His class wasn't all that bad, definitely had trouble reading his writing but if you read the textbook and do the problems he suggests, you should do fine in the class

if you go to class and do the suggested problems you'll do good. if you skip class though there's a good chance you'll fail. pretty helpful and actually wants the class to do well. i'ld recommend the class.

Went to every class and did very well. After the majority of the class did extremely poorly on the midterm he went through every exam and gave marks where ever possible, and gave everyone 5 extra marks.

He doesnt take attendence but pretty much all of the midterm is demonstrated beforehand in class. So attendence is pretty crucial to passing. His writing is terrible, but if you ask him what he just wrote he'll read it outloud for everyone.

Great guy, great teacher! Shows interest in students and really wants them to succeed.

Best 1st year accounting Prof. Does a great job at going over material and preparing you for exams. Slightly hard to approach at times, but is still very helpful. He notices people who regularly attend class and participate.

overall good prof, very fair in marking, useful lectures and classes. Messy handwriting although he understands this and tries to clarify what he writes most of the time.

I think he's a pretty good teacher. I don't know why everyones saying he's non approachable, i've asked him questions before. I think most people who do bad are just typical stupid people who suck at accounting like in grade 12 lol

Best 1st year prof. Very helpful and provides a TON of examples. Go to class, copy down what he says, study, and you'll have an easy 80. I wish the other accounting profs were as clear as he is at explaining everything.

A professor that spoon feeds you notes. Check Sakai and print his notes prior to class, so that you can copy down the notes. It is really important to do so, as you only add information that he provides, and not have to copy tedious things down. Gives many examples,hard marker.

He's an average prof. midterm will be hard and final will be easier. he's very nice outside the class. he might seems like an ass in class sometime but he is fine. ask him a lot.. ask for reviews coz if nobody asks he wouldn't give.. anyway you need to work hard outside class coz its actg

Awesome prof, seriously one of the best profs I had first year. Wish the 2nd year profs were just like Chasse. Fun person to joke around with, hope to have him in the future.

Veeery helpful.Accounting is not an easy course. I don't think anyone should expect the lectures to be enough to pass the course because that is not possible.Make sure you read the chapter before you attend the lecture and every single word, the prof will say, will be crystal clear. He never says no to appointments.Execellent prof.

He is an amazing prof; type of prof every student needs, pushes you to learn. He provides a variety of notes, incredibly knowledgeable, explains very clearly and thoroughly the course concepts. Tries best to help students that work hard and explain til he thinks they get it. BUT he is a HARD prof, all exams and quizzes WILL BE VERY HARD with him

Midterm will be super hard, but if you can read the chapter before lecture you'll rock the easy final. MyAccountingLab will also bounce your marks. I got 50 in the final but 80 at last, so don't give up!

He is a good lecturer who is very knowledgeable in the courses he teaches. He's pretty funny and manages to make a boring class reasonably interesting. Course is tough but if you do all the practice questions (multiple times) it's not out of the question to do extremely well.

not a bad prof actually, although heard of a lot of friends failed in his class. if you go to class, take notes and get prepared you will pass. ACTG4P34 is not that difficult, but it takes you a lot of time to learn.

He is very fair and willing to help if you ask. 4P34 with him is not tough. Read txtbk+his weekly McGill&understand, 80+ should be no prb. Go to class & understand Prb, read slides ez60-75 Want higher, do assigned prob. He would explain if you willing to ask. he might be a bit fast however just let him know then it should be fine.

Fair prof. I did poorly on the midterm and was contemplating dropping the class, but the final was very fair and bumped my grade up to a B. Just do not fall behind in the class or you will struggle. You need to know everything in the previous chapters to understand the corresponding ones.

Had a great time in the class, ended up being my favourite of the semester. I don't recognize the prof I had in these negative comments, but I was also only one of three people that actually participated during class. I copied down his excel examples but otherwise never took notes as he uploads his slides. Easy class if you spend the needed time.

He is a nice professor. As long as you do the problems and go to his office hours if you have questions, you will do well in his midterms and final exam. They are not hard questions as long as you do the work. No shortcut.

Taking this course with him is tough though. It is really hard to get 80 and higher, you need to work really hard and memorize all the stuff. Final exam is easier than the midterm.

Make sure you READ and know what a LIST is.

First year accounting is very difficult. If you have taken accounting in grade 12, this class will be relatively easy. The professor is very strict with the students. The exams cover a wide range of topics. You have to listen carefully to the lectures. Complete the practice problems for each chapter and work hard on group assignments.

Make sure you do the homework and REMEMBER THE LIST IN THE GROUP PROJECT!

In the upper years Norman is a pretty normal guy. I took External 4 with him in the spring and did extremely well by just completing the assigned problem sets. Honestly, there were no surprises, and it was a very smooth course. He's actually a pretty good instructor.

His dry sense of humour integrated well with the course material, although the lectures can become a little repetitive. A lot of content covered on tests, so make sure to write really fast.

This class is REALLY easy if you took grade 12 accounting. He does do a lot of examples during lectures and sometimes is hard to keep up with (also has very messy handwriting). But he is still very engaging and tries his best to crack jokes and keep the class at least a little entertaining. I think the midterms and exams are very fair.

He provides lots of examples to better understand the information he's teaching. He switched up his teaching style a few times during the semester which through me off but overall was fine. There were 2 term tests plus the exam, but I found it helpful since that made the exam less packed.

Good professor. A bit of a hard ass but only because he cares. Lectures very important to attend as lots of HW not included in the slides is covered.

Good quality teacher. Lots of content and things to learn. If you fall behind, he may seem like a bit of a hard as. Intense course all the way through but ultimately I feel as though I learned a lot. A good professor that will challenge you appropriately in your learning. Would willingly take him again to know I am getting a good education

Norman Chasse is a very knowledgeable professor who can be 'hard' on his students because he cares. Attending the lecture is basically a must as he does in-class notes and examples that are not found on the Brightspace page. If you do your homework and pay attention in lecture the midterm(s)/exam shouldn't be too hard. He is engaged with the class.

I get it people think he is a bad prof because he is a tough grader I had him for ACTG 1P01 and his lectures were great and his homework questions were better made you understand the whole topic. Then i took him for ACTG 1P02 too. I recommend taking him if you actually wanna learn just go to the lectures and pay attention to what he says.

struggled in his class a bit because of my own lack of comprehension, and sometimes it was a bit hard to follow. but this guy genuinely cares about his students and is one of the funniest professors i've ever taken. does not get enough credit for his wit. straight to the point in his lectures and absolutely willing to help anyone who reaches out
