Alright, this guy is cool no doubt, but whats with that constant swaying and beard tugging. WHen he doesn't look at you its very distracting. One on one though this guy is awesome, though his voice puts you to sleep.

Gives very obvious hints about the material on tests and exams. Overall an excellent teacher.

I found this prof to be pretty good overall. However i didn't like when he would teach using powerpoint and fly through the slides before anyone could write them down.

One of the best instructors of my University days. During a time when I did not know what I wanted to major in, Norm pointed me in the right direction just through his classes and the passion he has for his work! Always very helpful and willing to lend a hand when needed. Great job!!

I think someone said he thinks he's god's gift to Memorial's Geography Department-- that's because he actually is. He's more of a superhuman than a prof; he returned 26 term papers the next day, with full comments. Don't pass up the opportunity to be taught by stormin' Norman.

A very good prof! He is clear on what he expects from you and doesn't bore you with continuos pages of notes...he has pictures. Although he is very odd man with some peculiar traits.

Catto is honestly the best professor at mun. he is a little crazy sometimes...but thats what makes him so good...he's a genius..really...I love his classes, he makes them very interesting! I would recommend this prof to everyone at mun!

LiSeN AlL, This prof is awesome,excentric,cool, lil crazy,fun, but more importantly, very knowledgeable,helpful,clear,concise and dedicated to his craft. Overall, very interesting classes, he wore a costume on hal/ween!!! The speed at which he is able to mark and pass back papers is truely amazing.I agree..gods gift to mun geo dept.!!!!

Catto is the man. Interesting and easy (if you do the stuff). With the map quizes and the huge assignment, its pretty easy to get a good mark. The exams are even easy. Deadly course, deadly prof.

What can you say? he's awesome. easy to listen to, and easy to talk to. He'll help you out any way he can, plus he's a genius. Tests are clear, and to the point. Take his course if you can!

Catto is a great prof, and this course will give you a basic understanding of world geography. Do well on your map quizzes and listen to what Catto has to say, will get you a good mark. Don't worry about notes, most of the stuff is in the manual.

Amazing prof, funny, easy going and very easy to talk to. Not to mention he is extremely smart and you can tell that he loves to teach. Even though he puts his slides online class is important as he will give pointers about questions midterms. Strongly recommend him, and am definitely looking forward to having him as a prof again.

Great proff. explains everything completely. tries his best to make class interesting and although class isn't mandatory, it's recommended to go because he'll slip in a few hints and examples that you wouldn't get otherwise.

It amazes me how intelligent he is. He tries to make the Physical Geography course as interesting as he possibly can, and he does not try to trick his students on the exams. Excellent prof, highly recommended.

Overalla great proffessor and a very intellegent person. I need not elaborate, because anyone who visits this page will have probably had Norm already. If not, it would be a very good idea.

Excellent Prof! He is a very nice and understanding person to speak to outside of class with questions or concerns. I definitely would take another course with him!

By far, the most interesting, knowledgable professors I ever had. The man knows everything about everything. Very easy to understand, extremely approachable, clear in what he's looking for in an answer. Anytime I had an opportunity to take a course with him, I took it, and would recommend anyone else with a physical geography interest to do so.

Catto was a good prof, and his Intro to Geography class was pretty easy. There are a lot of opportunities to get marks in his class and as long as you put in just a little study time, it's an easy A.

Best Prof Ever! I have a Geography major and I tried to do every course possible with this man. He can make you fall in love with rocks! Very approachable and the smartest man I ever met. Take his class!

Best teacher I have ever had for anything. Knowledgeable, helpful, approachable, practical, clear with what he wants from you, his tests can be challenging but if you attend his classes they are a breeze. I have taken every course with him I could possibly take. Highly recommend if you like physical geography.

Probably one of the best prof's i've had in the geography department so far. So helpful and is straight to the point on assignments and tests. Ask him anything about hazards and he's in his glee. Highly recommend

Lectures were very easy to follow, though the lectures were a bit dry. He added humour where he could. Lots of content, but he makes everything related. Would take another class with him.

Gives very interesting lectures and often gives you hints for exams if you attend class. His tests are very hard but he grades them easily. Very clear and very helpful. Would recommend.

Norm is a sweetheart. Took the first field course with him last year and even though it was only one day I would take another course with him. Very clear on what he wants and willing to clarify any issues or discuss. Explains his grading well.

Easiest course I've ever taken. I really should have failed this course based on my attendance and effort, but i swear it is literally impossible to fail. He gives you all questions for the exams and is very fair when grading. Do go to class because there are occasional in class responses. Other than that and the labs it's a breeze.

Norm is my favourite prof in my MUN career thus far. He knows his stuff super well, has great lectures and is very approachable. I really hope I get the chance to take a class with him again. He is a great grader, his TA grades the assignments though. Very accessible outside of class! He is a great prof overall

Norm is a great professor. He is highly knowledgeable, and makes his lectures appealing to us. He gives a lot of examples to really help us learn the concepts, and truly makes learning enjoyable. Although the material can sometimes be a bit boring, he tries his best to make it interesting. He is very engaging, and readily accessible. Def recommend!

Dr. Catto is a very solid choice if you are looking for a good geo prof. He is very caring and understanding towards his students. He genuinely wants you to succeed in his courses, and life in general. He's such a great person and his jokes are pretty funny. He was a breath of fresh air for a 9am lecture, it was worth going to class.

GEO 1050 with Dr. Catto was an easy A. The course wasn't as dry as I had expected. Catto was really easy to follow and makes it very easy for you to succeed in his courses. He is passionate about what he teaches.

Highly recommend taking a course with Norm Catto! He's a very fair grader! Although the course was online, he is very easy to reach! The course material is dry, but he was very good at making it exciting and goes the extra mile to explain things! My favourite video was when he interviewed a dairy farmer in NL!

Dr. Catto is an amazing prof, much like most profs in the Geography department at MUN. Made this remote learning semester easier.

Norm is hands down the best prof I've had at MUN! He genuinely wants to see his students succeed and is always willing to help. I've taken 3 courses with him and they were all excellent. He's a fair grader and his lectures are interesting! Wish I could have taken more courses with him this semester!!

Dr. Catto is a great prof. He makes great lectures and does not require any outside sources so it is very clear what he is looking for in assignments. There is a test every week and 4 assignments throughout the course which I think is a bit much for a 1000 level course but they are fairly easy.
