very funny pleasure to have as a teacher
Great teacher, very funny
Very funny and interactive. He involves everyone!
Very interactive class, but you will be driven insane by his loud pauses of AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... while his brain catches his thoughts. Only take if you have an interest in the subject,Grades on a curve, 90% of test taken directly from class lecture.
Tests are some of the hardest I've ever taken, but then they are curved and the scores go up. Crazy sense of humor. One more note if you don't like to participate then you should not take his classes.
This guy just blabs on and on about ECON. He doesn't explain anything at all. Just goes on and on. And the pauses that he makes AAAHHHHHHHHHHH that is the most annoying. Tests = VERY HARD.
Makes a boring subject fun. Grades are curved, tests are not hard.
Very boring. Grades on participation and you never know when you'll be chosen. Didn't get anything out of this class!
AHHHHHHHHHHH So tell me Ms.Smith...what does the chart on page 598 tell you about the production of widgets?? Well, who would like to help out Ms.Smith? AHHHHH Mr.Brown?
Great Teacher Funny, just pay attention in class you'll do fine. Easy to get along with. Just be prepared for him calling on you. Wicked Curve - Awesome Curve.
IF YOUR TAKING ANY ECON CLASS, TAKE HIM. HE MAKES U WANT TO COME TO CLASS. TEST R GRADED ON CURVES TOO! CUR IS THE BEST!
Funny, You learn alot and laugh alot!
if u don't like to participate don't take this class, he calls on everyone but doesn't care if you get it wrong. He's very funny and sarcastic. i look forward to goin to his class.
I loved Cure's class. He made economics very interesting. His test are not that hard if you study and he does grade on a curve. He is also very funny.
I hated this class and learned absolutley nothing. I wish he would just lecture instead of asking all of those stupid questions! It's the worst class I have ever taken!!!
What a joke a 60% is practically passing. Sure the Exams are tough but they are curved like 15 points. You laugh a lot, come to class prepared. Study the stuff he tells you and you should be fine. Take in the summer much easier.
AHHHHHHHHHH turn to page 75 and read what it has to say Mr.Smith, up on the top,in the lime, AAAAAAHHHHHHH No, thats too bad more of a pea guy, AAAHHH thats understandable, AAAAAHHHH those red neck conservatives.
Great teacher if you paid attetion in class you would pass. Made a boring subject fun. Wish I could take again. Recommend that you go to him when he tutors, will really take the time to talk to you great if you want to learn about investing.

I'm at walsh now, and he is still the best teacher I have had. Funny, intresting, and helpfull. Take him for every class you can! Did I mention FUNNY!!
I like going to his lectures...he's a funny guy and I actually learn a lot from him. If you don't mind being called on in class, take this prof!
Excellent
Always joked, NEVER lectured, toss-up questions were used as his primary method of teaching. Learned almost nothing but still got a B+. Would be good for a student who prefers to read at home and not attend class.
Great teacher, very funny! He makes the class very interesting. Almost everything said in class will not be on the test. It all comes from the book. The workbook will help also. He curves his tests and that really helps to improve your grade. Also gives extra credit if you need it.
Had him for both economics classes and still wondered how I passed. Well the curved tests take care of everything. Just sit back and relax and take it all in. He won't bore you to death if you like to listen and laugh.
very nice guy.has lots of money. have to read book. but interested in working with students
This professor is really cool to take. He is very hilliarious and makes economics very fun. His tests come strait out of the book. Although his AAAHHH's can get annoying he's still a cool person. He also calls everyone by their last name.
One of the best teachers that Macomb Community College has. He was capable of teaching the class with humor while still managing to get the information into you. I would certainly endorse N. Cure
Sadly, I think would of been a great late nite talk show host or stand up comedian. Takes the bus to class, I miss Him!
Good teacher and funny. Test come right from book.
His jokes suck and is boring.
He's totally cool and hilariously funny. Still, the class material is hard to follow because of his teaching style. It's an amusing class to take for audit but not for credit. I like to pass!
Prof. Cure is by far the coolest teacher I have ever had. His teaching style is hilarious. I never thought economics class could be so interesting. I looked forward to attending his class everyday. I learned a lot in his class. Eventhough, I received a C-, I still had a blast. Wassup Cure heres a shot out for ya!!!!!
He's hilarious, I'll give him that. You better read the chapters, unless you don't mind being embarassed when he calls on you and grills you infront of everyone. I feel like you should take a pre-econ 101 class before him, though. Kinda tough if you know nothing about economics.
This guy has 35+ ratings for a reason, people like him. Put in a fair effort, pay attention, and you'll be fine. He's funny, engaging, and all around cool. Take him because he is not boring or slow like the rest.. he is GREAT.
Seriously, this guy is interesting in lecture with his ahh, and calls you by the last name. He can be rough at times though, and I hate how the curve is designed. All of his exams are based on reading. Nevertheless, be prepared to answer questions otherwise he'll pick on you till everyone laughs.
Cure is AAHHH, AWESOME! He actually makes me look forward to an economics class. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard at times. Engaging, intelligent, and focused, he is sure to please with his sure fire way of teaching. if you don't pay attention though, you'll be screwed. THE BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!!
WOW!! What a teacher!!! He's so funny. I enjoyed his class because he made it laid back and easy to understand. You just have to read the reading that he assigns and pay attention in class, cause he's going to call you, not by your first name but by your last name.
This is a pretty easy class if you do the questions he gives for homework and go over the studyguide book before tests. He makes it a very interesting class. Hes always made us laugh.
Hilarious but hard
AAAHHH Awesome teacher. AAAHHH Just do the reading and pay attention in class and your set. Actually makes the class interesting and fun. AAAHHH likes to say AAAHHH between sentences. If you are going to take economics take it with him, you just cant take it with anyone else. Tests are curved. Calls you by last name. Funny guy.
Professor Cure isn't that helpful when it comes to providing information for that class or clarifying or answering questions.
Pay attention in class and you're set. Just study the possible test problems and keyword study.
great teacher, dosnt just do dry leactures like other professors. he will call on you through out the class, but its to keep you engaged, and it works well too.
Absolutly hilarious, sat front row and joked with the guy the whole time. Makes class pretty entertaining. Only problem.....he doesn't want you to take notes and doesn't really explain the tests. The tests are heavily curved, at least one full grade, one test was two full grades. Grade was saved by an A on the project, or would have been in trouble
Cure is a funny man, but his teaching methods are something to be dsired. His tests follow nothing with what the book states and he is very elusive with answering any questions. I would never want him again for a professor.
THis guy is ridiculous. He just jokes all the time. He couldnt even understand the questions on the exams and expected alot of self teaching. His curves are a joke and hes really heartless when it comes to grades. he doesnt care AT ALL if you pass. Id suggest another professor
Good teacher, Easy readings, tests are kind of hard if you havent studied the given questions of recomended readings.
Hated him... His tests are impossible, the curves are nice if someone does horribly on the test. He doesn't clarify what is on the test or in class, he's scattered... would NOT recommend.
Best professor Ive ever had. Calls on students at random, keeps you on your toes. He can be intimadating, but it works. Curve is generally a full grade or better. Good proffesor.
Funny guy, sure. Good teacher, no. Asks questions in class for which most students guess at. Jokes around too much. Tests are not very fair, multiple choice but tricky questions most of which aren't covered in class. The grade curve is nice but you don't learn anything unless you go home and read the stuff yourself.
Wow.I looked at my other options for Economics and this Pro. was the favored one.Testes are 50 questions long.I'm amazed at how hard it was.Pulled an all nighter for a test and still confusing. If you're good at guessing then take this class.Fun class but the testes are hard.Impossible to get 50/50. All depends on the curve to get an A on test.
his classes are entertaining and he's pretty funny... his sense of humor is so dry... but do NOT count on the "lectures" for the exams... they have absolutely nothing to do with what's on the tests... just study from the book... and he grades on a curve which is always a big help... our class almost always had a 15 point curve
Very entertaining teacher. He will keep your attention and will make you laugh.
We're #1.
Number one with Mr. Cure:READ THE TEXT! Each class he goes over the chapters by randomly calling on people in class. He also has video tapes in the library where he explains different curves and graphs...View them for additional assistance - they will help. If you read the books, the exams will be no problem...He is understanding if you need help.
boooooooooooo
Great class. After the class, you will be able decipher some of those finance sections in newspapers. Asks "active questions" in class for a grade. Read the text, give a little effort to understanding the concepts, and the questions will be easy.
Professor Cure, what a character. Personally, I liked the guy. To succeed in this course, attend class every meeting, take notes, do the problems he gives out before class, re-do the problems in class when the class goes over them. He calls on people at random so be ready or you will look stupid. Work hard and apply yourself and you will pass.
Anyone who says that Prof Cure is a bad professor only says that because they did not study. He is a great teacher. He makes you learn, which I'm sure these kids did not care about they just want a A. I got an A and all I did was come to class and study before exams. Great Professor! You would be lucky to get him. Multiple Choice Exams. Very funny!
For an intro ECON class, I think he needed to slow down just a bit. Several classmates were confused by his lectures, and he didn't always catch the glazed over looks. I think I would have got a lot more out of the class, if the lectures were better. You can study the book, but the lecture should reinforce and develop the idea or scenarios further.
Seriously, what is this guy on? Personally I like him. As a teacher, its more worth your time to take it online. He loves talking to people and calling on you randomly. But he talks about nonsense, like marshmallow creme and jokes A LOT. I would take this online unless you like this sort of thing. For me, not so much. POINTLESS lecture.
I never had this kind of professor before......so at first, I had to get used to him. He likes to hold random conversations with students in class. Prof. Cure is a great teacher if u like to talk a lot, but you have to study in order to pass his exams. So good luck!
I really like Cure as a person. He has a dry sense of humor that gets old during the semester. In terms of teaching he is useless. You can only read the book, study the graphs, and hope to do good on the test. He won't answer questions, he diverts the question to other students to answer. Good Guy bad professor!!!
Professor Cure is an interesting man. The first time you sit in his class you will probably hate him, but as time goes on most people liked him because he was awesome even though he couldn't teach. You will never fall asleep in class but you will not learn much either. It's hard to take him seriously. Beware - he won't bring donuts on the last day!
Prof Cure keeps the class very interesting. He curves all tests and make sure you come to class prepared he will randomly call on you the moment he thinks you aren't paying attention. Other then that study the book and do your best because with Econ no matter how much you study is confusing as heck. At least Mr. Cure loves what he does.
A few words Good luck! He goes off to random talk about many things. Study the book and the graphs because he doesn't explain them clear enough.
Professor Cure is pretty good. He uses his dry sense of humor to teach. He randomly calls out students, so pay attention!
Boring! Lowest grade ever received in college. Professor confusing could only lecture one way--he should retire. You will do good in class if think like that professor. Only bonus is he offered extra credit. Would avoid this professor again.
He is without a doubt the worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't teach the class whatsoever, and he diverts all asked questions to other students to answer. You never really do get a straight answer. It's confusing and he is useless. DO NOT TAKE!!
He is amusing and random, so you'll have to be sharp. Everyone on here that complained he is too hard should stuff surfing facebook on their wireless laptops in the back of the room! I got an A in this class, just takes some hard work, what did you think college would be like?? I liked him I would take his other ECON class if I needed it.
This was a fun and educational class.Professor Cure is the best.
I've been going to MCC on and off for several years and he is the worst prof I've ever had. Will make remarks to embarass students,is always late and never stays on topic. He is very hard to follow because he is too busy making dumb jokes instead of teaching. Needs to retire puts little effort in making sure the class understands his lectures.
If you are shy or uncomfortable public speaking, don't take this class. Part of your grade is him asking only you questions for 30 minutes. He fires them off very quickly, and it can get easily confusing, especially when you're nervous. Tests are hard and if you bomb your oral quiz, you have retry up to 5 times to make up for 1.
Far too enamored with the socratic method. Lectures are pretty much just him asking questions and waiting for people to answer with very limited prompting from Cure.
A great teacher with a good sense of humor. At first I thought he was a bit odd but over time I have really enjoyed his class. Make sure you study your crayola colors!!!
Cure makes learning fun! Cure is on top of things for being a crazy ole koot. His class is relevant and current. Dresses the part and needs a haircut.
Very easy class, basically got 100%.His lectures are not really lectures, instead he goes around the class and asks questions.Tests are far from easy, but there is a massive curve.Took 3 tests, curves were 15,16,and 21.Extra credit opportunities.Class is far from boring, but some will not like his style.
He is a unique teacher. His class was very entertaining, I found myself laughing at his teaching method and how he nonchalantly makes fun of students who are obviously not paying any attention in class. He knows his stuff but lets people get away with anything in his class, so at times it was hard to pay attention due to all the interruptions.
He is by far one of the worst teachers. Would go off on random tangents about himself and things that did not pertain to the learning material. You are called on atleast 2-3 times throughout the class to answer questions. He will call on you at random. Would not recommend taking him!
Cure is a good teacher for Economics. He makes a miserable subject bearable. Ultimately a difficult subject. The burden is on the student to pass. Must read and study alot for this course. Buy the study guide for extra help.
A different way of teaching.
His style of teaching can be a little unnerving, it's very fast paced and it occasionally gets derailed by in conversation but lessons are informative and you actually remember the material after leaving the class. My advice is to talk to him after class about his business, he's very animated about economics to say the least.
Professor Cure is hysterical. I spent the whole clas laughing. If you can't pass his class you were just trying to skate and deserve what you got.
I have absolutely no idea how these other people can truthfully say that Prof.Cure actually teaches anything. He just tells jokes and bombards students with questions the entire class. His exams are no where near of what he says in class. This is a self taught class. Prof. Cure does not teach he just interrogates students with questions. Avoid Him!
Very hard professor! very sarcastic and makes lectures extremely hard to follow! wants to embarrass you any way possible.
This was my 2nd class with Cure. He does a decent job with 1160, but was awful for 1170. He doesn't know what a lecture is. Instead relying completely on the book and students to teach the class. Did a ridiculous project that taught little. I would try a different professor if you want to actually learn Microeconomics.
This class was very entertaining for an economics class. As others have said previously, yes his lectures do stray from the book a lot and are hard to follow and usually he ends up on the topic of food for some reason. The tests are moderately hard but he does curve. If you actually read the text book, the tests will be easier.
nice teacher. you will have fun in his class even if u don't care about economics. just read the book for his tests and u will be good
This class was harder than his 1160 class, but it is still entertaining. As long a you read the chapters assigned from the textbook, you'll do fine. He curves his tests, and for this class you have to do a debate which is an easy A.
an awful teacher. does not help with anything! recommend you to not take him!
Makes lame jokes
His lectures (if that's what you call them) are humorous and keep your attention. If you read the chapters you will do fine. Great professor, great subject matter, great class. I would take him again.
His lectures are funny but he doesn't stay on topic. He randomly calls on you a lot, and if you don't know the answer he may make fun. do not take if you have social anxiety. You don't have to attend his lectures, but they are funny. His tests are all from the book, just read and reread. He curves tests a lot. Easy if you try.
He teaches by asking questions. There is basically no lecture, and the method of teaching is extremely irritating. The tests are extremely hard, and come from the book, but there is no study guide. He rambles off 10 or so pages to read, and stuff on the tests are not always on those pages. On a positive note, he easily gives make up tests.
recommend you to not take him!he is an awful teacher. does not help with anything!
he ask questions all the time so you need to pay attention all the time, his test is kinda hard.
I was very skeptical the first couple of weeks. His lectures are him reading from the book and he calls on you to finish his sentences. His method of teaching is different but I loved it. Without that I would have failed. His tests are hard but if you show up to class and pay attention you will be fine.
Fantastic Professor, knows how to teach!
One of the funniest teachers I have had. Class consists of him going over the 4 problems he assigned in the readings. He will call on everyone, so you have to pay attention. Can be hard to follow at times, but class was always interesting. I would take another class with him.
He is really nice and funny but he didn't really teach us. He just went over the book and picked on random kids and nothing he talked about was on the test. I liked him as a person but not as a teacher.
Listen to me. Ignore everyone else. He is the best professor in the entire world. He's just the worst teacher.
He is very considerate. If he asks you a yes or no question and your wrong he will at least give you 2nd chance to answer correctly. AAAHHH, Mr. Smith, who prefers less government, republicans or democrats? (Democrats!) AAAHHHH, one left. (Republicans) good job Mr. Smith. I must say I didnt think you had it in you the 2nd time! This guy is awesome
He is terrible at teaching the lesson. I have learned more from the study book than I ever will from him. he does have his moments in which you occasionally learn something or he says something funny.
Absolutely terrible professor. His humor makes the class go by quick, and I liked the active learning principles. However, had no clue how to teach economics, no test review, questions on test never lectured about. Tests SINK your grade heavily. Gives minimal extra credit. I am taking ANTH-1000 instead of ECON-1070. Absolute train wreck individual.
Professor Cure is hilarious. His humor is what makes learning about econ bearable. The class is not an easy one so you will have to work hard at it but Professor Cure does help you if you ask him. I would definitely recommend to everyone except the slackers.
I loved going to his class. His tests can be hard but if you read the book a little and pay attention in class, you will get an A. I wish he taught more classes then econ 1170 and 1160.
Very enthusiastic about Economics and the politics surrounding it. However, sometimes he focusses too much on the politics and random scenarios that he creates that have nothing to do about what we are actually learning. Basically failed his exams due to lack of understanding.
Reads a lot out of the book, and does not handle class time in a beneficial way
He is a horrible teacher. He just sit in his chair and talk. Everybody in the class feel lost. He never explain anything or give us notes to take. He does not know how to teach a lesson. People if you are reading this DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. YOU WILL NOT LEARN ANYTHING.
The concepts in this course are probably simple enough to be self-taught, however it can become very dry. Cure takes the right approach by entertaining in his lectures to make people more interested in attending class and to not get bored with the material. Enjoy his random tangents and READ THE BOOK; The tests are easy enough if you do so.
Everyone who says he's an awful teacher either didn't do the homework, or didn't go to class. This guy is awesome. One of the few classes I look forward to. Sure, sometimes he can go off on a random tangent, but if you ask for help you will get it. Tests are easy if you read, which based on a lot of these reviews, people didn't.
This guy likes to CONFUSE his students a lot and that is his ONLY goal. He has a weird fascination with colors and makes his students pick the color of chalks for him to write on the board. ANNOYING! He calls out on students abruptly and he deducts points if you cannot answer correctly. It's only been two weeks into his class and I am regretting!
Avoid taking his class for the sanity of your minds.
Approachable. Friendly. Knows his subject. This course could have been more conceptual for a true understanding of economics.
He is the best professor ever! He makes this boring class so much fun, and interesting. You've to study for the class and exam. But with the curve, it's not hard to pass with good grades. I would definitely take him again. Class participation is mandatory, but you get two passes a semester If you don't want to participate.
Pros: Mr. Cure is nice, funny, and entertaining. He grades on a curve which makes it impossible to fail. No homework, or major assignments. Just show up, answer questions, and take the exams. Cons: HE DOESN"T TEACH! Doesn't lecture. Doesn't explain concepts. Just calls on people randomly and asks questions. He goes off on tangents. Very confusing!
CURE WAS A LITTLE HARD TO UNDERSTAND AT FIRST. I AGREE TO HALF OF WHAT THE UPSET STUDENTS HAVE SAID. HOWEVER, CURE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR HE INCLUDES HIS STUDENTS AS HE EXPLAINS AN IF YOU PAY ATTENTION YOU WILL PICK UP WHAT HES SAYING BUT, IF YOUR IN LALA LAND YOU WILL FOREVER BE LOST. READ BEFORE CLASS THE CHAPTERS AN USE YOUR BOOKS INDEX IT HELPS.
Cure is an interesting professor. Class was always enjoyable. If you don't plan on doing some studying on your own time then don't take this class.
This guy is awesome. Most people who fail him aren't use to his teaching style. This guy is really funny and easy! Just ask questions after class and he will give you an answer and go to his office hours thats how I learned and got an A.
Professor Cure is absolutely awesome. He is so funny and if you take notes and ask questions then you will get a good grade. Exceptional teacher, hope to take him for Econ 1170 in the summer!
If you try in this class you will not fail. Mr. Cure can be entertaining, yes, but he is not a great teacher. You will leave the class with little more knowledge than you had when you first attended. I felt I was wasting my time whenever I took my seat in his classroom.
to pass this class you have to study more on your own because he doesn't really give you a full explanation on the chapter.
Although a great and funny person, an awful teacher. Asks random questions and has a very different teaching style. This professor does not hand out a lot of extra credit and only grades based off of tests. The curve will hurt you since it is usually not very high. I regret taking this teacher and do not recommend anyone taking him. Study hard.
The tests were ridiculous. He would put stuff on them that we hadn't even gone over. He had to curve the grades because no one would pass the tests. When talking about the material, he would go off speaking about something else and only go over ONE question the entire class.
Do not take this class Long boring lectures, never clarifies anything, some test questions are tricky and get more confusing when you ask him to explain it Tests are curved tho but if it wasnt, no one would pass the class Memorize the book, classlectures are pointless and confusing Horrible teaching method
Professor cure was the worst teacher I've ever had. Very snappy when I asked for help and didn't consider my participation as counting for my grade. Very hard to pass without a book and if you don't show up you will have no clue what he's talking about. Gets off topic very easily, and tests are always graded with a curve. The only way I passed.
Cure knows his stuff. Read the syllabus: Participation is 20% of your grade and averaged with a group presentation. The remaining 80% is divided among four exams. He jumps around quite a bit (it's part of a method called "active learning" that he uses) but it kept me engaged throughout the three hour lecture. Macomb needs more people like him.
This was the most confusing experience of my academic career.
He's quirky, but after a few classes, I found him to be very funny. He expects participation, and randomly calls on folks to answer questions. Reading the chapter before class is important. He grades fair.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Had to withdraw from this class. His lectures are so long and confusing. He calls on students randomly throughout the WHOLE class. You miss one day and you will be completely lost. His tests are so hard almost the whole class failed the 1st test. Please don't make the same mistake I did!
SUPER funny guy until he started making suicide jokes--which ultimately led to me dropping. His teaching style is uninspired; he sat in a chair and had students point out bold words/headlines from the textbook without actually teaching concepts. Spent a lot of time looking at stocks on Big Charts instead of going over material. Would not recommend.
Took him for Econ 1160 even after everyone told me not to take his class. Biggest regret. Barely teaches, cares more about making jokes. Worst professor I've ever taken.
Professor Cure has a different teaching concept. HE randomly calls on students to gain participation points, but majority of his letures are confusing and off the wall a and Majority of the class doesn't follow what he his talking about. His lectures are not from the book but the test are. Study the book and chapters on your own!
This teacher is hilarious but very confusing. I believe after teacher for so long, he doesn't even care if it make sense to students. I had such a hard time comprehending the material because of how confused he made me, so I just dropped the class. Only a few students out of 20+ passed on the first two test , within 6 weeks of the 50% dropped
prepare to be ready to read a lot to try and pass
Man I hated it he makes the students teach the class basically it's hard to keep up and he like randomly calls on you, then makes little sly jokes if your wrong and annoying.
For your sake, don't take his class. You sit there and wonder to yourself what's happening. He's always off track and you never know what he's talking about. He randomly calls on people through out and if you're lost, you're done. He also expects you to to be able to do problems on the board that you've never learned. It's frustrating and a waste.
He's not the greatest teacher but if you read the book and study on your own time you will be fine. taking notes doesn't help because his lectures are EVERYWHERE!!!!! i passed with a B- even though i got mostly Ds on the exams. Participation does matter, even if you don't know just guess or simply say you don't know.
A lot of people misunderstand Cure, he is very intelligent and has been teaching this class a long time. You must read and study the material before he goes over it in class otherwise he doesn't make sense for the simple reason you aren't prepared. Awesome guy, funny lectures, grades tests with a big curve. I've taken him a few times.
Cure is an awesome professor. He is one of the few who actually cares about his students success. He grades on a curve which is a big help. Studying before hand does help also, and if necessary utilize the videos in ths library.
I really enjoyed Professor Cures ECON 1160 class. He was hilarious at times. He grades on a curve and he is really fair. Read the book and the handouts. Study the charts and graphs that are in the book, they will be on the test. He has great office hours in the library and is always willing to answer any questions.
Please dont take a class with this guy. Every class is pretty much the same thing of you thinking "what the hell is going on?!?". You lose points for talking in class which was never told to students. If you dont participate you lose points and its very hard to, TRUST ME. Tests never had more than 2 students get an A. Most random method of teaching
very rude, doesn't explain, not a very good teacher.
Cure is a good teacher, he may be a little unorthodox but he will do his best to get everyone involved and engaged. If you pay attention and do the light homework, his classes are not only easy credits but you will actually learn too.
doesn't really remember names, calls on you based upon where you sit in the classroom. not really helpful or clear when explaining things or lecturing. very easily distracted.
Pay attention and you will learn something. I looked forward to getting to Professor Cures classroom. He was very funny and knew his stuff. If you give the man a chance to teach you something you will learn and have a good time doing it. Participate and do the required reading and you will have a great experience.
I never learned anything in his econ class. He was funny but i'm not there to laugh and mess up my GPA. You're expected to read all the chapters and he doesn't even explain them even when you ask questions.
He has a good personality and is really funny, and you actually enjoy being in class. But thats the only good thing i can say about him. Hes all over the place in his lectures and you dont learn anything from them. And his test are ridiculously hard and the only reason half the class passed was because of the tests curves.
I took his class, and while somethings took a moment to click, he explained them well and the class as a whole enjoyed the experience. I've already decided to start a Roth IRA at 22 because of Prof. Cure.
This class as a whole was confusing. Even when I was paying attention to him explaining the chapter we on, I'm still confuse. Best just read the whole chapter. He calls on you by last names, raising hand is rare. His tests are 50 questions and you have to read the chapter to know. Don't tell you your grades or where your at in his class.
Professor Cure is a rare gem. He has a very wry sense of humor and you can't help but laugh. Economics, in itself, is a tough subject, however he makes it interesting to follow along. It is true that he uses a grading curve, because he knows this subject is difficult. He doesn't play favorites, but he will help you, and gives you every way to pass
I took both Econ classes with Prof Cure. Loved his teaching style! This class would've been so boring without him! The material is not easy but if you read before class you can follow him. He will help you during library hours if you don't understand something. Watch the videos and know the answers to weekly questions for tests. Understand graphs!
the lectures aren't really helpful but he tries to make them funny. you will need to do a lot of reading at home unless you can understand what he talks about and pay a lot of attention in the class.
One of the worst classes I have ever taken. There were only 3 test in the class, and no other work assigned. So, if you mess up on the exam then you are screwed. He is a really nice guy but his class is a joke. Pick any different teacher if you actually want to learn and/or pass the class.
Cure is hilarious and I love him as a person but he is not the best at explaining economics. When there is a test, he isn't very clear in what's going to be on it. He talks for most of the class but gets off topic a lot. He is very understanding about missing tests though!
This guy is the worst Econ teacher you will ever get don't bother with him. All he does is say stupid jokes that are not even understandable. Nobody knows whats on the tests and the only way people got good grades in the class was by cheating.
The most confusing & worst professor I have had. Only graded on tests, no assignments. His lectures are just him making jokes about random things & never related to Econ so you either failed his tests or cheated. Calls on class at random everyday & learn nothing about Econ. Literally find any one besides him. If you do, good luck passing.
Nice guy, horrible Economics professor. His lectures consist of him telling jokes the entire time and rarely talking about Economics; and when he does, he NEVER explains the concepts. Sits at his desk the whole time and calls on students at random. Take literally any teacher besides him unless you want to be utterly confused and fail.
Cure is awesome. Real laid-back, always willing to accommodate your needs for help. 4 tests are pretty much your grade. Multiple choice, heavy on tables and graph questions. Talking in class is mandatory but enjoyable. Def need book. Get use to his color scheme ( white is vanilla; ebony, blueberry) lol. Would take again.
Professor Cure is the funniest professor/teacher I've ever had in my life. He has a very fun personality, and is always helping the class to loosen up and laugh a bit. He brings in discussions about real-life topics, such as politics. However, his class periods may be a little confusing, considering he infuses humor into his lectures.
You spend the whole class period reading out of the book as a class... and he wastes a lot of time talking about off-topic things which can get very confusing. Will require a lot of reading at home unless you can understand what he is saying half of the time to the class. He does grade on a curve which helped a lot. Had 3 tests and one project.
Out of all the classes I've ever had, this instructor has to be the most confusing. He would call on someone during his lecture with a question, and people would have no clue what he's asking. I do well in all my classes and pay attention, but this was horrible. I passed Econ 1160 with an "A". I recommend you try to find anyone but this guy.
Professor Cure is not a good professor. He sits at the front of the class and calls on people randomly and asks questions that don't have anything to do with what you're talking about. He makes you feel stupid if you don't understand the question. I will never take his class again.
There are no PowerPoint lectures or direct explanations of concepts. He just goes through the book and randomly calls on students to find an answer in the book. He spends more time making jokes and focuses too deeply on graphs.
This class will be a hit or miss. If you are a quiet person or cant laugh at yourself, this wont be the class for you. He will call on you multiple times per class, sometimes not having to do with the lesson at all. You WILL get an answer wrong or not know what is going on, but that is what makes you learn and pay attention more.
I'm not sure about economics, but if you're going into the nursing program then this class is for you. It will prepare you to sit there for two hours watching an old man sit at his desk acting (maybe not) like he's suffering from a severe case of dementia, while rambling on incoherently about nothing (foreign to us, but apparently its funny to him)
Don't listen to these bad reviews. If you are looking to learn about economics, take this class. If you are looking to just complete it for credit, find another teacher. He will make you learn by calling on random students during the class. It is a somewhat tough class, but you will learn almost everything in the book within the class.
Cure's personality is a strong one. He has a rather dry sense of humor and tends to make references and comments that pertain to things not learned in class and is sometimes hard to follow. he calls on students at random, and puts you on the spot at times. if you are unprepared for class and did not review the material, you may not do well.
Very independent class,Not sure about the other classes he teaches but for Econ 1160 there are only 3 tests. Participation is weighted the same as the tests for a grand total of 4 things making up your entire grade. The syllabus tells you which chapters from the book each test will cover. As long as you take notes on the 3-4 chapters, youll be fine
Cure empowers the individual student to excel in his class. He will not give you your grade; you will earn it! Do not take class discussions literally. Although his humor is different for individuals not exposed to a multitude of personalities in the real world, I found it quite interesting and looked forward to his class and discussions.
Professor Cure is the best professor. His tests are not hard. I recommend taking him.
He doesn't really teach. He doesn't explain the concepts. He just calls on everyone at random and makes jokes. He focuses too much on graphs and doesn't explain them. You don't really have any idea of what you are supposed to know for the tests. Do not take him.
He doesn't really teach so much as call on on two or three different students each class and drill them with random confusing questions. Almost no one knows what's going on and our entire grade is based off of 4 tests. Also, he is very conservative and makes insensitive and inappropriate jokes about anyone who has different opinions than him.
Cure is not a horrible professor but the discussions in class are off topic and he does not prepare you for what will be on the 4 tests that will determine your grade. He can be funny and easy going but really no learning taking place.
Enjoyable class. Hilarious lectures. Read the chapters before class
He basically reads off of the book. I can just buy a book and read it but i need him to actually teach it. He's always joking around and very sarcastic to the point where you dont know if he's teaching or joking around. I DO NOT recommend him. This is a self taught class.
You can take the exam whenever you want in his class. During test day, if you are not ready then he you can take it on library. His grading is not so clear. So, try to understand how he grades. Lectures are not so engaging. Lectures are kind of boring. You will learn a lot by listening to his lectures. So, you have to read book by yourself.
I had him for an online class, the class is extremely confusing and not organized in a way that makes any sense, he does not give a lot of instruction and he has tests on campus- which is not convenient for an online student. He also does not respond to emails or messages.
Tends to get off-topic but is very friendly, but not always so helpful. Sitting through one of his lectures is a wild ride because he asks very strange and specific questions and jumps all over the place. Uses the text book on the daily.
I'm going to be fair, he is a kind person. However, his teaching capabilities are not worth the lint in your pocket. Rather than covering terms and subjects, he prefers to solo one person out into 10-15min questionnaires. The learning is all on you, no review, no "write this down," no index cards, just you and your memory. Avoid this class.
His lectures had nothing to do with economics. He is such a funny man, just a bad professor. Does not really specify what is on the exams. He gives lots of extra credit, which helped my grade a lot. On the last exam, I got the 3rd highest grade, which was a 74%
worst professor I've ever had. Talks about the most random things and makes no sense whatsoever. You could show up everyday and still have no idea whats going on. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Worst teacher i have ever had since 1st grade honestly, his lectures have nothing to do with the tests or the econ world 98% of the time, gets out of topic ever other sentence. Class started with about 23 students and in like 4 weeks only about 9 were left, this tells you something!
Cure is very difficult to follow, and I understand why people don't like him. However, if you read the assigned readings that he gives, his lectures make a whole lot of sense. And when he calls on you, it can be a really good interactive reinforcement of the material. But if you don't read the assigned readings you're going to be entirely lost.
Teacher is unclear in his lectures. He will give you the answer, and follow it up with other answers and expect you to know its a joke. His goal is to put you on the spot and humiliate you. When asked why he doesnt want to teach, he said,I need to ensure my paycheck; we offer it again. curves every test because the average grades are about 45%.
I normally try not to be critical of others but his teachings are the worst I have ever witnessed. As opposed to teaching the class he uses tactics which make everyone uncomfortable and guessing at what he is talking about. The focus becomes more on his awkward conversations as opposed to the material. Terrible at preparing students for tests.
This professor makes you actually earn points and he actually talks the whole hour you are there. You have to read from the book as homework and next time you go into class expect to answer when he picks on you. He does no activities and no work so you have to pay attention to him.
Cure is not a very good professor. I took him in the winter of 2018 and it was a horrible decision. No note taking, powerpoints, study guides or homework. Just you, the pointless lectures and reading the book constantly. His lectures are just calling on students to answer dumb questions that were not Econ related. No learning whatsoever. Avoid him
This is to all people in the future deciding to sign up for an Econ1160 or beyond course with Professor Norman Cure. From the start it was fairly easy finding things and putting 1 and 1. After the past weeks I have struggled horridly due to half baked material. Finding my book was the hardest since he barely gave us a description. Don't do online
He never really helped me whenever I emailed him (almost every week). He stopped posting specific chapters for what we had to read after the second week. When it came to grading, he commented when he graded and he told me I elaborated and explained too much compared to what he was looking for. I would not recommend him at least for an online class.
Literally, the worst teacher. Instructions for required assignments are vague. There are problems to solve without chapters or pages. His grading is terrible and will knock off points for the smallest things. Consistency is non-existent with his grading or the entire class. He never responds to emails in a timely manner.
He is a hard grader. He gives hard exams. Avoid taking him.
The teacher was really bad at actually teaching the class. He posted the chapters needing to be read for only one week. The rest of the weeks he was expecting us to know what chapters need to be read. His course is all over the place and is not structured well at all. Do not make the mistake I made and do not take ECON with this teacher!
This guy shouldn't be allowed to teach. His lectures are nothing on topic and would rather talk about Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton's dogs than teach you anything useful. DO NOT TAKE. He posts nothing online so good luck knowing your grade. No other grades than tests that are nothing like he taught. Get ready to teach yourself with youtube vid
Cure is a knowledgeable professor. You can tell he is passionate about what he does. Read before class and his lectures will make sense, if you don't you will be lost. Your class grade is basically just the tests, but there is always a curve.
He cant teach that good, you will have to read the material and comprehend it yourself, tests are pretty difficult. Only reason i got a A is well lets just say i found a way..... He does curve test grades.
Very nice, funny guy. Just coming to class will not prepare you for exams. To get an A, I went on youtube, watched the chapters from a channel called "Maria Papapavlou" (took notes). Tests were much easier that way. Need physical book, NOT online. Curves big on tests. Attendance doesn't really matter if you watch the videos, just know exam dates.
Professor cure, is old school and sits at his desk making the students read from the book while in class. Class is boring, and he makes it even worse by making jokes that are not funny that actually makes you feel uncomfortable. Class is based only on a couple of test, but he does give some curves. I would not take this class with Cure.
Class is based off 4 tests and a final. everyone failed almost every exam and the average was around 45%. He does curve them, but its not enough. He sits in his chair and picks on a student of his choosing and talks to them for like 15 mins. No homework or quizzes, it's just read the textbook and come to class. Don't take his class!!.
This class is graded by your test sores. He gives out time consuming homework, but it does not count for a grade. The only reason you would need to show up to this class is to find out when the next test is. In his class he calls on random people and ask questions that have nothing to do with the subject and you leave more confused. Read the book!!
In the world today he is not tech savvy and does not grade papers on time. He can not pull attachments and used incorrect text that the book store offered. Would not recommend.
Norman Cure is the worst professor I have ever taken. I have taken more online classes than In class and he is the worst. Homework is worth 4 points and takes at least 3 hours of your time. Oh, and your grade will probably be a 2 after you try your hardest. I try really hard to succeed in my classes and it doesn't seem possible to get an A.
He will mark you down on homework assignments for things that weren't even asked about in the question. This has happened on several occasions, and I have had to contact him about it multiple times. To his credit, he did fix the grades once I presented my case, but he was pretty difficult to contact.
He really Love what he is doing :)
Never checks his email. Due dates were changed and I received zeros for assignments before they were even due. Wasn't able to submit assignments on time because the assignment was "closed". NEVER CHECKS HIS EMAIL
Never checks his email. The homework takes way too long for how little it is worth. He always seems to be wanting something more in the assignments. His comments on what you did wrong are completely useless.
He is the hardest grader I have ever seen in my life. Be prepared for 5 plus hours of work on Fridays. The answers can be found no where as he makes up the question. All his grading is opinion based. I am a 4.0 student and never got a perfect score on anything. It was a fight for my grade. Skip this class at all cost!!!!!
Really tough grader and will sometimes dock points with no explanations or single word explanations. Work is way too much and too difficult for the points they are worth. He always wants something more out of your assignments but doesn't clarify what.
It is almost impossible to get an A in this course because the feedback on your homework makes no sense. The organization and explanation of weekly work is usually wrong (page numbers/chapters) so you end up reading the wrong portions of the text. He is very unhelpful through email. Take this course with any other prof and save yourself the trouble
The worst professor I have ever had. His comments on what you did wrong make absolutely no sense. I am a straight-A student and got a B in this course. He grades everything so harshly and made mistakes in my grading by typing in the wrong numbers. Please please please take a different professor if you can. Absolutely the worst class ever.
Its really hard to pass this class. tough grader is an understatement, he refuses room for correction on assignments that are important to pass tests and He doesn't give the correct answer to the questions you get wrong. He doesn't give information on which chapters to read, and the syllabus lacks information. He does not answer questions. avoid!!
literally I tell everyone that will listen DO NOT take any classes with this professor. He does zero for teaching, lecturing notes, giving feedback. All of his assignments were increadibly long and difficult with zero lecture notes. He would assign things from the book and have them be long drawn out questions with multiple a/b/c parts for 2 point.
I almost never write reviews, but this professor was so awful that I thought it was necessary. I had professor cure for econ1160 and 1170. One weekly assignment worth 4 points and it is impossible to get a 4/4. He gives absolutely no feedback and could care less if you do good in his class or not. Absolutely horrible professor.
All I have to say is my gf took this man and all she did was complain about him and made my life difficult because of how much she complained about him. It was very irritating. I say dont take him lol.
No instruction, bad grader
Avoid him!! The worst professor I have ever had. Had him online and he does not teach a single thing. He picks questions from the book and that is all your assignments are, along with 4 quizzes. The way he grades seems like he just picks and chooses and makes things up. If you miss one word he will take a significant amount off. It makes no sense.
Avoid!!! Very unclear about instructions and very particular about homework. Although he is available outside of class to discuss grades and homework don't expect to get anywhere with him. He needs to work on clarifying exactly what he is expecting. You can provide the correct information but can still get downgraded for his lack of understanding.
Wish I could give a 0.makes offensive jokes in front of the whole class saying sth along the lines (been a couple of yrs),are you a terrorist, should we wear life-jackets and I just laughed away?Realized after a few wks, I should've complained to the admin. Also he doesn't know how to teach.Almost failed me but I think I wasn't able to use the CR
don't take this guy. doesn't teach the class at all. no lectures, you basically teach yourself using the book while doing the homework. I thought I did well on the exams but would end up getting B's. I am usually an A student. seriously just take someone else especially if you want to do online.
The instructions for each assignment were very vague and unclear and he grades incredibly harshly. The feedback for each assignment is extremely poor; all you get is the question number, two words, and a question mark. Norman Cure should be fired. I understand I am a random person on the internet, but please listen to me and take somebody else.
Cure was horrible. Never explained anything good, you could barely figure out if he was trying to make a joke or insulting you when hes supposed to just teach.
He taught really bad. Everyone agreed that they couldn't understand his teaching. You would be better off learning it yourself, but I liked his personality. He talked all lecture and made it not boring. The material is not hard at all but again, nobody understood his teaching style. And everone did bad on the tests but there were good curves.
You receive 3 assignments a week and 4 tests for the semester. Class was horrible because his vague responses, improper sentence structure for assignments, and an inconvenience for points. Assignments can go off on a tangent where a question will have multiple questions. Be prepared to be graded with (Decimal points) out of 1 & 2 point assignments.
This professor asks for a lot of time to be put into homework but only gives out 1 or 2 points for all the work done. Exams are lengthy and only worth a minimal amount of points. Very few lectures, mostly read and figure it out yourself.
Assigns intense homework (lengthy + difficult) and is very strict with his grading. This wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if he was clearer with what he expected from you. If you have the option to take someone else, DO THAT!!!
Expects a lot out of homework and gives almost no points during the course. Questions are often straight out of the book or poorly worded. Lazy teaching methods. You will be teaching yourself.
Prof Cure is very difficult to follow. Textbook is required, 4 questions assigned at the end of every class. You usually aren't graded on the questions. You don't really learn anything -- he never gave a lecture, just called on us at random and expected us to know the answers based on the textbook without ever explaining the concepts in the book.
Weekly homework was pretty tough, extensive, and sometimes hard to understand. However, if you read the book and actually want to learn economics you should be fine.
Calls students at random to answer his vague questions and grades us 1-5 for it. Doesn't teach and just expects us to know. Dry terrible humor that does nothing for us. No one ever got more than 38/50 for the four exams, there are curves though. 4 questions to do as hw after each lesson that we "go over" in class. Talks too quick to understand.
Tough grader and wasn't very clear in the way he explained things. Harsh on homework with little to no points given back.
This professor is really bad. He blatantly makes fun of the students. He is extremely loud and rude. He gives little to no explanation about the test and homeworld. The only grade you will have is the test, which is extremely hard. For a teacher as old as him, I'm extremely unimpressed with his teaching methods. DO NOT TAKE.
Very confusing. Just teach yourself
Too much for an online class, seems like he wants to make it difficult
Tough grader, feedback on assignments can be confusing at times. 3 assignments per week, 1 test every 2 weeks. Some assignments are confusing to understand. Tests require you to use outside sources to find answers; however, some of these sources don't even exist. Decent teacher 7/10. Easily to contact through email.
the reviews are quite harsh but understandable, took his in-person lecture with only a few others and you WILL be participating EVERY DAY. At first, I thought he was crazy but you'll grow to love him (if you are sensitive, do not take this class). Four questions to study after each class, answers are in the textbook and answered next class, 5 exams
The professor has high expectations, but his teaching style can be vague and unhelpful. The course is tough, with lots of homework and tough grading. Unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for preparing for exams.
One of my least favorite professors I've had at MCC. I'm usually a solid A student and really struggled with this course. No opportunities for extra credit. I felt like some concepts should have been taught with more than just a textbook reading.
Cure was very difficult and the only things you get credit for are exams which are very difficult and the lecture was not helpful. You need to read the book.
I felt like some type of online lecture would have been great, but there was none! We were just given the book to read and took canvas tests! On top of that, we had a weird group project based on a book that we had to find on our own! This class could have been such a good one but it was poorly organized from the get-go!
He thinks he's funny but he's not.I had a very hard time learning in his class as he would just talk about things that were not even relevant.Only had 4 tests and before the last test we had to "learn" everything in one day because we were behind. (because of him).100% do not recommend him as I and many others struggled. (brought politics in a lot)
Prof. N was a nice guy and understanding. However, I didn't really learn anything from this class. We only were graded on tests and pretty much our whole class failed because his lectures were extremely hard to understand. He is a little older, so his dialect can be challenging (most of the time) but he's nice overall.
I wish I would have read these reviews before choosing his class for economics. Course is exam heavy. 1 hour for 50 questions and its only worth 15 points. Each week we have 3 different assignments worth 5 points total. The points on assignments are hard to get. 4.0 student and this class may just cause me to lose that no matter how hard I try.
As many other students have said, the grading in this class is TERRIBLE. There are only 4 quizzes which come out to be SIXTY PERCENT of your grade. The assignments are only 40%. Do not take this professor!!!
Professor does not know how to use online messaging, very difficult to communicate with, questions on quizzes and tests are not clear and do not follow the reading. Do not waste your time or money if you think this will be an easy class. Many classmates have reached out in group chats questioning whether or not they should drop the class
Loud, irritative, and awful. Does not make attempts to help students at all, just spends most of the class lecturing about random stuff like the sky or the recent Red Wings game... Made extremely offensive remarks to me and my friend due to our attire and backgrounds. DO NOT TAKE! You're significantly better off taking this class online.
had him 2 times. His assignments are heavily based on the book. His tests are fairly easy but long. All multiple choice but about 50 questions. I'd say about half your grade is assignments and the other half is tests. he is very harsh when it comes to grading! I would say take him only if he's the last available, but it's not too bad if you have him
This class is graded out of 100 points. Teacher will grade things like .98/1. Teacher is nonexistent, reads emails and not respond. Quizzes due ranges will be inconsistent (sometimes due on Saturday, Friday, or Sunday). Too serious and restrictive for an intro to economics course. No slander, jtlyk this teacher is why I have an account here.
Probably the worst professor I've had. His grading is absolutely horrendous and makes no sense at all. The tests are very important to your grade so make sure you take them! Slow grader, awful communicator, no empathy whatsoever. Be ready to read the book and to have snarky feedback on your work. Don't take this course with him if you're sensitive.
This is the type of professor that is disrespectful, and reflects all the negativity about the older generation of professors. He gives such a bad name to educators. Once professors like him retire, education will be great again. He is terrible. The type that will make you regret paying for HIS class
He gets a lot of hate, which I can understand because his teaching style isn't just standard lectures. This class is easy as long as you complete the reading, attend class, and pay attention. There was literally no homework, just 4 non-cumulative tests that are graded on a curve. I also found him to be very funny, which made the lectures better.
The "Teacher" only had one assignment due each week worth 4 points, none of my answers were sufficient so I got a ? written in all my comments which is VERY helpful when I have no idea how to improve. He basically sets up his canvas pages and does nothing. One of the worst classes ever, no room for improvement or extra credit so I failed.
This guy has me doing a group project and he didn't even post it as an assignment. With probably the least clear instructions I have ever read. Grades my assignments super tough too im struggling to keep an A right now and im try harding.
