Great Teacher, Very Helpful, Inspiring!

Norm's speech classes can be enjoyable, and Norm is truly a pleasant person. His classes can be a little too touchy-feely , however.

Norm is a great teacher, very cool, candid and unbiased when talking about issues. He doesn't just focus on the most controversial issues (those which have been played out).

Norm is the best professor I've ever had. He knows his stuff; is hilarious; and everyone loves him. You will learn a lot from this class. He believes a student learns more when he/she is in class so if you have perfect attendance: no midterm or final.

He's a really great professor...very funny and nice. Gives you great feedback on how to improve your speech. I definitely recommend his class.

Possibly the best teacher and person I have come to know eversince stepping on the OCC campus. He will help with anything you need whether in or out of the classroom. If it was'nt for him, I probably would'nt have turned in my last essay for his class

Norm is a great teacher when it comes to speech if you just put in ur effort which is not very much compare to other classes its a guarantee A he gives u free points for the final and midterm if u go to class everyday and if you miss class youcanmakeit up

Norm is such a great teacher! I have had him for both speech 100 and 110, and recieved A's. It's not that hard and he makes it very clear what is excpected of you. Take him, you won't regret it

Best speech teacher ever! Very clear on what he wants and just put in effort to get an A. He's very nice and willing to help you anytime. Lots of chances for extra credit and if you go to class daily...don't take midterm or final. He's awesome!!!

Norm is a great guy and very funny too. Couple of point from an A, but turned in my extra credit work and NEVER even boosted up my grade! Overall, the class is pretty easy.

His class was very easy and enjoyable. I took him during summer (6week class). There is alot of papers to write but they are easy and he grades easy too. You have to do a book report and a film report for an A-grade.

Norm is a great professor. Before coming into his class, I was very shy and afraid. At the end of the class, I not only got an A, but also had one of the highest grades. I looooved his class. It's helped me a lot in public speaking. Take him!

one of the greatest teachers I've had. By the time the semester ends, you'll wanna take another class with him.

Speech 130 could be a little tough becuase you actually have to do a lot of research and writing. I learned so much from this class and Norm will help you so much. He is soo wonderful!and he always loves to help students do well in the class.

The first day of class he makes it seem like he's a hard ass but its just a scare tactic. Most classes bore me to the point where I don't want to return but I found myself more than happy to make it to his class. His homework is easy and so is his class...a highly recommended teacher.

I had no interest in this class before taking it. I loved going to this class though. I acctually looked forward to it. EASY to get a 100 percent. He grades easy. Fun assignments. and there are no finals; if you have perfect attendence. This guy basically rules.

I'm into my 3rd week of school and so far Friker has only given us 2 assignments! The class is pretty chill, we basically debate over controversial issues! He's got an awesome personality, great character & cracks jokes like no other! If you have perfect attendance...no midterm nor final!

He's funny and all but he grades a lil bit hard on da speeches. He expected you to memorize da 3rd speech which most people didn't do a good job on. sigh. But he's cool becuz there's no final or midterm if u have perfect attendance. Overall, he's ok...not grading too easy though.

Not the easy A you expect! Norm is a very fun teacher, but you really have to work hard for an A, lots of research for each paper. Theres no final or midterm if you have perfect attendance wich is a plus!!

Excellent teacher, i got an A in his class just spend some time writing the papers he assigns, and show up with perfect attendence throughout the semester and your good to go!

He is my hero. He taught me so many things and I still carry what he taught me. I took two classes with him almost two years ago. They were all great. He is very helpful and caring. I really think he is a great teacher and great person.

Overall he is a good teacher but a bit of a hard grader. class moves extremely fast so always be on your feet. only problem i had with him was he picks favorites in his class and if your a favorite hes always willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on grading.

Great teacher! As long as you listen what he wants from you, you will do great in the class. Do the outlines like they are in the book and then follow it while you are speaking and you'll get an A. Semi entertaining class.

Great professor who is very personable and easy going. Don't miss a class and follow directions on assignments to do well. The c lass was fun with lots of interactive group participation including a trip to South Coast Plaza. I left this class learning a lot and obtained useful skills in communication.

He is an awesome teacher. This is my third year in college and he is by far my favorite teacher. As long as you go to class and do your assignments hes an easy A. If you don't miss any classes then you don't have to take the midterm or the final. Awesome!

This guy is cool. He is totally understandable, tells you exactly what he wants and as long as you do it, you'll get an A. I have gotten an A on all of my speeches. He likes to talk about current events and controversies. Totally approachable and a very enjoying class. Take him.

Good teacher. i got a B on my first speech and have gotten an A on everyone since then. I hate speaking infront of people and this is my favorite class of the semester! He is interesting and the speeches are fun, just make sure you go to class and you won't have to take the mid-term or the final.

This class was pretty simple, 3 papers, 5 h/w's (one was during class), 3 quizes. If you're a shy person you might have a problem with participation grade, but just answer questions every so often and you'll be fine. If you need to take this class for anything, I strongly recommend this teacher. Assignments are straight forward and easy to finish!

Great instructor, not an easy A considering that you write 3 papers that make most of your grade, tho they are more research than writing really. This worked much better for me than Logic which I dropped. Perfect attendence = no mid-term. He also let's you revise your papers.

I enjoyed this class because I never felt like we didn't have anything to do. It is an easy A as long as you do the work. Primarily your grade consists of 3 papers which are not that bad. And a plus is that if you have perfect attendance you do not have to take the midterm or final. He was very personable with students.

this professor is definantly one of a kind... at the beggining i thought it was hard and didnt expect that much work but honestly the work was worth it... 3 papers plus dailyattendance u will do and get a good grade... i got an A and u can do it

GO TO CLASS(you dont have to take the exams). I was scared of publically speaking until this class. It was fun and you get to know your classmates really well. I got an A plus when at the start I was only shooting for a C

Funny Guy! GO TO CLASS! If you attend every class day you don't have to take the final! Take notes! You can use them on the test! Keep everything for the notebook! Really cool teacher! Do all the assignments, they are way easy. I slacked, but don't be a slacker! Its such an easy class! TAKE HIM! His jokes can be stupid, but he has way cool stories!

Wonderful wonderful wonderful! He is a great professor...you learn alot and he really builds your confidence, I wish all professors had such class and style in their teaching. My favorite class and I was scared to take it!!Probably one of the best at OCC!

Norm is a very nice guy. The class had papers that you had to spend time writing but it allows you to learn about current events and policies. The quizzes and tests are easy and he gives you extra credit opportunities. If you have perfect attendance you don't have to take the midterm or final and he even lets you make up absences. Good teacher!

Norm was a really good teacher .....you have to do 4 papers the first two are not tuff but the last two are way tuff..........he is very understanding and you can get an A in the class if you just do the work....if you don't miss class you dont' have to take the midterm or the final

Great professor for public speaking. The 11:10 class in Spring 08 was so much fun, with cool people. The positive classroom atmosphere helps you develop into a better speaker. Norm is a generous grader, so take this class!

Not to mention that he is really funny; he makes the class worth going to. Plus if you go everytime you don't have to take the midterm or final! I wish he taught all of my classes!! Thanks Norm!

Fricker's funny and entertaining. The class is alot of fun and you have the chance for a ton of extra credit. And on the learning side, I do feel like I am better, more knowledgeable speaker.

Oh yeah and I forgot to get a shout out to my 8am class. WHO WANTS TO GO GET SOME CHIPOTLE??? hahaha

Took this class in the summer. Extremely easy. He's a very generous grader but I also learned a lot. Lots of work though you gotta be on top of the reading and there's a lot of essays to write, especially for a speech class. Other than that, Prof. Fricker is a very easy going guy, very personable.

Awesome prof, you will learn a lot. Easy class if you do all the work on time. Attendance is madatory, read the chapters to do well in your speeches. Extra credit availble, but do not rely on them. I will definitly take 130 with him!!!

If you want an A, come to every lecture, follow his instructions on assignments and minimal studying for two tests. This class is fun and if you don't miss any lecture, he'll give you an A+ for midterm and final.

Prior to taking this class, I was intimidated because I hate speaking infront of the classroom etc. But in this class you'll learn to become comfortable. Norm is awesome and funny. Do all assignments and pay attention :) The 4 essays are NOT hard, just require time and good citations/sources. I wish I could take more classes with Norm!

i didn't like his class at all. it was not interesting at all. but he is easy. i did not try at all and it was a breeze. i got a B.

just another writing class. very boring materials as well as "speech" topics. he can be mean but overall a good guy but class is boring. grading is very fair and ended up giving me an A when i was only 3 points away from A- so hes pretty nice and helpful. quizes and test are easy. learn to write and follow the formats or hes takes off points

Don't say Norms class is "easy" because it isn't. I received an A but worked hard for it. I am a communications major and this class was really great, but you have to work hard to get an A. Norm is a great guy who will do anything to help you understand this course. Attendence, participation is absolutly manditory. Great professor, and funny!

Norms essentials of argumentation class was by far the easiest classI have ever taken. Have an A in the class and i'm a dumb dumb and had almost a 100% through out the class.There is three essays, but he walks you through them! If you get lower than a C you can redo it! Homework takes 5 min!Take for an easy A.Perfect attendence=No Midterm or final

Norm is the best! This class is challenging but it is not impossible to get an A as long as you do all of the assignments. He is a very fair grader. He is helpful and cares about his students. Take this class!!

Pretty chill class for an old fella. If you are there everyday of the semester you get an instant 100% on the midterm and final. He is very knowledgable and gives you advice on almost anything you ask him. You must raise your hand and participate in class, it is about 15% of your grade.

Norm is awesome!! Makes it very clear what he expects from you. 4 speeches the whole semester and that's it. Gives great feedback on outlines. Sort of picky and doesn't hand out A's on speeches, but overall easy. No midterm or final with perfect attendance, which you can make up if you miss. Very laid back atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Take Norm if you are going to take public speaking. He is the best and really helps you. No final if you have perfect attendance and 4 speeches for the semester. Don't procrastinate, if you try, you will succeed.

Go to class every day and you won't have to take the midterm or final! Other than preparing for your speeches (easy formats to follow online), there's minimal h/w and it's all very easy. He gets mad if students don't show up or don't do their h/w but other than that, he's a really nice, chill guy.

Only 4 speeches and a couple of assignments. Pretty easy A if you do well on your speeches. You don't have to take the midterm or final if you show up to class every day for attendance. Gives good feedback on your speeches and will always help if asked to. You will need the textbook and you can purchased it used for $30 at the Fairview bookstore.

Professor Fricker is a great instructor. He outlines very clearly his expectations. It's on you to follow through. He's understanding, but you have to put in the effort. If you don't, good luck. He's a fair grader and gives great feedback for improvement.

Very likable as a person and professor. Gave clear instructions for assignments. Accessible outside of class through phone and email. Great sense of humor; never bored once. Grades fairly with excellent feedback. Textbook is required. Participation is KEY; do not miss your day to speak. I'm very shy but looked forward to going to his class.

There's a total of 4 speeches where 2 of them are short speeches. He is nice and gives students a clear idea of what is expected for each speech. It's an easy A class if you turn all the assignments on time. Put effort in those essays because it does matters. He's a great professor overall!

Mr. Fricker is a great professor, there was only 4 speeches and you dont take the mid-term or final if you show up to class everyday, overall hes a funny guy and he likes when students participate. I liked his class because he was very chill and easy class to pass.

I loved Norm. If you want a very easy public speaking class take it with him. He lets you make up absences by attending the class right after, and if you have perfect attendance then you get 100% on midterm and final, and get the day off. As long as you do the work thoroughly and ask questions, you'll do very well. Great Professor, Great class
