Finkelsein is one of the most intelligent people i have ever met. he is very liberal, yet he listens and his classes are all abpout participation, he is funny as hell and sounds like a cartoon

Finkelstein is great. He requires a lot of reading but I really feel like I'm getting a lot out of the class. He is interesting and extremely intelligent. I really enjoy the class.

It was wonderful to be in a class with a professor who actually and so absoloutely loves teaching and his students. A wonderful expereince. Highly recommend if you want to learn something and go beyond the average.

Like people say, he is demanding, but the effort is well worth it- this guy is brilliant and has a lot to offer. also, this guy is very well respected- has articles on znet, travels for lectures, books, expert on the palestinian/israeli conflict

Dr. Finkelstein is by far the most brilliant professor on campus. Any student who is motivated to think for themselves should take him. He is also EXTREMELY hilarious...what professor can keep his/her entire classes attention at 8:30 am???&#6

He is one of the most intelligent professors at DePaul. He is funny and keeps the class interesting. He explained and discussed the text thoroughly and demands critical thinking.

I think everyone who dosent like him, are stupid, they dont like him, because they dont agree with his view....thats why its called political science dummies!! He an awesome professor.

This class has nothing to do with what the course is supposed to be about. Despite his intelligence, he resorts to vulgarity. Don't even think about not reading...even if you do read, he won't believe you!

Most people either lvoe him or they hate him. He grades pretty easily on journal entries, but his grading for papers is completely different. Good lecturer. If the class can't pass his one sentence from an entire book quizzes he calls the class losers.

He is one of the best professors that i've had at DePaul. Funny, so he keeps the class awake and interested, but also makes you learn as well. Quizes are random and essays are hard. If you can fit one of his classes in, take it, he is amazing.

Finkelstein is one of the best professors Depaul has to offer. He's funny, smart, and engages everyone in the class in to thinking differently about everything.

You will either love him or hate him. He's a great lecturer and very intelligent. I didn't like his quizzes, very picky (whoever said that his quizzes were based on one sentence out of an entire book was RIGHT). Journals and papers were easy A's.

BEyond the controversial figure, is Finkelstein the great teacher. If all Communist teacher are like him, then maybe the wrong people won the cold war. Easily one of DePaul's 5 best teachers and worth fighting for to keep here at DePaul.

Finkelstein rules!! If you don't think this class is one of the best ones at DePaul then you problably don't have two brain cells that work together. I learned a lot and opens students minds to different opinions.

One of the best professors I have had. He is very knowledgeable and funny; I never got bored and the discussions were great. Warning: he is a tough grader, but he is still worth taking.

Prof. Finkelstein is hilarious i don't think there was one class where i didn't laugh so hard. He has us write four papers after reading four mildly difficult books. Just show up to class, pay attention, do good on the papers and it will be an easy class for you.

Funny, informed. Very much open to a diversity of opinion. Comments on papers are helpful. Seems to always be available to talk.

Great class and had lots of fun discussions. Just write four papers and he will drop the lowest grade.

I enjoyed his class. I don't think he deserves to be a Prof., however. He ain't smart. If you ever heard what he sais, and espesially, how he sais it--you'll understand what I mean. (I'm suprised he even graduated high school)Take him anyway.

Finkelstein's controversial viewpoints have made Universities nervous to host him. However, he isn't afraid to put his beliefs aside, play devil's advocate, and deeply challenge every student to articulate themselves. If you read the books, and prepare an opinion, you should get through fine.

I HAVE NEVER LAUGHED AS HARD AS I DID IN THIS CLASS...AMAZING MAN WITH A BRUTAL SENSE OF HUMOR. MOST INTERESTING CLASS I HAVE HAD YET AT DEPAUL AND I AM A SENIOR. HARD...BUT DEFINITELY WORTH IT!

He can get annoying&definitely sees things dichotomously,but is an amazing lecturer.From NY and his temprement is of a typical New Yorker.I won't comment on his politics,b/c it did not affect his teaching when I had him.VERY harshly punishes people who don't read.Read&write well and you'll be fine.

finkelstein is great. i recommend his class and his books. an all around decent human being.

He encourages students to seek truth and shakes the foundation of your beliefs. Sometimes takes too long to illustarte a point, but I admire him for his ability to stand up against the rest and pursue truth.

Great professor! I'm looking forward to taking another class of his in the fall if the opportunity presents itself. Very blunt and very straightfoward, his style is not for everyone...especially those who are stuck in their own perspective. A helpful, caring professor, not mention brilliant (even if I do disagree with him on a lot of levels).

Professor Finkelstein makes you think outside your "box". He is amazing - does not clue you into his biases until you form your own. Utilizes the socratic method and is unlike any other Professor I have had, here or elsewhere. I am hooked - I love his lectures, and HATED missing class. Extremely smart and truly a great person. Biased, but honeslty who isn't? If you can't out argue him don't hate! Whether you hate or love his slant taking a class with him is worth it.

I love him! He's so random and awkward and I'm pretty sure he lives in a cave, but he's so smart that just being in one of his classes makes you feel smarter. Take him! If nothing else, he'll make you laugh.

Finkelstein IS a great professor. Some people are just so anal about everything that they cannot handle a different but interesting form of teaching. It is very refreshing to see a professor that is not constricted to just talking about what is socially acceptable. So what if he is biased, everyone is.

He's tough & he'll challenge every one of your premises.I found it invigorating to finally have a prof. who doesn't spout the usual namby-pamby garbage & takes a definitive stance, rightly or wrongly. He doesn't want you to be a drone which is why he'll provoke you, he wants you to be able to think independantly. I certainly learned something.

The non-Depaul students who have personal gripes against Prof Finkelstein--you know the ones who list the class they took as "polical science class"--thanks!) rate him negatively, big surprise. He actually doesn't even teach what he writes and lectures about so nice try guys. Finkelstein is brilliant and very sweet. You'll learn a lot.

Finkelstein is a great professor. I think he is challenging but fair, he will make you look like a fool in class if you don't know your****. But overall he is one of the best professors at DePaul.

Finkelstein is very intelligent and funny. I learned so much in his class. He likes to joke around with everyone so don't get offended. He is biased but hides his bias and doesn't mind if you have different views than he does, as long as you have a strong case. He likes participation. Fair grader.

One of the best professors I've ever had. His class is hard, you'll have to work hard to get a B, but it's worth it. Makes jokes and class goes by really fast.

This was a junior honors seminar on the Middle East conflict. It was amazing! It was a lot of reading, but you don't have to do it all to do well in the class. Just take good notes on his lectures. He is a great professor-intelligent, very clear, and thought-provoking. Highly recommended for students who actually want to learn something.

I was afraid to take this prof. at first b/c of some of the comments here, but after this class I don't know why anyone would complain about him. We all have biases! I'll admit you know where he stood on the pol. spctrm. (and I wasn't on that end), but if you want to be challenged to think, take this class. I loved him and I hope you do too! =)

Yeah, sure he is quite biased.....we all are, though-that's not the issue with the prof. What he does is make you think in a completely different manner, turning you upside down and inside out. There's a lot of self-evaluation in this class. Plus, he's hilarious and classes go by so fast. Easy A or B

Prof Finklestein was great! I was kind of worried about taking a class with him because his reputation preceeds him good or bad. I found that all you have to do is relax and dont take things so personal. It was a really good learning experience for me. I got an A!

I can't believe that no one here has mentioned how unbelievably HANDSOME Finkelstein is! He is a FANTASTIC professor, completely dedicated to the truth & very engaged with his students. Sure he has his own biases (doen't everyone?) but he is also quite deft in pointing out your own "isms". Keep an open, nonjudgemental mind & you'll learn lots!

I also agree that there is something about Finkelstine that is kind of atractive/handome. He was one of my favorite professors in DePaul and those who talk bad about him are just haters. Finkelstine is awsome! He is intelligent and makes you enjoy class.

Prof. Finklestein is the best teacher I've ever had at DePaul. He is one of the FEW Political Science teachers who keeps his ideology out of the classroom and for that I commend him. DePaul's finest. Finkelstein is an iconoclast. He makes you question everything and forces you to take a stand on issues. He makes class engaging and fun. I have utmost respect and admiration for him. He's a great role model.

Finkelstein rocks! Most of the negative comments here are posted by people who aren't his students, he actually never lectures about the topics he's known for in class. Instead he's a dedicated instructor who will challenge you to think for yourself and uses the Socratic method of teaching. He's also kinda hot!

There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING better in the world than a sexy, radical Jewish intellectual who knows what he's talking about, hilarious to listen to and with lots of insightful thoughts about the political reality in the world these days. Do yourself a favor and take Finkelstein's class - I hope to God that Depaul keeps him.

Very, very intelligent man. He's sort of funny - laughs at his own jokes more than anyone else. Though I learned a lot about Israel and Palestine, I wish the class would have felt a little more unbiased. Finkelstein is a strange strange man and will say things sometimes that just totally surprises you. He's definitely a big fan of himself.

he is a very unique character...and sometimes moody...he can make your life misarble if he'll want to especially with crazy mid-term test in which he expects you to know by heart all the text excerpts you took during the semester. I took him once and dont plan to do it again because I care for my GPA and his class is a gamble of that!!!

Finkelstein is the only professor I've ever taken who makes class so interesting that I never wanted class to end. He's brilliant and excellent at getting students to really think about the issues. I'd love to take him again and I hope he gets tenure at DePaul.

I absolutely LOVE this guy! He's amazingly intelligent and he has got to be the funniest professor at DePaul. He makes it so much fun to go to class and you respect him because he knows his stuff so well - really respectable and funny. GREAT! TAKE HIM! not the EASIEST, but TOTALLY worth it!

Fantastic teacher. I can't believe that DePaul has denied him tenure - Depaul's loss because this guy was fantastic as a prof. Whoever gets him next will totally luck out.

DePaul has failed its students by not giving him tenure. I was furious when I found out he was denied; its a shame he has too much pride to come back for another term because I would take his class in a heartbeat. I wish him all the luck in the world.

I am so mad that DePaul has denied him tenure. Very hard prof. but if you are only in college for easy profs. you are here for the wrong reason. I thought he was the best the department and perhaps even the school had. I'm truly sad to see him go :(

God, Finkelstein was the greatest. I'm so glad I had him when I did. It's absolutely ridiculous DePaul denied him tenure. Everyone should transfer schools to follow Finkelstein.

If you've never had a class with him, you shouldn't comment. If you have and you still don't know he's amazing...you probably failed because you never came to class and thus didn't fully grasp the reading

Professor Finkelstein's intellect, logic, and teaching style are nothing short of inspirational. Although I took his class a while back (which was quite difficult), his teachings remain relevant and thought provoking to this day. I was truly lucky to have had him!
