the practice problems and passing with an a or b shouldnt be hard.
Wouldn't reccomend if you have a difficult time with math or if a bad test taker because exams make up 40% and finals another 20%. She doesn't curve exams or offer extra credit. Textbook helps a lot and you can succeed, but you have to really set time aside if the subject does not come easy for you which may be difficult for a working student.
Professor was hands down horrible. She talks to you like she's better than you. Did not help on any assignments and made exams extremely difficult. She doesn't want you to do well.
The class is manageable if you put in the work. The homework is the real learning tool, while the professor's lectures fall short. Try unstuckstudy ai for extra practice.
Honestly, people need to stop hating. Nora is a good professor and content is not hard if you watch her videos and study. Nora is the most helpful in class as the TAs can be scary. If you study example questions you got that bag. Good luck y'all!
I was a bit nervous to take this class because of the reviews but she is not bad at all. Although her lecture videos could be better, Her class was not difficult, as long as you work on your assignments and read the textbook this class will be easy for you. She also provides study guides for exams, she also drops the lowest quiz and homework.
Overall the teacher wasn't rude or anything but the class structure was horrible. Super stressful classes because she picks a random paper from your group to grade for the entire group, so if you are stuck with people who don't listen or do anything you are screwed. Unit slides are useless but the chapter worksheets and practice quizzes are nice.
"REAL" format, self-taught with six group assignments. Professor's only input is lecture videos where she's reading from a script (most of which are from 2018). TAs do nearly everything, including office hours; I did not communicate with her once throughout the semester. The concepts of the course itself aren't hard, but good luck if you need help.
Lots of homework, long videos to watch. She allows you to retake quizzes or practice quizzes but you cannot see the correct answer. Really hard class
Poorly taught course, exams are different from the review make sure to do every assignment and quiz and to press submit.
The tests were tough at times, but she had so many resources to choose from if you wanted to improve your knowledge of the subject. She is upfront about the difficulty (average grades) and gives pointers about how to improve your grade instead of just extra credit. You get out what you put into this class, from my experience.
REAL format = you have to teach yourself the material. Manage time wisely, use the textbook and module vids to learn, use practice quizzes & make flashcards to study for exams. Study before labs (TAs help but effort matters for good grade). quizzes=2 attempts. math & logical knowledge beforehand is VERY valuable. Prof helped me with degree planning
I dont understand this lecture style. Only go to class to work on worksheets; normally, 2-3 papers f&b. Tests are complicated but only easy if you go to peer tutoring. The peer tutor taught me more than she did and truly he cared more. She does not care if you have other classes or if something comes up. She expects you to study 6+ hours a week.
To be honest, she's not that bad as the ones leaving one star ratings say she is. You just need to know some math and problem solving skills to do the homework and class assignments. Take good notes, definitions, draw out tables. It's kinda your average class. Her lectures do a decent job of explaining things, do pray you get put in a good group.
Not a super easy class but not brutally difficult either. Make sure to take advantage of all of the provided resources because they all are very helpful. As long as you dedicate enough time to studying and practicing the material you should do very well.
Tough class in my opinion. Lots of concepts are covered in a short period of time. Meets 6 times per semester. Tests are weighted 40%. Grades class activities by a random paper within your group, allowing for a grade that might be affected by your tablemates. Requires a lot of studying if you want a B or higher. Overall, taught pretty well.
Class is REAL so there's that. But in each lab, she talks for 15-25 minutes taking away so much time from the ALL assignment. Tests are alright if you're dedicated to the flashcards and guides. No extra credit done but some HW and participations are dropped.
I took micro in high school and I got a 4 on the exam, so I believe coming in with outside knowledge was essential for doing as well as I did. It's REAL format, which is nonsense overall, but she was as good as you could hope to get. Plus, she is a teacher who wants you to do well.
Overall mid. in her syllabus she says the class average at the end of the semetser is a 77, so dont feel bad if u have a C. alot of discussion posts, homework is not hard, a couple quizzes. the REAL labs suck if ur in a sucky group. test heavy. passed with exactly a 80.7, doesnt let you see what questions you get wrong on the quizzes/tests.
Professor Underwood is teaching QMB and Eco, and from my time with her, I can tell she is one of those professors who are there to cut a check and aren't there to help students. However, to pass, be sure to review the homework, textbooks, and practice tests (when preparing for the final).
I took this class in Fall 2024. It was a bad experience. The professor just has you do group worksheets and dismisses class. Her video lectures are unhelpful, and the exam reviews don't match the actual tests. The material isn't hard, but the exams are tricky. Take it at Valencia instead. People i know had to take the class 3 times for their major.
Take advantage of all the resources given in the course such as worksheets, HWs, A+ test prep in the textbook, and office hours provided by TAs. The group class activities were alright and they were doable with a little help from the TAs. The exams were hard so I higly recommend studying well enough in advance time of them.
Only attend class 5 times during the semester for group work, not too difficult but you have to be on time and productive. Otherwise there are usually 2 assignments a week that are pretty straightforward with built in resources to go along with module content. Tests are a little difficult so make sure to study/take notes for the modules.
The class and prof are good. Just do the assignments, watch the module videos, and do the practice exams. It's all laid out for you. Some weeks are a little unnecessarily heavy, and it's better to do the Thursday section of this class (to give a little extra time for you to study the content before you meet with your group), but it's manageable.
Felt unwelcome when I attended office hours.
Legit one of the worst proffessors I've ever had the displeasure of having. The TA's are just as bad, unhelpful and lazy, avoid this class at all costs.
Wanted to do a minor in economics, but I won't be doing it anymore. This is a gep and not even the wording is consistent throughout the concepts. ChatGPT was a better professor than her, and that's disappointing to say
Guys, I'll be real, all people who leave her negative reviews are just kids who do NOT know what college is about. If you put enough effort - you'll be fine. I was using her videos, practice questions + exam reviews + a bit of ChatGPT and got 100s on the exams. And I never had eco classes before. So don't worry! The TAs are nice and helpful.
This class was fine. Not bad, not great. Just do the homework, everything is pretty manageable and her grading criteria is straightforward. In-person lectures are fairly helpful as long as you're in a good group. This was my first time taking a class in the College of Business REAL format, too. Overall, it's a fine class with a standard professor.
just no. so awful.
She's a nice professor who wants you to think critically about the topics you learn. Overall, you will have to put the work in, especially since the 8 or so quizzes count for as much as the exams in her course. She's fully designed this course & it's just a less intensive micro class, so just attend the lectures.
I took this class online, and it was pretty easy. If you actually spend time learning the material and doing the homework, you will be fine. The class meetings were also pretty helpful for practicing the formulas. I don't know why this professor gets so many bad reviews. She isn't bad, but she isn't great either.
DO THE HOMEWORK AND TAKE NOTES. This is an information-heavy class. Professor Underwood's videos were really helpful for me, and she was fair in the in-class meetings, she will NOT give you the answer on a silver spoon but she will guide you to the correct thought process. There are clear-cut expectations, put in effort. Study and you'll be fine
I have no idea why she has so many bad ratings. This is more difficult than micro but if you take notes, pay attention in class, and study you should do fine on tests (which are over half the grade). Her lecture videos on canvas are super helpful so be sure to take notes. If you want a good grade, put in the effort and you should be fine.
She presented topics clearly, was always willing to answer questions, and the material wasn't too difficult.
