Well informative, nice teacher, gives out prizes randomly, dull material.
Nori is a new prof, so I didnt have ratemyprofs, but you do now.Nori has a very dry personality, no enthusiasm, annoying monotonous voice, and no ability to communicate concepts makin lectures useless. she didnt respond to some of my emails too..shes nice tho. if you take nori, know the book is all you have bc the teacher is just a talking head.
Professor is clear, concise and well spoken. Has real world experience and knows accounting. Sometimes she can mix up her words but that's true for every professor I have ever had. Tests are average, but never surprising. Would take additional courses from her again.

Nori is great. She loves people that sit up front and participate. She takes attendance, so show up for free 25 pts. Tests are hardly surprising material and reviews are good. She tries to be funny and entertaining, but it's dry material. She gave out candy bars for turning in a sheet about yourself. One of my better classes this semester. Take her

Probably the best Acctg 230 professor I could have asked for! Nori was very knowledgeable about the subject matter, and extremely helpful. She really cared about the success of her students, and for difficult courses like Accounting, that speaks volumes. So long as you don't skip lecture [she takes attendance], and pay attention, you'll be fine.
pretty clear and an allright speaker. i learned more from the homework though than from her. a nice person
she is really a nice person. Although this class 230 i mean is not easy but she always try to make it easy for us and like to help us very much!
Very willing to help. knows people may not be interested so she tries to make it interesting.
I like her, she is so nice and always eager to help her students. Really good teacher.
Nori is amazing. She knows what she is doing, is great at teaching and truly cares that you learn the material. She is also very understanding and fair.
Great personality! She knows her stuff and teaches it very well. She is still an accountant, so has real world experience. Read the book and go to lecture. That's all you really need.
Professor Pearson is a very nice teacher and extremely helpful. She recognizes that accounting is usually not a well loved subject for her students but tries to make class interesting anyways. She covers the material thoroughly and allows for plenty of review time. Don't be afraid to ask her questions, she is always willing to clarify or re-explain
Attend lecture and do the online homework and you'll do fine. Even if you don't she adds in a bunch of extra credit. Not a very difficult class and I put in minimal effort. Really good teacher, explains well and answers questions outside of class.
She is an okay teacher in the classroom. She does offer lots of extra credit. She was awful at helping students, i asked her for help and she refused telling me to go to the TA's. Seriously we pay how much to go here? If we want help from her we should get it so in that sense she is a bad teacher.
All 231 courses have the same homework and exams... With that said, Nori is the best because she speaks english clearly and manages to keep people awake. 231 is much less material than 230 so don't get too relaxed because its the easy questions that will get you on exams.
tough class and class is boring since it is a boring subject but she is very helpful if you go get help during office hours
Take her if you can!! She tries to make an incredibly boring subject as fun as possible. She is very helpful when you bring questions to her. She gives a lot of extra credit as well. She does a really good job at explaining the material and sometimes brings candy to class!
Good teacher with extra credit opportunities
Definitely a boring subject, but she tries to keep it interesting. It's nice that she is one of the few accounting professors who speak English. Be prepared to spend hours on the homework assignments. All in all, though, not too bad of a class even though it is accounting.
Nori is an amazing teacher. Very helpful and willing to work with students. Read the book before class, helps a ton with comprehension. Tests are almost the same as the workbook and problems in wiley. Use all of those resources and you'll do fine. She curves the class somewhat at the end, at least for the lower end.
Best professor for the course. But only because the others really don't speak english very well. She's nice and a good teacher, but her lectures are quite boring. Not really much of a point in going to lectures since she just recites the book, but she provides plenty of extra credit which is awesome. Go with Nori for Accounting 230
Very nice person, but tests are nearly impossible. She puts answers that look right but aren't and tries to trick you. Class: boring. HW: easy. Curve: HOPEFULLY!
I had to take this class twice and I only got a C in the class at the end, but that was mostly my fault for taking advantage of extra credit and putting in my fair share of work. Still this class is not to be taken lightly. Lots of concepts definitions and equations to be understood.
Difficult class if you're not studying to be an accountant. Nori will work with you. She wants to see her students succeed. Tests are VERY difficult, but scores are curved at the end of the semester. Online homework due before each test. 3 tests in the semester and a cumulative final. Nori is the department head. Very knowledgable. Take her class!
Nori is very knowledgeable about accounting, she was an accountant. I fight to stay awake in EVERY lecture but go because attendance is taken every class. Not much point to go, I learn more from doing the hw. Her study guides for the tests are top notch! If you dont understand something she does a great job explaining.I am taking her again for 231
Great teaching style. Made subject interesting.
She is very nice, makes occasional cheesy jokes, takes attendance, not exciting material. I suggest you study your ass off for the 3 midterms she has planned. I studied for a whole week for the third midterm and still got a 64 though I felt great after I was done. So read carefully, pay attention, and keep up with the class. the class is a pain, I suggest taking over the summer because 230 is too boring for a 16 wk course.
Makes it simple to understand.
Great teacher. Class is very easy and attendance is not mandatory. The exams are super easy, and lots of extra credit available. Highly recommend
Very basic, easy to understand class with lots of extra credit opportunities. There were a lot of sorority girls that struggled, but if you put some time and effort into the class it is an easy A. Highly recommended.
Good teacher! Accounting is a hard class but she tried to give her students every opportunity to succeed. She gives lots of extra credit and the homework is extremely helpful. She is also good about answering questions and makes the concepts very clear. Go to class and do the optional homework, it will really help you get better grades on the test.
Don't need to show up, don't need to do the homework and you don't have to go to lab and you will STILL pass this class. If you get lower than a C- on your final grade, she will make sure that you pass to make herself look like a better teacher! Enjoy the easy C. However, it is very difficult to get an A. Trust me.
There are a lot of extra credit opportunities, such as going to lab for attendance. As long as you complete the required homework 80% or better you will get full points. The final exam is not comprehensive, the material is very understandable and easy. This class is extremely easy to get an A, or a passing grade for that matter.
If you are good with numbers or math at all, this class will be a cake-walk for you, and an easy A. Lots of easy extra credit ensures that. The online HW does take longer than you think though, so don't wait until the last day to do it all. To learn the material well, all you have to do is learn from the HW and look at some of her online slides.
I am TERRIBLE with math...and numbers in general. BUT she is a great teacher. She knows what she is talking about. but don't get me wrong. this class is hard. extra credit is helpful and a must and same with the homeworks. attendance is not required but her discussions are helpful when confused with the material
Nori is exceptionally friendly and approachable. She makes Accounting as painless as it could possibly be. Her lecture style is very organized and easy to follow, and while she teaches a large amount of students, she always has time to give you a hand.
i really enjoyed her, she is no nice
Nori is great. She tries her best to make it clear and I think she actually makes accounting seem interesting. Best accounting teacher here.
She is a really good teacher!! She wants to let you know more as much as she could. I can't never expect a teacher better than Nori! Her exams might be harder, but you learn more for the real world.
Nori is a great professor. Her lectures are interesting and she explains things really well. There are 4 exams but you can drop one, and you have online homework due before each test. If you're taking Acctg 230, I highly recommend her above the rest.
Going to lecture is pointless other than attendance points. She just reads straight off of the power point slides and you can do that from home because she posts them online. I felt like I had to teach myself most of the material. The assignments only give you five tries at the problem no matter how extensive. Don't forget to do the prelectures!
Very nice lady, really cares about her students. Lecture is a little dry sometimes but she knows her stuff.
Super nice caring lady. Tries her hardest to make a naturally hard subject interesting. She tries her best to be as clear as possible and is very willing to help you.
Very nice/Funny. Loves this subject so tries really hard. Lots of homework for not much impact on your grade, but if you do it all you do well on exams! Some people just struggle with accounting, she makes it as easy as possible.
Lectures were so boring, I quit going after the first couple weeks. Be prepared to rely on the book and her powerpoint slides online, unless you can actually sit through a lecture without falling asleep. Nice teacher, but terrible class.
Easy to get 100% on homework but exams are challenging.
She is really boring, and the lecture is really easy. Hard exam and homework. Never choose her again!
She is a great professor... but don't expect to get an easy A in this class. She calls on students at random, and I personally had to work my butt off to get a decent grade. However, she is good professor and is pretty good about making difficult concepts sink in.
She makes really boring concepts easy to listen to. People said on here that she has boring lecture but its accounting how exciting is it really supposed to be. She cares about what she's teaching and uses her personal experience in the business world for examples. I learned a lot from her class and actually enjoyed accounting.
I love Nori! she is such a nice lady and easy to talk to. Go to her office hours if you're having trouble. She is more helpful than a lot of people think. As an accounting major, I have heard she is one of the hardest Profs but easily likable.
She teaches by constantly calling people out in class which makes everyone really uncomfortable and unable to actually pay attention to what she teaches, her tests are decently hard, tons of online homework. Nice one on one.
She does her best with what she's given. Accounting is a difficult and boring subject but she does the best she can to teach it. The online homework isn't too bad and she offers a ton of extra credit. I really respect her. I recommend you guys to take her.
She rushed through her slides because she claimed she had no time; she would have 75 mins for lecture (12-1:15) and would start class at 12:10 and end at ~1:00 (~50 mins) and this happened everyday. And she seemed more obsessed with her accounting club than teaching the class. She's not a horrible prof but I think she has her priorities messed up
Intermediate accounting 1 was very difficult (just the class). Taking it online was even more difficult. She responded to any questions we had over the material, but had a teachers assistant that would answer a lot as well, who was difficult to get a hold of, especially at the end of the course. Overall good teacher though!
Be proactive. Review the concepts over after lecture helps. Sometimes she many not explain things crystal clear. It's a lot of material and tests are comprehensive. You must really nail the material, not ok to get a medium to incomplete understanding of topic. Clickers needed. One of those class that requires a lot of work on one's part outside cl
Nori is so passionate and wants to help you learn.. Intermediate with her was great! I loved the class even though it was challenging. Take her if you can for acctg courses here at WSU.
I don't really participate in these things, but I have to let everyone know how fair Nori Pearson is. She will give you every opportunity to excel in her class. Do the homework, do the extra credit, do the accounting cycles, and pass the tests and you'll do fine.
She will randomly take attendance and it's part of your grade so be prepared for that. Homework/tests are pretty easy and she will give a curve if she deems it fit. Not my favorite material but it's okay. Lectures are just a lot of examples and she LOVES to randomly call on people which drives me nuts.
she was rude, not helpful, and not easy to talk to! she rushed through everything and if you asked a question would give a snarky response! If you have options for another prof. pick them!!!!!!!!
Nori is a great instructor. She is challenging and likes to randomly call on people so you need to be prepared. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed!
She made us take 8 exams in one course, including all the online homework. She doesn't even curve the exams. Expect the worst and a lot of work. She is a good person and all, but an inefficient professor.
All I can say is, I regret taking this class. Try to register classes early so you get a chance to choose your professors. I got stuck with her. . .
I really disliked this woman. She used YouTube a majority of the time, everyone had to be her "friend". Clickers were used for attendance - which you get an A on anyways. If the prof doesn't have full attendance the school gets on their case. Went for the first half of class, didn't go for the rest. Just read the book and do the HW. Hard to fail.
Very unhelpful! She does not help her students with questions regarding the class and is very dismissive when you talk to her after class.
Nori is an awesome instructor. Anybody who doesn't like her did not go to class or doesn't take time to study. She is kind, fair and reasonable and is one of the best professors i've had in my 2 years here. She also gives a lot of extra credit in case you don't do well on exams. She's a great teacher.
Nori is a good teacher but you definitely have to be in class and you better take notes when you're there . The tests are pretty tough. I recommend reading the chapters before you come to class too. The first 3 chapters are essential to passing.
Nice teacher, responds quickly when you have a question. Will give back points on tests if the question is deemed unfair. Also gives extra credit opportunities that are very helpful in the end. 4 proctored exams (no notes allowed) and I was not happy about that since they are expensive and I had 9 total for the semester.
Whether or not you give effort is important to her, she does not appreciate slackers. If you want help she is very available. While the content may not be the most interesting to everyone she does her best to make it appealing to all. She is the reason I changed my major to accounting. Read the book, study notes, ask for help when needed.
Lectures are very clear and her expectations are well laid out. She makes sure that the tests are fair. For instance, a different professor made the test and Nori decided it wasn't fair. So we had an extra in class exam that was added onto our previous score. Overall, I really liked the class with her and she really cares that students succeed.
I just hated this class. Had a student teacher so it was partially that. 4 - 25 question tests determine 70% of your grade, and never reflected how well you understood the material. Just be able to memorize homework questions. Instead of helping understand something you are just given the answer. The book and website for homework were awful!
She is a great prof. She expects a lot, but she is always willing to help you. If you go to class and pay attention she really goes through the material in a helpful manner. Her tests are on the harder side, but if you go to class, do the homework and even study a little you should get an A. You can tell she is a rare prof that actually CARES!!
Attendance was all extra credit, it was counted as long as you answered the iclicker questions ,you don't have to get them right in order to get the points. The subject is tough, and you MUST do the hw in order to understand, there is a good amount of hw. The test are somewhat difficult, but she curves sometimes. Overall, my favorite professor far.
Good intro to accounting teacher, explains things very clearly, works through problems and makes sure you understand concepts. Homework pretty much weekly, majority is online. 4 exams, no final. Pretty much need to go to class everyday, takes attendance with clicker questions. Class usually gets out 10-15 minutes early though so its not bad.
Class might get out early but it's dreadfully boring. 4 exams, three chapters per exam. Last exam is right before dead week, then one chapter + small project during dead week. attendance is extra credit. if you do the homework and read the book youll do average.
best teacher by far for accounting!
Nori is an amazing accounting teacher. She is very clear in her explanations and is passionate about her subject.
I absolutely loved this class!
Nori definitly has knowledge of the material however she goes by lectures way to quick. I found that the in class notes were very hard to write down as she went by so fast. The 4 exams are some of the hardest exams i have ever taken. She does curve them however its a very hard class. She doesnt drop any exams either. Each class is very bland
Accounting is a dry subject. Nori, however, makes this boring class a lot more enjoyable. She loves to interact and get to know her students. Yes the exams are hard. Yes accounting isn't the most interesting subject. Yes you will have to study and do the homework to do well. But honestly Nori made a class that I was dreading a lot less painful.
Best accounting professor I've ever had. She convinced me to be an accountant. She truly cares about students. Go to class and try hard and she will notice. The lectures are quick because she expects you to read.
Did all the homework and assignments thru online site. No notes or book during exams, very difficult.
Class is pretty much graded based on 4 exams homework is not worth very much in her class. Exams are very difficult and there is no note cards or anything you can use to help you with the exam. She doesn't drop any exam either, very difficult class. She is not good at lecturing either.
Tough course she has knowledge of the subject however she isnt the best at teaching it goes by the powerpoint slides to fast. Notes in class did not help with the exam in any way either.
Awful teacher, Wayyyyyy too much homework. Piles it on during test weeks especially. Do not take this class.
Her class is amazing. It is very easy to follow. If you read the textbook before the class, you can pass.
The professor is a very smart individual but absolutely horrible at teaching. She stands up there and reads directly off her slides in monotone and will SOMETIMES write a problem out. Lecture has absolutely nothing to do with the homework and the homework takes way to long and the website crashes frequently. All in all, this course is a nightmare.
Great teacher. Tests are reasonable and homework isn't too bad.
She is a terrible teacher you have to learn everything yourself. Doesn't care about her students and don't bother ever emailing her for help because she won't reply or expects her TAs to do everything. Does not do anything but show a powerpoint that she obviously has had for years.
Nori is a nice lady, her lectures are bland though, but she is there for the students and wants to see you succeed. The lectures are pretty worthless, no point in being these besides getting your extra credit clicker points. Homework is excruciating, but not extremely hard, chegg account is recommended. Study hard for tests and you'll be fine.
Attendance isn't necessary but you get clicker points for going, although her lectures really don't ever help so it's almost useless. I read the text, do all the homework, spend hours studying and still do poorly. She doesn't properly prepare anyone for the tests which are completely different than the homework. She doesn't help when asked.
This professor is awful. She expects so much out of students without teaching properly. The homework is NOTHING like the tests. Lecture is terrible. She doesn't go to office hours, and she rarely responds to emails when help is needed. DONT take this class if you don't need to.
Nori Pearson is one of the worst teachers I have ever had at WSU. The lectures are near useless with no attendance points given. As well as this, the homework is excruciatingly long, difficult, and has absolutely nothing to do with the exams. Get ready to teach yourself everything and be failing the entire semester. Good luck, you'll need it.
Exams are so strict that I stressed more about getting yelled at than about taking the actual exam. Student questions were usually met with sarcastic responses. Take this class with any other professor if possible.
The most terrible Professor i have ever had. I wish i could say she was helpful, and resourceful, unfortunately that is not the case. In fact, i have never seen someone act so disrespectful towards students whenever anyone would ask for help. She acts like this is the only class we have that matters. And she always tells us we aren't doing enough.
Nori is a decent teacher. This is a class that will require you to put a lot of effort in. My advice is to DO THE LEARNSMART! It helps make things vastly more understandable which she sometimes isn't good at in her lectures. The homework can get repetitive but as long as you understand it, it's all easy.
First, let me tell ya, this is the worst class ever you will have in WSU. she's a nice person though, but her lectures are so boring, you will get asleep after 5 minutes "CAAAAASH, JOURNAL ENTRIES...... DEBITO^OCREDIT". and the final curve won't change your grade.
Un-involved with students with some real boring lectures, if you read the book you don't need to go to lecture but not vice versa. The book is helpful but real expensive with the online code which is required to do the mountains of time consuming homework. My advice is get 100% on every homework, you'll thank me when you get a D on every test.
late a lot. she goes through slides quickly. You cannot go to her personal office hours for help only to the school offered tutors or her TA office hours. Teaches the subject like it is easy but at times does not take the time to slow down and explain for questions. First test is a huge part of your grade, so study hard
Terrifying. Just absolutely terrifying.
Nori is very nice but here class is the worst class i have ever taken at wsu. Assigns multiple assignments a week that take hours each and are not worth much. Her tea are near impossible with zero study material. It feels like she thinks she has the most important class on campus and it comes first. Isn't considerate
She is very good providing one to one help. I got As on almost all the exams, if you try you will do well. Lecture was not the most helpful for me, Nori goes very fast as she expected you to know everything already. The textbook is going to be your bible, so get ready to read and try to understand. TAs are very helpful so try to meet with them.
Nori is a very good instructor. Go to class and actually pay attention to lectures as she covers everything in much depth to further your understanding. First exam will be major part of grade, don't slack. Do all homework, exams are based off it. Understand WHY you are doing transactions! Easy course overall if you put in the work.
(Global Campus) No recorded lectures, just copies of her PPT. I reached out to her about concerns before class and was told I was SOL. Multiple typos and font inconsistencies in the tests, even if you know the material, you will not score well. I actually love accounting, and this made me hate the subject. homework only 10%, but tough.
She teaches as if you already know the material. Explains things terribly. I learned more from a 5 minute YouTube video on one subject than a 50 minute lecture. She's an ok person, but a bad teacher. Be ready to teach yourself accounting. The class material itself isn't hard, it's just that you have to teach it to yourself so it's frustrating.
Most of the other reviews are accurate as far as hard tests that dont have anything to do with the homework. The interaction I have had with this prof has been unpleasant. Beware of "extra credit" assignments that aren't really extra credit. Ignores actual questions to answer what she presumed you were asking about. Really annoying experience.
So Nori is an alright teacher, her lectures aren't the best and her answering questions isn't amazing. Youll find yourself going to class because of Clicker points. Her Homework is really easy though, you can use online help to breeze through it quickly. Her exams are a little bit harder, and a lot of weight is given to the first one.
Nori has a strong understanding and knows the accounting material very well but does NOT know how to teach it to students learning accounting for the first time. She expects you to know the material after hearing her speak off of a powerpoint. The "curves" on tests and for the class are nonexistent and the average on our final was 57%
Already stating to hate this class. She's awful in explaining stuff. The work assignments are a hit or miss. Either you figure it out by yourself or you don't. She really shouldn't be teaching a class for people getting in acc.
She basically expects you to teach the material to yourself. Consistently adds homework on top of existing homework and exams without consideration of the work load, which would probably not be nearly as bad if we were not literally learning as we go.
I actually really enjoyed this class. If you read the chapters and watch the videos she assigns before class her lectures will make sense, and if you still don't understand the material TA hours are clearly defined and recommended. The online homework is pretty much impossible to not get 100%, and overall the class is not too difficult to pass.
Her lectures are boring and do not relate well to the exam material. Also each exam is so drastically different from the other in formatting it is hard to find a good study method. The videos online help more then her teaching.
Disappointing for an accounting major. Subject itself is manageable but it would be optimal to have someone capable of lecturing it!
Nori has designed Acctg230 to help us actually learn the material, unfortunately the class is still a hard class. You need the textbook for the online homework, AND DONT FORGET ABOUT IT. Also really practice the problems she gives out for the exams it will help
This class makes me regret choosing a business major. Extremely hard material to learn. I ended up just taking a W after getting a 27% on the first exam. The teacher herself is pretty boring too and it was really hard to focus. Trust me on this: If you suck at school as much as I do, just take this in the Summer as it's much easier to learn!
Possible the worst class ever take in my 14 years of school. Doesnt tell you anything, expects you to know everything. Test are impossible, projects are impossible. Horrible teacher all together. I would highly recommend never taking this course. Change your major if needed.
I had to drop this class mainly due to the professor. She would literally ramble in from of the class as if we knew what she was talking about. I could not believe that she has been a professor at this university, she's needs to learn how to interact and actually teach a class. She would literally move on knowing nobody has gotten the material....
Yes, this course is difficult and challenging but it is manageable. I highly recommend taking this course with at least 3 easy classes to go with it. This is because you are going to be spending a lot of time studying for this class. Nori is a fantastic professor. Yes she has her drawbacks but she teaches this course like an actual business course.
Never once attended lecture. All the info you need is in the video series she posts on BB. The projects were difficult but she lets you recover points by correcting them.
She might be the worst lecturer in the university that speaks English. If you want any chance of getting a good grade in her class, make sure you refill your adderall and start studying and teaching yourself becasue she will not be helping you out at all. Good luck
When I took the class we had 3 projects. The first took me 12 hours, second took me 10, and the third I was working with a person with a masters in accounting and she thought the project was ridiculous and it still took us 9 full hours.
I spent about 4 hours doing homework everyday and I still failed her exams and quizzes. Probably the most impossible course I have ever taken. Please take this course in the summer if you don't want your GPA to drop significantly. She isn't very mindful of students taking other classes besides her own, I never had time for my other classes.
Just took the final exam and i guarantee that about 80% of the class received a 40% or below. Her study guide for the final if you could call it that resembled nothing that was found on her final exam. Plus she tries to defend herself by emailing us 24/7 saying that she specified what was going to be on the exam when she clearly didn't. 0/10
Nori seems to really care about her students, whenever I went to office hours or emailed she was really nice. If you read the chapters, her exams are a lot easier and she grades everything on a curve and has a boat load of extra credit. Course projects youre guaranteed 100% if u do the recovery. Ppl are just mad they didnt study right
Tough course, but its a college accounting class... wouldnt have expected any different. Idk why people dont like Nori, she wasnt bad. Always kept us updated through email and was willing to help. My biggest problem is how she does midterm grades. Basically u get a C or F ( not an actual grade ) even if u have 100% on everything :/
I entered the final this semester with a 106% in the class after extra credit. I got As on both tests and knew this material very well. The final exam was impossible and brought my grade down 19% since I got a 30% on the final. Nori says all year that a whole accounting cycle is too much for 1 test, then expects students to complete one on th final
I became a strict Catholic, Muslim, and Jew just to pass her class. Forever thankful it worked because I could never take her class again. For real almost started crying of joy when I saw I passed her class. I would like to thank all the gods involved and chegg, mostly chegg.
As it was said before this is a college accounting course, its hard. That being said I enjoyed the class and how accessible Nori/the TAs were. Yes it was difficult at times but it was so so easy to get help if you needed it. My recommendations are to work hard, be prepared for the load, dont be afraid to seek help and go to class.
Yes, this course is difficult but its manageable. As long as you do the work, you will be fine. The professor is average. If you get to talk to her in person, she is really nice and accommodating.
The professor relies on TAs who don't sufficiently answer questions. They post a ridiculous amount of disorganized and superfluous content. The syllabus and schedule are no help. There is way too much irrelevant content and not enough organization or instructor interaction. This course requires a 30 hour a week commitment to be succesful.
It really sucks that she's the only professor for this class. She goes way to fast in lecture so it's impossible to take notes in class, her exams are ridiculously hard not to mention the fact that on the last exam she didn't even have enough exams for my row. The homework can take hours to complete beware the great adventures problems.
Writing this in tears after 18 hours of HW in the past 3 days. I had to take this class this semester for scheduling reasons and I regret EVERY SECOND OF IT. Every new assignment I'm like 'she's got to be kidding'. The amount of work is RIDICULOUS for an intro accounting class. Easily the most time consuming class. ABSOULELY NO TIME FOR OTHER CLAS
would never take a class with her again... this class is actually impossible and her lectures do not help; it is impossible to not zone out.
The way I see it, her lectures are so hard to follow that the only way you'll do well is by actually reading the book and doing alllll of the assignments she gives you. The exams are hard if you're not very familiar with the content and her lectures don't help much. Also, take her seriously when she says to study right from the beginning.
This class is a joke. How she has a job at the university is a miracle. Out of class, you probably having 20-30 hours of work, where you are basically teaching yourself because she does not teach. The tests are too hard and she does not simplify the content at all. For this class supposed to be an introductory course. It feels like going to hell.
Calling all people who ACTUALLY do work in school! Dont be deceived by all these people on this website who hate a teacher if they arent straight up handed a B. Nori makes sure that you know this stuff and its on YOU to get it done not her. Read the textbook its helps a lot!
Shes very nice and approachable but has a cavalier attitude about what you should know and what you should be learning, sometimes has little respect for students. i wish she would've been more clear about how homework is set up but shes overall very nice.
Lots of homework, but it's manageable as long as you do it before every class. TBH I learned more from the homework than I did coming to Nori's classes, they're just her regurgitating everything you read and learned already on the out-of-class work. The Accounting Cycle Project took me over ten hours and almost made me cry. TAs are very helpful.
awful class and she is horrible at teaching. no point in going to class other than participation since she just regurgitates what the online textbook teaches. i learned everything online and nothing from nori. as long as you do okay on the exams she will end up curving the final and the whole class by a lot - because no one learns anything from her
Go to class, easy "A" class
I was scared going into this class because of the reputation that Nori had for this class but it seems like maybe those led to her changing. I took her class Spring 2020 and found that she is very flexible and gave tons of homework extensions. She also curved our first two exams. If you go to class, you should get a good grade.
One of the worst professors I've ever had and I've taken a lot of college classes. So much useless information and I'm not talking about information related to course content, more like information about changing due dates, changing requirements, where she went last weekend. Also the homework doesn't prepare you for the tests. Find another teacher!
Very overwhelming class, if you need ACCTG 230 take it with a different prof.
Very unorganized class which will make you want to pull your hair out. You will spend 75 percent of the class navigating the course and 20 percent pulling your hair out and 5 percent actually studying and learning. You have to calculate you own grade because grades are spread out between three different websites.
She consistently cancelled class, does not write any of her own problems, makes you calculate your own grade, and uses 4 different websites that all require you to pay. Generally just a lazy professor who does not do any of her own work. I had taken an accounting class before college and thank goodness I did, because I would have failed.
This may be due to online classes, but she seems to have doubled her work load from previous semesters according to my roommate and she has done zero teaching, there was pre class homework on what she will be "teaching" This homework were videos and questions that could be worth 1 to 10 points but could have 50 questions.
I wish I was kidding when I say she is the only professor that teaches this class. I am not going to repeat what the other awful reviews have said but I just wanted you if you have to take this class that she harbored her fugitive son after being warned by the Lewiston County police. Its a miracle that she still can still teach at the university...
I usually don't have any issues with professors. This semester I had many issues, all of which were with this professor. The teaching method was very questionable. She cancelled a review session without any warning and rescheduled it via email 2 minutes before it was to start. Lots of time wasted figuring out stuff, we as students should not have 2
I honestly don't even bother paying attention in the lecture. I show up for attendance and then learn from the copious amounts of homework/outside work. If you can get another professor, I would. The homework isn't hard, there is just a LOT of it. I rate the lectures 3/10 at best.
Nori has her pros and cons. I have a hard time paying attention to her lectures and feel like I haven't learned much from them. You are looking at spending 2-4 hrs a week on homework that teaches you everything. However, she is incredibly nice and cares about her students, and gives a lot of extra credit and extensions on assignments.
Struggles to teach online - lectures were filled with crucial information yet incredibly dull, if you get behind in the first 2 weeks (which you absolutely will), it's practically impossible to catch up. Graded largely by incredibly lengthy and difficult mandatory-to-pass weekly assignments, as well as timed and poorly written tests.
One word, DON'T. You will get piles of homework; while 80% of them which are moderate difficulty, you have to watch out for the Mandatory HW, if you even miss ONE question, her syllabus threatens to not give a passing grade for the whole semester. The assignments are no joke and whether or not it's a bluff, not a cool thing to do as a teacher.
Nori is the most understanding and helpful professor I have ever had. Having never taken an accounting class before, Nori was just eager to help me and never made me feel bad for not knowing what I was doing. Lectures are a little boring, but what accounting class isn't? She is a top notch choice, and if I had to take another class, I'd pick her!
This has to be the worst professor in the business school. Her rambling lectures are extremely boring and its impossible to pay attention in the class. She took a one week leave of absence in the middle of the semester, and the substitute explained the material much better. Nori is also extremely harsh on grading. Good luck.
For an online class, this was the most demanding class I have taken. 32 assignments were due over a three-week period, some of them short, some of them took several hours to complete. This professor grades you on compliance, not your understanding, due dates were far more important than your comprehension.
This is one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. Nori is a very smart professor, but her teaching style isn't for everyone. In ACCTG 230, the entire class lectures then a bunch of homework that is very difficult that is all due on a certain date. I have taught myself accounting over the semester.
The class isn't terrible but if you fall behind you won't pass. There is 30+ assignment due every 3-4 weeks. Most of them are worth less than 5 points but will take you an hour to do. She does these problems that you have to get a 100% on to pass the class and they are not easy at all. She lectures a lot and it is hard to focus but she's super nice
I cant figure out what I didnt like about Nori, but I just didnt like her. This class has an ungodly amount of homework, and its unfortunate that shes the only professor that teaches this class.
Lectures are soo boring. Gotta read about 30 pages a week. Lots of homework. Exams are very hard. You need to schedule out your plan every week for this class. Nori is nice but I think it's time for her to retire. If you have past experience with business then you should do fine. If this is your first business relates class... good luck.
Nori is the worst professor on campus. Do not email her because she will shut you down for help immediately and was always extremely rude. There were 40+ assignments a month and it was impossible to keep up. There was mandatory homework you had to get 100% on to pass the class. This homework by itself took me 8+ hours to complete. Tests are hard!
While Nori is a nice person, she is not a good professor. There are three exams and each one matters. Her study guides are useless, I recommend doing the homework to study instead of using her guides. I recommend going to tutoring, if I hadn't of gone to tutoring I would have failed. The tutors teach the material better than her.
While Nori is a nice person, her teaching style is unorganized and makes learning extremely difficult. The Accounting Cycle Project was a disaster and the only way I was able to complete it was by going to the TA's office hours almost every day. Unfortunate how much the tests matter considering how little we learn in lecture.
ACCTG298 was kinda a mess ngl, but this honors class was SO worth taking! Accounting is hard, but lecture presentations, practice quizzes, videos, & study guides ("Q&A"s) are great. Pick and choose tho, lots of info. Put EFFORT into this class, Nori adjusts deadlines + grades easier if she thinks you & the class are actually trying
Nori is not only the worst professor I have had at Washington state, but also the worst teacher I have ever had. This women should NOT be teaching. She is unorganized, rude, condescending, and will literally make fun of students in class. There is hours of homework a week that is completely irrelevant to anything on tests and quizzes. DO NOT TAKE.
Holy crap, Nori is BY FAR the absolute worst professor on campus. I made the mistake of not looking her up on this website prior to taking the class and I wish I had. Her lectures aren't only extremely boring, but SO hard to follow. She has 0 capabilities at using technology successfully. If you do the HW and show up to class you can scrape a B.
her lecture is extremely bad, and it is impossible to keep up with a lot of materials she gives out. WSU should ban her from teaching.
Literally go to class and you will be fine. She is only not super nice of you don't show that you care about the class. If you attend class and show her that you pay attention she will be extremely understanding and open to giving you help.
In all my years of schooling I have never had such a bad professor. She is really kind but needs to retire. She always seems slightly lost and is not good at explaining any concepts in her lectures. She has changed the entire course schedule multiple times and has to curve the exams by almost 40% every time. Take anyone else, please.
Nori is simply the most unorganized, confusing, and frustrating teachers I have ever experience here. Outside of teaching accounting, I am sure she is a nice person and her intentions are good. However, she NEEDS to retire. My most recent interaction with her, she seemed so incredibly out of it and confused. Take this class with anyone else.
Do not take Nori for ACCTG 230. Outside of a lecture setting she is kind, but as a professor she is confusing, and hard to follow along. Her test scores averages are always extremely low, and she abides by a "learn on your own time" principle in which she expects you to watch videos to learn material, yet she makes attendance required.
Nori. Where do I even start. She hands out about 3 papers per lecture which you have to turn in every paper before the next exam. 4 assignments per week are due on the same day. Some are easy, some very difficult and so time-consuming. Lectures are dreadful. My backpack is full of unorganized papers from this class.
Whole class was chaotic and unorganized. A TON of assignments that take forever. Her lectures are boring and if she didn't take attendance I wouldn't have gone. I could've taught myself everything off of the online assignments. So many worksheets, a couple projects, and 2 papers. If you have another option, take it. It was an awful experience.
She's a nice person, but can't teach. Every single time she was asked questions, she didn't listen and answered incorrectly. She genuinely functions like she's losing her memory/cognitive function, and I genuinely don't mean that in a mean way. She also assigned 10 homework assignments (1-2 hours each) on the last day due to her poor planning.
Something that the other rating haven't mentioned much is that she assigned so many long worksheets on top of the online HW. I spent 5-7 hours a week doing the online HW, and the worksheets added 3 hours on top of that. They're not even helpful. One time we spent an entire class period organizing worksheets because she refuses to label them?
I had her for my online accounting class and she was very helpful. Always got back to my emails and explained things thoroughly. Zooms were recorded if you couldn't make it and I found she was very lenient with her grading for our main project. I've never been good at accounting and still passed with an A. If you can have her for an online course.
Nori's class is a challenging one, but unstuck ai proved to be a helpful study tool alongside the course materials. The workload is heavy, but engaging with the content and going to office hours can lead to a good grade.
The lectures were hard to understand, especially with the amount of papers passed out each class. However, she is very helpful if you have any questions outside of class and will try to make sure every student passes. Overall, the lectures are confusing but there is always help if you ask for it.
Probably one of the worst professors I have ever had. Avoid at all costs. She hands out too many packets during class. She has zero awareness of when things are due (she has changed deadlines numerous times), and her Canvas assignment descriptions are impossible to understand. The online homework is atrocious. Her still being employed is crazy.
Nori Pearson is the worst professor WSU has ever employed. She changes grades more than a chameleon changes its color. Over the course of one day, my grade has gone from a 97 to a 75 because she changes grades depending on her mood. I got extra credit that she decided was not worth the points she originally said they were worth. Glad she's retiring
