Professor Gardner was kind, caring, and a great teacher! His lectures were entertaining and he did not force participation. I enjoyed his lectures and I loved his slideshows.

Brother Gardner is super awesome and caring! Living Prophets is super well taught and he does a great job with his lectures. There is attendance quizzes for each period, but they are easy. Extra credit is available.

Super nice professor, cares for the students a lot. Has a lot of passion for the topics he teaches, which is interesting and engaging. Not a hard course as long as you stay on top of the homework and start early on the projects he gives you.

Norm is a great guy and a great teacher! He loves the things he teaches about and is very knowledgeable. If you stay on top of it and are aware of whats going on in class, you will get an A. Fun class!

His class is super easy and it's hard to fail his class. He has an attendance quiz with a password before class and are allowed to miss 2 classes. Overall all the projects, assignments, and homework are not hard at all.

If you're looking for a meaningful but easy religion class take this one. There is only one test that's open note and on learning suite and only two big projects that take time but aren't hard. Gardner's lectures were always super meaningful and you can tell he cares and prays for the students in his class.

The assignments are meaningful, not busy work, and the final is open note/slides. He's very accommodating and helped me when I traveled this semester. Highly recommend!

Brother Gardner is awesome! He is very inspiring, and you always leave his class wanting to know more. He gives readings for every class but can easily be read or listened to in a few minutes. I learned a ton in this class, and my testimony grew even more!

Class is well organized and super easy. Great class to take for a religion credit during a hard semester because this class offers almost zero additional work. Fun and caring teacher who understands the content he is teaching.

Incredible professor. Class has a few assignments that are not graded harshly, the main focus is learning truth and doctrine. The readings are much lighter than other religion classes yet still have all the content you need. My favorite religion class at BYU, 10/10 take this class from him and no one else.

Professor Gardener is an amazing professor who is here to increase his students' testimony and confidence in the restored gospel. He does as much as he can to get every student a good grade.

He is an excellent teacher. He is so willing to help all of his students, and he makes it very easy to get an A in his class. All tests and exams have been open note. Each lecture would have maybe 30 minutes of reading to complete in advance. There was a easy 3 question quiz at the beginning of each class. Definitely take his class.

10/10 would take this class again. He lectures every class, but he is funny, caring, and knows how to teach with power. He handled controversial church topics very well. Both midterm and final were open note and online. Only 2 easy papers. 3 question reading quizzes at the start of every class. TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HIM

Brother Gardner is the best ever! He is soooo nice and super knowledgable. I felt the spirit every class and my testimony in the Restoration has definitely grown. the work load is super easy which is amazing because you can actually focus on the most important stuff. He always linked things back to Jesus Christ. Please take this class from him!

I absolutely love Professor Gardner for his love of the subject matter and the sheer depth of his knowledge. He would cover very difficult church history topics in a thoughtful way and was very good at responding to any questions students might have. Class was super easy, yet interesting.

He is a knowledgeable and passionate teacher! I learned some great things about the restauration and gained perspective on answering gospel questions. The quizzes every class weren't too bad, especially if you did the reading. He told us the questions that would be on the tests beforehand, so it was easy to be prepared for tests.

Brother Gardner is an amazing professor. His class is the best class I've ever taken at BYU. He only had a few assignments and the 1 midterm and the final were open note. He cares more about helping your testimony grow instead of testing your ability to memorize information.

He was a great teacher! He's passionate and caring and wants us to do good and learn about Jesus Christ. He wouldn't put a final in unless BYU forced him to put one in. He just wants us to know that we are loved and he wants us to use the class to strengthen our testimonies and learn how to find answers for questions. :)

This class was great. My testimony grew so much, if you are planning on going aim a mission and want to develop your testimony of Joseph Smith take this class! Brother Gardener really cares and puts effort into the lesson. He answers questions and wants to help you. He is so understanding.

Professor Gardner was an amazing teacher and I absolutely loved coming to his class every week. The classwork was very little, only some pre-readings every class and a couple short papers. He did everything he could to make sure we had a spiritual growth and understood what we discussed in class. I would love to take another class with him.

This was one of the best religion classes I have taken. Brother Gardner did a wonderful job teaching the class. It was his first semester teaching at BYU but has more than 2 decades of experience teaching institute. I can't recommend him enough. I hope to take another one of his classes in the future.

This class was most definitely my favorite this semester! Brother Gardner knows so much about the topic he is teaching which allows him to be more adaptable within lectures and make class so fun/entertaining! There are quizzes at the beginning of each class, but if you do the reading you are all good. I highly recommend taking this class from him!

He's a great professor! I would highly recommend him. As long as you do the readings, the quizzes are easy and the essays were graded very easily.

I love Professor Gardner! He was very lenient in class and would practically give you the answer. He is also lenient on the midterm and final. He is such an awesome guy and you could tell that he cares about his students. Make sure you do the extra credit! It is super easy and boosts your grade a ton.

Gardner is the best! He clearly knows his stuff and gets excited talking about church history and the restoration. I didn't know someone could talk about that stuff and make it not boring. A couple chapters for reading before class, reading quiz each class, and like 2 other assignments during the semester make it a very chill class.

TRUST ME, take this class from Prof. Gardner! He's very kind and understanding and it's not hard at all to get an A. There's one group project but it's easy.

Super great professor!! Absolutely recommend taking any class you can from him! He doesn't believe in busy-work that doesn't actually help, so his course is set up for the most learning but isn't hard at all.

Norm is the best. Attendance is mandatory but you get 4 free misses throughout the semester. 1 Midterm, 3 easy projects, that's basically the whole class. Exams are open note. Chances for extra credit too. if you need another religion class TAKE IT FROM NORM!

Brother Gardner is awesome. He is focused more on his students feeling the spirit and being uplifted than making it an unnecessarily rigorous course. There were a few assingments but none were too difficult. Attendance is required, but he is also very willing to work with you. All around just a great stress free, uplifting, and enjoyable class.

Bro Gardner is the Goat. Awesome class. We only had one exam (a midterm) and two projects to which he was super lenient. He was kind and I turned my midterm and both projects in late and got full credit. Good person and interesting lectures.

Highly recommend taking Living Prophets from Norm. Super easy to get an A, and you will learn a lot from him. He has a lot of cool stories from working at church HQ that he shares throughout the semester.

Dr. Gardner is amazing and his class is very attainable to get an A in. He makes living prophets so interesting and is so passionate. His projects are very practical, which makes the class enjoyable. The projects are always designed to help you strengthen your testimony. You won't regret taking his class.

Homework and exams are super easy, he's super understanding and really funny. I would take him again any day.

Brother Gardner is AMAZING! I wish all religion courses were like this! He is wonderful at creating a spirit filled experience, shows genuine concern and love for his students, and helps you learn. There is a password based quiz for attendance, but you have basically 4 allowed absences. There were a few projects, but they genuinely add value.

Professor Gardner is awesome! In the Living Prophets he makes things super low stress and is really understanding of what its like to be a stressed out student, so would often make accommodations to help us out. He does do reading and a few big projects but they're way easy. He really wants us to not be stressed out.

Professor Gardner is literally the greatest Religion professor I have had at BYU. His class is focused on learning the gospel and feeling the spirit. There is pretty much no homework, and all the exams are super easy. If you want to learn church history without the stress of mid-terms and busy work, then take this class.

This class was amazing. Even though the content was based on the history of the church Brother Gardner was really good at being guided by the spirit to make all of his lectures applicable to his students today. he is super caring. The few assignments and tests were REALLY easy:) attendance required but he drops 4.

He is the best religion professor you could have at byu. He knows how busy students are and so his classes are to be enjoyed without extra stress. There's no busy work but the assignments you have are interesting and simple. 10/10

Brother Gardner is so caring and makes each lecture enjoyable. He understands as students that we have other classes and makes sure not to overload us with homework. I took him during the winter semester and in the class we had two papers to write, attendance quizzes in the beginning of each class, and the exams are pretty simple. Amazing teacher!

You just do the readings and then there are in class reading/attendance quizzes which are really straight forward. There are two short, simple essays. The lectures were always so full of the Spirit, curriculum is well constructed, and he has a lot of insider knowledge to share because he helped write the institute manuals! There are two tests, super easy open note. He cares so much, is so kind & accommodating! Would definitely recommend, I loved his class!

Professor Gardner was AWESOME. He's an expert in his field and is very enthusiastic about sharing his expertise and knowledge. The lectures were interesting, and it was not difficult to get a good grade as long as you showed up to class.

Brother Gardner has a wonderful background in uncovering and answering hard questions in church history. He dissected issues in a way that was never stressful. All tests were online and straightforward; he took care to make sure that this wasn't a hard class, but that you came away with increased confidence in your understanding of the restoration.

Genuinely the best. He understands that, as students, we do not learn through homework assignments. Exams are open notes; we can refer to all class slides. He learned all the students' names before the first day of class! Just the sweetest guy, and he knows what he's talking about. Takes all questions and answers them sensitively yet profoundly.

Literally take it from him. Super chill guy and genuinely cares about you. Homework was non existent other than 2 easy papers throughout the semester. In person quizzes each class but as long as you have common sense and read the readings before class you are set.

Homework was 30-60 minutes of reading before class, and 2 short papers throughout the semester. Only 2 tests that are super simple and open-note. He has attendance quizzes, but a few of them are dropped. He really tries to make life easier for his students. Brother Gardner prioritizes inviting the Holy Ghost more than busywork or tough grading.

Really knows his stuff and is not afraid to dig into the hard things. Gives as few assignments as possible. He's not the most engaging lecturer, but it's easy to follow and the presentation is well made.

I have no idea why people are rating Dr. Gardner poorly, he was awesome! His classes were spiritual, and most importantly, his class was REALLY manageable. It would be almost impossible to fail his class. Attendance is required, but there were quite a few days when I wasn't able to make it and I still easily got an A. Best religion class ever!

GET NORM! He loves what he teaches and you can feel is love for the restoration in his lectures. There is barely any homework and the midterm was the easiest thing ive ever done. He just wanted to create a space where we could ask the hard questions about church history and he was so good at answering the questions everyone had. He was incredible.

This is probably my favorite religion class I've taken at BYU! You could tell how much Brother Gardner cares about his students. I thought the lectures were fascinating and inspirational. I've never said this about a religion project before, but I really loved the gospel topics project, and thought it was really helpful and insightful for our life.

Professor Gardner is my favorite religion professor (so far) at BYU! Every single lecture feels like a devotional. He is so honest and faithful about hard topics in church history. I was surprised by how much I learned! There's a short quiz each class about the assigned readings, one 6-page paper, and 2 exams. I highly recommend him!

The easiest religion class I've ever taken, and I still felt the Spirit and learned a ton! There's two open-slide midterms, and all the answers are in the slides.
