If you have ever been to a bad comedian and liked it, you'll like Norm too!
Norm really is a terrible teacher
Good teacher, and is interested in what he is teaching.
Looks like Robin Williams, acts like Bill Nye the Science Guy
Great teacher. makes class fun. 1 thing is IT is small, not his fault
No Comments
boring class, i'm not sure if hes a good teacher or not
Best CPS teacher at CMU
You go to the lab and he leaves.
His class prepares you for things you'll never use, and teaches you nothing.
Passionate about work; You will learn much from him =)
2nd Grade level class. Extremely easy. Well taught if you dont know about comps.
Boring teacher if you already know basic computer stuff.
Great guy! Class is easy but good teacher! Gives out candy for participating!
norm is a great teacher, class is very easy if you dont know anything, boring if you do
Wireless networking rocks!
Very nice guy, very understanding. CPS is boring, but he tries to make it fun. Always go to class the day before an exam, he does a good review and sometimes gives answers.

Norman rules. very creative likes class presentations and likes to cut down Al christensen easy to get good grade if u work ur butt off
Great teacher and always fun to work with! He is always willing to help!
Useless Class. Just study the guides off of blackboard and its an easy A. Attendance Required. Norm doesn't teach at all. The most he will do is run through powerpoint slides outlining information after you have had the quiz about it.
Very boring class, but Mr. Cregger is hilarious. If you know anything about computers, the class is an easy A, but it's boring. If you don't know anything about computers, just take the online practice tests a million times and its still an easy A.
Gotta keep up with the reading for quiz sake. Good time if you're into learning what's new in tech. Leo LaPorte watch out....
very easy class, but extremly boring. skip the lectures were you dont take a class quiz and take the practice tests online and you will get an A.
creggar likes to teach and looks out for the students. the class is easy if you do a little work.
Norm is awesome! My 1st semester at CMU (transferred). The friendliest out of all of my professors & the most helpful when I would ask questions, class related or not. Cares about students, loves to teach, great sense of humor. Study & you'll do well!
Great, funny guy. Can't get to know him well in this class because of the size of the lecture, but he tries to keep everyone interested. I think he knows CPS 100 is boring but he really puts the effort in.
very cool guy. very easy going and understanding. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
He's an alright teacher if you don't mind a TON of busy work. He often has a quiz on test days over another chapter. Cool guy, easy going and easy to get along with. Would be a better class if structured differently...Al C. is just a **** anyways...
Huh? Sorry, I wasn't awake for many of the classes, but it was CPS 100. =P
One of the best teachers I've encountered within the program here. Concise and informative as well as honest. Highly recommend and I hope to continue taking as many of his classes as possible.
Norm is cool and this class is like the rest he teaches. Not hard for a 400 level although all the work does suck at times and he changes quiz dates so you cant miss much.
Great professor who doesn't get the credit he deserves because he doesn't have the little letters after his name (PhD,etc.). Norm is da coolest.
Good guy, if you read the chapters and go over his study guides you can't go wrong. Little effort and you get an A.
Norm is a good Teacher. being he is working on his PHD he knows how students are. He is smart in his field. Cares about students. i recomend to take norm for any course he teaches. Im not saying his classes are easy, but you will learn a lot......
Class was a breeze. Just basically common sense stuff and lab activities are easy too. Just go to class to make sure you get the quizzes.
I took 465 over the summer with a great group...we had a lot of fun and learned a bunch at the same time. Norm is such an easy going kinda guy and really loves what he does...you can't go wrong taking a class he's teaching.
This class was basically "Computers for people who know nothing about computers". As such, it was pretty easy to begin with, but Norm made it fun with class discussion, a light, humorous attitude, and the willingness to spend more time chatting with students than actually working. Great, easy, fun.
Tests are not hard if you study. He is a fun professor and is a great teacher. A bit disorganized at some times and falls behind but with any decent backround in computer hardware you will do fine.
Very nice guy and tests are pretty easy. He was a little unclear about his "teacher special assignments" and most the class thought they were extra credit, but were actually not. I will still get a B+ even though I didn't do any of those assignments. Easy class.
I can't stand this guy. I took the class for an easy A and it put a big damper on my semester. The class average for tests was in the 60's. His lectures weren't helpful at all. I taught the class to myself!
this class was a complete joke... he is boring and its a waste of time to go to class, execpt he has ramdom quiz's... and the tests are ridiculous, some questions make no sense at all..the labs are taught by indians that dont speak much english p.s. kept making remarks bout ****s.. weird guy...
Very fun teacher. Jokes around with class a lot and makes everyone feel comfortable. Half the class is just messing around with a computer. Tests can be a bit difficult if you don't study, but if you do, then you shouldn't have a problem. I would definitly recommend him!
He's a nice guy. He does give some assignments which most students in the class have no background on, and then doesn't explain how to do them. AKA build a website, upload it. You'll have to study for the exams or you're gonna bomb. If you have some background in computers it's not that difficult.
im not going to lie, this class is very boring. but the work is easy. the tests can be hard but if you do the practice quests and review sheets you should get a B or above. Some of the projectsarent clear but you usualy get all the points on it anyways. i woudl recomend him
Class was boring and pointless at times. He gives random quizzes that are an automatic 10 pts but you have to be there. He puts a test question bank on blackboard with all possible test questions on it so if you do it over and over again tests are easy! Review sheets are exactly like the tests.
This man needs to learn how to teach I came into this class hoping for a great learning exp All I have gotten is a waste of my time He expects you to teach yourself EVERYTHING You will learn nothing from Norm Cregger Never lectures and never seems to be around to help out in the lab. Its a real sham
Very good instructor who enjoys teaching! Use of an older book put us at a disadvantage as there are two newer versions. Tests are normal difficulty as long as you study! This course was taught as more of a learn it yourself course with little lecture. Hands on is the key! Read book & u'll do fine!
Good professor, easy to understand and his class is useful. The lab for the class is good except for the lab instructor. I would recommend this class.
It is a really easy class, the only thing that I didn't liek was how boring the lectures were.
Super easy class. I actually learn well from the practice quests that he gives us to study off of. It helps me see the important parts of the book. I loved his classes.
Please....Learned nothing.
Don't Take This Man for MKT 300... sucks as a prof for MKT. Tests are insanely hard, quizes everyday BEFORE he lectures on the material on the quiz... BS
This class was very easy and the professor was very good. The lectures can be a little boring but the class is easy. He gives you practice quests before the tests that give you random tests questions. Take this class, very easy!
This class is so simple it's crazy. The week before the exams he will give out review sheets with the exact questions from the exam just reworded. The lectures are GOD AWFUL BORING, it's pretty easy to fall asleep in them... the only reason you need to go to those is his pointless attendance quizzes.
If you are looking to learn a lot from this class, i hope you can teach yourself. Norm is a great guy but a lazy teacher. Labs are terrible.
I thought I would like marketing, until I met this guy. Quiz nearly every class, even before a test. Pointless dribble. A monkey can do what he does in class, turn the slide and read it word for word. Quite possibly even worse than Dr. Hwang in BIS202! Now that is saying something!!! I HATE THIS CLASS WITH A PASSION!!!
norm is a nice guy, but when you take his exam for the first time, that will be diceiving. Ya know normy, for a first year maketing student, you might want to think about less questions on the exam and give us some time to think about each one....they're not easy and you don't really teach effectively.
Norm is a really great guy to hang out with and talk to, but he is not the greatest teacher. There is A LOT of material to cover and he may lecture once a month if your lucky. You do all the labs on your own the class is almost like an independent study course. So, in short, really cool guy, but try to avoid if you can't learn on your own.
Good class, good teacher. The lab is super easy. During the lectures, he pretty much just reads off of a powerpoint. Go to class though, he gives pop quizes but if you are there its an easy 10 pts. Overall, I liked Norm and the class could be boring but he relates alot of it to current events...so its alright.
This class is awesome to boost you GPA! Norm is the man...all the quizzes are attendance quizzes so you can write I <3 Norm Cregger and get 10 pts. Take it with a group of friends so you can take turns going. All in All this class is the best! I hated computers and still do but Norm is the man
He is a good teacher, but very boring. Its not hard to sleep in his class.
Took a basic tech course, made it kewl.
He is a bore. He uses computer lingo as if everybody understands what a giga bite watcha mucall it is. You can tell he knows a lot about computers and he's basically a big nerd who has the misconception that anybody gives a damn. His jokes are irrataing sometimes as well.
If you like being talked to in a rude, condescending manner then take this class!
All in all, CPS 100 with Norm Kregger is a very easy class, but let's face it, the guy is boring beyond belief. Granted he's very smart and knows what he's talking about, but he's a big nerd who treats everyone as if they are as smart as him. Most of the quizzes are based on attendance and unannounced, so you have to show up. But bring a pillow!
Very Boreing class but you need to go because he does to "class quizes" do TAIT in lab and Study the study guide before a test and u will get a good grade
One of the coolest Profs in the CPS Department. Knows his stuff and tries to help his students learn it. If you are willing to put the work needed into it, you will do well in his classes.
Didn't take notes and got a 97% in there. Easy class. Do all the work and find the terms in the chapter and you will pass with flying colors!
Very nice and smart... understanding with class conflicts... Funny and teaches in ACTUAL ENGLISH!
Dry Labs, very boring. Class assignments aren't creative or interesting. A lot of times Class feels like a waste of time. He does give practice tests which are identical to real tests. I've had him for 290,291, 465... Glad to be done
Great teacher! He really keeps the class alive and you'll have a good time in there. The class moves really slow and you'll never fall behind even when you skip class sometimes. Keep up on your TAIT projects! Those are worth the most points. Creggar is one of the best CPS teachers in the department. I highly recommend taking this class, it's easy!
All I can say about the review a few back is the person must not really be interested in the topics if it was that boring. The teachings are in the labs he makes you complete. Very interesting discussions in class at times. One of the few good profs at CMU's CPS or ITC. Can admit when wrong, or doesn't know, but still helps find answers.
Cregger is a really nice man. i found the subject somewhat boring, however he tries to make it more interesting by talking about stuff that is going on lately in the news with technology. do all the lab assignments and the few project assignments and you'll get an A. four tests and he gives you a study guide with the exact test ?'s for each one
So easy if you can't get an A in this class you shouldn't be in college.
nice guy, helpful, and interesting class. Pay attention, study, you'll do well.
One of my favorite professors. If you have to take any ITC classes he would be your best bet. Also his taste in ties is pretty amusing
Awesome guy! Maybe not the greatest at teaching to the whole class, but is very good at providing one-on-one answers while doing lab work. A group project/paper is always required in his classes.
I had him for Essential Business Skills I got C's on all four exams and my final grade was a B as long as you go to class and do what he says you'll be fine
Kind of a lot of work in this class. The myITlab stuff was very time consuming and frustrating. Lectures were easy though. He gives out free candy to people who answer his questions. Very funny and a nice guy. Study guides are a great help for the exams.
If myit was eliminated the world would be a better place. whats with making students learn subjects on there own? i thought this was school.!! other wise hes a good teacher
Class overall is really boring, but it is easy. Cregger is the best prof to have when taking this class though. He likes his sections to have the best grades on the exam so he gives a study guide that have pretty much the exact same questions as the exam.
If your going to take CPS 100, take it with Norm. His lectures are a little boring, but the subject itself isn't very interesting, so it's understandable. Just go to your lab, turn in your lab work, do this thing called Myitlab, and try to be present for his unannounced class quizzes. You'll get an A no problem.
The mandatory attendance is due to quizes and lab times. He likes to talk about himself a lot but if you show up and do your projects you'll get a decent grade. Each lab is only worth about 1% of your overall grade so if you miss one or two you'll be fine.
Yep. I liked Norm prior to this class but have since lost most of my respect for the guy. Doesn't teach a damn thing. Get ready to drop a lot of money to teach yourself everything.
Class lectures are a little boring but if you go for the un announced quizes and go to lab you should do fine. turn in the labs and projects and do myitlab.
He knows his stuff and is very clear on expectations and grading. All quizzes are opinion-based and the tests are very clearly laid out in the study guides. Spices up the Powerpoint presentations with videos and class discussion. If you don't' get a good grade you aren't trying. If you need to take CPS 100 Norm's the professor to choose.
Norm knows what hes talking about but doesnt really teach from the text book... alot of movies and inclass discussions that are useless on the tests. Lectures are aweful especially if you do not like technology. Make sure you go to lab and do MYITLAB and you should be fine.
hes great!
Do the readings! He has random quizzes all the time. A busy guy who can be hard to get ahold of, but he's very nice in class. It's boring, but he goes over powerpoints of EXACTLY what he wants you to know. He also posts practice exams for ALL of them, with many exact questions from the exam. Easy if you do what he asks and talk like you care.
DONT BUY THE BOOK! thats one thing i suggest its not needed and the one thing that is needed a program you can buy online for 65$ and not the book and program for 130$. Easy class exams are right off the study guide
Great guy to take a class from. Read the book, do the labs, come to class, oh yeah, do some studying to get an A.
This was an absolute waste of a class. Spent the whole semester talking about news that can be read outside of class. Lectured once, tests are very specific on terminology. Lab time was a complete waste. Felt like a waste of money and time just to show up for a grade.
Read the book, take the "Practice Quest" (several times), be there, hand in all the assignments on time, and anyone who cares and is will to work can get an A. That's all it takes (what you're paying for to go to school anyway!)
Awesome guy, very easy class, has some funny jokes most of the time
looks robbin williams with gray hair. has some amusing jokes. need to go to class for random easy quizes but the lab is ridiculously stupid and he doesn't help you in the lab.
Norm is a great teacher. He tries to make the class as interesting as possible. Be sure to bring your laptop to keep you busy. Attendance isn't mandatory, however there are 10 in class assignments through out the semester that you have to be there in order to get the points. As long as you do the study guides and "practice quests" it's an easy A.
Easiest class of my life. Don't let the lab scare you away its easy. Don't buy the book your wasting your money. I went to class because he is very fond of random quizzes. For the tests I used the online study stuff studied for maybe an hour and did great! Class time dealt with nothing on the exam. Easy UP just be prepared for busy work.
Easiest class! Don't buy the book, just the program for MyITLab, and DO IT because it's worth alot of points. Go to lab, and do the homework, and you get an A.
attendance not mandatory but random participation days writing our opinions on movies and such that we turn in to go with our lab grade. easy lecture, he is interesting and has a lot to say and always hyped about class. ITlabs suck don't procrastinate. study guides are easy 50 questions and same questions are on exam. LEs and PAs for lab are stupid
Class isn't mandatory but he gives out random in class quizzes which can make or break your grade. GO TO THE LAB. That's where a lot of the points are. The tests were the "practice quest" he put online so if you study that you'll get an A. I never used my book. Easy class for a UP, I suggest taking it if you don't mind busy work.
This guy is really awesome. Very nice, very helpful, and very entertaining. Random quizzes in class that are a free 10 points. Gives you study guides with all the test answers on them word for word. Just read the definitions in the book and do the study guides. Easy A.
Great guy and an easy grade! 95% of the stuff is done in the lab sections. Easy way to fulfill UP requirement.
This class is really easy, but has a lot of busy work that you will have to do as homework. Very easy to pass the class, and lectures fly by with videos.
My IT Lab took a lot of time and is worth a lot of points. If your not good at Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, or Access don't take this class.
Class itself is very time consuming and lots of busy work for a UP. but He really tries to make it fun and throws in videos, comics, and laid back talks about current events in addition to his lectures. busy class, but he tries his best to make it fun. great teacher. show up cuz there's unnanounced quizzes you can't make up...
Class is very easy do the study guide is exactly what the exam will be. The book isnt needed only use it fro study guides, which for the most part the questions can be googled and found way easier. Hes excited about the subject and i didnt really dread going to this class like i do most.
Go to class so you don't miss any quizzes and do the online work. He passes out a study guide for the exams, just know those and you will do fine on the exams. Pretty much an easy A depending on your lab instuctor.
Cregger is a good egg. He is one of the more competent in the IT department. The labs are time consuming and kind of a waste bc the text is out of date (the new edition is coming out in Jan/2013.) The sections have too much context to be able to cover fully in class so you will need the book & pwr points online. Read each chapter: random quizzes.
literally the EASIEST CLASS AT CENTRAL. Attendance is mandatory(participation),so many opportunities to gain points makes it IMPOSSIBLE to fail. go to lab, class, and do online assignment. guaranteed A+
Literally, Creggers CPS class could be taught by a high school student. He goes over 3 chapters a week which all have 100+ slide powerpoints. So each week you must study 300 slides of powerpoint notes. He also is an unorganized mess and he seems like he creates his lesson plan 2 minutes before class. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I WANT TO SWITCH MAJORS
This CPS 100 class taught by Cregger was very easy, but very unorganized. Class is mandatory because of the clicker system but DO NOT wait till the last minute to do the grader projects.. He will help you with extra credit, and there is no final :)
VERY EASY CLASS. So many points makes it impossible to fail, extra credit final, and so many easy points. DO THE PRACTICE QUIZZES FOR THE TESTS multiple times. . These quizes are the exact questions for the test in your lab. EASY A
Professor Cregger is a great overall professor. He replaced all of the essays we would've had to write with clicker questions. He did projects through the semester to cement understanding, and helped with whatever I needed help with. Great professor, and a great guy too.
lots of homework. have to attend class bc of clicker points. do practice quizzes before exams, they are the exam same questions. lots of exam credit. don't take this class unless you have to
Homework is hard to grasp and not talked about in class. Rough starting but gets easier
Cregger is a goofy guy and really tries to make his students laugh. Literally everyone stares at their phone through his lectures and if you are literate you should get an A. Super easy blow off class period. 10/10
I had a three hour into business class with him and it was a pain to sit through. He likes to tell a lot of uninteresting and off-topic stories. He does offer a lot of extra credit clicker questions, but they seem to be just because our class struggles. Very unorganized, and it's unlikely to hear back from him within the week if you send an email.
I really liked Norm; he seems like a funny, knowledgable teacher. The content of the course however, was really difficult and he wasn't much help. There was so much to complete in a 5 week frame with limited help available (There was one lecture and the rest of the 5 weeks were on your own).
Mr. Cregger is a good guy, but not the best for an I.T class. Has weekly quizzes that unless you can memorize small details from the chapter or past I.T experience your not going to do well. The exams seem to come from the book manufacturer and notes for the exams are useless. Be aware of the labs only get about an hour of lab time for 4 hour labs.
Well, I got over 100% in this class. He gives a ton of extra credit and barely grades the exams. As in if you show up for the exam you will get 100%. However, I was in his class the first year he taught this session so he could change things. Show up for the quizzes (There was a lot!) and you will pass.
Was a very nice guy and fun to talk to and joke around with. Had quizzes about once a week over the chapters from the textbook, so reading is essential. Will give practice tests before the big tests so if you take them you can memorize the answers and easily pass. Labs are extremely long and you will have to do most of it one your own time.
This class was super easy, it was just basically using Gimp to alter photos and creating animations in Hype. He was to help but isn't always able to figure things out when you have a question. Lectures seem pretty common sense, but that may because I'm into this stuff.
This was an incredible waste of time and money. Norm is a business professor trying to teach IT and CPS courses and failing. Most of the work is busy work and completely useless. You would be better off reading a book because that is all you'll do anyway. He lacks and ability to teach and instead assigns papers on modern tech to avoid doing work.
Hes pretty laid back and you will get an A if you just do the work as it isn't too hard, just lots of busywork. You can probably skip most lecture days, as he just reads off the powerpoint which he posts online. He assigns labs due once a week, which is kind of annoying, but they only take a half an hour to do. Overall goof prof and ez class.
Norm is a great guy, however the labs he assigned were nothing more than busy work that you are expected to complete weekly. It's an easy class if you can sit down for 6 hours a week to complete those huge labs.
Great Guy but all of the labs in the class are just busy work and take up so much of your time seeing as there is no way to get it done in the lab period.
Cregger is a hit or miss. He's a decent individual, but you will spend hours upon hours doing meaningless labs. Few labs are actually worth doing. I honestly didnt learn from him in this class. I taught myself more than he taught me anything for the whole semester. Also he doesn't read your emails if you don't follow his "email etiquette".
Awesome, knowledgeable dude. Loves talking to students about anything IT related. Strongly recommend! Get ready for the mega cregga!
Cregger is a hilarious dude and is very helpful when help is needed! Class wasn't too hard, just have to attend. I would take all his classes as he is an enjoyable professor!
I've had both ITC 190 and 265 with Cregger. At his "worst" he reads straight from the slides and can be kind of dry. Other times he was cracking a lot of jokes and was much more engaged with the material. His grading scale was weighted equally between exams and homework so no single big failure ruins you. Altogether I think he's a good professor.
Very laid-back, enthusiastic, and helpful. Outside of the very first class, attendance wasn't taken. All you have to do is complete an Excel spreadsheet once a week.
Norm seems like a nice guy, but he should NOT be teaching. Let me spell it out like this: if you have any questions at all related to unity, you are on your own. He tries to help but he is incapable. If you are able to take this class with a different professor, for your own sake, please do so. His class is a huge waste of time/money.
Norm is a nice guy, but he should NOT be teaching. If you have a question, you are on your own. He will try to help, but he is incapable. It's like having your grandparent who has no experience with technology teach a class on unity. It's an easy class but you won't learn anything.
Norm's a nice old guy. He is pretty enthusiastic with is appreciated. However, cps282 is basically just how to use Unity. His troubleshooting skills if something goes wrong on a Unity project is limited.
Norm is a nice guy. The lecture periods can be boring and the labs are often not exciting. There's a lot of homework, which you can either choose to put lots of energy into and get lots out of, or just have the videos run in the background
Norm is one of the most genuine professors I've ever had. He is very understanding and will accommodate to your needs. His classes are just challenging enough and are full of interesting and useful information. I've taken many Norm classes during my collegiate career and this has been consistent throughout. Amazing professor.
Norm is a fun professor, but the class has a lot of busy work. The labs take a lot of time outside of class. Using resources like Unstuck AI helped me stay on top of the work and get an A.
I liked this class a lot, it was pretty fun and made me competent at using Unity. You're graded by attendance, a couple of labs, a group project, and 2 exams. None of it is really that bad, the exams are quite repetitive though and focus mainly on unity rather than the other stuff we get in our textbook.
