For the sake of your GPA, do not take this ****. He is boring, half the class leaves because he is not help. Everything that ive got from economics is because ive read the book on my own. I got a D+ because of this boring a s s professor. he is below average for Baruch.
In regards to the tests just to the quizes he posts online they are the same exact questions and if you can get previous tests thats really good too.
not a bad professor, you have to study all the quizes on line to get a good grade. curve but not a lot.
Just go to class for attendance and leave...Read the book on your own cause his lectures make no sense. If u read the chapters for the test u should get out of the clas with nothing less than an A-
there is no use to attend the class. He is very boring. It is best to read the book to understand the concepts. But if you enjoy daydreaming and planning ahead of ur week then I recommend you to go to his class.
I am a type of person who never underestimate any professors. But this one is just impossible. He is horrable.I never ever imagined in my life that I would encounter any one like him. Please trust me.Please don't take him even though he is the last professor on the earth.
boring class...no matter how much coffee I drank before the class, i always ended up passing out 20 minutes into the class
Don't pay attention to his letcutures. It's soo boring and it won't help you much. Review the tests from blackbord over and over again and read the chapters througly. Self study is the best for this class if you want a good grade.
FOR MY RUSSIAN CATS, HES A KA-LA-BOK! HES MAD BORING, AND HIS LECTURES ARE USELESS. HARD GRADER. IF YOU WILL TAKE HIM JUST COME AND GET MARKED THERE THEN LEAVE. DO BB OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND READ THE BOOK ON YOUR OWN. I STUDIED MAD HARD AND GOT A C. CLASS AVERAGE WAS BELOW C. THERE ARE WORSE PROF'S
not a recommended one
Failed it with him. He zooms through all the chapters! Boring! Hard! Take Agioutanti(the best eco prof)
I don't know what people are talking about, I think he explains very well, and the tests are very easy, its the same material than the quizzes.
Multiple choice exams. Grades by the book. Study from book and you'll be fine. Got an A in the class... not sure how. Not the hardest prof but certainly not the easiest.
Lectures are useless. Read the book and you can get a good grade. 40 questions m/c exams. If you enjoy sleeping, go there for that. He gives extra credit quizzes for you to earn up to 5 points extra. You HAVE to read the book in order to pass.
HORRIBLE he is sooooooooo boring. You would be awake the whole day and then come to his class and immediately fall asleep. It's amazing! His tests though are extremely easy -- he puts questions from online quizes on the test. Just read the textbook!!!!! and you will be fine
do not take him at any cost. he has a attitude problem. exams are way harder. you will not understand a thing from his lecture because it soooooo boring. if you want to take a nap between the classes, take this class and sleep.the final was very hard. save your life and GPA and avoid him.
Terrible Prof. he occasionally freaks out and yells at someone for something trivial. Tests are hard, lectures are boring, and if it wasn't for wifi I would have died. Avoid this Prof.
his lecture is useless and very boring just read the textbook and do the extra credit quiz and u will be fine
This class is a waste of time, and he can't teach. Also, he makes a a micro class harder than it should be by giving hard exams and a final that is extremly hard. He is another one of those Baruch professors who will mess up ur gpa.
I had both Weiss and him,he is much better. At least he try to teach things that will be on exam.Class is sometimes boring, but which class is not?Just go to class, try to listen, and when the exam comes, read the chapters,do the study guide Qs,then you will get at least a B+. His exam are much easier than Weiss' so dont complain!Thts wht i did,i got A
I think he is a really good professor, if u put attention in class u don't have to read the book. He gets very detail about economics but he's supposed to, its a business school.
He's a bit anal but he's very enthusiastic about the subject and knows his stuff, however don't expect to pass by just going to class. You HAVE to read the book and make sure you do the practice problems.
All i did was read teh book, take practice exams and slept/played on my laptop in class, and got an A for the course. The lecture and recitation (haha) are completely useless. Never attended recitation. Just read the book, and A or at least a- are guaranteed.
f**k this teacher
He is the worst professor I have ever had. Avoid him at all cost!!!
His class is incredibly boring. There is no need to attend recitation classes because all they do is read slides which you can obtain yourself. All he does is go over graphs and some examples from the text, but doesn't do over anything in depth. Avoid taking him at all costs. It is not worth it.
Good Professor, but boring class. Read the book and do the quizzes, and you get an A. And you can sleep away in class
You have to read. Come to class for attendence. You can attempt to listen, but just read... READ READ READ
hmmm...attendance for lecture is required, but not for rec. and you can just sleep sleep sleep zzzzzzzzzz in class...or sit in back and take attendance when that attendance guy comes up to you, then just leave...just READ READ READ the book and PRACTICE PRACTICE the exams on blackboard...an A is gauranteed! i got an A myself.
I was always late 4 the class cause i knew i didn't actually have to be there 4 no useful info was really provided. I ended up studying 4 approx. 12 hrs in 3 days 4 his final, and I did Ok (got an A). Basically, take him if u dont' mind reading the book on your own. His tests are doable if you self-study urself the chapters and do 1+ practice tests
his test is very hard! he doesn't give curve! you should never take him!!
lecture and recitation useless. this class can be passed only if u study on ur own. attend class for attendance n do something else instead. waste of time to go to this class. if u try to liste ur wasting ur energy. do the extra cr quizes and practise a lot. his tests arent that hard. find a better prof if u can
This was the most boring class I ever took. He is NOT helpful and should be fired!
Material is somewhat difficult to grasp. Attendance is mandatory, but lectures not always helpful. Professor is not very helpful, no office hours. I read the chapters right before the exam and managed an A regardless. If youre not a person who can be self-taught, avoid this professor because you'll only get help from the recitation TA if needed
3 tests... he takes the higher of the first 2 exams and averages it with the final. Lectures are useless. Must read on your own to pass. Final is hard though.
Just go to class for attendance in lec. Do not hav to go to rec xcept if u hav probs. Just study from textbook and do the xtra credit questions in BB and u will b ready for the exams.
This guy is a bum! stay away from him. he teaches this intro class like its grad school. his test are very difficult.
hate his teaching method, horrible, i read the book all by myself, still dont know anything because he is of no help. Just chats the whole time, hate it.
Really bad profssor. Lectres made absolutely no sense. You must read the book to understand and pass the class. Recitation is also useless. He gives three tests one of which is the final. He takes the higher of the first two and the final and averages it out. Just his meaningless lectures wil make you want to stay away from this guy.
The lecture is really useless, I read the whole book and understand everything by myself.
YOu think you are doing good in this class then the final comes and you get the worst grade. Do not take unless you know all your stuff before hand.
horrible professor. no point going to the lectures, he complicates everything more than it should be. tests are overly hard and unfair. never take him!
I don't understand what everyone is talking about. I admit his lectures can be a little dry, but he does explain the concepts thoroughly. His tests come straightfrom the book.If you read the book you ll be okay. He also give a 6 point extra credit in every test, and at the end he gives another 6 point curve.I got an A, and I think I learned a lot.
The lecture is boring sometimes. But he's a fair grader.
The worse professor i have ever see. you won't get help form the exteremly boring, useless, and time-wasting lecture. read whole book yourself, and he gives you some tricky problems. only curve the final, but still don't help. avoid him if you can!!!
My God, what is everybodies problem? You dumb losers, Klainber is the easiest, cutest, and sexiest professor I have seen in any college.
Def. a better teacher than Weiss. But both are very boring. There are some extra credit you can have in the class. Quizzes online that add a point or two for the tests. And problems you solve in groups for e.c. You could fail the final and still pass the class supposedly.

OMG, Kleinberg is so freaking boring. On the second class, you will probably notice that people are either disappearing or sleeping in the class. He is good but not very helpful, I didn't learn jack in his class. I had to withdraw from his class and retake the class. But thank God that I took Prof. Joyce, he is so much better.
this guy should get retired! damn boring, and teach nothing!!
good points:- a lot of extra credits (Around 8 to 12), 5 absence limit...Bad points:- u will learn NOTHING about economics 'coz his lectures doesn't make any sense...half the class is sleeping..or leave after attendence is taken...first exam wil b easy...final will suck your blood!..don't let ur cell phone ring, don't walk in front of him, don't ta
Gives easiest exams. Took him for micro and macro. Never opened the book, nor went to the recitations. Studied 6 hours before each exam from book and got an easy A. His lectures do not cover everything but thats what your recitation is for, if you need help. Kleinberg makes economics easy, would have changed my major if I wasnt close to finish.
Really bad, nothing else.
No matter how much you study and read the chapters, and even if you use the study guide, he will find tricky questions for the exam. I actually went out of my way to buy the study guide before the final, and it did help but this guy loves putting tricky questions on the exam.
Although a great speaker occasionally and is very straight forward when explaining a particular concept. However his questions are not straight forward in the exams. Be careful of his exams.
Macroeconomics is just an attempt to justify socialism via meaningless equations. This class will be a torture regardless of the professor. Kleinburg gives helpful practice questions that double as extra credit for the test. Book not needed.
lectures are boring and useless. but pay some attention to it, so that u at least no what he's talking abt, then just read the bk and do practice from SG, then you'll at least get a B+...WOrk lil bit harder for A! it's not hard for an A, but will need to pay little bit more attention in class, and time for practicing!
He's a nice, boring professor. His lectures are really boring, but sometimes it does help you understand the materials in the text. If you want to sleep in the class, feel free to do so but don't ever disrupt his class. I personally think it's really easy to get a good grade in this course. Just read the text and you'll be fine.
Explains the subject clearly, no HW, easy exams and gives a lot of extra credits
No homework, easy class, straight forward and to the point explanations - you should take him!
Good prof...keeps you interested in subject matter.
He's not that bad for the Summer Session! He went over the midterm with us, and it wasn't that hard. Just read the book and do the questions in the study guide! Only midterm and final! He's nice and will explain the topics again until you understand them!
Very good professor, knows the subject well, but the subject itself can get tricky in some parts. Doesn't like people coming late to his class. If you read the book and the articles from WSJ he assigns, this class is an easy A.
Nice professor. Very strict with attendance and lateness as he should be. He goes on tangents and I found it hard to understand his point. If you read the book and do MyEconLab online or study guide you should do well.
Great professor, really wants you to understand the material. Will go over it more than once if people don't get it. Never be late, never disrupt his class, read the textbook chapters and do the study guide questions and you'll do just fine. He's quite interesting and very enthusiastic about the material. Also a very fair grader.
HE was OK. not great, but ok. should not take during summer session becus he is very unorganized. We had to skipp so many chapters in order to catch up with HIS syabalus. Take someone else if you think going over 2-3 chapters a day is hard
He seemed to be tough at first, but he is very passionate about teaching. He also gives many chances to students by givin extra credit assignments wich are EXTREMELY helpful!!! I definetly recomend him!!!
He did cover all the material and gave good examples. Exams are straight-forward, study guide helps. Its just difficult to understand everything because the size of the class is so big. If you don't understand the book, he makes it clearer.
Ok professor. Uses a lot of economical terms that no one wold understand unless they were majoring in economics. He gives out 3 tests, drops the lowest grade. Gives out extra credit and provides a lot of online quizzes. Be ready to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal if you take him.
I took him during the summer and that was not the best of things to do. Basically, buy the study guide and do it over and over again till it etches in your brain...that way you are garenteed at least an A- [thats what i got] Oh, and dont buy the Wall Street Journal...just google the info :)
not hard if you pay attention
Quite arguably the best Professor at Baruch. Very knowledgeable and definitely sparked my interest in Micro-Economics. Sincerely interested in his students learning the material...Gives lots of extra-credit...and exams are pretty straight forward.
def need the book, read it until u get sick of it and u'll do good, do all EC quizzes, they're mad easy and they help a lot!, pick recitation class with panayatova, she's the best, easy A if u study, dont bother taking notes, lecture is pretty useless, but make sure u know which WSJ articles to read, he does ask questions on them
helpful, but puts you to sleep...
Loved this class!!!
His style of teaching is very boring. The voice doesn't change or grab your attention. You want to kill yourself out of boredom but the tests are pretty forward. You might want to read the textbook while you in class to study for the tests (2/3) Most of the stuff is similar to extra credit quizzes put up online b4 each test. Eco is a boring sub.
eventhou i didn't do good on first two tests, i still got a good grade. do extra credits, mad easy, be attentative, u could be absent 3-4 times, very boring but still u will end up with a good grade. in the end, he gives a good grade take him. read chapters b4 exam, do practice questions & xtra credits u'll be fine
The Supply high, the demand low. This prof. is Horrible. Complicates everything, does not know how to teach and is overall, boreing! I would just outsource taking this professor to another in the Department. you wont learn a thing, but surely will be bored.
the most boring and unfair professor i ever had so far. He's strict and will take off points on exams for bad behavior in class ( which could include talking in class, even once), really pathetic...can't believe he's still teaching, if you want to learn and get a good fair grade do not take him...
The only students who don't like him are those who have no consideration for learning. the guy tries everything to make sense out of a complicated topic. his is great. most people were interested in an easy A with working for it. many people were on their laptops and many left after attendence. can't blame the prof for your laziness.
Kleinberg is one of Baruch's BEST professors. Contrary to what some have said, he teaches very clearly. His tests are the most straight-forward in the dept. He also gives extra credit ch. quizes online and even reuses some of the questions on his exams. There are 3 exams and he drops the lowest of the first two. Great guy, makes it interesting. A+!
VERY GOOD professor... the subject is a little boring, but he is kindda FUNNY and if you just listen, you will learn a lot.I had no interest whatsoever about eco before i took him, but now i really like economics. 2 easy tests and a final. Drops the lower of the two.
Avoid him if you can. Yes, he does have extra credit quizzes, but it's not worth it. Personally, I found his class to be rather boring. You can learn just as much by reading the text book on your own. The only reason people went was bc attendance was mandatory, but there were tons of people sleeping. He's a funny guy, but he can't really teach.
FIRSTLY HE IS NOT FUNNY JUST ANNOYING.SECONDLY HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENTS BECAUSE HE HAS TENURE (HE SAID SO). HOWEVER HIS TESTS ARE STRAIGHTFORWARD FROM THE BOOK, SO READ IT!! THE REVIEW SESSIONS ALSO HELP. I SUGGEST DON'T BUY THE WSJ. LOOK UP THE ARTICLES ONLINE. OVERALL HE WAS NOT ENGAGING OR FUNNY. IF YOU GET HIM JUST READ THE TEXTBOOK!!
ok... he is not exactly interesting... but you learn more by teaching yourself.... so read the textbook and do the EC quizes go to recitation go to class and practice on your own and you will do fine...i did that and got an a.... as for the WSj subscribe online so you can go to archives anytime you want and retrieve the articles he is talking about
One of Baruch's BEST! Anyone who said otherwise is lazy. Tests are EXTREMELY straightforward, gives 5pt. Extra Credit quizes on blackboard for each test, & uses some of the questions on exam. Allows 6 absenses, and drops lowest of first two exams & averages highest with final. Very clear+concise. His lectures are interesting as well. RECOMMENDED!
Please avoid if you can, i am an A student and he ruined my GPA. I studied very, very, very hard ad could not get higher than a B. He teaches an indroductory class at PhD level.
One of the few that ***still GIVES A DAM*** about his job!!!! He seems tough, but he gives many many changes!!!!Just wished there were more professors like him!!!
I am am average student- A's and B's- and i got a B in the class- it is possible to do well if you put it in the effort and follow along in the book- the tests are thorough but it is possible to do really well if you study the entire time not just right before the test, also he is a really nice guy and interesting, class went by really fast
great professor. explains the material very well but you definitely have to put in the effort into reading the textbook. he gives extra credit quizzes on blackboard which help as well. the Wall Street Journal questions could be a pain but only amount to 2 - 3 questions on each of the 3 tests.
OK guys, hes really not as bad as people make him out to be his tests are on the easy side however the WSJ is very annoying! the quizez appear on the test word for word and he really tries to help out of class. i didnt get an A in this class bc it is a hard sub but he really did his best 2 help... maybe i could have studied more.. i would recommhim

bring a pillow becuse u will be sleeping which he allows lol as long as you dont snore...his tests r the same every year had i known that prior... but his lectures are as boring as they get he goes off on tangents, and get ready to buy the wall street journal everydy and save it for 2 weeks - but you do get a good nap.
this guy couldnt teach if his life depended on it... i am an A and B type student and i got a C in his class. the book isnt hard to follow but all he does is talk about WSJ with like 2 kids while everyone else is bored out of their minds... i learned nothing in his class. get another professor if u want to learn economics and not ruin ur gpa
he is a great professor but u have to take good note on his wsj news. and u have to read the text book. he is not that hard, just that you have to work harder.
he is a great professor but u have to take good note on his wsj news. and u have to read the text book. he is not that hard, just that you have to work harder.
horrible teacher. talks about stuff that is NEVER on the test. doesnt help with anything. can go to class and pay attention but still know nothing. avoid him
Very poor performance.Do not trust him.when he smiles he wants to trick you.Do not keep him for his words. He also claims that he hates teaching.Do not see any publication in the last 30 years on his CV either
Horrible
This professor and his class is such a bore. I learned absolutely nothing in his class. He moves at such a fast pace that it's hard to ask him questions. He doesn't care about the students. He leaves as fast as he comes in to begin the class.
the man was too disorganized for the lectures. He has no slides, no way of organizing his thoughts. he just talked about current events like he was teaching macro. also there was like 50 million curves he would just keep drawing and drawing. he also changed his format unlike other semesters where you have to purchase a access code for the extra pts
You must be on DRUGS!This guy is the best prof. I dont wanna work hard either. And you dont have to in his class. Dont read the book! just listen to what he has to say, and read the book before the exams. Get the exams from previous semsters (almost the same questions). His class is MAD EASY.Dont listen to other raters, listen to me and u get an A
If you value your GPA Do NOT TAKE THIS PROF. This warning comes from a smart student with nearly 4.0 GPA. I read the book, used the study guide and the online quizzes (to which I did well) and I still bombed on the exams. He doesn't help at all. Can't teach, rambles on about current event that will not be on the exam. Please AVOID if you love urself
This is a large class, so you won't get a chance to talk to or address any of your issues. Generally the tests are somewhat tricky (the way they are worded). In this course you are pretty much on your own concerning learning the material. P.S. TO THE GUY WHO'S ALWAYS ANSWERING QUESTIONS: SHUT UP ALREADY, YOU'RE %$@)ING ANNOYING!!! DAMN SMARTASS!!!
The best prof in Baruch !
for the guy that has a nearly 4.0 gpa and bombed, thats cuz ur dumb and cant read. if ur good at reading a textbook on ur own and can pretty much teach urself, this course is for u. his lectures do help if u pay attention, but u honestly do not need them. if u have a hard time understanding charts, listen to him. other than that, its cake.
Read the book that should help alot
Easiest Professor in the world. Sure his class is boring and u might fall asleep, but he teaches very well. If you read the book you will understand everything, but if you don;t understand he will go over it in class. If you are lucky enough to have him you should definitely take him.
He teaches the class like theres only the front 20 kids. People in the back cant even read his charts, because he dont use PP. The Wallstreetjournal is annoying too, but hes a nice guy and has a great grading system. You shouldnt get under a b
Take him!!! if you study(regularly) you will get a good grade...i didn't so it was my fault -*-
Try to do really well on the first exam, it's MUCH easier than the final but it's 50% of your grade. Just read the book, it's really easy and you will understand everything from the book. Attendance is mandatory but you can sleep or read something in class (huge class, 300 people). Curves a lot.
Yes he is boring, but he is very helpful and easy. Make sure you do well on his tests, and pay attention in class, but if you have the book you will be fine.
To be honest, his lectures put some students to sleep. But by putting 5-10 WSJ questions on the exams forced me to learn a lot about the world and economy around us. So...I have to give him credit for that. Other than that, he's a fair professor. 3 exams: take average from one of the first 2 exams(drop the lowest) and final.
Easy. 3 tests, counts 2. gives extracredit thats is online(easyyy). The first test is the easiest so make sure you study. and study previous tests' questions because they help you clarify some concepts and allows you to practice. Make sure to write all the WSJ topics down and what he says about them bc they will be on the test!
My grade was low because of his lack of availability. He doesnt return e:mail or phonecalls so if you need help, your basically on your own. He will, however answer questions during the break but you'll be lucky to have your question answered since he's surrounded by students w/questions. If he does answer, it is brief and he shoves u away.Avoid hi
His lectures were extremely boring. DO NOT Take him. Choose another professor.
This class was great! How can you expect to pass economics without understanding what you are talking about? Obviously, reading the textbook and doing the quizzes would be the smart thing to do for any class. Paying attention is not difficult, as long as you know whats going on. Don't expect to get a free ride though, it does take work.
Kinda boring
Boring and annoying. Not an easy professor.
Please avoide a t all cost. Baruch has the worse proffesors and those who said he was OK professor doesn't know any better. This guy is absolutely unprofessional, unethical and boring as hell who doesnt give a sh... about you or your grade. So the lesson to be learned take it with someone esle who really cares that you actually paid them to tech yo
Professor is often straying from the syllabus. The student is on their own if they want to pass an exam. Read the book, and ask the assistant professor for help. If he gets through a chapter, it is most likely rushed through, and the main points may have been only slightly brushed on. Quit aberrating, and start teaching properly.
Not the toughest class but it does require understanding and work. The professor is alright. But yeah, make sure you read the textbook inside and out, and that you really understand the concepts because his final exam is tricky!
He is not very good at teaching. He gets off topic a lot and ends up not covering a lot of stuff for the exams. He is very strict about lateness and talking in class, if he's in a bad mood that day he will call you out in class and deduct points. He does not explain material well but expects you to know it either way. Would NOT recommend him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS unless you want to mess up your gpa. worked hard for nothing. gives two exams and one final. averages the highest of the 2 exams and the final...terrible grading system IMO. can be temperamental, goes off topic all the time and doesnt have time to cover the material, made the subj soo boring. avoid him!
RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK! That's the best advise for this class, I have never seen anyone with such an attitude and so ignorant like this old man. He has turned my life and GPA to SH.. I was 4.0 student before I registered for this class. Make a decision and I hope it will be the right one! AVOID !
If you plan on taking this course, don't you dare forget to read the Wall Street journals he assigns all the time. They will appear on exams! Teaching wise, he's alright. A good sense of humor but the textbook is almost of no use to me since the exams were waay harder than the stuff we read on the texts. You better study a lot if you want to do goo
Loves Monetarist policy. Lectures with his eyes closed. Plays favorites. Loses no sleep in destroying your GPA. Horrible to evil.
TAKE HIM RIGHT NOW!... if you want to ruin your GPA! my gpa right now is around a 3.4 and i got my lowest grade ever (C) in baruch because of this so called professor.. he cannot teach if his life depended on it (and hopefully it does) and when you go up to him he's pretty rude... oh yeah and he smells really bad
this is like my first time commenting and i would definately have to say that the previous negative comments are true. His teaching method wasn't working for half the class and the whole wall street journal article was just stupid
I would definitely recommend this professor. He tries to keep the class interesting, however, it doesn't always work, especially with half the class falling asleep. He loves the WSJ articles so make sure you know them for the test. He gives 3 exams for the semester and drops your lowest grade, with the opportunity for extra credit. Take him.
very boring prof. he's the only teacher still using the projector! he spends most of the class talking abt current economic issues, and WSJ articles. you're gonna have to read the textbook on your own to study for exams. no point in going to class, you will fall asleep.
If u want to pass this class wit a good grade, read the textbook!! his lectures are useless n all he does is just puts ppl to sleep. however, he curves his tests, and gives extra credit quizzes. so if u take this class wit a friend, and read the book and the articles, ull be fine!
He is great. His lectures are not only stay in the textbook, but also related to the current economy. Extremely helpful!
The most useless professor ever!! He's horrendously boring, doesn't teach much and self indulges in his own knowledge, he can solve anyone's insomnia problem.. Unhelpful and pretentious, yeah he curves, but that's only because he's trying to keep students from dropping his class. Killed my interest in economics. AVOID THIS GUY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
I bite my lips every class to stay awake. I only fight the urge to sleep in fear of getting points deducted. Forces you to buy the WSJ by quizzing you on it in the mids and finals. Goes off topics sometimes, and leaves the rest up to you. If you have no choice, just read the book and google the current events he's talking about.
Economics is a difficult course to teach, period. Kleinberg is a really knowledgeable professor but his exams are quite difficult. Even with the EC, the exams are difficult to ace. And whoever said he smells, that's simply just mean and inhumane to say! He's a good guy, the subject itself is just complex and requires a lot of time to understand.
he is a really good prof that knows his stuff.. he is used to teach in grad school tho.. so he probably "trusts" too much on undergrads that are just trying to fulfill a requirement.. he pays a lot of attention to the current economical environment, which makes him lose focus a bit
This guy is completely useless. Nobody can stay awake in his class and you basically have to teach yourself the material from the book just to get a low grade. Waste of money and time. It's sad that this guy is one of the only micro economics professors.
2 paths to take: 1) read the textbook before the lesson, & you'll know what he's talking about, so you can sleep in class. 2) DON'T read the textbook, and learn during class. but he talks too fast, so you can't catch up, and you have no idea what he's saying, so sleep anyway.
You definitely learn a lot. The material is a bit tricky, but nothing you can't handle. I truthfully didn't read the chapters until about two weeks before the exam. 3 exams, takes higher of first two and the final. You must know wsj articles and understand them. Study hard and pay attention in his lectures. He definitely is a bit boring. Suck it up
This guy is a nightmare. He's mostly off-topic talking about WSJ articles n current events, rarely touches the book. If you hate active learning and love books, take him. Cuz u're gonna have to do a lot of reading, on ur own. I want my 500 dollars back because all he did was wasting my time by making attendance mandatory. Help yourself n AVOID HIM.
txtbook more helpful than the prof.talks bout his wife and not the subject.goes off topic 24/7-never finishes his sentences.only reason ppl say exams r easy is cuz he uses the same exams over and over again. he curves and gives EC. WSJ r simple and easy. not alot given.for econ major students: u'll sleep. for nonmajors: take him to simply get an A
goes off topic 24/7 always about macro not micro!!.never explains. txtbook helpful. WSJ r simple and easy-not a lot. exams are easy all multiple choice. final grade is avg out 2/3 exams; online quizzes for EC. ull sleep alot in this class and can still get an A. curves exams too
The worst experiences i had in Baruch is with this Professor. All I did was sleep in the class. Lecture is useless and textbook too. The final really kills your grade in the end. This class is an easy C.
He knows his stuff. Yes, sometimes the class is boring, but if you just tune yourself in then it flies by quickly. His jokes are pretty funny and intelligent, especially when he says "Professor, professor!?" I took this class and got an A-. And that's only because I was lazy and didn't study earlier. Don't read the other comments, he's a good prof.
He's an ok professor, not that bad. Lectures may sometime stray off topic & he thinks he is kind of amusing and likes to ramble on saying nonsense occasionally but its clear that he knows his stuff. Tests are challenging and recitation is broing. Not easy to stay awake sometimes. Study more than you think you need to always or it'll be a waste
He talks amongst himself too much. I suggest you bring your laptop or go to sleep. I learned mostly from the textbook, study guide, and the extra credit online quizzes. Recitation was pointless and he's strict on being on time to class. 2 tests, 1 final. 40 q's and wsj (you can get for free).
This guy is the epitome of what a professor should NOT be! He can't teach, won't explain, makes stupid jokes that only he laughs at, will cut you off if you dare to try answer a question! If it wasn't for my self teaching I would've failed the class. This is why tenure positions don't work, you have useless morons like him torturing students 4ever
EASY as long as you read the textbook and the wall st journals well. You just need to understand most of the concepts. He gives out extra credit which is a boost plus he curves exams which makes it even better. Although he is quite boring and you can't really learn in class its not that hard to get a good grade.
friends said this was an easy course but something must have changed because he makes it much harder to even get a C. probably new course audit? theres just too much work to do, and the exams are too complicated. especially not good for a non-eco major.
This professor's exams are impossible and gives a lot of homework. Even though this is an introductory course, he is very smug and thinks we should know everything by now. he seems to have gotten harder every semester.
he doesn't care about his students, end of story. He'd rather give you an D and screw up your GPA than anything else. Take anyone else, ANYONE!!!
It's kinda hard to learn in his class for some reason, so you gotta read the book for sure if you want to learn the material. Online quizzes are extra credit which are helpful and he curves your grade. Not too bad of a teacher but you will have to work hard and learn on your own.
I dont care what anyone says, this prof is the man.. hes a great professor and hes hillarious.. if you want to pass, you have to read the text.. yes the material is hard but in order to get a good grade you have to do your work.. defiantly recommend, but be prepared to do work!!
Those who gave him bad grades don't go to recitation and dont utilize the tools he gives for EXTRA CREDIT. Go to recitation, the profs there will teach you faster and anything you don't understand will be explained in the lecture. Also going to recitation gets you brownie points, it's 50 mins guys. I went from a A- to an A. Easy prof, easy class
If no one know the answer then you have to look it up. I wouldnt prefer him if theres another professor. Even if you have the test it doesnt help you that much. Cause you still have to read from the book. It doesnt matter if you go to class or not. Read the Book.
Stuff is easy, though extremely hard to stay awake in class... expect to study and learn the material by yourself.
It's a large class, allot of material. He is trying to do what he can.Disrespect students. If you do quizes and read the book you will do fine. Take him! In comparing with some others he is not the worsest one.
For some people, numbers is not a big deal, if this applies to you, take this man. This man will explain everything there is to know in class and the recitation will help A LOT. The class is by itself slow moving and we take our time learning everything. Awesome guy, online homework and text books make this class incredibly easy
he is a total waste, seriously. if you'd like to teach yourself eco 1001 take him, if theres nothing open, take him. however dont expect to learn from him. its like he speaks in a language only he understands, idk. w.e, avoid if you can
Avoid this class!!
Wow, what people said was right... avoid this class at all costs. He tries to screw up your GPA .. BAD!! I was on track for an A the whole semester and his lame ass final dropped me to a B+. However, he gave me a B... HOW'S THAT POSSIBLE OLD TURD!?
Excellent professor! Hates blatant disrespect, as all professors do but he is very down to earth and helpful. Study the text + powerpoints before lectures to better understand the material. He will do what he can to help the class understand and perform better, but you must make an effort to learn the material. He can't perform miracles!
Prof. Kleinberg is a biting professor. He is very strict with the rules that he posted on Aplia like if you disobey a rule such as exiting at the front door instead of the back, he will come after you. Also, his tests are not very nice. He ruined my GPA because I got a C in his class. A very boring guy. Because of this, many people fall asleep
Terrible professor, worst one I've ever had. If you want to be confused and not do well, take this class.
He talks about current events and foreign trade a lot. Class was boring but an easy A. You just have to do better than everyone else. If you go to recitation i think he hooks you up with a better grade.
I dont understand why people say he is so terrible. He is a very good professor, knows what he is teaching, you can ask him questions, he makes funny jokes. READ THE TEXTBOOK & assigned WSJ articles. You just have to think on exams, got 95% on my midterm, studied 2h. It is not an easy A, but its not overwhelming.
dont even bother going to class. Just sign in and leave and skim the textbook at home and do practice assignments he posts and you will def get an A. THis topic is soo easy and the textboks covers it beter than him. he's really wierd and has the corniest jokes too.
Terrible professor. Extremely long-winded when trying to explain things and makes you pay $80 for an online textbook (you don't even get a hard copy, which is so stupid). Homeworks are manageable. First test is easy, but the second and the final are ridiculously hard. He makes the topic harder than it has to be. Avoid this teacher if you can.
Big on respect. Just follow the rules. I don't like that he gives so few chances to boost your grade. Homework once a week. Talks a lot. Hard tests.
He is a very good teacher. Course material is explained very clearly and tests completely relate to it. The only complaint I have is the $90 online membership to Aplia we have to get.
This professor is very good. I learned a whole lot in his class and i dont understand why people on here bash him. Maybe its because they didnt apply themselves enough and got a low grade. It is not an easy class and you do have to read the material in order to get a good grade. Take Him. Good Luck.
was a very fair class to me. Textbook use is very high. want to get an A? do every homework and do each problem correctly. ace the first test. and do well in the final. attend class, and don't miss too many recitations. listen to him in class and read the book, and the tests will be easy. if you want and work for an A, you can get it. good luck.
This professor made economics more confusing than it already was. Granted economics is one of my least favorite subjects. I couldn't keep myself awake. If you work hard, you like the subject, and you dedicate yourself, you can achieve an A. He diverts from the material often.
EASIEST A IN THE SCHOOL
AS if students dont have enough to study, he adds his pick of articles from the wall street journal on the exams!! The articles should be optional and not on the exams! His exams are tough but he gave a 2.5 pt curve to everyone and he always follows up on annoucements.
i dont know how he gets a 2.9 rating. he is such a bad professor. exams are okay but he doesn't teach anything in class. the only good thing is that somedays he doesnt take attendance so those days you can leave early.
He made economics harder to understand in most lectures. He drops the lowest test grade so just do well on either. Don't screw up on the final. No extra credit. He takes the average of what you score on the aplia hws so take your time on that. Recitation didn't help much either. You're better off teaching yourself from the readings
Despite the fact I'm a Psych major with absolutely no interest in Economics, I was able to get an A. Go to every lecture, do the hw, STUDY for the exams and you will do the fine. The guy is actually a bit funny, can be confusing sometimes but if you review with the textbook you will understand the concepts.
Boring, makes concepts harder to understand than they really are, homeworks are due at awkward time at 5PM at Sunday
Good Guy pretty funny. Class overall is an easy A. Drops one of two tests and then a final.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER, TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO FAIL.
Extremely passionate and clear. Goes over all the slides thoroughly. Very strict about attendance. Takes the highest out of the first two exams at 40% and the third exam is at 40% and the HW is 20%. Slides are on aplia.com. Materials are interesting. Best economics professor! Very doable! PEACE
take my advice and listen to what the majority of the students on this page are saying. this professor is very hard and can ruin your GPA. do not take this class. you will regret it.
Go to class!! He is strict with attendance and tardiness. I failed his class the first time because I thought it would be a walk through. Just know the information. His test are tricky. Takes the highest out of the first two exams at 40% and the third exam is at 40% and the HW is 20%.Just get a good grade on the first exam. Know the HW. Have effort.
Had him for Micro. He is ok if you are able to study on your own. His grade calculations are harsh. Basically, 40% is the highest of the two first exams, and the third (final) is 40%. The hwks are 20%. I had a near perfect 99% in his class until the final. BE CAREFUL AND STUDY IN ADVANCE. Also, his retakes are much harder..
He makes economics theories harder to understand. Put too much time on taking attendance. I think he should set a better rule for students to enter the room. I don't see other professors have a problem when students enter the lecture.
Worst Professor I ever had. I am a straight A student and had a 3.9 GPA. I ended up with a C because his final was literally impossible. I asked about 20 other students and not one got above a 70. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
His lectures are so boring, luckily he doesn't take attendance. All he does is read from the slides that you can find online. Lecture was not helpful you need to read the textbook and slides on your own. Do practice problems in book and online they help!
He was a pretty good professor. He can get a tad boring, but the coursework is easy to understand, especially with the use of aplia. He is strict on attendance, so don't miss class. And he drops the lowest out of the two first tests. He is pretty fair.
Attendance in the beginning was mandatory and then end semester it wasn't. He was an alright professor but can get boring. Personally, economics is not a subject of interest, so it was hard to stay focused in his class. He tries to be interesting, but for some students, it just doesn't work out.
Well if you're looking for a place where you can sleep on surf the net then this is the class you want, cause that's all i did the semester. If you want to do good then you'll have to self-study a lot more than you would hope.
The worst professor I've ever come across.
He curves the grades a lot. I thought I was going to get a C but ended up with a B. He drops one of the first two tests. However, 2nd test is harder than the first one so try doing well on the first one. Also, the final isn't that hard; I only studied for two hours before the test.
Took him for Micro and taking him again for macro. not the best but good enough to take again. HW assignments 10 online MC questions tests are not that bad if you study. Class is mandatory but dont have to listen as long as you read the textbook.
Norman Kleinberg is a very intelligent man. He is a great lecturer and really works hard to explain every concept in order for the entire class to understand it. The homework assignments are very easy and short, which makes this class even better. After taking this class you will understand economics a lot better. Highly recommended!!!
This class is medium-hard. 20 homeworks based on 20 chapters, 3 exams, and a final. Professor Kleinberg knows his material, but is very anal when it comes to class behavior and testing. Do not break any rules or face public shame in front of hundreds. Overall, if you can find another professor, take your chances; I wouldn't take this guy again.
He is a grate professor. I took him for micro and macro economics. I got in both classes A. He is very easy if you read the book.
Highly not recommend. This professor does not care about his students and goes really quick through his lectures. Generally does not like to answer students' questions. I recently had a technical issue with trying to purchase the $115 book that we need to buy for the class and he refused to help me at all. Never replies to e-mails.
Worst professor in Baruch and many of my friends warned me "do not take his class, you will not learn a thing" but despite their warning, I made the regretful decision to take his class. Terrible professor that WILL NOT HELP YOU. If you don't understand anything, he will not answer any of your questions but instead tells you to "find out online".
If you want a good GPA, dont take him. He wont do anything for you, wont help you with your assignment and will not help with your questions. "look it up!" is his famous quote of the year ladies and gentlemen.. explains things harder than it really was. my private tutor explained a lesson in 10 minutes with what he took 2 days to do.
He is the worst... In class he teaches things incredibly more complicated than they should be and ignores stuDent questions.. Hate him!!
Terrible professor ever he gives insane hard tests and assignments when he doesn't even teach all the stuff on the test. If u ever ask him for help he won't help u. If u have an aplia problem he tells u to call Aplia for help..
worst prof in Baruch... he doesnt help at all and his tests are so hard. i went into his office for help and he told me to call aplia
Disregard negative comments about Kleinberg. He is the easiest A you will get in Macro/Micro if you just do one thing. He tell you the exact pages you need to study for each test, and if you do just that is the easiest A! Don't take advice from people that are allergic to textbooks. It is true, he is not helpful after class but he's crystal clear.
Tells you exactly what will be on the test in terms of textbook chapters and Wall Street Articles so you know what you will be studying. Does curve tests and hw grades so that helps too. He takes more time then it should when he explains the content. Can get boring at times, but it is a huge lecture so no surprise. Do the work and a B at least.
OK so to keep it short, yes he does tell you what will be on exams and the chapters. But majority of this class is generally on your own, he teaches by the textbook so reading the textbook on your own will guaranteed your success. But in terms of an overall professor, he is incredibly unhelpful. He almost never responds to emails.
This is the worst professor by far ladies and gentleman. Please do not take at any cost!
Terrible professor.
2 Midterms, drops the lower one. (40%), online HW and 3 group writing assignments (20%), 40% final. Attendance only required first few classes. He's a great lecturer, but the material and concept are just hard. Slightly curves.
The class is pretty fair, and your lowest mid-term and 2 HW grades get dropped. A lot of self study, and do not half-ass the HWs. It's super easy to get a 100 on all of them, and doing that will boost your average a lot. Also exams can be generously curved
His class is boring, many of us leave early. One good thing is he will give out curve on the exam. But he is so rude.
I just want to start off stating he is a terrible professor and I really tried hard despite his teaching style reading off the textbook power points. I do not recommend him and I think that you are better off with a different professor. The class itself is not that hard but he obviously makes it harder than need be. Do not take!
Doesn't help students, takes too much time to explain something that is simple. Lectures are a waste of time, but have to show up for attendance. Better off reading from the ebook required for class as well as watching some videos on da Youtube. Not a horrible class, but you're pretty much on your own. Also includes wsj articles in tests
This class was a terrible experience. He does not help and teach you at all! You'll be teaching yourself, so the TEXTBOOK IS ESSENTIAL! He gives 2 tests plus the final, and he drops the lowest from the first 2 tests. He also curves, but not by a lot. You'll also have hw due every week, but its easy. You'll only show up for attendance.
The professor seemed pretty enthusiastic about the subject, but he seemed to let his prior experience of students color his judgement, and was always talking about how students screwed up. He spent so much time on the less important things that we had to skip several chapters. If there's a better choice for this class, don't pick this professor!
He actually does a decent job as his lectures. Sometimes he goes off on a tangent, but he always somehow comes back to the topic. Don't expect him to teach you everything, a majority of this class is going to be self-taught, just like a majority of classes you'll take in college. His tests are pretty straight-forward, except for those WSJ articles.
Although Kleinberg is rated so badly on here he's great. Two midterms, one final and Aplia. Aplia counts, and if you do it as well as thoroughly read the textbook you are GUARANTEED an A. You actually have to study for it though, it isn't handed to you. Powerpoints (he posts them on Aplia) help a lot. Attendance not mandatory. Curves just enough.
Learn by yourself, lecture helpfulness, homework10-20 quiz questions, 2midterms dropped the lowest grade, 1 final, curve only 1-2 point. Wanna pass? read ppt, take notes, do quiz questions all by yourself.
This professor did not convey the material clearly enough & often went off topic. He drops your lowest exam & quiz. Quizzes are time consuming and difficult. Exams are very intricate in detail and reading the textbook doesn't really help. Curves exams max three points & depending on which question(s) he feels class shouldn't have gotten wrong.
Teacher wasn't able to convey material properly. If you could take another semester and with a different teacher. DO NOT take it with this professor. Tried to understand it the way he taught but was not able to.
if you are planning on learning in an economics class, then this isnt the professor for you. He speaks to the class as if speaking to a bunch of idiots and holds no respect for students as intelligent adults.
worst professor in baruch. after the midterm half of the student drop the class
There's 2 test (drops one) and a final. That being said, he's one of the worst professors at Baruch. There's attendance sheets (whenever he feels like it) so you have to show up. During class he just reads slides which are straight from the textbook. Then his test do not have information from the slides, rather a concept at best. AVOID!
Was not helpful/enjoyable. He's enthusiastic but his tests are so tricky and there are not many questions on the tests. Drops the second midterm. Don't screw the first one up. Homework online for each chapter. Takes the best score. Curves the tests but by a couple of points. Don't take him.
One of the worst classes I've ever been in since I transferred to Baruch. It's true when people say that he speaks to the class like we're idiots because anytime he asks questions, no one raises their hand and answers. 2 midterms, 1 final, and drops the lowest midterm, both 40% each. Quizzes are only 20%. Avoid him if you can.
i should never have taken his class. he makes the test exorbitantly difficult. it's only 32 questions, which gives you no freedom to make wrong answers, and it's just 2 test (40%) & online quizzes (20%) and that's the class. Don't take him. Just dont do that to yourself. So many regrets.
I got an A on his course. Quiz 20% you have to get 100 on every single one. Try to understand the graph by knowing why it goes up and down. He will curve 1 or 2 question out of 32 and he will curve your final grade by 1 letter up. So it is not too bad. Sit in the front or you will never pay attention of what he is saying which is very important!
He is a grumpy old man when presenting in front of the class, however personal 1 on 1 with him, he is a sweetheart. He means well but sometimes can come off as mean. He tries to make you understand but sometimes he goes off on tangents.
Caught the A- by treating this class as an online class. Only went to lectures for the attendance and didn't pay attention to to him at all. Just put in the work when doing the HW. Read the chapters and the powerpoints for each chapter and you'll be set. Don't take this prof if you can, maybe there are other Eco profs that can teach better.
really not bad at all. definitely read the textbook and make sure you understand all the graphs and concepts. tests are only 32 questions so hard to do well, but they really aren't too challenging if you have read the textbook, done the online quizzes and practice tests. lectures can be interesting if you pay attention :) he curves a little
decent professor. I would look for another if possible. He does curve about half a letter grade at the end of the semester which is good. Lectures very boring, you're gonna have to teach yourself.
Have yet to meet a more unnecessarily smug professor in my college life. He honestly thinks he is gods gift to the world, but gives some of the most boring lectures I have ever had to misfortune to attend. Do not take this class as you will end up having to teach the subject material to yourself
Professor Kleinberg made the subject of macroeconomics understandable and very interesting. In fact, I found his lectures to be entertaining and felt fortunate to have learned both textbook concepts and real-world examples. The exams were fair and the online homework/quizzes were manageable.
Don't bother going to class. Reads off slides or talks about real world stuff that's not on the test. Gets caught up in his own jokes(that aren't funny). Tests are hard enough, but he makes it worse when he doesn't explain problems that will actually be ON the test. Wasted sm time sitting in lecture and not learning
doesnt care for students. expects you to spend every second of your life doing practice problems. knowledgeable in the subject but cant convey material for his life. tests only have 32 questions so its hard to do well. rambles on about random tangents during lecture. curves are like 4 points they dont help. only way to do well is look at past exams
Don't take this class. Exams are impossible because the questions are not like the hw/quizzes. He doesn't teach anything thats actually on the test. Waste of time and biggest mistake picking him as a prof
His lectures reinforce the textbook readings; he goes in-depth about the concepts which can be hard to understand. The lectures do not exactly correspond to the tests, there might be topics where he lectures a lot about but it's not on the test. Generally, really do read the textbook and know the important vocabs, which are often on the tests.
Worst professor at Baruch. YOU NEED TO LEARN YOURSELF. He doesn't teach. Two midterms, drops lowest one. Try to teach yourself through the textbook, homework questions, and practice questions and you will probably pass. No guarantees, though.
Worst professor for economics. His lectures are hard to understand. Does not care about students. There were about 70 students in the class. Now there is about 15. If that does not give u an idea about him, don't know what will. Just don't take him.
He makes the class harder than it needs to be. Does not really give you any formulas you need, in fact he writes it once on his little slides and then vaguely explains it. Got a stick up his somewhere about phones. Does not teach well.
If you are looking for a good econ professor he is NOT it. Class is incredibly boring, lectures make zero sense; all he does is read off of powerpoint slides and expects you to understand the concepts. Because of his constant tangents, we are 1.5 classes behind where we should be (which is absurd). DON'T TAKE!!!
Absolutely awful. If the other reviews haven't dissuaded you, I don't know what will. He doesn't teach and goes on random tangents that have nothing to do with the material. He's also quite rude. Over 100 ppl dropped after the midterm, more seem to be leaving because its not worth the time or money to teach yourself Macro.
Matter of Fact by far the Worst i mean the WORST prof i ever had. If im teaching myself the material he might as well stay home because his class are pointless. Waste of tuition money. Dont take the class he gets out of subject then forgot that he was teaching. He doesnt have passion for teaching so it was difficult to love Microeconomics
If I can give a 0 I would. Why am I paying for class to learn a subject myself? He didn't teach me one single thing in Macroeconomics and yet his test curves are ridiculously small.
What can I tell. Hes alright, I guess. Lectures are basically him talking about current stuff. You might think that hes rude, but its college and no one is there to babysit you. Yeah, he doesnt give you the formulas or the questions that might appear on the exam, but if you go to the recitation you would know your formulas. Hes ok, not great.
Its a good idea to show up to class just for his announcements. His lectures are interesting but useless for the class. Just do the practice quizzes and homeworks on MyEconLab and you can get a solid B on the exams. He curves a whole letter grade at the end of the semester without telling you.
I failed this class because he stops taking attendance after like the first week and I never showed up again lol. But yoo The class is not that hard. Just do the homework (which is a lot because they make you use that stupid econ lab at baruch) and listen to his lectures. He is not a bad guy. I was just a bad student. I mean my dumb friend got an A
If you're smart and patient enough to read a book and understand the material by yourself you will definitely get an A. First 2-3 weeks are mandatory to come. 2 midterms - cumulative. REVIEW the exercise on the Pearson lab and you'll be fine. He gives articles from WSJ so pay attention!!! Always try to get 100% on quizes!
Not mandatory to go to class i never paid attention but he gives out WSJ articles and gives questions about them on the tests. This is a self study class. Need to buy Myeconlab. Read the textbook!! He drops one midterm grade. Curves 2 questions on exams. Try to get perfect score on his online quizzes there are 3 tries. Lots of attitude
He goes on rants for the first 20 minutes of class and assigns pointless WSJ articles. Its a self study class. Go to recitation its not much help but its better than nothing. Barely curves. Took him because I had no other option
He does not care about the students, he's very rude to everyone. Only gives a 2 question curve on the exams. His lectures are boring so do yourself a favor and pick another professor
This professor is horrible. The class is graded on two exams (three total and takes highest of two and then the final) and homework. Basically, if you fail one of the exams you pretty much fail the class which is why most people dropped it after the midterm. You have to teach yourself everything and his lectures are not helpful. DON'T TAKE HIM.
I would not consider myself that much of a hardworking student. I do exactly what I need to do to get by. Having said this, Kleinberg was a professor that I found to be very good. Attendance not mandatory. Tests based straight off the textbook, which he uses as slides in the lecture. Studied moderately and finished with an A. Definitely worth it.
He took attendance at the beginning of the semester but then dropped it. He reads off slides that are given to you on blackboard so the only times I was in class was during the midterms and the final. His tests are mainly based on online homework.
He does go on rambles very often about current events in macro. However, he does not have homework, just online weekly quizzes that are easy to get 100 in. 2 midterms, drops the lowest one. He also curves your final grade by a 2 +/- signs. His curves for the test may not be generous but they are for your final grade. Read the textbook and get an A
worst macro professor at Baruch. Has a terrible attitude with his students and genuinely does not care about you or your concerns. Very condescending in class and in person. avoid at all costs
Very knowledgable about the topic and is a great lecturer. Online homework and quizzes. Drops the lowest 2 quizzes. 2 midterms, drop the lower one and 1 final. HOWEVER, he has a horrible attitude that comes off as condescending towards his students.
I learned everything on my own. His class was useless. 2 tests and 1 final, drop the lowest 1 out of the 2 tests. I got 88 in one of the tests and did not do so well in the final, ended up with a B. To do well in his test, just do the questions on both Connect (graded) and the ungraded practice work. I went to every lectures but it's USELESS.
At Baruch, lecture style 150 students. He is no doubt a nice guy, but I gave him 2 stars because he gives tests that are ridiculously specific and nothing like the lectures or textbook. You will read the text and think you understand, then comes the test and he asks questions that are oddly minuscule. Where does Baruch find these professors?
Make sure you go to class. He gives many pointers on exams only once in class and will not repeat himself. Also do not get caught with your phone going off during class, you will be humiliated. One weekly quiz, two exams during semester, lowest out of two dropped, then cumulative final worth 40% of your grade. Practice many connect problems....
Gives Exteremly difficult exams without really teaching the material. Basically it's a teach yourself class. Does not curve ( I guess becuase it involves extra work). Got very little out of the class. Found the teacher to be a little lazy.
PLS AVOID. No matter what anyone says, please avoid. Pay someone to take their spot in another class. Awful, does not teach anything. Literally have to teach yourself everything
One of the worst professors I've ever had. He spends most of the class reading off of slides, but his tests are completely unrelated to the slides. For tests, this guy floods the tests with questions that he's never shown in class before and somehow expects us to solve them, and then he pretends that he wants the best for us.
One of the hardest professors at Baruch. His lectures are pointless, he takes attendance for the first few but that's it. And even if you go to EVERY single one and study EVERY material he gives you won't get a good grade. His tests are nothing like the practice questions, nothing like the textbook, nothing like the lectures and nothing.
AVOID THIS CLASS! Norman Kleinberg is a horrible professor. He's one of those teachers that tries to make it extra hard for the students. Also, he does not explain the material in class he just zooms through the slides and expects you to learn EVERYTHING ON YOUR OWN. Find another teacher, trust me.
So, I see that you want to fail. His midterms are brutal. You must read the book and listen to his boring lecture in order to get at least a decent grade. If you want to have a failing grade be my guest.
Don't waste your time taking him, you will forget you're in college. He makes basic macro like its a masters level. 2 exams plus final. Drops one but it is worth 40 points +final 40 and hw 20. His lecture does no correlate with the exams, he makes it very hard for students to pass and does not prepare for it well. Avoid!!!!!! It will ruin your GPA!
Listen, the class is test heavy, 40% 1 of the Midterms out of the 2 he gives he takes the highest grade, 20% Hw quizzes on connect, and 40% final test. I have yet to take the final but hes not terrible. Yall are dragging it. You just have to come to classhe curves the tests well too!
Class isn't mandatory but he definitely makes you work for your grade. There is a curve but you need to study hard and pay attention to his very boring lectures to get even a B. Overall a rude guy, avoid
If you wanna have a smooth semester, do not take Mr. Klein. It's not only the student's fault, he doesn't show so much interest in teaching various topics.
The test scores are consistently low for majority of students, probably because the questions are so specific. You may get a decent grade after the curve, but he has decided to not curve the final. He has a bad attitude to students and shows through the semester that he does not care. Blames students for low scores despite us studying. Plsdon'tpick
Please do NOT take this man. He is the stereotypical economics professor at Baruch, monotone during lectures and just does not care. His tests are nothing like the hw, he's rude to students with questions, his grading is 40% midterm, 40% final, 20% hw. Many of his students did poorly on the tests because of how different they were from the homework
Two midterms worth 40%. He drops the lowest midterm grade. Studying may or may not help as the questions are nothing like the practice. 20% of your grade comes from Connect chapter quizzes that do not tell you what you got wrong. Studied 7 chapters in a week for a final full of obscure questions that I've never seen in book or lectures. SELF STUDY!
SELF STUDY!!!! Hell curve exams grade if overall class doesnt do better. Drop the lowest two quiz scores and one of the first two exams. Self Study!!!! If you want to pass the course do not depend on professor. Study yourself from the beginning to pass or to do better.
Other reviews exaggerate the difficulty level of the professor. All the exam questions are based on his lectures. His exams are open book, he gives a 10 point curve on the midterms, and he curve the final grade up a level. Definitely don't rely on google during the exam. Listen to the class lectures and you will do well.
AVOID!!!! He does not care about students at all. NOT understanding at all. He is very rude towards students. If you have a question, he will most likely make you feel bad about asking. He blames the students for his bad way of teaching, he just reads off slides. Take someone else.
Do yourself a favor and DON'T TAKE THIS GUY. He doesn't care about his students at all and makes it impossible to answer some of these questions on his quizzes and tests. EXTREMELY RUDE to students for no reasons. He loves belittling you for asking reasonable questions. DO NOT TAKE - CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.
He is the worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. He is rude, disrespectful and has the attitude that he is the smartest person on this earth. His lectures don't help you because he talks about irrelevant staff. He says his tests are based on quizzes but in reality his tests NOTHING like that. His tests are unnecessary hard and confusing
I never attended lectures and simply completed assignments on Connect. Midterms were pretty easy, but I failed the final because I didn't study for it. As long as you understand the material, you don't have to attend class.
Two midterms, only the Highest one will count(40%). The Final is worth 40% and the chapter quiz online (20%). If you are thinking about taking ECO3200, TAKE HIM.
2 midterms and the lowest one gets dropped. Both midterms and the final are curved pretty well. You dont have to show up, just read the textbook and you'll be fine. Chapter quizzes are online and so are the answers, and you get 3 attempts. Hes a lil goofy but he means well. Would take again
Does a great job at explaining the concepts in his lectures and really tries to help you understand the topic. Attendance isn't mandatory so you could just rely on the textbook and slides but it may be beneficial to go to class. Like others have mentioned, this class is very test-heavy so if that's not your cup of tea, I wouldn't recommend it.
Weekly chapter quizzes (20%), the highest score of two midterms (40%), and the final (40%). Tests are very similar to the chapter quizzes but still challenging, and you can expect a 5-10 point curve per test. Class is not the easiest; the final makes or breaks your grade and it is the most difficult, but Prof. Kleinberg curved our grade (C to B-).
The lowest of the first 2 midterms is dropped and the midterms are usually curved by 1-2 questions. Very funny old school guy. Weekly chapter quizzes that go over the material. Honestly not a bad class, however, the final was bizarrely hard. The two midterms aren't too difficult be prepared to study everything in-depth for the final.
Chapter quizzes, 2 midterms, 1 final Attendance is checked by quiz in the class Only the best score among 2 mid-terms is calculated, so if you get a good score from first one, you don't have to take second mid-term Final was cumulative IMO, the best strategy for this course is do your best only for the first mid-term and final. Quizzes are easy
Professor Kleinberg makes the material engaging with his quirky teaching style. The course has a lot of graded components, but he curves tests generously. Unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for preparing for the cumulative final.
SAVE YA SELVES. I mean it. Man is a gpa killer. You get no reviews. His slides were not engaging at all. There's no hw but quizzes only. His exams are 20 questions. I promise you, it doesn't help. The quizzes dont even be related to the exam, maybe 2 questions the most.
He doesn't make much sense in his lectures, so you're gonna have to take notes on your own, 100%. BUT! As a grader, I trust this a WHOLE lot more than compared to the rest who teach ECO 3200! Gives a quiz every chapter per week, drops the lowest grade amongst three exams, AND does give curves (when he wants to). He's tough, but fair.
Horrible professor, do not take!!! His lectures are so boring and he makes concepts much more complicated than they are. Also veryy condescending and rude, especially if you try answering/asking questions. only good thing is he drops lowest of 2 exams, but final was very hard
Great professor. Funny and engaging. Had him last year for eco 3200. Several quizzes for homework but he drops the lowest of the two. 2 midterms and a final, with the lowest of the midterms being dropped. The midterms and finals both contain several questions straight out of the homework quizzes. A little too sarcastic at times but he's sweet.
DO NOT TAKE DO NOT TAKE DO NOT TAKE! GPA KILLER! 20 QUESTION CUMULATIVE MCQ FINAL, VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND CONDESCENDING WHEN YOU ASK QUESTIONS. TAKE ANYONE BUT HIM. I TRIED HARD BY ATTENDING LECTURES AND OFFICE HOURS BUT HE WAS THE NASTIEST PERSON TO BE AROUND. BIGGEST DISPLEASURE OF MY COLLEGE CAREER TO BE IN HIS CLASS! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
He deeply cares about his students' success.Yes, this class is not easy, it's packed with valuable knowledge you will need in life.If you put in the work from day ONE(I didn't so B-), you can absolutely get an A if you commit to the material and participate actively. He is always willing to help and breaks things down in a way that makes sense.
One of the worst professors I've had. Exams are 20 questions and he drops the lowest of the two midterms, but his teaching is unclear and unhelpful. Constantly says “I'm not saying you're stupid” when students ask questions, which feels condescending. Not a supportive environment.
Horrible professor, I do not recommend taking him. His lectures are not engaging, and he does not care about students at all. He doesn't have a gift for teaching. I recommend to self study for this course. Practice the quizzes and read the textbook to do well in this class. Quizzes 20%, Midterms 20% drops the lowest, and final 40%.
Super hard class. Got curved from B+ to A. Most people don't even show up to class so the ratings are heavily skewed. Does drop the lowest of the two midterms. I would recommend using something to study like AI because some of the topics get confusing.
Avoid at all costs
Extremely boring and lecture heavy; all tests are only 20 mc questions each so very little room for error.
Prof. Kleinberg explains the content well. The course is graded on chapter quizzes, attendance, midterm (drops the lower of two), and final. To study or exams, review the chapter quizzes and textbook problems, as they are similar to exams. Some say he is condescending, but he wants students to develop confidence and strong economic understanding.
Professor's Kleinberg's grading criteria is clear and consistent. We had 12 chapter quizzes, had 3 tries for each quiz and he dropped your lowest quiz grade. We had two exams(midterms) and he dropped your lowest score, no cheat sheet allowed. For the final, We could bring a 4X6 index card and he curved the final and the midterm grades by 10 points.
