and HOW did she get to be a teacher???
Norma gets confused often
No Comments
difficult material but rewarding. Norma can help; you just have to ask lots of questions.
Terrible teacher. Alot of homework
Did an alright job overall. She was confused on some of the topics she was teaching though, and when a teacher doesn't know what they're teaching, it can be rough going.
Bad instructor, nice person. It's difficult to learn when the teacher doesn't understand all the topics.
way too much homework, teaches wrong ways to do things compared to other teachers in the same class
Doesn't really know what she is doing, assigns a lot of HW at one time, and then changes directions for it, so that you don't know what to do. Expects you to pick up new programs in a day of "instruction" (if you can call it that). Nice person
She's a nice person, but her teaching skills leave room for a lot of improvement. Be prepared to be confused.
wow she's a winner
Wow, she is so unclear. Tons of homework. Thank god you are in a team. Just hope that there is someone in your group that knows what the hell is going on. I think she needs to just let the TA, Ravish teach the class. He would make a hell of a lot mor
Knows material well enough for her to understand. Has a real hard time conveying complex thoughts to the class. Also she doesn't hold a PhD. thats mostl likely where the university went wrong in hiring this one. Good luck in the course.
All i have to say is dont take any class with her if possible
WTF? How can such an easy class be made so hard? I passed AP physics, english, and calc before taking this class and I still got a B. The homework is impossible.

Avoid at all costs. You will be spending all of your free time in the lab.
This is an excellent teacher that shows lots of examples and willing to help. The classes she teaches are horribly structured and she has very little say in how she can structure the class. Teachers that do not have their PhD are better at this school.
I dunno, she means well, she knows her stuff, she's a fairly nice person. But, questionable that she is that able at using the programs that she is teaching us to use. Today, I made a matlab program that was better than the one she made, and in less time.
All i've gotten out of going to class is homework. I don't learn anything by getting handed something and told do it. Needs to try to acutally teach something instead of just handing out more work

She has no idea what she is doing. She gives a a lot of homework one week and a ton the next, and then laughs about it saying it balances out. I would stay clear of this women at all costs.

not to hard on grading, but she says if you do the minimum on homework assignments then you get a C, which is fine with me, but she doesn't tell you what she expects you to do to recieve and A.
Needs to be tutored on subject material. I could probably teach it to her. Classes are boring and uneducational. After an entire year in the GENENG program, I still haven't learned anything about engineering. GenEng has to go.
he's cool
She's acutally forgiving a lot of the time and she tries to be nice, but I sure didn't learn much. I learned more in the first week of my summer internship about CAD and "eng fundamentals" than I did during the entire semester in her class.
Not a very good teacher. Dont let her find out youre an athlete. Very annoying and boring.
writes too much notes
Horrible Professor, she is very unclear. HARD EXAMS...gives you questions that you never went over in class! Very Tough---DON'T TAKE HER FOR ANYTHING!!!
Femi-Nazi, and the worst teacher alive. You can manage to ace all the quizs and homework and still fail the class miserably.
Very unclear on anything. I dont think she even knows what she is talking about. She throws many curveballs on the tests. Hates athletes. Overall very annoying teacher.

she is helpful if you ask questions and make appointments with her if you are having trouble and she is easy if you pay attention
She is**** guzzling gutter ****, she will not help you but point you into very vague direction and will not help you. She grades her homework extremely hard, seriously i got a point off because my staple wasnt on the paper correctly, and there was nothing in the syllabus explaining any staple positioning rule. you will want to die a horrible death
she is one of the worst professor ever if you can manage it avoid having her at all cost doesnt know how to teach and when you ask a question doesnt give you a clear answer plus goes through the slides way to fast even if the information is important or not
Very Boring Teacher, Makes you want to fall asleep instantly.
Norma isn't too bad of a teacher. She is always ready to help out during office hours if you're having trouble. Her exams are kind of tough and she isn't the best lecturer but other than that she's not too bad.
Kind of a beotch, very uncooperative during class time, and holds grudges for a long time

I thought Norma was a nice teacher. She is always willing to help you if you need it and doesn't make you feel stupid while doing it. One thing I found unnerving is that her examples were often easier than the problems she assigned, and her tests were kind of difficult. Overall I would say she is a good teacher.
Nice lady, terrible teacher.
She is somewhat of a good lecturer, but very hard to work with. I had an extenuating circumstance, so at the beginning of class I couldn't hand in my homework after class I asked her if it was still ok to turn it in, I even pulled everything up on the computer to prove that I had done the assignment, and she just said no that I don't take late work
She treats me like i'm retarted because i'm in a fundamentals class.

Nice Lady
Beware if you have a class with her. She is not very easy to work with.
failed at being a waste water treatment engineer now back at MTU to screw us all over in life by never getting out of tech. very **** wont help us guys out at all and says we are wrong all of the time even if she gets the same answers. hope you get a girl in your team, and have her ask all the questions. only way to get answers.

Very demanding class. Lots of homework! Double check homework before you hand it in. Stupid mistakes add up quick. Tests aren't overly difficult. Just come to class and pay attention and you should do fine.
Very hard teacher. She is fairly clear but if you don't understand something it is next to impossible to get her help during her office hours. She acts like you are bothering her. If you do your work she will be extremely picky while grading it. When I signed up the professor was TBA so I had no opportunity to avoid her.
Very boring class unless you enjoy writing codes for fun. Exams are hard, i don't understand why we have them in that class because we learned nothing.
Easy enough, good with NX5 but not always helpful
She was very unwilling to help during her office hours and left most of the clarity work to her TA. She makes you feel like it's your fault for not understanding but wasn't clear in the first place.
I'm not sure why other people didn't think she was helpfull, every time I talked to her she was fine. Not super friendly, but good enough. I got and AB without too much extra effort
Shes a joke
Only complaint I have with this class is the TA's grading methods. Other than that I felt that Norma cared about the students and wasn't hesitant to give back points wrongfully taken off of assignments.
Not a bad teacher. Go to her office hours frequently if you need help and she will help you a lot. It helps if she knows your name too.
Pretty good teacher. she has her "on" days where she is really willing to help out, and her "off" days where most of what you did is wrong... She has a pretty funny dry personality, and warms up when you get to know her. She is also really good at names. like... REALLY good at remembering your name.
She's very patient and always willing to help out if you get confused. As long as you show up and pay attention the class won't be so difficult for you. As far as homework goes...we're almost always given the opportunity to finish it in class so it definately doesn't add stress to you're daily homework load.
it's quite obvious that she has never actually held a job as an engineer, when confronted with questions in class she usually blames the software. the first half of the semester all she does is complain about how much better UGNX 3 was then UGNX 5. She can be alright if you get to know her, but if it's not to much of a hassle to transfer out. do it
Leaves everything as broad as possible just to mark you wrong. Always uses a dang mic cause she doesn't know how to speak in a lecture hall. Lacks actual field experience dealing with anything and everything with engineering. By far the worst professor I've had, and last year one of my prof. didn't know good portion of the english language.
Terrible teacher; she's quiet, boring, and overall, bad at teaching. HWs aren't bad. Exams are trick questions. She's terrible with MATlab. If your drawings/dimensioning is not exactly how she does it, she marks it wrong. She's terrible with MATlab Its her way or the highway, no getting around it.
I can't understand what she says in class even though she wears a mic. Does not explain things, and is extremely broad during lecture. As for the exams, they were extremely opinionated. What I mean is most things can be done more than one way but you get graded on if you do them her way which causes a lot of argument.
Hard to understand, does not answer questions very well and seems to waste a lot of time in class on pointless stuff
Norma is a very nice person. Even though sometimes she is hard to understand, one must remember that this is because of voice box surgery and sub- par equipment (microphone). Overall, she is a helpful and kind teacher who tries her best to make sure you understand the material as she cares dearly about her students.
Like the comment below me said, she's hard to understand because of bad equipment and voice box surgery. She does explain things if you pay attention, and she's always willing to answer questions if you approach her. She may explain things vaguely at first, but it's so you actually think and learn from it! She's a great teacher having a rough year.
ok teacher. it's good to sit in the front so you can see and ask questions. She sometimes goes over things very quickly which i don't like. She has a monotone voice so you might fall asleep. it's ok not to bad not to good.
She is hard to hear, sometimes it sounds like shes whispering. She is nice and friendly if you talk to her after class or in her office hours. I liked her much more than my 1101 teacher but the TA I had for this class was horrible and I had a hard time getting the grades I wanted on projects graded by him. She's a good professor, but quiet.
Not too much homework. Goes over example problems in class which are similar to exams. Show up and you'll do fine. Very nice and able to answer any questions during office hours.
Provides good, easy to follow processes for examples and homework. All her slides are online to follow along in class. She provides all the tools to succeed as long as you use them. More interested in learning than grades.
Bad professor! She use microphone in class, she talking like hypnotize!
Ms. V is very nice and is there to help you if you ask for it. She assigns a lot of group work and will basically force the class to participate, even if it's an early morning class. However, her grading criteria is pretty clear and as long as you show up and do the work you should be able to pull an A or AB no problem.
She was a solid professor. Definitely on the boring side, but she gives plenty of examples to prepare for the tests. The tests largely resemble the homework, and she gave extra credit to improve scores. Pretty helpful during her office hours. You could do far worse for a class like this. Don't buy the textbook, you'll never use it.
Seems to not enjoy teaching and doesn't explain the material well, more of a self study class; but does help more if you ask one on one. 1st year Spatial visualization class was terrible
LOTS of homework. Does a lot of examples in class but the exams are way harder than that, each one had a question or two that I was lost on.
Good Professor, Exams were easier than the homework. Does easier examples in class, but it is up to you to do the homework to really master the concepts
Norma is teaching a difficult topic to grasp and she does it poorly. If you ask questions in office hours she acts like you are stupid and proceeds to explain it the same way she did during lecture. Homework is due twice a week with a quiz each week.
